I agree with most of the reasons in this thread. The one, however, that I don't agree with is "Well I had a challenge/quest to complete."
No, no, no. You can complete that one next trial. Don't be selfish.
I can understand this. Sometimes you have a bad day and just want to have the challenge done. You never know when you get this far again with randoms.
And im the guy who normally doesnt care. I try to save against a camping myers with instadown when im alone. Without bt. I die so many times bc of it, but when it works it feels great. And nobody expects a random teammate to do it. They are really grateful.
I dont expect others to do it but for me its more fun then to escape.

I'm sure there are a lot of rules that the OP forgot to mention, especially things like win condition. I also agree about object but other than that I think there's more than enough evidence to support that this is a pretty balanced ruleset. Also Otzdarva goes against all PC players with keys all the time and wins indicating SWF
I watch Otzdarva a long time and i know how winstreaks go. He plays against really weak player most of the time and is good enough to beat decent teams too. But against high level teams he has no chance except with spirit and hag. (He is not the best nurse) He did play a tournament and was good, but against this players he would never dare to try for example trapper. Even with addons.
Tournaments squads are not strong bc of swf, they are strong bc they are 4 good player and have no weak link.
-
There are other tournaments with a far better ruleset.
This rules ignore that the rarity has nothing to do how strong an addon can be. For example onis best addon is green. Other killer could play with all their addons and it wouldnt be a problem.
Knowing that swf is a problem and not banning object is bs.
Is there no item rarity restriction? Or that you can use every item once? Otherwise everyone will bring medkits and maybe one iridescent map for totems. (Useless hex builds then)
Killer ban is really unfair. That tournament is technically highlevel. A player needs many hours to master a killer. And then its wasted bc the other team knows the main of the killer and bans him. Another tournament had the one time pick rule. When you use a killer in the quarter finals you cant use it next round. So you still see different killer. Its better then banning bc the survivor cant decide which killer will played when.
-
@gendoss said:
I feel like those rules are very fair. Content creators like Otzdarva has proved that you can win with killer 50 times in a row with no add-ons at all. That may be unrealistic to the average player but if this is the championships it should be played by the best of the best. I don't think the maximum potential has been reached by very many players but to those who have something like this should seem balanced.
That is just not true. Otzdarva wins 50 times in a row bc he plays against bad survivor. So this is useless information for a tournament.

Why did I leave a teammate behind?
Let's see.
- You teabagged the Killer and I want you to get what you deserve and I am not down with Survivor BM.
- You were a moron that got me hurt at least once.
- You failed a basic skill check on a generator I was working on.
- You wasted half the pallets in the game on one chase.
- You brought a Key.
- You wasted precious game time Self-Caring in the corner while the rest of us were playing the game.
- You did nothing to help me when I was on the hook and another teammate had to come get me.
How many reasons do you need, exactly?
How many reasons do you have exactly?

From my experience slugging is a proper tool that you need to learn when and how to use. Also understand that some killers stand no chance in certain situations balance-wise. It's not on you, it's on the game. That's a sad statement and yet is true.
There are hints that devs might start prioritizing high level balance soon. It appears they are aiming towards pushing dbd into the competitive scene. We'll need to wait. But there is hope you'll finally be able to compete using your favorite killer purely relying on your own skill. That's not a thing nowadays. You just need to accept it.
Which hints?

If the killer is facecamping and there's no-one else there to take a hit, then there's no point trying to unhook. That's just giving the killer a free kill.
I know. Like i said its ok. But it doesnt hurt to look whether the killer is facecamping or not.
-
You did nothing wrong. Its no fun for the hooked person, but do you lose in other games so the other players have fun?
Camping is only a problem when its unnecessary or detrimental for your win. And about unnecessary you can argue.
-
BBQ is only good at some killer. But all killer run it bc they need bloodpoints.
So most of the time one slot is reserved for BBQ. + the best combo ruin/undying/tinkerer.
Surveillance has synergy with ruin, but one big problem. You need to work for it. When you are winning, survivor has no chance bc they cant start a gen without you noticing. When you are losing some gens are done before surveillance triggers once.
Sure you could play tinkerer and surveillance together, but then you have two perks which do mostly the same.
-
I have this animation bug where survivor dont get affected, too. Some misses are frustrating.
But my playstyle is to nut fully effect most of the time. I let time do the work. So the puke needs to only connect once for me.
I got a 15 win streak on red rank without addons and i just tried her out. She is surely playable. For me she is on the same strength like doctor, bubba etc. (B-tier)
I play on a normal ps4 so you dont need highend equip.

