There are about a dozen reason one could list, but the disappearance of the Queue Blood Point bonus is a large reason I am playing solo survivor less and mostly playing when my friends are online. Once it comes back, I imagine queue times will improve by a fair bit, considering how much people are inclined to do things for Blood Points.

Maybe, but perhaps not. It depends on how new the player is or their goals. If you want a prestige 100 character, obviously the bonus is important. But if you have been playing for a year, you probably do not need bloodpoints for your main role anymore. So unless you want to change roles and start from scratch, the BP bonus is whatever.

It will be an incentive. But if there were truly a systematic problem, it would not solve anything. Just like the Overwatch incentives solve nothing.

  • You can ruin any kill related challenges they are on if you hide well enough to bleed out. Other than that, it is a negligible difference of BP.

Well, it depends on the killer one is facing. I have my own personal list of killers that I dont like facing and the only map I hate in DBD is RPD and probably Grim pantry. Chances are if I was facing a tinker blight or legion with thana on RPD or in general, I'd most likely Suicide. (Keep in mind I play PS5/PS4 DBD and PC, PC Dbd players are a different BUILD I swear.) Everything else is fine, but I'd prefer if they reverted the killer buff and they left the perks alone where it is.

I agree that certain perks needed buffs and nerfs, but the killers didnt need their buff at all. Honestly, to each their own but playing survivor truly is miserable right now and that is an undeniable fact.

Well, more like an undeniable opinion...

  • Yeah, but I am getting more BP on average during games where I am forced to do 3-5 gens or getting tunneled excessively. So while I have not reached anywhere near 40k, I am getting more than I used to.

Tunnelling is just as much 'not a problem' as boil over + Eyrie offering + hook distance offering and just running to the unhookable spot every single time.

That was not really a problem either, to be honest. Annoying at best.

I'll preface by saying I AM a Survivor main who DID use Dead Hard in almost all of my builds. I'm not having a terrible time in most of my games. I loop for a smaller amount of time than before and that's fine, and I do enjoy most of the perk changes (except the changes made to self-care and botany) but my biggest issue has been tunneling.

BBQ getting its BP bonus removed has made people use it way less, I'm being completely honest when I say I think BBQ was a major factor contributing to killers not tunneling as often. It rewarded you for targeting other survivors by greatly increasing your BP gains.

With that incentive gone, people aren't using it now and are opting for slow down perks. This combined with Decisive getting a nerf and gen times taking longer than ever- tunneling is now an extremely safe and extremely optimal strat on a large number of killers.

I've noticed in so many games a killer will camp or tunnel until a survivor is out of the game before even 2 gens are done. Leaving the game to be an extremely steep uphill climb to survive in. It's no impossible but trying to win with only 3 people is a nightmare, especially for solo-queue.

I really think the endurance effect on hooks needs to be brought up to something like 8 or 9 seconds and there need to be more intense punishments for camping. I know you lose emblem points for doing so but why not make the killer actively lose bloodpoints for facecamping?

Oh, wow... I did not even consider that. I just went for stacks almost every game and now that they do not matter, I find myself tunneling even in casual games. Rofl. I genuinely forgot that BBQ forced me to interact with everyone. Funny thing about that is that I used to never use Save the Best for Last because I would lose stacks if I did not find the obsession first. But now I am running that perk all the time because I can just ignore that clown.

Indoor maps make and break Mirror Myers. One of my fondest Myer memories was me with a super casual build and NO vanity mirror loading into RPC.

I quickly decided to not level up my Evil Within, but just play as a budget Mirror Myers, and it worked! Gosh, it was so fun to jumpscare all the survivors and constantly bumb into them.

Chases were impossible, but I didn't care ^^ I ended up with a 3K and let the Claudette go. Still got accused as "camping killer trash" in the post game chat by the Bill who died first, but I took that as a batch of honor.

Imagine if you ran infinite tier 3 and camped him. How much more salty would he be? Trick question, it would literally not make a difference because those types believe leaving the hook and going cross map is face camping.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Why would you nerf "Okay" killer? It's fine, let him have some strong addon. It seems like half of his addons are meh anyway.

Because he mains him. How is that not a perfectly logical reason to request nerfs?

  • Okay, but I would still do it with slippery meat. Not sure how that solves the alleged problem.

