"I'll never understand why players stick around after purposefully disconnecting."

Well, the Survivor could be the last guy who disconnected, so he would not have to stick around, he would just be there at this point.

Regarding Bots - I hope I never see them in DBD. Might be nice for Killers to get some easy points (as if this is not easy enough already for Killer), but as Survivor I dont care if it is a 3v1 or a 4v1 with one Bot who will not be useful at all.

    @Topic:

    Some context would be nice.

I certainly understand the hesitation people would have with bots. But when people start to disconnect there needs to be a mechanic in place that makes life easier for the remaining survivors. Like I said, in my previous match as Freddy two survivors disconnected which left the two remaining survivors to work on five generators which is completely unfair. At the very least bots would give those two survivors the extra time necessary to work on gens while the bots keep the killer busy.

Oh no, I blame myself. I'm...not very good.

See - I'd love to learn and improve, but it's tricky when my opponents are so much better than me that it's hard to even understand what went wrong/right, let alone how to counter it. Not quite sure how to tackle a group sticking together and moving from objective to objective with one player on permanent lookout.

Actually did try to watch some Youtube videos of games, but again - a bit over my head.

About the only thing I really gained was from a new player tips video on what talents etc. to pick, and who to grind on first (that came out wrong), but that's about it.

This is one of DBD's biggest downfalls, the fact that it doesn't have a training mode. There are so many aspects to this game that the game doesn't teach you, which forces you to search online for streamers to teach you how to play this game.

The devs recently admitted in their recent Q&A that after all these years a training mode is still not planned. They don't seem to care how this affects newer players like yourself. The matchmaking is atrocious, the toxicity is disgusting, and the fact that this game doesn't teach you anything or let you practice is pathetic.

Hopefully the new MMR will make life a little easier, but there is no excuse for this game not to have a practice mode.

  • I'll never understand why players stick around after purposefully disconnecting. Personally I think DBD should have bots in place like the mobile game has for something like this, but if you were purposefully disconnecting because you're not having fun, then move on to the next match. Sticking around just so you can say vile s*** to the killer is ridiculous.

I played a Freddy match a couple of nights ago and two players disconnected within a few minutes. Since there were still five gens left to go I went ahead and let the other two survivors farm. I brought in a cake too which allowed all of us to rack up quite a few blood points.

I don't see what can ruin survivors's fun , they all run second chances perks .

The only things i saw survivors complain about were 'Pressing M1 is boring' and 'Delete mori pls'

You ain't kidding, survivors have second chance perks out the yin yang! But what can ruin games for survivors is being matched against a killer that is far outside their skill level. With the MMR off the game is back to matching players by ranks, and since ranks aren't an adequate representation of skill, you could be matched against a killer that is far better than their rank indicates, and that's usually because the player stopped playing for a while or purposefully deranked. That's also not to say that newer players still aren't being matched against red rank killers as that continues to happen far too often.

There's plenty of frustration to be had in DBD, but there's a lot of fun to be had too, which is why it pays to not care about the outcome of matches.

  • @MadLordJack said:

That's just what happens sometimes. There's nothing you can do, so don't even worry. Just play what little game you get, try to have fun, try to get as many hooks as possible or whatever goal you want to set for yourself. Actual genrushing isn't really a thing that can be fixed without screwing over every other survivor.

^This. There are a lot of things in DBD that can ruin everyone's fun. The complaints that survivors have for killers and vice versa are all pretty much legit. The way to get around this is to not care about the outcome of your matches. Learning not to care about ranks or pipping can make a world of difference. I realize that with some people that's easier said than done, but if you stop looking at DBD as a competitive game, that will make everything significantly better for you.

  • Having the undetectable status effect for 16 seconds when a gen is 70% done is huge, especially for killers that can move across the map fast.

  • Since you like playing Myers I would recommend looking up stalky boi on youtube. He's a Michael Myers main, and he equips various perks that work really well on him.

I like playing Myers too, but his game is really slow at the start which is why a perk like corrupt or pop is necessary. If you don't want a gen tracking perk, try Whispers.

