  • As a Killer, I also LOVE these times. Really feels like a 1vs1 will they escape? kinda show down. I appreciate good mind games. Good loops are cool too but not if they drag, just gets boring.

  • You can't have your cake and eat it too.

    Ba dum psh

    Okay, I'll just leave now.

  • My birthday. Chocolate cakey, presents, mix tapes/play lists, scary movies and a long night drive down to the beach with windows down and music blasting. :3

The legios skins are based on FNAF so i don't think so they come

Dude, WHAT? Robbie the Rabbit is the mascot of the Silent Hill series. LOL

  • Legion is pretty sweet and one of my best. Nice choice! Good hunting!

Always like to hear people are liking the game.

Hey, Almo, I haven't seen a quote from you on the loading screens yet. Did you get to say anything? :3

I'm looking for some words of encouragement DBD friends. My experience with the event today has left me feeling absolutely deflated when it comes to this game. I'm a red rank survivor just trying to get the crowns like everybody else. I'm burning all my bloody party streamers since the cake offering is still bugged, just trying to have a good time. I have yet to acquire a single crown, and my games have been nothing short of abysmal all day long. It's been nothing but tunneling for 3 straight hooks, camping nonstop until you die, etc. Clowns have been walking circles around hooks, throwing gas down the entire time. Why have the killers been so unwilling to just have a good time today? Has anybody else had an experience similar to mine today? This is all on top of the anniversary event that I would call lackluster at best. Overall I'm feeling pretty down about DBD at the moment, and almost don't even want to play anymore. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Don't lose hope, friend! Perhaps you could find a way to contact other players to aid you? Sorry you've been facing so much toxicity from petty Killers.

  • I also wonder... Maybe a perk loses its quote(or echos of that person to be dramatic) once they go hollow and get sent to The Void. Maybe the fact each of those characters still has a single quote attached to perks means they're out there, deeper in the realm, and on the edge of losing all hope and perhaps they can still be saved? I wonder if Baker or Vigo knows them?

  • Just had another happy game, plenty of hooks for Cake Slice, where everyone(except the Cheryl) left sparkly. :3

  • Those are just toppings. They explode with juice when you bite into them.

Where are you drawing this conclusion from about FNAF's fan base?

Also, more broadly to the original question: People don't consider it "real" horror for whatever reason. Heck, people came out to criticize Silent Hill too, just because it wasn't drawn from a movie. I think this is unfair and gatekeep-y. Horror can take many forms. And, as far as the tone, I'll remind you all that we also have a man who dresses up in an elephant suit, a girl with a bunny costume, and those goofy Legion cosmetics introduced last patch. The tone of the game can wind up being pretty silly already.

Hey, what about Ash? Or what if Tucker and Dale were added as survivors? Or what if there were a Toxic Avenger chapter one day, or a Hatchet chapter, or a Child's Play chapter or something? Those are all pretty ridiculous, but they're still horror.

And after a long thought to myself; I am absolutely inclined to agree. Just because it's not Horror I grew up with or have a taste for doesn't mean it isn't the first intro or special addition to someone else for the genre. Yeah, not gonna end up being a gatekeeping geezer. Why not add fnaf? Besides, with skins really picking up in the shop it's a no-brainer: New Killer is The Animatronic/Automaton and literally every skin for it is a different character. Would absolutely fit in with the whole Legacy skin thing they're doing now too. ######### yeah, I'm all for it.

  • My Cake Slice(Pyramid Head) just let 2(maybe 3?) Runners escape with sparklies. Always happy to spread cheer on holidays and events! :3

Daaang, was just playing another game, letting everyone out, all that.

But I did want my points, of course, so I went about hooking everyone once. Except their team just let one of them die on their one and only hook. How they gonna do their teammate like that? :(

I think the same thing to myself when I'm actively trying NOT to kill anybody! I'm like, damn... these "teammates" are shady as #########, taking saves but not returning the love?

    @hahadrillgobrrr said:

I'm not going to let them get crowns anymore. I've had enough of trash talk from survivors for letting them escape. Played M1 Billy without addons or perks and not putting anyone on death hook and still get greeted with ez and baby killer and all that normal BS.

You did good, friend and sometimes, those who don't know any better can't return the good will but, I always tell myself, in those times; I LET you escape, fool. Always another day and another trial, am I right? Sorry for the toxicity but, if I can convince you at all; we got our crowns easy and by our mercy, they can have them too. It's everybody's anniversary after all, yeah? Keep your chin up, player.

At least on switch you actually have a "b" and "a" to press for the code!

    Ba dum tss

LMFAO Okay, that was a good one.

  • Fellow Switch gamer! Yeah, the lag is a bummer for us(I deal with dying teleport, awkward grabs and registers for gen damaging prompts all the time) TBH, I LOVE my system but I do have to say this one falls on the hardware. My Switxh overheats like an SOB and sometimes fps drops to a clicky slide show. Eh, I dela with it. Overall, I'm impressed with the port as well but I realize that a handheld trying to be a full console is gonna have these issues.

