  • Learn them. There's no reason not to if you're playing at high levels.

You'll still get off flashlight saves at red rank. You can still use iron will and juke at pallet breaks.

This idea that every red rank killer is a god-tier player is completely untrue.

I would suggest not bringing it into the game though. With the new buffs to lighborn/franklin's that will be coming to live, one of these perks will be taken by many red rank killers the second they see a flashlight in their lobby. Plunderer's is a great option if you're wanting to hunt for flashlights and surprise the killer. But what about "Searching through chests isn't optimal!!!"?? Well, the utility you can get from the higher tier item can be game-changing in the case of a flashlight/key, and time-saving in the case of a medkit/toolbox.

I would agree, but anytime I point out issues that break the game I'm told that's just part of the game. So I guess I fail to understand when we should stand up for a better game or when we should just accept things for the way they are.

This is a little of both. On their own, OoO and Midwitch aren't issues. When used in the way OP experienced, they were used to hold the game hostage and actively ensure the killer is not allowed to play the game as it's intended.

So it doesn't break the game 99.9% of the time, but that .1% feels absolutely terrible and is a ban-able offense.

"Breaking the game" is very specific. Purposefully holding the game hostage while leaving the opposing team with no outs is probably the only legitimate way to break the game's design. Here, OP's only option was to DC or play an endless game of "press W".

10% lnao, so like 1 out of 10. That's such an issue. Game is literally broken.

I don't think anyone has claimed the game is broken?

Even a small issue that breaks the game is still an issue that should be fixed.

In this case, there should be a better way to report players who abuse mechanics in the game to hold the game hostage. The current report system is terrible.

Once again talking down to people for no reason. Great job man.

The point is that this scenario can be created by the SwF at very little cost and can't be avoided by the killer unless you just give them what they want and DC

In situations like that, record your match if you can (since BHVR requires visual proof of said behavior) and report all players involved via the in-game report system in the post-game lobby. That is holding the game hostage and the players can be banned for it.

  • Lmao killer is the most balanced it has been in a LONG time. Playing killer is innately more stressful since you are in a 1v4 scenario and have only your own skill to rely on. If you're having trouble killing survivors, chances are that you are needing to improve your own abilities.

  • The best thing you can do when you see her stand still is to walk or run (depending on the situation) to the next loop.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

Blood trails are even more damning. A killer following blood trails can't be shaked.

I feel blood trails are a bit easier to hide since you can make use of dark grass, bushes, or blood-painted environment. Audio you have very little control over when injured unless you run Iron Will.

From personal experience when playing killer, there is so much to take in visually that I usually resort to audio clues to help track. Blood spatter is what I track with after scratch marks and audio so it's more of a triple check to my hunt.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

Most survivors need to run Iron Will because I always hear "How did they find me?!?"

I mean, the perk is just too strong not to imo. When I play killer, audio clues are the biggest giveaway of a survivor's location. If your goal in a chase is to have a prolonged chase and then escape, Iron Will is extremely beneficial.

My queue times are still consistently at around 15 minutes.

My queue times arent lower so I continue to use the strategy that the game rewards me for doing.

I find a more complete waste of time to be not getting any kills in a game.

I played a lot of survivor until I realized it wasnt really that much fun. I enjoy playing killer and feeling like I'm powerful. I'm currently in a position similar to the nurse before she went insane. Medical field and everything too ironically enough.

But my queue times are still pretty long.

I usually play at around 5 or 6 in the morning before work and maybe at 2 or 3am when i'm off duty or on call. So maybe my hours have something to do with it? I just assumed that there are people playing all over the world so my time is probably peak time for someone somewhere.

lmao 5 or 6am that is literally THE WORST time to queue for killer. That probably has a lot to do with it

  • You said previously in this thread that you are now rank 8, so your queue times should no longer be 15 minutes. Green/Purple ranks are prime matchmaking ranks for killer queue times. If you still feel it takes too long, try playing during peak hours.

With your queue times lower, what is your argument for continuing this strategy?

You already manage to get 1 hook to camp, why not focus on doing that more and getting better with chases? I don't see how camping a hook is any fun or challenging at all after waiting in your supposedly 15 minute queues. Sounds like a complete waste of time and goes against your initial reasons for camping. If your reason that you started camping was to rank up to decrease your queue times, they should be significantly shorter by now. Continuing this skill-less playstyle will only be a detriment to your killer play in the long run. There's no gratification or proof of skill to be earned from this. Sure your rank is getting higher, but everyone including you knows that's not indicative of your actual skill as killer.

