For me it was the RPD map. Having played the original RE 2 and then the remake of it all these years later made playing on that map in DBD a special experience for me. I think I've used probably a hundred RPD map offerings so far and never pass them up in the blood web. Now all we need is a Mr. X skin for Nemesis to make playing on the RPD map even more fun.
I still don't get why everyone hates the map. I think it's surprising how much it works in DBD. I mean it ain't perfect but still works quite well and visually simply is the best looking map in the game. Besides the orange bubbles. 1 thing an wish was in it though was a secret spot like on Midwich where they have the clock tower opening. I would make it so the generator in the main hall, unicorn room, and the library activate one of the medallions to be place in the statue in the main hall. Once all are fitted, it opens up the secret room with A chest in it that will hold an ultra rare item.
A lot of people want Mr. X as a skin but honestly they are too different. It's the same thing like people wanting Birkin or Lady D as a skin. They could only fit as whole new killers to make more sense. None of them really run or have tentacles or mutate from zombies or whatever.

The trick is don't focus fully on doing the gen and keep your camera moving around scouting for stealth killers and that reduces the jump scares.
That's what I'm always doing. That's what gets me nervous. I have to pay more attention and sometimes it still doesn't help as they can come from behind something if they are smart.

Calling it Biohazard is an alpha move.
My favorite part of the chapter is the possibility of finding all the leg they shaved off of Nemesis to make him fit in the game.
I plan on using them to make myself even taller.
That was actually an accident. I was just looking at some RE stuff and was thinking of the name Biohazard and just went on autopilot and typed that.
That's a great event idea... Hmm...

With no extra BP from perks this may incentive people to play out matches a bit more instead of trying to escape or kill as fast as humanly possible.
Well I actually doubt that's gonna happen.

In the case of completionists like yourself, and kinda myself, yes the grind has been substantially increased. Between the removal of both BBQ and WGLF bloodpoint bonuses, it's going to take much more to get to those higher prestiges and earn those cosmetics/charms. Personally, I know I'm not going to run the charms so I'm not sweating those, but I love the prestige cosmetics. For some characters, that's their only cosmetic or only GOOD one. So it is kind of a bummer to hear "Yeah you need to prestige 6 times to get those rewards from now on and oh btw now you will need to rely solely on puddings/cakes/codes/grade reset in order to reach those goals quicker." I get the main point of all this was to decrease the perk grind, but I'd rather they hadn't messed with the bloody cosmetic rewards in doing so.
That's exactly what I mean. The perk grind being reduced is awesome and all but the bloody cosmetics should have just stayed the same. They were fine as is. It was only the perk grind that was a problem.

It's kind of a jerk move to just call people a fool for prestiging. There was a reason to do it and people did it.

I would want Gordon as a survivor. I think his design would stand out with that blue shirt. Kinda like he clearly stands out in the bathroom on the map.

I don't know why everyone is scared of DBD it's not scary at all.. It's horror themed but doesn't fell that way it's more like a tag & hide and seek simulator, the engine and the graphics and the gameplay isn't scary and knowing that the killer is just another play makes it less scary too.
I didn't say the game was scary. I don't know what you mean by everyone either. Not everyone does. I mean the majority don't. The stealth killers do make me very nervous though is what I was saying. It feels different when they could just pop out of nowhere.

The Nemesis has the best chase music. It makes me feel like I'm in an action movie every time he chases me.
Well it does fit a monster with rocket launcher and that busts through walls. Obviously he doesn't do hat in this game specifically but it's probably still part of his story.

The last Ghostface music was by far the best. Second would be Triangle Man's old tune. I understand why it was changed (the metalic noises made it hard to listen to audio queues) but it was simply awesome.
Yeah I actually agree. His old theme was much more horror sounding and creepy. Those sounds always freaked me out.

Because the point of grind reduction and progression in general is about perks and other gameplay aspects, not cosmetics. The cosmetics exist as a reward for grinding, so it makes sense they'd still take a while to get to.
You're also gonna have role queue incentives to help out with BP gain, on top of offerings. I don't think BP gain is going to go down that much, you just won't get it from BBQ anymore.
I never really used BBQ.

Honestly my top 4 choices(that aren't a tyrant as they could used as legendary skins for Nemesis) would be jack baker, William phase 1, lady dimitrescu and the hunter
No Tyrant could be a legendary skin as Nemesis. Making them a legendary skin is like making Lady D or something as a legendary skin. It doesn't make a single bit of sense.

I want Nemesis to be buffed by giving him and instadowning rocket launcher and being able to run in short bursts which to travel to places quickly and can be used in chase since his movement would be fine.

