  • I remember back when the hair framing her face was styled in large curls. After they updated it, it's looked more like Farrah hair, and they seem to be keeping with that. It makes me sad.

A face at rest has a closed mouth, and if it doesn't that suggests an overbite or mouth-breathing habit, neither of which is healthy/attractive. Her nose looked better before. In the video, the old Kate looks sexy, and the new one looks... well, strange.

I main Kate, but her boobs and butt won't make up for a ruined face. I'll have to switch to maining Ash or something.

Edit: Some T-poses have the mouth open, others don't. But the shape of her lip and the lack of shadowing at her teeth still make her look like she has an overbite: her teeth appear too large, too far forward, and like there's a larger-than-preferable gap between the two front ones. On her old model, it looks like her teeth are a bit too recessed. Like always, BHVR is terrible at the whole middle-ground thing.

  • I mean... the MMR can never work "perfectly" due to the limitations of the playerbase it pulls from. It will put together matches that are unbalanced in order to make sure that people get to play rather than wait forever in a queue. The difference will be where it originally starts looking for players and the method it uses to widen the search.

Also, when those unbalanced matches do happen, the system will recognize that it was unbalanced and adjust the MMR accordingly. Right now, ranking up is rigidly standardized; with MMR, context will matter. For example, the system isn't going to see a highly experienced player winning against total newbies as a big accomplishment.

(I'm going by what the devs have said in the past. There's always a chance they've since changed course.)

  • I'm a mediocre survivor at best. I got put into matches with a bunch of newbie survivors with even lower ranks than me, and we were put up against red rank killers who slaughtered us with at most one gen done. It was bad.

I haven't tried playing killer, yet.

Frame drops cause me to get spun and it’s a lot easier when I’m in frenzy. I just got the twins and the first game i played I literally could bot pounce as victor. On the third I went against a swf. The pouncing thing happened to my brother too but that was just a one time thing so far at least. Survivors will run into me and mess with the autoaim.

I hate that Legion gets kicked out of Feral Frenzy when he misses an attack. It's so unnecessary, and on console that just damns him to the junk pile. A killer being heavily punished for whiffing is not something that console players can reasonably deal with.

Yeah. But some karma moments were delicious. I had a few good ones with Myers. Once Instead of 0k I got nearly 4k (it was 3k) because people thought it was a good idea to bully Myers in the open near closed gate instead of leaving through another one without knowing I was close to tier 3. Downed 3 of them, hooked two. One managed to get to the exit gate but tbaged in unsafe distance, downed by my lunge and hooked. Last one crawled to the hatch.

lol the first half of the video I posted shows a Myers punishing two Claudettes for sticking around after the gates are open instead of just leaving. I don't get how survivors forget tier 3 is a thing, Myers can pop that at any second, but I've seen survivors goof off within arm's reach like they're invincible because they're healthy.

  • I was spectating after escaping, and for some reason Laurie decided to stay behind and annoy the killer...

Survivors sticking around after the gates were open for no good reason was such a ridiculously stupid problem back then. I'm so glad there's a timer on that crap, now.

It was one of the bigger map complaints among players, and the devs made corn blindness worse. Worse.

    Ooh

    That's a really good one!

Also why is it always the Dwights that are annoying with flashlights?

Thanks. 😀 Whether I'm playing killer or survivor, unnecessary EGC deaths that happen because the survivor was cocky are my favorites.

Good question, I've had a bunch of jerky Dwights with flashlights in my time.

I had a recent match where I was screwing around with the survivors, and I think it was a Dwight who kept trying to blind me (futile, because I run Lightborn, but annoying when I try to look away and they keep at it, the beam is still bright). This Bill, bless his heart, put himself between me and the flashlight, blocking it, maneuvering himself to stay in front of the beam as Dwight kept trying to aim around him. It was one of the sweetest things I'd ever seen.

lol sorry, I think I spilled some warm fuzzies in your karma thread 😄

  • This was a good while back, but it's one of my favorites. I was playing friendly Nurse, and three of the survivors were quite nice in return, but there was this one Dwight who kept shining his flashlight at me and acting like a jerk. Well, it's EGC, the timer is almost up, and I see him running to the exit. I have this feeling in my gut that he is expecting me to hit him on his way out and propel him to freedom. So... I didn't hit him. He was an inch away from escaping when the Entity took him.

