Name a period of time in DBD history that you enjoyed, and, if you would, include the reasons why.

    Thanks 🙃

2019 because matches were a lot more funny and not a race about killing/escaping

  • @sinkra said:

'll just drop the science right away so you get the idea. Killer is obviously overpowered. Overall, survivors only survive 40-43 percent, and killers kill 57-60 percent. Of course this is bad game balance that should be fixed, but the problem is much, much worse than the stats show. Let me explain...

The devs have admitted on numerous occasions that the DC matches are excluded from the kill-rate statistics. This is actually very misleading advertising strategy which artificially inflates survival rates heavily.

Survivors DC on a frequent basis, so this will have a huge impact on survival rates. But why do they DC? Survivors primarily DC because they will most likely lose the match, because the killer is winning, because killer is so overpowered. Most players, including survivors, will finish a match if there is a good chance of winning. This is just human nature.

This is also the same reason most survivors will suicide on hook - they do so when the probability of winning is slim. So most suicides on hook would be legitimate losses for the survivor team regardless, and do not actually inflate kill rate statistics. The amount of suicide-on-hook matches that would end in survivor's favor is very, very small. Since losing 1 survivor creates a snowball effect, most of the matches where that 1 survivor has slim chance of escaping, are also matches where the entire team would have a bad outcome, and the killer would "win" with a 3-4k.

Only a tiny minority of survivor DC's and suicide-on-hooks happen when the survivor/survivors actually has/have a good chance of winning the match. Why? Because most players want to finish games they believe they can win and won't DC or suicide-on-hook.

So what this means is that the game devs are leaving out a massive number of legitimate survivor losses from the statistics, which is actually inflating survival rates dramatically and deflating kill rates immensely. This means kill rates are actually much higher than the public stats above indicate. Of course the devs don't want you to figure this out, because it would spark outrage and protests from the survivor main player base. Of course, I see right through their ploy.

Public stats have kill rates at about 60 against solo Q. But if we adjust for the excluded DC's it is almost certainly closer to a 70-80 percent kill rate. This means killers are massively overpowered. It is already common knowledge at this point that DBD is killer-sided, but it is important to realize that it is far more killer-sided than the devs and killer mains have the courage to admit.

Why won't they admit it? Well, killer mains want to win, so they very naturally welcome balance changes in their favor. They also want to feel good about winning, so they will post hoc rationalize that their win is not because killer role is OP, but because they are just so good at DBD and the survivor mains are just so bad. This is called motivated reasoning, which prevents most killer mains from objectively assessing the actual fairness of the gameplay since it favors their preferred role. This is of course not their fault, it is just human nature.

But the far more interesting question is, why are the game developers hiding the real survival rates, that are far lower than the 40-43 percent above, and closer to a measly 20-30 percent? The answer is very simple: money. Dead by Daylight is first and foremost a business, and the developers have already shown they are willing to implement a pay-to-win model by locking so many essential meta perks behind a pay wall. Of course, for good PR they will give you the opportunity to grind your way to these perks just so they can technically claim it isn't pay-to-win, but they know damn well the average player doesn't have time for this. So the incentive to simply pay up for the competitive advantage in a game with skill-based matchmaking is enormous. You see, it is all part of their carefully crafted marketing scheme orchestrated by top executives.

Now, the game being so heavily killer-sided makes perfect sense. It is the killer mains that make the devs the most money. Why? Because killer DLC is far more appealing and interesting than survivor DLC. If you buy survivor DLC, all you get is a boring cosmetic change and unlock a few unique perks that you either don't care for or can grind for if a perk is really good. But if you buy killer DLC, you get this overpowered bad-ass new monster with unique abilities that make the actual gameplay itself fresh and interesting again, while allowing you to win more without needing much skill at all. This is basically a pay-to-win model, with some very shady and dishonest advertising PR to pretend that it is not.

So how do we fix this problem? Unfortunately it cannot be fixed. As a business, the devs primary motivation will always be money. They have to make a living after all, so they can eat at fancy restaurants, go on fancy vacations, and get intoxicated at fun parties while poor survivors are suffering miserably in solo Q. The killers' primary motivation will always be winning and so the devs will always give killer mains a ridiculously unfair advantage to keep them fat and satisfied and buying more DLC for more easy wins. It's a vicious cycle that goes on endlessly until the game itself is dead. I'd love to end this on a positive note but this is a horror game after all. So this story does not have a happy ending, well, not unless you're a killer main or a DBD dev of course.

If People DC they can't complain. Period. The opinion of those kind of people don't interest me in the slightest because they are too much entitled for seeing the things by a neutral perspective...

The gameplay overall needs a HUGE change, both for killer and survivor. I'm main killer, and I've been playing a bit more survivor lately, but the game is getting again too boring to the point that not even switching role makes me want to play more than 2-3 matches a day.