As I said, in-universe Wesker is very important, but outside of it? I 100% disagree. I'll tell you, before I got into Re, I had absolutely no clue who Wesker was; I had never even heard of him. If anything, I was told to avoid Re5 and 6 (especially 6) because they weren't nearly as good as the rest of the games in the franchise. I had primarily heard people talk about Mr. X, Nemesis, and Jack Baker. (More so the first two).
Also, him being "iconic" doesn't fix that I think he doesn't fit in DbD from an aesthetic, lore, or design standpoint.
If Wesker doesn't fit then Nemesis just doesn't fit. They both fit perfectly though. I don't know who you've talked to but Wesker is all over the RE community. His lines, his looks, his story. Wesker is iconic.

@Chaos999 said:
Honestly all tyrant forms aren't... Really that different from nemesis.
Jack baker could be cool and fit the game very well.
Failing that, the lepotitsa has the right size and interesting abilities that could be played with on DBD.
Naturally we already know we are getting wesker, so I would like it to be its base form with the sunglasses and trenchoat, because, cool looking, but we will likely get mutant version, which is kind of generic.
Gameplay wise they can all play very different. They all share similarities but a Mr. X would still play very different from a Nemesis in DBD as an example. Plus if we somehow got 2 more paragraphs and they were both Mr. X and the RE1 Tyrant just to have the original 3 Tyrants, that would be awesome.
He could but there is just many more fascinating options like Mr. X or Lisa or maybe even a basic enemy.
I doubt we would get his mutant version. I actually am gonna say I guarantee it won't be that. #1 he's too big in that form (What I mean is his virus arms are too long and make him very wide, obviously a huge problem for doors) #2 I mean why would they do that anyways? They are always looking to get the most iconic characters and versions if they can. Choosing mutant Wesker is like choosing the Super Tyrant from RE2R instead of normal Mr. X

Jack baker is literally a dbd killer already, it actually triggers me how he has been missed twice.
Well that can be said for a lot of RE characters. I mean Mr. X feels like he was made for DBD even though obviously he wasn't. Nemesis was the perfect choice though. They just didn't use him to his full potential.

Now that they're actually giving him a face with the RE8 Third Person update, I think Ethan would be a perfect fit for survivor.
Could give him his outfits from 7 and 8 (with an option for a chewed off hand like Ash has for his metal arm/puppets), plus a legendary molded looking version.
An idea for a perk could be something to do with quick health regeneration, but as the trial progresses you become more sluggish/ harder to heal and weaker in general (like how Ethan regenerates seemingly fatal wounds thanks to his connection to the mold, but by the end of Village is literally falling apart).
Maybe something based around his blocking ability in the games, although given Dead Hard is pretty much universally hated that'll probably not go down well. Or possibly something to do with protecting the obsession (like how he is determined to save his daughter, no matter the cost).
I think he'd be an excellent addition and a way to link the older fans of RE who are attached to Jill and Leon to the newer fans of RE who may have been drawn to Ethan as a character. He really grew on me in Village.
Ethan is very unlikely as he doesn't actually have a face yet. Sure there is a third person mode but the animations clearly still hide his face. And when the camera moves, his head turns as well saw in the trailer.