Judging by your avatar are you a Jake main? @VanitasRyuzaki

The reason I ask is because Bubbas might want Jake face for their collection. Jakes are the rarest to see out of the original four survivors so when a Bubba finds one they probably want to secure the kill. Not saying that makes face camping any more tolerable but that might be the reason behind it. Assuming you do play Jake.

I need to bring Bubba back out. I have three of the survivor masks unlocked, but there's still one I haven't yet earned.

Sorry man, the one I'm missing, it's Leaderface.

  • It's Bubba's power. Some killers have powers that counter certain survivor perks. It used to be that Undetectable and the Oblivious status effect countered Borrowed Time, which meant a bunch of perks and killer powers rendered Borrowed Time useless.

Now, for countering BT, it's just Bubba and... does Oni's Demon Strike still counter Borrowed Time? That's strong, having the only counters to a perk being Bubba and maybe Oni. Even the Exposed status effect doesn't counter BT.

  • I think I have a little over 95k. I bought the Look-See cosmetic for Doc, so that ate into my savings a bit and dropped me below 100k, but I'm working my way back up.

  • I understand why killers do it. I've never messaged any killer and complained about it.

But I don't enjoy it, it feels crappy. A lot of times I'll say to my TV, "Dude, really?" I often don't want to be playing survivor in the first place, I'll be doing it for a Tome challenge or something, and I play solo, so when matches aren't fun they feel super miserable. Especially since I don't really care about escaping, I just want a chance to participate and play the game, and when I get tunneled out right away... that's not a game. Why did I even need to be there for that? I didn't get to do anything, shove in an empty husk and put me in a match where I get a chance to actually participate.

Again, I understand that it's a tactic and I've never given anyone crap about how they played. My feelings are about my own experience. I move on to the next match, but if I'm having an unlucky day and I get tunneled out a bunch I'll turn off the game and play something else.

I posted an answer. I just didn’t directly quote the question.

Ah, you mean the "concrete numbers" thing with points instead of percentages? Personally, I think that's more confusing than the percentages, but I don't know how others feel about it.

A lot of stuff in this game is learned as you play. Survivors running tier 3 Iron Will don't hear themselves while injured... until they come across a killer running Stridor, and then they do hear themselves. They get a warning that the killer is countering their perk. They read the killer's perks on the end screen, and if they didn't already know it then they learn Stridor counters Iron Will. Unless a survivor main goes online to read about killer perks, they're really not going to know much about killer perks until they come across them in the game and they learn through experience. Whether they accept that the math is additive or come online and claim the perks are bugged depends on the person.

I said from the get go that I knew how it worked, but none of you listened. You only hear what you want to. I just pointed out the way math is “supposed” to work. You’re the ones arguing against the way things are taught in school, not I.

You ended your original post with "discuss." I don't think people really know what you want from them, so they're replying the same way they would to any other post about this topic.

I asked "How should it be phrased to avoid confusion in the future?" I can only assume that because you didn't post an answer, it means you don't have one, so maybe that is the question you're asking everyone else to answer. But you didn't actually ask it: you just said "discuss."

If rephrasing the perk text is not the topic you want to discuss, then I'm as baffled as everyone else. It's unreasonable to be upset at people for not answering a question you didn't ask.

  • Even though I don't really play her anymore, I've always wanted Sadako and Kayako skins for Spirit. If you want something really horrifying, Komomo from Imprint (with the needles).

With a minimum amount of effort, Spirit's bandages could be turned into ribbon for a great Christmas set.

    DVkF7ilV4AAzy9y.jpg

For Kate, my main main survivor, I'll say a French maid outfit.

I also play as Yui, and she deserves a Japanese race queen outfit. Hell yes.

PS4 has a native video recording application: the same button you press to get a screenshot brings up the option to retroactively save a video recording of your gameplay. In the options you can set up how much time it automatically records (15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour).

I think most Killers expect way too much from the game. They expect to win far more often, but most Killers are also pretty bad.

And well, it is not only BBQ. You can say that Killers already get 30%-50% more BPs just by playing. A mediocre Killergame is a really good Survivor-game, when it comes to BPs. BBQ just adds to this, because you dont have to go out of your way to get the Stacks, you just play the game.

