I agree with what others have suggested in that thanatophobia and blood echo are really good on the legion. If survivors don't want to heal, then blood echo is going to cancel out any exhaustion perks which means no dead hard, no sprint burst, no lithe, etc. Some have suggested to run spirit fury and endearing which aren't bad perks, but you got to be good in finding survivors since these perks help with chases.
If there's one thing I would change with the legion, I would see to it that missing an attack no longer depletes your entire power meter. I'm fine with it canceling the power itself, but it should operate the same as it does when you choose to cancel it yourself. Depleting the entire power meter on a missed attack never made any sense to me.

Well, it's not always something in-game. Some days I'll be like 'hmm I kinda wanna play DBD' ... then I launch it, go back and fourth on whether I wanna play killer or survivor and if killer what killer/build I'm gonna play.
Then I just think... 'well actually... I don't really want to play DBD'. I think I ponder too much, start thinking of all the worst scenarios such as ebony mori's, iri head, swf clicky clicky squads and all the stress with it. Then I just quit and watch youtube/twitch!
I'm a bit weird.
Not weird at all. I do the same thing! In between the toxicity, the poor matchmaking, and all the bugs, it can turn matches into a truly horrible experience. I usually get my DBD fix by watching YouTube videos of it.
It's sad when the only way you can extract enjoyment out of game is to watch other people play it since the game can't provide that for you.
-
On console the hook bug has been the worst glitch I've ever seen. It not only affects the hooks but it also affects everything else the killer does: vaulting windows, kicking generators, breaking pallets, etc.
In between the never-ending supply of bugs and the piss poor matchmaking, I'm damn near tempted to never come back.
-
Another day another bug. The devs should be embarrassed over the amount of bugs that keep popping up in this 4-year-old game. They either don't thoroughly play test their own game, or they just don't care.
-
For a game that's been out for four years, the amount of bugs that keep popping up is damn embarrassing. Between this and the piss poor matchmaking, I don't see how anyone keeps playing this game.
-
I do agree that people jumping down the devs' throats over something as trivial as a generator sound is rather ridiculous. When the devs do something right they deserve to be praised, but when they do something wrong they deserve constructive criticism, and unfortunately dead by daylight has only gotten worse over the years when it comes to bugs and glitches.
It's been over 4 years and yet dead by daylight mirrors what you would expect in an indie game that's still in beta. The amount of bugs and glitches that continue to pop up makes it seem as if they don't thoroughly play test their own game. Playing killer right now is the worst it's ever been, as everything you do as a killer is bugged. You can't hook survivors, vault windows, kick generators, kick pallets, etc, without encountering a bug.
On the survivor side, decisive strike is bugged with certain killers turning what should be a 5 second stun into a 2 second stun, which all but negates the perk entirely.
And with matchmaking no longer pairing survivors with the killer's hidden rank, means that you are guaranteed to be matched with people either far more experienced, or far less experienced than yourself.
All of this culminates into an experience that is less than ideal for everyone involved. Personally I plan on waiting until the MMR is back up and running, and these bugs are fixed before attempting killer again. Like I said when the devs do something right they deserve the praise, but it's hard to see the good when there seems to be a never-ending supply of bad.

Hey all,
This comment is off subject so forgive me for that, but what is going on with the forums? I'm trying to post a new discussion within the general discussions tab, but I have to select a category and none of those categories are within "general discussions", so how's it working now?

If they rework Mori then they need to do away with silly quests like 'kill the obsession 10 times by your own hand' stuff.
I don't know how they can make something like that and not expect a lot of tunneling.
I've heard a few suggestions that I think could work well. One suggestion would be to have Moris work on a token system. For example, 4 hooks = 1 Mori. Or have a Mori be base kit like it is with Pyramid Head, in that it only activates upon a survivor's death hook.
-
1. Dedicated chapter to game health. In other words, FIX THE DAMN BUGS!!!
2. Rework Moris and keys. Allowing all survivors to be killed after just one hook isn't fair to the survivors, nor is it fair to the killer to allow all four survivors to escape through the hatch with a single key.
3. Matchmaking (nuff said)
Runner-up - A proper training mode.

