I’m not looking for a challenge within a small group of people, I’m looking for a challenge in random matching which ought to be the goal of an engaging game
Then wait for the mmr-system and hope its working this time.
The average playerbase will never be good.
-
I think you should be happy that you get the base game so cheap.
Dont get me wrong im not buying skins with money. But i didnt do it when skins were sold for 1€ 10 years ago either.
I preferred when you could get skins with playing. Sure i earn money faster then i can earn a skin in a game, but it isnt the same. Something is different when you achieved something for a skin.
In the end business is business. You sell your work for the best price. When people pay 15€, then they are the problem. It is only a skin.
-
@JawsIsTheNextKiller said:
The question is: If it was half the price would twice as many people buy it? If it was a quarter of the price would four times as many people buy it.
I wish they would test the waters by putting a skin this good out really cheaply.
The test would be wasted money. This system was tested in many games and this was the result. It is no coincidence that other games sell their top skins with 15-20 too.
Whales (players who spend really much) make the money
-
The mmr-sytem has a rank for each killer. So you cant swap bc the survivors are balanced for the killer which started the search.
Mmr is not active, but i will come back, so the no switch system stays.
-
There are some extremes.
Keys and old moris.
Some maps or tile rng for each side.
Killer addons and different killer in general.
And more.
Its getting less imo, but there are still things on both sides which you can bring which have a huge impact on the match.
And one thing which many players dont understand is that the skill mix in matches are most of the time not fair. Nobody would think that pistols in counterstrike are op, when a Global elite player destroys Goldplayer with it. In DbD you will most of the time not play with players on the same skill level and you have no way to see it.
-
Nothing will happen. You should be safe.
But why do you think you were nice to them? Some players hate farming, so they are not happy when you do it.

The only reason i'm saying red rank stats matter and the others dont is because other ranks are full of people either new to the game, smurfing, deranking etc and is not a good representation of normal games.
Yh but there are many reasons why red rank doesnt matter, too.
So when you can see that there are many problems with data gathering, why do you use it? We should atleast wait til the MMR-system before we draw conclusions.

65% is red ranks. Don't try and tell me that you should balance for grey ranks.
On an interesting note however, people always say that killer starts off easy in lower ranks and then gets harder... these stats prove otherwise.
You say we should balance around red ranks. Which red ranks? The difference between red rank players is higher then the difference between the weaker red ranks and yellow ranks.
We should really start to ignore rank for now. The devs are not happy with the emblem system, they try do build the new MMR-system for a long time now, and everyone sees the difference in skill in red rank.
So til the MMR is implemented all data depending ranks has many flaws.
-
Crotus prenn?
-
I have the feeling some players give up when they see its a freddy. No gens get done and they didnt even had contact with him. Its like they see that they are falling asleep and decide that gens are not important for this match.
-
For me its different. I started to getting rid of most of my information perks. While i did need to run BBQ for bloodpoints, i often played with NC or other info too.
When i played with Billy every match was a rush duel. Stop them with killing or all gens are done.
Info perks did make it easy against Self carer etc but now i think i should get the information with game knowledge and not with perks. I still playing with NC when its good for the killer like Ghostface or Wraith, but i dont play it on killers like billy.
I always liked sloppy and now i play more often with StbfL.

Yh its my fault of course. Bc you draw conclusions. I put a warning in the first sentence, but no you are to lazy to read more then the title. You are joking, right?

I wouldn't nerf her. She is fine imo.
Read my post. I said when survivor got nerfed on the level of bubba. So it doesnt matter that shes fine now.
But when you read the entire thread (you dont need to, but you should really read the first post) i said that the best would be to nerf survivors in a way that nurse is not affected. Like the map reworks with fewer good pallets.

Would make the nurse just unable to blink through dropped pallets, everything else I would say is actually fine
That would make her to weak. Then she needs to break every pallet.

