No, just run a red mori and tunnel the crap out of key holders. If all killers did this, they would get the message not to bring keys anymore.
I dunno, man. A lot of killers do that, and what it seems to lead to is players coming to the forums to say it's not fair they're being tunneled for bringing keys.

I see. I just started playing again this week after about a year break so things are still a surprise to me. Was only my second match as killer. I mean the last guy had ample time to escape. I would'nt have cared if he at least tried.
I've had that happen once, where I closed the hatch and then stayed far away from the doors so the last survivor could just leave, but they ended up dying to the entity, anyway. My only guess in that case was that they were waiting for me to check the gate before they started opening it, and since I never came by to check they never started opening it, or they hid in the hopes of denying me the hook. Some survivors would rather die to the EGC or bleed out for four minutes than let the killer hook them. Multiple survivors whom I was going to give the hatch to have bled out because they decided to crawl off and hide.
-
I've had numerous matches, both as survivor and killer, where three people DC'd. It happens.
Once one survivor disconnects, the likelihood of other survivors disconnecting increases. If some of them are SWF, they'll disconnect together. It's also not uncommon for the last survivor left (whether you killed everyone else or the others DC'd) to disconnect if you don't let them escape.
-
In some ways, I agree with this.
However, I doubt it'll ever happen. The characters are already very cheap in terms of how many shards they cost. After all, buying the character is cheaper than buying some of the character's outfits, making the character look like a real bargain in comparison. And while survivors are just glorified skins, killers come with special abilities, adding to their value.
The easiest response from the devs would be, "You're buying the character; the perks are bonuses thrown in for free."

Not fun. Not rewarding. Her add-ons needed changing, yes, but her basekit was fine. She already had multiple weaknesses.
She used to be a fun challenge to play as on console, but not anymore. I can't stand how clunky she is. She's not fun.

Git gud 😂😂😂🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Why would I bother when I obviously don't care? I'm lazy. I'm going to sit at rank 16 where I play against purple and red ranks anyway, and they can be bored [BAD WORD]less because it's not my problem.
I was just pointing out (in a sarcastic manner) that fast gen times hurt killers and survivors. I've seen a lot of survivors saying they're bored. If you're not bored when gens go fast, then hey, more power to you. I don't really care if gens go fast when I play killer, because... well... I don't care.
No, not true. When I'm on Haddonfield, I actually wish gens went faster. I wish survivors could teleport between gens and automatically hit every great skill check so I could get the hell off that map faster. I'm not gonna DC, but I'm not gonna play, either. Too much walking up and down stairs, [BAD WORD] that.
Edit: Anyway, this thread was started by a survivor, not a killer, saying they're not having fun with fast games. So your original comment was telling the OP that it's not their fault that gens are going so fast, which is obvious, because they have no control over what offerings/add-ons/perks a killer uses. Was your original comment meant to mean that survivors should be able to bring their own gen slowdown perks?

Hey, me too! I don't like using add-ons or offerings. (Or gen slowdown perks.) If I don't use add-ons or anything, then every single Bloodpoint I earn is profit.

Hey, it's not my fault the survivors can do gens so fast that we all end the match with nearly no points and they probably de-pip (I can't de-pip, I'm rank 16; they can de-pip because they're purple ranks). 🤷♀️🤷♀️

