  • I’m not saying you complain but if you try both sides and you ever get carried to a hook where even a full 12 seconds isn’t enough to make it to anything remotely safe you might gain a little more insight into how a situation like that feels. Also survivors are human just like killers.. it’s natural to get upset or complain sometimes.

  • So far I’ve had maybe 7 matches in the Police Station. I think 4 as killer and 3 as survivor. Personally I haven’t experienced any performance issues myself but I’ve definitely gotten lost going around in circles until I find out how to get to where I was intending to go. I’ve carried survivors into dead ends and had to backtrack to a hook lol. As a survivor I’ve gotten stuck in a maze just praying they don’t go into struggle before I make it to them. As Wraith the extra speed while cloaked has given me trouble getting through some of the narrow doorways fora second or two but my 2 matches as Trapper was a slaughter. I only had a brown bag and brown setting speed addon but it was enough to make a large portion of the map an absolute death sentence.

    This is the correct answer.

Long time player, first time interacting with the community lol But as far as killers go...

Has anybody ever thought to mention The Tall Man as a possible killer??

    🤔🤔🤔🤔

Super happy to have you join the forum community! I hope you enjoy it and continue to stay around for a long time<3

  • @GoshJosh said:

Absolutely not. It is one of the most balanced perks in the game. If anything, DH should only apply to a totem once it has two or more tokens. The fact it can be cleansed first thing in the match before you even get a speed boost for hooking a couple survivors is atrocious.

I’m only going to focus on your first statement because it’s specifically regarding devour hope and I completely agree with you. Devour Hope is a wonderful perk.. sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn’t. Playing against it as a survivor or using it as a Killer.. I think it’s a fantastic perk.

Are you new into the game? Theres no way i could have focused and tunneled her and she got almost 3k points. Unless you re afk in the match, ofc.

I’m not denying or accusing you of anything but yes.. a survivor can cleanse a totem and touch a gen then get tunnelled and slugged off the hook. BT barely gives survivors a chance anymore.. I can count to 12 then put them right back on the hook if I truly wanted to.

  • @xEzekanarioX said:

Survivors keep dcing even if there are 4 cakes. At least die in the hook or admit you re terrible at the game. Dont blame me for doing 7 hooks with 5gens still lol.

Have you ever had a match where survivors did all the gens in 5 minutes and you struggled to get even a single hook?

  • I wouldn’t mind seeing a 1 survivor vs 1 killer friendly mode. Equal bloodpoints given afterwards with the option to donate to the other player for good sportsmanship or respect for their skill.

  • I would give her a hug<3

I think the Twins have a lot going for them and don’t necessarily need anything but for a more serious answer..

If I had to pick I would go with something basic like giving the option to charge a pounce to initially unbind Vikki from Charlotte.

  • I legitimately forgot that I still have about 140 third year anniversary cakes left over on my Ghostface alone.. I’ve been bringing cakes every match I play though for both survivor and killer. I do like to keep a few on some characters though even if it’s just a couple.

  • @PissedWraithMain said:

What playstyle are you going for?

Enduring, Infectious Fright, brutal strength or STBFL, and Bbq for bloodpoints. I enjoy using crouch for stealth or at loops

    Overview

I've spent a good portion of today thinking on NOED, its issues, and how they can be remedied and the perk made more fun & rewarding. I have made 3 iterations of a rework, and in this post I will explain the thought process I had throughout, why I think its a general improvement from the perk, and how I think it is more fun.

    The Issues

Before I can talk about a solution, I need talk about what problems I think exist. A solution in search of a problem is pointless, so here is my list of issues I see with NOED.

    • It is a frustrating to be the NOED dummy that gets downed before the hex is cleansed.
    • It has no meaningful counterplay for the person that gets downed with it.
    • It is an overall weak perk primarily used by players that do poorly during a trial, essentially rewarding them for nothing.
    • The perk is overall weak if you are good at the game.
    • When it is used by good players, its usually because they are pretending to be new until the exit gates are powered.

To summarize: The perk gives you more value if you do poorly than if you do well, leaving the survivors to feel cheated. IMO this is not healthy for the game. (Note that I do not consider doing all 5 bones to be reasonable counterplay, and included in my rework is a new way for NOED to spawn but with more counterplay.)