  • I understand what you're saying, but I disagree. With matchmaking being in the state that it is, it can lead to a plethora of rainbow matches that aren't fair and balanced. Tonight I finished a survivor match where the killer was rank 3, I was rank 4, but my teammates were rank 13, 11, and 8. Needless to say it was a s*** show.

So yes playing killer might be easier, but it can be easier for all the wrong reasons.

  • @Blueberry said:

With an Ebony Mori? lol..okay we're gonna ignore that first of all

    Does rank matter? Yes

Is ranking flawed and not really accurate? Yes, but it does mean something.

The difference between the average red rank and the average grey rank is significant. Enough that I can tell you roughly what rank every player is before we get to the end tally screen and generally I'm pretty accurate.

I didn't mention the mori because he wasn't using it to win, but to test it out.

And personally I side with the devs in that ranks don't represent skill which is why you can't get an accurate match based on ranks alone. Typically rank 13 usually points to a casual player, and Ohwrecker is anything but. Had he been a casual player the survivors he was matched against would have completely walked all over him had he not had that Mori.

  • I agree. The fact that players have to turn to streamers to learn how to play Dead by Daylight because the game doesn't have the tools at hand to teach new players the mechanics of the game is downright sad.

  • @Kebek said:

That's exactly one of the reasons I want training mode like DBD mobile has. I hope devs will add it as soon as possible.

Players have been asking for that for the past four years. Rumor was that bots were going to be implemented into the game like they were in the mobile version, but without bots a training mode will never come to fruition.

So in other words it'll never happen because the devs don't care to create one.

I really hate how I love & enjoy this game sometimes..because when its decent or even good, I have a blast...and then POOF bugs, glitches and just unnecessary changes just weigh down the fun.

I feel that the development team actually can't fix the game and can only band-aid fix it between updates or try to distract with new Chapters or updates like graphical changes to Gens, Chests and some of the maps.

Like I'm sure glad I have issues hooking Survivors, or Terror Radius of Killers sometimes not being there, or how basic actions bug out for the trade-off of new Gens & animations....

Yeah they can't fix the game but they can sell you new skins no problem!😤

  • Encountered the zero terror radius myself tonight. Between the bugs, the matchmaking, and the Moris, I don't know why I play anymore.

  • I just played a survivor match and I encountered the glitch where the killer doesn't have a terror radius. The blight hooked me in the basement, I was rescued, I then ran up the steps and the blight had no heartbeat and instantly downed me again.

The amount of glitches that exists with this game makes me ponder why we even play? It's certainly enough to make any player stop playing.

his add-ons are cool, but he doesn't need them to be good

I've only really been using his common add-on that makes you aim at the nearest survivor after bashing, and honestly I'm only using it as a cheap detection tool.

I certainly don't want to give the impression that people can't master him without add-ons, but using add-ons like compound 21 certainly makes life easier.

  • @tactic said:

The dream world is bugged because of the patch that just launched yesterday, rip

Another day another bug. Such is the life of DBD.

  • What I find interesting is that most people that have good things to say about him usually play him with add-ons, as he seems to be very add-on dependent.

  • I was watching tofu play him today, and he played him without any add-ons because he wanted to get a fair representation of what it was like to play with the blight, and even after the abysmal experience he had on the ptb, he still came away not impressed. He didn't want to come out and say that he's a bad killer, but he definitely said that the skill required to learning him was very high.

He also acknowledged that the turn radius and the lunge distance on a rush attack was very punishing.

I honestly have no problem holding back on purchasing this DLC despite how nice some of the perks may look.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Not gonna lie, DBD is not the right game if you don't have a few hours to spend now and then AND are totally happy never winning. Even ignoring the matchmaking and wierdly high skill cap, the grind is so real that I feel like the physical edition comes with a free whetstone.

Yeah I'm learning this the hard way. I wish the grind wasn't so bad, but the matchmaking is what makes this game almost unplayable for someone in my shoes.