As killer, I only play friendly killer. 2 hooks on each and you're free to go. Even then, I feel the necessity of having extra objectives as killer to do. If i played normally, having as only objective to kill the survivors leads me to only be after them, no matter who, until they die. That's why people tunnel, slug, and camp. Kicking gens is an absolute joke, just as waste of time. So, what would a killer do if not following survivors in boring loops and killing them? There's no incentive for anything else.

As survivor, doing gens is the most boring thing ever. Just sitting there for a few seconds with 2 skill checks at most and you're done... Unhooking others is the fun part in my opinion, and even chases (even if i suck at that) are entertaining a bit. When on hook, it's also boring as #########, especially if your teammates suck. But since the main objective is repairing the gens, the main gameplay is boring as hell. And since the only objective of killers is to get kills, i often get tunneled, camped, or slugged.

The entirety if the gameplay needs a rework basically from scratch.

i doubt that this will happen sadly, people already suggest secondary objectives to do or another type of mode… those requests were almost completely ignored (at least in some events they do some interesting things such as chaos shuffle, but it's still not enough…)

  • guys, you aren't getting the point that i was trying to make with this thread… forget for a second the statistics… i'm talking about the GAMEPLAY that a match usually have… we ALL know that tunneling and proxycamping are the best strategies out there despite the basekit bt and all the other perks for helping aganist those tactics… the point that i'm trying to make is that devs never tried to actually REWARD a killer that go for mixed hooks… quite the contrary, usually the killer will get punished for not playing in that way… i can tell you my anedocte that i had right now: i was playing in a awful map like lery, trying to playing fair and going for mixed hooks, when suddently the guy that i hooked started to bodyblock me while i was trying to go for the rescuer… he used a basekit feature MADE FOR FIGHTING TUNNELING AND CAMPING aganist a killer that wasn't playing in that way! (and no, i couldn''t wait it out since he was using off the record as well) i was punished for playing fair… this is the issue! you can't try to create a more healthier gameplay if then people literally ABUSE those feature aganist people that are trying to play fair… this was an example of many… for instance that guy has also DS on his build so i was put in a lose/lose situation (my primary target gone, without the opportunity to start a chase with a new survivor and with me being forced to go again for the same guy despite my efforts to go for another one)

p.s: i couldn't do anything about it since he placed himself in a way that completely blocked me from reaching another place without hitting him first

As a survivor, what do you consider a win in the below list:

    1. You get out of the match alive.
    2. Your teammate gets out alive.
    3. your teammate gets out alive thanks to your sacrifice so he could escape.
    4. you and everyone get out alive.

    As a killer:

    1. You sacrifice all 4 survivors.
    2. You sacrifice 3 of the 4 survivors.
    3. You sacrifice 2 of the 4 survivors.
    4. You sacrifice 1 of the 4 survivors

technically my "win" can't be classified cause it depends of the match that i'm playing:

as survivor having a team that isn't braindead is a win (too many ragequitters, too many petty survivors that won't do anything remotely useful, so at this point having people that at least try to play the game is a win for me)

as killer well… here's the part that things get complicated:

if survivors are sweaty i consider a 2k a win (people that play to win as survivor are unstoppable most of the time, you are forced to tunnel to death the 1st one and to camp to death the 2nd one once the gens are done)

if they are toxic getting under their skin is a win (the outcome doesn't matter, it's sufficient to make them pay for their actions)

if they are good solos have fun and get a good amount of hooks is a win

if they are bad well… usually i let them farm some points, then i end the match by finish them off (but it's not a satisfying win obviously)

if they are memeing around i just join them (one of the best outcome imo since it's something different from the usual routine)

  • @bazarama said:

I wish people would get this killer kill rate percentage out of their head.

    4 slugs = 4k

Do this 10 times = 40 kills no hooks.

Add to this survivors killing themselves on first hook and the kill percentage rate is meaningless bs.

Until Devs count hooks you will never get a true measure of killer strength.

This is another reason why in this thread i'm not talking about kills/escapes but about gameplay, but for some reason people fail to grasp this...

As the title suggests, if you were a DBD developer:

What would you most urgently add to the game? How would your gaming experience be significantly improved?
Or any skins or game modes? A killer suggestion or game balance adjustments?

Your personal most desired thing for the game.

I'm very excited to see what the community thinks and what kind of things will pop up here.

For me it would be server-side validation / useful cheat protection. I especially hate subtle cheating and constantly questioning your own sanity. In my opinion, this is long overdue.

i'll give DRAWBACKS to iri (and styptic agent which is a purple one) addons for survivors… just like some killers have drawbacks for using those addons, the same logic should be applied for survivors too…

  • @coolgue1 said:

Man what kinda bs is this pop and pain rez legit encourage 3 genning and prox camping because it free value if they make the game a hook trade sumator and can keep then in the match for an extra 12 minutes jist for trading mabe if the perk didn't activate if the hooked and unhooked would count but yeah they won't do that because BHVR can see everything they can see how the kill rates are going down and what is causing the kill suck is the kill rate 60 because of skull or is is their because of hook trade simulator for pop pain rez value because it destroy 45% of a gen for no work at all and yeah over 75% of the community hook trades for value in almost ever pain rez game is happen killer last 2 gen first chase continues to try to hook trade for value it sounskillful and boring it game is about CHASEING not defending gens

