I disagree whole heartedly that the game would lose HALF its players. Why would killers prefer to opt out of swf? What possibly could chase killers to solo queues? The reasons to keep swfs as a forced option are bad examples. Omg killers would overpower us. Nooo the game would fold and die off. Only swfs can save us. They bring money but the new players who don't have to be forced to play against swfs bring money in too. I hope they make it an option to play with or against swfs. I truly thibk it would bring a bigger audience.
If SWF was an option that killers would totally take over solo games, then you wouldn't need to separate SWF in the first place. Your whole argument is that killers should be given the choice to play against SWF or not, implying that SWF is harder or not an enjoyable game mode. Otherwise why would such a 'choice' be needed.
To quote your initial post : (and no i don't agree with you falsely generalizing an entire section of the game )
"Majority of SWF is toxic"
"The game loses new players all the time because of the abuse feed to new players by swfs"
If this were to be true, and you separated SWF ques, VERY FEW killers would opt into it.
Your other argument seems to be it will bring new players to the game. Perhaps it would, but how many of them join the game because they think it will be a cool game to play with their friends?
I don't deny there is toxicity due to SWF, i don't deny that some SWF groups might be unfun or frustrating to play against. The same can be said about a lot of this game because everybody has their own beef somewhere along the line. Separating SWF ques might increase the player base, but only very briefly once players realize that if they want to play this game socially they have to sit in a que that will be excruciatingly long. Because as you stated "Majority of SWF is toxic" and whether this is true or simply a perpetuated myth based on the actions of the few rather than the many, the statement gets thrown around enough that nobody would touch such a mode.
Social gameplay is a big thing in this day and age, you cannot deny that. Most of us have a group we play with, or perhaps family at home or some other form of gaming social circle. And while yes, DBD does have a decent solo player base, any game that can be considered multiplayer will also have a huge 'group' player base. It's why even single player games hammer in terrible multiplayer modes because word of mouth and 'group gaming' culture continues to grow and make them money.
I don't have a horse in the race one way or another, but your idealist notion that splitting the player base will improve player count and the game overall, is either willful ignorance or not thoroughly thought through beyond the result you hope for.

Yeah I'm with you here. Flashlight saves are haphazard at best, apparently they are even worse to aim recently, though that's merely opinion gathered from other posts so don't quote me on that. I honestly don't think most would be remotely concerned, and the few that did would be unlikely to gain much support.
-
Kindred, We'll Make It and Empathy, the last one i swap out with whatever perk takes my mood at the time.
I'm the one you want to see heading towards your hook if I'm not doing gens or healing others.
Little tip for some who might not know. But when you're unhooked, glance at your buffs on the bottom right. If you see a blue buff with the same symbol as my avatar, your rescuer has We'll Make It, and unless the killer is on your butt, it's safer to stand still and receive a super fast heal than make them chase you half way across the map to a 'safe spot'.

I can't take hatch givers anymore. They've broken my heart too much with the old slam hatch in my face.
General rule of thumb for me is if they drop me right on the hatch it's genuine 99% of the time. If they drop me a little way from the hatch and wait for me to crawl, i'm immediately suspicious due to past experience and just lay there. I don't expect to be given hatch, and i fully accept the killer can pick me up again and hook me, they earned the kill. But i won't play the 'slam the hatch in your face game'. If you don't move, most of the time they will get the issue and drop you on top of it.
I do like to give hatch when the opportunity arises or just carry them on out of the gate if it's open and closer.
-
Would love to see a Frank The Bunny skin for one of the killers. You don't have to know much about this dude to want to run away from that face....First glimpse of it terrified me when i first watched the movie.

