  • Flashlight & Pallet stun changes circa January 2018.

  • @TheShape78 said:

So is there still an update tomorrow, just no rift/archive content?

Everything is tied together, so everything is pushed back.

  • We won't hear anything until they get things figured out.

We'll probably have a few days notice.

  • The problem is the core gameplay loop.

While each match is technically different, every match has you running in circles around the same broken structures, through the same safe and unsafe pallets, jumping through the vaults and dealing with the unbalanced perks, items, and offerings from both sides on top of the core of the game being in favor of one side over the other.

Without a good foundation, a game is bound to get stale even if new content is injected in regular intervals.

This is because the core of the game doesn't have a good foundation for the new stuff to thrive as well as it could.

This is just my opinion of course.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

Everyone always posts negatively when things get released with bugs or major problems and now people post negatively when they postpone a release as it's not ready.

Always remember they don't have to do any events or give us the opportunity to get skins for free but they are. We are not entitled to have anything so at least be grateful for the event happening at all.

It just seems the devs can't win. We have all at one point asked them to not release things if they aren't ready and when that happens people complain just as much.

If you're honest with yourself it's not "everyone"

The group of people who don't care about bugs and only care about new shiny things are complaining the most.

The group of people who don't care about the event and only care about bug fixes or the lack of bugs in new content are happy with the delay and voicing those opinions.

  • @Mr_K said:

The things people convince themselves of. Because mid chapter and the rift were in the same PTB doesn't make them part of the same update.

They actually announced that the Archives and the Rift would be coming with each midchapter update during the anniversary event.

Honestly I don't disagree. They made this event pretty unappealing anyway, who cares if it's delayed. It's just another BHVR special lol

Lol it could have been another catastrophic leak that was caught just in the nick of time XD

  • To be fair, a survivor DC screws everyone in the match over.

Survivors who choose to tough it out are at a massive disadvantage and the killer is robbed of what could have been an intense match.

It's bad for everyone except the one who DC's...

  • I'm curious as to the reason as well, but who cares?

I personally wasn't super excited about the event after I found out it was tied to the battlepass progression.

Even if I was, a delay is just a delay... this is where patience comes into play. We'll be able to experience all the good and bad with this patch eventually.

  • @Peanits

can you give us a hint as to why it was postponed?

Was it a technical issue with the patch and/or event or was it to make some adjustments to the archives and rift due to the feedback you received?

  • A game with two opposing sides completing opposing objectives with a ranking system isn't meant to be competitive?

    hmm...

So basically..The hitboxes that the killers have doesn't give them a hand up? When almost more than half people play solo Q yeah that makes perfect sense.

    KILLERS PLEASE LISTEN:

You do not need to have a 4k every single game! IF survivors can't escape or want to think that they can escape EVERY GAME then the killer has no reason to believe that they should.

Its a 4v1..As someone stated the killer can tunnel the first one to death, Can't stop that BT? That's not even helpful anymore killers will still cont. to chase that one person..Oh DS..here lemme slug em chase someone for about 60 seconds and come back..All these things that you have stated is not a "Counter" to being mori'd or to even a "counter" to being killed..yeah I get it, get good and never get caught..well lemme jus sayin no one can say that they are NEVER caught.

As someone who plays solo Q's 95% percent of my games, I'll tell you right now that I don't care if me and 3 other people leaving VIA hatch is "unfun" for them. Because in my 2 1/2 years of playing killers never felt bad about my "unfun" matches where they tunnel me to death and camp my hooks, and allow and yes ALLOW my teammates to farm me off the hook. So no

Keys and Mori's are on a balanced level. I don't care how you look at it, remember THE KILLER HAS THE GAME IN THEIR HANDS..NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

The fact that you think the killer has the game in their hands shows willfully blind ignorance to the current state of the game and makes it very obvious that a discussion with you will go nowhere.

    byee~

  • Random thought.

What if the killer could see the aura of the hatch if a survivor had a key?

  • Just like Nurse, keys are overpowered compared to when they were introduced and today's version of the game with the skill level of the players who use them.

They abruptly end and ruin the game for one side, or both depending on when the key is used. While both have prerequisites to be used, the key will allow all survivors to escape within seconds of the key being used while a mori requires the mori victim to be hooked once. Depending on the skill of all survivors and the killer, it's possible for 0 people to be moried even if all are hooked.

