Personally even high yellows/low greens I notice a dramatic speed increase in ques when I was ranking up my killer.

On PS4 in the evenings, I have instant queues as a Rank 18 killer.

It seems to be different depending on region and platform, but I see a lot more complaints about survivor queue times than killer queue times these days.

  • @ynos556 said:

im looking at all considers why doesn't the developer consider making a perk(other than spaying on other people) a different perk for bp. hell the perk where u miss an attack so you can attack 30% faster why not add bp to that instead of chili. i agree with making bbq and chili with bp should be a stand alone thing in terms being on another perk OR removing it in gerneral. If bbq is only being used for BP then it needs to be removed. If ppl really want blood point why do events for them. We got rifts going on why not remove the BP on BBQ now since we get bonus BP for doing rift achievements.

They put the BP bonus on BBQ because 1. they want players to buy Leatherface, and he's not a strong killer; many new players buy him for that perk alone, and 2. they want to encourage killers to use BBQ. They want to get killers away from the hook so that other survivors can go in and make the save. It's to incentivize killers to not camp. It's an anti-camping/anti-tunneling perk, but instead of survivors needing to equip it, the killer equips it. Shouldn't survivors be happy a perk like that exists? However, because so many survivors complained, there are also now like 7 easy counters to it, which means it's no longer as anti-camping as it used to be.

Didnt they try doing that on pc before? Earlier 2019? Or am I imagining things? I could almost swear I remember queing up and seeing something like "Estimated Wait Time *less than sign* 7minutes"

Yeah, that was around for a short time on PS4, too. Didn't last long.

  • @Kurisataru said:

queue times have always been a dbd issue, unfortunately. I never know when I'm gonna wait 4 seconds or 40 minutes. PC/PS4

It'd be nice if they gave estimated wait times so players didn't have to just wait with no clue how long it'll be.

  • That's why, when I see multiple toolboxes, I specifically back off and let them rush through gens, since that's obviously what they want to focus on.

My queues are instant, so after that quick match, I immediately get into another one while they're back waiting in their long queue. But yeah, I'm not gonna stress myself trying to slow them down when they're intent on getting out quickly. I'll take the bit of XP and call it even.

Edit: Just to clarify, I usually don't play to kill; I usually play just to chase, maybe get a BBQ 4 stack, and screw around. It's difficult to slow survivors down if you're not killing them; it often requires slugging, but too much slugging and then I feel like a bully. So, if a bunch of gens pop right at the beginning of the match, then it's not really possible to play a chill game. That is why I'll just back off and let them finish the gens; then, I get the points for opening the exit gate, and maybe I entertain myself by chasing them off the other exit. That's pretty fun; some have died to the EGC because they were so determined to get that gate or because they didn't pay attention to where the other gate was.

I'm not saying all the perks...

Just this one, why is it such a problem for it being a hex perk?

It wouldn't change anything about the perk itself just being able to get rid of it.

If we are talking about all perks I think that ALL the aura reading perks need some limitations to them.

Because ALL of a hex perk's effects go away when cleansed. That would include the BP multiplier, so once it's cleansed the killer wouldn't be able to get any more stacks. Thrill of the Hunt does not continue to give a BP bonus after being cleansed.

In order for it to be at all fair as a hex perk, the killer would have to be able to get stacks on it for every hook, not for hooking each different survivor once. That would get rid of the incentive not to tunnel one survivor, which is one of the main reasons the perk exists in the first place.

Not everyone is high tier :)

I'm sick of seeing every killer using it as a crutch perk.

You only use it cause you are bad at the game and need aura reading abilities cause you can't find people.

I do exactly as you all say to hide in lockers and to hide behind gens but that doesn't stop bad survivors getting caught non-stop and exposing the other survivors, also the rage quitters getting caught one time.

This game has alot of problems with it and BBQ and chili is one of them, if you are defending the perk its because you have no common sense that after a generator is done that the survivor or survivors are near it.

There is alot of ways to cause pressure and aura reading perks are just used for people that aren't good at the game.

I run Beast of Prey, Distressing, BBQ, and a fourth perk, on pretty much all my killers who have those perks unlocked.

    Is that a crutch build?