There is counterplay to everything a nurse does people just dont know how to play against a good one because they don't see it enough, the nurse does everything based off of predicting what a survivor is about to do , if you start being unpredictable it will be harder to land a hit , a good nurse will immediately identify if you're a double backer or a full sender when running from her and then play off of that knowledge, mixing it up can confuse even the best nurse and force them into a poor decision for example: let's say I run around the corner and I'm about to double back , a good nurse will blink to where she last saw you anticipating a double back and land the hit , but if you full send it in a not so obvious direction just gaining distance from the said wall it's way harder to predict where I'm full sending it and opens the door to double back the next time I'm in that situation, faking windows can also force the nurse to blink in or out of an area that you don't intend on running to waste a blink, also keeping track of how many blinks she has and how long it takes to recharge is important, The nurse doesn't need a nerf or a buff she's fine where she's at just be lucky a 5 blink nurse with little to no downsides isn't a thing anymore THAT'S when it was hard to play against a nurse
Should maps have more line of sight blockers to give more oppurtunities for counterplay?
I mean you are right, in tournaments a nurse dont 4k every game. In the current state of the game nurse is balanced.
Maybe the right way is to dont nerf nurse, its to nerf survivor only against other killers. Like the map reworks. It doesnt helps a nurse that there a fewer good pallets, but it makes other killer stronger.
-
@Klakky said:
Nurse is literally slower than survivors... She takes a really long time to master and even then she isn't gonna 4k every match...
How about we nerf posts like these? "Oh boo hoo I died to a good nurse literally the hardest killer to learn so instead of saying gg nicely played Imma complain about it on the forums"
Literally every killer can lose just remember that
Great assumption. What a useless post. The last time i played against a nurse is over a week ago. Against a good nurse i cant even remember. Maybe answer my question or just write nothing.

I've had a great many matches against Doctor where there's three people down in the first 45 seconds. That's not an exaggeration. I mean, I'm a pretty good player. Not great, but not bad either. I've never beaten doctor. Ever. And the idea that the only way to do it is to run a specific perk kinda pisses me off. You HAVE to run Calm spirit to not lose against doctor and you HAVE to run Spine Chill to not lose against Ghostface or Meyers. What's the point if your entire build is just going to be insurance against specific killers?
Sorry but you are not a good player. What tells me that is not that you lose against doctor, its that you give up against him instead of improving.
The doctor can find you easily. Ok, who cares? There are some moments like after he hooked something where you dont want to be found but when he carries someone you have enough time to find a locker.
To counter his shock in chase you need to understand more what your options are. When you are so predictable that a doctor can shock you without line of sight its a problem. Dont stay at pallets, you can run around the loop more bc the shock slows doctor down.
The problem with doc is that he is a noob stomper.

That has nothing to do with console. I play console and i see this a lot more since crossplay.

Killers are weak in low level. In the very beginning. They can't find any survivors. Gens get done. And everyone escapes.
Killers get enormously strong after the killer is able to track survivors.
Killers evens out w survivors once they start facing competent survivors.
At this point, it's make or break.
Either the player will become extremely good and kill everyone regardless of good survivors or not. Or the player will hit a skill cap and get bullied, and stop playing, or go back to survivor.
But there is a extreme lack of high quality killers compare to Uber good survivors.
U can be red rank survivor and consistently face rank 8-12 killers. There's just not enough red rank killers to go around compare to high skill survivors.
Even some purple rank survivors play like rank 1's.
Killers are slightly OP. But they are SUPPOSE to be OP.
Survivors are weak, but once u get 1000hrs under ur belt, survivors become extremely OP.
Killers don't need nerf. Killer perks don't need nerf. But they keep getting nerfed. Cuz the entitled survivors said so.
There is no toxic Killers, there are only toxic survivors.
I think its different. Killer are very strong in low level. When you start the game survivor are just waiting to be slaughtered. Maybe now its different bc they get good survivor at the start with the matchmaking.
But when i started i played against my ranks and grey and yellow ranks were easy. Tracking was never a problem.
Then you get survivor who can loop. The killer gets destroyed and its the most frustrating time. Then it proceeds like you said. Some killer make it, others leave.