Discordance is total garbage and actually more obvious to the survivors than surveillance is, tinkerer is near broken or just pretty good depending on what killer you're playing.
Naturally tinkerer is the most used one of these since other control perks have conditions while tinkerer is unavoidable
Most of the killer used discordance just as a addition to tinkerer. So you know when you see tinkerer that it is only one survivor and he needs 24sec for the gen. You cannot react to tinkerer with a no movement killer when you are not close and there are two survivor on the gen. Discordance covers this weakness.
-
"I'd disagree on that, reaction times are very important on both sides. I also do use windows of opportunity regularly but it's only a little help, and not a lot. And I'm sorry but it's not nearly as easy as you make it out to be. Also, those survivor content creators are narrating their own specific chase. They are on a particular side of the map, in a particular jungle gym, with a particular map RNG and particular perks, as well as against a particular killer. You can't just copy and paste and become good at looping when there are so many variables.
I also watch DBD streamers regularly, both killer and survivor. Pretty much every day"
I see the point with the reaction time. In your clip you got downed bc you dropped a unsafe pallet to early and the killer faked one side. You need to look at the killer and then drop the pallet in the right direction. I can mess this up too but its only needed for unsafe pallets.
Otherwise your looping was decent. You used first two safe pallets correctly and stunned the killer with the unsafe third pallet. Maybe you could have made it directly to the fourth pallet without using the third, but both were unsafe anyway and at the end of the game you can waste pallets. Its normal that you get down at unsafe pallets and i cant say whether there was a safe pallet you could have reached.
Windows of oppurtunity was for me an eye opener. I did learn the maps alot quicker and understand the variations better. Its really helpful for me in unique maps like midwitch.
You look at the streamer gameplay wrong. Yh there are many killer and you cant use the same tactic against every killer and you need to know the difference. But you should ignore the map. Sure there are some special maps like midwitch. But most of the maps have the same tiles. It doesnt matter which map it is. (Not much) There are three jungly gyms (i count the variation in ormond) and they are always the same, you can identify them easily. It is enough to learn to run all tiles alone and you are better as the average red rank survivor. Linking tiles differs from match to match but you dont need the perfect route. Just know where the pallets are (windows of oppurtunity), their strength and how long the killer needs to catch up to you. And you can ignore perks. Mostly they just use one exhaustion perk. Just ignore this part for your chase.
But your chase was decent, you did not go down at the safe pallets. Many red rank survivor are masters at going down at a safe pallet. Can you explain to me how thats possible? Doesnt that mean that looping isnt hard, most players are just really bad?
-
"It doesn't seem as easy as you claim. I think if it was that easy the survivors you go against, especially in red rank, wouldn't be so easy to beat at the very minimum 3 out of 4 times."
Yh thats exactly what i dont understand. It makes no sense. Most people should be able to do it. You dont need a good reaction time etc.
You can just copy exactly what you see a good survivor do on video. It is just walking. Holding a button.
So the problem is maybe experience?
When i use windows of oppurtunity i dont even need to learn the map.
Reasons could be: dbd is too unique and has no tutorial, players dont want to be good, etc. But i dont really understand it.

Normally the only reason I'm not on a gen is because I stay true to my medic playstyle and builds by making my way over to a survivor who I anticipate will be downed and hooked shortly. I like already being nearby when a teammate is thrown on the hook so I can do my job efficiently. If I was wrong about the hook, at least I'm already nearby to heal the injured quickly and get back to it.
Thats nice and you are free to choose your playstyle, but it can easily be a time waste.
Most of the time i can do half a gen in the time a killer hooks someone and walks to the gen. And when 3 people want to unhook and all leave their gen, you have a problem.
You have a whole minute to save someone. You dont get a bonus when you unhook earlier.