I can either grin and bare it or move on, and I may have to move on.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1603976#Comment_1603976

Just for reference when they changed Hillbilly the version on the PTB wasn't the version that went live afterward, they toned down his Overheat mechanic because it was a little too harsh on PTB. So it's probably a similar situation with Blight where there are changes to the PTB version that will appear in the live release tomorrow (we just don't know exactly what they are yet.)

Hope so. The hitboxes were so bad that you couldn't even get through an open doorway while in the midst of a rush attack.

  • According to most streamers his hit boxes were just atrocious and made playing him completely unwieldy. The devs stated that there was an update made to the killer, but for some reason that patch was never released to the PTB.

  • @Slickstyles said:

I go against rainbow ranks all the time and I'm a rank1 killer. When they can't match you with a killer of similar rank, the matchmaking will start pairing you up with killers of different ranks. On the flip side, if it's taking you a long time to get a match as killer, you will probably be paired with different ranks as well.

And I can understand that. I can accept a loss just as easily as I can accept a win, but when matchmaking is so imbalanced that I can barely get anything done, that's when I have a problem. Supposedly the MMR was to fix this, but I guess not. I know they deactivated it, but there's no telling when or if it'll be back.

  • Which is why I don't understand when people say this game is killer-sided. When survivors can be this toxic because they're not afraid of getting hit or killed, means that they have far too many perks and tools at their disposal.

  • I have a lot of respect and appreciation when streamers upload the games that they lose to. As experienced as a lot of these streamers are, they all have bad games. They're not infallible, and I hate it when they try and pretend that they are. We can clearly tell that they all have their fair share of losses as a lot of times you can easily tell that they're not always a rank 1.

DBD can be a lot of fun, but it's also one of the most imbalanced and toxic games out there. I don't have hours each day to invest into this game so I play the game casually at best, and it's really hard to play this game casually since the matchmaking can ensure that you never get a fair and balanced experience.

  • @fordragos said:

Lol I can beat that, this is the matchmaking of this game below......

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Q3AOSIZSCVNI/lol-match.jpg

If I had known it was a rank 20 then i would have genuinely let him kill me........

This game is incredibly punishing for newer players, and the fact that the devs haven't done anything to help lessen the sting is disappointing.

Give the people the practice mode that they've been asking for. Everyone needs a way to practice without fearing having to compete against veterans of this game.

  • Freddy is the strongest killer, Ghostface has the best perks, and Pyramid Head is the most fun. Demo sadly falls behind in every category.

  • @theArashi said:

How are the bots in mobile DBD?

Why aren't they a part of live game?

Even braindead AI that holds W or M1 would be better then current DC's.

It's not that bad actually. Supposedly bots were coming to DBD proper as a way to fill in for players that DC, but I haven't heard anything on that front in some time.

  • @fordragos said:

wow i actually genuinely feel bad for that killer......the same thing happened to my friend who came to play survivor with me. We got put against a purple and red rank killer as 2 green and 1 grey survivor(friend) and he literally does not want to play the game now unless the majority of us is playing it.....

Getting new players into this game is hard......

Which is precisely why this game needs a proper practice mode. Gamers have been asking for this for years, and seeing the mobile version get one so quickly was really frustrating. I know the devs care, but seeing such highly requested features never come to fruition gives the impression that they don't.

  • I know that the MMR wasn't perfect, but it was better than this. This is what I experienced just a few days ago. It gets rough, for sure. I just hope that they can get the MMR turned back on.

I gotta say I think it's the opposite- the older you get, the less you worry about what other ppl are doing.

Those players playing clickity-clack on flashlight, or t-bagging at the gates? Listen sweet summer children, when I have a mortgage to pay and a toddler screaming because I gave them the WRONG color of goldfish crackers...you're not even blipping on my radar.

Well said. A whiny, teabagging gamer can't hold a candle to a screaming toddler. I can put up with a lot gaming-wise, but I'd still prefer a fun and relaxing experience at the end of a full day of working and parenting.

