But none of these examples are camping, they're choices by the survivor to make bad plays, with the risks mitigated by an abusable 'safe space'.
Why should the killer have to make allowances for survivors playing badly?
Why don't you just not go for the hook rescue when you're being chased by the killer?
This is just an example of a heavy handed 'solution' whose inadvertent results would be worse than the problem they're seeking to rectify.
I think you overestimate how "safe" this space is. It's not like the unhooking Survivor is at an advantage against an M1 Killer if they decide to brazenly go for a save WHILE the Killer is on top of them.

If you don't get the hook grab, that's guaranteeing the unhook.
Why have I just spent so long stalking a survivor for my only power, just to have it guarantee them an unhook instead of an instadown? which is the whole point of the power.
Why have I run Devour Hope and banked my well earned stacks (by not camping mind you) only to have it totally invalidated because the survivor ran to the 'safe space' around the hook? They didn't even need to cleanse it.
Then make sure you get the hook grab? Or make sure you don't set up an instadown too close to the hook? Or hit them anyways to try and push them away from the hook, lest they risk going down anyways and rendering the save moot. It's not like this idea makes instadowns useless. Just worse at camping with.

Then what's the point of them being exposed? You expose healthy survivors, so that you can down them in one shot, that's the power, that's what you're investing and paying a cost for.
You're cheating a killer out of their power.
You may as well make killers that "ignore endurance" next, so you can cheat survivors out of theirs too.
If they're going for a rescue to cheat the one-shot, you grab them. Or you just hit them and then hit them again if they are bold enough to continue with the rescue attempt. The end result is that they are down anyways.

Sounds like you're coming from the position of "killers should not be allowed to camp whatsoever". Rather than making camping situations managable for the survivors to deal with.
Camping is absolutely a fair and legitimate tactic in some contexts, and in some others, it's an unavoidable scenario.
Imagine being cheated out of your well earned power just because the survivor you're chasing ran towards the hook.
Oops sorry, all that time stalking and chasing that survivor as Ghostface was wasted, because the exposed survivor ran to perform an unstoppable hook rescue in your face.
In fact any survivor exposed for any reason, could simply use it as an opportunity for a guaranteed safe unhook.
Which is just one reason why this can't work @TAG, sorry.
"In fact any survivor exposed for any reason, could simply use it as an opportunity for a guaranteed safe unhook."
Not if they're already injured?
Also, how is the hook rescue unstoppable if you can still grab them?

I mean, we should be trying to fix camping, not just one-shotting. No need half-ass a fix, best to find an actual permanent solution than to constantly do tiny band-aid fixes.
I'm not trying to find a solution to camping in this thread, so telling me that I should is not accomplishing anything.

I'm only trying to solve one-shotting while camping.

Doesn't help with Bubba which can still just chainsaw, since he doesn't stop his chainsaw upon hitting someone, so he can still camp, only that now he would have Speed Limiter when near.
I think that's fine. If absolutely necessary, just make it so a Survivor can only be hit by the Bubba saw once per rev.
@MrMori said:
Survivors should gain the Endurance status effect when within 16 meters of a hooked survivor. Deep Wounds is more than enough punishment for an unhook attempt against a camper.
I don't think the solution to camping is to make Survivors effectively insta-heal just for being within range.

The only positive she gained IMO is Amanda's Letter. Everything else is at best net neutral, which is bad when she has a lot of complete trash add-ons

Pig. Again. I'd argue her last pass was a failure.

I do think the thread being active is good because that means it's bumped to the top more often which puts some pressure on the devs to actually respond.
I really don't know why they don't just respond though... it definitely isn't painting a good picture.
The optimist would say that they're trying to figure out a solution to the issues put forth by the community before responding in full. The pessimist would say that they are actively ignoring criticism about the new grind because they don't have intention to change it.

To be fair, if you're getting bodyblocked in a corner indefinitely, you are likely eating a DC penalty unless you can outlast the person bodyblocking you.

