As a Ex slinger main... i can downplay any of this post.. and in a actual decent way too,

I spoke about the slinger alot, saying the ONLY nerf he should get is the terror radius, that's about it.

But now? a Dead killer, which any survivor can react to and don't even need to have two braincells to use to dodge a damn hit,

and no. i ain't counting the Scripts or the Macros or w/e people use to exploit the aim to make it Instant ADS again,

Look i get where you're coming from, But don't comment on a Killer that shouldn't have been Nerfed in the first place.. He was 100% weak against Survivors that knew how to counter him so well,

Don't try to say "Oh he's still good" No, He's not.. He's a dead killer and he will remain that way,

Okay then how is he dead? Because all I see is actual counterplay. I don't see why he should be able to shoot survivors without any reaction time as that goes against any good design philosophy. Deathslinger desperately needed the nerf and saying he didn't is just a massive cope. In every loop you died just because you couldn't do anything against him. Vault? Shot. Run to the pallet? Shot. Fake it? Hit. In the open? Zig zag and lose distance or get shot. Every scenario with Deathslinger was a lose for survivors. And I actually have a fair amount of hours put into Deathslinger as well. I have him P3 and a handful of cosmetics along with knowing his mechanical side too. Reeling around corners and prediction are a big part of his kit and is what I consider his skill ceiling. With old Slinger you never had to use these though. Why would you when you could just noscope survivors like its BO2?

The "oh well you just never played the character" thing is a non-argument. It's like moral high ground. You can say things to paint me in a certain light to try and put yourself above me, but it doesn't disprove anything I've said. All you're doing is making a desperate attempt to discredit me in probably one of the most childish ways possible. I'd also like to add that you don't need a million hours in a character to say "oh okay that's bullshit". If anything you should've been the one playing against old Deathslinger. I've already stated in this reply the reasons why he was busted. If you don't see any design flaw with that then I don't think there's anything I could say to change your mind.

Please play the character before making the posts on a character was my point which you didn't get

Yea and my point was that yours is dumb. Saying "play duh chareecter!!!" means literally nothing. You don't want to make a valid point and would rather just write off everyone who disagrees with you as scrubs. If you can name any down side to being able to zone survivors in every possible way then please tell me. I'm interested in hearing.

Ey look, i found the "People that Don't Play Slinger, Yet Still Wanted Him Nerfed!"

If you played old slinger, you'd see how much disadvantages you had compare to now..

You're 110%, you can zone... better.i suppose. but at a shittier rate,

i don't want to #########' zone 24 / 7 on all my shots, i want to ACTUALLY quickscope people and drag them in through the hard hitting holes,

Now? People look at slinger like a old dog, waiting to be put down... Don't comment about how easy slinger was when you Never touched him,

Ah yes just try to downplay me because you really have nothing of value to say. A DBD forum classic.

You know based off people posts I can tell some people never play the killers they complain about and it's hilarious to hear people complain about something they've never tried to play themselves

Ikr. Anybody with a brain knew how busted old slinger was. I loved his design but always felt awful playing him since it was pretty much easy mode. You can still reel around corners which is arguably his biggest strength. Hole shots too but those were always a gimmick. He plays the exact same as before but now survivors have actual counter play instead of just going off of guess work alone.

  • People are just mad they don't have brain dead killers who win in every scenario. And that's not an exaggeration either. Old slinger literally won in every single situation just because survivors had no way to tell when he would shoot.

Old slinger was like huntress with no wind up time. So that's what they did to balance him. They made you have to plan shots instead of quickscoping when its convenient to. Slinger still has a lot going for him in a chase, people just don't care how to learn his mechanics because they're use to getting free hits.

  • Ruin makes the game feel really easy or it gets broken in the start of the match. It's not rewarding or fun to use because of how passive it is in nature. The only thing I have to do with ruin is chase people off of gens and keep up pressure. It's very useful but I like a little more challenge in my matches. Ruin is a crutch especially with some of the ruin dedicated builds you can use. And I just don't feel good using that.

But I also don't see people use ruin correctly. There's been many matches where the killer will commit to one person the whole game and then tell my team that we're gen rushers. If you want ruin value you need to learn a very basic killer tactic, pick your chases wisely.

