Survivors got a ton of good perk buffs. Killers got ONE good perk buff and now it's gone.
OTR doesn't work in the end game for a free escape. That's the same as DS. Guess what still works in the end game? Borrowed Time. So you still get 15 seconds and 7% speed buff of invulnerability.
Dead Hard went from a 1 second window to 0.5 second window. Guess what it was before. A 0.5 second window. This isn't a nerf, it's reverting a BUFF they gave to the single most-used survivor perk in the game (with a 75% pick rate).
Botany Knowledge is great if you're just healing other people with your hands. It now has a penalty if you're ALSO stacking a med-kit on top of that. With the 50% buff, just normal healing actions take 12 seconds. That's the same speed as a green med-kit, but it never runs out of charges. The ONLY thing that nerfed was self-healing with a med kit and botany knowledge. So, just bring a purple med-kit and the 20% reduction doesn't cost you even a single heal. This is not nerf at all.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3056657#Comment_3056657
Three perks that: give you complete protection from being tunneled and gives you self-healing in 8 seconds (twice as fast as another survivor healing you and 5x faster than using Self-Care). And you still have a fourth one for Dead Hard or whatever else you might want.
How is "prevent you from getting tunneled and healing you" a niche situation? What game are YOU playing?
It is not self-healing in eight seconds, as you need to count the fourteen seconds spent cleansing a totem. It's the Inner Strength that is situational.

Except for climbing in a locker.
So, if you have inner strength, you can cleanse a totem, play the game normally, and the next time you get unhooked, escape super easily to some locker and get healed up for free. If you have DS, you're also immune to the killer for the entire duration of this escape.
That's three perks dedicated to a relatively situational interaction. I think I'm okay with that.

Yeah and it is still broken af. 80 seconds of endurance + the old effects of OTR is ridiculous. This will completely break the game and make the game unplayable for a few weeks until they fix it. This perk is BT (which was already one of the best perks in the game) on steroids and has no right to be in the game.
Note that the effects go away as soon as you do anything.

Was there a new update today? Here’s what the last one I saw says
Overcharge
Along with its current effects, Overcharge will cause a kicked generator’s regression speed to grow from 100% to 400% over the course of 30 seconds. Survivors will want to stop this generator from regressing as soon as possible.
Yes, it was posted above. Overcharge now starts at 75% regression and caps at 200% regression after 30 seconds.

It is not good perk yeah, it helps a bit. And sadly it needed perk, that's why you are seeing it so much. Not because it is strong.
BT, to my understanding, was generally considered one of the undisputed best Survivor perks in the game. You are welcome to think otherwise, but be aware that this is far from a majority opinion.

i agree with the change of having Shadowborn be base with a fov slider. But I don’t think it would work cause killers will always have the highest setting cause having a wider screen is so useful.
Originally my secondary effect for Shadowborn was you see auras for a extra 1/2/3 seconds. But sadly lethal pursuer stole my idea so that’s not happening
Is that necessarily a problem?

Even current BT is not good and people can count. 5 seconds? It was joke on PTB, anyone can count to 5 and hit you.
Current BT is not good? That's a new one.

I literally am amazed and shocked WHY people bring stupid 5Ok tax as a problem. It is NOTHING compared to BBQ and WGLF removal. NOTHING!
Removal or BBQ and WGLF bonus is going to make everything much much worse than any 5Ok tax. Of course, combining 5Ok and BBQ/WGLF removal brings entire grind into whole another level, but BBQ/WGLF is the main problem, not 50k tax.
I rarely use BBQ and never use WGLF, so that part does not affect me personally. The 50K thinf affects everyone, full stop.
-
I don't think that's the right question to be asking. A Killer wants to end the chase sooner, and a Survivor wants to drag the chase out. The chase is either short enough to favor the Killer or long enough to favor the Survivors, depending on the state of the current trial. There is no consistent middle ground, far as I can tell.