There is one perk that can stop a survivor from using a key. Franklin's Demise.

How many perks and tools do survivors have to avoid getting moried by a killer? Perks to avoid being found by a killer, or getting downed by a killer? How many environmental tools do survivors have to avoid being found or downed by a killer? How many survivors can a killer mori within 10 seconds?

How many survivors can escape through a key opened hatch within 10 seconds?

The two are similar, but the key is more powerful.

In today's gamestate, it's as broken as the Nurse was and should be adjusted accordingly.

Sasori! I enjoy that you enjoy them ;)

  • Don't worry.

The $$ from the battlepass will pay for more cosmetics, more dlc, more tomes, and more fixes to the bugs and problems that no one has really noticed.

They'll put off fixing the really problematic things like the servers and balance until they get more $$$

It looked like one of those infomercials that are set up to look like a talk show.

I'm hesitant about buying the rift. Mainly because I don't really care about the charms. And the cosmetics on the pass don't interest me. I don't see them reducing the time to finish the rift, but we'll see.

    Right?! XD

I'm more interested in seeing how difficult it'll be for me as a Killer main with 0 BP in survivors to do the challenges.

    Casual indeed...

It really is killer dependent, for killers like Hag who don't have to deal with most normal loops because they get hits other ways it's strong. Especially Hag, it has so many forced landing points where you can't possibly dodge the trap.

But M1 killers it's painful. Most pallets block off whole hallways, the entire corner of the map around the basement is just a 10 minute dead zone.

Oh I'm well aware of the problems M1 killers have. I love Clown, Ghost, and Wraith, but when it comes to loops they are really awful and frustrating to play.

  • @xllxENIGMAxllx said:

Maps are at 90% survivors sided you know that by playing against very strong or optimal teams.

A hour ago i've played against the strongest team i've ever played against as killer. It was on Azarov it was abyssmal for me, Clearly i was probably not good enough or the maps was simply too strong. I mean there was three T&L walls next of each others sure that is totally killer sided.

What i do think is that the RNG system they are using is simply BS. It's like freddy maps except that system was changed to be 5 maps instead of 5 random generated maps. Maps design is a problem which devs take way too long to fix.

He remind of a conversation i've got with a few other users, This game is supposed to be a casual game but the design is not. I mean casual game don't have ranking system, F13 didn't have it and he was more fun than DbD. Optimal team is the equivalent of e-sport teams. DbD having tournament is what i'm waiting for the game.

Conclusion : There is too much safe pallet , Jungle Gym , T-L walls next to each others and suffocation pit is the perfect example of it.

You make an interesting point... why have a ranking system if the game isn't meant to be competitive...

Something to think about and ask in a Q&A I suppose lol

  • @anarchy753 said:

I don't know why people think the Game is so killer sided. There are SO MANY insanely safe pallets on that map, the only downside is you have to pay attention to where gens are.

Lery's is also definitely not killer favoured. There are way too many windows and line of sight breaks. It's hard to track down gens but it's insanely easy to keep a long chase going, especially around the library.

    Depending on the killer.

I've never lost a match on the Game as Hag. ie no one has escaped through the gates and no more than 1 person has escaped through the hatch.

The gates were powered twice since I've started paying attention and 2 have escaped through the hatch out of 15+ matches

  • Because it was an advertisement lol

You know that thing... that battlepass... If you complete the whole thing on the free track or the premium track than you'll get all of your Auric Cells back on the premium track... I say the free track also because if you completed either track, and buy the premium track or just already bought it at the start and finished it... than you'll make the 1k Auric Cells you spent back in interest.

And if you think its worth buying the Premium track to get something you could get on the free track, than you can and you'll unlock everything on both tracks (depending on how far you're in said track)

It's more rewarding towards people who will put the time into it, and if you can't for some reason than you don't really have to buy the premium track if you don't want to. And if you do, you'll get all the progress on the premium track that you did on the free track.

We're no where near the levels that EA and Activation has stooped to, and I doubt we'll ever get there.

