And y’all complain about solo q.. THIS is one of your main issues.
Yeah. Over half the complaints about solo queue are about having "teammates" who AFK, suicide, and disconnect. You're proving our point. Solo queue sucks because of this kind of stuff.
-
@Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:
The fact that I still end up being well over half the collective brain of most of my solo queue teams has to tell you something.
It makes the matches where you get even one other teammate you can work with that much more memorable.
But in general, yeah, solo queue is a potato-fest. Or full of SWF trolls. Got teabagged on my first hook and left to die last night because I dared to cleanse totems, like I'm supposed to automatically know they had a dedicated booner. Four gens left when they did that, too. Crazy.
-
Just played a game as Wesker, finally, and got to experience this new visual effect.
I hate it. Absolutely hate it. It's awful and seriously, seriously unnecessary.
-
I think you go here and open up a request for "Information about my ban":
-
Windows is one of my favorite perks. I run it almost all the time.
-
Yeah, I've taken multiple videos of this happening in SWF, in solo queue, with Anonymous Mode on (which always breaks the bonus, every time), with Anonymous Mode off. I've just been too lazy to post them. But this is definitely an issue.
-
I hate that two of the three Crypt TV cosmetic sets are linked. They'd be totally fine unlinked, especially the weapons, but the whole sets really. Even though I don't play Huntress, I'd get the set if it were unlinked. I'll never buy it if I'm stuck using that weapon, though. Never.
Trickster's cupid set shouldn't be linked, either. The head can be replaced just fine.
I doubt BHVR would ever be allowed to unlink the RE or Silent Hill cosmetics that are on DbD's original characters, though. I wouldn't be surprised if BHVR could unlink Cheryl's cosmetics to be mix-and-matched so I could use some of her tops with anything other than that skirt—that combination of pieces makes no sense, tops like that go with jeans for god's sake, her skirt is freaking green—but for some reason they just don't do it.

At this point i'd gladly switch to PC if they had cross progression that allowed you to link all your accounts and have your stuff, but that is a pipe dream. I guess until then...
Ditto. I got the game on Switch because cross-progression had a set date. I would grind and level up on the go (I was traveling at the time I made the purchase), and then I'd be able to have good fun games when at home on my PC. Had I known it wasn't a guarantee, I would never have bought it. I feel absolutely cheated and deceived, and I've never trusted BHVR about anything they say they're working on since.
I will quit the game forever before I re-grind or re-purchase all the DLC for a third time. Just no. I only did it twice because it's for my friend and I to play together, otherwise I would've stopped at once.
Edit: I just want to say, I'm not claiming BHVR cheated or deceived on purpose. Things go wrong, things change. But I wish they had been more up front about things, because the sudden change to "date unknown" (which I consider to mean "yeah, this is probably never happening") took me completely by surprise.

Ps4 still plays like hot dog poo on a scorching summer's day. Things still being ignored that are now piling up. Frame rates dropping during animations still or even just mid chase, latency and connection issues, no PTB for console still, and every game I see red killer and survivor ping and I just know some whacky stuffs gonna happen already. @TragicSolitude had a detailed and informational perspective on issues affecting Switch yesterday that was taken down but would fit in here too.
Oh, is that thread gone? Dang.
Well, if I remember the post correctly, what I said was that I thought PS4 (Pro, I'm on PS4 Pro btw) was bad, but then I started playing on Switch and in comparison the PS4 is smooth as butter. The Switch needs a console-only cross-play option because it is so screwed over by performance issues. I'd turn cross-play off completely so I only go against Switch players, but if I do that I don't get a match at all.
The way BHVR has treated console issues is extremely inconsiderate. Fix the performance problems? The issues seem to get worse. Add the very needed controller options like dead zone and response curve so console players can have control more on par with PC players? No. Give us a console-only cross-play option so that we don't have to go against those PC players? No. And in fact, if you want those queue bonuses, you have to cross-play with PC users.
Yeah, if this is how it's going to be, the game never should have been ported to console.
-
I was wondering this as well, because I know my friend and I hear different Pinhead lines when we're in a match against the Cenobite together. It's really weird to hear him saying one thing through the TV speakers while I hear him say something else through my headphones.
-
The devs do ban cheaters. And they are always working on patching holes to stop cheat software. The problem is that cheaters find new ways around those fixes. It's a constant battle. The devs don't talk about what they do to stop cheaters, but I check some of the cheat subscription services occasionally and there have been times when they had to pause subscriptions while they found a way around BHVR's fix. Unfortunately for us, cheats are actually big business, so the people making the software that players use to ruin your matches are financially motivated to keep that stuff updated and working.
No one's happy about running into cheaters. It's a problem with all online games. I wish cheaters couldn't so easily get around being banned, but I don't blame BHVR for that.