The Pig treatment...? A handful of sensible nerfs and then nothing for years? I don't think there even are any sensible nerfs you could give Sadako.
Regardless, she's not the worst killer but she's also not as good as she could or should be. There's definitely room for improvement- I'd like to see her TV cooldowns looked at if nothing else, especially now that Dredge has been released and just has a better teleport mechanic all around.
I would call the change she received during the EGC update less "sensible" and more "overkill."
Also, to be fair, she did get her base crouch speed buffed a bit. Before what it is now, it was horrendously slow.

You and I are going to agree to disagree at this point. Context matters. Some matches just suck from the get-go. DCing mid-match is one thing. DCing because the match has barely gone on for two minutes and you somehow had the luck to be in situations like this are entirely different.
DCing at the beginning of the match is worse than DCing in the middle of the match. You are the exact kind of person the DC penalty was made for.

Not really depends on how you look at it if you don't care what the state of the game is and just focus on licenses and outfits you are abandoning the main aspect of the game which is playing it now I know they did this "major" update where they "changed" the meta but they didn't at all feels kind of like they are trying to placebo you into thinking they are working hard on the game i know design and coding is alot of work but they are messing up at the core of it all brainstorming. Right now they are just putting the same meta on new perks in hopes that people think its different. Killers will still have gen regress and tunnel and camp and survivors will just annoy the killer and have endurance while they hold w.
Abandon means you're leaving it behind and not doing anything with it. If you are selling it out to every crossover known to man, you are absolutely not leaving it behind and not doing anything with it.

im talking for technical aspect, to make the game feel better, and most of the cosmetics are survivors, from the map we went ONE DAMN license without a map which was sadako, artist had her own map and for the crossover its mainly a renew of an old license so yes a bit exciting but nothing brain melting if anything i think another RE chapter might just break the game again and then maybe not
Outside of maybe technical, none of those things signal that the game feels abandoned.

from the point of balance yes, its far from abandoned, but from every other aspect it sure as hell feels like it
From which aspect? Costume-wise, they're adding a lot of new costumes, map-wise, they finally added a new map to the game after a long while, chapter-wise, they're doing ANOTHER crossover with one of the largest horror video game IPs out there.

WOW they are shifting the balance of the game WOW SO GOOD
everything is still behind a paywall, SoloQ is miserable, playing killer is taxing af, there is no gameplay history, the report button is a letter to santa, the performance on pc and console is next to unplayable sometimes
but no let's ignore ALL of those problems because they are shift the Meta and grind. clearly u aren't the only one not trying to break the TOS here
All fair points, but that most certainly does not mean the game is abandoned, considering the scope of what the devs are trying to do with this upcoming update.
-
I'll doll up my characters in whatever I like best based on what I have available. The only times I ever spent money on cosmetics were for the Pig's drill bit weapon and the premium track on the rift to get her Reverse Bear Trap mask. I'd also spend auric cells on the leather jacket if they ever fix the issue with the Reverse Bear Trap mask's hair.

I think you're being disingenuous saying there's no upside. The upside is that it lessens the grind and gives you access to the perks that you want to unlock quicker.
Given that the extra ten bloodwebs you spend to prestige is at least partially offset by the resulting grind on your main being a third shorter, I really don't think it's actually so much of a downside that it warrants serious change. Players who choose not to engage with the entirety of the system have things at worst a little bit worse, and everyone else has it better.
I specifically said no upside to the people who play single characters. Not disingenuous.
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3050215#Comment_3050215
You're basically correct. The only real concerns I have are that prestiging costs 50k BP (which is way, way too much even if a cost should be there to begin with), and getting higher-rarity addons/etc will be slightly harder.
For the actual grind, IE, the perks, it's unambiguously a reduction if you spread the cost around- which is why I wonder if being a little worse for players who don't spread that cost around is actually a bad thing.
It is a bad thing because there's no necessity to doing it and upside to doing it for the people who play single characters. It's pure downside that doesn't need to exist.
-
@pseudechis said:
No it really isn't.
I mean playing a diverse range of characters is the idea that's why they have a diverse range of characters.
My understanding is they are reducing the RNG nature of the grind somewhat which I think is a better move. Builds are ready to go on new characters rather than fishing for builds at random till you unlock what you want.
Is the increased BP cost of this for a singular character too much for the benefit of reducing the RNG nature, well we'll have to wait and see.
People seem hung up on raw numbers though discounting the reduction in RNG reduction.
(correct me if I'm wrong on this, I went on holiday rather than play the PTB this time around so haven't tried any of it or really bothered too much to follow with it).
All you need to know is that it is now significantly harder to grind for add-ons, items, and offerings.