    Why change is in order

One of the people I talked to told me: "I don't think NOED needs change, honestly"

My response was "I could argue the game functions as is and needs no new content or changes, as it is playable right now. But, that's not true because things can always be improved. So the question isn't really 'does it need to be changed?', it's: 'is it a good change?'" They changed their mind. "I think it is. Yes."

Dead by daylight is a game that receives constant updates, improvements can always be had. If NOED can be made a more fun perk, it should.

    The changes in question

This section will talk about the roots of my idea, up to the final iteration.

Currently, NOED has a 4% Haste, which is very small and never why people select the perk. My idea is to make the haste the primary function of NOED, with Exposed being a secondary bonus. How do you do that? Stacks. Here is my first draft/iteration of the rework, made to illustrate the concept.

     https://imgur.com/U74RorX

This first draft had each you got during the game contribute 1 token, up to 4. Each would give you a speed bonus, up to 16%. (Totally busted, I know. This changes in my next iteration.) 4 tokens would cause exposed. Besides the aforementioned speed bonus being insane, its not too difficult to get 4 hooks before endgame.

That takes me to my second iteration of the rework, which focuses on balance. https://imgur.com/PahCgMu

The first and most obvious change is having the token amount directly correlate with Haste, instead of having tokens being worth percentages. The second change I made was requiring each stack to be gained by hooking a survivor for the first time. This means you can't get your 4 stacks from 2 survivors. The third change I made is maybe the least obvious from a quick glance, but still very important. NOED now selects a specific dull totem to manifest itself in, and if that dull totem is broken before all generators are completed the Hex will remain inactive. My reasoning for adding with was making doing dull totems when you see them a reasonable task, as only cleansing 4 totems would always have NOED still light.

My third iteration focuses mainly on giving my rework a BHVR touch, part of that being reformatting and part of that being an important change. https://imgur.com/mpNk2vO

This version shifts back the haste values, having 4 Tokens exclusively make survivors exposed. This change takes inspiration from Devour Hope, and is to make the last stack feel more special and meaningful. The reformatting is not important to the rework so I will not cover it, but I did my best to imitate exactly how an official perk would look. (I used Devour Hope, Huntress's Lullaby, BBQ & Chili, etc. for reference.)

My fourth and final iteration is a very minor balance change of values to increase the gap between low and high tokens & their associated haste buffs. https://imgur.com/xZ9irjY

    Summary

The above iterations were all made with a goal in mind: Rewarding killers above and beyond what the perk currently does for doing well, and rewarding killers that did poorly far less. This means Survivors will feel cheated far less often, and killers will reap better benefits from the perk for doing better during the trial. Everybody wins, and all issues I have listed before are reduced or eliminated.

    Note to BHVR

Don't be afraid to change base mechanics or perks of the game.

Your game can ALWAYS be better.

Don't be afraid you would be pandering to your players by adding a feature they requested.

It's totally possible to just agree with what they're saying.

Don't be afraid to experiment reworks like this in the PTB.

    That's what it's for.

And thank you for making this game!

    Fair criticism is welcome!

I’ll be 100% honest.. my dyslexia would make reading all of those paragraphs take all day so in short NOED is an acceptable perk as is IMO.

  • All about that Luck:p

If your trap catches someone out of sight and escapes quickly it’s also possible they were running in pairs so a teammate freed them.

If I’m in a duo I’ll run in front as a human land mine detonator.. in solo I run behind lol.. I trust myself more in regards to freeing them and being willing to take a hit than if the role was reversed.

  • I was trio swiffing with 2 randoms that friended up with me. They were really laid back but 3 or 4 games in a row one of them kept last second swapping to a key. That’s actually how we first met.. they last second swapped to a key vs my twins. I didn’t actively try to slug but when it happened I hooked the key swapper and waited for a Kobe to second stage and followed the snail trail for the other slugs lol. Typically if I see a key from beginning to end of the pregame lobby I just play as I originally intended to and I don’t put on Franklin’s or anything like that.

I joked with them and said I would sandbag and lead the killer to them if they keep key swapping like that. I don’t care all that much about keys but I told them to at least be holding it in your hand at the start of the lobby. Especially since killers can’t last second swap to a different character with maybe a more suitable power and build etc.

I understand why people last second swap so definitely not bashing them here.. I get it. We all do what we gotta do sometimes.