thank you kindly @TragicSolitude I had not noticed there was a pop-up on highlighting
No problem :) Glad it's working for you.
In case you hadn't noticed, there's also a paragraph symbol that shows up to the left of the textbox. It's another piece of the WYSIWYG editor, and clicking on it allows you to do headings, blockquotes, lists, and spoilers. Maybe you'd already noticed that one since it doesn't require highlighting any text, but I'm mentioning it just in case because the paragraph symbol is damn near impossible to see (at least on my screen, as it's black on a dark grey background).

test
Their formatting just seems wonky. Or that post is very outdated. According to that post, all three of the links above should be formatted correctly, but only one is, and that one doesn't even use any markdown, it uses their WYSIWYG editor.
The one that is formatted correctly uses this forum's built-in auto formatting option. When I selected the text I wanted to use as the link, a small pop-up appeared with options for bold, italics, and at the end is an icon of a link. I selected the link icon and pasted the URL and the link is formatted correctly. I'm able to do this on PC and on a phone, though it's more difficult on a phone.

I agree so, so much. De-pipping is a relic of the old rank system. There is no reason that players should de-pip at all anymore. It made sense when it was used for matchmaking, but grades are not used for matchmaking. The devs say that grade is a signifier of how much time the person spent playing the game in the past month, so there's no reason de-pipping should exist.
I am tired of getting one pip away from the next grade, and then I get teammates who refuse to play the game by either stealthing around the edges of the map or DCing or suiciding on their first hook, and who gets punished? Me and my emblems. I have no control over my teammates, but their behavior screws me in every possible way. I can spend a week with my pips going up and down within the same grade level. I'm so freaking sick of it.
De-pipping makes bad matches feel so much worse. I don't just lose the match, I don't just end with very few Bloodpoints, but my progress towards the monthly reward goes backwards. There aren't enough swear words in the English language to express my frustration with this. And I play less because of it, not more. I don't spend more time working harder at getting a higher grade, I just feel annoyed and stay away from the game for longer and longer.
-
I'll watch YouTube videos, or I'll play Cookie Clicker or Quordle. Or I might get a snack.

Happened to me, too. I play on PS4.

