That 50k BP cost, assuming you're playing normally, is 2-3 matches to earn. And you basically get nothing in return. I was the weird killer who never prestiged because I was never a fan of Prestige cosmetics. So for me spending 50k is a net loss, when my primary goal is to get as many perk options as possible on my killer to be effective in a match. This new system didn't do anything except cut the grind down for killers who only have 2 or 3 perks left to max out prior to prestige. Other killers who still have quite a ways to go get a small boost from level 1-15 (still only getting 1 perk per web though), then from there its back to business as usual dumping points. Just getting a feel of it from the PTB itself, it didn't reduce the grind. On top of that, killers who you didn't max out prior to this, will have to prestige all the way up for your more experienced killers to get their T3 perks. So, you're gonna have to go back and then dump boost 3 times as much BP on killers you may not even play to make up for the incoming loss to teachables.

And I'm not even gonna mention the ridiculous raised price of Iridescent shard perks.....

Devs can sometimes blow smoke up our asses, but this, sets up people to be chimneys.....

I never prestiged a char, got all perks or most of them in the Killers I have and I have no idea how much blood points I used. Gotta tell you, only few perks are worth it.

So, after the changes , and after leveling Trickster to 50 I prestiged it. To earn whatever rewards they give to people who did.

I even put a thread here recently before the update where I literally asked if it was stupid to prestige. Which it is, the cosmetic ain't worth it.

Thats true. Most people are selfish and don´t think of the others.

Unlike Survivors going to the basement against a Bubba.

Tunneling most certainly does exist. As does camping. They're both valid strategies, of course, but changing the names of said strategies doesn't erase them from existence.

So "protection hits" instead of body blocking or lurking around the hook is just right but going for a kill as killer is tunneling.

Ok, well, make it so the Killer has to touch a wall and count to 10 before it can attack, maybe next patch.

What other pathetic excuses will you make? Is this photoshop or did I borrow someone's legacy account in those 3 minutes that I conveniently had lying around?

Hope you feel ashamed and won't respond anymore, it would really help

Doing bloodwebs does not mean #########.

I also have my chars at max level, even the freaking Trickster that I have barely played.

The point stands: it will make camping and tunnel more difficult because it will.

I camp and I tunnel and I can tell you that much.

    100% this.

When I saw the update I thought to myself ''lets play alot before the update goes live''. I played 1 round this week and I was done.

Killrates are above 50%, meanwhile the devs stated in the update that they want the killrates higher, so the killer feels more ''scary''.

They don't understand their own game after 5 years, I'm out.

I know I won't be missed but I must say I've been enjoying my time 10times as much playing other games the past week.

You don't know what the kill rates are. Don't lie please.

Link the actual data from devs.

lmao, you are so wrong with your guesses it's hilarious.

I'm literally a legacy nurse player with pretty much every killer maxed out, I know a lot about killers and I guarantee you that with the new patch tunneling&camping would go rampant with DS nerfs and a lot of discouragement not to tunnel in the first place.

But sure, keep coping and making futile attempts to dismiss my opinion by trying to call me biased, that is a telltale sign of your weak position.

Yeah, yeah. Everyone is a legacy Nurse these days. Specially Survivors.

Like I said, I play killer since flashlights blinded you in real life and *today* 99% of matches. Yes, with Nurse too.

And it will make it more complicated. It will. Period.

  • @Ruma said:

it's hilarious that whenever killer/survivor mains run out of arguments they pull out "we're the harder side" card. It's pathetic.

It is an objective fact tunneling&camping are more efficient wtih this patch and the fact you refuse to acknowledge it is sad.

I tunnel and camp (fantasy terms but ok) all day long and the patch will make it more complicated.

You are a main Survivor who does not know the Killer gameplay beyond the two matches per month against absolute noob Survivors.

Play Killer only for like a year, then we talk.

lmao call it whatever you want, it's still tunneling and camping.

By the way, it is not called "body blocking", it's called "strategic protective hits".

Exactly, "protective hits" is what you always read from survis. But killing a guy is called "tunneling".

I always found ironic when a full team with Decisive Strike complains about the so incorrectly called "tunneling".

Like I said, those terms are fantasy and do not exist.

  • Play killer then. Let's see how long until you decide to go back to Survivor. LOL.

    1) Tunneling does not exist, it's called playing Killer.