Back when Rancor came out, Decisive Strike performed differently: the obsession could use it the first time they were downed, period. There was no prerequisite. There were some ways to try to play around it, or you could just eat the DS, but none of these options were really good.
Rancor gave you the option of not worrying about the obsession. If you downed them but couldn't get them to a hook, no big deal: once the last gen was done, if you downed them, it was a guaranteed kill. No worrying about juggling or eating the DS or any other nonsense.
Now, with the change to DS, Rancor can be used to help with mori Daily Rituals, as an alternative to Bitter Murmur with a bonus mori option, or to get revenge on someone who blinded/stunned/DS'd you (when paired with Nemesis). And it can give the obsession some valuable info about the killer's whereabouts each time a gen is completed. That info being useful to the survivor as well as the obvious giveaway that the killer is running Rancor are the perk's weaknesses.
Also, Rancor doesn't show auras, it shows notifications. Notifications are much less exact, and they don't give the killer any indication of who's who.
I've only died to Rancor twice in all my time playing: once because someone in a chase led the killer right to my hiding spot (thanks, man), and once because of Blood Warden (I knew better than to stick around, that was my own fault).
-
I just camp the hook if someone tries this; it's two people off gens.
While playing survivor, I've seen other survivors try the hook tech and you know what happened? The person on the hook gave up and suicided. This hook tech is nothing but a way to screw over your team.
-
I tried playing Nurse again, today. First time since the day her updated mechanics went live.
After about fifteen seconds of attempting to chase someone, I started just Blinking around: I'd Blink to a gen, watch survivors scatter, and then Blink to the next gen. So, no one ran me around all match, and no one got camped in the end. Also, no one got hooked or even hit. I did that in all the following matches until I finally gave up, because even ignoring the survivors I couldn't keep track of the power bar; I constantly tried to Blink too early and lost out on the second Blink.
I've played against baby Nurses before and kept them busy all match by running in straight lines. It wasn't impressive at all, and I got nearly no points for it because they fell so far behind me the game didn't count it as being in a chase. Trying to learn Nurse is miserable and I'm amazed any new player bothers beyond one or two matches.
-
I just want them to return her basekit to what it used to be. The add-ons needed changing; the addition of a cool down is so frustrating and not fun at all. I have to take my eyes off the map to look down at the power bar otherwise I lose a Blink, but taking my eyes off the map means I lose sight of everything else (like survivors).
She already had weaknesses. Having fatigue. Being unable to cancel Blinks. Being limited on the number of Blinks. Being slow af. Being unable to open a locker directly after Blinking. The new cool down is overkill. It's frustrating. And playing as survivor, my normal counter to her now is running in a straight line. That's terrible.
She was difficult to play as but still a fun challenge on console, and now she's just difficult; there's nothing fun about it.

but I feel you. I have ~115 hrs just on nurse play and it’s ridiculous how inconsistent it is atm. I’ll have 2 games where everyone escapes followed by a 4K. I’ve compiled a list of options to make her better/easier to use. I hope they listen and implement any of them.
Sure thing. Yeah, I've commented in a lot of threads about undoing the damage they did to Nurse, constantly pointing out how she was difficult to play but still a fun challenge on console, and now she's just difficult; there's nothing fun about it.

I'm sitting here attempting to play Nurse on the PS4, and it's not fun. I have to take my eyes off the map to look down at the power bar otherwise I lose a Blink, but taking my eyes off the map means I lose sight of everything else (like survivors).
I don't even care about hitting survivors at this point. I just want to be able to Blink.
-
I love when a survivor decides to screw around or mess with the killer after the gates are open and then dies for it. I've seen a Shape proc Evil Within tier 3 on two cocky Claudettes. I've seen a Spirit Rancor an annoying Laurie. I saw a Nurse down a Claudette who stopped to heal inside the exit gate (why would you do that???).
It's hilarious to watch them get themselves killed when they had every opportunity to leave and chose not to.
I also enjoy seeing useless teammates and sandbaggers die, yes.
-
They do seem more likely to be annoying than other survivors, I'll give you that.
I had a Feng Min with a flashlight last night who kept clicking it at me and stuff... I normally don't kill, but since she wanted my attention to badly I went ahead and hooked her a third time. Turned out she wanted my attention because she had a chase daily to do lol. I felt a little bad 'cause she actually ended up being a few seconds short of completing it.