Since they did this they should rework other perks like Rancor. If you argue that DS gives a free escape end-game, perks like Rancor shouldn't exist in the way that they are. Rework it! It's a free insta down + Mori with no hooks required AND it tells you where the survivor is.
Also nerf NOED so it can't give a free kill if a survivor is hooked by it. Deactivate it in those scenarios and revert its current (future) nerf.
Note that Rancor 100% telegraphs itself to the person affected by it the whole game, so you very much have an opportunity to play around it.
-
You are creating a double standard by deliberately ignoring the fact that add-ons being temporarily fundamentally makes them more of a grind.
-
The fact that you acknowledge the possibility of grinding for add-ons should be a clear understanding that a grind for them exists, regardless of whether you care about going through that grind or not.
-

i don't agree that it's a grind in the first place. they're just a bonus that you get while grinding for perks, the actual thing you have to grind. they're not mandatory and they're pretty abundant. rare add-ons are meant to be rare for a reason, they're stronger but the trade off is that you have fewer of them and can't use them for every single game. that's literally the entire point.
the fact that the game got stale and people played for 6 years at p3-50, got used and entitled to having them at all times is another matter.
You have to grind to get the ones you want. To say one does not grind for add-ons is objectively false.
-
You just gave me a brilliant idea for if I ever run into a group of players all trying to use that Boil Over tactic.

You agree that the grind for add-ons, items, and offerings has gotten worse, yes?

@cordonrouge said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3046832#Comment_3046832
i play with the add-ons i have, when i find a pink one i know it's gonna be a fun game because they're stronger. that's all. they wouldn't even be fun if i had them every single game.
perks are a permanent part of your build, you grind them once and then never again. they're not the same thing. by the way, prestiging doesn't get rid of your items anymore so you probably won't even run out.
The fact that add-ons are temporary fundamentally makes them more of a grind than perks because you need to keep acquiring them to use them. And the new prestige changes makes that grind even worse.
-
@cordonrouge said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3046821#Comment_3046821
the grind? you don't have to "grind" them, they come to you passively as you level up. they're a bonus, not a necessity. do y'all really have this mindset? like you log in and go "ugh gotta farm bloodpoints until i find pink add-on!!"
jesus christ, do you guys even have fun and enjoy the game? when i find pink stuff i just go "oh, this one is stronger than the others. neat!"
You absolutely grind them, I don't know where you are getting otherwise. That's like saying you don't grind perks.

The grind for all those things have gotten harder, have they not?

Tunneling is an action. It doesn't change name whether the killer has other objectives or not, or whether it's the optimal play or not. Those situations aren't mutually exclusive. The very fact that they could not tunnel in endgame by going after the unhooker highlights the point (see what I did there?)
There's no need to be that insecure by making up bogus notions by playing around with words. If I'm in endgame and I decide my best bet is to camp and tunnel, I'm gonna do just that. I don't need to invent new names for those just to feel validated and better with myself.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3045999#Comment_3045999
Unironically, after the DS change, it's already been suggested that all other anti-tunnel mechanics deactivate in endgame. I'd have to dig through my comments to find the conversation. But yes, it didn't take long. In the end, it's a continuous hunt. One perk gets taken down and then switch to the next target.
I mean, I've always thought BT should deactivate during the endgame alongside DS, and OTR during the end game has all the same problems as DS during the endgame, so it makes sense that that should be deactivated as well. The new basekit mini-BT I am willing to give a shot since it's pretty short, and off the top of my head, I can't really think of anything else that warrants being turned off during the end game.
-
Just wanna say from personal experience, rescuing someone being camped during the end game from a non-one-shotty Killer without DS/BT and stuff is doable. Obviously less doable when we are dealing with active one-shotters like Bubba, but that seems like more of an issue with being able to camp with a one-shot attack than anything.

Correct. I know someone (a friend of a friend) who I swear has been easily cheating over a year.
Had them in multiple random lobbies where they just finished all gens and escaped. So boring and annoying that they never get banned for it (as far as know they haven't been).
Have you thought about emailing a BHVR dev to explain the situation? It's someone you personally know (to a degree), so you should be able to just readily provide evidence whenever you run into them.

I hate to sneak in again and ruin all your hard work (huge kudos for going through the effort of putting together the spreadsheet!), but there's another big oversight here: Prestiging resets you to level 1, meaning you get the super tiny levels again. The overall bloodpoints required ends up being ~75% lower, not the number of levels. You spend way more BP per level on the old system by repeating the huge level 50 bloodwebs.
Can we please get someone from BHVR to comment on how higher-rarity add-ons/items/offerings will be much more difficult to grind as a result of this new system?

