New better UI would not be a problem to me. Thing is -- this new ui is much worse. Animations... when injured survivor is running it seams like they have pooped in their pants... or worse... like someone else had pooped in their pants. I just cannot think about anything else when I see it.
I feel the same way. Its very immersion breaking to see something so ridiculous. I get an urge to play and then think or see the new animations and I just can't.

They could honestly change the name from "PTB" to "DLC Early Access" on the next one.
Pretty much. They are just too stubborn for their own good. They could just change the timing of things by a bit. And you know, actually listen to their community.

Guess we never expected an overall nerf to survivors with these new animations. Glad we asked for those - oh wait we didn't.
The fact they look bad and fundementally changed how survivors move is really, really bad.

If you want to get rid of camping/tunneling, then looping has to go along with it.

They weren't new.
BHVR's trying to give the entire game a facelift, with visual map reworks, model reworks, and now UI and animation reworks.
Then they should really make sure the facelift actually makes things look better. The new maps graphics fidelity is better then the old, but for the most part atmospherically they are not as well done. The only one I like better after the updates is Lery's.

Well they 100% can go back, that's for sure. The thing is they can't actually do it. If they actually reverted the update, everybody would know that any change is revertable. That's not good for anybody, on top of that if i used resources for something thats ######### i would also try to justify why it should stay in.
How is that not good for anyone? It’s good for the community. And besides, they’ve reverted a couple of other changes in the past. So we already know it’s possible. They are just being stubborn

Also, why is realistic a good thing? Not that these are; but why do people get stuck on the idea of realism for a game? Aren’t these a fantasy, an idea? Isn’t that where we want to get away from realism? Not saying realism can’t be interesting, but this game is so far from it; why try to make it more like reality?

They where at least fluid and looked good. These look like trash.

Of course they need to be more polished, but they are still better than the old ones where everyone was looking like Quasimodo. The old animations look outdated and it would be a horrible idea to bring them back.
I think they looked fine. They moved smoothly. They looked scared, or weary, or exhausted. Numerous types of emotions could be captured in it. Now they look like robots. Malfunctioning robots who have only watched humans animated during the 70's

I didn't play the PTB, but I watched streamers who did. And I was pretty excited for those new animations.
Then, I played when it came to the live servers... I miss the old animations. I felt better with them. I like the recovery animation while in the ground, but that's all.
I feel the same way, and I think thats the one good thing have mentioned about the animations is the dying ones are well done. But as that's (hopefully) not the majority of the animations your seeing, it doesn't really make up for the rest of it.
-
THe point is to theroretically slow down the survivors and make them waste a little time. The problem is its too little time, and anyone who does deep wounds besides Legion, it dosen't matter. Simply because it affecting only one survivor at a time is not enough slow down with 3 other people on gens, or two on gens and one being chased.

@indieeden7 said:
I'd prefer that they improve the current ones, I actually think they look more realistic than they did previously, including the injured run.
(Going off on a tangent here because I really hate when people say the new injured running animation looks goofy) In real life, if you had a wound on the side of your abdomen so bad that you had to keep a hold of it to stop it from bleeding, you would not be able to take large steps while trying to move, that would put strain on your abdominal muscles and cause agonising pain. Taking small, quick steps however, would not put as much strain on the abdominal muscles and would cause much less pain, and would therefore be a more achievable way of moving in such a situation. You might think that the animation looks goofy, but in the situation that survivors are in, it is much more realistic.
Whether it is realistic or not (and I don't think it is), this game isn't about realism in any way, shape, or form. It is a contest between abducted humans, some of them empowered to kill by the entity, others given the task of escaping them. It is another realm lorded over by an eldritch abomination who's motives are incomprehensible by mortals. So 'realistic' is not something should be measured by to determine its aesthetic appreciation. It should be what looks ######### good. And these look like trash.
-
Yeah, this is really dumb. BHVR again showing thier obvious survivor bias. As well as seeming confusion about how the game is played.

I think the irony is that Dbd runs on the sunk cost fallacy. Ppl have spent too much time, money and energy to let it go.
For me its more of an unfortunate addiction. Like Heroin.
-
They way i see it, BHVR tries to use PTBs to generate hype, and to at least identifiy bugs. The problem comes in that when the community isn't hyped, and is in fact upset, they ignore it. And with bugs they rarely fix anything unless it is actively game breaking, and refuse to delay something no matter what.
-
@Taiga said:
The new animations are a lot better and feel more realistic, but people just aren’t used to it yet and sadly this game has a stubborn community, that hates everything new and complains so much, that it gets changed again. That’s one of the reasons why this game feels so outdated.
Have you ever watched humans move? Because the current animations are not the way. The back should move when walking or running. It stays static and straight. Legs do not move that close together, and they actually swing when you walk and run. This isn't about new versus old and needed to get used to it. These are bad animations.

