  • I'd never get to hear the music; she's always too far behind to be counted as in a chase with.

  • Right now I have UTZ Crab Chips, though those are a delicacy I brought back from visiting my family.

    Usually, Flamin' Hot Cheetos.

  • If new killers stick with this game right now, I'm gonna be shocked. There's no way these guys are having fun.

  • I've been saying this was a horrible mechanic since I started playing over a year ago, and other players were complaining about it before then. Everyone playing survivor should just refuse to struggle on the hook; maybe then something might change. Until then, it's probably gonna stay in the game.

  • Man, it feel good not to play DbD for a few weeks. Returning to it felt like a chore. Still feels more like a chore than entertainment, really.

After dedicated servers screw them multiple times?... Survivors gets screwed by dedicated servers literally every match.. Being hit after pallet stunning a killer? Being hit after vaulting a window? Being hit through walls by a chainsaw? Huntress Hatchets going through walls?

Love how killers complain about Survivors being OP when they're the ones that are ridiculously OP and can control every part of the game.

I dunno, dedicated servers don't affect me that negatively when I play survivor. My biggest problem is the poor fps of skill checks. Getting hit through pallets and all happened before dedicated servers. But I've seen lots of killers get screwed out of grabs, and that was a rarity before dedicated servers went live.

Anyway, I also see survivors disconnect all the time. They get downed, they disconnect. Maybe they're also disconnecting because dedicated servers screwed them? If that's the case, I don't blame them, either.

Yeah that’s not how I’m seeing it used in game and on this forum. They say gen rushing and refer to it as toxic....when survivors do gens too fast. I know it’s a mechanics thing also but that is not usually how the term gen rush is used.

Gen speed is a sore spot right now, because Ruin just got nerfed and killers are seeing a crapton of toolboxes in their lobbies, leading them to complain about gen rushing. They're angry at survivors, but the anger is mostly misdirected; their problem is with the game mechanics. But not everyone knows where to correctly direct their unhappiness with the game. The survivors are the ones they're playing against, so they're the obvious target.

  • "Gen rushing" is usually used to mean one of two things.

One, it refers to gens being too fast in general. It's a complaint about the game mechanics, not the players.

Two, it can be used to mean a group of survivors who don't heal, leave teammates on the hook, and only do gens.

I also hate seeing a squadette SWF team. I understand what you’re saying for sure. If they all ran that character, most would be using self care with my idea of perks, i would imagine anyways, and as a killer i would feel like nurses calling would be a perk I’d want to bring to counter that, and team it with sloppy butcher also. So maybe it force ppl not to group same characters and be more diverse.

Not to be argumentative, but that's unlikely. Already, when I see someone playing a certain character, I can be pretty sure what perks they're bringing. I see few Megs without Sprint Burst. If I'm ever chasing a Meg and they disappear, I just open the nearest locker. You can judge what path a Feng Min will take because they often have Lithe. Very few Davids play without Dead Hard. And you expect most Laurie players to bring DS.

I already get lobbies with three Megs, three Davids, four Claudettes... I doubt that making them more attached to their perks would result in fewer players choosing them. And it would only make uncommon characters less common; I usually don't see Quentin players using any of his perks.

  • Nurse, Hex: Ruin, the horribly broken sounds that happened at the same time Spirit lost collision, horrible matchmaking...

    it's not just Ruin.

  • As killer, I leave lobbies when multiple people use the same character because it becomes too difficult to keep track of who's who. Any change that has players choosing specific survivors for gameplay reasons would make that problem worse. I already see multiple Claudettes in my lobbies because of her camouflage advantage.

The point I've made several times, that nobody has been able to give me an answer to is: how does adding this effect your experience of the game?

The only point I've seen made is that it could take away development time from changes that they want to have made, which is selfish.

I've sarcastically asked the question if I should shoot down other posts in an attempt to shift development time to what I think is important, as it's not something I would actually do, even though that is what some people here are doing.

If someone has an objection that doesn't relate to development time, I'm still waiting to hear it.

My point was that it wouldn't solve the real issue, which is not having a reliable way to judge distance within the game despite so many things being based on distance. If perks like Devour Hope and MYC didn't give visual indicators when you were far enough away from the hook, they'd be hell to use. I love Whispers, but it's still a big problem that I don't know how large the radius is.

