Should it be "The Entity gives you a cookie"?

I mean, it used to be "Entity Displeased"; but Killers complained about that, now it is "The Entity Hungers" which is more neutral. I think this is fine.

As opposed to "Match Result: DEAD" 8/10 solo queue matches 😄

indeed i would completely remove those messages, since there's no need that someone (or something) would tell me how i played on specific criteria (kills instead of hooks in that case)… As i said, changing that would probably help to fight toxicity too since the game will be centered more abour hooks instead of kills… it's not a big deal to do and it will be coherent with the antitunnel and anticamp things that the devs did so far (basekit bt, increaded speed and auto unhook)

  • I just stated a solution for that (actual) problem, i didn't say that It doesn't need to be fixed, if you don't want to take a perk for countering another perk then it's your problem... Both sides have to play around the perks of each other so that's nothing new honestly.

I do not really get why nowhere to hide is not binded to the gen instead of the killer. The reach could stay at the current range, but the aura reading needs to be static on the gen and should not be allowed to "travel with the killer" as esp. strong killers like nurse often times just relies on this.

if you have troubles with that just take distortion. easy counter, you're welcome

after thousands of hours of dbd I’ve officially became bored of playing 1v4 and I get happy when 2v8 comes out. Am I the only one that thinks 1v4 needs some type of separate objective than just gens?

fully agree… tbh the 2vs8 was the best thing that the devs did so far in my opinion, the 1vs4 feels too much sweaty for my taste

I'm not talking about it in terms of how perks work so nothing you said is particularly relevant tbh.

I think those perks should proc in that scenario. What I'm talking about is survivors complaining. And I'm not even a killer main I play survivor more recently but a good amount of killer too.

If you intentionally interact with game objectives directly off hook its not tunneling, it's dumb play by the survivor.

well, for me they shouldn't complain and also those perks shouldn't be active in those cases for the same reason that killers got camping and tunneling nerfed so much… since devs want to punish those kind of "optimal" gameplay because they aren't fun for the other side, they should do that too also with the survivor's strategies as well… but we are talking about a company that has two weights and two measures…

If the unhook uses their BT to take a hit id consider it making a play in game and thus no longer tunneling if I were to chase them instead.

IIt's only tunneling when you're intentionally going after someone off hook. Once they make a play to advance the game, healing, generators, taking a hit they give up their right to call anything tunneling because they are creating interaction with the killer and the killers objectives.

Say that to Ds, otr, babysitter and shoulder the burden... You may be not considering tunneling when you chase a survivor that was unhooked due to purposely bodyblock, but the game will recognize this as tunneling and this is what really matter

I mean, I'm an Onryo main so objectively one of the worst killers for facing good survivor teams and I don't really feel the need to slug. A hook state gives the same pressure honestly.

Of Course I'll admit there are times slugging is the best play, but as long as they don't entirely nerf it into the ground I don't think my matches will be much different.

theorically hooks over slug should give a BETTER pressure, but it's not sadly… to further prove my point it's sufficient to see how they gutted the perks for patrolling and slowing down the generators (ruin, pop, overcharge, etc etc) and the perks that reward the killer for doing mixed hooks (hello BBQ): they were one of the FEW reasons that allow people to play more chill generally speaking… Instead of modify the game by rewarding the killer for doing mixed hooks and make good plays they limited themself to make basekit features that punish the killer and are abusable (you try to go for the rescuer, the unhooked survivor bodyblock you with his basekit BT to make an example)

BHVR: "Thank you. After all the amazing feedback from our beloved player base, we have concluded there is one thing the players truly want. Nerf Pig."

Seriously speaking they will probably nerf the only viable option left for the killers in order to slow down the pace of the game… Slugging. Instead of trying to adress WHY killers do it they prefer to make unviable all the (nasty) stategies that they have (they did it for camping and for tunneling, they will do it even for slugging, it's only a matter of time).

  • This killer has a simple yet effective counter… Turn to left/right when the dog will try to bite you. My job here is done.

