  • You realize that you are very hard to understand right? People are being dismissive because you aren't making any sense.

  • You are being tunneled because you are the easiest to find.

  • Ok, then have fun with LF at rank one.

The big problem is that other than using nurse, spirit, and maybe huntress and billy, a killer vs survivors of equal high skill will almost always end up with the killer suffering.

The killer is limited by its first person view while survivors have third person, giving them a big advantage when it comes to mindgames if they pay attention.

Unless the survivors mess up, the killers can only catch up to them at a fixed rate, meaning that you simply cant end the chase fast.

The killer is mostly dependant on the survivor messing up.

  • So... you are just pointing out how broken swf is.

The thing that you forget is that what you say is already happening, but only for people that use swf and discord.

If the devs add voice comms to the game, they will be able to balance killers and mechanics accordingly.

Right now its the opposite, the game is balanced around no VC, but people still use a third party program to gain an advantage that the game isnt balanced around.

  • Survivor logic: we want the game to be balanced around solo play, but we want the ability to have group play.

Thats also the devs view on it for some reason.

I keep seeing " If you didn't get the 5 gens finished and gates opened, you don't deserve your escape" but how come if a killer doesn't get a 4k they still earn the kill automatically? Killers move faster than survivors and don't need to avoid anyone while looking for the hatch... Still seems very unfair

Because no one wants 20 minutes games...

The alternative was the old system, where the survivor would crouch around slowly looking for the hatch while the killer had no clue where they were without whispers.

If you want that i suggest putting a needle in a haystack and going at it.

  • I am the genie of DbD, your wish is now granted.

But to balance the game, killers now get unlimited addons. Enjoy 1 shot hatchets!

No, I've made my point, and I'm not interested in derailing this thread any further. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that "anything else" was simply a polite invitation to continue the discussion, even though I suspect that's not the case.

Someone posted something with gen speed math, i dont remember where though.

The gist of it was that even with just 3 people doing gens, assuming the killer is always chasing someone, it takes something like 3-4 mins to complete all gens and escape.

The only reason a game should last longer than 5 mins is if the killer is a good nurse, or if the survivors play badly.

The flow is 100% set by survivors, the killer has very little power to do anything to change it, especially is survivors are good and are in discord.

from what i gathered, if i had gotten a video recording of the Claudette blatantly disregarding me while the other survivor was across map being chased, then the person would have some sort of repercussion. im not asking for penalties for not saving survivors in that sense youre taking it the wrong way. im talking in this instance i think the claudette should have been punished/penalized. anyone can disagree its just my opinion.

I mean, they didnt break any rules, the most you could have reported them for was unsportsmanlike behavior, but they probably wont even give them a slap on the wrist.

It doesnt really count as sandbagging (which is against the rules), since they didnt do something the prevented you from playing normally, they just DIDN'T do something that would have actually benefitted you both.

Like i said, they were just being a huge dick, but if the devs punished people for that, half of the playerbase would be banned lol.

There's no rule that i'm aware of that say you have to save people, making one would help either. Instead the devs made it so that good behavior is rewarded. They essentially gave up 1.5k points to deny you your surviving points, which like 4k now? Add in the struggle points you got and it wasn't really worth it.

Also, maybe they wanted your item? Some people are douchebags like that

It is a valid complaint considering the 2 left me there for no reason. also the original quote goes "you can't eat your cake and have it too"

I mean, that person was a dick, no doubt about it, but you realise that if they start putting penalties for not helping, then it will 100% be a detriment to survivors.

Also i said the quote right, your way of saying it is just a more easy to understand way of saying it, since the OG quote can be a bit confusing with the wording.

  • I mean, the biggest downside of moris is that they prevent you from running bps or pudding. Thats why killers dont run them as often as they could, add that to the low amount of points you would get anyways due to the lack of chases and hooks, and it was pretty much a waste of time for everyone involved, even the killer.

  • You complaining about that is actually hilarious. The devs balance the game around survivors being selfish and solo, giving a ton of tools and perks to survive, all while people complain that the game isnt specifically tailored to team play.