IF you complete 68 tiers of the battlepass. 680 fragments, 350 IF you complete the entire archive (a task that is out of reach of many players) plus 264,000 player xp (800xp x 330 frags) which can be estimated at 500 xp per 12 minute match minus the number of matches it takes to complete the archive for the remaining 330 fragments within the time limit.

The only purchase guarantee a player has is purchasing the tiers they've already unlocked

"We're no where near the levels that EA and Activation has stooped to, and I doubt we'll ever get there."

I think many of us never imagined a battlepass would have been implemented in the game either... I love this game. I also greatly dislike with fiery passion many of the decisions that are made.

I guess we'll all see what happens to the game eventually.

  • @FireHazard said:

    It's just charms...

Does it really matter if charms are exclusive to those tomes?

The word "Exclusive", while we're all using it correctly the implications of something that's exclusive now, but not exclusive later are purely PR spin.

The Blight Nurse and all other cosmetics are exclusive right now for $10 (if you complete the tiers). But "might not be" exclusive in the future for roughly the same price several months later.

Right now, when someone might just want to purchase the Nurse Blight skin can't because it's exclusive to the battlepass along with all the other cosmetics.

No, no one cares about the charms, but those aren't the draw of the battlepass. The cosmetics are.

In order to push sales of the current battlepass, cosmetics aren't available in the store, but are exclusive to the pass.

  • @FireHazard said:

    It's just charms...

Does it really matter if charms are exclusive to those tomes?

I remember when people said "It's just a cosmetics store"

And now we're getting a battle pass.

    Right now "it's just cosmetics"

    But for how long?

It's a slippery slope argument for sure, but there is no evidence so far that shows this game is not following in the footsteps of EA and Activision when it comes to monitization.

The question really is.. how long until it gets to EA and Activision levels of absurdity?

  • I can't watch the vid since I'm at work, but if the servers are favoring survivor actions over a killer's then that really makes all of my recent matches make much more sense.

Failed grabs on survivors in many situations, one instance having multiple failed grabs on one survivor on one gen as they gen tapped to finish a gen.

Missed attacks through pallets that would have connected before.

Losing a hatch standoff when we both stood at the hatch as it opened and the survivor seemingly escapes through a closed hatch.

Could just be latency since we see instances of survivors getting hit when they're clearly out of range from their end, but as usual, it feels as though there are more problems on one side than the other.

The only thing they have seemed to confirm is going to be locked to the Rift is charms

The Blight Nurse will probably be a Rift exclusive also.

If it wasn't, it'd be on the menu along with the others in the shop.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

Well one theory I have is that it keeps the player coming back to the rift. I think people would be more likely to buy stuff if they see it more/it's on their mind.

This is a good point too.

  • Money.

Psychologically manipulating people into feeling like they're missing out on something in order to push them towards purchasing the Rift.

There is literally no other reason. If there is, it's a PR spin to make the system sound less manipulative.

  • Yes that's how it'll work.

There are pros and cons to this change.

My least favorite con is that now the events will all follow this trend and won't be special events.

They're essentially "bonus" bloodpoint weekends since you need an offering to gain the bonus bloodpoints. It's not even double :/

    meh.

I understand. Next time bring up the kid in a sub saharan village who cranks a windmill to supply power for their internet and gaming as it might garner more sympathy than the perpetually victimized college student.

If one can afford college but wont give up their Starbucks coffee shot once every 3 months then do without. The game shouldn't stagnate development based on them.

    Name checks out.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

Yes my problem is no matter what I may have I tend to switch up characters and skins so much with the variety we have it's never good for me to pay real money as I will instantly wish for a different one.

Too much choice for myself isn't great as the saying goes. "I used to think I was indecisive but now I'm not so sure"

This is my problem as well.

Character customization is my favorite part of any game. It's too bad the system they have in place limits the ease that skins can be created.

Fan created survivor and killer themes that could be easily applied to the game through the steam workshop would be amazing...

Although we'd probably have players trying to give claudette and adam a ninja suit lol

  • I bought the lettuce and medusa skins for hag...

I really only use the P3 Head and hands with the red dress I got for shards.

I don't think I'll purchase cosmetics for cash/cells ever again... Although the green hand for hag in the rift free track might go well with the lettuce outfit...

  • At some point you wonder why people stop leaving you messages so often...

  • Yes, loops are a problem.