My favourite assumption is the one that just won’t die: if anyone consistently wins with an off meta build, some how it’s because the match making algorithm by sheer magic has been matching that player with terrible opponents for 100% of their matches.
I like the assumption that every of their own matches is a sweaty swf more.
-
What is a unfun killer for you? Im not sure but i guess its a killer with little counterplay.
Because when you want to win against good survivor you need a killer who ends a chase fast without depending on what the survivor does.
But this is obviously no fun for survivor. Its normal that you want to escape the chase. Most survivor think they are not playing well when they dont escape in a chase or when the chase doesnt last very long. This mindset is most of the time true when you play soloQ.
-
When we look at a tierlist i would bring all characters to B-tier. So A and C-Tier are not so urgent.
Thinks like this killer has no counterplay or this killer has problems with her power (Plague) are not so important, when they are around B-tier. Addon depending killer should have the same priority. Except trapper bc its insane how important bags are.
So priorities for me would be Hag, Nurse, Survivor, Spirit on S-Tier and Clown, Wraith, Trapper maybe Pig in D-Tier.
Clown gets reworked, Wraith gets a buff and Iridiscent Huntress (pseudo-S-tier) gets changed. Demo (C-Tier) gets a change too. So important changes are coming. But Trapper needs changes too. 2 traps base, no rng escape and better trap accessibility.
Now for S-tier. I dont know how to nerf all of them to B-tier.
Spirit with a phase indicator and maybe where you can hear her every 3 sec, but she knows when you hear her.
Hag disable all traps near the hook when someone gets unhooked. No trap disabling with flashlights instead you need to crouch maybe 3sec over a trap to disable it.
Survivor are hard to change bc you need to nerf it without affecting bad players too much. You cant make survivor like nurse where its hard to play decent. So you need changes which affects good survivor more. Map reworks are a good start.
Nurse is a problem. Why should someone play her when she is hard to learn but she would have the same strength as every killer? But when she stays at her strength and all other killer are around A/B/C-tier everyone would only play her on high level. Has anyone suggestions ?
-
Yh great. And how should i get this build when i have no mither 3?
I would play without a busted toolbox, thats fair, right?

If matchmaking ever gets fixed, the biggest difficulty for the weaker players will be access to locked perks. To win easily as killer, you need Ruin, Undying and Tinkerer. That's three killers you need to unlock and level up (one locked behind DLC (or two depending on your format).
When new rank 15 Trappers with 1 perk are facing teabagging, flashlight-clicking red rank SWFs with the full suite of meta-perks and comms to hand, that's really rough.
The trapper would lose with 4 perks, too. Matchmaking is really the first step, we need to see the results to say what needs to be fixed next.
Perks could be but when you have good matchmaking would it matter? When you get good perks, you play better, so you play against better players too. In the end you have the same chance of winning with or without good perks.

in order to play as a killer, you should have 5000+ hours as a killer
No 2000+ are ok. But seriously when you play against players with a lot more experience it is hard.
-
@JawsIsTheNextKiller said:
Yes, why should everybody "git gud"? Bad players and new players should be allowed to enjoy the game. As long as the devs can get match making in order, and they try to balance across all skill levels we should be able to have a bit of a moan about certain perk combinations, SWFs or Spirit without being told everything is fine, you're just bad.
Thats exactly the point. So while i think they will fix the matchmaking, im not so optimistic that they can balance it for every skill level. Its really hard to achieve.

"When you win"
So you obviously have no confidence that you can win yet you talked up such a big game about yourself. The goal is for you to prove that your method is solid. If it's as good as you said, then you should have no problem getting at least 3ks every single match. If you're as good as you said then there should be no reason you've already assumed that you will lose. I'm a rank 8 survivor, my brother I think is rank 14 right now. Surely you can stop us into the dirt?
My steam name is "Kotos42". We can talk more there.
You dont understand it. But whatever lets just do the match
I just dont want you to think that im here to brag. I wanted you to not give up and get better and now it seems like im some idiot who think hes high and mighty.