So I can only shake my head if people say there should be more BPs for playing Killer. You already get around 90k BPs when playing a game with BBQ and Pudding, this is a lot.

I expect a game to be fun, but DbD has a lot of problems making killer fun.

A year and a half back I was trying to learn Nurse. With the low fps and frame drops on console, it wasn't easy, but I was having fun with the challenge. Kills? Forget it, I was thrilled if I actually managed to get my BBQ 4-stack, but I still had fun. Then Nurse got a cool down added on top of her fatigue, and she went from a fun challenge to a miserable chore.

Cool downs are built into killer powers and perks. Stuns are built into some killer powers and the game is always adding more ways for survivors to stun killers. Sure, those things are needed for balance, but they're not fun, and then you add to those the bugs and the low fps and frame drops (which are problems across the board but get worse with some killers)... there's only so much any player can take before they just don't want to deal with that crap anymore. Like me with Nurse, now. I could get a 4k with Nurse and I'd still hate playing as her. That's bad when even winning isn't fun.

It's not about BP or 4ks. Points and kills don't retroactively change a bad experience into a good one.

@Northener1907 Unfortunately, it's unlikely this game will keep new players when the RE chapter comes out. Skill-based matchmaking is still not implemented, so experienced and inexperienced players will get thrown in together, and that means the new, inexperienced players are going to have a bad time.

Beyond the regular idea of killer being fun or unfun, there was also the addition of crossplay across all platforms. Due to the limitations of console there are fewer killer players, but the console playerbase is not small, so there's a good possibility that console brought in a crapton of survivor players and not nearly enough killers. If that's the case, the only thing that might ever smooth that bump out is optimization and controller settings. Until then, PC players get screwed in the queue by our console issues.

In no way does BBQ prevent proxying a hook or hard camping.

Some players will even use BBQ as an excuse to stay near the hook when no auras are shown.

When a survivor is hooked, the killer knows where at least one survivor is and can assume that more survivors will be coming over shortly. The alternative to staying near the hook is patrolling gens, but there are multiple gens and the killer doesn't know which one(s) survivors are at. If the killer walks away from the hook, there's no guarantee they'll find someone on a gen, and the hooked survivor could then be saved and now the killer has nothing.

BBQ shows auras of far-away survivors so that now the killer knows where someone besides the hooked survivor is. It lets them feel more confident leaving the hook.

If BBQ doesn't show anyone, then it's not a surprise that the killer doesn't leave the hook, which would be the same result if the killer wasn't running BBQ at all. BBQ can give the killer a reason to leave the hook, but that reason requires auras to be shown, and no perk can force the killer to leave the hook because the killer is a person, not a bot.

    Never happen.

They've always struggled with performance issues even with only 5 players in a match.

    10?

    Have fun playing a slideshow.

    ^ This.

@lolifasad The game is poorly optimized, I don't think it could handle more players per match. The devs already said they'd optimize their game, and we console players haven't let them forget that, but the devs have been pretty silent on that front. DbD still performs well below expectations.

The game has one mode right now. One. And it's buggy as hell. There are bugs that have been around for years and still aren't fixed.

The game needs to be improved to work properly with its current mode of five players. We don't even have that. Ten players? Oof. We'd be lucky if we got a slideshow. It's quite likely at ten players DbD would just outright crash.

  • I have thousands of hours and I'm terrible, absolutely terrible at the game. Some people just plateau and don't get better, no matter the number of hours.

The game needs skill-based matchmaking. The devs are working on it, but it's not ready yet. No idea if and when it ever will be, unfortunately.

who uses wake up and breakdown if any of those are in your lineup ever you’re ass

... You have no idea what those bugs were, do you?

When those perks were bugged, their usage went through the roof, because Wake Up gave a speed boost to all actions throughout the entire match, and Breakdown broke each hook permanently.

  • This is just like your previous griefing thread, except now you've replaced "griefing" with "unsportsmanlike conduct."

The rules for what constitutes unsportsmanlike conduct are right there in the game: it's that the player either intentionally lost or they stopped playing because they were losing (they went AFK or rage quit). It's pretty specific.

