  • I had a similar situation recently with a Clown when I already planned to slam that bad boy down extra early to be safe but the pallet dropped and I was on the floor. The no stun issue happened as well but he was so far back when starting the lunge that nearly any patch but this one likely was a guaranteed miss.

We had that little moment where we walked over to me, glanced at the pallet a few times then he shook his head no as I was beginning to wiggle no hahaha. It was a feel good because it was clear we both were like.. nahhh... bugs in OUR dbd? No way;p

I think BBQ is an incredibly balanced perk, there's outplay to it on the Survivor side, it encourages killers to leave the person on the hook and get immediately into a chase and get people off gens. I really do not see that this perk needs changing in the slightest.

I’m definitely with you on this one.

    Title.

Tinkerer removes the terror radius (includes Freddy's lullaby)

Borrowed time activates with a terror radius (does not work if the unhooker is asleep and hears the lullaby)

If Freddy's lullaby isn't a terror radius, as is the case with borrowed time, why is it a terror radius for tinkerer? It's a Clear contradiction and double standard imo

Okay I’ll try to be short and sweet

    • If you are awake you will never hear Freddy’s lullaby
    • If you are awake and Freddy has Tinkerer or anything else TR related it will function as it would on any killers TR
    • Freddy’s lullaby I believe uses 2 dimensional diffusion which essentially means that his distance can’t be localized so good luck figuring out if he’s chasing someone 32m away or 5 feet around the corner from you while you’re asleep
    • Infectious Fright actually works with Freddy as long as the survivors close by are awake.. they will scream
    • Oblivious status in general will prevent perks like borrowed time from working like if you blind a killer that has Nemesis for example then try to unhook with BT shortly after.. BT won’t work

I think that covered the basic gist of a few things

  • 5 fully repaired generators or only 1 survivor left alive being the conditions required to spawn the hatch is nice and simple. No new mechanics need to be implemented and the overall gameplay is not drastically altered. It’s a shift towards making the hatch and key situation a little more fair and further adjustments could always be made in the future.

I’m at least in favour of this type of change being a good place to start.

    • I don’t bring in keys as a survivor and I don’t mind facing them as killer but multiple survivors keying out is definitely lame in my opinion •

  • @Laurie268 said:

The only nerf I would give to keys is making them more rare than they are now.

That’s an option but years of stockpiling already defeats the purpose even if hoarding keys wasn’t an intentional goal. I have tons of keys but I personally never use them. I would have even more but I consciously pick medkits over keys in my bloodweb.

Then there’s the plunderers, appraisal, and coin offerings combo. They would have to make the chances of looting a key from a chest so rare that it would become an urban legend or something lol:p

I’m this close to turning it off, or just turning off the game in general. Was the Killer and had a 4 man survivor squad all cross play. I couldnt even swing without the screen freezing up and giving them a chance to easily gain a mile on me. This happens all the time to me if there are 3 or more survivors who are on crossplay. It makes the game almost to the point of unplayable. But they won’t fix it cause why would they. I had to just DC and be done with it. Glad I’m getting punished for the game’s own problems. Thanks devs. Does anyone else experience this? I’m a PS4 player.

I’ve just come from a match and for absolutely no reason they were just clicking the flash light at me body blocking doing whatever they could to piss me off. If that doesn’t put people off being killer I have no idea what will. I’m still learning and it’s quite disheartening for me. I wasn’t toxic and the match had literally just started.

I know I shouldn’t let it bother me but I feel so frustrated now so much I loaded into another match and didn’t do anything.

Any tips on how to not rage 😂😂😂🤷🏻‍♀️😪

The harsh reality is that we share this world with some truly nasty individuals.. sociopaths, violent and abusive people whether it’s physical or verbal, you name it.. they play video games too.