You said I don't play at your level. No better way to learn then to witness. How are you going to brag about being at a much higher level and winning 20 straight 4ks and then chicken out of a challenge?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1833555#Comment_1833555
Nice!
No, we can do it. I liie a challenge. It just wouldnt prove the point. What has your survivor level to do with your killer level? What would it prove when you beat me as a survivor?
Survivors are technically stronger as most killer (stronger then ghostface), but most survivor at red rank are not good player.
When you win you prove that you are better then most of the red rank teams. No surprise. You are a swf with over 1000h who will try their best to win.
When i win i prove nothing. I still know nothing about your skill as killer.
Technically i proved that im better bc i reached rank 1 and you not. But lets get more in detail. Do you play with crossplay? Which region?
I know for sure that in Europe with crossplay its easy to reach rank 1. For example Otzdarva plays in this region, too, and he tries 50win-streaks with killer. So its prove that its not hard to reach rank 1.
-
I have no problem with playing injured. I play ps4. I play with crossplay and i dont see a difference between pc and ps4.
But i give not much attention to how efficient my teammates play. The glimpses i see with kindred or when im on the hook are enough. Dont expect anything in soloQ.
-
I would be fine with it. But i think Bhvr targets not the regular player base with the dlc. The main point is to bring players back to the game or get new players. (mostly licensed chapters)
So even if 90% of the player in the forums would be fine with that Bhvr couldnt do it.

"Freddy can carry you into red ranks"
If I were just learning the game I wouldn't be good at Freddy. The only reason I'm good with him is because I have good game sense now. I know where everyone is at down to close proximities so being able to teleport me puts me where I need to be. With BBQ there's not even guesswork involved. I catch a glimpse and it's an autotrack from there. If I didn't play Ghostface I think I would be a terrible Freddy.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1831835#Comment_1831835
When you say winstreak, what are you counting as a win? Pips or kills? Yes this matters. As Ghostie I pip very often, but rarely feel like I've actually won.
"So you certainly dont play at my level"
"What do i need to do, that you will believe me?"
I'm thinking I'll make a SWF and we play.
Winstreak is 4 kills or 3 kills with hatch.
You with a swf would be a interesting match, but that wouldnt prove any point. I know that survivor are stronger. I as survivor x4 would beat me as a killer and i would say im a better killer then survivor.
The point is that you can get better. Nothing is proven when you beat me, bc teams in pubs are at average far worse than a tryharding 1000 hour swf. You dont need to be able to beat this teams to reach rank 1.

"There is always something to learn."
I couldn't disagree more. The RNG alone makes certain matches unfavorable. I like the chances but there are some games, against certain survivors in teams, that cannot be won. I remember that McMillan match thinking "okay I know where all the totems are just from instinct, I know where the survivors are most likely at, I know who the altruistic ones are now, I can predict everything about to happen..." and sure enough still end up losing. The biggest mistake I made as a new Freddy was thinking I didn't have a red stain visible, which is huge, but is it enough to swing that entire game? I'm new to Freddy but not to the game. I have 965 hours on my Steam account alone, and the first two years I've played were on PS. I don't know how many more hours that is. Most of them were as killer. This game has nuances but I don't think misjudging my stain was enough to cause the total collapse in the games I've had recently.

"You reached red rank not long ago"
I've been rank 3 and 4 before often, but I usually get reset out of it. This is my first time getting to rank 2. I used to be a Ghostface main and before that a Legion main. You're lying through your teeth if you're about to tell me those are easy killers to rank with. Sure, I ranked extra fast as Freddy, but the same teams I'm having trouble with are the same ones everyone has trouble with. Don't pretend you've not faced them.