Was a typo, fixed now.
A killer doesnt have to be an instadown to down an already injured person though. So if the killer still goes for the unhooked it will be a free kill.
But at that point, Survivors can heal up before going for the rescue in a group.

Guess it's survivor fault they were able to save their DS till endgame, totally not a killer fault.
And inb4 u bring OTR, it isnt gonna make it live and if it does it is getting boil over treatment, so great Job to devs, they buffed tunneling
As I have said before, you can't reasonably tell me that DS was fine if different people are unironically saying that the counterplay to it is both to tunnel to directly play into it and to not tunnel to play around it. :P

@Marigoria said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3037183#Comment_3037183
By that logic killers should not get a borderline free escape during end game
They don't because Killers don't escape. :P
But in all seriousness, I don't think they should get a free kill either. The only times that really happens, though, are when a Killer is camping with an instadown (which should be looked at and dealt with by devs if possible) and if the Killer locks the gates with Bloodwarden at the proper time (which is 100% able to be played around and entirely on the Survivors if it happens).
-
@Tiufal said:

But killers are allowed to get a borderline free kill by camping and tunneling in endgame?
Tunneling is definitely not a free kill during the endgame. Camping can potentially be if the Killer has a way to instadown, but that's something that should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
-
Without resorting to any us vs. them, I think making it mandatory to spend 50k bloodpoints to reset the blood webs back to the tiny ones is a bad thing because it makes add-on/item/offering acquisition much harder. The grind for those things has been made worse, as far as I can tell.

Yeah, the dead hard for distance was never my primary concern. As a Blight and Nurse main, about 95% of the time when survivors used a dead hard, it was completely un-counterable for me because I was forced into a situation where I needed to lunge. The actual “dead hard for distance” scenarios were extremely rare for me. And it’s probably similar for a lot of other Blight or Nurse killers, so the perk didn’t really lose anything against them, and instead got a huge buff because killers get punished even more when they hit a dead hard.
Considering that the primary concern for a majority of Killers was DH for distance, I'm okay with this outcome.

Yes but if we don't find it first and yet they stick around just to be a sore winner... we just have to stand there and take it?
No, you can just walk toward them and end their gloating preemptively by making them leave.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3037246#Comment_3037246
How is this supposed to shake up the meta, if high MMR survivors are likely to keep using it, because they’re well aware that Blight and Nurse are punished even more with the new dead hard, and Blight and Nurse have zero counterplay when they are using their power if they aren’t pixel perfect (which happens the majority of the time).
That's a different discussion altogether to me. I mainly care that DH for distance is likely not feasible anymore.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3037237#Comment_3037237
Some killers are more reliant on lunges than others. If Blight is using his power, he very often is slightly off because of survivor movement, and will need to lunge. Nurse also will often need to lunge after a blink because of survivor movement. Against those two killers, dead hard on reaction is very often a free health state.
The two generally-considered best Killers in the game? Seems fine to me.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
At high MMR, new dead hard is a buff. It can still be used on reaction to a killer’s lunge, and if the killer lunges, the survivor gets even more free distance than before. It’s also a buff against some killer powers like huntress, because you can easily dead hard on reaction to the hatchet noise, and get a free speed boost with distance.
Remember that high risk high reward doesn’t work at high MMR, where the survivors can reliably get the high reward part, and their timing is so good that they don’t really have the high risk part anymore.
At high MMR, players know not to haphazardly lunge if there's a chance the Survivor might have DH.

But free kills with NOED + facecamp are ok ? Doesn't require any skill either it's even worse, DS is overnerfed if you played badly before EGC maybe you don't deserve any kill at all, stop cry and go next
Considering that the last game I played as a Survivor had me successfully rescuing the hooked Survivor and bailing out the Exit Gate despite Killer having NOED and one Survivor already being dead prior to the Gates being powered...

That's so bs. The killer will now be rewarded for downing us after a camp on endgame collapse. Even when 99% of the time it takes a gigaload of teamwork to unhook the camped survivor. How much skill. I thought it was a anti tunneling perk.
Survivors should not get a borderline free escape during the endgame, simple.
-
The point of the end game nerf was to not allow DS to provide a free escape (granted, new OTR still allows that, so...)
I don't really know the point of the stun time nerf.

So I just want the same treatment fair is fair.
You'll get the same treatment when you can forcibly remove the Haddie mask from other people's accounts such that BHVR won't be able to tell which players lost the mask.