  • I would be happy to see BBQ and Chili over a real perk. No idea what the complaint is there.

  • I would also appreciate BBQ back, but yeah, if only WGLF returned, at least I could alleviate the grind a bit as survivor. These nerfs were unnecessary and do nothing to mitigate the grind.

  • The grind got worse for all but veterans who already had most perks on most killers. For them, there is basically no more grind at all. For beginners? Worse than ever before.

  • I feel better knowing that people like you are in this community. There will always be bad apples, but I always feel better knowing that for every jackanape, there is a good spirited individual. You are a real one, homie.

  • Absolutely. They loosened it. This is not some great mystery (not trying to insult you, I have just seen other people acting like it is not possible that the matchmaking itself was changed and that survivors are just THAT boosted). They have been changing it, by the way. Mmr is not as strict as it used to be when competent killers were getting matched up with competent survivors. Dare I say, with how things are now, perhaps Otz could resume his 50 winstreak challenges.

  • If you are going to tunnel, it needs to be at 5 gens, otherwise it is too late (against good survivors). The real issue is there is no way of telling if survivors are good before damage is done. If they tunnel someone out, and keep tunneling after the first one was removed from the game and there are still 4 or 5 gens... They are a bit rude, not going to lie. But the real issue is that matchmaking is wack.

I personally ease up if I notice the lobby was not a gen rushing Navy Seal squad. However, I could also see if the killer just wants to go next a$ap.

  • My queues went from instant to about a minute. Do not get me wrong, I dislike that. I am the guy who was fine with how survivor sided the game was because it meant short queues and... Nothing changed. I play killer during the night, naturally. I imagine during the day the queues are as grueling as ever. That is when I dust off my girl Yun Jin from Jenshin Impact. She is into music.

  • But that is WHY solo queue is unbearable for many. Most people already know their teammates are useless.

    Uh...

Okay, scenario 1 would have been infinitely worse prepatch, unless someone brought BT. Plus, it's a Sadako. Just trade if you have to. She's not a strong camper.

Scenario 2 - as you say, that was your team playing poorly.

Floods of Rage isn't a regression perk, Tremors is barely a perk at all. Dying Light is a bad perk. That Pig had a mediocre-at-best build. If she'd been running PR, Agi, FOR and DMS then yeah, that's nasty.

What the heck are PR and Agi? Agitation? Why would that be nasty?

  • I did not feel that the changes were that big of a deal on paper. In practice though, it has kind of been a struggle. I am lower mmr because I usually just give the killer a free kill if they do not get anyone else. I actively choose to do this. But post-update, they have been getting multiple kills during the game, so I try to escape end game and I only did it once against a TTV Pyramidhead who was trying to 2 hook everyone before sacrifices.

I also accidentally threw a game because self care takes so long to heal now and I had no idea just how much longer. I feel bad about that one, the person on hook probably hates me. As far as I am aware, I have never been such a baby survivor that I resulted in the killer wiping us until that game... Lol.

  • I would assume it is an oversight. They just changed it last second to get people to stop complaining about how the grind was not going to be substantially improved after the BBQ nerfs and pay to prestige.

  • What does it do? It is my next challenge. I thought it just debuffed you?

  • Nah, we need four survivors for every one killer. As long as killer dominates the 1v1, as they do, it is fine. Survivors SHOULD dominate the 4v1. It would be really weird if they did not.

How long it takes before we consider it a "holding the game hostage" lmao

The developers consider doing your objective as killer to be taking the game hostage. If you are a survivor in this situation, just refuse to do your objective, and once one of you gets bored and gives up, report the killer to Behavior with video evidence and tada, banned. Maybe that will stop killers from doing if if they were more aware that they are somehow the ones taking the game hostage. Because common sense would tell you the opposite. It is understandable where this confusion might be coming from. You need to let them finish gens to not be breaking the rules.

I don't like the phrase "free escape". Why it is free? I saved DS for the end, I played with my team and helped did 5 gens, so endgame happened. It is not free, it's well earned. That logic make Bloodwarden free kill.