I must say I've never seen that. 2 kills either gives me a pip or safeties (if I had one of my frequent games where I barely even see a survivor).
Maybe this is a higher rank thing - in which case, yeah, that's genuinely bizarre.
It's not uncommon because I've seen it myself. Killers that go for a slug build tend to get very little points. Perfect example: Myers. Myers excels with infectious fright, and if no one has unbreakable equipped and he manages to get four slugs, then that means as Myers you only managed to hook everyone once which equals out to be a small amount of blood points and a safety pip if you're lucky.
-
Personally I'm fed up with seeing the almost never-ending supply of bugs and glitches. Literally everything you do as a killer is bugged right now: hooking survivors, kicking generators, kicking pallets, vaulting windows, etc. How there hasn't been a hot fix yet is beyond me. But you can guaran-damn-tee that the devs are all over new cosmetics, so rest assured that they'll never be late issuing those!🙄
And to make matters worse, the devs continue to ignore the constant requests for a proper training mode. Since ranks aren't an accurate representation of skill, this game is very unfair to newer players. Hell even if you're new to a certain killer the game still expects you to compete against people of similar rank, which can make playing as a killer you've never played with before very aggravating.
Despite all the frustrations I kept going back to dead by daylight because it can be a lot of fun, but now seeing the game in the state that it is with it's frustrating matchmaking and killer bugs galore, I literally have no desire to play it. And that's something that I never thought I would hear myself say.😔
-
If half of your team disconnects, then everyone should be guaranteed a safety pip, even the Killer. Expecting two survivors to fix five generators is absurd.
-
Personally I find any totem that appears next to generators to be the worst in the game. Placing hexes next to the very thing that survivors are actively looking for is ridiculous.
It would be great if the devs implemented new totem spawn locations to coincide with the new map designs.
-
@Elena said:
For a key to come in play, the survivors have to do their objective, gens.
For a mori to come in play, the killers have to do their objective, hook survivors.
True, but there's quite a difference here. All killers have to do is hook a survivor once to activate a Mori, whereas survivors have to complete four generators to get the hatch to spawn, assuming of course everyone is still alive by that point.
-
As others have stated, keys and moris are getting a rework. Until then, try to not let these things frustrate you too much. I know that can be easier said than done, but not caring about pipping or ranks can make a world of difference.
If I notice that a killer is using a secret offering, which most likely is a Mori, I've learned to accept that it's most likely going to be a quick match as the killer is no doubt going to tunnel every person after the first hook. It sucks, but for now all we can do is accept it and move on.

Is Ash still glitched? Every Ash I’ve played with is still his usual loud af self
It's possible he was patched along with the terror radius bug. If so then that's good news, but we need that killer patch more than anything!
-
It also affects more than just the hook. I've been unable to vault windows, open lockers, and kick generators. How in the world there hasn't been a hot fix yet for this I'll never understand.
Last night me and a few friends were playing survivor and the queue times were longer than they've been in quite some time. This crappy bug is preventing a lot of people from playing killer and it's really starting to show.

I love plague but I never play her. The aiming for vile and corrupt purge is horrible on console. The amount of times I’ve seen the purges go through survivors is ridiculous.
I played her for the first time a while back on PS4 and I kept noticing The Purge going through survivors that I knew for a fact that I hit. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed this.
Maybe the hit validation server has improved this.
-
There was a nice graphics update but the new chapter update brought with it a plethora of problems. There's a really bad glitch affecting killers right now that prevents you from hooking survivors, vaulting windows, opening lockers, and kicking generators. Ash is also glitched and not making any sounds.
So in some ways you haven't really missed anything since this game is known for it's problems.

Remember, this is the same company that let the basement bug (the one where you couldn’t control your Survivor if you got hooked in there, it was a free kill for the Killer) pass. It’s disappointing, but not surprising that all these other bugs are passing.
I don't like saying negative things about any developer because God knows I'm not one and I know they work hard, but I'll never understand how so many bugs make it through testing. If the general populace can easily come across these game breaking bugs, then surely the devs did too prior to release.

I've encountered in every match so far and survivor starting to play Putrid Oak a lot isn't this gameplay abuse of the bug/exploit and bannable? if not going start dc every time I see this offering played not fair.
The only way this becomes an exploit is if the devs openly acknowledge that it's a bug that players need to stop taking advantage of.
It's still boggles my mind how such a bug was allowed to pass the testing phase. Having a bug effect everything you do as a killer is detrimental to playing any killer, and considering how few killer mains there are out there makes waiting lobbies for survivor that much worse.

Number 2 and 5 are Killer Bugs.
Also, may I introduce you to the 2 second Stun against some Killers? I mean, that Spirit I went against yesterday probably did not mind that she had only 0,3 seconds of distance gained by me to cover. Let alone the Hill Bug where Killers took a lot of advantage from.
And honestly, all the Bugs mentioned... Never experienced them in my game except for the sound Bug, but rarely. This is for my Killer games. For Survivor games, I noticed the "cannot Hook"-Bug exactly once. So they are kinda rare.
This does not mean that they should not be fixed ASAP, but it is not like Killer is unplayable.
I have to disagree with the hook bug being rare. I've encountered the hook bug in multiple Killer games now, and that same bug affects vaulting windows, kicking generators, and opening lockers. And in many games I've encountered all three, but chances are most Killers have encountered at least one of the three within their matches as of late.