  • Less meta and more of a good choice for variety. I personally hate playing with regression perks because I think they're boring for both parties. So No Way Out is actually a good alternative. It gives me that little bit of extra time when I need it the most. I've had plenty of games where I'm given ample time to snowball because of this perk. It generally feels more rewarding to use as well because you're actually doing something skillfull instead of kicking a gen or pushing someone off of a gen. Those endgame kills feel earned, unlike the empty victory of Bloodwarden and NOED.

the funny thing though is the survivors COMPLAIN about camping when they play this way. That's what I find very awkward.

Yet you're somehow more justified in complaining then they are? I find that pretty awkward too...

If you're always playing optimal SWF, you're always going to run into the same builds, just because those are the only builds outside of a very limited number of killer players that are likely to achieve anything at all. If you want to see more builds, you're going to have to play worse to find a point that other things are viable. I think that's the point they're making?

I don't know how you expect killers to magically "play better" and give more build variety. If everyone at your group's MMR is playing one way, there's probably a reason.

But playing worse for the sake of someone who isn't good shouldn't be the fix for the issue. If that player is worse than you then you should win. Killers at high mmr don't really need to play well, they just need kills. So camping killers who run 4 slowdowns are somehow better than a guy who uses no slowdown yet still 4ks without camping? The system is flawed and only rewards players for using the cheapest tactics they can to get the upper hand. High mmr alone doesn't make you good.

The reason they play that way is because it's easier to be a meta #########. If you somehow lose with 4 slowdowns you don't belong at high mmr, yet you get there because there's no middle ground with it. You're either noob stomping or you're facing survivors who aren't dumb and are out of your skill level. 2 slowdowns alone make the game so easy and brainless that it gets really boring fast. But many players rely on these perks to make up for their terrible time management. Yes, the game is noticeably harder without slowdown perks, but you also improve so much by taking off your training wheels.

Devs release stronger and stronger perks for survivors while being careful or nerfing anything that looks like a threat on the killers side. what do you expect?

People figured out that playing safe and holding W will win you the game if people do gens, and since escaping is all that matters to the mmr ranking there is no reason to interact with the killer or try to advance emblems.

They have ruined it and are doing nothing to fix the issue because trash tier survivors inflate the numbers and it is all the devs care about.

Many perks themselves aren't broken in concept, but more in terms of abusing game mechanics. Killers have also gotten some really nice changes. Plague, Trapper, Demo, Pig, Wraith and probably some others I haven't mentioned got some pretty significant buffs in the past few months. Killers do need to be balanced. Just because survivors have a few iffy things doesn't mean that killers can just get guaranteed downs now, which is what a lot of the nerfs have been based around. I'm talking more about Deathslinger and Spirit which is what I would assume you're talking about because they're the only ones who have received significant nerfs recently. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Before someone says it though, Spirit and Deathslinger were never trash and are still good while having the same mechanics they had before. Bad 1v4 doesn't matter if you can down survivors in 20 seconds consistently. Especially if you know how to spread pressure and punish survivors. All that changed was giving survivors information that they can realistically react to.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/295818/this-game-is-the-stalest-it-s-ever-been-right-now

    That's your MMR, I think.

The problem is that unless you are an insanely good player, it's very difficult to compete against high level SWFs without relying on specific killers or perks. Everyone else starts falling off and you just won't see much of them.

If you ease up in your games a bit, you'll see a much bigger variety.

Otherwise, you're going to have to start adjusting specific maps and probably give a number of killers pretty strong, Plague level reworks to create more variety in high MMR play.

How do they ease up? Why should they have to intentionally play worse just because killers cant keep up with them?

Plus there's a lot of no brain killer builds that people use outside of high mmr anyways. Mmr makes it worse but it's not the sole reason people use them, just an incentive.

  • It was entirely needed. Many chase situations were just "Deathslinger the cutscene" as you literally lost in every possible scenario. He could shoot you during a vault animation. He could shoot you before you turned a corner. There was no warning to when you're going to get shot so you just had to guess, and whether or not you were right resulted in whether or not you got hit. Luck is not a good balance design. It was the same issue with Spirit in that all you could do was guess. And you can't guess right 100% of the time so you were bound to go down from being zoned or caught by the spear. There wasn't an alternative. You shouldn't have to rely on the other player being bad just to stand a chance.

Deathslinger as he stands now is literally the exact same as he was before. People don't like the change because they have to actually try to shoot survivors instead of getting free hits. You can still reel around loops, do hole shots and even zone a little bit. They fixed Deathslinger by doing what they did with Huntress, which is giving him a wind up time. And that should've been something that he had on release.