My main perks are solidarity and autodidact so you bet your ass I’m healing you if I find you

I love healing too and if you’re a Solididact gamer.. if I ever see you in a match I’ll be sure to get smacked and make my way over to you for that sweet, sweet Autodidact and possibly solidarity valueeee baby!😋👍

  • Have you ever spawned into a map and you hear another survivor breathing down your neck or if it’s Jeff you can hear him 60 feet away?

If grunts of pain are removed then I think alternate breathing patterns should be recorded for each character.. even if that means they intermittently hold their breath they still need some sort of natural sound that could potentially reveal their nearby presence even if it’s extremely subtle. People running for their lives or hiding to avoid being slaughtered would have an increased heart and breathing rate.. this would be even harder to control if you’re holding back the pain from a significant wound.

  • @miketheratguy said:

With various people saying that this map or that killer should be disabled and so forth, I decided to turn the frequent conversations into something that may be a little more fun. Imagine that you work at BHVR and you have one job: Deleting content that you don't like. You can't go crazy though, you are limited to this:

    One map. ONE.

One chapter set of characters. What I mean by this is, say that you want to delete the Twins. Elodie therefore has to go too. Say you want to get rid of Steve Harrington (how could you?), that means that Nancy, the Demogorgon, and all skins go with him. We're not talking about any of the bugs that were introduced with any of the chapters, we're not talking about any previous versions that may have been better before a nerf. We're talking about the characters and the characters only, as they are right now (or were before any bugs that were introduced with this update). For those who were available individually (such as Ash) or those that came with the base game (such as Trapper) you have to choose a member of the base game from the other side to be deleted along with them. Example: If you hate Nea, you have to delete either Trapper, Wraith or Hillbilly as well.

One perk. ONE. Killer or survivor, doesn't matter.

One game mechanic / gameplay feature. This could be the need to build up multiple perk tiers, or the existence of the hatch, or keys, or generator speed, or the ability of killers to camp, etc. Remember, we're not talking about changing or substituting anything, we're talking about looking at a list of things that make this game what it is and being able to press a button to make those things no longer exist.

So there you have it. You must delete ONE map, ONE perk, ONE game mechanic, and ONE set of characters that either came together in a chapter, or, if the character you want to delete didn't come with anybody else, you have to choose a base game character from the other side to be deleted with them. What would you choose? Please, try not to argue. This isn't about survivors vs killers or fair versus unfair. Balance doesn't matter. People losing out on their favorite things doesn't matter. This is all just a hypothetical scenario.

    Possibly delete:

The Swamp, Spine Chill, Bloodlust, Curtain Call chapter because of Clown.. sadly I guess this means I would lose Kate though.. I’d say Demise of the Faithful in order to erase The Plague but Infectious Fright came with that chapter and I couldn’t risk losing it lol.

  • Oh no I think it could both ways for sure. The Pyramid head that I mentioned camping and smacking me probably was in fact fed up after previous games and I had a key with a hatch offering just to get a tome finished.. on the flip side I was coming off of some rough games just prior as well so my mentality going in was screw the next killer I face, I’m getting out with no mercy. I don’t mind a little bm from a killer if it’s amusing for the moment between them and I but I personally don’t see the need to full out taunt/tbag or bm a player. Especially when I’m playing survivor. Killer can be rough or lonely at times as it is and I get no satisfaction by rubbing it in.

  • Yea it’s been a bummer ever since this was implemented because if I see a Laurie in the lobby but I’m not Myers or a player named “mori me Ghostface” but I’m queued as Trapper It’s impossible to switch and have a little extra fun.

  • I’ve never heard of this happening but with the way hatch is now maybe it’s possible a jigsaw box and the hatch simultaneously shared the same spawn location making it impossible for the Billy box to appear. I honestly don’t know but that would be my best guess.

  • There are tons of red ranks that got there by sitting on gens and being altruistic. It’s okay to drop chases in strong areas with a good looper if there’s a chance you’ll catch a weak link or two hanging out near some gens. This isn’t always the case but you’d be surprised.

  • I’m sure you’ll have tons of people to choose from but I’ll sub in a pinch if you ever need. I am NA though.

