I disagree. There are many different animation locks that you can get a flashlight save from.

    Here's a few:

    • Locker saves
    • Gen grab saves
    • Slow/medium vault saves
    • Pallet grab saves
    • Hook grab saves

The thing is they all require a lot of skill to pull off. The timing needs to be so precise that I don't see any reason why it should ever be touched.

I see all of these as a "fair play, this player is extremely skilled". Same way I see a good Billy/Nurse player.

I know all of them. You dont need to drop so much knowledge. I have over 2000 hours. From what i saw, the locker grab animation is longer. Like i said i personally have no experience with it. Would you say you its the same difficulty?

  • Yh i guess they cant make it faster bc it would be too strong in a chase. Maybe it would have been better to make it really fast and the clown cannot attack.

But who knows, lets wait until we have more experience with the new clown.

  • @CashelP14 said:

You could bring Iron Maidon if your not feeling Lightborn or Franklin's.

I would consider myself very consistent with flashlights and even I'm not 100% certain on the locker timings yet. Certain killers also can't be locker blinded.

Yh you are right and i know that. But let me phrase it differently: for which reason should this tech stay in the game? Its ok when it has no high priority, but its something what should be removed someday.

  • @Avarice10 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1928813#Comment_1928813

The CJ tech has counters, and the flashlight is designed to empower survivors to rescue people from the killer. A killer cannot counter any flashlight blind because they're locked in a animation, be it picking up the survivor or grabbing them from a locker, should the killer grab a person while knowing or suspecting a survivor is waiting nearby for the flashlight save, and they time it perfectly in the animation, then the killer deserves to eat the blind tbh.

Thats exactly what i said. Do you even read my reply?

Again for you: i said the CJ-tech is fine, bc it has counters. The locker tech has not.

The problem is that the timing is easier with the locker bc its a longer animation. And you cant slug. So there is a difference to other flashlight safes. And the double locker has no counter at all.

I dont want to be rude, but please read my post before replying.

  • @Avarice10 said:

Don't open a locker if you know there is a person with a flashlight nearby.

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me"

You could make this point when it would be for example the cj-tech. But in this case its a lose-lose-situation. Even when the killer knows whats happening he cant do anything against it, right? He could search for the other survivor, but there are some problems with it. And what should a killer do against a double locker?

  • @chadbeastofprey said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1928660#Comment_1928660

"When two lockers are next to each other, two survivor can wait in the locker and safe the other survivor in time when he gets grabbed. No risk involved." "So two survivor can waste enough time to lose every gen or are invincible. When you ignore them, they start doing gens and with sprintboost or when they are healthy they reach almost every time a locker."

i was assuming this happened to you because it's very specific.

    it's a bhvr solution.

I gave that example. And while its specific, it didnt happen to me. I only saw a video. To be honest this tech was never used against me in any way. I only thought its better to bring it to the devs attention or maybe someone has a counter and tells me.

  • Its normal for me to do 3 gens. So when i get teammates who have the same problem, the match is over really quick.

Sometimes i think i should just let the killer chase me first bc 12 gens alone in 5 matches make me crazy.

That's just you bad at killing survivors. Git gud good sir.

If the survivor escaped via hatch key the killer did not "play super well."

That you actually think so tells me a lot about your actual skill level and your standards of what "super well" is.

I wouldnt say the killer didnt play super well. (Most of the time the killer didnt, but even if he was it doesnt matter)

The problem here is that it doesnt matter when survivor do many mistakes. It only matters when one of the mistakes of the survivor is to not do gens. But if they do gens, they can make many mistakes in chase and still have enough time to do gens. (For sure it depends on killer, map etc)

Keys are not a free escape, but an unnecessary strong buff for a match.

  • Keys really dont get used often. For a key use you need a fair match.

When the killer is too strong, they will not get 3 gens done and the last two get slugged.

When the survivor are too strong they do the exit gates.

Keys are only effective used when both sides could win the match. And thats the problem. Who cares for matches which are decided from the start anyway? Keys ruin the fair matches, so for me the interesting and fun ones.

