...Less strict deadlines. The state of the last patch makes me think they are not given enough time to work on the quality.
-
Not to be that guy but those ideas are horrible balance-wise and make no sense. Just the fact they rely on survivors not knowing they are friggin' exposed should be enough to understand it.
-
No, but Behaviour need seriously to focus more on quality over quantity. Patches such as the most recent one which broke practically everything should not be unacceptable.
-
I'll join the group of people that prefer the survivors being spread in horizontal, like the original UI. As someone already pointed out, it allows to read all the info in one eye movement (from left to right) instead of having to zig zag (L to R, down, L to R, down etc...).
Also, if the portraits don't show the cosmetics I see no point in not using the black and white ones that already exist. They fit better since all the other icons use that style.
-
I don't find her weak at all. She has stealth, a dash that can be used on many loops and a good stall mechanic. And before someone questions my experience I have 3600 hours. What she needs imo is an addon pass because most of her addons are lackluster.
-
Nope, it happens on every map to me. It's so bad that I won't be playing survivor until they fix it.
-
I'm kinda ok with that but please stop with this promo code bs.
-
There's no auto aim. The devs explained a million times how hits are registered. What looks like autoaim is just the game's way to make it look like the hit visually connected.
-
In the last stream they said the time from PTB to live is too short for making changes. The PTB at this point should be seen as a way to help them fix bugs.
-
I think lately they are putting too much in the basic lore for characters. I liked more the short paragraphs of earlier characters which can be explored bit by bit from cosmetics descriptions and archive entries rather than those very long and detailed backstories we're getting lately.
-
I think the perk does its job well. Crows help me a lot when playing killer and if more people used it I'd lose a very good tracking tool.
The biggest problem of this perk is that it affects killers who use crows as a valuable source of information, but in my experience they are few.
Probably this perk could be more useful in a tournament, where the chances the killer looks for crows are higher.
-
He's a mountain of muscles, what's there to explain?
-
Spine Chill is countered by simply looking slightly sideways, come on...
What's this compulsory need to have a perk to be obsessed about until it gets changed? DS got changed, be happy about it and go on with your lives.
-
Just...don't heal under the hook? I mean as a killer if I see that right after an unhook someone gets healed I assume at least two survivors are under the hook and I will check. Even if there is not a precedent it's useful to check a hook in case there are people healing, it's not tunneling just being smart.
Be smarter and go heal in a safe place.
-
Eh... personally I never had a problem with DS being a strong endgame perk, since saving it during the match is a gamble.
-
I agree, I feel these little sneak peeks in their development process help bring them closer to the community. Personally I wish they did it more often, if only this community wasn't so easy to backlash and overreactions...
-
But why would the killer want to chase someone that can't do anything for one minute? If you chase someone with DS you're already wasting your time.
Besides there's a little trick that works most of the times: pretend to go away and as soon as you hear the locker door open you come back with a lunge, and then you leave them on the ground forcing them to use Unbreakable or to get rescued (again). It's always fun to crash their plan this way.
-
They do. The devs have showed many times that they do listen to feedback, people just like to forget this.
-
It's a more powerful Distortion with a risky drawback: you know when the killer sees you (and as consequence, what perks he has) without limited uses, but with a chance of being seen even more.
Personally I find this quite interesting, I always wanted a perk that showed you the killer when he sees your aura.
-
Not a fan of the new UI (it's too much "mobile-y"), but from what I understood they're pushing it because it supports some stuff they are planning/working on.
-
If I had to choose, probably Infectious Fright. I tend to use it on Myers and it's honestly kinda insane how stronger EW3 becomes with that perk. Its problem is that it buffs tremendously the stronger killers, while on the others it doesn't do much.
-
You don't need to moonwalk to counter it, just to look slightly sideways. Very easy to do, and the fact that people using SC rely a lot on it makes it even easier to take them by surprise.
Besides, comboed with Resilience it gives only a 15% bonus only when you're injured and the killer is directly looking in your direction. I wouldn't call it insane.
-
Uhm... there is no subject being shamed for their physical appearance, how is that bodyshaming?
It almost seems like you are trying to find a reason to be offended, since those are just playful expressions that do no harm to anyone...
-
Without hatch the last survivor would have two choices: hide or die. Now, have you ever played against survivors who hide without trying to do anything else? It's horrible. Without hatch that would be a constant.
If you want an advice, stop caring about 4king. If the last survivor has to use the hatch to escape you already won.
-
Implement a perk randomizer and give bonus BPs for playing builds made with it.
-
I think it's because the Demogorgon requires more skill than most killers: Shred is quite punishing if misused and his portals are not like Freddy's teleport, they must be placed cleverly to be off-path and hidden. In good hands though the Demogorgon is quite powerful.
-
Mostly the fact they reduced a lot communication with the community. I get the reason since the community is very easy to trigger and communicating with it is like stepping in a mine field, but it made them feel more distant and detached. Also I miss the MCote on stream, the guy was a living meme (in a good sense)...
-
Unless you place it in a corridor where you can't walk around it, it is easily countered by simply inverting the direction of the loop.
-
Both roles have their difficulties.
-
A killer with a pounce or a long range attack. I feel we already have a lot of them nowadays.
-
Basically everything in 2016. At the time DbD was a real mess, people who think badly about it now, have no idea...
-
I'm a proud Jake main. Was a mixed Jake/Nea main but the community gave Nea an awful reputation, so I progressively dropped her.
-
Absolutely detest it. I think it makes for a very boring and un-interactive gameplay, since for the survivor every pallet is just a coin toss and for the killer its just M1ing while survivors play themselves. And no, memorizing every pallet position while awake is not an effective counter when you're solo.
-
I start by saying that for "op" here I just mean that it has a very powerful effect, not that it is too much and should be changed... That said:
For survivors Iron Will. It's always present in my builds if I have it on the character I'm using. It is absolutely gamechanger and I'm actually amazed by its relatively low usage.
For killers NOED. It either gives a massive power boost at the end of the match or forces survivors to do a secondary objective. In both cases it's a win for the killer.
-
I'd say Plague. Between the fact I face her very rarely, and the fact I don't like her as much as other killers, I often don't think about her.
-
It depends a lot on the mood, but the Wraith is my og love.
-
The new ones could be improved, but after seeing them I can't stop thinking the old ones feel very stiff.
-
What about a status effect that adds strafing to the survivors' running, kinda like what killers get when carrying a survivor? That could make for a strong status, but still counterable with some skill.