Just because you don't like something doesn't make it "griefing" or "unsportsmanlike conduct." The definitions of those things are given on the report screen.

Even if banning all the players doing that stuff didn't kill the game (which it really might, there already aren't enough killers during peak play hours), I don't think BHVR sells enough cosmetics to afford to hire the number of people it would require to sift through every single report if slugging, tunneling, and camping became bannable offenses.

The often proposed solution would be additional objectives like gas cans, fixing cables or finding gen parts.

Which is more interesting than holding m1 for ages.

But the devs don't seem to consider those changes. Which brings us back to the statement that survivors get balanced around low skill gameplay, while killers get balanced around high skill gameplay.

Some sort of change to the gameplay is really needed.

I never played F13 but I heard a bit about it. Having different objectives that could be done sounded nifty. Every single DbD map comes down to the same thing: there are gens, find them and sit on them. You're in a junk yard? Fix gens. You're in a school? Fix gens. You're in a secret lab, a police station, the Old West? Fix gens. And that's it. It's not even like, "Fix gens and light the candles on the Yamaoka shrines." It's just fix gens.

In some ways it feels like DbD's gameplay is a placeholder that never got built on. Gens with no other objectives. Hooks and one mori, no other kill animations, no environmental kills. Survivors can hide... in lockers, but nowhere else. There are no map hazards.

Sorry, I'm veering off topic. Gen times are bad and need fixing. A while back the devs mentioned an early game slowdown, but I don't know whether that's still in the works or totally scrapped. My guess would be they don't know how to balance an early game slowdown so they're not disproportionately buffing killers who can already dominate without it.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2240219#Comment_2240219

Then don't use them. The devs just look at the stats, see that everyone uses them, think they did a pretty good job and won't change anything in that regard.

It's one of the reasons I stopped using NOED. Devs see 2 or 3 kills and think everything is fine, while the killer just got 4 or 5 hooks during the whole match.

    ^ This.

I personally don't run gen slow-down perks. I don't wanna, they're boring. I'd rather run a fun meme-y build, even if it means I have to cycle through matches before finally getting a chance to really use it. If survivors wanna come in, rush through gens, and leave without making hardly any points, that's fine, I'll get into another match almost instantly.

Gens are a bad mechanic in general. Sitting in one spot holding M1 for over a minute is not thrilling gameplay. This is generally accepted as true, which is why no one wants longer gen times, but the things can be completed so damn fast. I don't think there's a happy medium here because games are supposed to be fun but gens are so [BAD WORD]ing boring.

If they could make it like it was a little while ago where if the grab is cancelled it causes a hit that'd be great. Now I'm just stuck there with my arm out for a few seconds while the Survivor gets a head start to the nearest loop at full health.

This is the worst part about the broken grabs. It wouldn't be so bad if the grab got canceled and the survivor took a hit, instead, but nope.

It's not even like the killer presses a special button to go for the grab. It's the M1! It's the same button as a normal hit! The game itself makes the decision of what to do and then says, "Nah, screw you." ?!?!?!?!?!

  • I always bring out Ghost Face with Furtive Chase, Nemesis, A Nurse's Calling, and Make Your Choice for these obsession challenges.

  • Mostly fog makes my PlayStation's fans go [BAD WORD]ing nuts, like jet engines.

But, the offerings can cut down on vision. I dunno what it's like for PC players, but playing on my console on my TV screen the Elodie literally disappears (cannot see her at all) while crouching there as the fog rolls over her. I'm at one end of the exit gate, she's at the other, so the distance isn't that great.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrTEa5XhaXQ

  • It'd be nice if the devs changed the hatch mechanic so that it doesn't spawn at all until either only one survivor is left (in which case it spawns open) or all five gens are done. This would help with hatch campers, and it would fix the problem of multiple survivors escaping with a key without completing all the gens.

The funny thing about skilled Huntress is that its 20 on PC. I think they got the Hex cleansing values and Huntress values mixed up for the achievements.

It used to be 100 for Skilled Huntress on all platforms, but the devs were able to change it to 20 everywhere except on PlayStation, because Sony's a real hardass about that: as long as the achievement is technically possible, it can't be changed, no matter how difficult or unreasonable.