Best thing you can do is vote with your wallet. For the first time since twins (due to the massive buggy release) i did not purchase the new killer with money and instead used shards. And i will not be spending any money until SM is put back into a playable state.

at this point you won't spend money on this game anymore… in the past i wanted to give them a chance by buying chucky, alien and vecna… after that i refused to give them my money due to their questionable choices… i should have done that already when they changed deathslinger…

  • i've a suspect: every time that the devs must do some changes, they throw a dice and based on the result they will nerf x/y killer… there were more pressing matters than nerfing chucky right now, yet they did it… they did something extremely dumb: they killed another killer, reducing the pool of the killer available (i doubt that people will be so masochist and still play him after those changes)

  • @SweetbutaPsycho said:

To preface this: I very very rarely play survivor. Im mostly a killer main and have like 90% of my hours on killer.

Today I decided to do some challenges from the archives for survivor and the experience has just been absolutely miserable.

First of all the killers I got were some prestige 100 nurse and blights 8 games in a row, which I already find very weird since I would assume that my survivor MMR is super low since I almost never play survivor and if I do I rarely get out cause I'm not very good. So I would think that I shouldn't go up against prestige 100 S-Tier killers with 6k hours in the game but apparently MMR thinks otherwise.

What I found even more annoying was that 7 out of those 8 killers played the same strat, which is just down everyone, slug them, wait out unbreakables if they even exist and then let everyone bleed out for the rest of the match refusing to hook anyone. I mean my team would have lost anyways since when I checked their profiles most of them were players with like 100-500 hours vs 6k hours killer players. Noone lasted in chases longer than 20 seconds.

Both those things combined, the wonky mmr system and then losing one chase and literally not being able to do anything for 4 minutes just makes for such a miserable experience. No fun to be found.

At this point those killers are honestly just asking the Devs to make unbreakable basekit imO

sure let's add something potentially broken for the survivors… BT basekit, haste (10%) for 10 seconds and mini deliverance if the killer is camping aren't enough i guess instead of fixing the issues of having an AWFUL matchmaking and having outdated mechanics that need to be modified…

  • @smurf said:

It's fine to complain about those things from both sides. Toxicity in online gaming is a problem, and a lot of gaming communities seem to have a lot of people who are unnecessarily hostile to each other. And if we don't bring these things up, it is an absolute certainty that they won't be addressed.

I will say that we're fortunate to not be as toxic as certain other gaming communities...

Edit: This comment was in response to one by another user, but that original comment has been removed. So context may be unclear.

it wasn't removed, as always a mod modified my comment without the necessity to doing so -_- … Anyway, slugging par se isn't toxic, but it could be annoying for the survivors… Most of the times it's a necessary evil in order to gain more time and it's a gameplay mechanic… Even certain killers base their gameplay on this mechanic (twins and oni respectively). it's like finishing generators under the killer's nose or bodyblocking with basekit bt: the killer will found those actions EXTREMELY annoying (and some people will find this even toxic), but in reality it's optimal gameplay… in order to change those things the devs should stop to punish killer for everything that survivors found unfun and concentrate of making the game more balanced toward chases and mixed hooks rather than kills, but this is pure uthopia since facts proves that they care more about muh stats rather than actual gameplay

  • Those problems are still here and people must deal with it… if you don't like how things are going i suggest you to change game, and no, i'm not saying this in a mocking manner but genuinely speaking because things won't change here… The devs had a lot of time to fix the problems of this game but after all those years people keep talking about the same issues since the game came out…

I just take issue with her overall strength

Currently, I feel like she's very similar to PTB and release singularity, where the effort you need to put in for the killer to work is really not comparable to how little reward you gain from it and how easy the survivor can just turn it off / easily counter it

Even if we ignored all her bugs and you played her pretty well

With a skill ceiling high as hers and still feels "eh.. weak.." She should probably get some buffs

nah, she's pathetically weak, perhaps one of the worst killers in the game since she has a power that actually punish you for using it. i still wonder how such abomination left the ptb unchanged…

  • honestly i'm surprised that this abomination left the ptb unchanged… she's awfully weak and her power is actually a hinderance for her rather than an advantage… i already did her adept but you know how i did it? This is more geared at survivors but if it happened through playing killer of course chime in too.

I kinda wonder if the reason soloQ sucks for so many people is you don't really have any opportunity to get out of soloQ cuz it's hard to make friends through the game. I feel like it's fairly common to do through an Overwatch or a Monster Hunter or any RPG but DBD? Been here since 2016 and it's never happened.

I thought about why that was and DBD doesn't really give you the opportunity to do it. You have a short 1 minute pregame lobby and can only text if you're on PC then the entire game is in silence. Maybe you get a cool teammate and you might say something about it post game but that's really it and nothing ever comes of it and it's rare for all four survivors to still be around for the post game lobby.