You're ignoring a massive problem with the entity taking people who are renowned or famous.
Let's say that I am the entity. I need humans, hope, to survive. When I take someone to my torture dimension I want to make sure that as few people as possible come looking for them. Because not only are lonely people most likely easier to kidnap, but if people start to notice others mysteriously disappear in a deep fog my food source is now at risk. The devs have stated in the past that escape from the trials is possible if the right ritual is performed. So having people look into what might be taking their peers is very bad for me.
Like, say, talking an individual that's worth millions in sponsorships and will have no doubt have investigators trying to find out what happened to her. It's an extremely stupid decision to take someone like that given that I want to remain unseen. And even apart from that, if anyone actually managed to break out of the trials, they would be a massive security risk. Because if all the people I took were nobody's or loners or just people that weren't well known, the person who escaped who be hard pressed to find anyone who believes what happened to them.
Unless of course they have valuable information pertaning to all of the celebrities I've apparently been kidnapping.
That is true, but you forget that The Observer, Felix and Elodie's lore make clear there are people who investigate on the matter. That is what makes me think the Entity didn't really care and wasn't careful in its kindappings.
Besides, if the Entity was really interested only in lone people whose disappearance wouldn't be noticed, it would have a buffet made of the countless homeless people in the world. But as far as we know there aren't homeless people in the Realms, because they don't fit the Entity's strict requirements.