    2) Camping is called "guarding" and it's a valid strategy like any other. Plus Survivors other than the one in the hook actually love it, it kicks their dopamine level while they body block, rescue, etc.

Where did you get it about the nurse? Same logic for "no one play artist", "No one play Dredge" and "No one use boons"

These are all very generic stuff but depend on the character being purchased. The ones I put belong to BASE killers and BASE mechanics.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    The Locker-Achievement is brand-new.

But in general, the number of completions does not really mean anything. Because not everyone who bought this game actually played it. And those who started it might not even played one match. And those who played one match might have only played for 2 hours and never touched it again.

The stats are a percentage, thus, it does not really matter. Because of the same, a lot of players played when it was "free weekend".

Look at this, if "not all players play it" how come Survivor role based achievement have a 21% like the one below?

    Screenshot 2022-07-02 200213.png

Tunneling know in the community is where a killer goes out of their way to kill one survivors... Even if teammates body blocks or takes downs for you... Your literally saying that looping is unhealthy for the game... ITS THE FU****G INTENDED WAY!!!!!!! Tunneling isn't really intended and therefore survivors are given perks to prevent tunneling becuase well if you tunnel someone its a guaranteed win unless your new to the game like you can literally get someone out 3 minutes into the game then you have 2 or 0 people working on gens... Never said tunneling was wrong all i said is that ITS NOT INTENDED... No matter where you look there are NO PERKS NO POWERS that suggests you to tunnel someone out... There are even perks on both killer and survivor that favours not tunneling... You need to wash your eyes and read the damn comment instead of making up hocus pocus things...

Tunneling is a thing, camping is a thing genrushing is not a thing if you ask me... or well kinda depends if everyone brings BNP, overzealous, prove thyself, resilience and other gen perks i can meet you in the middle and call that gen rushing but doing gens is not genrushing... Same as downing someone twice in a row isnt tunneling...

But sure give me 3 reasons why looping is unhealthy and should be removed this would make you have to hold W instead which you said i wanted for some reason when you literally want to remove the only thing survivors can do to avoid the killer xd

"But sure give me 3 reasons why looping is unhealthy"

    - Survivors taunt Killers that way pallet+flashlight (making waste nearly a gen per safeloop and pallet). Toxic.

    - Killer is meant to be the power role, extreme looping and pallets makes it impossible to apply pressure on generators in large maps. Unhealthy.

    - Too many second chance perks for looping to be so easy and powerful, again, 4vs1 with four powerroles against a poor Killer. Unhealthy.

  • Do the totems first or play Killer. That way you will not come here to cry because you were outplayed.

NOED is a perk to be used end game, nothing wrong with it. The killer was playing with 3 perks the whole game.

I have probably more hours on Killer alone than many others in DBD in total. Including all Killers on P3-50 with all Perks.

But hey. I must be lying.

You dont need stats to know that Nurse is broken.

@Topic: Saying that Nurse is the only viable Killer is really wrong. Every Killer in the game can win against the majority of Survivors. Nobody in this forum will encounter teams which are only beatable with Nurse on a constant basis.

You haven't played Killer at all, probably.

Play Nurse and show us how broken it is in 20 matches.

  • Killers should 4k most of the time and reward Survivors for doing things, then extra if one - by luck - manages to escape.

But the design is the opposite, hence the problem. No Killer is powerful.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

For the attack cooldown im really worried its just going to make camping easier, especially against console players.

but im more worried about the Speed boost nerf after getting hit those .3 seconds will make a lot of difference.

if the changes were one or the other i think it would be fine

attack cooldown buff but keep current Speed boost after hit or something

The pallet breaking speed is fine but combined with the other 2 it feels like it will make a HUGE diffrence

    but i guess well see

I really like the gen damage tho.

    Play Killer. Else don't complain.

  • @Pepsidot said:

If you've ever played against a basement Trapper you know how boring, tedious and frustrating it is when you are hooked in the basement or are trying to get the save. Well, it's about to be buffed. Next patch:

    • You won't be able to DH through traps.
    • Each generator will take +10 seconds longer.
    • Monstrous shrine will be buffed meaning basement trappers can use hooks in the basement for Pain Resonance and survivors could die 20% faster with some nifty proxy camping.

Now imagine Trappers using Agitation, Iron Grasp/Deadlock, Monstrous Shrine, Pain Resonance. With bloody coil addon (injures you upon disarming). Now imagine a teammate is hooked in shack basement. Your solo queue, there is no coordination between survivors. Gens are taking longer, teammates are dying faster and there is no chance anyone is getting out the basement without DS.