@Stitch7833 said:
Annoying af, getting into games takes long enough, then for a team to actually be doing something while im actually looping then they give up/ quit because gens get done is annoying, its more at fault to the ranking though so many people are use to survivors not actually doing anything and then when people go against those that know how to play they just give up. once again they need to fix the ranks and then seeing what needs to be balanced will be more clear
Yeah, matchmaking is seriously borked.
I'm not great at killer, so when I chase a survivor who's obviously out of my league (it's not like I can see ranks before a match), then I do one of two things: I ditch them and go back to patrolling gens, or I throw the match and continue the chase. Sometimes I do the second one just for the hell of it, but I do it knowing full well I'll be ending with nearly no points. Unfortunately, inexperienced killers may not realize that continuing the chase means they're throwing the match.
And sometimes I do get bored with all of it and just go wait for the match to end so I can move on to the next one. It's not like I'm sad or upset I'm losing--I usually play for BP and let everyone escape, anyway--but I just get bored with running in circles or the scratch marks being crap on whatever map I'm on or grabs failing for the millionth time or survivors running through Plague's vomit unaffected... -sigh- There are so many bugs in this game.
-
@Feyd said:
This has only happened to me once. And it was because I was doing the flashlight save challenge and I got someone off the trapper's shoulder. I hate using flashlights and when he went to camp the exit so he could open it the second the gens were done I felt horrible.
That being said, how many killers use cheap tactics and feel bad when they make a survivor DC or just give up and suicide on hook? I don't think I've ever met one that wasn't cackling like a hyena with glee at the notion that they just upset someone.
I usually don't use "cheap tactics" or anything, but when I see that a survivor who suicided on their first hook was a rank 20 or something I feel bad because it probably means they've been having a lot of crappy matches in a row, and I know how miserable that can be.
I've seen survivors just kind of give up mid-match, and if I'm playing aggressively I'll usually pull back and go easier on them for it because I know when I do that it means I've been having a bad night. I'm usually not playing to kill, anyway, so going easier on them doesn't change much except how much I pressure them to slow the game down.
Some survivors feel bad about causing a killer give up, some don't. Some killers feel bad about causing a survivor to give up, some don't. That's just people.

What do you mean you are afking in the basement, hows that help with progressing with the rift? Im curious lol
Rift Fragments are unlocked with XP. XP is earned via time spent in the match; how well you do is not taken into consideration. With instant killer queues, there's no down time between matches so AFK'ing is an easy way to grind.

Which is a fair point and typically works in the killer's favor. Since out of the four survivors, you only need one or two to be bad for the game to go to crap.
Yes, that is true, one or two bad survivors and the entire team falls. To those survivors, killers seem OP.
There are also a lot of inexperienced killers being put up against skilled survivors, leaving those killers feeling helpless. To those killers, survivors seem OP.
Trying to achieve balance under these conditions is impossible. Until matchmaking is fixed, both sides are getting screwed.
-
With matchmaking right now, the entire game is broken. Nothing can be balanced properly until matchmaking is fixed.
They even say here https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/status-update-matchmaking-changes what many players have been saying for a long time:
"we’ve concluded that rank does not directly correlate to skill"
So even when matchmaking was working better, ranking wasn't. That makes most of the stats meaningless, because a match will be unbalanced from the start if players of unequal skill are going up against one another.
-
I half-ass it a lot. I meme around. I'll start walking towards a gen and be like, "Man, it's all the way over there, I don't wanna walk that," and my friend is like, "You know you're not physically walking over there, right, you lazy ass?"
I mean, it doesn't really matter how the match goes, killer queue is instant, so I just play in a chill, relaxed manner. It helps to not care when you get Ormond three matches in a row, otherwise I'd be stressing over trying to follow those still-awful scratch marks. (Not like scratch marks on any map are good right now, what with how delayed they are, but Ormond has always been worse.)
Matchmaking is too awful, there's too much RNG, and the game is too buggy to take playing it seriously.

Be careful, trapping them in the corner all game is bannable. If you trap them after the EGC has started, then it's fine.