I'm confused about them picking Wesker, not Nemesis. (Which I literally said, by the way). I was expecting them to pick Nemesis, because yes, he's very iconic. But Wesker? Hardly. I'm not saying he's not important to Re's overall story, but in terms of being immediately recognizable he barely qualifies.
If the devs wanted a character purely based on being iconic or popular, they easily could have went with Lady D, Dr. Saddler, or Mr. X. Lady D doesn't need clarification. While I wouldn't really say Dr. Saddler is that iconic of a character by himself, he was the main villain of Re4, which is one of the most popular Re games. Mr. X is also widely popular, but I can't really tell you why. Maybe it's because he's a Tyrant, or maybe it's because the Re2 remake was incredibly popular, or something else. But he most certainly is iconic. Or, you know, they could have just picked another popular license entirely, to which there are plenty.
Putting popularity aside, Wesker doesn't really standout for being a character that could actually work well in DbD either. If anything, the reaction I've seen to him has been pretty underwhelming; with some similarly confused why they picked him over someone else, or some being worried that Behavior won't be able to give him a good power (since all he really does is use a gun, run around super fast, and mutate to grow a tentacle; at least from what I've seen of him). The only other licensed character I've seen get a reception this poor is Sadako, probably because most people weren't that familiar with the character, or were fearing that the devs wouldn't give her a good or unique power (the same effects I'm seeing being echoed with Wesker).
I hope that this clarifies why I'm personally confused that they picked Wesker over a different Re character.
Now, moving on to Jack, I've never quite understood the "he's not iconic" or "he's too generic" complaints.
Re7 is an extremely popular Re game, and while I do think that Jack is similar to Dr. Saddler in the way that he's iconic more so based off of the game he's in being popular rather than him as a character by himself being popular, he is still very recognizable.
As for his power, I think there are plenty of options.
- He could use many different weapons, like shovels, axes, a spiked paint-roller, and a double-bladed chainsaw. Not too exciting on its own, but it's better than nothing.
- He could create and possibly even control the Molded. (DarkTyrant, I'm kind of confused why you say that Jack doesn't use the mold, even though he's the one who directly creates the Molded. The Bakers kidnap tourists and vagrants, and Jack holds them captive. He then flays them, and gives their organs and flesh to Marguerite so she can make dinner with them. Jack then throws their skeletons and whatever else is left of them into those mold-covered cremator things in his basement which turns the human remains into Molded.) People praise The Plague for having a unique playstyle, and I think that having a killer who is able to gain something throughout the match (probably hits or hooks) and can then spend them at a workbench of sorts to create an ally is just that: unique. The only problem is that Behavior would have to create AI that doesn't suck.
- The player could swap between the three Baker family members, each having their own powers and abilities. (Though obviously they can't all be too complex, considering there'd be three of them.) We don't have anything like this currently. The Twins are similar-ish, but Victor (in-game, not lore wise) functions more so as Charlotte's power and less so of being an actual killer. The only problem with this is just that it'd be very time-consuming for Behavior to create three killers at once.
So yes, I do very well believe that Jack could make for an interesting and unique killer.
Wesker is probably just as iconic as Nemesis. He just is. He was the very first villain. I know without a doubt he is the 2nd most iconic villain. I guess is he as recognizable as Nemesis outside of RE? Not really. Nemesis is like Mario and stuff. Not everyone necessarily has to be a fan or even play RE but he's just such an iconic image that a lot people have at least just seen him. Wesker I wouldn't say is that but for RE he is definitely one of the most iconic.

If it's just about the bloody cosmetics completely agnostic of perks, then yes, I think that'll be a little worse. The characters you're prestiging are at least still fully playable with no loss of progress while you're grinding, though, so that part's a little easier.
Yeah but I just don't understand why they would make it a lot worse. Once Wesker comes out, by the time I even hit P9 or 6 a new chapter will already be coming out. I just think the new grind is gonna be very annoying. You'll also be spending more BP than before since there isn't perks to help eat other perks and chunks up as much. People will be stuck buying iridescent and very rare add-ons over and over for a longer period of time for some that was decently fast before.

@Advorsus said:
Right now if you have all teachables on all killers unlocked, from level 50, it would take 6.5-7 million bp per killer to unlock all perks on a single killer. For 28 killers that's 196 million bp needed. Even if you averaged 100k bp a match on all of your matches, it'd take almost 2000 matches to get that. This isn't including survivors which there is more of.
With the new change there is still a massive grind for new players. It's about 1.5-2 million for 0-50. So that x3, which is about 4.5-6 million. So we'll say an even 5 million bp per character. So from 196 million to about 140 million. That's definitely not 75% reduction for new players lol.
In fact it's not for existing players either. Because right now if a new killer dropped tomorrow, you'd need about 50,000 per bloodweb, and since the web only allows you to get two perks and 1 tier at a time, you'd need about 5-6 webs to get all 3 to tier 3 on one person. So about 250k bp, on each killer. 28 killers that's 7 million bp when a new killer drops.
With the new system you only have to P3 that character, which using the numbers above means about 5 million bp. It's definitely a reduction there, but it's not even half.
However, they removed our ability to get bp from perks, cutting the amount of bp we earn potentially in half.
So I don't really expect the grind to change too much.
The best I can recommend for new players is focusing on one character at a time, and just ignore the perks you see on bloodwebs. Focus on yellow and brown addons and offerings, and the bonus bp ones as much as possible.
They just increased the grind for people like me by 3-6 prestiges. It definitely went up. What is the point in making everything unlock at those levels?
-
@jesterkind said:
Getting absolutely everything unlocked on every character gets progressively easier the longer you do it though, right?
Because for every character you get to P-9, that's three perks you don't have to grind to get unlocked on any other character. The only perks you'll ever have to grind for are generic perks, and that seems pretty likely to happen on the way to P-9.
And that's just for getting everything, if you're newer or only want certain things unlocked, it's reduced to an even more staggering amount.
I'm saying they definitely increased the grind for the people who want to get the new charms and even the old bloody cosmetics. The perk changes are not really my concern. There was just no need to decrease one part of the grind but then increase it for others like me.
-
@Marc_123 said:
Maybe - i lost track a bit with all the explainations.
You can manage the perks you want a lot better but if you want everything on everyone i also would guess it is kinda the same as before. More prestiges mean you can higher which i also assume is more grind in fact.
Some expert really has to do correct maths here.
But what i think:
You have every killer on P3 - all perks available.
A new killer comes with 3 perks.
Old - To get these you need three bloodwebs on all your killers - 150k x 28 = 4.200.000 + you need the teachables first
New - Now you need to prestige the new Killer to P3 - how much cost all webs to level 50? ... x3
Only difference now - that the new Killer has all perks and you don´t need to grind to unlock these. (common perks i am sure you get on the way to P3)
I think this is less - but now you can go to prestige further... so...
It's not about the perks. It's about the bloody cosmetics. They just increased the grind I think.