  • All they had to do was make it so that Spirit immediately grabbed the ledge before phasing through the window for her vault animation. It looks so cool when she phases through the window, but her grabbing the ledge first would get rid of the mind game aspect that was so maligned.

Instead, they took away the mind game aspect by giving her the same vault animation as the other small-of-stature killers, which looks ridiculous for her. I feel embarrassed for her when I see her vault, now. What a way to ruin something that used to look so cool.

you keep assuming things about myself.

I play with 1 friend and me and him usually 95% of the time are the last two survivors cause the other survivors keep getting caught and don't know the game.

The only time I have a problem with the game is when the killer has BBQ and Chili, nothing else.

Telling me to stop playing the game or get good isn't going to help anyone.

I look up looping videos and other tips and tricks about the game I know how to counter the perk but OTHER survivors don't.

Having to change the way the game is when someone is hooked which should happen about 12 times in a match meaning the killer has 12 chances to find someone using this perk, knowing the person direction he is going, what he is doing (healing or doing a gen or cleansing a totem)

It's sad that you all need a perk that finds people so easily but you tell me to get good at the game or even stop playing, that right there is just straight toxicity.

I love when the killer has BBQ rather than one of the other aura reading / location perks. I can counter BBQ. Easily.

Went up against a killer with Bitter Murmur today. I freakin' never see that perk, so I didn't think to try to counter it. That did me in.

I'd much rather BBQ over Bitter Murmur. When I use tracking perks, Bitter Murmur, Nurse's Calling, Infectious Fright, Surveillance, and Discordance are way better for finding survivors.

BBQ was created the way it is to incentivize killers to not camp the hook and to go after multiple survivors rather than tunneling. One of the biggest complaints from survivors is always about being camped and tunneled. Taking away a perk that helps get killers away from the hook would make the game worse for survivors. Much worse.

I queue almost instantly, no more than 30 seconds. And I am currently rank 3.

I'm about a rank 13 as survivor and when I solo queue I physically cannot get into a game I refuse to wait any longer than five minutes to find a game then I leave

I'm rank 18 as killer. My queues are long during the day but instant in the evening when more people are playing.

I'm rank 16 as survivor. My queues are instant during the day but long in the evening.

In my region on PS4, it's always seemed that as the number of players increases, the number playing survivor increases at a much greater rate than the number playing killer.

  • Why do killers have weapons? It's not fair that they can hit survivors and force them to stop repairing gens.

Why do survivors want a weak opponent? There are four of them, and there's only the one killer. I swear to god, survivors must be so happy whenever I play hide-and-seek as killer, avoiding them all game. I rarely get messages about "that was so boring"; I mostly get messages thanking me, or even friend requests. That is really worrying and rather disheartening, that it seems a gen repair sim is what many players actually want.

(Hopefully the original post is meant to be ironic, but I'm still gonna take this chance to vent a little.)

  • When I don't have BBQ to give me the extra BP, I lose all interest in hooking survivors. I know this from playing killers who didn't have BBQ unlocked on them, yet.

What that means is, without BBQ, if I'm feeling like screwing around and farming points, survivors can go up to a hook, point at it, and I mentally shrug and walk away. I don't care if they want the points for unhooking each other. If I feel aggressive and play for kills, I slug them to death.

I've mentioned this on the forums before, and other players have expressed similar sentiments: that without the incentive of the extra BP from BBQ, hooking survivors feels worthless.

On a similar note, the number of times I see auras with BBQ is far, far fewer than the number of times I see no auras with BBQ. It's also fewer than the number of times I even forget to look for auras with BBQ. Not to mention, when I do see an aura, I often get over there and the survivor is already gone. Yes, I like the aura reading ability, and I'd be pissed if it were taken away, because it's useful when it shows anything, but the perk is not so OP as to need to be a hex. It's not.

And if it were turned into a hex and survivors cleansed it, they are all getting slugged to death. Even if I was just playing for fun and was originally going to let them all escape. Slugged to death. Period.

  • With sounds broken and her phase walk audible within her Terror Radius? Definitely not

  • Yes, I do that.

If a killer is struggling and doesn't resort to camping or tunneling, then I may give a free hook or sacrifice. There have been a few matches where I "messed up" at the exit gate because I felt bad for running them around so long during a match or because someone got a flashlight/pallet save. With the way matchmaking has been lately, I find myself going against rank 20 killers with one perk, and they have no chance against even rank 16 survivors.