Are you saying that on average killer players are just simply better at the game? A killer bot wins most games, why can't survivor bots? I think its unfair that more is expected from survivors in order to win.
You can argue that its unfair that survivor have a harder start. But its really easy to reach a point where both roles are the same, so it doesnt matter. Its normal for a asymmetrical game.
-
The funny thing is that some people (probably them) want to balance around those survivor.
They spend so much time complaining about OP killers, but cant take the time to learn to hold one button.
I hate this matches where i need to do 3-4 gens alone so much, but i cant switch to swf bc its too easy.
-
Its not that hard to loop. You dont need any mechanical skill.
Look where pallets and windows are and plan your route. Windows helps.
Hug objects and use your smaller hitbox. You would be surprised how hard the killer can catch up. With dead hard you can test risk free how often you can run around a pallet.
Stay calm. Dont be scared of the killer. Its just a hit.
Dont run from pallet to pallet. You dont want to create a deadzone. Holding w brings you far. So you can often use only every second pallet.
You need the knowledge about tiles and killer powers, but 500 hours are enough to be a good enough looper for red rank.
-
The problem is that it seems like an outcry is the only thing working. I think they use other feedback but the devs make it look like a outcry is the only thing working. And this communication is not healthy.
A roadmap for a year would be nice. Weekly short dev statements.
I know some players hate it when a idea doesnt make it to the live game and it makes it easier for the devs when they only announce something when its ready.
But could it be really worse then now?
-
I dont think that weaker player will play more often against low tier killer. For then it would be roughly the same bc there are many player which are not good with Freddy, Spirit etc. I think for all on the skill level of average red rank and lower nothing would change in comparison to now.
But the good players will only see the strongest killer. Or they find no match, wait a lot and get player with lower mmr.

I usually just say GG on post game chat, when I was on ps4, I remember blocking msgs but then they spammed friend requests even after a few matches happened.
Blocking them in game does nothing, I've been blocked by a PS4 admin dbd group and I played her a few days after so I'm guessing blocking does nothing.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1879875#Comment_1879875
Idk the ark community but I've heard that they are worse than most communities, and on cod I remember I always muted everyone so I don't have any clue as to what they say.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1879948#Comment_1879948
Thanks!!, I just don't get the hate personality, like when I play survivor I just say GGs and move on, I'm confused as to what I did that made them toxic as I try my hardest to not tunnel not camp etc.
Yh Ark community is toxic. There are some really weird people. But nobody was so dedicated to be toxic that they would use a friend request for it.
-
DbD has such a special community. I played am playing so many games and nothing compares. COD, Apex, Ark etc
Dont get me wrong there are some toxic people too, but 90% of the toxic private messages are from dbd players. Some want to harrass so badly that they use friend invites when pms are blocked. Whats wrong with them?

The problem is that curving is not as viable as before. So the skill ceiling of billy got smaller.
But im not 100% sure, bc i was and am bad at curving.
But bc you are new to him the only thing that changed for you is the removal of the instasaw.
-
4 good solo players are better then a bad swf. Swf gives a boost, but the individual skill of players is more important. The problem with playing solo is that you dont get 4 good survivor.
-
I think they have the awareness. So posting in the forums will not change their mind. They are slow with changes most of the time. Except when theres an outrage like at the halloween event.
I think it would be more effectiv when you had a survey how many people want the colorblind settings. Maybe they did ask this question in their own survey and so it has low priority.
The problem is that this problem doesnt affect most people, so they dont need to care.
-
Its easy to reach rank 1 as solo survivor. DS for tunnel protection is good to not lose too many pips against tunneling. One or two unhooks are enough for the benovelent emblem, the rest should be fine when you a decent looper.
I reach rank 1 solo without trying when i do the rift challenges.
-
The killer will think you are swf and tunnel you. Its a decent perk when you know how to use it and you are a good looper, but its only really strong when you use it with communication.
It hard counters some killer like trapper and makes it no fun for the killer.

I'm not talking about rank, I am more or less talking about mastering and learning Killer specifics and getting better at each killer. I stopped caring about rank as soon as I got the achievements for both sides. A goal can be something like mastering a certain technique with a certain killer or understanding how the power works completely. The goal can be anything, really, not just rank or killer mastery. Rank is probably only important to reach and learn for newer players, because you very quickly realize rank isn't really satisfying to achieve or anything after your first time getting to Rank 1 or so.
Yh like i said. Rank is worthless. But i mean when you have mastered a killer enough to win most of the time. For me its harder to improve when i win anyway. Obviously i improve more with nurse bc i have lots to learn with here. But i think i improve generally faster with a killer when i struggle and i can see the results better. To improve is fun, but without a goal or a measure how much i improved it feels like a time waste when i look back.
-
@FilledPizza said:
There are a lot of things that you can learn in this game. I don't think anyone can say that they have learned absolutely everything there is about the game, so try to play different killers every now and then and try to get as good as you can with them. If you don't enjoy being completely stomped and bullied when you try to, it will come with time that you eventually do not mind a loss, so you won't get better at having motivation to play if you don't try. Plus, there's a Blood Rush soon and now's a really good time to get back into the game so you can get some extra BP.
Overall, just don't stress it and just play with the intent of learning new things or having fun, not solely winning.
Thats not a bad mindset. I had the same too. But lately im thinking isnt it pointless? You reach the skill for rank 1 on both sides quickly, you get still a lot better after that, but then you have no use for your skill. No goal like a rank or similar. Im not talking about tournament level, just good enough to stomp the average red ranks and so good that playing swf is boring.
New MMR could be interesting, but it seems its invisible.
-
But why? Its a useless information to see how many survivor you hooked. The hook stage info is still not good, but atleast you see the chance is higher to have someone on deathhook.
But i will ignore it anyway and continue counting in my head.