I don't know why the Hex totem one is so low. I always thought that was weird, especially since it's the only gold trophy and all the others are bronze or silver.

  • Pig's stun noise. It's adorable.

  • The rarest one I have is Multi-Tasker.

I'm only missing two achievements: Skilled Huntress (100 downs on PS4, %$^$%^!$%&^$) and Insult and Injury (I just haven't bothered).

I dunno which one I'd say was hardest. If I ever get it, Skilled Huntress will be the hardest one, hands down.

  • I feel really clumsy these days when I choose Spirit. I can't track via sound, I have problems following scratch marks, and I often seem to choose wrong if I try to predict their actions.

It seems the correct way to use Spirit is to use her power to get the second hit, but I can't use her power in a chase. If I don't get the first hit with her power then I have to get both hits without it. Back in the day I used to be able to sneak up on survivors on gens, but that doesn't work anymore, so... I got nothin'.

  • It'd be nice if when people try to have fun as killer survivors would play along, at least a little.

Watched my friend try to do a Trapper Daily. The survivors burned a Gateau. Two stepped in traps, and he picked them up and dropped them a little ways off so they could be healed while he reset the traps. They refused to step in any more, they'd only try to disarm them. They did gens, broke hooks, and mostly tried to avoid interacting with him until the end when all they wanted to do was gloat against the friendly killer. They mostly got crap for BP, a real waste of time and a Gateau.

When I play killer, I don't camp, I avoid tunneling, and I've never been one to run gen slowdown perks, yet back when I had messages on I got complaints about tunneling (if I killed) or being ass at killer (if I was friendly). Nowadays, I run really dumb perks, I often don't down anyone, I avoid focusing on anyone, and lots of times I even pretend not to see hiding survivors since they don't want to be chased, yet survivors still will be determined to find ways to be jerks. When they do that, I have to assume that means they want me to leave them alone entirely, so I just go break walls and open the exit gate to move on to the next match. It really makes me think they don't want killers on the map at all. Gen repair sim seems boring to me, but maybe I'm the minority.

Personally, when I play survivor, the problem is usually other survivors more than anything. Sure, there are some killers who aren't fun to go against, but it feels so much worse to get screwed by your own teammates.

Killers should just be bots at this point, that way they can play the same way by the same rules every match. They can be programmed to go easy on potatoes so that bad matchmaking doesn't screw everyone over. Boom, problem fixed, survivors will have fun every time.

Or the game needs more structure. If it had more structure, it could limit unfun playstyles and ensure both sides always feel like they had an opportunity to play in every match. A lot of people play to win, and they'll do whatever it takes to win: in this game, that means rushing through and limiting your opponent's chances to participate. Hooking, slugging, killing, all those remove the survivor from participating. If survivors focus on the gens, rushing through them, or go immersed, they can limit the killer's chances to participate. The fun is supposed to be the back-and-forth, but the lack of structure has it so that cutting that back-and-forth down to the bare minimum is the easiest way to prevail. It's bad design because it's human nature to go with the easiest path.

  • I haven't really played her since they took away her collision while phasing, but when I did it was because I liked using her phasing to surprise survivors. I can't track via sounds, so I can't play to win with her or anything, but I love sneaking up on survivors when they're not expecting it. In the middle of a chase with one survivor I'd phase and then pop up on top of a totally different survivor. I really enjoyed doing that.

I miss it, actually, but all my matches now have 3 or 4 survivors running Spine Chill, and I don't like trying to crab walk or moon walk or whatever the hell to work around it, it just feels stupid.

  • I hate how scratch marks on Ormond are damn near invisible.

And sometimes scratch marks seem really delayed, like I'll be trying to chase someone and I'll have to stop and wait for the next segment of scratch marks to appear.

  • I got Trapper.

It should've asked, "Do you like setting up at the beginning of a match?" I don't mind tiering up as Mikey, but going around setting traps as Trapper or Hag... not really my thing.

I took the quiz a second time and got Hag followed by Huntress.

