Another thing I am worried about. Please do not let this one perk be the BHVR's anweser to camping. Camping and tunneling shouldn't only be manageable by survivors when using certain perks.
We need basekit measures that properly help with tunneling and camping. 10 second haste and endurance effect, increasing each hook phase duration from 60 to 70 seconds, and removing hook grabs, would be such important changes, and I can't see those changes taking too long to work on.
And then further perks can help counter camping and tunneling more effectively, that's fine. But they shouldn't be the solution for terrible strategies. I thought the devs wanted more perk variety? That's certainly not working out yet.
It's getting so tiresome to still see no proper nerfs to camping and tunneling after so many years, even now that killers were buffed.
I agree with the increase to the endurance effect you get on unhook being increased to ten seconds. But if you increase the hang time by another 20 seconds for each survivor, its nullifying the increased gen time and we are back at square one. I think what should happen is if a killer stays within 16 meters of a survivor and dosen't enter chase or leave the area after 5 seconds the hook state slows down. The effect will get weaker and weaker as each gen is done, until there is no longer a penalty to camping once the exits gates are powered. This way camping only becomes effective in the late game, which would at least make the games be more fun and discourage from camping early.

I made a post about that too. I think its perfect except that it really should deactivate once the FINAL gen is done, no matter what. Not have the gates open, but once the final gen is done so you can't just get infinite time at that point since the game is finally coming to an end. If he/she wants that kill after 5 gens of face camping, let 'em have it. That's all they'll get, though.
Which is what leads to the exit gates being powered, not open. Just like DS and OTR

Exactly. Killers just want to camp people to death and now they are scared of this perk, lol. Don't camp.
As a killer main I really don't enjoy camping and only use it when my hand is forced, I am perfectly fine with this perk since its range is super short, it just needs to deactivate after the exit gates are powered and its fine.
-
I think its fine it just needs to be disabled after the exit gates are powered.
Edit: Because honestly having to deal with a camping killer at the start of the game without good DS is super rough.

Also if your teammate has Kindred and boosted with open-handed stop running directly towards the killer whose aura you can see! If they are camping go do gens! Like seriously sometimes you just can't save a person, and with kindred you shouldn't be barreling towards the obvious killer while watching other people also try to go for the save!

The biggest problem with solo survivor is other survivors.
While information (that's superfluous to SWF but still beneficial to solo survivors) would be very nice, you can't make other players use it properly.
Yes, but thats the case in general. At least having tools to allow it would give a better chance of people succeeding.
-
I agree soloQ needs some kind of communication system, preferably voice, but at the very least a ping system. Now that killers have finally been buffed like they've been needing for a VERY long time, soloQ needs some love. BHVR, please work on a ping system soon, its really only fair.
-
Survivor is definetly still playable, I've pipped in most of my games and escaped a few. It unfortunately takes good team coordination to do it, and without voice chat and/or a ping system, it makes it a roll of the dice whether your team just happens to think a like and unable to actually coordinate. I also do understand and want something done about the camping epidemic thats going on. I personally think something that dosen't penalize camping as harshly near and at the end game and discourages it early on. I think the hook timer should slow longer the more gens there are, so as the game goes on camping becomes stronger but is especially weak at 3-5 gen, medium at 1-2, and no penalty after the exit gates are powered.
-
@Marigoria said:
Some people can't enjoy the game without winning, so they resort to camping at 5gens and tunneling because it's 99% of the time an automatic 4k now.
Without a ping system or voice chat it often is unfortunately. I think adding one or both of those to the game would help out a lot. I"m still in favor of the killer buffs, but I've certainly come around to seeing the soloQ side of things.
-
This is why I keep saying they need to add voice chat or at least a ping system.

Entitled killer view? Look - your perks and auras stack - Survivor buffs do not. Survivors have to work as a team which in of itself just doesn't happen as much as killers would like to think (rift challenges, daily rituals, people having 'fun' doing their own thing). FWIW DH didn't work half the time anyway - devs have issues when it comes to real-time physics and collision detection.
Which is why I think survivors need a ping system or voice chat. Something like this will help out a lot and bring SoloQ up to at least a close or exact level of SWF depending on the method implemented. I'm still in favor of these killer buffs, but I also know SoloQ needs to be addressed.
-
Yeah, this is a symptom of entitlement and losing privilege rather then of there being a problem with the game itself.