Ah dang. Wish they kept individual ranks for all killers to see how good I am on each one. That sucks lol
That makes no sense. Individual ranks would not show you how good you are, you would need to see the MMR.
-
@Healthore77992 said:
I mean it sucks but it's not the killer, it's the player, we cannot control how other player will play. But you can punish him by doing gens and making him de-pip, maybe even tbag at the gate 😉
Yh thats the point. But the majority of players gives them an easy win. And that will never change and so they will never change.
-
I would take ds. Just to be sure their is a obsession. Kindred is always good. Windows of oppurtunity shows you which pallets are not used.
-
I hate the new playstyle. My build (stbfl and infectious) is good for it, but its so boring. I want to lure survivor in traps and not only create deadzones.
The new change is not even that important. On the new maps you personally need to force a survivor into a trap (they see it but have no choice anyway) otherwise survivor with eyes cant get trapped.
-
Hardcore tunneling is a really bad solution. Dont get me wrong most of the time i dont care about DS bc average teams are no challenge and i know getting the ds early out of the way against cocky survivors screws them over.
But technically you said ds is weak against tunneling. I think most of the experienced killer have no problem with ds aginst tunneling, but the other ways to abuse it. And imo ds doesnt make it easy for survivor. It just makes even matches easier for survivor. So when you win most of the time anyway you feel nothing.

My major problem with Plague is that her height compared with a lack of mobility or chase power makes chases against a good looper nigh unwinnable. I also think that having to go so far out of the way for your timed power that people can easily hide from just doesn't justify building up to it. Sure, Micheal isn't ranged and is timed. But he can pop it at any time with no warning or slowdown. There's a map wise sound effect aswell as a visual notification just incase you weren't paying attention.
I really like her visual design and concept but just don't enjoy playing her at all. In the rare case I give her a chance I get my ass handed to me moreso than usual.
And when I play against her (incredibly rare) most matches end with her camping 1 player for the kill with the gates open.
I struggled with plague til i changed my playstyle. My first goal in the match is to infect everybody. I almost never infect someone fully and hit them. I let time do it. Sometimes i take the easy M1 too when they are not fully infected. They get their sprintboost from the hit, but now they cant afford to get close to me anymore. When nobody cleanses, i wait for the perfect moment to use my only pool.
I can still loose, because they do not cleanse and i waste my only pool, but i get better results with it.
I copied more or less otz playstyle and i got a 15 win streak without addons at red rank. And i still have lots to learn with her.

I totally agree! I think that removing just Claudette's and/or Jake's skins will be problematic, so I think an "all-or-nothing" approach is the best stand.
By using these new cosmetic ideas (the aprons/momentos from survivors) it will effectively give the people who earned those awful skin tone cosmetics something else in exchange (which would probably need to be cleared with the rights-holder(s) first) while at the same time removing blackface & yellowface - disgusting, racist parodies of POCs that have existed long into US history and beyond - effectively giving the racists one less thing to use against players to taint the community.
it won't stop the racists, but we shouldn't make harassment easy for them.
It doesnt make it easier for them. Its not even that big of a problem. Wearing the face of someone, is not a blackface. Some people use the similarity, but removing it would not make this people less racist. The intention of bubba and wearing faces has nothing to do with racism. So we shouldnt change something bc some people abuse it. There are lot of ways to show your racism. The people who do it are the problem. They need to be banned.
People could play the pedophile Freddy and use usernames about it. This would be a bigger problem, but would we remove Freddy? No, we should remove the players who do it.