  • @ill_Boston_lli said:

I'm on console you're on pc I ran you for 3 gens beating me on hook and nodding only makes me laugh. I mean If it makes you feel better to Bm me on hook after a chase like that I guess go right ahead.

like this?… but Pyramid Head didn’t get a happy ending..

    https://youtu.be/II_xp6JJgoM

  • For starters a survivor must be in the injured state for a nearby teammate to be capable of being awarded a protection hit. Protections have a 3 second cooldown before they can be awarded again and the max range from an injured survivor is a little over 30 feet.

It shouldn’t only be applying to basic attacks because you can take a cross map hatchet and be awarded a protection hit.. well I mean maybe forced penance requires basic attacks despite it not being in the description iirc but protection hits have changed a lot and been inconsistent over pretty much every patch.

Is anyone else overwhelmingly getting this map, and have been doing so for weeks? It honestly seems like at least 1/3 of my games are Midwich.

I mean, it could be RPD or Hawkins, but it's just odd.

I got Midwich back to back as Trapper but I personally like Trapper on that map. Then got RPD as Wraith and as Piglette right after. Could be completely random but it’s possible data is being collected on certain maps..

Trapper on the same indoor map then 2 stealth killers on RPD.

then as a survivor the 2 times I ended up in RPD it was against a Wraith.

I legitimately used to swear by Boil Over like 2-3 years ago. Having a killer struggle so hard just to make it through a doorway.. especially funny if they had agitation without iron grasp. Hooks used to seem more spread out back then, sabo could be 99’d etc.

It’s never been an amazing perk but I used to get a real kick out of it lol.

    Both

I agree with this. The combo is a lot of fun.

  • BHVR works towards removing glitched cosmetics.. meanwhile people are building YouTube/Twitch fanbases by showcasing modded cosmetics, props, items etc.

I don’t blame them because having that kind of creative freedom is a blast.

Problem is that it’s entirely free to alter the game to your liking while people that are willingly purchasing things like cosmetics legitimately aren’t able to mix and match as they please.

If I were to make my survivor looks like Joel from the Last of Us or my Clown look like John Leguizamo from Spawn or something then there would never be any reason to support BHVR with a single dime yet I haven’t heard about any ‘meaningful’ warnings or a statement that they will be ACTIVELY detecting and banning anyone modding the game in any way, including custom icons/character pics.

It makes the Killers shut up, even while searching for a lobby.

But oh my god these peeps never stop making noise.

I’m literally listening to the doctor breathe down my neck as I’m trying to write this..

  • I’m going to go ahead and just say it..

My honest opinion on why I think Billy was destroyed instead of just changing maybe 2-3 addons is to incentivize people to ditch an original, well designed killer and either buy or play another one more often.. like Bubba.. a licensed killer.

  • Probably me😏

Hey, if we are talking about making useless perks viable lets get some survivor ones too! Buckle Up, Flip Flop, No Mither, Open Handed, Slippery Meat, This Is Not Happening, Wake Up and Up the Ante are all perks off the top of my head that are essentially useless and will never be brought by someone other than a new player/memer

Buckle up and for the people combo is god-tier…

  • Maybe it will and maybe it won’t;p

  • “This hatch I found baffles me. As I witnessed the last Survivor being, yet again, the victim of the dreaded hook I stumbled upon it as I slowly backed away. I finally found my keyhole. With my last strength I opened it, entered its tunnels and somehow found my way to the campfire. Now I sit here contemplating its purpose. Is hope more important for the Entity than I thought? Is this hatch just a treat you give a dog to as encouragement? For now I take what I can get.” - Benedict Baker

The hatch exists because the Entity allows it.

    Too weak? Too strong? Perfect?

I personally think it’s a bit too weak since it doesn’t really stop the killer from just chasing you again. If we gave it the self preservation effect for 8 to 10 seconds I feel the perk would be perfect

I’d love to hear all your thoughts on the perk!

At the very least I don’t think the 60 seconds should start the very moment you’re unhooked and there should be a slight grace period. I would say 12 second extra so if you get smacked with borrowed time activated you at least have a chance to take the speed boost and try to make it somewhere safe if you’re actually being tunnelled. If you go down during that 12 second grace period because there was no BT then DS would be usable immediately regardless of the grace period. If it were to work this way then a further buff would be something like recharging an extra 20-30 seconds once you’ve fully recovered on the ground if you were slugged immediately off the hook and left bleeding. This version does sound extremely powerful though and possibly too strong but I couldn’t say for sure unless I saw it testing in real matches.