You can't work together with people you can't communicate with in any way... YET, in games like Evil Dead, with the ability to mark stuff or places, etc, you do really great as a team.
It's not about "Sometimes you just lose". This isn't a eSport even though some people play it as if it were.
I agree there needs to be a communication system for survivors in this game, ever since SWF they've needed to add it because it would make balancing SO much easier. But I've also won games in this and other competetive games with no communiocation but still won. Its not an impossiblty because of the new updates. Harder, yes, but survivors have needed to be harder and killers needed to be easier for YEARS.
-
I usually play whatever I"m feeling, I've got patience, some reading material, and music to listen to, so I can just wait it out myself.

@Gorgonia said:
Most killers love the patch. Some don't.

Killers were buffed, yes. That's great. SWF will now have to be careful or they will be slaughtered...
It's not really about the patch itself and the buffs and the nerfs. The problem is you can't buff one side that potentially faces solo Q players 8 out of 10 matches when these Solo Q players that are mostly casual and have average-to-regular skills (well, yes, you can because that's what they have just done). Let alone the ones that are still afraid of the killers and hide in a corner.
Solo Q is BAD because we are four people in a team where potentially 75% of the people is bad at the game versus a buffed new killer playstyle. I can't choose who I'm playing with so I have to suck it up and have a terrible experience or simply play something else.
Casual solo Q players are but pigs walking into a slaughterhouse. And it's not me saying it, it's killers as well.
And LoL is the same way. Most players are solo and can get shafted by teammates. But they have to balance for the high ranks where its competitive, its what makes sense for any game. And in an asymetrical game the 1 needs to be more powerful then a single one of the 4, or even more then that. And the 4 need to work together. And that dosen't happen alot in SoloQ. And thats with all team based competitive games. Sometimes...you just lose.

I've been running SB, Fixated, Urban Evasion and Vigil. I like to sneak and sprint away if they find me and stealth juke away on loops. I've also been running We'll Make It, Autodidact, Empathy, and Lithe. I know when people are hurt so I get a better view of the battlefield, I can go for big hook saves with massive heals, and lithe just to get away since I don't have fixated for SB. I want the Dev's to acknowledge there is a problem, whatever it takes.
They can collect their own data on inflated Kill rates if they chose/cared.
Try not to get too worked up.
The problem to me sounds like its people killing themselves on hook or feeding themselves to the killer. So let's hope they do do something about that.

I'm here in the SoloQ with you, I don't DC or kill myself on hook, and I've been having a great time with the extra challenge. I've actually been playing more survivor then killer since this update.

I am glad people are killing themselves on Hook/DC'ing.
Dev's only look at Kill/Escape rates so when they see a say 80% "Kill rate" for weeks, they will be obligated to do something.
So you want the Devs to do something about an artificially created statistic because you THINK killers need to be nerfed because survivors can't do anything so have to kill themselves on hook to make the devs think that the kill rates are too high that are being created by survivors killing themselves to inflate kill rates? My mind got a little dizzy after that...

-
They are camping because it works because most survivors are altrustic, and don't want to go do gens. Or they have a tracking perk that let them know someone is nearby and its foolish to leave the hook. Or its end game and it would be foolish to leave hook. Lots of reasons, and all of it counterable.
-
@Marigoria said:
We can blame both. People who farm you from the hook and the killers that are still tunneling and camping.
Sorry those are efficient tactics to win? Bring borrowed time if you want to give the saved more time. Try We'll make it for healing. Go do gens. Still an effective strategy against camping killers. And theres also the fact if a killer stays more then a second without leaving a hook some people consider it camping even if the killer knows someone is there waiting to save. I don't follow the Survivors Rulebook for Killers (There is no killer rulebook for survivor).
-
Sometimes its fine to tunnel or camp, don't play the Survivor Rulebook for Killers. (There isn't one for survivors) Its good to learn other skills as well, but sometimes if you know the enemy team is being altruistic or you have a chance to take someone out of the game, do it.