Obviously this is the most extreme example and a lot of times BMing in a video game is just someone’s way of being silly. However.. Dbd is a community built around a very simple etiquette and that is to express and maintain mutual respect for each other. If I play NHL online and there’s slashes after the whistle or bm after a hit it’s them playing the legitimate roll of “agitator”. If it’s a league tournament online for example there is etiquette that is actually enforced the same as in playing hockey in real life. You shake hands after the game and you don’t celebrate during a blowout out of respect. In life and in games it’s still never executed perfectly at all times and that’s when it’s on us to not allow something or someone to have an impact on how we feel. We may have an initial reaction to something but ultimately we get to decide how the rest plays out and even condition ourselves for similar situations in the future.

I’m not saying to do this but if someone is tbagging or clicking or whatever 2 minutes into a game and you’re just not feeling like entertaining that type of match then it’s very easy to face a corner and watch YouTube or something while they sit on gens the rest of the match. People can say that’s letting them win or giving up but I promise you that the last thing agitators in DBD want is to sit on gens with an afk killer... we’ve all had afk killer games and leaving through the gate means nothing when you were bored out of your mind.

Ps. People can play however they want but I’ve been a part of Dead by Daylight for years and showing mutual respect to both sides is something I gladly partake in and encourage.

I've used Mad Grit for similar Trapper basement builds. Its been working as intended for me.

    Two things I notice though:

-It does pause the wiggle timer for 4 secs, but it takes about 2 .5 secs to recover from a successful hit.

-You can override their wiggle noise and grunts of pain if you swing rapid fire with Mad Grit. It may seem like they stopped wiggling, but they likely didn't.

In your scenario, perhaps someone had Break Out?

You’re definitely right about cooldown time after a successful hit and the survivor looking and sound as if they aren’t struggling when we swing.

The pause after landing a hit isn’t a huge deal for me because when I use the combo legitimately (not spamming at all) it’s a nice little added insurance if someone takes a hit or happen to whiff and not having MG would mean you absolutely won’t make it to a hook.

Mainly it’s those moments when I’m messing around by attempting to play a loop with either a backpack or an active struggler... If I catch them in the open unaware of the fact I have the full combo it’s goofy and satisfying to machine gun it a bit while you’re starting get all up on their butt lol. I can definitely slow the interval between swings but still there are times where a hit will even land but the weapon wasn’t moving.

ScottJund had a pretty good example of what I mean when I was playing a Myers.. the infamous “Scott actually got spun my a Quentin” stream lol

Bonus: one of the most bizarre sights to see is a Pyramid Head running MG with that massive knife going wild hahaa

I just finished a game with a doc.

My mates and i were doing good all were alive and the doors were opened when the killer (doc) decided to go for the fix kill and facecamp. We ran to him tried to unhook without getting grabbed until the doc started spamming his power and NO ONE WAS ABLE TO UNHOOK. It always interupted us when we were about 80%. Then after the cooldown where you can't do anything after being shooled i went straight for the unhook but it was just impossible to save him and he died on the hook.

SO WHY CAN DOC SPAM HIS ABILITY LIKE THAT AND MAKE IT LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO UNHOOK?

I know some are gonna say: "UHHHH Just bring calm spirit EVERY GAME in case there is a facecamping doctor" but that's what they always say with every killer and unfortunately i don't have 20 Perk slots to counter every killer

If it makes you feel any better I had a match not too long ago against an impossible skill check doc that purposely sent us to the game map and we survived. I contacted the medical board in an attempt to have his license revoked for his unethical practice but they said there were no records of a physician named Herman Carter. Currently a full investigation has been launched regarding this incident.

  • @Raccoon said:

2 times here since the rework.

One of those was due to the unhook bug.

I legitimately forgot which survivors I had hooked most recently and I followed scratch marks leading to someone currently hooked and caught one of them about to unhook but they changed their mind to book it somewhere else leaving their mate hanging there to die when they definitely had enough distance to successfully save... I thought it was a little odd but figured maybe they didn’t have BT or someone else was close by so I chased them and downed them..

Long story short there wasn’t another survivor close by for the save and they simply let them die just so they could feed me a nice big slice of Decisive Strike pie... they both wound up dying in case you were wondering lol.