Now that I think of it, I have a lot of wholesome moments in this game.
Just yesterday I went against a nurse who was struggling a bit but managed to get her 4k. At one point I went inside a locker to get an inner strength heal after unhooking a Bill. For a reason I'll never know, he fast vaults into the locker next to mine, actively letting the nurse know where he is. Mind you he didn't have inner strength or decisive. He naturally gets grabbed out of the locker. Me and the nurse had a good laugh about it then had a small chat before saying our goodbyes.
Another wholesome moment was when two teammates, most likely SWFing together, DCed at the exact same moment at 5 gens. We were versing a huntress and I was pretty much ready to move on to the next game. I hear the huntress coming toward me, so I stand near a window and signal her to come over to me and just do the deed. Instead she shakes her head at me, comes up to me and signals me to farm with her. I let her sacrifice me as a thanks in that game and we became good friends after that. Gokuzu if by any chance you're reading this, you're awesome man.
A similar situation happened with a Myers when two Davids DCed early in the game and he let me and the Dweet farm. We both let him sacrifice us to show our thanks.
I was playing with a friend once and we went against a struggling Billy. In post game chat he said he really wants to learn him, so me and my friend invited him to a custom match where he (and we) practiced for a while.
I can't remember the name of this person, but we got matched together twice, once when they were playing Laurie and the other time when playing sheriff Jake. They mention liking Felix (Felix main here) and in post game chat they complimented me for looping the killer. I'm hoping we get to play together someday.
Last but not least, back when I was still new to the game I wanted to try out huntress. I got matched with a group of red rank survivors who noticed I was brand new. In post game chat they complimented my throws and patience with the hatchets, and told me very firmly to not let matchmaking discourage me from getting better. I honestly wish we can get matched together again in the future.
Nice to see someone else who gives the killer that last hook in a farming situation. I've literally had stand offs with killers wanting me to escape while i stand firmly under a hook. Just feels wrong to me to escape when I've likely racked up enough points to keep me happy, and while on console it was a nice way of saying thanks without having to spend 5 minutes typing out a ps4 message.

It is important to remember that the people on the other side of the avatar are actual people. And no matter how many times someone brings out the good old "GG EZ", you do not have to be like them.
This game often breeds hostility like rats, and i'm always impressed by the people who can rise above it. Being decent doesn't mean you have to let yourself get walked over, it just means you can take pity on the newbies from time to time, and reward the people who give you a decent run for your money.
Always ignore the cheap shots, because they are always designed to make the offender feel better about themselves, never give them that. We need more people like you, because the games where i feel i genuinely feel like i had a good game win or lose, with a random person will always be a salve to the dozen or so games where someone is trying to prove they have a massive E-Peen either in game or in chat.
You don't have to throw every game to be decent, but a little now and then, goes a long way for the people paying attention.
I wish you all the luck in your games and hope the toxicity continues to slide off you!
-
Once again, i honestly don't have a horse in this race. Most of the time im flying solo, and when i do play in a team its in KYF, because god forbid even our non meta, non BMing butts ever DARE, to play together in ranked matches. Nope we get tarred with the same 'bully' brush even when we lose, and obviously deserve the abuse that comes our way.
However. For the last time and for those that appear to be hard of hearing / reading.
If a dev states that something is NOT cheating, it is NOT cheating no matter how you want to color it.
Your own personal rulebook does not contain actual rules. Nobody has to follow your rules and vice versa.
If you have a problem with SWF, fair enough, i can actually sympathize with the people who offer earnest and thoughtful changes that might help smooth things out. The people who actually put thought into how their proposed changes might effect both sides, instead of just doing their best to stick it to the other side.
But if you are sitting there INSISTING that people are cheating and that SWF was never intended to be a feature when proof of the opposite is shown time and time again, you're only adding to the problem that turns every attempt at a 'discussion' into an Us vs Them ######### slapping contest. And why on earth should the devs listen to anyone doing the forum equivalent of slapping both hands over their ears while screaming "LALALA IM NOT LISTENING" when the truth is laid out.
Once again, i have no invested interest in whether swf stays, goes, or is changed. But it amuses me that some people expect the devs to listen to them, when they can't even entertain the idea of listening to their fellow players.