I'm not sure what your point is. That's a direct result of Behaviour never giving a ######### about solo queue and solos leaving as a result of a patch that has buffed killer games across the board.
Turns out, solo is a bigger chunk of the base than these big bad SWF god squads. Who could have guessed?
If that where true, my killer queue times would be up to astronomical levels, isntead of a minute wait, and my survivor queue times are down to 30 seconds, which indicates people are playing MORE killer. So likely a lot of solos just switched over to killer, and I'm sure a few left or are taking a break. But if it was actually massive numbers the queue times would be even more skewed, and they really aren't

@VcatoV86 said:
I don't think survivors are losing their minds at all. They are reacting to very real concerns. Let's take a look at a few things.
1.) Killers complained for years. Some of this was legitimate, some was not. Of particular concern: there were too many godloops (or even high tier loops), too many maps favored survivors, too many perks gave survivors extra chances to escape chases, gens popped too quickly, flashlights were too effective (pre adjustment), hooks were too far apart making sabotage too strong, maps were too dark making blendette a reality, etc. While many of these issues were compounded by SWF groups, killers still felt like they were very weak against survivors. In every single one of these instances, developers addressed the issue to favor the killer.
2.) Developers used to have a standard of 2k, 2e. 50% kill rate. Because killers, in your own words, "lost their mind," developers decided to increase their expectations for this amount. In a recent letter/data dump, they revealed that the rate is now up to 60% kill rate. They still said that they were unhappy with this number. I do not think that they want to increase it that much, but my guess is that they want to try to hit a rate of 3k, 1e.
3.) Having made all of these subtle, minute changes, they realized that killers were still getting their *** handed to them by skilled SWF groups. In some streams, the developers didn't even believe it! When faced with how powerful these SWF groups can be, the developers were stunned. Therefore, they decided to implement even more changes to assist killers.
So what's the problem? The data also shows that the vast majority of players are not a 4man SWF. Many are solo q, a large percentage are 2 man groups, and some 3. Additionally, and perhaps most surprising of all, they decided against an incremental approach where they can gather data, view the changes, and adjust as needed. Instead, they went nuclear: not only were they going to drastically shake up the meta (much needed, in my opinion), but they were also going to buff killers.
Some thought was put into how to prevent tunneling and camping, as that has easily become the most dominant strategy for the vast majority of killers (or, at the very least, tunnel 1-2 out so that the gens wouldn't pop so quickly). Unfortunately, by keeping hook timers the same and by increasing the overall average time to complete gens by 50%, they in fact buffed camping and tunneling.
As a result, we now have a situation where survivors--especially the majority in solo q or a smaller group, are now being repeatedly clobbered by killers. Killers are still camping and tunneling with impunity because, for many, getting the 4k is the most important thing in the world (as a random wondering, could this be due to the fact that they have increasingly added extra objectives for survivors in an effort to slow the game down while not doing likewise for the killer?).
Nowhere did I say that killers did not need to be buffed. Nowhere did I say that survivors did not need a meta shakeup.
But the fact that survivors are "losing their mind" (especially if you took a moment to read what they are really saying) points out a very real problem that the devs refuse, so far, to address.
I like your changes in bolding and italics, it really makes it seem like survivors never got any buffs or any of the survivor perks where changed. And while killers have reacted strongly, and certainly in some cases too strongly, so have survivors. But I have never seen anything like this on these forums EVER, and the doom and gloom that makes it seem like its IMPOSSIBLE to escape or pip is the reality of whats going on, rather then adjusting to how the game is played now. We don't know HOW this is going to affect things, but for me they seem to be in the better. Most killers where weak before thie update. Now most of them are at least playable, some are much better, and the ones that where already strong got stronger. Hopefully all of these problems will be adressed. But I think survivors are finally where they should be, as the numerous but weaker role that can only be strong together. Map Design is still ######### and still favors survivors, so be grateful that will likely never change.