With my beloved Legion well, pretty much the same as Doc but I STAB STAB STAB.

I never get tired of it <3.

Yeppers. A few month ago I was in a Legion phase trying out a whole mix like Deathbound, surge, devour/undying before the change so I had to gain tokens back lol. Doc is a killer I always eventually go back to. More recently Wraith has been my go to feel good homie. For a basic bro his stealth and speed always feels nice and there are so many combinations of addons and perks that he can get some fun/interesting use from.

  • I always feel like I’m possibly one of the only people that enjoyed original Freddy... I at least loved the dream pull mechanic. I’ve found him quite boring since his rework and strong or not I have zero reason to play him except for maybe a dream demon daily which is essentially just smack 4 people as Freddy..

  • Quick comparison:

Deathslinger - small TR for better ambush potential

Anna - Large lullaby that can never be hidden with the use of perks. The lullaby is non-directional and gets louder the closer she is but it definitely can work in her favour

Stealthslinger - able to reload on the fly

Anna - currently looking for whoever replaced her lockers with Chanel No5 and neon cuticle trimmers

Slinger - Max range is limited to 18m

Anna - Throwing dots like Tom Brady and Hail Marys like Roger Staubach

Slinger can reel a healthy person back from an unhook that could result in death, reel around a pallet etc for a hit which can take away extra distance you would have gained while with the Huntress she hits you where you stand

Slinger gives no hint that he’s a about to shoot

Anna - has to wind up and audible cues can be heard even when canceling

    Okay that’s long enough...

Ps. Rip Trickster when Anna get her hands on him...

  • Recently a solid Nurse had 5 stacks of devour and someone DC’d. They got 2 other mori’s but I stumbled across the hatch and decided to make some noise so she would come over. I pointed to where the hatch was, waved and nodded so she could decide my fate. She looked at the hatch then back at me aware of the sacrifice. I like to think I'm a decent killer who does good tutorial videos for most killers but this guy is just so bad. Huntress is better in every way and the amount of people who just teabag me while standing near me because of my speed with no real threat is so annoying. I feel like a punching bag and its for the survivors' enjoyment. I have NEVER felt so weak as any killer before until now. I have been ANNOYED as certain killers but never really weak but this guy just makes you want to ram your face into a wall. I'm about to hit Rank 5. It's beyond bullshit.

My friend and I were testing some things out and I was able to bonk her across an entire coldwind map.. Since the start I’ve thought the distance the knives can actually travel has unused potential. I would love to see maybe 2-3 knives cause full laceration if thrown at a 24m or more.

This might sound silly but I would like to see “Main Event” scrap the knives.. instead remove Tricksters red light and TR, increase movement speed and for a brief moment have all sounds on the map mute except for the sudden synchronized screams of any remaining survivors.

  • I don’t mind the Twins at all. I wouldn’t mind seeing faster transitions between POV for more interesting tag team plays at loops/long walls etc

A little counter/strategy is a buddy system.. groups of two and stick together so one has a chance to fend off Vikki after a pounce. The opposite is the plague where spreading out is best.

If Vic is pre-parked near a hook crouching and crushing is comparable to crouching or flashlight disarming hag traps..

I guess a way to solve Charlotte being dormant close to hooks is to keep the current distant allowed to begin controlling Victor after a hook the same but make Vikki have to manual return to Charlotte or something like a 5/10 second grace period after the unhook to control Charlotte again as usual.

On both killer and survivor. And no, they were 2,so no hatch open, man lmao I have almost 3k hrs. I mean in like 10 games 7 are with key and 4 of 7 with key found by luck as I said in my first post up, you can read it btw, "no perks or offerings for luck or for chests". Happend to me and my random teamates as well, key drop is insane. In like 10chests I find 1-3key with no luck offerings or perks. I found hatch key in like 4/10 games with nothing. Again man no offerings or perks, ok? I really hate a key as both killer and survivor.