Yes by closing the hatch it powers the exit gates and finishes all gens. It's basically a failsafe so survivors can't bypass Rancor by letting hatch close
No, this is a bug. Mandy specifies that the perk is not supposed to activate when the hatch is closed here:
@Mandy said:
That's not a bug, Rancor only activates when the generators have all been completed. The wording of the perk states " Once all Generators are completed, the Obsession has the Exposed Status Effect and the Killer can kill the Obsession"
It differs from Perks such as NOED for example which states "Once the exit gates are powered".
(Mandy was responding to someone who claimed that Rancor was bugged because it didn't activate when the hatch was closed.)
-
If a survivor gets off my shoulder, I usually slug them anytime they get downed after. I assume I'm giving them what they want: they don't want to be hooked, so I don't hook them. I'm a nice killer like that.
-
This has ticked me off from the moment Stranger Things was removed from the store. First, the problem was that I had avoided unlocking the teachables so they didn't clog up my Bloodwebs, but then they became general pool and I lost that. Now, it absolutely sucks to have bought the chapter and prestiged the characters and not get any benefit from it. That's 27 perk Bloodweb nodes between those three characters, 18 on every survivor and 9 on every killer. And each node pretty much corresponds to an entire Bloodweb level, because even when there are 3 perks on a Bloodweb the Entity usually steals 2.
-
I had this problem before the update. The more I lose as survivor, the more I lose. My teammates just get worse and worse. If I do start escaping and getting better teammates, it only takes one match where I die to return to the hell of awful teammates who stealth around the edges of the map from the moment they spawn in.
-
I actually think the Deliverance curse is worse, where you're the first one downed and hooked so you don't get to use it. If that happens, being able to use it on your second hook wouldn't be so terrible. However, Deliverance should tell others survivors you have it so they don't waste time going for the rescue. I hate going for someone and then they yeet themselves off with Deliverance. It negates a lot of the value if other survivors stop what they're doing to go for the save.
If you don't take aggro during the match and don't get hooked until everyone else is dead, then you don't get the reward of Deliverancing off the hook. It makes sense. It's a team game. It's not meant to be 1v1. In the case of it coming down to 1v1, the killer is meant to have the advantage. The hatch is there as a consolation prize, a reason for the final survivor not to just give up or hide for 50 minutes dragging out the match. If the killer finds you and hooks you before you find the hatch, the killer won. The survivor losing but still getting another chance so that the killer is forced to win multiple times in a 1v1 gets to be unreasonable. This sort of mechanic would also encourage the killer to slug the final survivor if they haven't been hooked before. You really want the killer standing over you for four minutes while you bleed out? Already, if I lose track of a downed survivor and find the hatch, I often stand on it instead of closing it and risking having to deal with Adrenaline, especially if that last survivor is a Meg.
-
Yup, this happens to me a lot. The incentives randomly don't apply after a match. And they never apply if I turn on Anonymous Mode, for some reason that completely breaks them.
-
I often use my knife to down the survivors and get hooks at the beginning of the match, and once I've hooked everyone once then I usually start goofing off using only Virulent Bound. It really depends on the map and whether the survivors stay in areas where there's no room to maneuver. I can do okay or I can do horribly. If the survivors are halfway decent at moving to the left or right when I bound, then even in the open I might get very few hits with it. I'm also on console, where making small adjustments and aiming in this game is hellish. Not to mention those frustrating moments when I seem to go through a survivor.
tldr: I use my knife when I play seriously. I use the Bound to have non-lethal fun. How well non-lethal fun goes can vary greatly due to maps and survivor skill.

i doubt that she will be fixed anytime soon... probably they'll fix her if they'll eventually rework something from her power/addons (like they did with plague)
Oh, I'm sure she won't be. I reported this bug right after she released.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/298122/the-artist-not-scoring-brutality-bloodpoints
No one seemed to care even then. It's both unfortunate and really frustrating that she's gone ignored from day one.
-
When going for an adept achievement, I just pretty much ignore Bloodpoints and never use a killer's power. Makes it so much easier to avoid screwing up the Chaser emblem. That's how I got Wesker's adept. There are many killers whose power hurt their emblems, that's not new. I don't know why emblems haven't been adjusted to take each killer's power into account and reward doing anything other than M1ing, but that's BHVR for you.
Yeah, Wesker and Artist both have bugged Brutality Bloodpoint gain, it sucks. I kinda like Artist, but I never use her. I won't bother until she gets fixed.
-
It is not considered cheating. There is an official Dead by Daylight Discord channel which includes voice comm sections for SWF players.
Edit: In case you're looking for a statement from someone official, here it is:
@Mandy said:
SWF is not cheating
SWF using Discord is not cheating
SWF was always intended to be added to the game, the delay in adding it was purely down to not having the time to make KYF and SWF, so KYF was prioritised.
Survivors communicating is not cheating...just because voice communication is not in the game does not make using discord cheating. We fully expect players to play together and be chatting on some form of voice communication at the same time.
The game rules are clear, please do not call something cheating when it clearly isn't. This is something that's decided by ourselves.

u sure? coz knowing bhvr it might not count toward the achievement
I mean, I can't test for sure because I got those achievements back when they were Demogorgon/Steve/Nancy's adept achievements. (I assume you're talking about the Tools of the Trade, Expert Generalist, and Skilled Generalist achievements.) The Stranger Things perks are supposed to count as universal/general-pool perks. I'd say that's why the new achievements call for universal perks, too, because that's what the Stranger Things perks are now considered.
But BHVR can screw things up all the time. Until you try it, you won't know if it works. It could have worked two weeks ago and not work today. Hell, I achieved Dredge's adept yesterday only to discover it's still broken on PS4. No adept Dredge for me.