I will die for these. Boil Over, Flip Flop and Tenacity. I guess Unbreakable is considered somewhat meta as it has synergy with DS and Soul Guard, but if not, then also Unbreakable.
I do also like Slippery Meat, I don't see many people using it. Same for Empathy, I see more people using Bond over Empathy, but I do prefer Empathy.
Edit: Also Pebble.
I'm right there with you on Empathy. While useful to find injured party members it also gives me a lot of information, especially paired with Kindred.
We'll make it, pair this sweet little perk with botany and kindred, safe hooks for everyone and very fast heals, get that survivor back in the game!
Empathy, WMI and Kindred are my staples in dbd game play, my niche ambulance build has always been useful. Leaving me to switch out the last perk for:
Botany: Super fast healing
Plunderers: For when Jane feels like playing busty santa and delivering all the toolboxes and medkits to the survivor girls and boys.
Quick and quiet: Not sure if this one is counted as meta, saved my butt countless times though
Head on: I don't use this often, mostly because when i do i never get the damn opportunity to activate it, but when i do...its satisfying
Pebble: Because its just funny when it works, and even funnier when you don't realise the killer just watched you throw it and is now shaking their head at you.

It's somewhat interesting that everyone is suddenly constantly crashing when the DC penalty is enforced again.
Don't like being punished for having a bad connection?
Blame the people who can't take getting hit first.
Blame the people who don't like the map
Blame the people who disconnect before the survivors can get out the door
Blame the survivors who don't like the killer.
Blame the people who decided that 'boring' games gave them the right to screw over their own team and the killer over and over again.
I've played dbd for for years now, on both console and pc. I have a decent but not top notch connection. I've crashed ONCE on console and not a single time on pc. I'm not saying they don't happen at all, but i find it highly suspicious that there is a crash epidemic the second the DC penalty is back.
If i DO crash, I will happily eat the penalties in order to not put up with the pathetic excuses as to why DC is justifiable beyond real life obligations/ issues.
However i do believe a system that can be held hostage by hackers banning top streamers, is a rather large oversight, and if it hasn't been dealt with already...it should be.

So because you got gud you deserve to be nerfed? What kind of logic is that?
The same logic that has infected and spread all the way through this community.
If something is effective, or asks you to change up standard playstyle, or counters your usual perk / add on load out, it is clearly uncounterable and op, therefore we must move the goalposts again because its "Not Fair".
In other words, self serving logic.
-
Honestly, you could play a stationary tree that only gets to slap survivors when they run past you and people would still complain for made up reasons A to Z. You play what you want as long as you enjoy yourself, and just turn off end game chat, best thing i ever did in DBD.
-
I don't defend the nurse because she is hard to play, although she does require more attention than your average killer, i defend her because I find her fun to play against and even a good nurse is counterable, hard to counter yes, but not impossible.
I enjoyed coming up against her before she was nerfed, even in red ranks, and I'm a little sad that I just don't see her as often as I used to. I never understood the no counterplay argument, I found i simply had to adjust the way i played in chases, learning to play nurse in KYF also gave me some pointers on how she worked as i was taught by a decent nurse player. That isn't to say that some don't find her difficult to counter or just frustrating to play against, every opinion is valid, i get it. But I certainly don't see any need for her to be nerfed any more than she already has been.
Nurse has decent snowball capacity, but if she doesn't manage it, then she has to get really good at closing off loops and that isn't as easy as it sounds or even looks. Aiming the nurse isn't always exact, and unless you used a certain perk, you can't always estimate the distance of your blinks. You then have a short window to lash out at a survivor before the cooldown hits you and you're stuck staring at your own feet.
There are better and more experienced nurse players who could give you a far more accurate and detailed account on how it is to play a nurse, but from my experience its not a case of point her in the direction of the survivor and reap the rewards.
I miss that floaty gal.
-
If you want to use a perk, you use a perk. You don't have to ask for permission or approval from anyone else. Especially since most of the people on either side who complain about people using certain perks, will then turn around and in the same breath, reassure people on their own side that they should go ahead and use whatever they like because it isn't up to them to care about the other sides fun.
@Moundshroud has pretty much underlined the only real rules you need to keep in mind to be a decent person in game and they are all points i adhere to personally. I don't use a lot of 'crutch perks' because i love my survivor ambulance build. But you can bet your butt that if i decided to change things one day, I'm not going to wring my hands over my perks when i know the other side isn't debating if a certain perk/ power/addon/ item will be 'fun' for me.