Could be good old fashioned rng or possibly chest item rarity was boosted. One game I found a purple torch then the game after that a purple medkit today which is oddly lucky.. There is a rift challenge “heroic virtue” to have 9 people escape while you remain in the trial before leaving so maybe key rates increased.. seems unlikely but maybe. Do you remember that old self care bug that made it so all your actions were slowed down? Even vaulting was like super slow motion action movie style lol so yea if I keep finding purples consistently I’ll start thinking something funky is going on.

  • @Florin said:

What happend? Every game they have a key or they find a key without any luck offerings or perks.

Were you the killer? Did they escape through the hatch with a key or was it already opened for the last standing survivor? Did they have either plunderers or appraisal? How many games is “every game”.. like did more than one survivor escape with a key 20+ games in a row?

I’ve looted maybe 2-3 keys in the past few weeks but the best one was against a Demo who started end game collapse by closing the hatch.. I made my way to the basement and was lucky enough to loot a purple key, got to the closed hatch and escaped.. it happens.

  • @NVerde said:

It's on literally every killer lately. Seems to be a little unfair as it makes sense to be working on a generator a distance away when someone is downed and hooked but then they go right for you - any advice for a fairly newbie survivor to counter this?

A long time ago I just assumed every killer had bbq and these days I probably see it 90 times in 100 matches give it take. It’s a bummer that there isn’t much perk variety in the long-standing/current meta but in regards to bloodpoints bbq is unrivalled.

    • Obviously lockers were mentioned as counter play.. get it before they hook and count to 4.
    • You can also get in a locker during the 4 seconds to intentionally show your aura to make the killer think you messed up and then just leave
    • Some people like to move one way and then switch to the opposite direction while their aura is showing but that’s such a common strategy that I like standing still sometimes (or continue on a gen to see if the killer even comes my way)

    TL;DR

Bbq is a decently designed perk with counter play and even though it’s boring to see nearly every match or boring that I, myself use it nearly every game when I’m killer... if I’m going to suffer I might as well aim for double bloodpoints lol;p

I actually believe that if killer bloodpoints were doubled by default and Bbq ONLY showed auras then it would be used significantly less.. like bitter murmur for example which is technically a far more consistent aura reading perk in my opinion.

  • @SilentPill said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2072814#Comment_2072814

Yeah I’d say Bubba is probably the strongest crowd control user since he gets instant downs or pallets from it instead of basic attacks.

The super strong killers ignore looping so you don’t need it on them but Bubba is probably the strongest traditional killer who can be looped. Maybe you could argue curve Billy but idk he’s kinda dead to me since his nerf.

It does feel great watching LT walls, jungle gyms, and the shack get shut down automatically.

Definitely.. my cc totem lasted the entire game on Cowshed and it worked out quite nicely.

Oh and conspiracy theory time... I legitimately think Billy was put down in an attempt to increase both purchases and play time on licensed killers like Bubba.

  • I definitely don’t want old Wraith back because the base cloak speed buff is fantastic. The post cloak being nerfed absolutely wasn’t needed so hopefully that changes sometime in the future. The worst thing that could happen is he’s considered a little too strong and then they just have to give him a little nerf.. I don’t see him ever being considered overpowered with his new cloak speed and old uncloaking combined.

I really enjoy Wraith so I can look past it I guess but man it can really feel like you’re walking through a force field of molasses or something while coming out of cloak sometimes.

  • @SilentPill said:

I used it a few times on Bubba, it was really strong when it stayed up for more than 30 seconds. Still had to bring bamboozle as a backup for when survivors spawned next to it though.

I switched over from testing it on Wraith to try out on bubba. I actually really like the perk while it lasts. you can put survivors in really tough situations especially if you pre-blocked any other nearby vaults with Bamboozle.

So far the funniest use I got out from it was as bubba on Léry’s. The game hadn’t been on long and they didn’t know I had hex: CC so when Quintin vaulted the window closest to where basement spawns in the doctors office area... well he was stuck between a vault he unwittingly blocked himself and big ol’ Bubba coming through the only door available to get out lol.