  • @xMain said:

I feel like every other game as Killer I get flashlight clicked at, t bagged at pallets, and bullied in end chat by a SWF group telling me to die of cancer. I don't get as many toxic people as survivor, but why are people like this? This community can be so toxic and I don't get why. Entitlement? Maybe. Even when people get what they want I get insulted relentlessly. The community gets a bad rep from people like this. Idk, maybe its just me. Just tired of people feeling the need to be mean as hell. Every game has toxic people, but I see it especially here.

I feel you. This is the most toxic multiplayer game that I have ever played, and for that reason alone it's why I have a hard time playing killer matches. It's easy to say, "shrug it off and move on", but when you're constantly being barraged by insults, teabagging, and a piss poor matchmaking system, continuing to play this game becomes more of a chore than anything else.

  • @MadLordJack said:

The pip system is almost completely worthless for that reason, and many others.

That's precisely why it pays to not care about ranks or pipping in this game. Even the devs admitted that ranks don't properly represent skill.

  • I haven't seen any streamers mention that anything has changed on the PTB, so it doesn't look like it.

Personally I find The Blight to be a ridiculous killer. Not only is he incredibly unwieldy to use, but in order for your charge to be effective in a chase you have purposefully run into a solid object, and only then can you be given the ability to hit a survivor. It makes him look like a drunken monkey more so than a terrifying killer.

  • @Blueberry said:

Well most killers were using Ruin before to fix the games early gen speeds. Devs nerfed Ruin because all the killers ran it without fixing the reason most the killers ran it. Now most of them run Corrupt Intervention just because it's the only other early game slow down that's available. So instead of fixing the problem they just made killers all swap which perk they were using as the bandaid.

Corrupt honestly isn't even very good, it's just literally the only early slow down perk that's available.

They all run Pop because like the first issue, gens are still too fast. Killers don't want to run Pop, but the games balance dictates that they have to.

I agree it feels bad to face the same perks over and over, just as it feels bad as killer to not really have much options of running the perks you really want to because they're full of "mandatory" perks.

Too many of the killer perks (just like survivor perks) are way under tuned and weak. They put so many negatives, down sides and limitations on perks with already mediocre effects.

We fix this lack of diversity by fixing early gen speeds, correcting a lot of the poorly balanced map designs we have and finally buffing/reworking like 75% of the perk roster that are just awful and way undertuned to make them actually viable. The perk buffs/reworks are just coming way, way, way too slowly. Especially when a large portion of them can be fixed with literally number tweaks, not even new coding.

Yeah old ruin was changed because the skill checks were too hard for newer players, so I understand why it was changed. I agree however that I would love to not have to run Corrupt or Pop, but gen rushing prevents me from being able to do that.

So long as SWF exists, those friends will always be able to communicate to each other where the killer is at all times (even after they die), which of course allows them to hop on generators together and knock them out within minutes. Because of that I have no choice but to use the same perks over and over again, which I agree is very boring.

  • @PAN_tastic07 said:

Anytime I play as killer (If I want to rank up or even get a kill) have to keep playing Freddy and spirit. I'm a rank 5 and just can't seem to improve on any other killers because all the survivors I match with are at least rank 3. Does anyone have any advice?

I'm in the same boat. My rank as a killer ensures that I'll be facing off against sweaty red ranks as I try to tackle a new killer that I've never played with before. DBD proper sorely needs a practice mode like it's mobile counterpart has.

  • As far as Legion goes, I'd be happy with a change that if I missed an attack that it doesn't completely deplete the special meter bar. I'm fine with the power canceling, but having to rebuild it from zero again is a bit much.

But I feel that if any killer needs a buff it would be Myers. Having to stand around and build up Evil Within just to be effective as a Killer is wasted time that could be used to hunt down survivors. At least make evil within tier 1 more of a threat than it is right now.

  • @Neferium said:

So is it that killers are more in need?

I been tempted to try a killer, but I am a pretty bad DBD player as is. That's not too exciting for others. Like... I might kill more people from boredom than hooking.