This system is really good for veteran players There is a new killer? All perks in few hours.
But it just sucks for new players imo. It's same / slightly worse and they have to farm it without BBQ.
And I think new players are the ones who need help most. Most of my friends don't want to play this game, because of the grind and this is not going to help them.
I'm talking about the bloody cosmetics not the perks. The grind has the increased by 3 whole other prestige levels or 6 more if you want the new cool charms.

It's nice to finally see someone who shares the same opinion as me!
Re7 is also my favorite in the franchise, and Jack is one of my favorite villains of all time. I was so crushed (but not that surprised) when they revealed the first Re killer would be Nemesis, and now I'm doubly crushed (and outright confused) that they picked Wesker as the second Re killer.
I don't see why you would be confused as to why Wesker and Nemesis, the 2 most iconic and loved villains in RE are picked. I kinda think Jack would be a bit more generic though. I love 7. I pre-ordered the collector's edition. I got all trophies. I love the DLC. Jack as a killer for DBD can technically work but would be very basic in his power. No he wouldn't use the mold since that was never really his thing.

Yeah, their movement is quite different, just a reskin wouldn't cut it, but maybe some truely legendary skin with a new model and moveset would work? I doubt, though, tha BHVR would want to throw in that much work for whats essentially a killer skin.
I second your sentiment about normal enemies, though. Killers in movies aren't always Jason or Myers level, sometimes they are just some wild animal in the woods and I wouldn't mind basic grunt types as killers, if they were mechanially interesting.
Exactly. Like I don't think anyone would be mad if we got something like Regenerators or some basic enemy like that as the killer. I might actually be happy because it's cool to see enemies like these with new graphics and stuff.

I think Wesker is a good choice next to Nemesis/a tyrant.
ideally we get more killers from RE as legendary skins akin to the Rabbits from Silent Hill (Birkin as Blight, Mr X as Myers if there wasn’t licensing issues)
as survivors, with Jill, Leon, Chris and Claire we already have the ones that should be there before any others. Rebecca is a great choice.
i personally would rather see Carlos and Sheva.
Depends on how far BHVR would be willing to go with those skins. Like Birkin would be good for Blight but would BHVR be willing to have a skin that makes basically just makes him a completely different killer animation wise and stuff? I would also like to see Dr. Salvador appear either as a new killer or a skin for Hillbilly with new animations as well.

First it just infect the survivor, then a second hit, then Dead Hard, then you finally catch up. Ops, 2 gens popped in the meantime. No point in playing him when you have Huntress with the 5seconds Exhaustation add-on
I mainly just meant the lack of rocket launcher and sprint which would be much better in accuracy and fun than what he has now.

Personally I would prefer the Prototype RE0 Rebecca outfit from RE0 because Prototype outfits are jut always so cool to me and are the type of things that show that the people behind the game care. I cant argue w/ that, will never complain about more RE.
im so glad i found someone else that likes RE0!! its such a mix bag in the community but I personally loved it although I do agree with some points that others make that the enemies spawn in rooms could be annoying.
and yes Billy!! hes so cute, he"d fit right in
RE0 & RE5 Rebecca look the same to me?? arent they the same models, i probably have to check...
Rebecca needs a perk like Leon's flashbang but instead it's just a first aid spray. That'd be amazing. Also the reason why I say RE5 is because based on the first chapter the only RE licenses DBD has is RE2R, RE3R, RE4, and RE5. all the contents of the chapter are from that game. That's why I think they would try and use that RE5 license to grab Rebecca without paying for more games like RE0 or RE1. That's also why I predict Wesker will be from RE5 as well.

Exactly. He's far too big. Phase 1 and maybe 2 are the only ones that are really possible.