I do same but when I play clown and play pick a boo with Insidious afterwards.
Confuse survivors a lot with this hiding beginning tree peaking and hiding. It's weird but hey what else can you do with clown ?
Oh, with Clown sometimes I chase survivors around and do nothing but pelt them with bottles. It gets really ridiculous when it's the same survivor for the entire match.
Or I'll try to hit gens with bottles from as far away as possible.
-
A few days ago, I downed a survivor with a flashlight and he DC'd. I started playing "Stuck In The Middle With You" and danced around his corpse for the rest of the match. I'm sure the other survivors were confused, but I had fun.
Moments like that make me wish I could pipe music into the game.
-
I assume you mean a Wraith who starts off as AFK and never shows themselves, basically grinding XP/shards/fragments? It's boring. If I'm trying to do some stupid challenge or daily where I need to escape then I appreciate my luck, but it's still not fun. It's very rare that I run into AFK killers, though.
If you mean a killer giving up mid-match... feels bad, man. There's nothing fun about that. I had one give up today, and I felt bad for them, wasting add-ons and all that on a match against survivors they clearly weren't ready for. It's a game, everyone should be having at least some fun, and a killer giving up like that means they weren't having any fun at all. I don't blame myself, I blame matchmaking. I still feel bad for them, though.
-
I don't bother to play optimal. On my killers, I usually run a farming build.

I really don't get what this bug is. Flashlight timings are identical as survivor and I didn't notice any difference as killer.
It's been talked about on the forums before, so hopefully I'm not about to spur a bunch of people to go try this out... Killers can get blinded from the side by a survivor they can't even see; the survivor doesn't have to be in front of them. I watched a Laurie blind a killer from something like a 90 degree angle the other day.

I am a heavy Killer main, and I am against this idea.
Yeah, I play both sides about equally (or try to, killer queues are usually faster these days so I'm playing more killer than anything), and this idea just seems like it'll make the game less fun for everyone without actually helping combat toxicity in the least. You can rarely force empathy on toxic dicks.
@Mister_xD said:
you shouldnt force players to play something they might not enjoy.
the tomes already kida do this, by having challenges for both sides.
though a low rank killer match is not a good example of how killer actually plays, so many get the idea of "killers being OP", due to them dominating against low ranked survivors.
This is also very true. I've seen a lot of people come in here saying "I played one game of killer, killer is so easy and OP." Like playing one game at rank 20 makes them an expert.
-
Right now, flashlights are bugged. I have been seeing a lot more flashlights recently, so I have to assume it's because many survivors know they are bugged. This being the case, I go in with Doctor, I keep them in Madness tier 3 as much as possible, and I slug everyone until the flashlight holders are dead. If they ditch their flashlights mid-match, I return to my normal playstyle.
-
Uh-huh. Force someone to play killer when they don't want to, so they just go in as Wraith and afk or walk around the map half-assing chases. Or are we going to force them to get a 4k before they can return to playing survivor?

I personally hate party streamer games, most of the time party streamer games turn out to be the most frustrating and unfun games imaginable. I'll often get half amount of points I would get in a normal game.
I don't disconnect when I see party streamers, but I do close the application during the offering screen, so no one loses their offerings, and I don't lose my rank. Survivors do it for moris, so I can do it for party streamers and map offerings I don't like.
I have the same problem: whichever side I'm playing as, BPS pretty much guarantee it's going to be a miserable game for me. I don't disconnect, but my reaction to BPS on the offering screen isn't one of elation. As survivor, I'll often get tunneled out first thing. As killer, there are many times I've ended with half as much as I would've made without BPS.
I used to try to be friendly and farm with survivors, but after getting screwed a few times trying to do that, I gave up. Now, I immediately go for the BBQ stacks and I'll try to slow the game down as much as possible to earn as many Brutality, Deviousness, and Hunter points as I can. Unless something goes wrong, I let all four survivors escape. But all that's dependent on them not gen rushing me to hell, and trying to slow them down without killing them can be more stress than it's worth, in which case I'll just afk.
-
Meh, if they wanna bring in toolboxes and rush through gens, I let them. They'll be really bored; I have no gen slowdown perks so the game will be over before the second chase is done. Wow, all four escape with only two survivors even knowing who the killer is, what an exciting challenge for them. -shrugs-
I don't really care what people bring in usually, but I'll dodge the lobby if someone tries to switch to an item at the last second. The funny thing is I would've been fine with the item if they hadn't done that.
-
I love the extra BP, so I use it 99% of the time. I have to be doing a special build to not use BBQ.
-
I have been having awful frame drops while playing as The Doctor on PS4 Pro. I use the Hallowed Blight head and body and his walking stick weapon.
-
Well, all the survivors are only skins, unlike killers. With killers, it makes sense to put a lot of Bloodpoints into all of them since they each play differently. However, because each survivor is the same other than their appearance, it makes sense to pick just one or two to focus Bloodpoints into.
I chose the survivors I main based on their appearances (Kate, Yui) and who they are (Ash).
-
I play Doctor, it keeps giving me huge maps. I switch over and play Clown, then I get The Game map numerous times. -_-