YES. Thank you, you two.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1831502#Comment_1831502
Exactly right. I've met a lot of nice people today playing Freddy so I don't mind, but I really like this game and I don't have many games so I really don't like it when people just admit that they're bad and blame people for not wanting to put up with it.
Legion is one of the easiest killer to rank up. (Not winning) Bc you get so many hits.
I have on ghostface a 20-winstreak without addons in red rank.
But its not important that some killer have an easier time with emblems. The point why you reached rank 2 with freddy is that freddy is easier to play. I reach red rank with every killer and you play with crossplay, right, so you shouldnt have it harder on pc.
So you certainly dont play at my level, so you have way to improve. It doesnt even matter that you maybe got a real unwinnable match. A good killer player doesnt struggle to reach rank 1. He gets it without trying. So you clearly are not good enough and can improve.
What do i need to do, that you will believe me?
-
I think for every change we should determine how it would affect new players. We cant make the game unplayable for people who start to play.
I think 5% regression with every kick would make kicking more worth it. I see new killer always kicking every gen they see so it would help them.
A startup animation is not a bad idea, but it shouldnt be too long. Otherwise it hurts newer players who leave the gen for every sound. So 1-2seconds.
Buff base regression. I wanted a perk like that forever. Then ruin came as a hex and i dont like totem perks. Base regression shouldnt be 0.5 like ruin. While good teams can handle it, it would have a huge impact on newer player. Maybe more something like 0.35.
You certainly can say they all just need to get good, but i dont think many of them will. And there will always be new player. Devs dont want to patch for high level and kill the game for the low half.

At some point we have to accept that there are unwinnable games, and the circumstances that make those games unwinnable are fairly objective and consistent for everyone. I really don't know much more I could have done. Even if I were playing with them all highlighted the entire time I don't think I could have gotten a single one finished. Like I said, half the game I had full visibility on the target and they still took me around for half the game. The last half was just trying to stop gens sliding out from underneath me.
I read you first post again. You reached red rank not long ago. I dont want to be rude, but now im certain you didnt reach you skill gap.
When you really want to get better, you can show me your gameplay and i tell you what your mistakes are.

There are surely some unwinnable matches. But i hear so many people say it was unwinnable, its not possible. I have over 2000 hours and this matches dont happen often.
It could be that you had one of this rare unwinnable matches, but it doesnt mean you could play better.
When i was at 500 hours i knew a lot of the game, but compared to now its a huge difference. There is always something to learn.

I also like hag, and Michi. But she should get a small nerf because trapping the hook 9 times is boring for the survivors. I think both otz and michi suggested something about that (correct me if I'm wrong, at least)
When you hook someone, ALL traps that are within 8 meters of the hook get disabled, like when you burn them with a flashlight. It will kinda suck that the pallet that you've trapped at the start of the match will be loopable since the trap will be gone, but you can adjust the trap placement.
I think it was when a survivor gets unhooked not hooked.

I really don't think there's any more technical expertise I can improve on. I've hit my cap. I rewatch and think through my games and it's basically the same problem: all of the survivors know how to run shacks and there are too many pallets on some of the older maps. If survivors are determined to stay on gens, then the game is sealed in the first two minutes while I'm fooling around with one. A two minute chase at the beginning is reasonable. The second option is to egress chase- but that comes with the fact that I just wasted my time, the survivor will now heal, I need to find a new survivor, and I'm still losing two gens even if I find another one right away. Three if I don't. The opening is hard.
You probably dont hit your cap. There are not many people who reached their cap in anything.
I bet when you show your gameplay and get advice, you can still improve.
Dont get me wrong i think good survivor are too strong against most killer and they shouldnt be toxic, but dont say you cant get better. When you dont want to get better, its a different story.

I'm just gonna list everything i noticed:
-You mindgamed the kate (first chase with her) at the wrong side of the TL wall and gave her easy access to the jungle gym near you.
Always be mindful ti which part of the map you want to herd them!
-The chase with kate was waaaaayy too long.
Overcommitting to chases is one of the biggest mistakes you can make as a killer. That chase could have easily cost you the game if the kate made that window vault.
-You are pretty cornblind and missjudged your lunge way too often.
Always take a step back track their movement and then attack.
-At 6:40 you should have slugged. There were scratchmakes clearly showing someone was near and you gave them a free unhook
-At 7:20 you could have tried to go for a lean stalk on the feng vonsidering there was pretty much nowhere she could have gone to
-7:45 when you were chasing the feng you knew there was someone nearby healing themself,so after downing her you could have tried to see if that person was still nearby and potentially get a free hit on her
-8:29 kicking gens without pop or something similiar is useless and a waste of time
-10:30 at that point you were already winning so kicking gens isn't really beneficial anymore
-11:40 you exposed her way too far away.Only expose them when you're close to them.
You definetely made some good plays and show that you are experienced but keep the mistakes you made this game in mind and try to avoid them.If the survivor you were facing were better at the game then this would have been an easy loss for you.
If you got any questions feel free to ask me :)
Is there some trick with dealing with corn? And should i always step back and do a lunge?
Should i use more crouch in loops?