Agreed. I wish this had all been factored in with solo queue improvements together as one update, because it would definitely be the most balanced this game has been in ages, if not ever.
But until that day, solo queue is overall abysmal at the moment. Sure, some people are doing good, or staying the same, and some are complaining because they were boosted. But I'd wager to say a bigger amount of survivors have complaints for valid reasons.
I think there are valid complaints, certainly. But I also feel like there is a lot of overreaction and doom and gloom; with some thinking survivors can't do anything without old meta perks. I disagree with those arguments. Its not the end of the world, even for SoloQ.

Deathgarden had a lot of problems, most pertaining to making a game that was competing with thier main product. Also the dent it would take to remove the survivor population that it would cause Killer queues to be as long as old Survivor queues would take A LOT.

@scenekiller said:
Again, for the 100th time, this has nothing to do with "getting good", "learning to loop" etc etc etc. Obviously some people are crying because they can't bully killers, but that isn't the actual issue here.
"Think like a killer has had to for years", except no. Killer's matches are affected by their own skills, and the mistakes of survivors. Solo survivors have to rely on their own skills, the mistakes of killers, AND their teammates not making mistakes. Killer skill plays a bigger role in a killer game than a solo survivor's individual skill does in a survivor game. No amount of my personal skill is going to get me an escape and raise my MMR if my teammates are going down in 20 seconds.
The result isn't "gg ez survivors don't have their precious crutches" - rather it highlights the glaringly huge flaws of an MMR system that prioritizes escape (through the gates, mind you - not hatch) as a measure of skill. It also highlights the drastic difference between solo and SWF even more than we already all knew.
DH needed it's nerf, this isn't debatable. And killer needed TLC. But there's also something to be said for the fact that good solo survivors need strong perks just to counteract the immense unreliability of their teammates, let alone to counter anything the killer does.
None of this is the killer's FAULT, of course - it's Behaviour's for not ever addressing solo queue. But that doesn't invalidate the complaints solo survivors are bringing up now.
I agree Solo Q needs something, I've been saying add voice chat to the game for ages, or at least a ping system. And if that was added, balance could start to be applied in more even way across the board.

I tried. But you equip them and the only thing you can say is... bad perk, trash, bad as hell, #########?, worst perk in the history,...
Then maybe try looking at them differently? Or take a break? If your not enjoying the current state of the game, getting some distance can be good. The thing for me is, it still feels like its completely possible to play Survivor, because I've been doing quite well at it since the patch, but that might be because I never played the meta before? So I'm used to looking at trash and trying to make it treasure, because I always felt survivor was too easy and wanted to do something fun instead of meta. While as Killer I felt I HAD to play Meta, and now I can have fun making non meta builds there.

I have 5.400 hours, I’m good looping, and this patch is the death of solo survs. You can’t loop a good killer with the new buffs and the new bloodlust. Survs perks were nerfed to the ground and killers still have very good perks. Do you imagine a survs perk that gives 15% of progression? Do you imagine a killer perk that let him see his red stain? Or a killers perk that let survs get 3 heal states? This is the kind of trash perk survs have
Bloodlust hasn't really changed,it is still 15 seconds for tier 1; and if you get past that its a problem for your ability and time managment as killer. DH was nerfed to the ground, and a few of the other meta ones where also nerfed. There is also plenty that was perfectly good before this patch, and some that got buffed. Killers as a whole got buffed, and thats fine. They've been needing it for awhile. It sounds like to me, and yes I'm going to infer here; is that you need to try out some new perks and some new builds and see what you can get going. And make sure to check if you pip, use that as a marker, because there is no true victory conditions in this game except the ones you set.