I also recommend you play survivor to see learn how to win chases and also to see how terrible it is to encounter a killer wanting to only play the game their way by camping a hook.

To understand and be good at this game, knowing how to play both sides is extremely beneficial.

I wish people just had a nice calm discussion about it without people going into a frenzy. They have to realize the way the franchise was painted for kids is what killed it. And that in reality fnaf is a dark and disturbing game, I wish people could just understand that they just want a horror icon from a game they love to play, but again people just think that its a childish game, people even say this about Bendy and the ink machine, it is a game meant for babies they say. But personally I think it is a unique take on horror and people have to realize that not every horror game is like Resident evil, Last of us, Silent Hill, or Outlast even, they are just a different take on horror.

Dude. So much yes! I think it's also that the Horror genre in general has expanded drastically over the past decade. There are so many different types of horror as opposed to the slasher flicks people grew up with in the 80s and 90s. The old school horror fans seem to have some pretty narrow views of what "is" and "isn't" horror. There's a sense of entitlement and polarization that has come about especially recently with films like The VVitch (hehe my dbd name), Midsommar, and Hereditary where the psychological horror isn't seen as "true horror". Films like The Babadook paved a way for these off-kilter horror entries that seemed to leave people either loving it or hating it.

FNAF is somewhat the same. I'd argue the reason most people enjoy the lore of FNAF so much is how psychologically horrific it is. That horror is not really represented in the games though. Since the horror in FNAF is more psychological, it's divisive and add to that the game's more childish appearance, and you have a recipe for conflicting opinions.

I enjoyed the Candyman movie, but I really think he is extremely boring as a killer. Not interested one bit.

I guess that's how some people probably feel about FNAF

Yeah but if you do have support and love the idea greatly, then great show your appreciation, just done make it into something that is terribly stupid and pointless argueing because it kills the possabilty of it actually happening, and I do want Spreingtrap in the game and others do to, but showing aggression towards those that despise it isn't the way to go.

I agree, but that conversation just isn't happening. The pro FNAF people feel attacked because of the way the other side is conveying their opinion. "Trash, childish jumpscare game made for babies lel". Not much discussion to be had there.

I would love to have a FNAF chapter, but these threads always spiral out of control because of how polarizing the franchise is.

I don't care if others think it is childish and I don't care about the lore. And I don't see any reason why I should "research" the lore when Springtrap looks so stupid. Even if the lore is good and gruesome but the thing looks like a puppy robot, I'm not interested.

Exactly! You shouldn't have to lol

If you dislike it, you dislike it. Some people have looked past the "stupid" looks of the franchise and found something they enjoy.

    That's it.

  • Yeah these threads need to just stop tbh. Each side has merits to their argument because it's all based on opinion. What I see is fans of FNAF that "get it" and people that don't. The people that don't have no interest in understanding or researching the game's lore and see the game at its face value as a childish jump scare fest. It just comes down to "I like this" and "I don't like it". There's really no discussion to be had there. Let's end this pointless posting nonsense. For players that actually want FNAF in the game, this is hurting the cause tbh lol

It's pointless to continue discussions since none of us actually have a say in what BHVR puts into their game.

The entire FNAF series is very childish and campy. It is meant more as a niche concept, not really horror. That is what I hear the most from those who don't like it, and I personally agree with it. I'm not a fan, but I understand why some like it. Again, not trying to insult those who like it, it is just a niche thing is all.

As far as DbD being scary, it loses the fear factor pretty early, but that is more due to the gameplay than anything else.

I'm interested in your thoughts of the animatronic themed killer if BHVR were to re-do it themselves.

    rock-a-fire.jpg

I grew up in the 90s and these animatronic bands were nightmare fuel for me and my brother.

I personally think animatronics are a valid horror trope that, before FNAF, was not commonly explored in the horror genre and might be why so many "old school" horror fans aren't too keen on it. It's still new, and FNAF is not geared towards adults. I personally enjoy the lore of the games since it is very dark if you really get into it, but at face value most people won't see that. All most people see is the "cheap" jumpscares and the younger audience.

  • Iron Will tbh

I'd rather just stay injured until I find a teammate or come across a medkit in a chest or something

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

I got the impression people are more adverse against fnaf in dbd not because of the potential killers, but because of the fandom. cross your heart, the fandom has (had) a very vocal part that rivalled the homestuck fandom in terms of how... invasive (?) they were towards other fandoms etc.

It seems to be more a matter of bad associations in people than actual badness in the franchise.