This is why being soloQ in DBD is so much tougher compared to other games cuz other games actively encourage you to team up with other people but solo survivor really does seem all about surviving by yourself.

So is this a problem? Should this change? Am I wrong and you have actually teamed up with other people you've met in game? I'm really curious about other people's experiences with this.

dbd players are natural enemies. Like twitch streamers and dbd players. Like youtuber And dbd players. Or influencers and dbd players. Or dbd players and other dbd players. Damn dbd players! they ruined dbd!

in all seriousness i found someone that wasn't a prick and ended to become friends despite i'm a killer main, but i always refused to play as a premade (or at least with VC since i keep saying that this game was created without considering VC for the game balance). In short words it's possible to find friends even in this game no matter the role that you are playing, but it's not common to find people actually chill and available for a friendly chat

For real, had a match with Clown earlier tonight and my main plan was to equip Surge and get that 8 damaged gens tome challenge done in a jiffy. Well, RNG brought us to Eiry and the game lasted 8:30min with 3 hooks. Those survivors were cracked and out for blood! But 8:30min … oof, should a Clown match be that short?

Well, the next match brought us to the Yamaoka family estate and even though the survivors got an early flashlight safe, I totally tabled them and got three kills, all within the void, ain't that funny? I bet there is a joke somewhere in there.

That last survivor never got hooked and I escorted that Sable to the exit gates and she escaped at … wait for it, 8:30min … oof, should a Clown match be that short?

But at least it was all perfectly balanced - but in a totally crooked and twisted way. Clown lauged - but was not amused.

You were lucky after all... True genrushers makes games even shorter, especially if they take brand new parts paired with green toolboxes and perks for improving genspeed. Just yesterday i got a team that in 5 minutes did all the generators… you know that what could save the day in those cases? Noed (situational, true, but still useful)

I already know what you think, repeating it to me does not convince me, thats why I asked you, How would you PERSUADE someone to think your way is the correct way to view things? Last chance, cause personally im fine where I am rn on this topic.

If you think that being outplayed by perks or basekit features fine then, good for you, i don't need to persuade people on that matter, the EXPERIENCE of playing killer and having to deal with those kind of bs stuff quite often could change the mind of someone that won't think this...

  • @Emeal said:

By that logic, Killers would not be required to sacrifice, because they are not called 'Sacrificers'

Sorry, the Killer role contains many parts and facets all of which are important, but the game wont go on forever so therefore the Killer must prevent gens being done in a timely manner and therefore It can be said that once gens are lit the Killer has lost the first section of the game if no survivors are dead.

Think about it, how would you persuade anyone to accept your view, dont things run fine the way they are?

Putting someone on the hook will indirectly kill them (3 times), protecting generators won't kill anyone so... No.

My point stand: if i lose, i want lose because i'm being outplayed, not because muh basekit feature save the day

  • @TheRealConsent said:

As a Killer main, I support the Survivors here. The alternative to you having a chance at a trade through preventing the unhook, is a guaranteed kill if there's no basekit BT.

You can stand next to the hook, wait for the unhook, tap once, rebook. There's no interaction. It's a free down no matter how Survivors play it.

you know, bodyblock exist… if people aren't even able to do this then it's a deserved fail… i wonder if you played dbd before the basekit bt was implemented at this point…

It's not over until the survivors will leave the map, until that moment EVERYTHING can happen (especially if you have an endgame build) so no, you are wrong about that...

Actually no, its the Killer's job to prevent the Generators being done. Your comments has no impact because even if you had an endgamebuild survivors would still be fairly stronger if all 4 survived until that point. The point is if the Killer should have Basekit BT be disabled once all gens are done, which again. my point still stands, the killer failed to prevent.

the job of the killer is TO KILL/SACRIFICE, not guarding the generators, otherwise they wouldn't be called killers, don't you think? generators are only a delaying tool in order to reach their goal

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3830989#Comment_3830989

You have the entire rest of the game up until that point to make sure that doesn't happen. If you are at the point where your only option and hope of getting a kill was to hook a survivor that close to an opened gate, then you have already been outplayed throughout the match up to that point and at that point the survivors should have the advantage.