they'd never do that as base-kit change, not intuitive. at best it might be a perk. a meta perk for sure.
I don't see how those are unintuitive? Those are the intended interactions with this idea.

so how does that work for variety of killer powers?
Myer's pop's tier 3, he m1's someone near a hook, the survivor doesn't go down. Killer player is massively ??????? confused.
Oni pops his demon fury, wacks the survivor with the bat, the survivor doesn't down. big ???????
Clown hits the direct hit with the pinky finger add-on, hits the survivor. another big ??????
The chainsaw killers, billy and leatherface just get base-kit speedlimiter on their powers near hooks.
Definitely not an exploitable change. /sarcasm.
----
I think what your asking for is a perk that grants self-endurance effect when you unhook a survivor and prevents you from getting grabbed. Borrow time originally used to do this which is why it was once called an anti-camping perk. It no longer does that. Even if endurence was only for 5 seconds, I think many survivors would use that perk in their main load out.
I'm not sure why you are saying these things like they are unintuitive interactions. If the Survivors are healthy, that is indeed what would happen. If you don't want that to happen, do it before they get in range of the hooked Survivor.
I am pitching the idea for a Healthy Survivor (as in not injured) to not be one-shottable near a hooked Survivor.

That's kind of my point, though- should it be considered a "punishment" when all that's really happening is interacting unfavourably with a mechanic you don't want to engage with fully?
If the intent is to encourage variety for easier levelling, is it actually a bad thing, or somehow a mark of failure, if not following that encouragement makes things a little bit harder for you?
Yes IMO.

Encouraging playing more characters is fine. Punishing players for not doing so is not.

No, their survivor wouldn't suck because if the change is minimal it doesn't mean much. Plus we have mains for every killer and some are not amazing, yet people still play them. I think you guys overcomplicate things and apply feelings too much to something that wouldn't happen. If killers can be unique and some even with bad abilities, so can survivors!
Obviously there will be people who don't care enough to change, but there will be people who look at other Survivors and find theirs inadequate by comparison. The difference between Survivors being unique and Killers being unique is that Killers were unique from the start, and the game was built around that. Not the case with Survivors.
-
@Onyx said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3049601#Comment_3049601
I don't understand the logic behind this. We have meta killers too, but you don't see only those killers being played. Also, why is it okay for killers to pick meta killers, but not survivors? You get what I mean? Like, why is it bad that there would be a survivor meta, when there isn't a problem with killers doing it? I am tired of survivors being just skins and I don't see the point of it.
The issue is that a non-negligible amount of Survivor mains have gone all in on their character of choice because there's an assumption that Survivor choice makes no meaningful difference. To change that now all of a sudden risks a player now finding that their character might suck and that all their effort put into that character has gone to waste.