I think chewed pen should be base. His power takes way too long to recover without addons

Yea I think everyone can agree that his recovery time for night shroud has to be quicker.

  • I’ve been playing for something like 3-4 years (at least 3 full years) consistently and it’s definitely still pretty tedious.. My Claudette was at level 40 for years because when I first started I just wanted self care... You end up pumping bp into characters you like for items but then I’m in the mood to play Tapp or Nancy but they end up with only two pages of perks and I say screw it I really want this perk or that perk on Pyramid Head and bag addons for trapper... then all these great characters wind up neglected gathering cyber dust... oh wait Felix has a cool skin I want to play him but crap I barely have any perks on the Twins still...

Obviously I have tons of fully maxed characters and p3’s so it’s definitely not so bad but the main issue is each new character becomes a Mount Everest type of grind to get perks on which is significantly harder for newer players.

Not to put words in anyone’s mouth but Ohtofu has mentioned a nice idea in the past about increasing bp cap for each devotion level. Something like 100k increase to the cap for every level of devotion. I truly don’t see any harm in having an extra million bp capabilities for every 10 devotion levels for example.

I really want to start maining Oni.

Im on console, what’s the recommended sensitivity to run his power? And what are the best perks for him ?

currently I have infectious, tinker, pop and surge.

    thanks

I highly recommend you check out ScottJund. As for console sensitivity it’s personal preference but I would stick between 90 and 100. Anything below 90 makes you more prone to whiffing if a survivor gets all up in your personal space by trying to spin or move behind your back. 90-100 you shouldn’t have any real issues swinging all the way around to still land hits if needed. Also killers like Billy, Blight etc have a cap to the turn rate so even if you could set your sensitivity over 100 then turning while using the power won’t be any different... well unless you’re a PC blight abusing the mechanics with macros and absurdly high dpi but I digress.

  • They both buffed and nerfed Wraith at the same time. The uncloaking/lunge can be alright but it’s nothing like it used to be. I’m really hoping they bring it back because nerfing that aspect of him absolutely wasn’t necessary. The base cloak speed buff is really nice so it’s a shame a little nerf came alongside it.

  • I played completely normal, helped save my teammates, gens when I could, and managed to survive some really long chases. I don’t bm because it’s not my style and I didn’t do anything remotely close to bming. I managed to pull off a successful sabo play and did enough to help the other 3 escape. They thanked me for being a good teammate and asked the person playing killer why they had it out for me so hard and they just responded by saying I was “really cocky”.

It was all just standard looping during the chases and all that so I have no clue how my in game character looked cocky lol. I was playing Kate that match so maybe Kate has some cocky vibes that I’ve never noticed.

  • Activating Mettle of Man with the proposed version of Object of Obsession will literally let you see the killer anywhere outside of 12/14/16m.

  • Y’all remember “Wake Up!”?.. short answer is no you won’t be banned for using a perk.

On that note.. Spirit Fury literally makes it impossible to move forward after being stunned. You’re forced to back up in order to escape the buggy loop you’re in while trying to press forward.

Don’t use spirit fury and enduring right now, trust me.

  • Honestly... by the time I’ve healed a teammate and found my way to exit gates I didn’t even realize the killer had No Way Out until after the match..

  • @ShamelessPigMain said:

I'm pretty bad at survivor, I only play as them occasionally. Usually what happens is that one or two people are on death hook by three gens, nobody's making generator progress, and most of us are injured. At that point, is it worth healing, or should we just push generators?