This is why Nurse, Spirit, and Hag are so good. Depending on your skill or strategy, you can shut loops down completely.

For all other killers who are forced to chase survivors through those loops to get their hits, it is very frustrating and boring to deal with.

It really is too bad that this is how the core of the game works. It's better for survivors to run in circles to waste time rather than stealthily evade the killer and survive that way.

  • This'd be another opportunity to ease up the grind by hooking us up with rift fragments in the dailies :)

  • @Boss said:

Hmm no, a lot more is gonna be available, that'll quickly raise it above other Bloodhunts for me.

I suppose survivors get special medkits and flashlights...

Too bad killers can't get anything special like that...

  • @GraveHunter said:

The vials in the rift are in the free slot, you don't need to pay for it at all...

When did I say it needed to be paid for? Also, the free pass IS the battlepass lol

I get what you're saying, but I'm really just talking about how this is probably how all events are going to be handled from now on. Event rewards in the battlepass rather than being directly earned from holiday events.

Just sad to me is all.

Insta's are going away. So you can cross that off.

DS, already nerfed to heck and almost useless if your unhooked and the killer isnt there.

Dead Hard, Really, that slight boost is an issue for you? Lol

Sprint burst? Really, its a temporary boost, At the START of a chase....gees man, them some petty complaints. Surprised you didnt mention Mettle or Man, which was a little to OP when first added I'll admit.

On the flip side, Mori's, Insta downs (though, you complain about insta heals...hrmm) NOED, Feral Fenzy seeing people in lockers, Camping, Tunneling etc etc. I can go on about stuff to

    Survivor main surprises no one.

...well maybe there's a reason you personally don't see that...

  • I haven't paid close attention, but the speed buff is for others and even the strongest kit will only heal one health state if I understand it right.

The buffs are pretty marginal from my pov as a killer main who focuses on gens rather than heals.

Hey nice YouTube channel. Is the blood hunt following Halloween event a real thing?

    Hey thanks :)

I need to to double check for sure, but I believe this is the case UNLESS the bloodhunt is actually the halloween event itself.

  • The Halloween event is basically just a bloodhunt with special hooks and gens. There really isn't anything special about it other than that. Then there will be a regular bloodhunt the following weekend I think.

However, the rift and the vials will remain for the duration of the current Tome so you won't have to worry about missing out on them... but that is unless the challenges and difficulty of unlocking tiers changes for the better...

  • It makes me happy seeing so many people say Hag here :)

But yea, Hag is top for me, but honestly I want more practice with Demo because I think he might be really good.

  • As far as cosmetics go, they do their job. They decorate things in the game.

The problem is that the charms themselves are very low on the "oh cool I need that" meter like character cosmetics are.

Exclusive or not, they're kind of lame and won't sell the pass to anyone. If I'm reading people right, they'll be looking at the charms as small extras rather than good cosmetics on their own.

Balancing entirely versus green ranks would make everything weak at red ranks, don't you think?

This is actually why many killers are "weak" at higher ranks.

  • @Mookywolf said:

whoooaaa, what happened to your 13.5 hours you said last time? 111 hours is a huge jump, what changed the math on this exactly?

    I forgot that 1 fragment doesn't complete a tier, 10 do.

800xp per fragment x 10 fragments for each tier = 8000 xp per tier

    divided by an average of 500xp per 12 minute game = 8000 / 500 = 16 matches per tier

    (16 x 12) / 60 = 3.2 hours per tier.

35 tiers remaining after archive completion means that the remaining 35 tiers require a time investment of 112 hours to complete.

This time can also be accrued during the completion of the archive, but it's kept separate to keep things simple.

112 hours is assuming you can complete the archive in that same number of matches.

Additional matches to actually complete the archive itself will add to this time considerably.

  • @Mr_K said:

Casuals are more likely to pay then grind.

I think there are multiple levels to the archives and will be available every few weeks. This should make up the remaining rift points.

Total rift fragments per level are less than 100 each.

You get 352 fragments for completing the entire archive.

  • I love my Huntress Hound mask for that very reason.

Also, it was earned at a time when flashlight and pallet stuns forced a killer to drop a survivor during any point of the pickup animation.

You wanna talk about a hard won cosmetic?

Heck yea I'd be ticked off if other people could buy it without the pain of that patch...