Oh! I have that outfit on the Switch, that's right. I forgot about that. That outfit is actually my biggest regret.
I love Blight. On PS4. When I got the game on Switch, my friend got me the Greek Blight outfit thinking that I'd get tons of use out of it when cross-progression went live.
Cross-progression never came, Blight is unplayable on Switch, and my friend wishes he'd just gotten me the outfit on PS4 instead. Thinking about that one actually makes me sad. I know it's not my fault cross-progression never came, but I feel bad that I can't use the outfit all the same.

I bought school girl Spirit before Sadako existed. I have no idea what I was thinking. Years of blasting death metal has rendered me partially deaf and I can't even play her against survivors that are not equally as impaired. That was one of the only DBD cosmetics I ever purchased. Along with Bubba's swag drip (w/o the hammer), Piggy Wiggly's envy, and the Ghostface (just the cloak) that should have been default.
Yeah, I regret my Spirit cosmetic purchases, too. Once she lost her collision while phasing, I lost the only thing that made her playable for me. I can't track via sound in this game. So, those cosmetics are total wastes, now.
I really really really regret purchasing a cosmetic for Legion. I hate playing as them.

I saw a killer bonus today! It was at 100% for about an hour. Got like three or four matches in. Now it's back to survivor at 100% bonus, so I'm gonna watch a movie.
-
I would like this. I don't think BHVR would do it, though, out of fear that a lot of killers would choose to play against bots and survivors would be left with few real people queueing up as killer.
-
His charge feels super slow, it's a drag.

I don't really have sympathy for anyone trying to do the achievement cus from the survivor side it's vs a killer that can mori you out of the clear blue sky no matter how you played and that's... not fun to go against? What other counterplay do you suggest besides denying the cheevo?
What other counterplay do you suggest besides denying the cheevo?
That's not counterplay. If the killer is going for the achievement, and he gets close but the final survivor denies it, then all that survivor has done is made sure the killer will have to try again. That survivor is making sure to subject more future survivors to that unfun playstyle. That includes you, you'll be one of those future survivors being punished because some previous survivor was too salty get out of a locker.
Being the final survivor hiding in a locker for over fifteen minutes doing nothing or disconnecting to avoid the mori is a waste of everyone's time, it's not counterplay.
-
Also requires players to spend money to purchase the character with the perk. Meanwhile, killers recently got a perk to deal with boons and it's general pool, completely free.
I don't actually see that many players using the new survivors in my matches. It's not like when Mikaela or the previous RE chapter released and everyone was using the new survivor(s).
-
There are two perks I like to keep at tier 1: Distressing and Make Your Choice. The new prestige system means I can't prestige killers past a certain point. Good job, BHVR, I can't put Bloodpoints into any of my killers. Even Wesker already hit his ceiling.
The first Bloodweb after prestiging shouldn't be a level 1 Bloodweb, it should be large enough that the player is not required to accept the final node. Players should always be able to avoid at least one node of the Bloodweb if they choose.