Small tips I would give to all survivors is to be mindful of others hook states and to capitalize on situations that can increase the pressure you place upon the killer

    examples:

    • if everyone other than you has been hooked once then you should be the one going for the unhook (unless someone is healthy and you are unable to heal or safely unhook)
    • If you haven’t been hooked then depending on the situation it can be beneficial to take a hit for your teammate to hopefully give them a chance to escape and reset/heal, while in a best case scenario you manage to take aggro from the killer (even if you end up going down you’ve successfully prolonged/prevented someone else from reaching death hook) - Managing to take the killers attention off someone on death hook by risking one of your own hook states to keep a teammate alive can be huge
    • If you see a survivor get chased off of a gen then don’t be afraid to stick by because they might leave the area. Take advantage of this situation to finish off the rest of that survivors progress if possible (this is invaluable if completing that gen means breaking up the possibility of giving the killer a 3 gen they can easily defend
    • Spread out and pick which gens you work on strategically. If a survivor is on a gen near the outer perimeter then see if you can apply some pressure to the gens in the middle of the map (complete a gen, skip the next one you see and start working on the next one after that to avoid finishing all the gens in one area of the map
    • Don’t be afraid to be injured sometimes because there are times where it is reasonably safe to complete a generator, unhook, pick up a slug, open the exit gate and so on where the opportunity may be lost if taking the time to heal first wasn’t the right call - you can even finish the rest of a gen with your buddy hanging beside you on the hook before you rescue if the killer went across the map and has little reason to think the objective is being completed.

These were just a few very small tidbits and I’m not an expert by any means so take what I say with a grain on sand. Make your judgment calls based on in-game events and have some fun out there:)

  • Lag, latency, desync (this is likely 100% the reason why) aside you can try hugging some loops extra tight. If the killer is on your butt and you cut in the pallet literally as tight as you can then there’s a chance they will get aim dressing cucked at the edge of the pallet where you can stun them or you may not even have to drop it if they went a little wide (killers have slightly wider hit boxes on their models) they might end up whiffing by a hair if you maintained just enough distance by wallpaper running.

  • Try to get a little closer to the terror radius and then shift your camera towards the killer to proc premonition to increase the odds of it registering. It’s a 45 degree cone and a 36m activation range so if LOS is poor then the killer might not actually be in the direction you’re pointing especially if they were already in the edge of those numbers. It took me two games to get it to work properly and the game it registered I made sure I could actually see the killer. The first game I tried like 10 points but was usually blocked by the temple on yamaoka or bamboo etc.

Also make sure you let the point fully complete from start to finish because if you cancel it prematurely even a bit with shift W and what have you then the point might not count.

I’ve reached the end of my road. I’ve been in a mental rut for the past few years and I’m just at a stage where I’m exhausted in every sense of the word. So it’s time I bow out and finally find peace.

I hope you all continue to enjoy the game and whatever adventures you go on in your personal lives. It’s been fun whilst it lasted, so thanks for providing me with some much needed distraction.

    Much love,

    Lucas 💜

If you need someone to talk to let me know. There are also plenty of people within reach willing to lend a heart and a hand.

  • I mean I once mentioned an idea to be able to move hexes around and then undying came out lol. Obviously it wasn’t my idea and just like-minded people going forward with something extremely similar. The devs listen but it’s not reasonable to expect them to hear everything and go with it. You can try and tell an architect to build something with an open concept though in the end they may comprise by knocking a few walls down but their design requires a couple load bearing walls in order to maintain their vision and the structures overall integrity.

Oh yeah some totem spawn points are super strong.. I make sure to check where they ended up being near the end of the match when it lasts that long, to remember looking there when I'm survivor and can't find a totem on that map haha

Not all perks (or killers, for that matter) are good on every map though.. it's like saying Scratched Mirror is bad only because you got sent to Shelter Woods instead of an indoors map.

But yeah it's so fun when a Hex lasts long enough to make a difference. I love my Third Seal on Pig, and when it gets people into struggle on first hook, or even dead, because the others weren't paying attention and don't know where they were hooked, it makes me happy.

I thought I was the only one that loved the third seal hahaha. It’s sooooo good when it lasts. I had a gawd spawn on haddonfield once that I’ll never forget because it seemed so obvious but it was tucked away just enough by a lone bush near the sidewalk and I had never actually seen a spawn there so they probably hadn’t either lol.