    Awful, right?

TLDR; The next patch buffs camping, not good.

    Extra rambling:

Even if you somehow disarm a trap and get the unhook without being killed... by the time you're back up the basement stairs the trapper would have already reset his traps. Now there's NO possible escape because of the DH nerf. You're dead and so is the unhooked survivor unless they have Decisive Strike.

The only thing the Trapper needs to do is get one early(ISH) down somewhat close to the basement and camp from there.

You can still tell your friends on Discord where the Killer is, and where the traps are. They can remove them for you.

As for the save, don't go to the basement.

In short, git gud. You are complaining about the easiest Killer by far. A slow and clunky M1 Killer that can't but loop and eat pallets.

I would like to see *YOU* playing Trapper.

  • @FlameGNG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3028499#Comment_3028499

tunneling is unhealthy i mean sure its a strategy but you have perks that make it so you dont have to tunnel to be viable... infact you have perks that discourage tunneling and camping on both sides... How is looping unhealthy? like thats what your suppose to do as a survivor but sure you hate dbd i guess probably wants the game to die out(its a joke dont get mad)... So in your perfect world a good survivors holds W on a flat and long line while the killer does the same ;)

in the world you are describing 2 gens pop while the 1st Survivor presses W and you chase him by the time it´s hooked. In your ideal Survivor world you can loop a tree or a random rock forever and then go from pallet to pallet without even having to reason about it.

Fact is, there is no such thing as tunneling, your goal as Killer is to kill 4 people in the match and the order does not matter.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3025113#Comment_3025113

I had a 4k on my first try, a 2k on my second try, a 3k on my 3rd and a 1k on my 4th try(people hid all game, the game lasted nearly 4 minutes before I finally found my first survivor because a generator popped, popping 3 gens right after, because they waited untill I continued my patrol to start working on gens). I only used the recharge addons and tier 1 slowdown perks.

You dont need to be good, you get plenty of tries to down. The only time you'd lose, is 3 man SWFs, who you do not encounter untill you've basically played 50+ games, which is plenty to learn her basics and start using the distance addons. Especially in combination with recharge addons. That means you have to wait a tiny bit longer, but you blink faster to your target, giving them less time to react.

So really, your point is kinda moot. Nurse has entered the realm where she is very hard to master, sure, but her addons and current perks make it easy enough to simply spam your ability untill you hit. The past 5 games against Nurse were games where Nurse was literally carried by her addons and perks. She wasnt good, fell for every mindgame, but mindgames dont really matter if the walls are super thin and there are no thick trees, because she can just blink once nearby, and if you're not within lunge range, you blink again and you'd be within lunge range before the survivor even has a chance to use any counterplay that works against basekit Nurse.

Since her addons basically give her no counterplay in chase, her perks can be focussed on either information or gen slowdown.

Assuming you are not lying, which you likely are. You clearly don´t play Killer often so you were playing literally against bots. I do get 4k playing against noobs.

Get 4K consistently and then we talk. Also, proof or it never happened.

  • @Cybil said:

IMO they just seem so useless. They're supposedly game changing but can be cleansed before you have a chance to utilize them. Sometimes I see killers running undying which forces them to dedicate half of their build to one single hex perk. Why even bother at that point?

They are all useless. The only one that stands is NOED until end game.

Undying SOMETIMES is nice early game on some maps to reveal Survivors, that´s it. It will get removed fast.

  • If anyone thinks this game is or can ever be an e-sport... I mean, seriously uninstall the game and starting thinking in doing something with your life, maybe uninstalling allows you to see the bright side of things.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

It's been a lot of fun, and I'll probably poke my head back in for Halloween, but I'm starting to burn out here.

I really do enjoy playing killer, as frustrating and stressful (and occasionally demeaning) as the role can be, and the changes upcoming in the overhaul do sound rather positive for the most part, but solo queue survivor is miserable right now, with basically every second killer either cable pulling the second the game starts going sideways or hard camping/slugging at the first opportunity (seriously, both sides DC far, far too much and it ruins games).

On the other side of things, killer queues are now lurking somewhere between 4 and 6 sodding minutes. So something is definitely squiffy somewhere, and I don't think that the band-aid of bonus BP will be making things much better.