Let me start by saying I appreciate you actually taking the time to write a good counter-argument. These forums are filled with childish people who don't seem to understand the difference between objectivity and subjectivity. So having someone at least try to explain their viewpoint rather than presumptuously telling me how wrong I am is refreshing. Now onto addressing your statements.
"Cosmetics are minutiae that should seldom be used when designing characters--particularly in a game with customisation"
You disproved your first point in the same sentence that you stated it. The characters of dbd have almost no dialogue. The most we've gotten is Plague's occasional quotes and Ash saying something in the waiting lobby. For all intents and purposes, the personality of the survivors is how they look. They can express themselves in no other way besides screaming in terror. The only other interaction that we, as players, have over these characters besides helping them survive is choosing their outfit. So how those outfits are designed is a very important part about expressing that particular character's personality. Silhouette and mannerisms are important as well. But not nearly as important as how a character looks to begin with. (When I have the time I'm going to contrast every character silhouette in the game to see how they look. I'll get back to you when I'm done)
"At the end of the day, design is subjective, and even good design is hated by some"
Not entirely true. In every single design in every single field, objectivity can be measured. A stick as an objectively worse weapon compared to a gun. A pile of leaves is an objectively worse shelter than a house. When it comes to creative fields such video games it certainly becomes harder to measure objectivity, but is by no means impossible. It simply requires a more thorough examination than the previous examples.
You are entirely correct in saying that good design is hated, however. I hope that my analysis of dbd has come across as sincere and not disgruntled as I try to analyse things as objectively as possible.
The last thing I'll address is your analysis of Yui's pose. All of which is completely correct and I agree with.
(Except I'm surprised you didn't mention the ridiculous wrappings around her feet that made her look like a Sonic Boom character.)But what I will criticise is her characterisation and story and how it poorly ties to the game's narrative.(What's left of it)- Dwight is an anti-social nerd who's spent most of his time alone or avoiding others that would ridicule him. It makes sense that the entity would take him because less people would look for him.
- Claudette is an anti-social nerd who's main interactions with people are online. It would make sense for the entity to take her as well.
- Yui a renowned racer who now holds record for youngest ever woman to win the "All-Japan Moto Championship" and has thousands, if not millions, of sponsorship money backing her. Why the hell would the entity ever consider taking her?!?
I'm fully aware that other survivors have this problem also, and that the entity has been reduced to an imitation of a bad eldritch joke at this point, but that doesn't excuse how contrived her inclusion in the game is.
The Entity doesn't take people because they are loners and nobody would notice (it's an interdimentional being and I doubt it gives a #########), it takes people who have a very strong will and survival instinct, people who wouldn't give up.

Newer players have to learn something, so when they do learn that Wraith can grab them, they will perform better next time. Just because something isn't noob Survivor friendly, doesn't mean that it shouldn't be added. The game shouldn't cater towards new players. The Devs can also include it as a tip in the loading screen if they haven't faced Wraith yet.
You have overlooked the other half of my comment where I said it wouldn't have any effect to all non-newbies. Having mechanics that works only on people who don't know them does no good to anyone.
-
There is a problem, though. ######### Claudettes and Self Care.

Well, put it this way. 1 killer = 4 survivors. Which side do you think has more voices to shout louder?
I don't think it's about how vocal survivors are, because in my experience on social media it's mostly killers bitching non stop. I think the real reason is that if something is broken on the killer's side, it affects 4 other players. Killers impact the game more than survivors and their imbalances are more problematic for the game as a whole.
-
I don't think so. It seems the kind of thing that would hurt a lot newer players who don't know the mechanic, but not affect at all the others since they would just avoid vaulting while the killer is cloaked.

@DemonDaddy said:
I can see them not doing this for the same reasons they removed visible ranks. Lobby dodges because they don't approve of the build.
While that is true, having that info in the ESC menu in-game would be a good alternative, since people can't dodge unapproved builds without incurring in the dc penalty. Wouldn't be as useful as having it in the lobby, but still better than nothing.
-
It will probably make his gameplay more interesting... stronger? I don't know but honestly I doubt it. The speed boost is too little to help him with map pressure, which is his Achille's heel.
The best thing imo is the reload speed buff.
-
I think if we really want equality, that mask should stay. The cosmetic is not the problem, the problem is that some people are still racist in 2021. Removing the cosmetic would not make them not racist. Banning them when they do/say racist stuff wouldn't either, but at least would show them they are not welcome.
-
It's the same as dressing well irl. You want to look cool and express your personality even if you're not spending the day in front of a mirror.
-
You're approaching the game with the wrong attitude. It's a PvP game where inevitably you'll find players better than you. You don't want to hear "git gud" but that's literally the solution. Remember that every good player was once a noob and had to endure and learn.
My advice to learn faster is to play both sides. Observing how others play a role teaches you a lot. There are also a lot of "educational" streamers out there (like OhTofu, Otzdarva and I heard FunGoose) that can help a lot.

Victor wouldn't be the first person to die and appear alive in the Entity's realm.
Imo he, like others like the Nurse or the Hag, are neither dead or alive, they just exist thanks to the Entity's will.