I feel like opposing a franchise being added because of its fandom is just BS personally. DBD already has a toxic community and I don't see how FNAF would make that any worse. It's just an excuse people use because they find the franchise to be "childish" or "cringe".

  • The fact that you can bait his shred with no penalty is SO underrated.

If this is a post as a respond for the same thread that was made about what is unfun for killers, and I highly believe it is, then I would argue these forums have officially become a new kindergarten.

    Holy hell.

And no, I am not defending the other post, because that post is also ridiculous as is.

It's a forum meme to make a counter post not really anything unique to the dbd forums. Is it childish? Probably.

It's good to get both sides of the conversation though even if the initial reason for posting was a bit childish.

  • Doctor in general. He's just so. damn. annoying. He gets so much utility for free with his abilities and add-ons it's a little too nutty. Skillchecks become harder, free aoe tracking on cd, free tracking via add-ons, impairs the use of items at max insanity.

It's just so much, dude. I hate playing against doctors THE MOST.

I LOVED this event. Would be cool to have reskins not just for claud but for nea too because she also has a beanie. But that's just me

I feel this haha. I got the halos for Nea and Claud since I play them a decent amount, but I HATE their base heads so it would definitely be nice to be able to change that.

  • I find you have to play him with a different mindset if you're looking to torment people. Tormenting mid-loop ensures the survivor either gets tormented or they leave the loop. Other than that, sneaky torments behind LoS in commonly trafficked areas, and dark grass that can hide the visual are prime spots for torment.

What I struggle with as PH is his secondary ability. I can NEVER land it. The delay is just so long and punishing. I actually just give up most games and M1 and fake the ability to apply torment. There's like the smallest opening to hit a survivor after they vault a window or pallet, but I just suck so bad at it still. It feels so punishing compared to a lot of other killers' powers. Demo has no downside to faking his secondary for instance.

  • Iron Will, Lithe, Dance With Me, Quick and Quite or Spine Chill

Houdini build is one of my favorites to run. I usually do a hybrid version of it with D/S for a more aggressive looping build. This build helps you get out of bad situations by giving you the opportunity to mind game at a vault. Breaking LoS with the killer after you vault is key to the disappearance act.

If you're going for stealth though, Iron Will is 100% THE BEST STEALTH PERK. Mandatory as it is insanely strong right now unless you find a spirit with Stridor.

  • @Deathslinger said:

    How about The Banana Splits?!

Whats that? Well it was a variety tv show with silly animal costume characters who wore red hats and played in a band. A old show from 1968 to 1970.

    • Fleegle — A Dog
    • Bingo — Gorilla
    • Drooper — A Lion
    • Snorky — A Elephant

All wearing an amusing assortment of clothes, colors and oddly shaped sunglasses.

Why bring it up? Well these characters got revamped in a horror comedy just last year. See, much like FNAF, these characters are now murder bots with a unique touch of intelligence. Programmed to entertain an audience...except...they learned the show would be cancelled, which means no more audiences and programming malfunction. So they opt to kill those trying to can the show and capture children to force them to watch as they put on a new more treacherous show~

See, now you don’t have to worry about the FNAF kiddies ruining your pretend grown up game and FNAF fans can still get murderous animatronic deathbots. As an added bonus, whenever you in the killers terror radius, you can enjoy their iconic song.

    https://youtu.be/gWAynv_j97U

I thought of this, and I personally just don't really like their designs haha. If it's not FNAF imo, I would much prefer BHVR do their own take on the animatronic theme.

Just because you and some other people think there is no reason, that does not mean it is true. People like different things and even though you tried your best with that wall of text, I still think the game and Springtrap looks like #########. I don't want it and that is a valid reason. You can think whatever you want, so can I. Ultimately it is up to devs and fnaf license holder if they add that thing to game but these tryhard reasoning threads every day just annoys people more. Just like million NOED/DS/TUNNEL/CAMP threads every day.

    See, that's a valid reason!

What is stupid, is discrediting people for liking something they don't understand. The game's lore is dark and very much adult and yet the game is denounced as a childish franchise of jumpscares when it is in reality so much more.

If you don't like it and don't want it because it's not for you, that's your opinion that you're entitled to, but referring to other people as "cringe" or saying they are encouraging "cheap horror" is totally unwarranted and unfounded.

Of course you didn't say any of that, but a lot of the people on here against FNAF see it for something it's not and flame people that enjoy it.