  • He should be still the quitest. Atleast i saw a video released with this info two weeks ago.

I main Ace, but i play with Iron will 24/7.

I just got back into dbd and stopped before right after Legion came out so about 2 years ago.

Before I played doctor, hillbilly, clown, leatherface, and Myers.

I just got back in this week but have been playing pyramid head and leatherface but want to play as others.

Feel free to throw out suggestions.

Also, I've seen lots of people reference m1killers and I'm not at all familiar with the meaning. What is that/what are other killer categories?

M1 means basic attack. So M1-killer are killer which can only use basic attacks to down survivor. For example leatherface has his chainsaw, so he is not a m1-killer.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

We will never know if it will or won't effect the killers or survivors MMR, although I do agree with you that it shouldn't effect the killers MMR while it should effect the survivors.

They will for sure not tell us everything about the MMR-system, but they will show us some things. To clarify this wouldnt make it abusable.

  • So i see here many people who run no ds. So i want to give some input, bc i use ds almost every match on red rank.

The changes dont affect me. So i will still use DS after the change. I use ds bc i dont want to be tunneled or farmed from my teammates. When i do other actions, i dont need ds anymore.

I feel generally, it's really good. However, the healing seems sketchy.

Honestly, it should be only healing yourself.

Just: It's a stealth killer, you wait a sec to decide if you want them to heal you to wait if they come.

Sneaky sneak Ghosty is just watching from a distance waiting for you to heal a bit. Then he strikes.

When another survivor heals you, it doesnt deactivate.

  • Good question. Sadly i never had a killer release, where i knew in the first match this will be my new main. And new survivor dont even need to try. I will always play Ace.

Maybe the plague chapter bc i like the perks.

  • I dont think they have any reason for it. When they have a great perk idea they can add it with the next chapter.

Other then that new perks are just additional workload with no benefit for the company.

And they have many perks which could need some work, so old perks have a higher priority.

    Bbbbbbttttt.

The problem with this game is that the killers are getting too complex with too many powers and some of them are overtuned like Freddy.

Myers is great because he is super simple but has so many ways to build him and he is fun to play and fun to play against!

Don't touch Myers and don't screw with his add-ons.

I disagree. Myers is fun, but there are some things which makes him frustrating. So he needs something for that. Mainly to reach EW2 faster. Some maps, spine chill and good survivor let you waste too much time. And grabbing a survivor from a gen with dedicated servers is a joke. So most of the time i just want to reach EW2 fast and its not possible.

Dont get me wrong i have normally fun with myers, but when survivor spread out at the start and are not clueless, its a hard early game.

  • @Lexilogo said:

Myers doesn't need a fundamental rework. Frankly, I think his simplicity is his strength, especially in terms of fun factor.

In terms of rebalancing, all he really needs IMO are changes to Evil Within 1 to potentially make it easier to escape when against skilled Survivors. That could also be accomplished through addons (such as maybe allowing Boyfriend's Memo to reduce the cost of escaping EW1 by 1/5 total evil "points")

In terms of addons, Tombstone Piece is absolutely overpowered- Judith's Tombstone is much tamer and doesn't really need major overhauls. Scratched Mirror absolutely isn't overpowered whatsoever, but Vanity Mirror is definitely lackluster in comparison to it. Most of his Stalking addons also need a value reassessment.

However, I think there's a lot of room for great ideas for Myers addons to replace some of the worse ones- I'd suggest an addon that dramatically increases Stalk drain speed against any Survivor you're viewing through a vaultable window.

Reaching EW2 needs a buff without addons. When you use the faster stalk addons it is fixed, but myers shouldnt rely on addons for this problem.

Console killers are, somehow, extremely bad. It’s a blanket thing. I’ve faced so many rank 1 console killers that are just.... awful. When they manage to eventually get a hook they stand there and hit the body over and over. It’s funny watching them get their first and last hook of the game every time. You can tell immediately when it’s a console killer vs pc killer. Love to get them free bold points. Makes up for the lack of altruism while playing against them

The problem is that most competitive console killer turn crossplay off, bc they dont like that they have a hardware disadvantage.