@LittleBigSunset said:
I'm not sure what the community's personal experience with the update has been, but mine has been awful.
As someone who enjoys running off-meta builds I was excited to experiment with the new survivor perks that had been buffed with this update. Unfortunately I didn't really get the chance to use them in more than half my games because I kept getting Nurses who (no exaggeration) had all of us slugged on the floor at four gens. It was as though the game hadn't changed at all and confirmed my fears that Nurses would become more prevalent since this update only makes her even stronger than before.
The base kit BT is laughable and did nothing in the games where a normal BT would have saved a survivor from getting tunnelled. It is very easy to wait out a five second BT. Since DS for some reason is now laughable as well (with a 3 second stun you may as well be stabbing them with a crayon) tunnelling was much more prevalent in the matches where we weren't all immediately slugged. I did not see OtR often if at all so I can't comment on that perk rework.
Gens take 90 seconds to repair now and killer gen regression has been buffed in a few areas. Although I find the gen speed decrease a fairly monotonous way to make the games last longer (who wants to hold a button for even longer than before?), it is understandable considering the amount of games I had pre-update where gens would fly in a single chase. No killer should experience that. Despite these changes, the killers I had took advantage of longer gens to instead camp out survivors because they knew now they were more likely to get away with it. Or they hard tunnelled at the start of the game even though in theory they should no longer need to to perform well at high MMR due to the buffs they recieved.
What I'm trying to get at is that I feel as though the update has changed nothing at all for the better from the survivor perspective. I'm sure killers are having a blast with these changes, I would be too, but ultimately for me I can't help but feel let down. I went onto the game yesterday hyped and quit it after a couple hours absolutely miserable. It is a shame. And I feel as though these changes were not made with solo queue players in mind. Playing solo queue is already a detriment as it is hard to coordinate and mistakes can be very hard to come back from. With these changes a single mistake could very possibly end the match for everyone. I understand that killers are supposed to be strong and feared but the best matches are the ones where it is not clear which side will emerge the victor. I don't want to play matches where effectively the game is over for us in the first couple of minutes because we have little chance of coming back from a mistake due to increased gen times etc.
All these points all in all have made me finally uninstall the game. Perhaps I am being cynical or got incredibly unlucky games but this update for me feels like it has done nothing to improve the game. In fact it has made it worse. Feel free to disagree with me, I know some people are loving the update and I'm happy they are. I just wish I could enjoy it too.
Maybe I'll be back for the next chapter. Who knows.
See ya on Monday!

Soulsborne games are NOT PvP games.... In any Soulsborne game, you LEARN from your mistakes and can get through the games this way. It is YOU who is in control. In DBD you play with REAL people with an actual brain and mind, not with bots. In Solo Q you are in the hands of the killer AND your random teammates. There is nothing one can do against being tunneled/camped hard (if a killer wants you out they will get you out no matter what, the new patch didn't change it at all) or handling coward and lazy teammates or toxic swfs. You cannot compare apples and oranges.
You uh...do know about invasions right?

Yep, everybody with more than 200 hours knew this would happen. Camping is already strong, increasing gen times without increasing hook times will just make is stronger and easier. Played several games where the killer face camped at 5 gens, one was a Myers, one was a Bubba. Both had Deadlock, No Way Out, and guess who ended up winning. But thank god killer mains can have their ego feed even though their side is basically a glorified hold w.
I think your mixing up survivors and killers on the hold W thing there. And I've gotten out of plenty of matches as a survivor since the patch. I've lost some too, but you know what, I usually pip, and I move on to another game. Or are do Survivors just want a free 4E?
-
@Tactrix said:
You guys don't see what's about to happen do you? Because Gen Rushing was addressed but tunneling and camping were made worse, this game will be super killer sided now. And for every killer who thinks that's a benefit think it through. Survivors will quit. Not slow down, QUIT. When that happens your que times will triple. But that won't fix anything, because the game will still be broken and killer sided. The only people who will not get 4k are the ones playing into SWFs or baby killers. And from that point you will see a heavy decline in the population of this game. Because as much as you laugh about survivors quitting, you need survivors to play this game. So have fun with that.
So its ok when it was survivor sided? Because I can tell which side will ALWAYS have the lower population, and its not survivors.

Honestly I kind of dig it ONLY because I don't need to worry about losing everything anymore. I can safely level up and prestige at my own leisure.
Realistically though you don't have to play that killer if you really don't want too. Just grind blood points on your main and ration them through both characters. Is it an annoying grind? Yes, but adapting is the key here, something a lot of people forget exist for some reason
Yeah, its more the grind, I don't actually play the other killer, its just annoying I'm forced to invest so much in someone I never want to play like the Artist