Fist of all it's not 45% of a generator since the 20+20+5% is actually applied on the current progress of the generator and not on the total charges of the generator, not to mention that you can regress a gen until 8 times, after that you can no longer kick it or use perks that will regress said generator and secondly skull merchant need a complete rework imo since her gameplay is unhealthy for the game to say the least, but that's not the point… the point was that the devs are slowly making all the best strategies that a killer can do (camping and tunneling) not viable anymore, which could be fine IF they actually incentivized the mixed hook strategy, but unfortunately they think only to PUNISH killers instead that actually giving a reason (aka making the mixed hooks a VIABLE strategy) to play in that way…

  • @jesterkind said:

Based on what they've said and done in the past, I feel confident saying the devs understand why camping and tunnelling used to happen so frequently - and still happens, in the case of tunnelling. They happened/happen because they're easier than actually trying.

In the current state of the game, gen times are basically not a problem if you're playing actively and spreading your pressure (by which I mean, pushing multiple survivors to react to you at once, NOT patrolling generators passively). The only real exception to this is toolboxes, but even then everyone in the trial has to have one, that they've specced for repair, and probably some supporting perks, before it becomes a huge problem.

There have been some nerfs to killer things, yes, but there's also been quite a few buffs. Killer basekits get improved semi-regularly, perks get buffed semi-regularly, and then there have also been some changes to things like maps and survivor perks that further improve the killer experience.

I've never understood this idea of "devs kill every strategy killers have", I don't understand what it's even referring to. It's just camping and tunnelling that get hit with adjustments, and deservedly so. You still have the entire breadth of killer gameplay and strategy available to you.

and this is where you are wrong in my opinion: as far as i know, the best thing that actually a killer can do is to kill the 1st survivor as soon as possible, even when DS and BT are in the match… a 3vs1 is a lot more manageable than a 4vs1 and this is a fact… if you say that only camping and tunneling are punished, then explain me why i didn't see a single killer using perks like sloppy butcher and nurse calling or full aura reading/gen patrolling builds.

  • @Eleghost said:

I think most issues have been getting worse with addition of certain perks and map design. With perks there are quite a few, most aura reading perks make stealth nearly impossible for survivors. Others are slowdowns and speed up perks on both sides. Personally i don't think gen speeds should be sped up by any perk and should be sped up only if multiple people are working on the same gen. On the opposite of that things like Pop and pain res really destroy gen progress especially when paired together. Map design is not great. You have massive maps like eyrie of crows and red forest while most new/reworked maps are relatively small and have a gimmick.

Yeah, unfortunately more stuff you add into the game, more difficult It becomes to balance everything... This is another thing to put into the equation

  • You missed the point... I wasn't talking about kills and escapes, i'm talking about the gameplay... I wouldn't consider those stats in this case for a simple thing: i can do a match without hooking someone until the last gen pop and still get 2 or 3 kills cause survivors want to save at all costs their teammate or i can do a match without killing anyone but doing 8 hooks... Kills and escapes ≠ fun. Right now i'm talking about fun and interactive gameplay... As i said, there were changes that tried to punish and discourage the killer for playing in an unfun way, but at the same time they also punished those who actually want to play without resort to tunneling and camping and want to have viable strategies in order to play without using those boring and unfun tactics (like the old times when wraith could do hit and run tactics for example), this is what i criticize @Pulsar

  • I wonder why people realized this only now... This kind of BEhavior (pun intended) from the devs is going on since the changes of old ruin... Is there something wrong with being casual?

That's the majority of DBD's players. Seems fine to me that they address things that affect casuals.

i've nothing aganist casual players, but you can't balance the game around people that play this game for a total of 20 hours and cry for every thing that they consider unfair because they don0t have enough experience regarding to understand how the game works, period. (people are actually complaining about killer being unfun also for this reason)

btw saying this you are indirectly admitting that this game isn't balanced when there are regular players/people with a modicum of skill, you know?

    @Pulsar said:

And yet, I guarantee you that if the stats showed the opposite, you'd be spouting something different.

I'm fairly certain you don't like stats because they contradict your narrative.

no and you know why? because i see THE CONTEXT of the perks/items/powers, not the usage... i want to remember you that with this logic they erased the %bonus on bp from bbq, this alone GREATLY increased the number of camping and tunneling killers and they NERFED selfcare, a perk that was situational and considered bad just cause it was popular... i'll say this again for the last time: you cannot balance this game around statistics (or at least you technically can, but don't be surprised if it will become unfun in the long run) otherwise you'll end to kill this game, but eh, each one his own i guess, keep thinking that i want to belittle statistics cause they went aganist what i'm saying...