I think the original idea that devs had REALLY was Animation Enhancement. I dont think they planned for it to turn into an abdomination called "Anti Aim Assist".
I mean, people complain about Hook Tech and 360s enough, even without knowing what causes them. They think its Dedicated Servers, but it doesnt really matter.
I'm going to start off this reply by saying I'm not arguing or disagreeing with you. We are both talking about different things, but those things are not in opposition to each other. You are saying that, because the devs refer to it as "Animation Enhancement," we should refer to it as "Animation Enhancement" as well or we risk them deflecting the argument by focusing on the trivial aspect of what it's called. That makes sense.
I am just commenting that the devs' insistence on correcting people that it's "Animation Enhancement" is ridiculous. The original intent may have been to enhance the animation, but it affects aim, they know it affects aim, and yet they insist that calling it "Auto Aim" or "Aim Assist" is incorrect even though it does "assist aim" in that it helps the killer's aim miss its mark. That it enhances the animation isn't the important part, the important part is how it affects gameplay, so the devs' focus on "Animation Enhancement" comes off as disingenuous; the original intent doesn't really matter when what people care about are how its negatively affecting their gaming experience.
Again, I'm not saying we shouldn't call it "Animation Enhancement." I'm just saying it's ridiculous the devs require us to call it that. And I think that's what a lot of other people in this thread are saying, too.

Animation Enhancement does sound positive, but if you start saying: "AE makes you miss hits", "AE is what makes 360s so bad" or "AE causes the damned Hook Tech", then it sounds like just some wierd ######### that does bad things. And thats what it is. Someting that enhances visuals at the cost of the gameplay.
People start calling it "Aim Enhancement" or just "whatever Adhskdkjdjs Enhjajdjjssk that makes me miss" and it already happened, just look at the Q&A thread.
Calling it "autoaim" may make it sound more negative, 1- but there people who dont believe in it, 2- it gives the Devs argument that its NOT AUTOAIM".
Just look at the linked thread.
I used word "AutoAim" in a clickbait way to gain views, Devs saw it, but all they did and say was an explanation that ITS NOT AUTOAIM. And they can do it again. Just because you are using a wrong term.
That was less a comment about what we should call it and more of a dig at what the devs insist on calling it. It's like labeling a bottle of Foxglove extract "100% Organic Berry Juice." Yeah, that's what it is, but it's skipping over the important part. (No one give me crap about this comparison; I enjoy my hyperboles.)

WOW FINALLY SOMEONE FIGURED OUT HOW IT WORKS.
I have no problem with calling it Autoaim for short, but devs seem sensitive about it.
So instead of giving them the argument: "BuT tHiS iS nOt AuToAiM" just call it Animation Enhancement as they want you to.
And yes, this term sounds confusing to new players, but at the same time it sounds so mysterious and ominous that those people repeat this yerm without lnowing what it means.
And ot works.
Yeah, reading comprehension. It surprises everyone. lol
"Animation Enhancement" doesn't sound ominous: it sounds like something helpful because of the word "enhancement." And it is helpful for the visuals, but it's detrimental to gameplay, the thing that really matters in a game. Because it has an effect on gameplay, and because that effect is negative, the name should indicate such.