So while there are more bad killer anyway, you wont see the good ones with crossplay.

  • @Shirokinukatsukami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/224596/leather-face-ain-t-it

Leatherface is a little overtuned right now. The only thing that mitigates this, is that he still has a crucial weakness you can exploit: he doesn't have much mobility.

But his short range lethality is unparalleled. The only one who is comparable is Oni, but Oni is a lot more broken because Oni also has high mobility to go with it.

LF is still weaker than Oni overall but he is far, far too powerful in close range.

His short range lethality is strong. But isnt that the same as his chase potential? I would say spirit and nurse have more short range lethality bc they can play around pallets. Thats stronger then a instadown which cant ignore loops. I would say bubba is the best to take advantage of mistakes from a survivor in a chase.

  • There is no really a good way to deal with that. I guess with 20 minutes you can report them afterward for holding the game hostage, but i dont know how effective this is. And it doesnt help you finish the match.

Again, your a killer main clearly. In what way is this perk worth using anymore unless you want to be unproductive for the whole 60 seconds its activated.

You should use the perk when you get tunneled aka when the killer is chasing you after you got unhooked. Yes, when the killer decides to not chase you, the perk is useless. So is unbreakable when the killer doesnt slug. Or sloppy when the survivor doesnt heal. There are a lot of perks like that.

But im happy to waste one perk slot when the killer doesnt tunnel. I use decisive in almost every game and only for this reason. To prevent tunneling.

  • @Orionbash said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1919219#Comment_1919219

The, "x needs to do this" argument is the dumbest thing ever. If that's the case, survivors need to survive so DS should cause the killer to be stunned for 20 seconds. See how dumb that sounds? Tapping a gen isn't working on a generator. It should be changed to something like, "performing x action for x amount of seconds" should deactivate DS. This way a survivor has a bit of leeway if someone is hooked as the survivor with DS is unhooked and the killer decides to come back and tunnel so they're not screwed out of their DS by thinking they were safe for a moment.

That makes no sense. What i said is that a perk shouldnt force a lose-lose situation. Stopping gens from regressing is really important, so you shouldnt be invincible while you do it.

When you want to be healthy, then let the unhooker heal you fully. After that you dont need ds anymore and you can continue to play the game. (Unhooking, healing, gens etc)

  • Im a decent survivor. When i reach a loop after getting unhooked, i can loop many killer til ds expired. (Not against killer who ignore loops)

I need ds when there is no loop near and i get instantly downed. When i get instantly downed there would be no difference with this change.

Does it make a difference, when i waste 60 seconds with a chase or when i get downed and the killer needs to slug me for 60 seconds? When im on deadhook i use a locker to force the ds anyway.

I think while it would be partly a good buff, there would be too many problems.

    1. A survivor could try to start a chase so the timer is paused and harrass the killer.

    2. A killer could moonwalk or look at the ground to not start a chase.

    3. DS is a bigger problem in endgame scenarios.

  • @Orionbash said:

Its because the devs are notoriously killer-sided and whined and whined until the devs gave survivors another nerf. While this doesn't affect me too much as I don't often run DS unless its been tunnel city all day, I worry for weaker players that use it regularly to avoid being taken out of the game quickly.

There's also loads of problems with the new DS and the definitions aren't defined. What does "healing" mean? If a killer hooks another survivor shortly after you get unhooked and you start to heal, but the killer comes back to tunnel, is your DS now deactivated even though you didn't finish the heal? If the killer pops your gen near your hook and you tap it so it doesn't regress even further while deciding whether or not to wait for DS to run out, is that going to cause DS to deactivate? If a teammate heals you for a second (Even though you don't want them to) does that deactivate DS?