No killer should ever be able to just cancel their power instantly. It removes any sort of punishment for using it poorly. If you use it at the wrong time and decide "oh wait I don't want to do that now" you should pay a little price for that. A lot of people in this forum don't really care or have a legitimate sense on what balance is. To some balance is whatever helps them win in the easiest way possible.

Lots of exaggeration in this post. A whole lot. You don't have to use certain perks. You make yourself use them. Unless you're playing the best in the world on a consistent basis, I can't take your post seriously.

welcome to the dbd forums. its an echo chamber for killer mains.

  • It's always been that way. Look at any comp scrimage or whatever and every match will play the exact same. It's the safest and best way to play the game for both sides really. If we're talking about wins. Sadly the most efficient way to play dbd is the most boring version of the game.

  • There's so many people in this thread who have no clue how blights mechanics work. The whole balance of his power is that you don't get it back immediately. Having an add-on that lets him catch up with you right after his recovery animation goes against the design philosophy with him. Pair that with all the blights who exploit his mechanics to get impossible angles on you, then it's basically gg. It has very little counter play, especially when paired with blighted crow. You can't run into the open, you cant run away after being hit, you can't make distance, so what do you do?

The only people who defend this add-on are one sided killer mains huffing on copium.

  • I only hear howling wind because I'm actually the next dbd survivor u guys just don't know it yet.

    Right, I agree.

But survivor perks also need to be "reworked", especially Dead Hard.

Survivor gameplay varies in balance due to map generation. DH is a problem but it's not a huge focus rn. Generally survivor gameplay is balanced for both sides in a perfect setting (no strong tile connections, no dead zones, etc.) but that happens once in a blue moon.

lmao thank you dw about pronouns with me though

  • I don't think he should be able to directly hook BUT I can think of something that would work. You can have Victor maul survivors on the ground which would mori survivors on its own timer. The way to get him off would be to just kick him off. It's a system that would allow the twins to really be two places at once. I can see camping be an issue but if you're too close then it slows down the timer. Little tweaks like that to make it work without securing kills for free.

It's risk reward too. You lose Victor for a short amount of time but also you can take a survivor out of the game potentially. It lets them spread pressure instead of just having to slug the whole team or having survivors get up before you can reach them.

  • @Bennett_They1Them said:

honestly. I find this game 90-95% really inclusive, and 5% horrid.

I wouldn't say anywhere near 90% but DBD definitely has good acceptance overall as a community.

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2634918#Comment_2634918

Then you would just have one less perk to choose from at high mmr.

Perks don't really matter if you're a good killer. You can make any build work but it's having the skill to not rely on the meta to do all the hard work for you. It is definitely harder, but still not impossible.

Still though, that doesn't count for the survivors who stack things on top of each other for the best advantage they can get. Sometimes there's not a lot you can do in that situation.

  • @GannTM said:

It was Wraith before his nerf. Terrible decision by the devs to nerf him.

Wraith just got his add-ons adjusted. He plays the exact same.

  • Sadly there's a lot of queerphobia and racism in gaming as a whole. Any game with a lead who isnt a cis white person is usually criticized harshly for even the smallest things. And this extends to irl too. Scummy people will try to push marginalized groups out of the gaming sphere through brute force due to their own prejudice.

  • @Shroompy said:

    Blight

Because its not Blight thats the problem, its the perks that are commonly ran with him

Yea what needs to change is the ruin and tinkerer playstyle. It basically means that he's always going to push you off of gens the entire game and run away when another tinkerer pops. Really boring gameplay. I think an easy fix for it would be to only have tinkerer trigger once per gen. This hurts tinkerer obviously, but at the moment its only used for this playstyle and not really anything else.

  • People weren't ready to hear this. You told them the truth and now their whole world comes crumbling down.

  • The thing is they don't really need to be nerfed atm. What needs to be fixed are game mechanics that make them abusable. The thing is though is that people say they want the meta changed, yet they don't want to stop running ruin+undying and all that stuff. They want the meta changed for survivors, but not for themselves.

Pinhead isn't fun to go against in Solo Queue tbh.

Plauge Vomits everywhere? Going to instant cleanse!

Chain Hunt active? Eh, I don't feel like picking up the box. The killer might come get me or something.

This. Pinhead is only good against solo-que because of the lack of coordination. A lot of people are chalking it up to whining but that only goes to show they don't understand that solo-que is literally the worst experience in the game. Pinhead only exacerbates this by having a power that punishes survivors for not coordinating well. Which is the hardest part of solo-que.