No, I don't have a suggestion for a way to fix it. I just know it's a problem I struggle with.

  • It depends on what you mean by "expert."

I'm devotion 8 in the game. My friend thinks I'm an expert because I know the game mechanics and perks and all that. However, I don't consider myself an expert because I'm not a great player.

  • Within the past few days, I think.

I saw someone else wiggle out of the killer's grasp, yesterday.

  • I try not to bully killers. Sometimes I get to the end screen and find out the killer was a rank 20, and then I feel really bad for the amount of their time I wasted in a chase or something. I know it sucks for them to get screwed so hard by matchmaking.

  • I mean, I'm not used to the metric system, either, but having it say "feet" wouldn't actually help me, because it's not real life or even VR; no matter what measurement system they use, there's no good way to judge distance. You have to try to eyeball it and get used to distance by testing out aura perks, or so I've heard from other people. I cannot for the life of me judge distance in this game, even after over a year of playing. It has nothing to do with the units of measurement.

  • NOED and Adrenaline. They're a pair, and they're both annoying.

  • I know some killers disconnect after the dedicated servers screw them multiple times in one match. I can't blame them for that; there's no point in continuing if the game won't let you really play.

  • Yeah, my teammates have blinded me with them.

  • Sometimes I play matches where all I do is zap. Well, okay, I often get bored after a bit and start hitting, but at least at the beginning all I do is zap.

  • I bought the top with Shards.

I don't like the silver dangly bits on the shorts.

I hate the face. She looks like a blow-up doll.

I don't hate playing Legion but the Susie outfits definitely make me play them more then I would.

Getting stunned out of Feral Frenzy for missing a hit is too punishing, especially on console where whiffing is unavoidable. The power isn't strong enough to justify such a huge downside; having a normal cooldown on the missed attack would be more than enough.

  • Feng Min - Spring Festival Moonrise Event outfit (Lunar New Year dress)

The Blight head on Clown makes me want to play him, but I hate playing as him. Same with the Susie outfits on Legion.

I believe so, the patch notes are from her release. While I believe your post is at the end pf the PTB. But this is interesting. I'd love to get some clarification from the developers.

Well, I also found these patch notes from the mid-chapter update after her release https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/25535/patch-notes-2-3-0-mid-chapter where again it mentions her Terror Radius:

"The Spirit's phasing audio has been adjusted: Survivors within the Spirit Husk's terror radius will not hear the phasing sound. Survivors outside the Spirit Husk's terror radius can hear the Spirit's phasing sound, but will not be able to determine its direction. Survivors will no longer be able to hear the Spirit's breathing while she is phasing."

That's from October 2018 vs the PTB's "changes to the Spirit" post from August 2018 that I linked to previously.

Yes, I would really like a clarification from the developers.

  • She's not fun to play as. She used to be a challenge on console; now she just feels like a chore.

Yo chill just being cheeky mate. I understand why someone wouldn't be able to constantly be at red ranks.

I apologize, the tone didn't come through in the text. I'm used to so many people judging each other harshly in this game.

I can't even always tell which of the complaint posts in this forum are serious and which posts are ironic, anymore.

Yeah, being in high ranks is no fun. After a certain point, the higher up I go, the less I enjoy the game. It kinda sucks how easy it is to pip in the low ranks, though. At rank 18, you don't have to kill anyone to pip. You don't even have to hook survivors to pip. o_0 This game's expectations are weird.

  • Wow, rude.

I have a stupid number of hours in the game, but my friend plays on my account and he likes to have chill matches, so I can't rank up or he can't play. Sucks for me, even when I try to hold back I'm too aggressive and I have to go afk halfway through the match and possibly still pip, but he lightens the load of the grind so it's worth it.

  • Are you only getting green ranked survivors now that you reached green ranks? I get green ranks at rank 18. Purple ranks if I reach rank 17.

  • Did they fix Oni's inverted controls reverting in Blood Fury? (playing with a controller on PS4) Anyone know? I've never seen it mentioned in any of the patch notes, but I also haven't played Oni recently.