Removing basekit BT in endgame would just make the perk mandatory to run again which is exactly what making it basekit was supposed to stop.

as i said before, endgame builds exist and survivors escape the moment that they'll leave the trial, period. NO ONE should get a basekit advantage in the first place… for that logic then if the survivors only stick to generators without doing totems, unhooks or heals, noed should be basekit and without the possibility to get rid of it because they should be punished for playing in that way and ignoring everything else (like they did for camping and tunneling)…

  • @Steakdabait said:

The counter is to not let 5 gens pop.

Thing that's impossibile to do if you are aganist survivors that aren't braindead

    @SoGo said:

And survivors have almost no counter to a killer face-camping during endgame.

They can only try to swarm the hook and body block.

Also, you can avoid the problem of survivors escaping with endurace by hooking far from the gate.

The thing that you mention is the counter... Survivors must play as a team in order to win... If you don't have decent players you can't win, you can only hope for the hatch. A bit difficult to hook far from the exit gates when people body block/sabo hooks, don't you think? Not to mention that sometimes hook spawn Is ######### up for good.

    @Emeal said:

If there are enough Survivors left to do a save like you describe, then you already lost the game as Killer.
Most of the time all they can do is trade for another Survivor, which you should take.

It's not over until the survivors will leave the map, until that moment EVERYTHING can happen (especially if you have an endgame build) so no, you are wrong about that...

    @sizzlingmario4 said:

No. If you're in a position where you had to hook someone that close to an open gate and survivors are in good position to make the save then you already lost. Killers shouldn't be given a free kill just because it's endgame.

And survivors shouldn't get a free escape just because basekit feature will outplay you, plus what i said above.

  • @TotemsCleanser said:

You know how some folks say survivors should have basekit Unbreakable or killers should have basekit old BBQ? Well, what perks do YOU think should be basekit? They can also be mechanics that do not currently exist as perks.

Personally, I vouch for basekit Corrupt Intervention and Unbreakable. I think that survivors having access to one (1) instance of self pick-up would alleviate the slugging issue a lot. Whereas some killers struggle a lot with the early game and Corrupt Intervention is a necessary staple to their builds, leaving them with a permanently occupied perk slot. BEAR IN MIND that incorporating these two perks as basekit would require other adjustments to be implemented into the game so that they are balanced.

unbreakable and ds (with increased stun and can be used 2 times) for survivors and noed (without totem) and rancor for killers… since the devs are making all the strongest killer strategies weak (and others like hit and run were nerfed so much that are almost useless) because they are unfunny for the survivors they should get some compensations at least in the end game (mind you, at this point for implementing this change you should sod off statistics, which isn't a bad thing unlike people used to think)… in that way people won't be mercilessly tunneled out of the game from the start and can play without worrying too much (and to avoid possible exploits survivors should lost their hitbox for 15 seconds once they were unhooked, in that way they can't exploit bodyblocks with something that was supposed to protect you in case of hard tunneling)

  • good words, but… you must be really optimistic if you think that the dbd playerbase could be touched by your essay generally speaking (mind you, it's a good thread, but not everyone have the maturity to discuss about those things)… it's sufficient to see the endchat after a match to get what i mean. Anyway, i wish you good luck for your campaign aganist cancer.

    Here are a few rules:

    • Do the gen in front of my face instead of running for your life and suffer the consequences.
    • Bring a map offering and prepare to have the less fun you can possibly imagine out of a game.
    • Break my first hook attempt and it's four-slug-city for the team.
    • Playing a gens-before-friends game will not work as well as you hope.
    • Play against your team and you'll be the first one to die. Maybe the only one, just because.

I almost always punish these and I almost always get salt in the following chat. It's kind of the cherry on top.

those are my rules in a nutshell… The only thing I might make an exception to would be sabo hook (unless it's one of THOSE teams, in that case "no pity, no remorse, no fear") and i would add people that abuse perks/stuff like styptic agent, brand new part and flashlights with strong addons and basekit bt in order to waste your time (if i'm going for the healthy survivor and you bodyblock on purpose, you asked to be tunneled)

  • @Royval said:

The perk is horrible at least give survivors the chance to use it more than twice. It’s trash no point in running it can’t even be used in deep wound. So sad to see such a fun perk from back then become a laughing stock perk.

I hope this BS dies down but this has been happening every other game that the killer gets a 4k. If the Killer stands on the hatch and there's gens left there's nothing that can be done. I go to the killer to end the match, he closes the hatch in my face, bleeds me out, humps me, and then mori me.

Please just auto close the hatch after 2 minutes.