It was NOT introduced in the mid chapter. It was a side effect of them fixing the Nurse hill bug (which, mind you, was in the game FAR longer than this Survivor bug) which happened in 4.1.2. The Blight update, 4.2, was the very next patch after that update.
And I didn't learn about the bug on the forums, or anywhere else on the internet. I learned of it in the game.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/discussion/comment/1624474#Comment_1624474
The heartbeat was already fixed.
Honestly, if you think this is all so easy, fix it yourself.
I never said it was easy to fix, but all anyone has to do is simply play the game to come across these bugs. The hook bug is still present in the game, and very detrimental to playing killer. Upon seeing such a major bug should have delayed the chapter update until it was fixed, because the very same bug also affects opening lockers and kicking generators.

It seems like a lot of these bugs could be avoided if they just play tested the game thoroughly. Coming across the hook bug and the hill bug didn't require a specific set of steps. It could happen with any survivor or killer. I played a doctor match last night and I had forgo two hooks because of the glitch.
I just hope that unlike the hill glitch we won't have to wait until the next chapter update to get a fix for the heartbeat bug and the hook bug.
-
I haven't played with him yet but I've watched plenty of streams of people playing him, and it seems the reason why he was designed this way is because it would be incredibly easy to hit survivors on his first Rush attack. This way survivors have a bit of a reprieve to dodge his attack.
-
Freddy and Pyramid Head are pretty great at map control, especially Freddy. But if you're looking for insta-down, then I'd recommend Bubba, as his recent rework has made him pretty deadly.

Thing is - it's hard to tell whether the other survivors want that or not. I've had people cuss me out postgame and threaten to report for 'holding the game hostage' when I was actually trying to give them a chance.
What I do is that I will hit a nearby pallet or generator, and if they don't want to participate then they won't cooperate. That tells me all I need to know, and so I will proceed to play the game normally.

It's not a bug. It's how it always worked. There is nothing to suggest that it wasn't designed that way.
It doesn't make sense for it not to be a bug. I literally had to boot up the game tonight (it wasn't running in the background or anything), and upon doing so it displayed what my rank was currently at and what it's going to be, and they both showed that my ranks were staying the same. But in order to get the right number to show I had to boot up the game a second time. That is definitely a bug.
-
@StarLost said:
I agree, from a Killer perspective.
If people start DCing, I either have to let the remaining few farm and win or I feel legitimately guilty.
Same. Killing the two remaining survivors when there's still five gens left to be done means that regardless if your killer or survivor, you're walking away with a pitiful amount of blood points. Whenever that happens and I'm playing as killer, I'll let the other two farm because at least that way we all walk away with something.
-
@doitagain_ said:
You have to restart your game for it to actually take effect, I think it’s a bug. Try it.
Yup that was it. Sure enough it's a bug. All three of us had a boot up the game to play it tonight so why we had to restart it I'll never understand. Before it reset though I managed to get back to rank four, but after the reset I'm now back at rank nine so that was really defeating.😠 But the fact that this was yet another bug is ridiculous. Bugs and glitches are all too common with DBD. Do they not play test this stuff?
-
I encountered this yesterday myself. Someone made a good suggestion that I wholeheartedly agree with, in that for every survivor that disconnects, you should be given a quarter of a pip. So what that means is that if half of your team disconnects, then you're guaranteed to be given a safety pip. To me that makes perfect sense, and it's something that should've been implemented into the game years ago.

I got lucky that the Killer was face camping and the other two were very eager to save him so I sat on gens and did all of them lool
I'm worried that that's what I'll need to happen too. Obviously I can't hope for an AFK killer because then there's no way I would be able to finish 4 generators, even if I came across a killer who wanted to farm.
-
@GodDamn_Angela said:
You only need to be on it when it finishes. I did it way back when it was first released. Its actually not that bad, unless you get unlucky and everyone is actually doing gens. Or is that lucky? Because how often do all survivors do gens?
I know, right?😄 If every survivor is working on generators, then that's awesome! But it is absolutely detrimental to getting this challenge done.
-
@MadLordJack said:
I didn't. I don't have a SWF to play with.
Maybe you could pull it off if you just leave it on all the time and wait for that 1 in a hundred trial.
I have nothing else to run until the next tome opens so I may as well leave it on and hope for the best. 🤞
-
Yeah the bug is pretty bad. I played against a pyramid head last night and he lost a match because he kept encountering the hook bug. He eventually caught on that if you drop the survivor and pick them back up it will usually fix the problem, but of course that's extra time spent hooking than he would have liked.
The game also stutters like crazy when trying to open lockers or kick pallets. It boggles the mind as to why such serious glitches exist with these chapter updates. It makes me wonder do the devs thoroughly play test their games, because for the amount of glitches that exist it sure as hell doesn't feel like it.
-
All I care about with Legion is that if I miss an attack, it won't completely deplete my power. I'm fine with it being deactivated, but having to build the power back up from scratch on a missed attack for a power that doesn't down survivors is a bit much.
-
Since I play the game casually and can't invest hours upon hours into getting better (work + parenting makes that a tad difficult 🙂), I usually bounce back and forth between Freddy, Pyramid Head, and Bubba. If I need the blood points I usually fire up Legion or the Doctor.
Lately it's been incredibly difficult now that the MMR is off, because I'm getting matched with people who are clearly more skilled than I am. I don't mind losing, but having countless matches where I'm not very effective can be really crushing.