  • Yeah, I don't get it. At the beginning of the game I'll work on a dull totem or something instead of going straight to a gen to try to avoid being the first one found, and for some reason they'll still come right to me. Like, why the [BAD WORD] aren't you patrolling gens??

  • I usually accept them. It depends on how the match has gone.

One time I relentlessly went after someone I caught sabo'ing my hooks... I think he saw me look at the other survivors and pass them by, and so he realized I was specifically after him; when I found him he crouched and put his toolbox on the ground. I accepted his offering and didn't slug the crap out of him.

If the last survivor accepts defeat at the end of a match, I almost always let them go. If I'm farming the survivors for points and not killing them, and they make an offering, I accept that they'd like to leave and I'll let them do gens in peace.

As survivor, I pretty much expect to die, so I'll often give myself up to the killer. I rarely have an item to offer them, though.

Oh, I'm very sorry, didn't know about the screenshot and I'm not very active on Discord in general so I couldn't know about said original source.

    Again, sorry for assuming.

No, no, don't apologize. Like I said, hearsay. I've only been able to find one screenshot of a reply on Discord:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/989375/#Comment_989375

but it's the same basic stuff Peanits said, that ranks will still be on the tally screen in the next update.

It was the only Discord screencap I could find. Many threads about the leak were deleted when it first came out, and because of that there ended up being so many conflicting stories flying around that everyone has different memories of what they read and saw. That may be the screencap I saw and I'm misremembering (like everyone else), or maybe there's some other screencap out there somewhere.

Even if there is a screenshot somewhere of one of the mods/devs saying "We decided not to do it," it probably goes on to say "in this update."

Someone right after asked the direct question but looks like there was no answer. Most people assume the worst when left without answers and I can't blame them, honestly.

Actually, if I remember correctly, someone posted a screenshot of a mod on Discord or something answering a question saying they decided not to remove ranks. However, I do not have the screenshot, and I'm recounting this from memory, so it's just hearsay. But I'm pretty sure that someone official actually did respond somewhere other than the forums saying they changed their minds about doing it. Of course, they could've just meant they decided not to do it during the newest patch.

  • @terumisan said:

Add-ons get used up every match for killer survivors keep their items if they aren't used up you use more add-ons than items

And they can get new free items by searching chests.

Also, every killer is unique and BP has to be put into leveling all of them and unlocking perks on each. Survivors are just skins; you could level up just one and unlock all the perks from the shrine and it wouldn't affect gameplay.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

The devs want to balance around 2 kills. But they probably also don't want the killer to tunnel, so let's say, the killer should win 9-10 chases on average.

Nah, balance it around the killer focusing hard on two survivors while the other two are ignored and left to do gens. I'm sure that'll be fun for all four. /s

If each match is supposed to be two kills and two escapes and we're not just talking averages here, then the devs are actually balancing around all five gens being completed every match. For anyone to then make it out those exit gates, you really need at least three survivors to make it that far. So, that means the killer gets one kill at most while the gens are up, and then the killer gets their second kill while the other two escape. That's how the matches should go if we take the devs literally at 2k2e per match.

  • What? Nah, I'm like 99.9% sure it's not the case that his shocks work on survivors in the dying state.

I was messing around yesterday, just trying to have fun, and one survivor suicided while another was slugged. Well, the two survivors still on their feet acted really weird; they didn't pick the slug up. So I had to find the poor guy myself, and the game's totally broken audio was no help. He wasn't in madness 3, so he wasn't screaming. And when I used Static Blast he didn't scream, either.

I've also done a lot of slugging outside of that match as Doc, and survivors in the dying state don't seem to react to his Static Blast. They will continue to scream if they're in madness 3, but if they're not in madness 3, they never scream.

I actually wish Static Blast did work on dying survivors, because the broken sounds made it really difficult to find that poor survivor the others refused to pick up. He was on the ground for over two minutes for no good reason.

I couldn't find any patch notes stating that they changed it from 8 meters. The testing that I did with a friend makes it seem like it is 8 meters as of right now. It might be a bit more than 8 meters but it's definitely not the full terror radius.