Bad sportmanship, like tbags… Is this scummy? Yes. Is this punishable? No. There's only one thing that we can do about toxic "gameplay": deal with it (let be honest, devs won't do nothing about it… they had the possibility to do it more than once in the past but they NEVER adressed this aspect of the game, they only added a filter for the endgame chat that's virtually useless and call it a day)

  • It's like tbags... No one like them but It doesn't matter since those are allowed and things won't change... You can't do much about It... Just ignore It and do something else while bleeding to death (alt-tab and do something else)

  • that char has already too many skins (not to mention that she's annyoing, even more than feng so…)

  • not gonna happen since the game is SWF oriented… killers and solo survivor players must suffer for that… take it or leave it, it's a simple choice after all…

You cross paths with another DBD player who is curious on the state of dbd in 2024. What is something you could tell them about the game that would cause them to stare at you with concern, confusion, or disbelief?

    Example: "Survivors have flamethrowers, bro"

Technically they have a sort of flamers (when aganist alien) anyway... Slightly smaller maps but with more pallets (most of them unsafe, but the safe ones are God pallets and cannot be mindgamed), BT basekit feature for survivors and you can't camp due to anticamp mechanics added into the game, all gen regression perks butchered into oblivion, a lot of killers nerfed (some of them completely killed like Freddy, deathslinger and skull merchant, but at least the doctor will become a decent killer) and the MOST ANNOYING THING: we're gonna live forever and bbq lost their multiplier bonus for bloodpoints (incentivizing tunneling even more btw)... I could wrote an essay, but i'll stop here

  • I can already predict how they will "rework" him: they will remove all the addons that allow him to kill survivors (which could be fine if his basekit will be buffed, but on that point i'm a bit skeptical...) while in T3, they will also REMOVE scratched mirror and vanity mirror (which i COMPLETELY DISAGREE since those addons are fun and not even so powerful as people claim), in exchange they'll remove the limit of stalk that you can get par person (honesty i reached that point ONLY when i was aganist bad survivors and i wanted to play with them without actually killing them, so this would be more a Qol change)

  • @Atom7k said:

I think we all know the feeling when we see the killer picking a map. It is the same feeling killers get when seeing offerings for survivor sided maps.
In my early days I thought it was a tool to see more maps because the matchmaking doesn't feel very versatile sometimes.
Right now it feels more like a war. If I pick a map as killer half the matches never start because someone dc'ed. If I deny the survivor map offering with Sacrificial Ward some dc too. If we get on the killer map we get destroyed. If we go to the survivor map the killer has a hard time.

I started to bring a Sacrificial Ward into every match because I am so tired of this. Especially flash light specialist seem to love to bring an offering. The matches where no map offerings are brought are very rare lately and it never is a neutral map its always either a heavily survivor sided map or a map that's really benefitial for the killer.

So overall …. nobody really likes map offerings, well at least if youre not on the side who brought it.
Reworking the problematic maps could be a way but honestly im not the biggest fan of it because chaos is good for a game and rng cannot be flat and fair all the time. On the other hand removing map offerings from the game does sound extreme.

So is there something we can do?

Imo only people who play scratched mirror myers should be able to put map offerings (i know i know, you have wallhacks, but your movement speed is so slow that a survivor can literally keep you busy for the entire match by circling around a single loop due to bigger hitboxes that the killer has so... Unless you are aganist newcomers that play for the first time you'll NEVER catch them in open maps). Aside this exception map offerings should be DELETED from the game generally speaking since they promote also unfun games (i have a rule for map offerings: as killer if i see them i'll tunnel to death no matter what since you indirectly asked for It, while as survivor i'll stick to generators and escape as soon as possibile in order to deny points... Tbag bonus if said killer played like an ######### from the start)

  • @TheDavidKingMain said:

    Yeah, I said it.

Let’s stop pretending that the biggest problem in the game is anything besides how rampant tunneling is.

Just look how miserable chaos shuffle is for survivors currently. Extremely low chance of getting anti tunnel, meaning that if the killer wants to tunnel you out immediately they can VERY likely do so.

You should not NEED to run anti tunnel to have a playable experience.

fair, but i want noed and pain resonance (old version with the new changes regarding gen regression) basekit as well… deal?