I forgot about rank reset too. It’s like I literally go in the game to die. I feel it’s a waste of my time to even try if when I’m trying it’s like the killer know every single move I’m going to make. I guess I’ll stop playing for awhile again and I like this game. I’m glad I got it when it was free because I wouldn’t pay for an online only game that have a horrible matchmaking system.
The MMR will rank games based on your skill level with each killer. Right now it's just setting up matches based on your rank, which isn't a fair indication of skill.
Playing a killer you've never played with before against far more experienced players than yourself does not a fun match make. Like most people I'll wait until the MMR is back on before tackling Killer again.
-
The best tip I could offer is learn when to drop a chase. There will be SWF teams where one person is designated to be the looper. Their job is to lure you away from generators. If you find yourself in a chase for more than 10 seconds, or they're leading you away from generators, drop it and go back to the generators!
-
@MongolPSR said:
This is what their mmr system did in the first place. According to the devs, rank is not a good barometer of skill, just the amount of time people can put in.
when they put their system back in place the rainbow ranks will happen consistently.
;)
From the sounds of it the MMR is being fixed to match survivors against your skills as a killer which admittedly it wasn't really doing in the first place. If done correctly then they should have no problem finding adequate players for matches.
I mean we've all encountered ranked twenties that never appear to be legit rank twenties as their sporting perks from multiple survivors/killers. A skill-based ranking system makes perfect sense for this game, I just hope that they'll nail it with this next go around.
-
You're not wrong, matchmaking is a s*** show right now until the MMR is back on, but you did manage to get two kills so I wouldn't necessarily count it as a loss but more of a tie.
What I find a little frustrating is that the devs keep saying the MMR is coming back "soon", so for all we know that could mean two days, two weeks, two months, who knows? I've never played with Ghostface before and I really want to give him a shot, but at the rank I'm at I would be facing off against purple and red ranked survivors on a killer that I'm brand new to. And as you can attest to, that's not something I care to do.

I recently did the same on a Mikey game where two people killed themselves on first hook.
That was nice of you. At the very least they let themselves be hooked, but I know that's little comfort for the rest of their team.
-
There needs to be a mechanic in place that makes life easier for the remaining survivors who don't disconnect. I played a match as Freddy the other night, and two players disconnected within the first two minutes with five gens left to be done. I brought in a cake too which really surprised me. I felt bad for the other two survivors so I let them farm, and because of the cake we walked away with quite a few blood points.
If BHVR isn't going to incorporate bots into the game to take over for people who disconnect, then at the very least you should be guaranteed a safety pip if half of your team disconnects.
-
New chapter means new bugs. Such is the life of dead by daylight. But hey there are new skins you can buy! Because that's what matters right?🙃 Not play testing because that would be ridiculous.🙄

Maybe BVHR could make it so if someone disconnect's it automatically gives us a quarter of a pip? So if 4 people disconnect that's 1 pips and there's nothing to worry about. Plus BHVR removed the DC penalty again for some reason. I feel like that is heavily needed.
They keep removing it because hackers keep finding ways around it unfortunately.
A quarter of a pip for every disconnect isn't a bad idea either. But if half of your team disconnects, then I think at the very least you should be guaranteed a safety pip.

That's a lot of gen information, which is nice, but it doesn't help you in the midst of a chase. If you want to keep sloppy butcher then I would recommend the rest be BBQ, Ruin, and Undying, or you could try Sloppy Butcher, BBQ, Pop and brutal strength/endearing.

Personally, I would want a training/bot mode just to get a grasp on new killers or killers I’ve never tried without going into a real match cold, and getting slaughtered by high rank survivors.
Totally agree, a practice mode is long overdue.
Yeah that's what makes trying out new killers so hard for newer or casual players. It's like being thrown into an Olympic pool and expecting to compete against veterans despite the fact that you've never swam before.
-
I completely agree. The fact that dead by daylight doesn't teach you how to play the game is one of it's biggest failures. The fact that newer players have no choice but to seek out online guides or streamers to teach them how to play because the game doesn't provide that for them, let alone a way for them to practice, is disappointing to say the least.
The practice mode on the mobile game has been successful, so why there can't be one for the main game is beyond me.