It seems like this nerf to DS isn't going to be noticeable against camping killers who choose to tunnel, but will be abused by killers who proxy or just run back to the hook to tunnel. Hell, we could even look at a new type of tunneling called, "bait tunneling" where the killer makes the survivor think he's not going to come for them so they tap a gen or start to heal or something and then immediately the killer runs back to tunnel the survivor whose DS is now expired.

It just wasn't thought about from all angles and was just another way to appease the ever increasingly whiney killer main crowd who refuse to get decent at the game and instead just want nerfs.

When another player heals you, Ds is still active.

Tapping a gen is your decision. The killer needs to regress gens, when you work against it, you cant be invincible. The killer needs to have a option to stop you.

  • @Crypticghoul said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1917146#Comment_1917146

Imo, people would switch it out for the reason they don't run many other situational perks: it might become too niche with all the deactivation conditions (though the point of DS is that you hope the killer plays in a way in which you don't have to use it) and may just become Borrowed Time but for yourself, which is overkill if the person that unhooks you has BT.

Not saying that I disagree with the changes or that it will be a weak perk not worth using but I like being efficient with my time in game and having to just run around for a bit injured and not doing anything to see if the killer wants to tunnel or not makes it less appealing to me.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1917203#Comment_1917203

I don't see how this would be any different from currently though if they make the radius 32 meters.

I happily waste a perk slot when the killer decides not to tunnel me. New ds would still be a free escape in the endgame, too.

When the killer gives me enough time to start a gen and then chases me, its not tunneling.

Distortion makes the perk worthless because now you're not getting information out of it because the killer can't see you're aura, it's just wasting a perk. Lockers are too inconsistent and it is not worth it to stop every 30 seconds to not be seen. If it was activateable, then it wouldn't be nearly as bad because you can actually control when you want to see the killer. I'm not saying OoO is a stealthy perk, but being forced to have your aura revealed is not a good change; original OoO you just had to look away if the situation was bad for the aura reveal. It also still doesn't cover how it now will no longer synergize with perks at all anymore, you'd literally be better off vaulting something over and over to tell the killer where you are with Spine Chill rather than run this perk.

When you do a gen you can hide behind it every 30 seconds. You would need to know the direction of the killer, but its not a big deal.

You cant give the 30sec effect to every survivor. 4 survivor could coordinate to monitor the killer almost the entire time.

This object of obsession can show you every perk and addon the killer uses to track you with aura. Its a good information perk.

  • No the issue was that the survivor could make progress and the killer couldnt. (Bc they could do gens but the killer couldnt hook)

I run ds bc i dont want to be tunneled. When im doing gens, unhooking etc its my choice. Then i cant complain when the killer hooks me again.

  • It would be a good change. But i dont understand why anybody will switch out ds. Im running ds since the old rework and this new rework doesnt affect me in the slightest.

Spare me. I’m obviously not referring to people who tried to bring up constructive criticisms.

But plenty of killer mains who have spent all this time calling the devs “useless” “incompetent”, “stupid”, etc. are now suddenly professing their love for them and how great they are.

The hypocrisy is ridiculous, and hopefully next time something they don’t like happens, they remember this, and remember that the devs DO care about their side.

People will always complain. Its not nice but sinking to their level and calling them toddlers, will not improve that. It probably makes this survivor/killer thing worse.

Yea I agree with Tictac why that's not the problem with him the problem is his chainsaw the fact he can basically insta-down you and the fact he gets that speed increase really makes it feel sucky to vs him then he walks really close to a wall and the chainsaw hits it but no tantrum but he hits you no problem with a pallet or window vault

I just want to clarify that i think bubba is fine. I have no problems against him. He is a good chaser and destroy pallets quickly, but thats all he has. He cannot move around the map quickly and even weak pallets can stop his power.

  • @Ryan489x said:

The only restriction I don't like is the unhooking one. It doesn't advance your objective so it shouldn't be there. the healing one has the same argument. but it's a bit different since it can be done anywhere unhooks are in the open most of the time.

The unhooking one is a big problem. Its damn frustrating when you have two downs (so you played well) and while you hook the second person the first ones get unhooked and runs straight to you with BT and DS and unhooks in your face.