  • whats scary is the fact that we have another killer that can zone you out of loops. again. for the 4th time now. yknow the thing that people hate going against?

I'm offended as a dedicated Smash Hit Player that I was not included within this conversation :(

i literally forgot the perk existed lmao

  • As far as I'm aware it only eats Huntress hatchets. Many of the things that people say DH cancels are either really small inconviences or pre existing bugs.

  • I feel like this would screw up flashlight saves altogether. Even if you time it right on your screen you can basically just not get it because the killer doesn't see it that way. You can't time it later or anything either because they'll still look away. It'd basically gut flashlights.

  • I don't get why the first reaction to a controversial change is to point the finger and say "the devs are ____!"

Many of the things they have changed recently are actually really good. They fixed Spirit and Deathslinger while giving weaker killers (Trapper, Wraith, Plague, and a couple others) buffs. If they were survivor sided, then we'd still have old DS. And I don't mean the one that didn't deactivated after being unhooked. I mean the one that stunned you for picking up the survivor. Pallets and flashlights wouldn't require timing still. Infinites would still be prominent in every map.

The game has come really far, it's just easier to focus on what's wrong atm and be upset about that then look back on all the stupid ######### that existed before. And I'm not saying that BHVR shouldn't be held accountable for the games current state just because it used to be worse. But they also should be given credit for trying.

Acting like the game favors one side over the other solely because the devs like that side is childish. If you're upset then address the issue. Don't point fingers and use playground politics to justify how you feel.

Like I said I only want the first 2, I was just listing things you could do. His power is actually okay just needs tweaks not a full rework like people say.

I just hate how my bottles share ammo lol

Yeah the shared ammo is pretty dumb. It hinder what you can actually do with his power which should never be a thing.

  • Stealth is occasionally stronger than distraction. It's just if it's utilized in the right way. If it's stealth to the point of no altruism and just letting some poor soul take aggro the entire game while you do gens, then that's #########. Plus if the killer is smart and catches on to that then he will start checking around gens and your whole team is screwed. If the killer can't find you he can't kill you. Which means he can't snowball or kill anyone fast enough to make a difference. Too much of any one thing is bad ig is what I mean.

  • I think the slow vaulting pallets is a little overkill. You wont stand a chance in a chase if that were implemented. I do understand that it's an anti-loop ability, but that shouldn't mean that survivors die solely because of the power existing. Clowns kit just kind of sucks really. It's not useful and I wish that the rework would've actually adressed this. All we got is a new mechanic thats rarely helpful and some QOL changes.

  • I still have yet to face a spirit after her nerf. I want to play against her so I can learn the new mechanics. Guess that won't happen since she's not an ez 4k machine now.

  • I don't think any killers are necessarily "weak" more so that their power designs are kinda bad. Legion is pretty bad in terms of power but being able to injure multiple people in a matter of seconds with a small delay is actually not entirely awful. They just don't have anything in chase unless they use Franks Mixtape.

I'd also like to mention Ghost face because his instadown is harder to snowball with than Myers. Not to mention people can break you out from 40 meters away (i think thats the range). Most of his power is getting lucky and hoping the survivors dont see you or they just can't break you out because of the bad mechanics. It could be argued that his stealth is good for mindgames but a really easy way to counter that is to camp pallets since you'll usually just see him coming on either side.

  • bubbas are delicate creatures and if u do just ONE thing to make them mad then they do this. its like pissing off a bull.

  • They do it with almost every cosmetic. Nothing in this game is exclusive anymore since its more profitable to be able to sell it again later. Same goes with everything in the rift.

  • I agree that Nemesis needs an actual fitting power. The tentacle was the easiest and worst route because of its simplicity. I would actually love the rocket launcher idea. It could travel at the speed of an uncharged hatchet. Thing is you can only spawn one rocket launcher and get only a couple of shots with a small explosion radius. It could work like plagues corrupt vomit.

He just needs something that feels like Resident Evil. But dbd and RE play so differently it's hard to do that within the game. One is a slow while the other is intense and fast with tons of gunplay. They don't really mesh well but I'm still glad we got the cross over.

  • implying that killers have ever enjoyed dbd

  • Survivors should die the second they load into the match. I think its fair because boons or something like that. Its op.

  • Welcome to the salty killer convention! Held once a week on the forums it seems.