While the upcoming changes are going to make the balance between SWF and killer a little better (although OTR is going to need a nerf), it's going to be far worse for solos, especially with the newly buffed Knockout encouraging an already frustratingly effective 'anti-solo' tactic.

This isn't meant to be a rote 'I'm quitting unless you change x' post, more of a fond farewell to the fantastic forum folks that I will for sure miss, and again, this is more a 'ja ne' than a 'sayonara', because...man, I need a break from this game.

We'll see what things look like later this year - but I'm done at the first sight of any 'pumpkin suits' come Halloween.

I have only seen a Killer disconnect once. In thousand(s) hours.

I have seen disconnect Survivors a lot, they won't take any humiliation. Rage quit aplenty.

  • Macro nurse? XDDDDDD hilarious.

More made up stuff from Survis.

  • @ZeroEthics said:

So, I don't mean this to be snide, just an observation, but you didn't need perk reworks to play "off meta" killers. You could have done that anytime you wanted. Just because some popular streamer comes out with a Tier list and says "this killer is low tier", doesn't mean you have to let that affect how you play.

There are a mass of amazing players who decimate full tourney level SWF's with "low tier" killers. They do it by putting in the work, and the time. By learning the maps, learning the the mechanics, the footwork, the mind games.

Also, don't let survivors dictate the rules to you. Do you think survivors/SWF's say to each other, "Hey guys, lets not rush the Gens and blind the killer, because that wouldn't be fun game-play for him". Of course not, they want to WIN, and they will do whatever it takes to do it. So don't let them shame you for doing the same. Camp/Tunnel/Slug, whatever it takes.

I play Trapper probably more than any other killer. Coordinated SWF's in communication, usually hand me my ass...just being honest. However, the other 80+% of the time, I'm getting the 4K. I've had this game for like 3 weeks, am player level 83, and Iri ranked.

That statement is not meant as a flex, as I know there are thousands of better players than me. The point is, if I can do that in 3 weeks by putting in the time and the work, imagine what you could have done by now if you had ignored the "meta" and just played what you wanted.

Good news is it's never too late! Play the killer you want to play, the way YOU want to play it....and have fun!

See you in the Fog m8. Cheers!!

Absolutely, always go for merciless Killer, slug, camp, NOED, whatever it takes.

That's what I do, don't care of they drop items or want to escape, if I see the hatch. I close it.

Instead of making perks with an cool idea legit and strong they nerf good and legit perks just to change the meta?

Not recognizing that people choose "meta perks" because they are good at what they should do?

Take Detectives Hunch. When it was released no one was playing it because it was bad af. Nowadays it's good and you can add so much coordination to a solo team.

or Windows of Opp. What it was released it was so bad and boring. Now it's legit. It's good and fun to play.

so WHY are they killing them? Iron Will. Iron Wil lwas asbolutely fine and so fun to play. And they nerf it because they don't like people having fun with it? Or Spine Chill? They removed a perk from the game (technically) just to "change the meta".

We asked you to change the meta in order to change perks or buff the idea of a perk so it becomes playable.

Lets take a random perk: Solodarity. Why is no one playing it. Because it's bad. Because it's boring. If it would increase the speed you heal others by lets say 50% or 75% way more people would like to play this perk. Because it adds an dynamic playstyle. Making things faster, more efficient.

We'll make it. The Killer can still be ut of TR and still make it back to the hook and chase the unhooked. If it was like 300% for like 20 seconds way more people would like to run it because the incentive of the perk would actually work out. The live-version doesn't work and perks like BT instead are working out.

I hope you take back the Iron Will/ Selfcare / Spine Chill changes. It doesn't makes any sense. If you want new meta perks then make boring, weak and unworthy perks worth it to run them. But telling people how to play the game and nerf playstyles just because people like playing certain ways is NOT okay.

Another Survivor crying. Git Gud or play Killer.

  • @Mazoobi said:

    This patch was something...

But it seems like there's no acknowledgment for solo que at all. So self-care having a high pick-rate justified it being gutted, stomped, and thrown to the dumpster? Oh okay sure.

Killers getting general improvements, but nothing to help solo's? The mini base-kit BT will do VERY little if not nothing in a solo group.

When can we expect to have changes that are suppose to bridge the gap between solo's and swf's? This gap is responsible for the balance too.

Remove SWF or play Kill Your Friends.

    Problem solved.