    Thank you.

Looks like games as trapper against new object will be actually playable again, this is fantastic news. You can just...place traps right after object lights up.

My only concern comes from if like....a SWF. If multiple people, with comms, take this perk- they will be able to always know where you are. You can't play around it every 30 seconds if it's going off every like 10 seconds to someone.

No the 30 seconds effects works only on the obsession. So you dont need to worry about 4 objects.

The math on camping, i.e. the time resources show that if you get a Face Camper, and the others just do Generators that statistically three of them should escape. The problem with the Cannibal isn't camping but rather that he is too fast. :) They slow him down when he throws his tantrum, but he is a 115% the rest of the time, and isn't going to throw that tantrum until he is already on top of you which makes the offset the created entirely useless. I've always thought he should be a 110% Killer normally. Thus, Billy is the fast chainsaw maniac but has rough steering, and Leatherface is the slightly slower chainsaw maniac with great control.

Of course all that is a tangent. Camping is just a tactic and some Killers are better at it than others. Leatherface is good at it because the Tantrum is so effective; that's it.

The cannibal is not too fast. He would be a joke when he had 110% movement speed. You need to use pallets and windows. He will destroy pallets fast, but you should have enough pallets and windows.

Seems like they are at least learning the chase and down portion of killers. It's understandable that some players don't like walking away to Grant a risk free save. Maybe they are counting on brave teammates to capitalize on or they'd rather take survivors out one by one. It gives a majority of survivors a chance to learn that avoiding the killer is vital, practice the most important chase, learn without perks that make mistakes acceptable, and if the team does gens even camping can't guarantee a kill. Camping is not an issue once survivors understand how time is in there favor, granted they do have to learn it. Being first downed is a survivor failure just as much a killer's success.

That would be true, but i dont think they really learn to chase. They get the down bc the survivor is bad. Sometimes they need half the game for it. I wrote this post bc of a match. In this match a rank 10 hag needed 2-3 minutes to down a rank 16 bc she refused to use traps. It wasnt even a strong map for survivor. And the second down was bc the yellow rank claudette tried to open an exit gate in a deadzone against noed.

  • That makes it worse for killer. The killer would lose more control bc he would get teleported. Killer would need to slug more. It could be so easily abused from the survivors.

  • @LeleLP said:

How is there "no way for them to detect if people are together"? I think the only reason they dont show it is bc too many killer would dodge.

  • @Rydog said:

Camping is too strong in general, because killers can camp like crazy and still pip, etc.

Even on a team that diligently does gens while someone is getting facecamped by an Insidious Cannibal or whatever, that player is still gonna die before you get all the gens done, and the killer is going to move on to the next player. Maybe 1-2 survivors wind up getting out at the complete expense of everyone else, but that's a pretty ruinous experience for a large percentage of the players in the match. That's a high cost to pay -- everyone ends up frustrated at the end (I certainly do... whether I'm one of the camped ones or not), and the killer will probably think "well I pipped lol" like half the time anyway. And the other half doesn't care, and just wanted to intentionally play in a way that made everyone angry, which to me really ought to be a punishable offense in some way. It is the very definition of "unsportsmanlike conduct," yet they toss out any reports about this behavior pattern.

It's a garbage dynamic that is a net negative experience for most of the people who were in that match, even when survivors are applying the optimal "just do gens" 'solution.'

I have not tested it but i dont think you pip, atleast at red rank, with camping.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

    @Tizzle

Not saying camping is a great tactic as it is unproductive for most of a match, but there are instances where the killer is left securing a kill. It's up to the survivor to avoid the 1 hook scenario and teammates to work around a killer for the save. First thing every survivor should learn is killers are unpredictable and your 3 hooks aren't mandatory, respect the killer's presence and avoid unpleasant outcomes.

Of course camping has its uses. But this is about straight up camping someone to the death from the beginning. A decision which should result in losing a lot of gens. But against bad players it results in an easy win. Thats bad bc the killer has no need to learn the game and can do nothing against players, who know how to counter camping.