I wasn't aware CoB was losing the Good Skill check intel, and OC was losing it's bonus skillcheck. Even Pain Res is getting buffed at 6 and under hooks, and only getting nerfed at 7+ (which if you aren't winning at 7+ hooks, you got bigger problems). Only unearned regression is being nerfed, and nothing is forcing tunneling or camping other than a lack of skill on the killer's part.

The theory of MMR does work against tunneling and camping, even if you disagree with escape based MMR like myself. If someone only gets kills as Facecamping Bubba, they will get Survivor's that survive more, either by hiding or looping. They never learned how to win chases, so more people will win against them. This concept also works with using shortcuts and/or crutches to win, instead of winning without them. Now to be fair, the matchmaking is loose enough that 'top MMR' is actually the top 25% of the playerbase, instead of <.1% in other games. That means if you reach the lower end of the 'top MMR' the skill difference is the equivalent of a Platinum League player going against Challenger players, it just isn't fair.

A killer CAN'T control how the game will go... in a single chase you'll end up loosing 3 gens if survivors aren't trolling and they are working on generators and this without even putting bs maps like garden of joy, badham, lery, etc etc... even killers that are considered a+ tier aren't able to do nothing aganist people that know how to play... this is a good example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7pjrv4Fu3Y&pp=ygUZZGJkIG9uZSBzaG9ydCBjaGFzZSAzIGdlbg%3D%3D

    uh huh.

That's why they had a high usage rate right? Because they were bad.

Oh yes, Survivors definitely have the tools to counter a Overbrine 3-gen. Would be a shame if they, you know, tried to be fun and NOT bring good stuff.

Oh, also, Potential Energy is a Killer perk.

again with stats... stats are meaningless in a game like this one... for your same logic the nurse should have been buffed instead of nerfed because she had one of the lowest killrate in the game... this is how much accurate are your precious stats... it's like saying that dead hard isn't problematic because now it's took only 34% of the times... it's a blatant lie

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3397892#Comment_3397892

    Overcharge and CoB were weak?

That's why they were used to hold games hostage, right?

2 perks that can be COMPLETELY COUNTERED by pressing m1 a single time on the generator... yep, decisely OP /s ... if you feel that those 2 perks were op at this point i don't even know what to tell you... the only scenario that those 2 perks could be a problem is if you are aganist a skull merchant and the gens are really close to each other (and obviously both perks should be present in the match), otherwise those are 2 wasted slots... also i would call out map rng instead of blaming perks regarding this issue, but even then, survivors have the tools to avoid this situation (BNP with green toolboxes, hyperfocus and stake out, potential energy, etc etc)

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3397651#Comment_3397651

Likewise, the perks on the Killer-side of things are also still useable in the right circumstances.

Usable? No they aren't, not against decent people at least (maybe aganist newcomers, but in that case even a perkless trapper can still win). They were already weak before the nerf, now they are worthless

  • @Pulsar said:

POV: The DH nerf, the CoH nerf and Med-Kits nerfs are actually buffs.

    Keep coping, I guess.

You see, the perks that you have mentioned are still usable/useful, especially if you are playing in a premade, but the perk about gen defense were literally destroyed, that's the main difference (and why most killers out there are being forced to play in the same way in every match in order to have a tiny chance of killing someone)... Now the game is stucked in only a singular type of gameplay: genrush and tunneling/camping. Keep touching things that didn't need a change and devs will find their game without killers... I'm still ashtonished every time that i see people keeping asking for nerfs about the killers, but this is how dbd is after all: the bigger part of the playerbase will be listened more, even about STUPID changes that will utterly worsened the current situation...

^ this comment is correct. If you've got that use out of Pain Res that early in the match, then you're already in a very strong position. 25% regression is pretty big, and definitely a big buff from the PTB version.

at that point old pop was MUCH better because it granted that effect on the gen that YOU wanted to save, not to mention that it could be activated more than 4 times AND wasn't dependent by certain condictions that could deny the use of the perk (in the scourge hook's case the positions of said hooks, that's pure rng and most of the times will screw you badly)... Both perks incentivized a fun gameplay based on mixed hooks (meaning no camp and tunnel) and devs nerf them just because they were meta, so please, don't even try to justify unneeded nerfs, we know that devs don't even play their same game enough to understand how things works at medium/high mmr, otherwise they won't even did maps so much safe in the 1st place...

The game has almost always been nothing but unfun gameplay. It's basically an act of masochism to play this game at all. It was one of the "describe this game using only three single words" part of the survey I answered back earlier in the week. "Masochism. Grindy. Toxic." That's all this game has ever been.

I will never cease to find it amusing when someone complains about winning the game because they didn't have an easy time winning. "I had to play a bit harsher to get my 4k." So you have a competitive game. Sorry it wasn't so easy for you to steamroll that one group. If you continue to play the way you want, you won't face that kind of group as much once your MMR goes back down to where you can have more chill games.