I don't mind rewarding killers for playing in a way that's nice, otherwise they'll get frustrated and either stop playing nice or stop playing altogether.

Would you mind it if was included in the game as a perk? What if it included a range so you had to be within a certain distance to see the hatch?

What I'm really asking is if what if the killer had access to a carbon copy of Bill's "Left Behind" perk. If you think that's still unfair for a sole survivor who got stuck with potato players, would it be better if it was a hex perk?

I think the killer needs a way to counter hatch camping. As a matter of fact, I remember someone complaining that a match was going on for too long after I had a perfect 3 gen setup and their teammates were being useless by camping hatch.

A perk to show the killer the hatch's aura if they kill 3 survivors before 2 gens are done would be really situational. I don't think that happens that often for most killers. As a killer, I wouldn't bet one of my perk slots on being able to stop survivors from completing more than one gen during the match.

I almost never see anyone running Left Behind, and that has a lot more utility.

Ok, well firstly, I do sympathise how absurdly fast it is possible for gens to pop. That doesn’t mean old Ruin is/was mandatory.

It’s bloody hard work but it is entirely possible to pressure and draw the match out significantly without old Ruin.

The heart of the problem in my view is how lenient map assets are to assist survivors to draw out chases for ages. It makes for a gruelling match to abandon a significant percentage of chases, and slowly exhaust survivors resources.

Yeah, playing killer is a battle of attrition, and on many maps it feels like there's just no end to the survivors' resources.

I hope the maps get reasonable reworks in the near future.

  • I like this idea. While I understand why the devs made it so that the hatch spawns even when zero gens are done, I've always thought that they didn't balance properly for it. Not when combined with the RNG of it being able to spawn at the last survivor's feet (man, I really felt like I cheated those killers out of a 4k). If the killer kills three survivors and fewer than two gens were completed, then showing the killer the hatch's aura would be a nice reward for putting that much pressure on the survivors. And it's still not a guarantee the killer will get to it first, especially not if it spawns across the map from a low-mobility killer.

  • I hook Meg. I go off and chase other survivors. Meg gets unhooked. I hook Dwight. A healthy Meg comes over and goes for the save; I grab her and get DS'd. Then, she got the save while I was stunned. My other option at that moment was to hit the healthy Meg, after which she also would've gotten the save.

I absolutely wasn't tunneling. I went off, let her get unhooked for free, and she used her 60 seconds of immunity to make a save in my face right after I hooked another survivor. DS shouldn't be able to be used like that.

  • I pretty much avoid hex perks. I don't think they're worth it.

I got the "Blood On Your Face" achievement using Devour Hope... that was actually way, way more difficult than getting the "Evil Incarnate" achievement, later. Trying to keep a hex alive long enough for it to be useful is a pain.

    (Edited for grammar)

  • My friend was going to dodge a lobby with three flashlights last night... I was like nah, man, give it to me. I went in there with Doc and did nothing but shock the crap out of them and slug them. I let them all go, even though they were totally 3-gen'd, but they never used those flashlights once.

Moral of the story, if you don't wanna be dodged and you want to play a normal game, don't come in with a bunch of toolboxes or a bunch of flashlights. I have a foolproof method for handling 3+ toolboxes... I have fun watching something on YouTube while they have fun gen rushing and escaping. Everyone wins. (Honest question: For those survivors, is that better or worse than the killer dodging their lobby?)

  • I'm curious: How easy is it to set up KB+M on PS4 Pro? And how much would it cost? Anyone know? (I'd love to use KB+M if it were an option, but it being affordable and not needing to hack the system would be requirements.)

Or just most frame complaints come from PS4 and it's garbage optimization

DbD is the only game that gives me problems on my PS4 Pro. Red Dead Online and Battlefront 2 both run fine, and they have better graphics and more players online... The problem with the optimization doesn't lie with the PS4: it's specifically DbD.

  • @darktrix said:

If they don't recover, they stay slugged.

^ This. I'm not getting myself killed over someone who can't even bother to recover.

  • I had a couple games where killers DC'd recently.