As far as giving up goes. I tried until the last gen popped. First game i did blink around getting timings and stuff down. As far as basement, i was going for someone and Didnt feel lile i should have blinked down at all. EGC was going on. So i just stayed there.

Lets be clear. I started the game playing old freddy and old leatherface. I considered myself a killer main. Never got past rank 7. That was before crossplay.

Im not the best player by far. Dont play nearly enough. 2 to 3 games every day or so.

Nurse is a challenge. I challenged myself to learn console huntress and can hold my own against those of my rank/skill level. Challenged myself at nurse just so i can do daily challenges.

Its good when you want a challenge. When you have fun with it in the long run, then do it. But it seems like you have no fun.

So basically you're saying to tunnel the weakest link in that game and make them have a terrible game as well? So now there is 2 of us in that lobby having terrible games. Wow! Great advice.

I'm going to put this simply.

Enable cross play - Bad matches because PC can do amazing stuff compared to a console user.

Disable cross play - bad matches because ps is just full of swf lobbies.

If I was on the PC right now and not a PlayStation, I'd be 10 x better than what I'm right now. I didn't buy a PS5 because I don't think the console is good enough for what I want to play.

Yes, I could have bought one. I can even afford a gaming PC right now, there just isn't any GPU's out there at RRP.

Oh you are on Ps4, too. I play ps4 over 2 years at red ranks (killer and survivor) and mostly without crossplay as killer bc i have problems with 360. I have a five year old standard ps4, so i certainly play with the worst hardware.

And i play all killer (bad nurse and blight) and win most of the time (atleast 80% winrate, probably higher).

Most of the time there are atleast 3 weak links for me, so i dont need to tunnel. And when its really a good team without holding back, i dont need to hold back either.

But i can mostly dominate anyway bc the survivor are bad. And when survivor lose they are less toxic. I had a hard time at the start and disabled messages. When i got better, most stopped being toxic. But when i play nurse, suddenly most of them are toxic again.

So i put it simple, you can get better.

There are times when sarcasm is difficult to see when written in text format. This wasn’t one of those times

It seems obvious but i wouldnt bet something on it. He could just said in the last sentence just joking and it would have had the same effect. But he didnt. Sure it could be a troll and i wouldnt never say i believe its serious, but i have seen things on this forum, where people said something similar.

It's actually more fun to face camp than to run around and get a kill.

When it is fun for you, then do it. But when you mean, that its only more fun then to run around, and both things are not much fun, then you should stop playing the game.

If the game wasn't unbalanced. Why is there a survivor who is able to run a killer for 3 gens in the first place? Why is that survivor in with that killer?

if we're getting matchmaking like that. We are going to face camp.

As I write this. I've lobby dodged about 5+ lobbies as the killer because as all it's giving me is unbalanced lobbies. P3 survivors. Flashlights, Tool boxes, keys, bought clothes, SWF lobbies. I know for a fact that's going to be an unbalanced match where I'm probably going to have to face camp the hook. I really don't have the time for a gen rushing, t bagging, flashlight swf lobbies. It's easier not to ready up.

I was about to ready up and a flash light comes on a survivor, lobby dodged again.

I said search for the weak link. Dont get me wrong, when there is no weak link then you gonna lose with most of the killer. But that happens almost never. Bc most survivor are not good. Thats the reason why the killrates are so high. But that does mean that when you are a good killer you can beat most survivor, too. So you can get better, its far from impossible to beat 90% of red ranks.

I heard its different when you play pc without crossplay. But nothing is stopping you from enabling crossplay.

  • That you are waiting in the basement for the egc to end, tells me that you are too easily frustrated. It makes no sense for you to do this. I learn nurse as a rank 1 killer. I get many red ranks and so i have no chance to win. But i dont care. When the exit gates are open and they can 100% escape, bc i need to hit them twice, i still practice my blinks. When you cant handle their toxity, its just torture to learn nurse.