The skill floor to killer is much lower than survivor, but the skill ceiling is much higher for survivor than it is for killer. To win most games, you just have to not make a ton of mistakes as a killer. Whereas with survivor... you have to hope the other three people you got randomly matched with are actually doing what they need to do. I can tell you that since the new survivor HUD came out, I get the proof of what I already suspected: No one is ever on a gen. Most games are me doing most of the gens myself and then dying once everyone else has thrown themselves onto the killer's hooks. If I play for 3-4 hours, I am lucky to have one, maybe two games where I get out through the gate. A few more I might find hatch. Mostly, it's just death. It has gotten to the point that I just run Head-On, Quick and Quiet, Flashbang, and Blast mine to try and annoy the killer more before I inevitably die. I don't run items, because they'll just be lost.

I have over 2400 hours in this game, and it doesn't matter because my team will either go down in seconds, or leave me to die after running the killer for 5 gens. I don't have three friends that are all good that I can make a SWF. I'm just a punching bag for the killer. It's gotten significantly worse since 6.1 and I play less and less each patch as a result.

i've 3000 hours on this game, but hours mean nothing when you can clearly see the issues of the game with less than 500 hours imo... you didn't get the point of what i'm saying dude, it's ok sweating aganist people that are actually strong/good at playing the game, but it's not normal playing in the same ######### way to get results, it's not normal sweating aganist survivors that are bad because as i said the map is literally playing aganist you every cursed time, it's not normal that you probably loose 3 gen in a SINGLE chase, there are too many things that aren't fine and all of those issues were drastically increased instead of being decreased (both sides have their problems, but at this point it's like a dog that's biting it's tail: genrush lead to tunneling/camping/slugging and vise versa... especially if the SWF feature is in the game)... i still remember dbd in 2019: there were broken things even here ngl, but the game overall was a lot more enjoyable, with more tactics available and viable and i didn't need to play in the same way everytime... even people were more chill overall and i had respect for the people that actually beat me and as survivor i had fun with the old ruin and the game was actually full of suspence and satisfaction when you escaped from someone... all this is gone now, there's nothing left, not for me at least

  • @Nihlus said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3391931#Comment_3391931

and at every other MMR, you're just ants waiting for the killer's magnifying glass to burn you. The flies waiting to have your wings torn off. Kill rates are at the highest they've ever been, even at top end. The killer playerbase will never be happy until Survivors are literally unable to do anything but die. No gens. No escapes. No hiding. Just death. That's all I ever hear on these forums.

and here is when you are COMPLETELY wrong... the killers aren't complaining about winning and/or loosing par se, but about the MISERABLE experience of the game: let just say for example that the killer wasn't able to catch someone for the entire match due to various factors (the maps that are too much safe, too many 2nd chances perks, too many broken items, SWF, etc etc) and the killer that won't be a nurse (so all the previous stuff will be impossible to counter even if the killer have godly skill levels), but it ended with a 4k because extremely stupid poor gameplay for the survivors in the end just to save one of them (for example blood warden activated), would you call it balanced? would you call it killer side because the killer did a 4k? STATS mean NOTHING in this game (wanna talk about barbecue and chili/we're gonna live forever? they failed to understand WHY they were so popular, or better, they knew that was for the extra bp reason, but they removed that feature anyway despite it incentivezed a good gameplay instead of the usual tunneling and camping... at least WGLF was buffed by giving 100% of healing speed when you must pick up someone that was downed, but that wasn't the point...), you must see how the games are played in order to balance stuff... remember that with that logic they had the courage to propose a nerf for billy's engravines (and that wasn't the 1st episode of nerfs done by stats: remember the 2 most used addons for the twins, the toy sword and the stale biscuit for example...) that was officially stopped because people complained about it (but i think that they did it on purpose to "justify" the same thing regarding heals, being too much time wasting so they soften up the nerfs done, but this is my personal thought)

regarding the survivors that are weak in the other brackets of the mmr this is partially false (i could agree regarding mindgames and experience at looping but those aren't needed when the game is literally playing aganist you): one of my matches before quitting this mess called game was with AWFULLY bad survivors and guess what? they were winning because they literally pressed w shift and throwed down all the pallets that they could find (i was playing wesker in lery)... with 1 gen remaining and only 2 hooks for that reason i started camping, tunneling and slugging... the match ended with a 4k for me at 1 gen still to do but i wasn't satisfied a bit because i would have probably lost to those survivors if i played "fair"/how the game is supposed to be played (and honestly for how much bad they were they didn't deserve it a bit) and because i was frustrated for how many dumb things they had at their disposal overall speaking, not to mention how much fast gens were and my hooks that were too few in order to get at least the satisfaction of doing a good amount of bp...

If you enjoy a game where in the future we will see only unfun gameplay for both sides that's fine, but i'm not gonna stay

Then stop playing DBD. Most Survivors who play with friends aren't good. 99% of the time, you can beat them easily. You are using SWF as an excuse.

No matter how hard you rage, BHVR has already said that it isn't cheating to use Discord or use Steam.

It's not cheating to play with friends.

It's not cheating to use Xbox Live Parties or PSN Parties.