dunno in certain situations, their restriction on ability power near hook is annoying. Like artist for example, when a survivor is looping in a tileset, the inability to places crows can hurt the killer in a chase. Victor's anti-camp mechanic doesn't even do anything because you can place victor before acquiring the hook.
one of my games as dredge was I had a survivor in basement, I found another survivor to chase post-hook, I hit them and than they run to the basement and at first, I was like, what he is doing, than I remember that you can't tp to lockers, so that blocking locker mechanic prevents you from cutting the survivor off. punishes proxy camping for some reason.
in current iteration of the game, being good at camping is desirable trait. Being good at tunneling and slugging are also desirable traits. they're just not very fun for survivor to play against, mainly because camping reduces your skill as survivor since you get only 1 chase if you die in 1 hook. Tunneling can be unfun because the killer that generally tunnel are those that do not get punished hard by Decisive strike. Its more along lines of like Nurse that just pick you up on every down or blight tunnels straight off hook. Like when killer tunnel, they do it because it wins them games, same logic as camping. slugging for survivor can be unfun for survivor if your get slugged and keep getting re-slugged after being picked-up. It really only happens with Twins and victor slugging. The other killers typically slug A) avoid DS or B) map-pressure purposes.
Being good at camping should never be a "desirable trait" IMO. Being able to pull that back through cutting off one-shotting is a decent start to dealing with that.

I don't think its fair game, why are some killer getting punished and others not?
you either punish everyone or punish no one.
Because some Killers can be super good at camping the hook while others not as much purely because of the one-shots? It's not like being really good at hook camping should be a desirable trait in Killers.
-
@Devil_hit11 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3048574#Comment_3048574
the people who want facecamp will just play trickster and utilize his zero cooldown blades. they're not 1 shooting you, but they are preventing you from getting unhook.
alternative is picking huntress and running her oak shaft yellow add-on. I think trying to punish the killer for camping is wrong approach to the problem.
better solution to make camping not rewarding. think of like slugging, how often do you get slugged as survivor and die? Not often right? why? Its because it takes 4 minutes to die on the floor. this is long time. If hook regression is worse, than killer are less likely to camp because it leads to them losing, instead of winning.
a camping killer with 1 shots is not breaking the rules of dbd hence the killer has no reason to be punished though his strategy doesn't have to be game-winning.
Those two things seem acceptable to me compared to one-shotting.
Also, we already have instances of Killer being unable to to certain things near the Hook that are not against the rules (Dredge to a nearby locker, set Victor too close as examples), so restricting Killer tools around hooked Survivors is fair game.

Agreed. If anything, the killer should be unable to stay within 16m of the hook without pausing the sacrifice timer/losing access to their power/giving every survivor within that range endurance. Camping and proxying and tunneling isn't something that can be solved with little tweaks, BHVR needs to come down hard on it. The longer spent not doing that the worse it's going to be for killers who crutch on it all the time.
Then I'll stand 17 meters from the hook. :3

If the killer is waiting by a hook to secure a hook stage it very likely means that you took too long working on a generator and should have tried to save sooner.

...or as the survivor you should pay a little more attention to the situation at hand and weigh whether the investment you are making in your hook rescue is likely to be wasted or not.
You still have to as a Survivor. Not like Survivors don't have to weigh that choice against non-insta-down Killers.

It seems like you don't understand the concept of cost-benefit and how it applies to killer powers.
Or you've never played killer.
Well, if you can't explain it any better, then in my eyes, it's not a convincing issue.
If you're worried about the Survivor using that area to avoid an insta-down, then you as a Killer should pay a little more attention to the situation at hand and weigh whether the investment you are making in your insta-down is likely to be wasted or not.

No, but it invalidates a well-earned killer power.
If a killer has put in the work or spent the perk slot to expose a survivor, then they should expect to one-shot that survivor when they catch them.
At a hook, that would mean they guarantee the survivor goes down AND prevent the hook rescue. That's not unreasonable for the survivor ######### up like that.
With this power-denial, an exposed survivor can think "at least I can get a hook save in before I go down!" And there's nothing the killer can do to prevent it (besides gamble on a grab when they shouldn't have to).
If the Survivor is still disadvantaged, them I'm okay with Killers losing the ability to one-shot them around the hooked Survivor. "It's not fair" does not tell me why that's a problem.