Does getting the golden crown with a killer only unlock the cosmetic for a killer? Because I'm thinking about just doing it on killer. I'm not sure why killers just have to grab it and then ladie dah, But I am both relatively new, not completely anymore I've got some play time under my belt finally but relatively new to the game and I usually play killer.

Four games in a row now, four games in a row, I have found the golden crown after not looking for it but doing my part to contribute; generators, rescues etc and as soon as I find the crown, And I have that little golden sparkle, I seem to get hooked which that part is my fault of course not implying otherwise, but I get hooked and then the killer just stands there face to face with me. Can't get rescued and if I do they tunnel me immediately. I even switched to Lori strode for decisive strike hit my decisive strike and he's still ran right past two other survivors to down me again and hook and kill me. And yes I am salty I am fully acknowledging that this is a salty chunk of complaining and I'm sorry for that part. But it's like getting really frustrating and taking a lot of the fun out of it when I feel like I don't dare touch the crown or it's just GG.

Hence my original question of do I have to unlock it on both or should I just go get it on the killer? Because this is pretty silly and frustrating.

Friend, that is not salt at all, that Killer was a tunneling douche bag and I'm sorry for that experience. I hope you'll acquire the crown and make it out soon.

  • Right? I want that pew pew ship for my Legion! Waaaah!

  • That's some deep #########. I remember having a similar experience about perseverance, effort and acceptance when I REALLY finally understood Dark Souls. A lot of people underestimate the engaging, immersive and active participation aspects of gaming and how those experiences can translate into very real things for others. Good on you, friend. ✌🖖🤘(Peace, Propserity and Music of your choice)

My impression is that it only deletes the memory of dying, but they retain some memories of the rest of the trials, perhaps the more mechanical stuff, like totems or doing gens, but they don’t know that they did, so the Entity can savor their emotions. However, they still lose a bit of “hope” after each death, so even if they don’t remember, they start losing their emotions little by little, until they go into the Void.

Another explanation is that, in a previous tome, the Observer talked about how they were rare survivors that retained the memories after dying, and in some cases, went mad because of it:

Several Survivors went mad trying to escape the trial. They had with them memories of previous incarnations so that one Survivor began dashing his head against a wall convinced he was reliving a nightmare he had just escaped. The other Survivors drowned him in mud to shut him up. It seems to me Survivors are torches growing dimmer and dimmer with every trial. Some stop to feel altogether and are doomed to The Void. Others go raving mad and need to be silenced by others.

This could explain why Benedict retained his memories after death, as he was one of those “lucky ones” and thus could understand how the trial worked. In my opinion, I am not 100% convinced with the inclusion of the “memory delete” thing, because it takes a way a little of the horror of knowing that death is not an escape, but it made sense that the Entity would want them to think that every death is final.

Holy #########, that entry... I have barely unlocked any tome entries so I haven't read much(even though I'm SUPER into the lore) that is some dark #########. I'm also inclined to believe your theory on the phenomenon of death, resurrection and memories. I've felt that way about it since I first had a general idea of the premise of the game.

  • Haha, that programmer one is nice! I thought "I was here" was cute in an existential kinda way(in melancholy irony I forgot who said it)

And(Joelle, I think?) Making that double entendre about lockers was nice. ;3

  • Much thanks, friend in the fog! Happy anniversary to all! I hope we can continue to grow and develop as a community! Stay Spooky!

It was supposed to be a light hearted joke to ease up the from the tension in the crown threads😀.

Oh, then definitely my bad. Yeah, it's a really interesting time in DbD right now, with everything going on. My personal stance(not gonna argue/debate/discuss/etc) on it all is:

LGBT+ stuff should be available to those who want it and if they devs feel like doing it.

The tome challenges are actively promoting some toxic plays and should be less intense because I think some people are getting anxiety from these.

The anniversary crown acquisition is extremely one sided and I am among those who have pledged not to kill during the event so Survies have a chance for the crown.

Have also pledged not to harass Lisa players just for using a skin that they were happy to have and want to enjoy when the proper course should be to contact devs directly.

Also, the devs are getting crazy amounts of hate during what should be a happy time, 4 years is a nice milestone. I hope they continue to love what they do and are able to address coding issues in a prioritized manner that doesn't give them unnecessary stress.

    Also, ######### ranking. LMFAO

Eh, I already got told, "Get #########" in the very first game tonight where I let everyone go.

Not really feeling the love from em yet.

Yeesh, that is unfortunate. Sorry for the bad vibes, fellow Killer. You're being the cool one though so, keep your head up.