  • Clown, Plague, Slinger.

  • @Micaius said:

I don't want to have to bring perks like decisive, borrowed time, unbreakable, etc. But if a killer decides they want to tunnel or camp or slug, then those perks would have saved me and my friends. If a killer decides to be nicer though, then the perks are useless and I was better off running a more fun and unique build I wanted to run. But I can't just choose to have fun killers, I can't tell the other killers that they're playing wrong, and I don't want to bring perks out of revenge to a killer who probably didn't deserve it. I just want everyone to have fun with this game but some people only think about themselves. Am I really just supposed to bring nothing but meta perks every game just to counter this? I can't tell a killer not to camp me to death, or not to tunnel my friend to death, I can't tell them they're ruining the game for me and my friends. I know there's no clear answer to this question, it's just a fact of the game. But if I do nothing but bring meta perks, suddenly I'm the toxic player. And if I'm not the toxic player, I'm the victim of toxicity and I just should have been toxic in the first place. It's a lose lose scenario. I don't want to frustrate killers, I don't teabag, I don't bring flashlights, I don't bring keys, I try to play killer too, I understand both sides. Yet they always treat everyone as if they're the same toxic people they saw last match, never giving anyone the benefit of the doubt and not caring whether they have fun. I know there's no point to saying any of this or what I'm about to ask, but can toxic killers and survivors just... Stop? Stop hurting each other. Stop hating each other. Survivors, you don't need to teabag, the killer is a person just like you. You don't need to click your flashlight more than once at a time. You don't need to equip a key last second before the match starts. You shouldn't run in the killers face just because you have decisive. You can just leave at the gates like a normal person, or stand there at least if you want to give the killer some hits. Your pointing and beckoning emotes are to signal to randoms, not the killer. This is the reason me, my friends, and all the nice survivors get ######### and turn into people like you. This is the reason why killers have no mercy towards anyone, they stop caring whether anyone deserves it, and just say if it's one of you, it's all of you. I get that there are nice killers, I really do, I'm not denying their existence nor is this directed towards them in any way. This is not a message to all killers and all survivors, you know if this message is for you. Stop being dumb. Stop being #########. The world is filled with people like your family, your friends, everyone you cherish. To be an ass just because you think you might never meet that person is just so childish and sad.

TL;DR For the love of God, just stop being toxic. The devs can only slap your wrists so hard.

Aftercare is kind of nice if you manage to get everyone’s aura without being hooked.

Autodidact is a blast if you ever get blessed with skill checks but 90% of the time I’ll get 3 tokens then literally heal 30 health states on teammates without a single skill check popping up the rest of the match.

I have had situations when I had 5 tokens, running WGLF, and we’ll make it still active.. actually got a skill check on a fresh slug and it was like old insta syringe.

that make you go "Man, how was I not using this sooner this is pretty helpful!"?'

Currently mine are Alert and Lucky Break. Seeing the killer wherever they are when they perform a break action gives you a lot of valuable information. And I didn't start using LB until it showed up in one of Leon's bloodwebs and I paired it with BTB. I'm mad that I didn't start using it as soon as that buff went live however long ago that was.

Who knows I could be sleeping on even more perks at this point, there's so many in the game than there was 5 years ago.

Plunders and appraisal is actually really nice. I also like enduring, brutal, and fire up combo

Guys, all I want is kindred on David and yet somehow the bloodweb refuses to give it to me. It never shows up, I'm at the cap but I don't want to prestige because then I need to start over again. So my only option is to keep on pushing and hoping I get it eventually, but by doing that I have wasted so much BP already and it's super frustrating. It feels like the game knows I really want it and just laughs at me each time I get a new web without kindred. :(

How many perks do you have on David currently and hypothetically if you had a character maxed out with perks available to you (unlocked teachable perks).. how many perk/pages of perks would that be in total?

  • Oh thank the lord I don’t have to defend the Spirit for a 3rd time in one week;p

My home-girl Sally though.. y’all know she definitely requires skill and I love facing above average to S-tier nurses to see what’s up and how long I can manage to last. I’d say god-tier but a true g-tier is rare.

The saddest thing about the Nurse rework in my opinion was the recharge mechanic. I understand why it was done but it just made her kit feel less.. elegant. I wish they could have figured out an alternative method to reach the desired effect.