  • @Nathan13 said:

These add ons are probably the most boring ones to go against, when I play Myers even I don’t find it fun. I really wanna see Myers reworked or something and we need to revisit the add ons. Not that I blame survivors because I don’t like being tombstone’d at 5 gens because thats some BS.

i can understand why tombstone addons aren't funny, but if you are being moried at 5 gen at this point it's just skill issue from the survivors at this point (stalking with myers will require a lot of time… by the time that he will reach tier 3 most of the gens should be already done). Regarding the scratched mirror well, it's the only FUNNY way to play myers imo… the only problem about this addon is that require an indoor map to be somewhat viable (you are so slow that unless a survivor will stay idle or run in a straight line, you'll never catch them… add also perks and you are screwed for good)… i don't see the point of complaining about scratched mirror myers honesty

If you are a killer main, it's what you want to blame it on and say it's entitlement or survivors are just bad but this is not an issue for killer role and not in other PvP games either unless it's very unbalanced. Players are not sticking around if are no winning chances. It's the dev responsibility to address balance issues and ensure players have a sense of objective worth.

Those are facts, you like It or not this is the truth... You know that devs will never fix mmr since they aren't able to do a system that work on that matter. As i said, i got matches that despite seems disperate were completely reversed, both as survivor and as killer... For instance then a killer that isn't able to do hooks in a match should DC for your logic... DC Is never justified unless someone Is cheating period (it's can be considered a chance to learn from better players when you are aganist people stronger than you)

  • @mecca said:

Improve the survivor experience and reduce the power imbalance between killer and survivor and you'll see survivors wanting to stick around. Too many matches are simply unwinnable for the survivors. It's so simple.

nah, most of the times is just entitlement… if a killer is winning at this point i'll try to do many gens as i can and eventually look for the hatch (i even had some matches that were completely reversed with this mentality)… if people are spineless and won't even try to play at this point it's not a problem about killers being too strong or survivors being too weak…

I don't know what is going on today, but today I wanted to do killer challenges and have some fun chases…

But as soon as I load up - there are 1-2 survivor players instantly leaving the match, it happening so often today, I know the reason why are they leaving, and I felt like… Let's have a "final" conversation on that part…

I'm not going to create anymore similar threads about it personally, and this is my message to this topic:

Dear survivor players - if you q-ed up to a match - be ready to face ANY killer from the whole cast of characters. Do not expect to face only killers that YOU like.

Leaving from a match as soon as you heard a hatchet, or saw a xeno's stations or etc - Is just bad, spineless, low and embarrassing towards your fellow teammates.

If you play as a survivor - first and foremost - you are a team player. Put your ego and preferences aside and think about other 3 or 2 players in your team and how your bad action is going to affect other players experience. If you don't care about other players in your team - don't play as a survivor, it's not for you.

Have some moral principles and basic respect to other players, not only other survivors, but also the killer. I'm playing both sides, I also have killers that I hate to face, but you will never find me DC as soon as I saw them, nor you'll find me DC if the match is going wrong. I have respect to other players and I want everyone in my team have a good time and I want to be useful to my team - this is why I play survivors regularly.

The mentality like this (DC first seconds of the match) - hurting the game. Hurting the experience, and creating a negative impression in new players about the game.

Pay some respect to other people that you play with. If you can't, don't want to, or don't care - don't play in a team, play as a killer alone.

Much love to all of you guys, sorry if I was a bit harsh, and have a beautiful day\evening. ❤❤❤

bold of you to assume that dbd players have honor or will change their mentality about it… just to make an example i had players in the past that went so far for how much entitled they were that not only they chose the map offering, not only they took brand new parts with green toolboxes, not only they exploited anticamping basekit features aganist a killer that wasn't tunneling or camping, but they even forced me to dc, loosing all the bp that i earn during the match (cheat by dossing me)… so in short words, your request will fall on deaf ears since those kind of people are interested ONLY about their fun, they don't care about the others generally speaking… this is the classic deal with it if you keep play this game or play another game to resolve this issue

Im really against this, please reconsider.

I have had games as killer were my only way to get a kill from a bully swf was moris.

You know, i've the suspect that they changed mori for this reason... I suspect that they don't want to upset swf players...