The difference is that hook stages exist and Bloodwarden's timer is not long enough to be considered literally free as DS was genuinely a free escape as all you need to do is cross the exit gate and DS gave you enough distance to do it unless you were hooked cross map, I guess? Albeit, you will never catch me downplaying Bloodwarden. That perk is insanely strong and as you mentioned, very close to a free kill. Especially if the survivor is already 2nd stage.

Heck, there were some meme set ups with it that actually made it pump out free kills. So, you are correct, the logic is pretty similar. Not exactly the same, but close enough? I fail to see the point, really. You want Bloodwarden nerfed? I am not against it.

  • @Akumakaji said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3087750#Comment_3087750

Indeed. Apparently tunneling and camping is THE problem of the day and it needs to be adressed somehow. But I don't think that any more perks as basekit are the solution, more something like the carrot and the stick method, ie make it more worth the killers while to leave the hook and chase someone then to stay and camp.

At one point in the past BHVR experimented with slowing down hook progression when the killer was too close to the hooked person, but appartently this would be abused by the survivors.

But that was in the past under the old systems, now with the killers being buffed all around this system could work? Maybe this slowdown could be paused when a survivor was actually chased around the hook, and on the same vein, give the killer some incentive to leave it. Like show the killer the most distant survivor for 3s and give them a 10s speed boost when out of chase to get over there. We all want fun games and fun chases, so everyone needs to get something out of playing this way and the stick isn't always the best method, the carrot is much more fun.

The one reason I ever left hook when playing killers who cannot properly face camp was BBQ. And they gutted it to make the grind worse for new players, or something. No idea what the goal was, there. Either way, I never use it anymore and therefore I now camp even when playing "chill" games where I am only after a quick challenge and let the survivors go to speed up the process a bit.

I'm speaking about "Strength in numbers" challenge, where you have to have at least one survivor escape while you still in match.

Trivia (can skip to the next part)

Another SoloQ example. I'm 1.2K hours (so no comments like "you just have to play more"). I almost never used DH before, so nothing new for me perkwise, using same familliar loadout.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2P8VZPLY5EIC/image.png

Only once I escaped through hatch as last survivor.

Only 3 games were not 4K.

I have starting to get lots of gold and iri "Evader" emblems and be in chases longer than 2 minutes (exept nurse, ofc), which means killers I'm matched with are completely unskilled. Yet almost everytime is 4K

    Tunneling is off the charts!

Finally got that book challenge because was matched with 3 SWF bully squad and killer was fresh.

    What i wanted to say

SoloQ is literally unplayable, unless you're some pro tournament streamer. Devs should get up the nerve and make a statement: survivor gameplay is supposed for friend play. SoloQ is not meant to be and it's at your own risk. No problem with that, many quesions will be ceased immediately.

System requirements: internet connection, PC/Xbox/PS, 3 friends

Let me give an example: Hunt Showdown. You play 3 vs 3, or 2 vs 2. You can go solo agains duos and gain "underdog" bonus, or agains trios and get super "underdog" bonus. So solo is officially left for streamers, tryhards and challengers. Everyone fine with that. Why just simply acknowledge the same thing in DbD?

That awkward "you kinda can play Solo, but kinda can't" is really disorienting.

    Another thing that stumbles me

Why many perks switches off at the EGC? It's like "You lose, but you can play well and go to the end, and then lose anyway". Why? Why killer is obliged to have win? There's some quota?

It is not that killer is obligated to win so much as you are not gifted a free escape merely because you brought the perk. Free escapes is NOT how they should be balancing the game and the fact that you even suggest that invalidates the point you are trying to make to begin with.

  • If it was Ace, was it truly luck? I mean, he literally has a perk that helps him do that. Hatch not withstanding, but honestly? Those always spawn right by survivors in my experience. Which is fine by me, because if I want them all dead for a challenge, I slug. Otherwise they can have it.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

When was the last time you seriously used a mist offering?

To be fair, I would use them if they actually did something.

  • Whenever killers get cocky, I wish we could return to the days of stringent mmr again. I would prefer reading their tears to whatever nonsense this is.

  • There is no hype. Survivors just hate playing against it. It is not magically good, if that is what you were hoping.

  • I see he uses the yes meta. I personally use the no meta. I also bought an outfit to swag on survivors with my drip. This guy was an amateur. And not one BM chainsaw. I give him a 9/10.