  • I'm sorry, honestly but, as a Killer who gets rushed with clicky, gets chases interrupted by survivors taking protection hits, is constantly led to loops with pallets and T bagged in 99% of matches the one thing I know for certain in every match is that the Survies are NOT afraid of me. The only situation I never face and therefore cannot empathize with my fellow Killers on is Head On. I've seen it maybe ten times in all my time playing. But, yeah... there is no power dynamic to switch up... because Survies are not scared of Killers.

Edit: Just to clarify, I enjoy/ agree with a good bit of your posts, we frequent the same threads often and I don't mean disrespect, wasn't laughing at you just the idea of Survies being afraid of Killers. Anyway, happy anniversary!

  • Killer main here sporting my Robbie the Rabbit skin to celebrate and wish everyone a happy anniversary! Everyone escapes and(when possible), gets tasty cakey!

  • LMFAO

  • Glad to hear you're feeling better! Good luck in matches!

  • Yep. Killer who despises whiny entitled Survies but I am objectively fair and the requirements for the two sides are grossly imbalanced. I am therefore NOT killing anyone during this event. Ranking can [Gently Caress] itself.

  • I too agree and have vowed to not kill during this event.

  • @JustCats said:

This is the only game I think I've ever played where it's even a question as to whether or not one team needs to compensate and go easy on a team that makes a mistake or is in a weak position, because otherwise it's "not fun for them."

Let me ask you this - do survivors who come across a gen you've kicked say "oh, well, I'm going to let this one regress so the killer can have more fun" or refuse to do bones because "it can't be fun for the killer to play without perks?" The best a group of survivors ever does for a killer is decide not to teabag or otherwise grief the killer.

I am assuming you're not playing killer as some kind of charity work for four random strangers on the internet. This game isn't about their fun. Your objective is to kill as many of them as you can, so do that. If "tunneling" or camping gets you there the fastest, then don't feel bad about it. The cries of the injured aren't a warning to you to stay away from them; they're supposed to be vulnerable and in danger.

It's the responsibility of their teammates to keep them out of danger, not yours.

Can you imagine what multiplayer gaming would even look like if this soft, entitled and whiny atmosphere existed back when pvp was developing? 007 on N64? The early days of CoD? They wouldn't have lasted 5 seconds in the Halo wars on the original Xbox! LMFAO

ahh, so what should i do? Give advices insted of saying bad player please.

And that right there is the perfect t example. They'll just call you bad and give no advice. Your development into a skilled player should not be impeded by their inadequacies. As long as you aren't purposely following one single player, passing others just to get to them, you're not tunneling. Ignore anyone trying to shame you because of someone else who can't even hide in a bush or go around a corner properly.

  • @xxDeathwishDW said:

    So here it is:

I hooked a survivor and then start to patrol generators.

Then they unhooked, and I went for it. When I was there, they were healing themselves. I wanted to hit the other guy, but the hooked man was too close, so I hit him.

After again unhook, I went to other guy cause I knew I was tunneling, which is not good. I usually do this, BUT when I don't tunnel A survivor, (just one, not all) I can't win! They 4 escaped, but this were his last chances. All hooked 2 times.

But also, when I tunnel a survivor, they say "very bad killer, tunneler". But is it wrong or I am bad, when they unhook they are just healing themselves there, isn't it wrong? Or is it true?

So, how can I win without tunneling a survivor? I'm new on killer, so pls some advices to make me better.

Don't get stressed about it, friend. A player who just sits under the hook and heals instead of hiding is a bad player and they are only projecting their failure onto you if they say anything afterwards. Your mission is to find, tag, catch and hook them. If they are just letting you find them then they need to get better at the game. You're doing fine, friend.

Length shouldnt matter crows spawn in seconds of a survivor or killer being in the area

True but right now it seems most of the community isnt certain if it's a timed or random thing? I found 3 in a single match, for example.

I always try to find teammates if I have a key. There was one time one went into a locker. I stood in front motioning to come with me and she wouldn't come out so I just left. Another time I couldn't find the teammate, after myself and another random left I went to spectate and saw she had just been hiding in the basement. I've done 4 gens, rescued teammates and am being carried to my first hook - I can see their auras running and disappearing through a hatch, not even going to make an attempt to help me out. Solo can be pretty rough.

Damn... that ######### right there is why I go Killer 99.9% of the time. If I have a plan/strategy in mind there's no one to ######### it up, if it doesn't work out and I lose then no one to blame but myself, IF it is someone else's fault then it(usually) means they had a better play but the bottom line is that I will never be dicked over by someone who should have helped me. Hell, sometimes I'm even helped by traitors on the survie team. Granted, I slash and hang them first, because ######### traitors but, still excellent example of why I go it alone. Sorry to hear that by the way, can't imagine the frustration.

  • Just got done with a match as Pig, slaughtered a whole clicky click/ gen rush team and farmed 4 iri off them LMFAO I'd say the boxes work just fine. That was on Switch though, maybe the trolls on PC don't suck?