"Just know, if your praising the philosophy of a character being destroyed with nerfs until a rework in over a year. Keep that same energy if it happens to one of your characters or perks. Keep the positive energy going"

Because I doubt this will be the last time they do this approach. They did it with Freddy. Now SM. What happens if another killer or perk is fundamentally problematic? Do we just need to obliterate it with 5 nerfs until a rework comes whenever BHVR sees fit? If that's the approach we want to take, so be it I guess. I feel that's why this is more than just SM overall. It's letting BHVR set a precedent on how they do characters or perks until a rework. Though they already set it with Freddy over 3 years ago. And noone fought then. We will get his rework eventually I'm sure. Twins rework did great right?

aren't you forgetting someone? Deathslinger got the same treatment…

I feel like this is deadass just how the devs intend people to play the game?

technically the devs also balance the game around 2k 2e… Problem is that they don't take into account the whole match itself, but only the results in the end, which is wrong (example: i can do a 4/4 because i slug everyone in the end with noed and BARELY do a couple of hooks in the whole match… Was the match balanced? Decisely no, but for the devs i've overperformed because muh stats…)

I find the secret to enjoying DBD for myself is to not focus on winning and losing, and instead just try to make a goofy build work and try and play for hooks/try to get other players out.

I don't find crushing my opponent(s) with meta perks fun... it's like, I'm running meta, of course I win in that scenario. I try instead to make a game of it, and use quirky little combos and just see how well I can do.

The thought processes that help me are: -

    • MMR is a pointless thing to try and climb, you can't see it, and your reward for climbing it is it makes your games sweatier.
    • Playing suboptimal builds turns every game into a boot camp where you know you're limiting and improving yourself. If you lose, it doesn't matter, cause you're the one handicapping yourself.
    • On Killer: No more that 1 meta gen block/slowdown perk, and no more than 2 off meta gen slowdown perks. No sacrificing until hook 6, prefer no camping or excessive tunneling unless necessary. Always play the hatch gamble. If you lose the game/a 4k with this ruleset, it doesn't matter.
    • On Survivor: No meta exhaustion perks, no Commodius Toolboxes, and no iridescent add-ons. Preferably avoid off meta exhaustion perks and Off the Record. If you lose, it doesn't matter.
    • Change your objective based on how the game is going. 1 player tunneled, another SoH, no hope of escape at 4 gens? I give my teammate hatch... but I want 2 gens powered before I die... keep playing and crank a gen, or try to loop the killer for a different gen to be completed. A Duo uses dying under pallet and power struggle/flip flop with a buddy covering the pick up? Take on the challenge of getting these 2 players hooked. Screw the gens, engage with this new challenge. Or just "I got my perk combo to work once, the rest of the game doesn't matter". This means you always have something to play for.
    • If you're tilted, take a break, or at least play the other side. Tilt makes you play worse, no matter who you are.
    • Always follow the tenet: it isn't over till it's over.
    • Teabaggers/humpers are dorks. Literally just ignore them. They only have as much power over you as you give them.

The advantage of this mindset is if you do get hit with repeated bad games, you normally play without meta perks, so you have lots of room to turn it up several levels if you need to, and you have the MMR to match. You're not being placed in a higher MMR than your actual skill level because you're not running the strongest perks all the time...

I've had streaks where I've lost badly 10 games in a row, got annoyed, had a tea break then thrown on a meta build and suddenly I am causing other players way more problems. Just a couple of games of meta pulls me back to normality again and I can go back to my fun little builds.

I do feel like the community has kinda become obsessed with winning, and doesn't really try to make games fun, either for their opponents or themselves.

you know, you can start with this mindset easily enough, but once you keep having people in your games that constantly play with meta stuff, being extremely toxic and exploiting all the advantages that they could muster well… at this point i'll go to play something else because those matches aren't fun at all and honestly i'm not interested to play with people that can't appreciate non meta matches… as for your points:

    • mmr is literally useless (especially for killers) since it has been proved that there's a softcap that once you reach it, it will be take it into account even with the new released killers, not to mention that said softcap is ridicoulously easy to reach
    • already doing rn but you know, i would gladly have something to make the toxic people pay for their actions rather than giving them easy time
    • i don't use slowdown perks, mostly because they were nerfed into oblivion, so they are worthless
    • i play without items and without meta perks (my build is we'll make it, second wind, kindred and the last one a random perk)
    • as killer i play for chases mostly, but when i see that's not even remotely possible to catch someone in short times due to killer's powers being not strong enough, map, 2nd chances perks and other reasons, it's pointless to play "normal" with those kind of people and you NEED to play around their altruism to get something done. As survivor i don't have any kind of problem except for the survivors that keep trolling (sandbagging, bodyblocking, spamming noise notifications to the killer just because you clease a totem that they wanted to cleanse too, etc etc)
    • that phase doesn't even exist anymore for me rn… it all came at the point of being just ripetitive and boring
    • this is 100% true, it's not over until it's over
    • those are my favourite players to go aganist because they keep wasting their time instead of doing something useful

as i said, for me the point isn't winning, but having a good match, which is translated into good amount of hooks and funny chases, everything else is secondary

Idk… I think you are over representing something that may happen once or twice every 10 or so matches, or more, and focusing a but too much on it.