Are you also telling me to not even bother using his power for Survivors hits and grabs; in order to maximize chance toward of your adept Achievement. Does that mean the Devious Emblem is bugging and doesn't count Wesker power?!
Deviousness is not an emblem, it's a Bloodpoint category. Bloodpoint categories mean literally nothing towards pipping. They are completely separate.
These are the emblems:
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Emblems#Killer_Emblems
Killer powers often hurt the Chaser emblem.
-
It's unlikely BHVR will rework existing achievements because they would not be able to change the achievements on PlayStation. I guess they have the option of changing the conditions of future adept achievements.
Adept killer achievements are pretty easy to get if you wait for grade reset. Double-pipping is easier at ash grade. Also, the best way to earn the adept killer achievement is usually to play them like an M1 killer. I didn't use Wesker's power at all when I got his adept. It's the best way to make sure you get all the required emblem points. The devs have never fixed the emblem system to play nice with killer powers.
-
Man, I loved that event. Me and my friend just jumped into snowmen suits and danced around and high-fived each other until the killer got tired of it and killed us. Sometimes all four survivors would dance in a circle or get in a conga line. It was fantastic.
-
It was the Tier 70 reward for the premium track in the game's third Rift.
-
The Survival category needs a good rework all around. I'm getting teammates who do nothing but locker hop all match. I die, see they've earned about 1k points, and then they get the hatch and their score jumps to over 10k. Giving them points for time alive wouldn't necessarily fix that. Escape is the win condition, it doesn't need a big BP reward. The game should reward more points for participating in the match. Repairing a gen solo rewards crap for points. Taking a protection hit doesn't reward that much. And actions performed after the gates are powered should earn major Bloodpoints.
-
Hiding in a locker is a terrible counter to Tombstone Myers. Lockers aren't hard to find, they're everywhere. Hopping into a locker requires no skill, and when the last remaining survivor does it they're doing it just to deny the killer the achievement. That's all. It's not an attempt to survive or escape, they know they're dead. And hell, when I had someone keep running back to a locker each time I carried them away, I tried to wait them out, and they stayed in the locker for 15 minutes and then disconnected instead of just stepping out.
Maybe if survivors couldn't stay in a locker indefinitely it wouldn't be so stupid. (Not only that, disconnects are still handled poorly with no husk left behind.) Lockers are an infinite resource with no restrictions. There's no perk that blocks lockers, nothing that forces the locker to spit a survivor out after a certain amount of time. Maybe at least let Myers Tombstone a survivor if the locker has birds on it.

For me, Skilled Huntress on PS5. I'm at 34% currently with little to no farming. I try to farm at the exit gates if it's possible at the end, but most survivors are dicks and will dodge the hatchets even though they're thrown from a mile away and they're in no danger of not escaping.
This new escape RPD 20 times while opening the gates seems even more daunting
Yup, Skilled Huntress and Outbreak Breakout are the two trophies I'll just never be able to earn. No idea where I am on the Huntress one, and for RPD despite going there an ungodly amount the past few days I've opened the exit gate and escaped 3 times. Freaking horrible achievement design, seriously.

@Oneblacktophat said:
Why so quick to dismiss it? Isn't odd that it only affects that survivor and not everyone? How would you play around that as a survivor if you're being chased?
Who's dismissing it? People are telling you it's not a bug. It's specified on the wiki:
Survivors recently hit with a Bound Attack are unable to leave through the Exit Gate for 5 seconds.
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Albert_Wesker
As was already pointed out, the powers of Twins and Cenobite also have this effect of blocking the exit gate for a short time.
Whether or not this interaction with the exit gate is good can be debated, but it's not a bug as you claim in the title of this thread.
-
We as a community need to come up with a signal that says: "I'm a Switch player, so YOU need to tap the gen and hit the skill check. K, thanks." Like a morse code crouching kind of thing. Maybe crouch crouch point-at-gen crouch point-at-gen crouch.
I feel kinda bad, I saw a bunch of difficult skill checks and Merciless Storms today, and I didn't hit a single one. (Plus the sudden random instances of "I hit the button and nothing happened" during normal skill checks caused a few of those to fail as well.) But at least those difficult skill checks are from the killer's side, I can accept those. It's the DS skill check I take exception to.
-
This bug causes major confusion during the match. It definitely needs quick fixing.
-
Yeah, it randomly sometimes doesn't reward the bonus BP when I play. And it never rewards the bonus if I have Anonymous Mode enabled.
-
Artist has had the same problem since her release. I still don't think they've fixed her, yet.
-
Nah, I need to open up the exit gate and escape 20 times so I can get that achievement done. 3 down, 17 to go. Woo woo.
Then BHVR can disable it completely and save us from ever playing on RPD again. I'd be cool with that.