Animation Enhancement never causes missed hits to succeed
-sigh- How about "Anti-Aim-Assist" then?
-
@Archimedes5000 said:
I have seen may people asking about autoaim/aim assist in the Q&A thread, even thought Devs already explained that there is no auto aim/aim assist in this game.
Q: So why does my camera move when hitting a survivior?
A: The thing that does that is called ANIMATION ENHANCEMENT
So whats the difference?
According to Peanits, Autoaim can help you hit a target, this means that it can make you hit a target you shouldnt have hit, because you werent aiming for it.
Animation Enchancement does not do that. It activates AFTER you press the attack button, and AFTER survivior is detected in the "attack zone" then it adjusts the attack animation to be aimed at the target, making it look smoother.
Then why am I missing hits?
Again, according to Peanits, unfortunately, Animation Enhancement, just like Autoaim can make mistakes when judging surviviors position, especially if the survivior is moving very fast (360s, DH, SB, etc) and it results in your character missing an attack that should have hit. It happens more often if you or the survivior has a bad internet connection.
So, what can I do to stop missing hits that should have hit?
GIT GUD
Thank you for reading, and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP CALLING IT AUTOAIM. Go to the Q&A thread NOW and change all that "autoaims" immediately.
@Peanits please correct me if I understood something wrong or explained it poorly.
The original explanation is in this thread (Peanits' comment):
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/123368/an-option-to-disable-autoaim-not-clickbait
Autoaim can help you hit a target, this means that it can make you hit a target you shouldnt have hit, because you werent aiming for it
So, Autoaim = helps you hit your target
Animation Enhancement, just like Autoaim can make mistakes when judging surviviors position, especially if the survivior is moving very fast (360s, DH, SB, etc) and it results in your character missing an attack that should have hit.
Animation Enhancement = helps you miss your target = the opposite of Autoaim
So, what Dead by Daylight has isn't Autoaim, it's Anti-Autoaim. It's actually worse than Autoaim, because rather than helping killers hit targets, it causes them to miss targets they should have hit.
However, Autoaim in many games also helps you miss targets you should have hit, because if you try to track targets and aim for where they will be, Autoaim shoots at where they are instead, which causes the shot to miss.
So, since Autoaim can also cause hits to miss by making bad judgement calls, and since it's a lot shorter than "Animation Enhancement," isn't it easier to just call it Autoaim? (I'd also accept "Aim Assist." Because in general, if someone comes in reading about how "Animation Enhancement" causes killers to miss hits, they're not going to know what that means unless they're a forum regular. Meanwhile, "Autoaim" and "Aim Assist" are well known terms that mean nearly the same thing.)
-
Yeah, unfortunately they are back, I've played on them a lot since they've been reactivated.
-
I have every character except for the ones that come with the Stranger Things chapter.
-
I always consider teabagging (and flashlight clicking) to mean "I'm the designated distraction," so I ignore them and patrol gens. Either I'll get them later when they're out of position, or they'll be bored [BAD WORD]less because I never interact with them. I'm good either way.
-
It's in part so that the last survivor has some bit of hope of escaping, and it's also so the last survivor can't go immersed and hold the killer hostage forever. The hatch isn't my favorite thing, but I like it way more than being held hostage on the map.
-
I like being mori'd, too. The animations are so much better than just dying on a hook.
It'd be nice to have interactive areas on the map, so it's not just a regular mori, it's a special mori that can only be done in that location.

Unfortunately not. I'm not sure exactly where Bill was hiding, but it was somewhere nearby. I remember him creeping over to me when I opened the door with birds over his head. -_-

If I see the killer is really struggling and they didn't camp or tunnel, then I may let them hook or even kill me at the end of the match.
As killer, if I see keep running into one survivor, I'll often give them a lot of second chances in case they're low rank or just having an unlucky match.

You'll find that a lot of the time a killer will camp because they know people are nearby waiting for the save.
Actually...in the games I play, that's 9/10 times when camping happens.
So, basically, when someone goes down, survivors shouldn't feel the need to ditch the gen you have at 80% progress just to go for the save, lol
I'm not talking about when they make the smart play... I mean they come crowd the hook after the killer has started camping, or they're across the map crouching around not doing gens.