3 gens on a chase can happen, but… "no matter what you do unless nurse…" is just hyperbolic. If this is truly happening to you a majority of the time then you need to change up your play.

With all the aura read that is in this game you dont really have "time to search for another survivor…" either.

Again, re-evaluate somethings, take a break, and then come back.

nah, it happens most of the times sadly (at least for me, i won't speak for the others)… but you know what usually work when those matches happen (only as killer tho, as survivor at least i can always risk and try to be chased in the endgame for more points)? proxycamping and tunneling… and this bring us to what i stated in this post… and again, it's already a miracle if i'll do a couple of matches in a week since i'm tired of this kind of gameplay… as i said it's not even a matter of winning or loosing at this point… as killer in the past i had matches where i didn't kill anyone but got enough times to do chases and points and matches where despite i killed all the survivors the time to do my job was so short that i could barely do 5 hooks… useless to say that i enjoy the 1st type of matches more than the 2nd one generally speaking…

    • as survivor (solo) the game is almost unplayable due to randoms being EXTREMELY bad (or they are just trolling most of the times, especially when they are aganist a killer that they dislike)

Yup. As well as 0 tools to coordinate or people doing int archives or silly adepts.

    • as survivor (premade) the game is extremely easy, without a real challenge to face

If you are all competitive sure. Bunch of friends though, usually no.

    • survivor gameplay is boring (except being chased by the killer… pressing m1 on a gen for 90 seconds can't be defined funny in my book, not to mention that over time the devs completely erased the stealth aspect of the game… between aura reading perks, brighter maps, etc etc )

Eh, you can make it more fun but at the cost of not doing generators. And killers usually dont care about the speed of the generators, theyll just proceed as normal. And normal usually involves tunneling someone out ASAP.

    • as killer it's a mix between the previous points: solo survivors are relatively easy to beat most of the times (when you are aganist good solo survivors matches become a good challenge, but those matches are extremely rare), premades will screw you up badly, no matter what killer you take, you can't win aganist a 4 stack of people that are actually play for winning (too many 2nd chances perks paired with broken addons for their items and map offerings make the situation even worse), there's no middle ground

Bout the only trouble I have with Legion and Plague are coordinated and competetive swfs. And those are like…. 1/17 games, as with everyone, even people that play this game as a career. Lets not over represent those matches….

Had plenty of 4-3 mans that just die the same, cause its a bunch of friends trying to have some fun together, and not necessarily go full send.

    • they removed optimal gameplay (for the killers mostly due to anti camping stuff added, which mind you it could have been a good thing IF they also changed the survivor's objectives, but this wasn't the case…)

    What?

    • they removed perk variety, especially from killers… everytime that i try to use different perks it always ends in the same way: i try to use different and funny builds/gameplays<survivors start mocking and acting like toxic brats cause they will won without much troubles<i get tired of their behavior<return to my "meta" build and tactics

So because… you try perk setups… that you arent used to… versus perks you are very used to (meta)….

    perk variety was removed?
What perks are you referring to specifically in both cases?

    • some nerfs/buffs were completely unnecessary/unwanted (from perks for killers/survivors to killer's powers)

    Probably.

overall this game isn't fun anymore for me… your thoughts?

Take a break play something else. Reevaluate why you play(ed) the game in the first place or what your goals are in a match.

Seems like with your "perk variety is dead" opinion, you only had one goal/playstyle.

the problem isn't the perk setup par se, but the fact that in a single chase 3 gens will usually go, no matter what you will do (unless you are playing as nurse, but even in this case you can easily have bad times, especially with certain maps)… time to search another survivor, chase him/her and another gen will go and another one almost completed… the problem is that in optimal gameplay YOU CAN'T PLAY THE GAME FOR HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED (healing, doing totems, chases, chests, etc etc)… both as killer and survivor (even if you aren't actually doing gens, the time to farm points is piiful if your team push generators)