This just shows how uneducated you are when Silent Hill and PH are in discussion. Yet you still havent answered the most important question, his power and you just trying to avoid it lol. If we are talking about the lore there are pretty much better roles in other games that could fit much better. Just another guy with no real arguments fights against community, typical.

I'm going based off your initial reasoning. Pyramid head is never seen putting someone in a cage. Mary is seen in a cage, but if Pyramid head put her in there, it was done off screen which would make the death screen of FNAF an okay power as well. Pyramid head's ranged attack is nowhere in any other game than DBD so completely new.

I've listed plenty of arguments, they just don't fit your idea of a "correct answer" which is a pointless endeavor it seems.

Actually no, PH He is a manifestation of guilt and desire for punishment. No one knows limits for his power, cages are shown also. And you still havent told me his true power. Sorry but i can't agree with you, lore Is myb darker than Demogorgon's and thats about it. Plus PH Is much, much bigger than whole Fnaf, on top of that hlaf community are against it

Pyramid head literally does nothing other than use his giant sword in any of the games or movies. His powers were made up for DBD and yet you can't fathom other made up powers. Using the excuse "no one knows limits of his power" is such bs lmao. Your main argument was that the licensed killers showed their powers is some way in their source media. FNAF does that MORE than Pyramid head does in their source material.

The rest of what you stated is you spiraling, grasping at straws for any reason you see fit for FNAF to not be included. Typical.

  • @Maperson said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1441040#Comment_1441040

Well licensed killers all have power they shown, gf stalk enemies, myers also etc etc.. Fnaf does not, its just poor jumpscare. Well they are all much better, bigger and make more sense than in my opinion child's game like fnaf

It's essentially shown in the first game. Your death screen is your eyeballs popping out of an animatronic suit. I mean, Pyramid head has all new powers in DBD and literally none of them other than his sword were from his game. That pretty much debunks your entire argument.

"Child's game" Okay, I see your real reasoning.

Sure the gameplay and merch are geared towards a younger audience, but the lore and story are very much adult and imo darker than most licensed horror icons currently in the game.

  • Is that bad?

Like, to enjoy a franchise and campaign for it to be in one of your favorite games is a bad thing now?

Y'all can hate on the franchise for your own personal reasons, but just because you don't appreciate it, doesn't make it bad. That screams just as much bias as well.

  • @Maperson said:

Okay, tell me what Is his real power? Don't made up some power, tell me what did he show in that game? Tell me the map? Besides that, i think there are still horror movie icons that should go first.

The animatronics see any human as an animatronic endoskelleton that is out of it's mechanical suit. They try to "correct" this by stuffing any human into a suit filled with gears, wires, and sharp metal essentially killing them Iron Maiden style.

That can be worked into a power in many ways.

Also, there's no reason older genre icons should come before newer ones. That's just your opinion.

  • If they can make it work aesthetically, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be added.

There were plenty of people that were annoyed we got Pyramid head instead of other "classic" killers like Pennywise, Hellraiser, Alien, etc.

    Just enjoy the game tbh

  • When I play survivor, I play around the idea that the killer might have bbq, bloodwarden, noed, or discordance. These are perks that affect how the current match is played greatly and require some preemptive thought to combat and deductive reasoning to establish. They require the survivors to play a certain way to counteract them while showing no indication that they are in play other than interpreting the killer's play style.

    ---

When playing killer, I do the same for DS, BT, Unbreakable, Adrenaline, and Dead-hard. If you play around them, they completely lose their effectiveness and become empty perks. Extremely high risk and high reward, but that implies you give them the option to use them.

I have knowledge, at this point Im thinking its you who is lacking a bit or driven in a corner when called out on your own (seemingly bs) claims.

Gotta love how you think your opinion on what is or isnt well written is an "education" for other people, talk about a high horse....

You made a statement, Im asking you to follow up on that and I get absolutely nothing, soooo are you afraid or ashamed that maybe what you want to bring forward as being so "extremely well written" is actually just generic, done to death, crap?

Like I love the movie Event Horizon, plenty of it is mighty silly but the concept that what we perceive/imagine is Hell is actually a place that is just really far away from here that can be reached with a space ship, that to me was pretty excellent and thought provoking writing for that movie, but again plenty of it is bad and I can go on about a lot of things in this same manner.

So again, I ask you to put your money where you mouth is and provide some of that "extremely well written" story of FNAF.

Again you prove my point. Why would I try to convince you of something that is subjective? I can't convince you the game's lore is "extremely well-written", but to me and many others, it is.