They're truly awful and they, along with this ######### UI, make me not want to play the game. I don't feel like I'm running at full speed, Sprint Burst feels like a joke, I am constantly getting caught on walls in ways I never have before and I swear it's actually slowing me down.
Honestly survivors just LOOK slower from the killer perspective. I've still been watching the game to keep up with it, and I see people try to make pallets they would normally make before and can't now.

Not Queen said that they can but they won't because it took them months to create the new one and they're not gonna revert months of work. Her words.
That's what we like to call a cost sunk fallacy in action.
-
Its better, but it still dosen't look as good as the old UI and the Generator Icon is still too small, while the power/item icons and addons are too large.
Also the red on red is still terrible and needs some kind of change. The 3d survivor icons look out of place, they should be replaced with hand drawn icons.
-
Getting used to it isn't the problem. Its the fact it is a change that is worse then the old UI, and the new animations just look very bad.
-
@Ravenlord4711 said:
if they really can't revert it, that speaks volumes to the quality of developer they are. They made MASSIVE changes and didn't keep a backup of the old one??????? you don't do that on your game saves let alone your source of income. Are you telling me that you don't have a single backup anywhere of the previous coding for the game??????? what??
As always they are lying. Its getting kind of silly just how blatant they are becoming.

Not liking this one at all ..makes 0 sense tbh..from a nervous looking worried type character at start of match to a more very confident , no worries it's just a killer after me type character stance . This isn't GTA where they should stand like this with no worries ..character is frightened and worried and must get out . Why this change I don't know .
And they look so silly when they move. Especially from the killer perspective.
-
They only look somewhat good from the survivor perspective. And still are stiff and missing animations between frames. Watch it from the killer perspective and it looks silly as #########.

From killer perspective, survivors look so dumb that makes me laugh so hard. They look like they don't know where to go and what to do with these kind of animations. The injuried one looks like someone in diarrhea desperately looking for a bathroom. Unbelievable.
Thank you for pointing out how they look so much worse from the killer perspective. I feel the animations where designed with only one perspective in mind. And even that still looks bad.
-
This is an extra terrible patch that people are zeroing in on, especially with the devs rather...how to put this...odd attempts at damage control.

actually the breakable walls on the buildings did help with how strong it is IF the walls and windows were placed right otherwise it sometimes is the same.
The only ones I can think of that are actually strategic are on Badham and Gas Heaven. Everywhere else as a killer you have to break them to prevent an infinite. Its really bad design for the vast majority of it,
-
What a mess this is. The fact they are flip flopping on "not being able to go back" to "won't go back" is horrible. The former is a lie, the second is just casual disregard for your player base. Neither one is helping the issue, and is in fact likely making it worse.
-
No worries, I haven't been playing since they announced the Update back on PTB
-
Yep, BHVR dosen't care anymore, they think they can get away with anything because they have no competition. Lies and Arrogance move from the top down to the bottom. Its just frankly ridiculous.
-
They really are quite bad. Honestly they just need a DBD 2. The old spaghetti code is just too much now. When you can break things that should be unrelated to each other, you have a problem.
-
Don't worry, they are going to add breakable walls, that will fix everything!
-
They are in damage control mode. After the Twin Fiasco followed shortly by UIGate, they know people are not happy. The really sad thing is that while hit boxes and bugs are a problem, more has been said about the awful UI and the numerous excuses they are trying to give for why they can't/won't change it back. The stubborness and pride is honestly impressive in how much they won't move on it.
-
Yeah, they "heard" us. They saw people stopped playing the game and the complaints where insurmountable, so they are trying damage control. Instead of working with the community and actually listening.
-
I'm not a fan of the portraits personally, they clash with the rest of the hand drawn style of the UI.
The new UI is too scattered and the icons all have different scale and size. Its also not level with itself.
The new animations are just awkward and look silly, especially from the killer perspective.
Stop making breakable walls. They are just time wasters for a role that has very little time to manage already.
Gideon Meat Plant is even more broken then it was before.
-
Yeah, breakable walls are too easily abused and just create more busy work for the killer to do in an already hectic enviroment for them. They are rarely "strategic" in any way, and just serve to give the survivor a further advantage.
-
What's funny is the God Bus wasn't in the PTB, so they changed SOMETHING and it somehow borked the bus? They really just need to work on a DBD 2 and start fresh. This code is way too spaghetti and messy.
-
Making the UI customizable would be...fine. I personally would want the old UI back because it looked much nicer. I would accept changing the icons as well...but again, only accept it, not be happy about it.
-
Kind of? No more exhaustion addons, and the speed boost is only useful in a handful of situations?
-
This is very much a case of damage control. I feel they hoped the console players would be more behind this UI and Animation change so they could use that to try and quiet the PTBers. But that obviously didn't happen as people are still people and these changes are #########.

its funny because most of the animations are more realistic than they were before. We are just so used to the old way that the new animations feel weird
I disagree. Especially if you look at it from the killer perspective. The legs move too close together and don't have any swing. The back never moves, and the shoulders don't move enough. And none of it is fluid, it looks like they are missing frames of animation.