Here https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/16750/changes-to-the-spirit/p1 it says that the survivor will not hear her Spirit Sound while in her Terror Radius. It's the last point in the list.

That's what I found. Are the patch notes about the 8 meters thing more recent?

  • @konchok said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1040189#Comment_1040189

You're 100 percent right. I went through the patch notes for spirit. The whoosing noise is not based off of the terror radius. It's 8 meters from her husk. I had no idea, but it makes so much sense.

Then someone needs to update the wiki:

    https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Rin_Yamaoka

"Survivors within the Terror Radius of the Husk will not hear the phasing sound. Survivors outside of that range will hear the sound, but will be unable to determine its direction."

Edit: And it did previously say the 8 meters thing. https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Rin_Yamaoka&diff=61135&oldid=61134 It may have changed, they may have gotten updated info, I dunno, I don't see a source for it.

  • Kate would be easy, especially if I can go with her brunette hair look. Spirit... well, I'm not blue or Asian, so it'd be more difficult to pull off.

  • @Smeagol said:

what about no to all the suggestions above.

the name of this perk is not "anti-tunneling perk" , it's just one of the reasons people use it. that doesnt make it the main reason why the devs made this perk.

It's a mean for survivor to escape the killer after they get downed again after unhooking. it gives you the right to stab a killer in his back to escape for 1 minute. Yet some want to just obliterate this perk to nothingness. lol these killer mains are so unreasonable. you already got the perk nerfed once, u want to murder it completey? just like MoM?

"it gives you the right to stab a killer in his back to escape for 1 minute."

    Uh... wow.

Can you imagine if the killer could block off a survivor from working on their objective for 60 seconds by failing at something? 'Cause that's what happens here, the survivor gets hooked and then gets rewarded with 60 seconds of immunity. The thing that maybe comes closest is Blood Warden, but it requires the killer to succeed at hooking someone for it to even activate.

Tunneling sucks and survivors should have something to help them out, but 60 seconds of immunity against a killer who's not tunneling is a lot of power, and when all 4 survivors can equip the perk, it becomes ridiculous.

Also, the devs seem to think that maybe altering DS a bit isn't a terrible idea, because in their recent Q&A https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/123658/live-q-a-recap-january-23rd-2020 they say as much:

"Decisive Strike has already received a substantial cutback, but we have read your concern over the more abusive uses for it and we are considering what can be done to combat that."

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1041041#Comment_1041041

That’s true. I feel slow as killer too. As survivor they feel so fast it’s brutal.

I think part of my problem is that when I play survivor, I don't have any exhaustion perks. Having something like Sprint Burst or Lithe or BL really helps to put some distance between you and the killer, but since I don't use those the killer is basically immediately on my ass. As killer, almost every survivor I face runs an exhaustion perk, and with how crunched for time I am as killer it feels like it takes forever to make up that distance, if I even bother.

  • BT is mostly fine, but it is annoying (as killer) during the EGC. As survivor I love it; as long the person being unhooked is able to take the hit, BT is basically a guaranteed escape during the EGC.

DS as an anti-tunneling perk would be fine, but it's used for 60 seconds of immunity and that's not fine. If the survivor isn't being tunneled, the killer shouldn't get DS'd. There are certain situations in which DS should deactivate. And it really, really sucks to not tunnel survivors all match and then get punished for it end game by getting DS'd.

  • Whenever I play survivor killers feel too fast and whenever I play killer I feel too slow. So, if I'm unhappy both ways, I guess that means it's balanced.

  • I think they need to take another look at some of the challenges and readjust the amount of points rewarded. Each killer has a similar "use your power" challenge, but the reward for older killers is smaller than the reward for newer killers despite what the difficulty may be. I trash a lot of challenges for that reason.

"Open the exit gate as ____" challenges are also awful, I stopped trying to do those ages ago because they pit you not only against the killer but against your teammates; I don't think there's any reasonable amount they could pay that would be worth it.