Its like people dont realize that if they were to balance the game around team play, killers would be greatly buffed, making any solo survivors get rekt and making them complain that killers are op.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

  • Unless you can find a survivor within half of the self care time, you were better off self caring. So its not that innefiscient to use SC. Unless you know that someone else will heal you, like being in a swf group or running bond, you are better off going somewhere that breaks LoS and SCing.

  • Try playing as freddy and see if it has any progress. It might still count as hitting survivors that are asleep. Or not, who knows with the spaghetti code.

If hacking wasn't allowed, there wouldn't be hackers in the game. But there are, so figure it out.

    Wut?

Thats like saying if murder wasnt allowed, there wouldnt be any murders.

Hacking isnt allowed, the problem is detecting and finding the hackers. Until they release the dedicated servers, its almost impossible to detect and punish a hacker without undeniable video proof.

With their own servers, it should be easier to see the discrepancies created by hacks like speed hacks and whatnot. Even then its really hard to detect purely client sided hacks.

  • @Steve0333 said:

Camping and tunneling won't get you ranked up and you get a lot less BP for doing so. That is the penalty. The only time camping won't punish the killer is if there are survivors near the hook. In that case they aren't considered camping.

Oh sweet summer child, its always camping when the killer exists.

It often looks like this: (Not a fan of Stranger Things either)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/870/VKK4Y4V99I13.jpeg

It goes hostile mode everytime it's caught by an eye, rapidly proceeding to kill it's victim and which relies more on instinct than intelligence. It can detect blood and is from an underworld where it eats it's prey. It can teleport from it's dimension to ours. It's just a killing machine for food.

So it will be looped by survivors until all gens are done and its power will be nerfed into uselessness, got it. :P

  • I mean describe how they bm. Since everyone and their mum has a different interpretation of what bm is.

  • The problem is that the devs said that they nerfed endurance when it came to other stuns, but buffed it when it came to pallet stuns.

    Now its just nerfed period.

  • Running around as cloaked wraith sounds like Jumanji.

  • In most situations camping is a net loss for the killer, they get 1 kill but have 3 escape.

If he's lucky he can get a 2nd kill, but unless the survivors throw the game, they will never get 3 kills.

I suggest adding bonus distraction points when being camped, they would be added post match, and would help compensate the camped survivor with delicious blood points.

Another thing they could do is give the killer a temporary speed boost after hooking like devour gives, encouraging killers to start patrolling since they have a boost.

  • The perk is perfectly balanced as it is right now(as all things should be).

It has a powerful effect, but also a simple way to completely prevent it.

It alone punishes gen rushing, and even if the killer doesn't have it the survivors don't know, so there's a risk reward in rushing the gens without doing totems.

The power to prevent it is entirely in the survivors hands, its currently the only perk preventing gen rushing.

The only thing needed to make things more fair and balanced is a totem counter so survivors know if all the totems are done or not.

  • People KNOW that the expose meter is saved until you get hit right?

That means that if he stalked you before and got good progress, he can finish the meter before you break him out.

The breaking him out of stealth by looking at him mechanic is dumb though, ya, it needs to be affected by distance, so that you can reveal him easily if hes next to you.

  • The big problem with GF is that the devs didn't give him the tools to make his play-style work.

It's virtually impossible to stalk once good survivors are on the lookout for you. Meaning that they can just look around for a dude in a mask and run/hide/look at you before you can get your power off.

The solution to this is to give him the ability to easily position and reposition himself to stealthily stalk.

My proposed solution to this is to have him slowly turn invisible over 5 seconds when outside 32m or 24m of survivors. I mean full invisibility, with a speed boost too similar to wraith.

This part will make it so that GF can position himself well to stalk on people, like a movie killer would, you don't see a movie killer walking around then stalking you, you just look around and... there he is, looking at you. How long has he been there?

Actively stalking someone would remove the invisibility even if outside of the survivor radius, taking 5-10seconds or w/e to activate again once you stop talking.

Also, when you successfully stalk someone, you should get 2 buffs:

The first would give you a good speed boost that diminishes over time to help you close in on your victim. (So that you close in fast, but are back to normal speed once you get closer) The buff wouldn't stack for multiple stalked survivors, but would simply be re-applied if a new survivor is fully stalked.