But I been eye'ing the Plague... and Legion...

It's a 4v1 game, so yeah killers are in short supply. But I wish there was a practice mode like there is with the mobile version because this game can be downright punishing for newer players, or players new to certain killers.

  • Believe it or not it does help the queue times, but they still won't be instantaneous because there will always be far more people playing survivor than killer. I for one stopped playing killer because the matchmaking was getting out of hand. I'm at rank 13 killer, but the last match I had it put me up against two rank 1 and a rank 5. After that happened I threw in the towel.

  • I would love to try out deathslinger, but with the main game not having a practice mode, and the MMR turned off, the rank that I'm currently at would have me going up against sweaty red ranks and I certainly don't want to be doing that with a killer I've never played with before.

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

But it's not going away. They'll go through with it, you might as well get used to the fact that ranks and pips will be totally worthless.

As far as we know it's not going away, but ever since they announced that they were turning it off, they haven't mentioned anything about when it might be coming back. And right now games are back to being set up by rank, which is one of the worst ways to set up a match.

Survivor: Babysitter - Tunneling is the one thing I hate running into Survivor, and so I like to use Babysitter to give anyone I rescue the best chance possible, even if it puts me in the line of fire (and for that reason I run the much more meta Decisive Strike)

Killer: Surge. I leveled into it because a streamer who mains the Doctor, Archdruiddrey, used it in his build as a convenience perk and I've grown to really like using it myself after trying it out. Also, on the subject of convenience perks, I tried Bloodhound while running a couple of games on my underleveled Wraith and it was nice.

Bloodhound and sloppy butcher is a very underrated combo!

  • Yeah I hate running meta perks. I get why they're popular, but I like doing so much more. Personally I like to be the medic of the group, so I'll run We'll Make It, Botany Knowledge, Kindred, and maybe an exhaustion perk or WGLF for bloodpoints.

  • God yes! The game can be fun in spades, but doing the same thing over and over wears thin real quickly. It needs something new.

  • The group of friends that I like to play with range between ranks 6 through 13, yet somehow we kept getting paired up with rank 1 killers. One night we literally had five rank 1 killers out of the 10 games we played. It was nuts.

On the flip side I'm also a rank 13 killer who keeps getting paired up with red rank survivors. I've all been given up on this game.😔

Hot fixes exist. A bug completely prevents you from playing the game should have been fixed by now. It's been over a month, hasn't it? It's not that they can't do it, they said it was already fixed a couple weeks ago but wouldn't come out till the next chapter, which is just plain lazy.

I completely agree. There's no excuse for major bugs not being fixed via a hotfix. And what's even more infuriating is watching new skins get released while game destroying bugs remain. It makes you wonder where the devs priorities lie.

  • When this game fires on all cylinders it is an absolute blast to play! But the utter crap matchmaking prevents it from being any fun. I can accept a loss just as easily as I can accept a win, but when I'm matched against people far more experienced than me, then that's when I have a problem.

    IMG_20200829_232345.jpg

If you want to spend real money, you should go for Nancy, since Adam is obtainable via Shards.

If going strictly for the Perks, I would prefer Adam over Nancy, Inner Strength is an okish Perk, but it does not heal that fast (the initial healing is fast, but spending the time to cleanse a Totem and going to a Locker is not really optimal), but I would prefer Deliverance, simply because it can help you a lot when left alone on the Hook.

There is obviously no guarantee that you get to use Deliverance, but thats basically the same with Inner Strength, especially as Solo Survivor.

I agree. Watching inner strength heal you incredibly fast is pretty awesome, but it takes a lot of time to get it going. For the amount of time invested you may as well just run self-care.

  • I'm a casual player of DBD so I don't have the time to invest into repurchasing perks all over again. Maybe I would prestige if the game allowed me to immediately pick the perks that I want to unlock, but alas it doesn't, and the ridiculous grind is just too much.

  • I would highly recommend running Discordance. It's the best perk to prevent gen-rushing.