Uhh... I think you're misunderstanding the major complaints about the UI.
Most of us (from what I've seen) are happy about the new info given for solo players and killers- such as hooks and portraits. However, the portraits they used and the wound icon they use feel stylistically out of place compared to the rest of the UI. But the biggest complaint is UI placement. Before, you just had to glance to the bottom left for all of your info. Survivor health states, names, gen count, power meters, etc. Only thing that wasn't there was the perks, effects, and emblem meters that pop up. With the current UI, you have to look 3 different places for everything. Top for generators. Bottom left for item consumption/power info. Left side for Survivor Info. Bottom right for perks. Right side for status afflictions/emblem progress.
The major change wanted with the UI is just making it so most info is back in one place to make it easier to read. People with larger screens have to look around too much for information, and even people with smaller screens will usually miss something with that information because it's too spread out. The Old UI was just easier to read and understand, even for new players. Sure, even the stylistic change of portraits actually fitting the style of the rest of the UI would have been great, and imho something that should have been there from the start, but that's not as big of an issue as 'I feel like I'm further ahead to play without a hud at this point because the current hud is too hard to understand.'
I hope that clarifies somethings! We're not just complaining about nothing to complain, we just want to be able to play the game we love.

So whatever streamers and youtubers say we should listen to and blindly follow? I'm willing to bet had they said it was good it'd be considered the best change in DBD history.
Or people can make thier own opinions. I certainly did. I saw this UI and immediatly stopped playing the game back during the PTB. And the fact people may derive opinions from others is not always a bad thing. And in this case I think most people genuinely dislike this UI. Its scattered, its ugly, and it wasn't asked for. No one was complaining about the old, streamlined, nearly perfect UI.
-
Still Clown. Might be slightly worse now since he doesn't have exhaustion add ons anymore.
-
I do not like the new animations. They look stiff and unnatural. The way thier legs move and the face thier back never bends or moves just makes it look very off kilter. It looks a little better from survivor perspective; but I think that shows thats all they took into account when designing these new animations. They should revert to the old fluid animations, they looked great and I see of no reason they changed them.

Absolutely Nothing! Say it again!

DS abuse is just a made up thing by killers.
DS: "After being unhooked or unhooking yourself, Decisive Strike will become active and usable for 40/50/60seconds.While Decisive Strike is active, when grabbed by the Killer, succeed a Skill Check to automatically escape the Killer's grasp and stun them for 5 seconds."
Thats what the perk does. It works good against tunneling, thats it, no such thing as abusing it by going in a locker, its using the perk.
Are survivors crouch abusing if they use it to hide mid chase instead of hiding to avoid a chase? its just so dumb...
Same with all these dumb complaints about "second chance perks". Yes, survivors have these, and need these. Can a survivor kill the killer and throw him out of the game before the exit gates are open? no. Killers have unlimited second chances, miss a hit, just do it 3 seconds later again....
Survivors didn't have any second chance perks before Laurie came out and did fine, They would still do fine without them.
-
@Dpooly said:
@Vetrathene No, how often does the DS user go down within 30 seconds of hitting it? Other than EGC instances, fairly often in my experience. I personally don't use DS unless there's a 'Stun Killer' rift challenge. But as I mentioned, if a Killer can proxy camp and tunnel (So MuCh SkILl), a Survivor deserves the ability to shank em and get another chance for escape. Is it highly abusable with SWF? Absolutely, but what can't be?
So legitimate (if unfun) playstyles deserve to be countered simply because they are sometimes employed? And that killers should just leave a hook and allow the save?
-
@Bond4ever said:

- Survivors can't force killers to eat DS unless they hide in a locker, if they're repairing a gen or unhooking someone, all you have to do is not grab them, basically do a lunge attack so the game doesn't grab the survivor, that way you can slug them.
- U can't remember who you hooked recently...?
- And no one think tunneling is toxic, it is a scummy tactic? yes, but we have to deal with it
- Ds isn't exclusively supposed to be a anti tunnel perk
Then what is it supposed to be? Because right now its sixty seconds of get away free for doing nothing but playing badly and getting hooked.
-
@Dpooly said:
If camping and tunneling are legit strategies, DS is also a legit strategy. The difference being that a Survivor has to actually be good at mindgaming and loops to get away...the Killer just has to proxy camp the slug for a minute or better yet, find someone else to chase.
Your saying a survivor has to be good to get unhooked and then make a easy skill check? So much skill.