It matters bc you cant break line of sight everywhere.

Well, that's not what most people are bitching about, yeah? Sure, that happens, but either way you're #########, doesn't matter if it's a Spirit or not. Just break the pallet and a free hit.
Also, the thing is, if you want to capitalize off of the survivor's lack of options, you have to phase at some point, and if the survivor jukes you as you phase, then you just lost a free hit when you COULD have broken the pallet and gotten a free hit. I really don't see the point ur trying to make here
I dont care about what people are bitching.
I want to determine how strong it is against decent survivor and i want to know whether spirit needs this tool.
And its a free hit bc spirit does not need to break the pallet. Other killer would lose time breaking the pallet.
Sure the survivor cannot move, but then he most guess perfectly when the spirit is phasing. Phasing is a strong ability when the survivor knows the spirit is phasing. So why make it harder?
-
@Crowman said:
Considering any killer can stand still and wait for survivors to run into them (works well at LT walls if you position your red stain correctly), I don't see why it's specifically an issue that Spirit can stand still for free hits.
Its about standing still in plain sight. I think its a huge difference.
Do you think spirit need it?

In my opinion chases where i could go down every second are more enjoyable. Where gaining every second is hard work.
But thats only when i have a good team. When i know i need to loop the killer for a very long time, bc my team is slower then a snail glued to the ground, its frustrating.
Its the same with bloodlust. I dont like it that a killer gets me because he waits for 1 minute. But it wouldnt be so a problem, when my team would use the time.

In my personal opinion, her "standing still" mindgame is very weak. The only people who complain about it are people who vault into her.
Standing still can be a good mindgame overall for every Killer, for example Otzdarva does one often where he will show his red light, turn around, and stand still. 2 seconds later, a survivor walks into him. Is that considered no skill and cheap? Of course not. You made a survivor think you're doing one thing when in fact you are doing another. That's all Spirit's fake phasing is, and why it's a perfectly valid and respectable mindgame just like any other. However, it's one of the easiest mindgames to outplay, since it's really easy to lose LOS or gain distance, forcing the Spirit to phase, which can be used against her.
It should stay in the game and people need to gain more than 2 brain cells when versing the Spirit
No the problem is not vaulting into her. When you play smart as spirit you stand still so that behind the survivor is the map border. Same how there is a better side to break the pallet. The spirit has now a safe hit without phasing when the survivor leaves the tile.
Now the survivor has limited choices. And while the spirit is only standing still she can see which choice the survivor is making.
But the point i want to make is that spirit dont need this mindgame same like she dont needed the old vault mindgame.

I think with falling for it you mean running to her. But isnt the problem that you never know whether she is phasing and she can do it forever.

Do you really think average kill rate is 2k? I have more than 3.000 hours and with undying and the new maps killer is easy as hell. If you slug for the 4k is 4k every game.
Yh of course bc you play against survivor with a fraction of your hours and most of them are no tryhards.
When its so easy, play tournaments.

I think they should lessen the RNG-factor. Its the same with bear traps and pig traps. Luck should not decide who wins.
With Undying/Ruin you could need to break 2-5 totems. The difference is too much.

I say just get rid of the broken key altogether. It's utterly useless and I don't understand why it's even a thing. It's like having a broken medkit that you can't use to heal.
I think they should do the opposite. Keys should be for using it with addons, not to open the hatch.

A win for the survivor team is if all gens are completed and at least one escapes through the gates (closing the hatch and opening it doesn't count). It doesn't have to be myself.
Interesting. While i play with the same condition as killer, i dont care for it as survivor. Would you leave your teammates behind, when you have the oppurtunity to leave and score a win?