The second would give a stacking buff for every survivor fully stalked to certain actions or something, like vaulting, stun time, pallet break, etc. This buff would last as long as the survivors are red stalked, once you hit them or the time runs out, their part of the buff disappears. This is to encourage GF to get in a good position to stalk as many survivors as possible instead of just rushing in ASAP.

I would also suggest making being fully stalked apply a 'nervous' status effect on the survivor. This would simply slow down non-chased based actions by a bit, like 25% or something, and make skill checks harder until they aren't exposed, just to slow down the game a tiny bit, AND again, encourage GF to be stealthy and stalky.

I feel like these changes, if properly done, would make GF his own killer instead of a ######### MM. his playstyle would be less about mindgame or brute strength, but more about being smart about how you position yourself to stalk survivors, then rushing in like a madman to get the kill.

  • Its ok to cheat as long as theres no way to detect it.
  • I mean, wraith is kinda like a dollar store slenderman.
  • I mean you can see it in two ways, 1 you can give them points and farm with them if you need bp. 2 if you just want to play, just kill them asap so everyone can move on to another game.
  • Have it be at random parts of the song.

Like 15 20 seconds of nondirectional, then boom, 3 5 seconds of directional.

Still helps avoid her, but it doesnt let you track her.

Imagine hearing a faint heartbeat and the lullaby, then you hear the lullaby behind you...
  • And theres the problem, the overwhelming amount of variables swf adds.

It makes it impossible to balance it right without a huge rework of the whole game.

The answer could be to give the killer advantages when facing swf groups.
  • Swf does give you a few advantages it's true, BUT it doesn't matter when the individual skills of the players are poor. I've played against plenty of swf groups that I dominate with 4k games and I've been beaten by some. I play swf and get destroyed by a good killers but I also play solo matches where killers can't keep up. It really all boils down to individual player skill. If you dont do well in chases or cant hide from killers you wont make it even in swf. I have a good swf group but it means nothing against good killers who know how to not get led on chases and patrol well.
I mean, most swf teams are just playing for fun and will only get a small advantage over solo players, hell, it might actually hinder you if you get distracted talking to your friends.

The problem is that it has the potential to be abused and break the game balance.

Imagine if the devs added a slider that would let you increase your speed as a killer by up to 50%, with no counter for survivors.

I mean not ALL killers would do it and break the game, but some would, and it wouldnt be fair.
  • @powerbats I dont think you understand any of what the thread is about.

The point isnt that swf gets extra perks, its that, with the help of voice communication, they get access to many advantages that solo players dont get, many which resemble in game perks.

This would be a very rough equivalent to having 4 solo survivors having all those perks on top of the 4 they can already bring in.

Not all swf groups will play well, but it does give them the tools to play the game with many more advantages than the devs balance the game around.
  • Because its always fine when survivors use cheap tactics that are lame and boring, but not when killers do it right?

Get looped by a good survivor and see how fun it is to run in a circle while getting nothing done for ever.
  • Truth is, its often just not satisfying.

Even if you play nice and fair and get 8 hooks but no kills( which is considered a win in bhvr, weird book since you pip) it just feels lame, since you KNOW survivors dont care about how many times they got hook if they escape.

So survivors get the satisfaction of escaping, while the killer feels like they lost even though they played well.

Theres also the stigma in using good strategies as killer that isnt there as survivor. You can use every trick in the book if you are a survivor and its all fair game. But if a killer DARES to tunnel or use good perks, they get berated and hated when all they did was play efficiently.
  • I mean with myc this is a good tactic once or twice a match.

Teleport away, charge blink, as soon as you see someone rescuing you teleport and hit the rescuer, then you can track the injured survivor or hook the one you downed.

The counter is to wait until the nurse is further away, then you can unhook amd run before she can come back, or just do gens while the nurse does nothing.
  • If it helps, i was playing against a clearly new killer player, and one survivor started being a dick, the rest of us told him to stop and he appologised, saying he didnt know why he was so salty.