    Something has gone horribly wrong.

emh, i play the game in spanish so i think there is no difference between ruthless and merciless on spanish. From what I remember, it can only come out as a state in the Spanish language: Ente disgustado(disgusted entity) , Asesino brutal(brutal murderer) or something like that, i dont remember actually, and Victoria despiadada(ruthless victory). I don´t know if im losing something but i appreaciate your response

Ah, okay. Well, the difference is that Ruthless is one pip and Merciless is two pips. The requirements for Merciless change depending on your rank, but in general it means getting four iridescent emblems.

  • A Ruthless victory isn't enough, it needs to be Merciless.

Trapper is one of the killers whose power can hurt his emblem scores: a survivor getting caught in a trap can be bad for Chase points. It helps to down a trapped survivor with his M1 before picking the survivor up, rather than grabbing the survivor out of the trap, but the only surefire way to maximize emblem points is to not use traps at all.

  • Yup, that's the grind, Bloodwebs are full of garbage we don't want. Can't choose the perks that appear, can't sell back the items, offerings, and add-ons we don't want. You can spend millions trying to get a specific map offering and never see it. The RNG has a very expensive way of screwing players over.

The Kates all reacted to my friendly overtures as a hivemind, but the Bill needed coaxing on his own. Alright, SWF and a solo. At one point the Kates gesture me to a hook and I figure they want hook farms, so I hook one of them and they unhook. They point to Bill, who's just sitting there placidly, so I hook him next.

They won't touch him. They just fake out unhooking him and tbag, and after half a minute of this they wander off to a nearby gen. I shake my head no at them and eventually pluck one off the gen to bring back to Bill - I wiggle them off next to the hook and kebab poor Bill to get my point across. No dice, the Kate just runs back to the gen. I do this again to the same result, and Bill dies on hook.

I was going to turn hostile at that point because I was really upset about that, but another one of the Kates had built me a shrine of items and I was just disgruntled and confused, so I waited out the rest of the match to ask them why the hell they let Bill die. Their response was "bill stinky" and "haha no boys allowed."

Poor Bill. They did grandpa wrong.

Come to think of it, I had a Hag match yesterday where I turned nonhostile towards the end (Steve was gesturing in chase so I started doing silly ######### back and it eventually turned to friendliness), and the first thing he and Claudette do once it's been established I'm not going to attack them is lead me to a locker with a Bill in it. I just let Bill step out of the locker since I don't like when survivors react to a friendly killer with sell-outs, but Bill was pissed in endgame chat over it.

Yeah, after a few bad experiences, I won't hook a survivor if others point at him: I only hook the survivor if he himself points at the hook. I can't save anyone off the hook myself, but if I only down him then I can get the survivor back on his feet if the others refuse to help.

Ugh, survivors selling out other survivors when they discover I'm friendly. I really dislike that, it makes it more difficult for me to earn points organically (chasing, hitting, hooking with no intention of killing but without the boredom of mutual farming) because if the one that got sold out doesn't realize I'm friendly, they could report it.

I'm on PS4 with messages turned off, so I don't get the fun chat at the end. Usually I'm happy not to have chat, but every once in a while I'd really like to ask "#########???" when matches go awry.

I will never teabag the random in situations like this. I also won't point out their location cuz it's up to them if they want to farm or not. I will however teabag my friends, often followed with farting noises.

Now see, this I get! If I played with friends we'd totally teabag each other and stuff. But some random? No!

I've come to recognize when a survivor wants to be left alone; I try to pay attention and respect their wishes. The random wasn't hiding when the one pointed her out, the two were just standing in front of me. That's why the 3-man's behavior surprised me, the random understood I wasn't a threat and was probably willing to screw around with them, but instead they turned on her.

I would love to see the devs doing those challenges on a dev-stream.

    Maybe we miss something.

    Yes, please. On console.

  • After playing the game for any amount of time I'd think moonwalking actually becomes muscle memory in certain situations. That's the opposite of tryharding: it's playing on autopilot.

This plus being able to unlock trophies/achievements in offline mode. The only thing that would change about them is being able to unlock them offline, so I would think Sony and Microsoft would be fine with it (unless they really are that stingy, if so then holy crap). Most people are not masochistic enough for trophies like Skilled Huntress, Adept Nurse, three blink gen grab, etc (and even fewer are crazy enough to do them twice).

Oh god, what I wouldn't give for a reasonable way to finish the Skilled Huntress achievement.