How would you even regulate that lmao?

it's not cheating for them because they'll gain money from them, otherwise it easily could be since that "feature" will essencially nullify certain perks that killer have based on terror radious/stealth... it's a blatant fact that can't be denied that SWF have more chances to win that solo queue survivors... BEhavior on that regard have double standards when things involves money...

I played two matches today and both were marked by abhorrent bullying by the survivors, I simply couldn't bother playing any further after this.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9OABVK7J2XUR/1.jpg

The matchmaking and map design were so blatantly survivor sided that it took me four gens to secure my first hook. With no other option but to camp I kept hooktrading just to end up with a 1K anyway. It was an extremely onesided experience and to make matters worse they verbally abused me for being unable to compete against these sort of odds.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VGGBTU62YGML/2.jpg

Another unwinnable match, once again the survivors were playing like a sweat-hitsquad while I was struggling to down anyone. Circle of Healing completely nullified any damage I put out. In the end Nancy even had the audacity to ask me if I feel ashamed for losing to the survivors. It's absolutely abhorrent how survivors like these full-knowingly abuse their role to bully killer players with.

The game is extremely survivor sided in its current state and bullysquads know it damn well. They show no remorse when it comes to exploiting their busted role.

They revel in harassing and insulting the killer while a simple m1 killer player like me can do NOTHING to stop their relentless assault on my sanity. Dead by Daylight is a bully simulator and nothing else.

why are you still playing it? Do lilke i did: UNISTALL, you'll thank me later for this decision, trust me.

  • he's not completely wrong tho: many people already left the game (myself included) due to how much unfun it becomes (at least for me) since in high mmr you are essencially a clown that must entertain survivors (the only exception is the nurse) due to the absurd genspeed, maps that are even safer than before and nerfs to killers/perks that no one asked for. This is a dead game for me, they had their chances during those years to adress properly the issues of the game, but they found the way to make them even worse...

Most of my matches consist of stealthing genrushers that just hold w in chase and of course they have full blown meta perks with BNPs and all that fun stuff. I'm a Billy main that only really cares about chasing and getting some fun plays like curves. But against these survivors it's so boring. They are expressing very little skill in chase, they are no good loopers all they know is how to hold w and pre drop pallets. And the game rewards such a gameplay decision. Nobody really seems to be interested in chase anymore. They are mostly hiding and rushing gens. And I'm one of those people that run no slowdown most of the time so nothing slows them down in doing gens. So despite short chases it feels like it doesn't matter. They still slam those gens in record time because surprise surprise they all run gen builds. Barely anyone is actually interested in chase anymore and I do enjoy playing against those people. I don't have a need to win games but I also hate those types of matches. It sucks out the fun in this game. And I'm not saying "Oh this game is so survivor sided" because thats not what my post is about. But why is someone like me who never tryhards going up against people that are so desperate in winning games to the point where I have no fun anymore?

i see that you reached THAT point... there's only one way to have fun again: unistall dbd and go playing something else (this is what i'm actually doing since i'm not satisfied at all regarding the current state of the game)... you'll thank me in the future, trust me...

Killers who play for 4 hooks 4 kills are the reason why Devs can not buff Killers the strength to 12 hooks 4 kills. Buffing doesnt stop people playing the easiest way to win.

The incentivized to do Gen only is the exact problem why Altruism healing should not be 24sec. Then this balance patch is perfect for me.

I'm sure of the contrary... In high mmr survivors will just slam gens, especially when they know that they can allow themselves to do it due to the awful rng that maps usually have... For them being injured isn't a big deal as I said, especially if we must consider that adrenaline will heal you completely once all gens are done... A survivor NEED to be efficient on generators if he want to escape, heals are just an extra to get more points and feeling more safe if you must keep busy the killer or repair a generator in a exposed place with few resources available

As Trapper main who never use a single slowdown and not play for kill.

The dead of Coh and DH is the new world of fun for me as Killer.

not play for the kills... at this point killers should be called hookers (pun intended) rather than killers, anyway... since they butchered gen defense perks and make healing a waste of time (especially if sloppy butcher will stay in the actual conditions), i doubt that you'll have even the time to have some fun since people will be incentivized to do gens instead of wasting their time on healing themselves, or at least this is what i'll expect from this patch...

  • Update: i've finally made my final decision, this sunday will be the last time that i'll play dbd (i'll consider it as a last farewell), no more breaks, no more comebacks (i gave already too many chances, now my patience ran out). The game isn't fun anymore for me and it's all about toxicity, broken stuff and exploits, add also the fact that overall speaking the devs are COMPLETELY unaware how their game works (for example just the fact that they NERFED hillbilly another time instead of trying to resolve the real issues prove this once more)... i'm sorry to have invested (read wasted) my money on this game because i believed that despite all the issues and the toxicity it could be improved over the time, but i was wrong

Well to be fair, when people normally talk about reworks in this game, they usually mean nerfs.