I'm referring to you not having knowledge of the game's lore. If you are judging the game by it's gameplay and young audience without knowing what it's actually about, that's on you.

I don't feel driven into a corner at all. I'm just not going to sit here and explain the entirety of FNAF lore to someone who already has made up their mind.

If you actually care to learn about it, there are plenty of youtube videos available to you.

This is about you making claims, this is YOUR opinion on it, and considering how easily you reduced the story of known characters currently in dbd to being so basic its ridiculous, im quite interested in what you consider so, again, "extremely well written".

You've already proven my point. You have no knowledge of the game's lore and have already made up your mind on the franchise as a whole. It's not my job to educate you lol.

I doubt most of them are even people to be honest.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1431898#Comment_1431898

Yeah because thats the story of anything currently in dbd...

But go ahead, what is so "extremely well-written" then?

You can do your own research. You use google I assume?

  • I'm a 30 year old man that has only played the first FNAF game, but have seen MatPat's lore videos on the whole series. All the edge lords hating on FNAF because "kids play the games" are completely discrediting the horror story within the franchise. The lore is honestly the best part and is extremely well-written by Scott. It's tiers above "spooky man in mask hunts teens for fun". Get off your high horses 🙄

  • New ruin can be just as strong tbh. As long as your applying enough pressure, you get arguably more use out of new ruin.

  • You can go a full game without using DS for a slew of reasons. Anti-tunnel perk that is on a cooldown... I see no issue.

BT is anti-camp and tunnel. Aka, if you don't play like a d-bag, you won't even be bothered by it. If someone unhooks in your face, maybe go for the unhooker?

Sprint Burst, and Dead Hard are good perks, but are easily countered and have their downsides.

A super try-hard survivor might have 3 of these perks maximum, but running two exhaustion perks in the same build is near pointless. Even in a game where multiple survivors are running DS, BT, + exhaustion perk, all the killer has to do is play around the assumption of DS/BT and remember who has which exhaustion perk. That's it. You have your own strong killer perks at your disposal in conjunction with killer power, moris, and add-ons.

Both sides have insanely strong build potential, but in the end it's up to the individual players to outplay each other using whatever they have at their disposal.

  • It's double iridescent, it should be pretty op tbh. I think it's fine.

  • "Oh no I can't see where I'm sending this survivor so I can go camp uwu!"

You don't HAVE to send survivors to a cage should you deem it unfavorable. Just remember that y'all.

This literally does nothing except remove scummy play.

  • Been loving my Cheryl build:

Lithe: This is my choice exhaustion perk and is useful wherever there is a window or pallet. Killers can sometimes drop chase once it's used as they see chasing you as a waste of time.

Plunderer's Instinct: Possibly my favorite perk right now. Being able to loot chests for that clutch skeleton key, purple medkit, or flashlight is one of the best feelings in the game. I have gotten hatch twice in situations where I would have most certainly been killed since I started using this perk. I also have gotten some clutch flashlight saves. If I find an item i don't need, I just leave the higher rarity item in the open chest for an ally to pick up should they need it. The utility of this perk is insanely underrated imo.

Decisive Strike: I like running this perk when I play with my lower rank friends. The lower rank of the killer, the more likely it will come in handy. If I was playing solo queue, I would probably replace this perk with Iron Will or Unbreakable

Blood Pact: This imo is a stronger empathy and a GREAT solo queue perk. It sacrifices being able to see all injured survivors' auras for both you and the obsession being able to see each other if one of you is injured. Your ally being able to see your location is some great utility for solo queue.

  • Strengths: She has insane snowball potential with corrupt purge, decent stall potential with vile purge, and can hit multiple targets at range via corrupt purge. She has easy tracking when in auditory range of players afflicted by sickness. Her sickness is a direct counter to iron will. If players refuse to cleanse, she has insta-downs. .

Weaknesses: She is countered by line of sight. If she's getting looped correctly, it's extremely hard for her to break a survivor with vile purge, and thus she turns into a M1 killer at times. Fountains locations aren't always convenient if the survivors are smart about where they cleanse.

  • I'm really enjoying the houdini build (Lithe, Quick and Quiet, Dance with Me, and Iron Will) against him. He wants to camp pallets and vaults. Bait out his power while dodging it, then fast vault over a pallet or through a window and disappear into thin air.

  • I am wanting a banshee type killer so bad! A killer that uses sound to instill fear and possibly as their power.

A traditional banshee would probably be way too boring, but a La Llorona killer could be a nice way to incorporate both the banshee themes and the folklore of La Llorona.