  • Lithe is my go to just because it is almost always useful. Maybe it is not as impactful as some other exhaustion, but I always get value out of it. Honorable mention to Adrenaline. One of the most underrated perks of all time... Somehow.

  • I have to admit, I have been struggling a bit with the self care nerf. I actually couldn't save someone in time because the heal took so long. They died right as I made it; and I took the hit to get there faster for a hook trade. It is insane how bad self care is now. All those people saying I was throwing games for running it, well, they were wrong then. But now? Maybe they are onto something.

  • I only care about fun, though. And honestly, it is far less fun. I do not really care about power, and neither does any survivor. If they did, they would zip it because survivor is STILL overtuned.

  • That is a great idea if you are good at running and want to get tunneled. Most boosted flashlight users are not actually great at looping in my experience. So... They leave the game relatively fast.

No one is gonna take someone that says swf is cheating seriously.

Why not? People take the developers saying that killers doing their objective is holding the game hostage and survivors refusing to do their objective is being held hostage. Who cares what "people" take seriously? Most of them are a bit dim.

Behavior should add voice chat and make it a feature. Why it is not is anyone's guess.

just do 90seconds gens with deadlock? Otzdarva and Dowsey proved you can facecamp two people to death before all gens are finished

Well, it depends on when the first person is caught. Maybe predrop against Bubba so you aren't caught in the first minute? Lol.

  • I have a special relationship with the developers, they listen to my feedback more than other people. They understand it is important to have one killer with a face camp niche to cater to my unique, never before seen, playstyle. Sorry. But I am going to keep telling them they are doing a pretty good job so far. No free unhooks for you, Otz.

  • I have not, but I would be totally fine if it were true. Spirit is easy to counterplay, in my opinion.

but eh, i guess i'm just wasting my efforts if i want a game fair for both sides and that i actually proved with valid examples my thoughts.

  • Imagine if the more you repaired a gen, the more your Tamagotchi grows. That would be sick.

  • Survivors love Leatherface, they all secretly hope to be the first one found. The other survivors get so jealous if they were not the forever girl and I rarely see them until the end. Shame. Everyone deserves to have fun.

There is no way you could get blinded if you were facing straight towards the wall, you must have picked up the survivor at an angle on accident. that's not a flaw in the mechanic itself, but rather user error. 100% fair to want to bring lightborn to not have to deal with having to perfectly align yourself when you pick up survivors, but I think both sides have equal trouble understanding how the flashlight angles work

Well, obviously there had to be some mumbo jumbo angle that they got, but I have seen it from the survivors perspective, it is absolutely possible even if a bit rare. That being said, even without that bug, I would be loyal to my lord and savior just so that I do not need to self consciously hover around the body that I need to pick up. That is cringe. Beyond that, if you play as though you do not have Lightborn, you can save yourself a lot of distance or keep them at unsafe pallets because they get thirsty for the blind when you break, all sorts of little micro mindgames that are not usually possible because of how you have to play around flashlights without it. Not to mention those disgusting double locker set ups. Yucky.

My point being, I feel that flashlights are a bit inconsistent and at times overtuned, I know it is not a popular opinion, but there are a lot of popular opinions that are just objectively wrong. So whatever, it is what it is. That mechanic bothers me, I feel it a flawed, and I run a perk to counter it. That is the same as people bothered by tunneling and find it flawed. It is an apples to apples comparison. I get that you do not agree, but you are wrong. It is fine.

getting blinded by a flashlight isn't a "game mechanic flaw" tho, it's just something you don't personally enjoy. There's a difference there..

Getting blinded TO THE SIDE OF THE HEAD WHILE FACING A WALL. I, personally, consider that a game mechanic flaw. No difference to me compared to how camping and tunneling are just things you do not personally enjoy.

you’re comparing only some games (swf lobbies) to all games (there is a killer in every game) so keep complaining about something that doesn’t even happen every game. Maybe 1 time every 10 matches. There’s a reason killer a is 15 minutes for a lot of people, the solos are leaving, and even a lot of swf

No offense to a lot of people, but my queues are just slightly longer. Not Overwatch dps length.

That being said, they are no longer instant... I will admit, and that does bother me slightly. So I am all for some survivor buffs. Killer nerfs. Idk, whatever appeases the torchbearers.

1 … 14 15 16 17 18 … 131