In one, it was an Oni on Lery's who, with only one or two gens left, hadn't even hit a single survivor. I noticed during chases that he wasn't able to track via scratch marks very well, so he must've been very new and he was going against survivors who had more than an hour's experience.

The other was a Spirit on Ormond who maybe got a hit on one survivor, but overall she did poorly in chases, and in the middle of a chase with me she ran into a wall and just kept running for a few seconds before the game suddenly ended. Maybe it was a connection thing, but she probably quit on purpose.

I couldn't blame either of them for quitting. I'm sure they were having no fun whatsoever, were very frustrated, and had probably earned next to nothing for BP. Sometimes after matches like that, I wonder if those players will ever try killer again.

  • You have to make your own fun as killer... playing the way the game wants you to isn't fun for a lot of people...

You could just go for the BBQ 4-stack and everything after that is bonus points.

You can meme. Teabag-off as Ghostface. Pretend to be a survivor as Pig. Do a basement build.

You can play killer and make it your goal to earn as much BP as possible without pipping. I'm still trying to perfect this at rank 18. At that rank, you can pip without killing a single survivor. So far, I either have to go afk as soon as I get the BBQ 4-stack, or I can play all match but have to refrain from hooking all 4 survivors.

You can play hide-and-seek all match, pretending like the four survivors are the monsters and you're the victim.

You can put on the Doc and do nothing but shock them all match. Just don't 3-gen them for more than 10 minutes, as then it becomes holding the game hostage.

You can use a killer you're not good with, put on one (preferably crappy) perk, and either see how well you can do or try on purpose to play as poorly as possible, whiffing and never getting a single hook...

(These are just some examples of dumb things you can do to relieve the stress of playing killer.)

Also, I play whichever role has the shorter queue time, because if you're waiting in a long queue, you're more likely to be frustrated if a match goes poorly, whereas if queues are quick, then it doesn't matter if you get tunneled out as survivor, and it doesn't matter if you throw the match and meme as killer, because you get into another match right away.

  • ... Am I the only player who hoards add-ons and items "for a rainy day" (whatever that'll be)... I run add-ons maybe 1 out of 200 killer matches...

I haven't checked, to be honest. I try playing killer from time to time, but I don't find it as fun b/c it's a bit too competitive for me.

And I think you summed up part of the problem right there... a lot of people don't want to play killer because they don't find it fun. I mean, if you don't want to do it, then it's not surprising others don't want to do it, either, right?

For me, during the daytime, survivor queues are normally quick while killer queues are long. In the evening, when more people are playing, survivor queues are long while killer queues are instant. I just play whichever role has the shorter queue time, or if I don't want to do that, I play a different game. But I'm not gonna play lobby simulator, because no one finds it fun to spend more time waiting than actually in a match.

  • How long are your killer queues?

  • I'm Devotion 8 and I'm still pretty bad at the game... and my friend, who plays at a rank 20 level, also likes to play on my account...

Not to mention, player level is affected by playing both killer and survivor, but if someone who's mained survivor for 3 devotion levels suddenly starts playing killer, well, it's going to treat them the same as someone who mained killer for 3 devotion levels.

  • @emptyCups said:

Yeah I do this as wraith as well so survivors dont get any BP

Opening the exit gates on them is funny as well they get that much less.

I get alot of hate mail when I kill someone so I guess people have more fun when they never see the killer at all. That's why I started

Isn't it crazy? I get hate mail for playing the game, but not when I just let survivors do gens and leave. It makes me think they really would prefer a gen repair sim with no killer slowing them down.

  • I've had a couple killers quit, I assume on purpose, in the past few days while playing survivor...

I didn't even blame them. I felt bad; they couldn't have been having fun.

The thing that gets me is when survivors act all cocky, throw pallets on your head, but then disconnect if they start losing.

It'd be nice if all the pipping problems that come with a player disconnecting would be fixed.

  • I got lucky, I sabo'd all 10 hooks in one match. Turned out the killer wasn't interested in killing us, so I got a real break, there. I really thought I was gonna get tunneled out with extreme prejudice.

On the one hand, a hook sabo'er isn't doing gens, which means the match goes slower. On the other hand, I will absolutely stop playing nice and kill someone I see sabo'ing hooks if they catch me in the wrong mood. I've slugged survivors to death for it.