I'm on the EU servers and it's the same here. I personally prefer to play killer, but I will point blank refuse after a certain time because during the day, it's way calmer, and actually fun to play as killer, wether a win or loss. But once evening rolls around you can instantly see the SWF teams, which I have no issue with people playing as SWF, but there are too many that just act toxic or go out of their way to ruin the killer's fun for them. Even when I try just to play for fun or points, which most of my matches are honestly because I've given up on winning as killer anymore, it's not fun at all when you go against some kind of faze clan tournament players who are playins as if they're about to win a cash prize for escaping.
Im in the same region and for me its different. During the day the survivor are better players then at night. I think during the day the matchmaking works better, bc there are fewer survivors.
At night every killer gets the same survivor bc the survivor need to wait so long that the matchmaking system ignore ranks more, so for a rank 1 killer night is better, but for an rank 10 killer it is not.
-
Its bad connection. Its ok when you want to rant, but you will not get help in discussions for it. You could put it in feedback, but i think the devs know the problem.

Most people are toxic in a position of power. So better matchmaking could help against toxity.

When the game starts you have a chance of having your team win and escape through the gates. But when your team has already lost, there are just 2 choices left: to die or to escape through the hatch. And the latter is much more beneficial than the former.
Thats correct. But i personally dont see a hatch escape as a win. I try to get it, but its only mercy from the game.
So bc its not so important for me, i dont hide from the killer at 2 players. Its not worth it for me. I do this only when i want the killer to suffer.

Id rather not know anyone else MMR and they not know mine, seeing other comunities were MMR is open for all to see creates a huge elitism around the players "how DARES that 10000 MMR deadbeat being paired with me, a 10100 GOD? Ah great, a 12000 joined the team, nice nice". Not knowing yours no idea, maybe they dont want people gathering data on how it works and slow them on learning how to trick the system, which will happen, its only a matter of when.
While knowing everyones MMR has some advantages it has some drawbacks too and in this case the drawbacks are too high and toxic (as other games have shown us).
Showing MMR and hiding MMR have both drawbacks. In a game with no real rank mode i see more problems with hiding.
They could only show your own rank and it would be a good compromise.

The whole entire purpose of playing survivor is too see if you can survive the killer and escape.
Even if the killer kills 3 survivors and 1 escapes through the hatch, overall indicating that the killer still won, for that one survivor that escaped through the hatch it’s still supposed to be a personal win.
They’re called survivors for a reason. Surviving is winning.
No it isnt. You can see it that way but there are many arguments against it. (Depipping while escaping for example)
Its not a clear win-condition, otherwise i could camp the hatch from the start and let my team die. It would be the best way to win.

You can be crafty before going for a hook save in that situation.
Go to the furthest available gen (I hope you haven’t 3 gen’d yourselves), and intentionally flub a skill check and then immediately do a wide circle back around to the hook (as killer will take the shortest possible route towards that gen). Or drop a pallet, or do a fast vault or locker entry. Anything that might draw the killer away. Be mindful that you want it to appear you made a mistake. You don’t want your diversion to be an obvious bait.
Thats useless. When you think the whole entire purpose of survivor is to escape then letting the other one die is the right solution.
Rescuing even without alerting the killer is counterproductive.

Isnt the only point with empathy to have different values for perk tiers?

Well, escaping gives you 5k bloodpoints, while a safe unhook is only 1.5k. Escaping is also required to get golden or iridescent "Unbroken" emblem, while a safe unhook grants you an additional 10 pints (out of 100) in the Benevolent emblem (-10 for hooking and then +20 for safe unhooking, or -30 for an unsafe unhooking, so even here you risk with your emblems). By any means escaping is much more beneficial to the survivor than dying.
Yh but compared to everything you did prior in this match escaping or not escaping dont makes a difference most of the time. I know there are matches where the better emblem gives you a pip, but that is the minority.
When you want bloodpoints you dont look at the gain per match. When you die earlier and can play more matches, you get more bloodpoints.
-
The problem is that too many players see an escape as win. Sure it gives you bloodpoints and emblem points, but compared to other things its not the sole reason of the game.
Its only rational when you want to escape.
Rational for fun? Depends on the person.
Rational for a pip? I dont think so, it can make the difference but most of the times it does not.
Rational for bloodpoints? No
Ratinal for your time? No
-
Maybe not for you, you with your 21 hours could be lucky and see more streamer. Last time players with 5000 hours played against 10h player.
It was the same like now, just more extreme. Many matches as rank 1 against only rank 20. I know its hard for you against red ranks, but as someone who watched many videos before playing, too, i can say there are many player worse than you. And i played against them when the matchmaking was released. It was hell.