(See discussions about killer stuff, especially top killers lol)

People should stop thinking that those are the same things:

rework is when you COMPLETELY change something from what was previously (old freddy vs new freddy for example), while nerfs are decreasing the effectiveness of said killer/perk/item/addon

  • The problem is that this perk needed A COMPLETE REWORK, not a nerf.

Even nerfed this perk maintain all the issues that this perk could bring.

So no, i'm not satysfied at all by this nerf since this perk should have never been existed in the 1st place

  • As a expert killer allows me to give THE (probably the best) suggestion: don't play dbd if you want to have fun. Nowadays is pointless trying to find fun here unless you like tryharding and using the best stuff in the game in order to have some chances...

Thanataphobia will counter the: "i never heal and just gen rush" that top tier survivors will do.

There is also still gen blocking perks like corrupt, deadlock.

Without realizing that you have various perks such as resilience for example that will almost deny entirely the effectiviness of that perk (not to mention that you need to injure EVERYONE to gain the full effect from it, forcing you to waste time to seaching everyone and hitting them, in the meantime gens will still fly...). Please, thanato is a dead perk that it could barely work only with plague and sometimes legion (good survivors will spread while doing generators, making your FF only a tool for better mobility and for tracking the other survivors if they are in close proximity)... the new meta (always has been tho, but it will be even more common than now) will be tunneling the 1st survivor that you'll see from the beginnning (in that way you don'y have to deal with possible dead hard in game), hit and run tactics aren't viable in high mmr because people will rush gens even when injured (what's the problem, after all adrenaline will heal you completely once all gens are done)

  • @Caiman said:

From what I've seen, "skill issue" gets thrown around often to discredit a lot of criticism and complaints. Someone doesn't like something in the game? Call them bad, then nothing they say is valid.

This. This is the kind of attitude that i DESPITE: those are often the same people that in the game will bm the other players in the endchat no matter what will happen. They want to dismiss valid criticism and try to discredit good reasoning with a STUPID sentence that doesn't bring anything positive/constructive

  • @SilentShepherd said:

And I say this as someone who owns every single Chapter DLC, every survivor, every killer in the game.

At least BHVR is trying to make the game better. There are other games out there, with their devs that simply let their game die and they don't care, no updates, etc. BHVR actually does care about Dead By Daylight.

    I'm not saying don't complain.

Complain your hearts out. But at least support them, so they have the money to fix stuff and make the game better

"bhvr actually does care about dbd" i stopped reading at this phrase...

There's NO WAY that they care about this game and what they did during those years proved it: between extremely slow changes (how much time before they nerfed mori, dead hard, keys, etc etc despite the community complained to no end regarding those things... even with the map offerings rn you can see the same issue and those are still unadressed) and bad ones i might add, questionable decisions (a couple of examples: how they treat the release/sell of certain cosmetics, when they released for free dbd on epic games store so in that way cheaters had free accounts to use and when they did the NFT thing with pinhead), stupid sentences ("we did a pretty good job" "dbd is like hockey" "idk why freddy is overpowered, i just know that he is") and a USELESS report system that they don't even care to watch (how many reports i did of people cheating or writing death threads/slurs just to see the SAME MESSAGE everytime and those people still playing the game like nothing happened)

nowdays games have issues i won't deny that, but dbd is the only game that don't even try to improve overall speaking (even by adding more game modes for example)

The new meta for killer will be CI and healing slowdown. If you try and push gens injured vs a killer like wraith you are going to get heavily punished. Killers that are not stealth will run perks to punish players for not healing, aka stealth perks. The way you play vs stealth is to heal before you get on gens. One perk for slowing healing down and one perk to punish players for not healing is looking to be the clear direction for killer builds.

Tunneling will also not be a good idea next patch. SB+ OTR is the survivor meta perk combo and I straight up see killers lose games when trying to tunnel into it. I doubt we see much DH next patch since hit n run will be high and SB is the only perk that helps avoid the first hit vs those killers.

Hmmm... I still have a REALLY bad feeling over those changes and what will happen... I hope to be wrong...

There aren't as many killer complaints because they know they got the sweeter deal. It's why every post I see of yours insists that feedback on this update should be ignored and the changes should go through as is. You're clearly not bothered about the gen regression nerfs because you know the anti-healing meta is going to be even better. It's okay though. Because I, as a solo survivor, know you are correct.

I think that we will see people playing more safe and more genrush/tunneling than hit and run tactics with sloppy Butcher since now you don't have any kind of worthy gen regression perks available and survivors still have adrenaline that will reward their zealous to do generators (as concequences more toolboxes)

  • @Trollinmon said:

Next patch incentivizes going for multiple chases thanks to the healing changes . Dead by healing

Oh yea I saw something about that. The thing is when I get hard game after hard game I'll watch someone like Scottjund and see him also having hard games. I really don't think that is why games look easy for good players. I'll post a hens333 video at the bottom of him talking quicky about mmr.

Dead by healing. Getting hits and running perks that punish players for not healing is da wae next patch.