It's not toxic or unhealthy to sabo hooks, but neither is it toxic if the killer slugs, tunnels, or camps the sabo'er. That's the game. Just because you get annoyed at a playstyle doesn't make it toxic or unhealthy.

  • Those Tome challenges are off to the side and do not have to be completed in order to reach the end of Tome Level 1, nor do they have to be completed to finish the Rift. It is only necessary to do those challenges if you want to unlock the Lore.

  • My friend basically can't handle survivors better than rank 15. He just reached rank 17, and suddenly he's getting survivors in the purple ranks. So, his choices are to either stop playing, or to leave matches early to de-pip back to 18. The second thing is against the rules, so if he abides by the rules, then he's not playing killer again until the next rank reset.

  • Someone messaged my friend today complaining that he "camped them to death" (after clicky-clicking at him, they reached second state on their first hook because another survivor kept hanging out around it... they didn't die on their first hook, nor did they get put right back on the hook after being saved). Also claimed to have blasted my friend live on stream and that he should change his user account, now. -_-

  • @MrPeterPFL said:

I believe those actions give you extra blood points but not exp

Indeed. XP is rewarded based on time spent in match, and it maxes out at about 600 XP. There's a slight bonus for getting emblems, but it's so inconsequential that it's not worth worrying about.

I can't blame people for AFKing to help grind the Rift. For the previous Rift, I did Totem Protector Bubba. I can't do that anymore with New Ruin, so if I need to grind XP for the Rift, I'll just half-ass Doc walking around occasionally hitting survivors with Static Blast or something. It's almost as effortless as AFKing, but I'm still actually playing... kinda.

  • I play on PS4. I like roleplaying as killer, putting on one useless tier 1 perk and then running around hiding all match like the survivors are the monsters and I'm the victim. More like a real horror game that way.

  • All except for Demogorgon, because I don't own the Stranger Things DLC.

  • If I know a survivor was camping the hatch, I judge them. Harshly. If it's down to two survivors and I keep seeing one working on gens but not the other one... I'll try to find the other one.

I had a game today where I killed two and I let the final two finish the last gen and escape... except one of them died to the EGC. I got a message after from the one who escaped telling me "She kind of deserved it." Apparently, the one who died had just waited for the other one to finish doing the gens but then was too chicken to run past me to the exit... karma, eh.

  • He's good for torture. It's great to have on Whispers and Distressing, and then whenever Whispers lights up you know you can use Static Blast to good effect. Though, the cool down is too dang long, so in short matches you hardly get to use it.

They did add more challenges in the first level but it'll only get you 1 more tier

Reeaally? Ugh, that sucks. Hopefully the later Tome levels will make up for that... hopefully...

Grinding out the XP to earn Rift Fragments was the thing that made the first Rift so painful.

  • I finished the first Rift without buying tiers.

If there are more challenges to help with earning Rift Fragments, then that will help with the grind. I like doing the challenges when they're reasonable and not based on luck. If I reach tier 70, I'll buy the Premium Pass.

  • She's not fun to play as on console. I used to enjoy the challenge of it, but once they added the cooldown to her blinks, it no longer felt rewarding to bother with her. Games should be fun.

  • The cooldown makes her annoying to play as. It's not fun. I used to like the challenge of trying to play her on PS4... I was never good as her, I just enjoyed landing precise blinks... but it's no longer rewarding.

  • I went up against some poor Doctor today who only got one down (me, because rather than running during a chase I wanted to throw down a pallet and then lift it back up... hey, I was amused), and then I was rescued by another survivor blinding him with firecrackers.

I felt so bad that he never even hooked anyone, I gave myself up after the exits were opened and let him kill me. I just couldn't imagine he'd had a fun match.

That was my one and only survivor game, because survivor queues are long and killer queues are instant.

  • Survivors still DC against the Doctor, so... there's that.

  • Every time a match starts loading, the fans on my PS4 go CRAZY. It's been happening since the update today. I've never heard them get this loud before. Loading screens in DbD have often set the fans going, but this is much, much louder than it had been.

Frame drops have always been an issue, unfortunately. At least for me. I don't remember ever seeing an improvement after any update.