  • I've had teammates get mad at me for not saving them. Once, when I was working on a gen injured and the other survivor was healthy, I got a message after the match giving me crap about it, and I was like, "But... I was injured. I thought the other survivor would do it." "He said he needed to do a gen so we told him to finish the gen and then come get us." Ummm... then why didn't they message me about it before the match ended? Why did the other guy get a message but I didn't? And why is him finishing a gen different when I was working on a gen, too? -sigh-

It's not the only time I've been given crap for not suiciding trying to save another survivor, just the one that stands out most for its ridiculousness. I never get messages when I die in an attempt to save someone, though.

I was accused of tunneling by someone when I was juggling all four survivors, hooking each one in turn, and no one died until all four survivors were on death hook. That one had me super confused.

I was also given crap for "body blocking" when the survivor hid in the little corner next to the exit gate and I, as Bubba, stood in front of them, not letting them pass, and chainsawed them. Like, why would I step aside just because my chainsaw takes a second to activate?

Back before the EGC, I was accused of "holding the game hostage" and told I'd get banned because the hatch spawned a few feet away from the exit gate (which was open) and I stood on it rather than let the survivor have it. (I had been screwing around all match, I was letting them all leave, and rather than just leave they hung out at the exit gate for like 5+ minutes until I came over there; the one would've had the hatch if they hadn't done that and had all just left.)

Oh, my friend was recently accused of camping someone "to death" when he only hung around the hook until they reached second state because another survivor was also around the hook. He did let them get saved; they got hooked again and died later in the match.

Sorry, I can't decide which one is dumbest of those.

  • Personally, unless I'm doing a challenge or something that requires it, I usually don't care if I escape. If the killer is obviously struggling, I may give them a free hook or even a free sacrifice.

Or maybe the survivors got their Objective points and then they wanted to actually do something by interacting with the killer. In higher ranks, gen rushing often ends with few Bloodpoints and a de-pip. If you're really worried about it, you could refuse to kill them.

Huh, never knew Iron Will did that. More reason for me to finally start leveling Jake!

Well, Iron Will keeps you silent when you're injured, so you can hide from the killer. That's all. It means being injured isn't as much of a death sentence, so I don't feel like I need to heal myself right away and end up getting downed again because the killer saw me with Nurse's Calling (or just heard me healing).

Man, there have been some times when the killer is right on the other side of a hay bale or around a corner, and I am sooo happy to have Iron Will.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1039860#Comment_1039860

That’s not necessarily true. Against healthy survivors it’s possible to time a first hit to injure them so that by the time the attack cooldown finishes (and the think they’re being clever by unhooking while that’s happening) a second hit can be followed up EXACTLY as the unhook ends before the unhooker has a chance to run anywhere.

If I remember correctly, the person went for the unhook immediately as I finished hooking the survivor. (Usually, when survivors rescue in the killer's face like that, they have BT, so by the time my attack cooldown finished, the unhooked would be able to body block. That's always the case when I make a hook save against a camping killer, anyway.) Hitting the attack button was basically a knee-jerk reaction. I chased that survivor down pretty quickly, and they were on death hook, so pissing me off and using their DS like that was a stupid move.

Also, the person they unhooked had Breakdown (which I knew), so basically, if the one got unhooked and the unhooker immediately got downed, the sequence of events probably would've ended with slugs getting picked up and everyone escaping or me getting body blocked to the probably-far-away hook and everyone escaping.

Sixty seconds of unchecked immunity is a lot, and it really allows survivors to be dicks against killers who don't tunnel. Which, you'd think they'd be happy the killer's not tunneling; by doing that stuff, they're just telling killers they should tunnel to make sure they eat the DS early.

This is my pet peeve when hooked, and I see the yellow auras of Self-Caring Claudettes at oppisite ends of the map in corners. I personally use Self-Care alongside Botany Knowledge, and only when I really NEED to heal. Usually this is when I can't find another teammate in time, or I attempt to, only to begin a race across the map to attempt to get them to realise 'I need you to touch me!'.

In the matches where no one will heal me, I probably wouldn't have had time to Self Care, anyway. Usually, either the killer is constantly on my ass and I'm screwed, or a teammate heals me. Not always: sometimes I'm going around searching chests desperately for a med kit, but I'd rather not encourage myself to get dependent on Self Care. I prefer Iron Will, which is handy in a pinch and doesn't proc Nurse's Calling.