I find info perks to make the game more chill since it lets you turn off brain and go for chases. Why having to mentally keep track of things when a perk will allow you to just chill and focus on the chases. To each their own tho.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHk8IcjjSXE

technically it should, but it won't for a couple of simple reasons: adrenaline will heal you once all gens are done (this won't be a big deal to achieve with the actual genspeed and all the gen regression perks being essencially nuked, especially now that survivors will be more incentivized to bring toolboxes with them rather than medkits) and dead hard is still in the game IF you choose to play for mixed hooks, so we would probably see tunneling increased by a lot for those 2 reasons (as concequence genrush too... it's like a dog that will keep biting its tail). Either way the way that dbd is taking doesn't seems promising at all (at least for me)

  • @Peanits said:

If you only buff weaker perks, you end up with power creep. Each perk needs to be better than the last in order to dethrone the meta, and so over time perks would become stronger and stronger. Eventually you'd reach a point where perks are ridiculously strong and have far too much impact on a match, making skillful play less important than the perks you brought.

Even beyond that, this simply is not feasible. There's 228 perks in the game. Even if we assume that 50 are in a really good spot (already meta in this case) and don't need any changes whatsoever, that's over 170 perk updates that need to be done just to balance things.

Instead, we do a bit of both. Most perks are already in a decent spot and see a good amount of use, but there's a few outliers that either don't get used enough or are used way too much. Bringing the top few down and some of the bottom few up is a lot more manageable. You pretty much answered yourself with your example. With Dead Hard being weaker, suddenly there's a lot more reason to bust out Lithe, Sprint Burst, or another exhaustion perk instead.

too late, we already reached that point... the game become unfun because as killer you'll be ALWAYS punished for any kind of strategy you can field (wanna play for mixed hooks? you don't have the time due to the atrocious genspeed and the gen regression being NUKED by the devs cause muh statistics. wanna tunnel? DS, off the records, dead hard, boons (shadowstep and CoH, but at least the latter will be nerfed properly), lucky break, bodyblock, flashilights, pallets and adrenaline will make your game miserable, not to mention the possible anti hemorrage syringe and styptic agent that the survivors can bring into the match. wanna camp (mainly to force the struggle phase for a survivor hooked previously)? reassurance and kinship. wanna slug? unbrekable. Mind you that i don't even mentioned into the equation the ATROCIOUS maps in the game: the reworked maps are even WORSE than they were previously and the last one added (decimated borgo) it's NOT PLAYABLE AS KILLER unless you are a nurse.

as SOLO survivor instead you have to deal with tunneling and camping every cursed game, forcing you to use the same plethora of perks if you want to even play the match (i won't consider SWF because it's essencially the ultra easy mode)

as far as i know you aren't adressing the REASONS of certain data (pickrate) and playstyles (genrush, tunneling and camping), you are balancing the game only around statistics, which is UNHEALTHY and a bad decision overall, add then the fact that with the last choices that you want to implement (basekit unbrekable, longer time needed in order to perform heals and the few gen regression perks becoming completely useless) you'll make this game essencially a tunnel/genrush fest (even more than now) and you have the picture of an unfun, "competitive" /s, boring and frustrating game...

If you are looking to chill why wouldn't you run PR? Such a good perk that is very good in helping you go for 12 hook games. The meta right now is cob and camping a 3 gen.

While that very much is true I'm just giving an example of a good player trying in their games and their opinion on the current state of the game. The point is that good streamers are always winning their games while not needing to camp or tunnel and Hexy is one that actually sweats really hard on low tier killers and wins every game. Tried looking for what you said about this in the thread but couldn't, so if you can say it again about streamer mmr I would be able to comment on it.

So as a player that goes for 12 hook games at soft cap I found DL to be straight up trash. You try and get good tempo and the perk literally does nothing when you succeed. The only value you get from it is if you are losing the game, but survivors teams that are good will counter it by keeping on gen high and having the DL procs go on that. The perk in my opinion is only good if you are camping. If you are trying to play chill why bring a perk like that?

It's not worth running on Wesker for some tiles where you have to play as a m1 killer. Bbq and Lethal are better perks for that slot as you get that fast chase in the early game and bbq for when you get hooks. Would even rather run brutal+ enduring as an aggressive build. Brutal is actually good on Wesker because you can actually hit the last breakpoint where you can hit the survivor before they get to the next tile thanks to his power.

1 well, PR will be nefed the next patch, essencially incentivizing tunneling and camping over defending gens and going for mixed hooks so... i think that this won't be possible anymore (remember that the hooks are also rng, this is the main reason why i found them unreliable)

2 my bad, that comment was made in another thread, here's the link https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3378550#Comment_3378550

3 honestly there aren't good regression perks left, the only one is jolt but even then you can activate it only with a basic attack and in a limited range so now we have the situation that i described in the 1st point

4 tracking perks aren't a priority for me since i can easily guess where survivors will go to do gens/heals generally speaking, i'd rather go for perks that help me in chases (personal opinion here eh)

1 2 3 4 5 … 29