Sometimes people do it to vent off other frustrations from their lives in basic bully behavior.

It doesnt excuse them, but maybe something bad happened in their lives and this is how they vent. Not everyone knows how to deal with pain and stress, some end up hurting others to try to make themselves feel better.
  • That does nothing. He's just being an ass to get you riled up, try to not let it get to you too much.

He's probably pissy about his hero Ochido getting banned, so he's taking it out on others.
  • Wut? Report for what?
  • Have you tried restarting the gave every 2 games? Does it still crash? It sucks but it might be the only option until the problem is fixed.

Maybe he was mad at your lack of self confidence!
  • Do you ever hear a heartbeat? Like at any other point?

    Did you try another speaker/headphone?
  • He does need a rework of sorts. His bottles should have 3 effects minimum.

While in the smoke you get a massive slow.
When you get out you get a medium slow for a few seconds.
You then get a long term 60 sec action speed debuff and makes them cough occationally.

That way hitting people with it is actually harmful to them as opposed to a slight inconvenience
  • @Vietfox said:
Ultra rares are meant to be powerful. Also reaching EW3 takes way more time when using Fragant tuft of hair. If you got a decent group almost all gens should be done before Myers gets his EW3.

Basically this. It takes several minutes of stalking to get, and even when Michael gets it he has a giant Terror Radius. Unless you're all potatos you should have 2 or more gens done by the time he hits Tier 3, and you should be able to avoid his giant [BAD WORD] terror radius after the fact.

His tr isnt big its just 32m like the trapper. He essentially becomes a trapless trapper that can 1 shot.
  • Yes but nothing is ever going to be done about it.
  • Gemasuda said:
Very one sided argument.  So if a person is camped and tunneled off hook, killer ensuring they get no blood points or get to enjoy the game they should give him the courtesy of a third hook.  Good luck with that mentality
By staying on the hook you give your team extra time to extra time to do gens and escape.
As for hook farming, devs should prevent that.
  • Is it so hard to work for your kills?
I advice you to play killer without perks and addons. This will make you much better and when you come back with perk and addons you will be stronger than ever.
Noed is already hated in the community, don't make such a perk baseline lol
Its hated because its random if its there or not.

If its a definite and you can know its going to be there, you KNOW you have to do to stop it.
  • The problem is DS plus good loopers plus broken OP areas.

You take 2-3 minutes to down someone because they have a syringe, only to have to chase again.

By the time you hook the person, survivors are done with gens and the doors are being opened.

Either that or most hooks are 99% saboed and all the 3 others will be able to get to 1/3 of the wiggle and ds out, pretty much garanteeing they escape.

Its just frustrating amd not fun at all for the killer, and theres in gameno counter to it,unlike noed, where you can just do totems.
  • Maybe the devs dont have friend so they dont know how swf works. :(
  • DS wouldnt be toxic if it didnt take such  long time to catch survivors in the first place.

Survivors just arent scared of killers. That are just bulky playthings to the good survivors. And if you arent a top level killer, you just get bullied by them the whole game.

If you get bullied and beaten up at school, then as you lie on the ground bloody and bruised, someone walks by amd chucks a trophy at you, thats not rewarding its just insulting.

I saw someone do the math and 115% is technically 33% faster in game terms vs 110 killers. Playing Spririt then hopping back to Myers is jarring

I don't mean to sound rude but that math seems off.

It's not, you don't MOVE 33% faster, you CATCH UP 33% faster. A chase that would take 60 seconds with a 110 killer takes 115 killers only 40 seconds.

This is why 110 killers are dependent on their powers to shorten that gap.

If you take it relative to 110ms then you catch up 50% faster than the 110 ms killer, not 33%.

How do you possibly get 33%? (taking 15 as 100% and saying going from +10 to +15 is a 33% increase? What would this number even indicate?)

Sorry for poking at you though. Your point still stands; it's significant.

115 to 110 is 33% slower, 110 to 115 is 50% faster (considering only the killer-survivor speed difference, obviously). He probably got confused because math...

Oh right ya, got it backwards.