  • @Lancifer said:

So as we all know a lot of meta perks on both sides were changed. While I do not agree with how they changed some of these (both killer and survivor), I'm really sad to see one of them; spine chill.

For context I've been playing for a bit (3000hr) and have been doing fine. I'm very hard of hearing and I've been using spine chill to compensate. Without spine chill, I don't hear the terror radius until the killer is on top of me, and even then it's still kinda quiet. Im on Xbox and have my game volume maxed. I don't love complaining about accessibility in video games as not every game has to cater to my disability. However, no one was complaining about spine chill and SC bridges the gap between me and my fellow survivors.

Just kinda scared that unless I'm working on a gen in the open (like on farm maps), I won't hear the killer until I can see the red stain.

And people who play Survivor with Spotify in the background given how easy and relaxing is to play Survivor.

  • @DoritoHead said:

It'll absolutely be less useful in many situations, but I think that it will remain what caused it to be such a big problem in the first place- a perk that allows survivors to get away when they should go down.

The most obvious problem is that if there's no queue for it to activate such as a special animation, then killers will not know if it's active or not. I really hope they keep its animation, as weird as it would look when moving at normal speed.

Secondly, New DH can in some cases guarantee survivors won't go down at pallets or windows. Although it's niche and the timing must be just right, If the survivor anticipates that they will go down, all they need to do is press E before vaulting the window or pallet. In addition, Dh will still be able to prevent being hit by projectiles and be even more effective than before in the case of Trickster, Bubba, Billy, Pig, Blight, Oni and Nurse because instead of dodging a hit, you take the hit instead and get a speed boost.

All that being said, I certainly think that DH won't be as problematic or unhealthy as before- for Certain killers at least. M1 killers will definitely benefit from this change.

I think it will, personally, the dashing was the unfair bit.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

As for Blight, I just don't get that Killer. Feels like a M1, runs fast but totally out of control. There is something I am missing with that Killer.

  • @Zeon_99 said:

For solo queue, get ready for teammates to follow the killer for the entirety of the 80 seconds instead of doing gens or progressing the game in any meaningful way. Very similar to the flashlight kids who follow you and the killer for the entire chase and don't do anything of value.

For killers, get ready for someone with the perk to swoop in during your chase and body block you to force you to hit them.

A lot of the past changes that they’ve that nobody was asking for were annoying, but I was able to live with them. This change has fully 100% confirmed that BHVR do not listen to their player base. It was the final straw for me and I think it’s time to take a nice long break.

    Survivor main detected :D

  • But do you know the stuff you can do in the extra 10s for a gen? like... you can even walk from one gen to another or even check a locker.

  • "Killer players are tenacious,"

While Killer players might take that as a compliment, it falls short from the reality.

The word you were looking for is sadomasochistic.

Honestly, I alter my play depending on the players. =) If you're being an ass, I will be an ass. Continuous body blocking/flash lighting = tunneling. Using Boil Over + dead zones = babysitting/slugging to make sure you're dead. Camping means I will stay on the hook to make sure everyone does gens and you don't get a 4K. Insidious means Imma kill myself so I can't be used as bait.

If everyone plays nice, I try to get 2 hooks on everyone, or at least let 1-2 people go.

Again your goal as Killer is to kill 4 survivors by whatever means. You may as well cheat if you are just going to fake your play and let them go.

That´s what breaks the game, the stupid challenges enforcing fake play and people allowing entitled Survivors escape.

Survivors always try to escape unless they are doing a stupid challenge.

Lol "no way to fix it" , if you increase repair time increase hook timer accordingly for a start, they're just gonna buff facecamp for no reason...

If I was them I would focus on destroying facecamp as a playstyle it's the worst thing in this game, really pathetic. I don't know why they want higher kill rates so badly when it's already very common to die in solo Q, insane if you ask me, btw this whole event killer queue was insanely long and survivor queue instant

Well it seems not to be true that "it's already very common to die in solo Q,".

In short, you are wrong, and that is why they said quite literally that on avg the Kill rate is low.

  • "Corrupt is still good and it does its job. "

What job? defer the start of the game 120s? If you cannot Kill with it, what´s the point.

"PLEASE don’t form opinions about the changed gen speeds until you’ve actually played."

I absolutely like that they have increased that, I have suggested that long time ago, but 10s is literally irrelevant. 20-30 would start to change the meta.