How about killers? Can killers win back if they play bad in early game, like get the first hook when only 3 gens left?
Yes. Seen it enough times to know that this game has always had the potential for either side to drastically turn the tables.
-
Uninstalling = The new 'Holding my breath till i get what i want'
-
No. If you want to slug you slug, But that doesn't mean that the game should take away the survivors chance to turn the tables because you left them unattended on the floor.
If you want survivors to die you either hook them, or let them bleed out.
-
Can't believe i forgot to add this one!
This was the day that ghost face came out on ps4, and every killer was delighting in the fact that they could Tbag. Myself and two friends were together and bumped into this guy twice. Now we three are....giant kids. The minute a killer indicates that they just want to mess around with the sillies, we drop everything, even if we happen to be winning.
That night involved my first ever slug race and a hilarious game later on when we realised we got him twice in one night. I still watch his streams to this day....even though i don't understand a word he's saying. A day after those games, he sent me this video and any time i get really run down by all the toxicity and Us vs Them stuff, i like to go back and watch it to remind myself that there are people who play this game for the fun of it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFRrCk2ue3g&t=1s -
I was in a game with a friend, against a nurse. I actually loved playing against old nurse (sad i don't see as many these days) Less than two minutes into the game the nurse caught and downed one of the other survivors. I guess the other two survivors were friends too because they both DC'd right there and then. My friend an I kind of have an agreement where if half the survivors are gonna DC the game is a bust and we just give ourselves up.
The nurse decided that they were not having this and we did a little farming, which included some actual chases. I messaged the nurse to thank them and compliment them on their nurse playing during the chases. I also added i sucked at nurse and the guy offered to teach me. A year and a half later and the three of us still get together on KYF.
-
Does this strategy make you toxic? Well as someone who believes that if its allowed by in game rules, then it isn't toxic, imo, no that doesn't make you toxic. Some would tell you that its holding the game hostage...not true. Holding the game hostage is a bannable offence but that isn't what you are doing, the survivors will eventually die when they bleed out, you are not forcing them to DC in order to end the match.
That being said, it does make you (personal opinion) fairly boring and unpleasant to play against. It's also not going to do very much for your score in any way and things can go to hell in a handbasket for you if one or more people have unbreakable or soul guard, a perk that allows survivors to fully recover from dying state if they are cursed....and you appear to have a lot of hex perks in your build.
-
It's fairly simple. Mori's are part of the game. Keys are part of the game. They are literally designed to be used in the game. You don't need justification or excuses to use any of them. Are these items particularly fun? Well no, not for the other side, but since this is a game where we play against others this is pretty much a moot point. The devs didn't design parts of the game so that we could wring our hands and wonder if using such tools is 'fair', they designed them to be used. If there are issues with these tools, thats on the devs, it isn't up to either side to politely not use them because their opposing side think its unfair.
So break out your mori's, Keys and spooky lunchboxes. Stop worrying about what the other side thinks about your set up, because if there is one thing i have learned about this game in the years that i've played it; For all that both sides complain about the other sides utilities, they are damn quick to tell their own side that they should use whatever the heck they like because its not their job to care about the other sides fun.
This frame of mind used to bother me. But i've learned to embrace it because things just aren't going to change while both sides are too busy trying to prove they are right or screaming because the other side got more candy in the latest patch. I don't use meta perks because my playstyle is different, but if one day i feel like slipping on the old DS + Unbreakable combo, or go for a wham bam thank you dead survivors match with mori's and pink addons. Imma do it with very little guilt.
-
Grow up. That is all.
-
If you want to tunnel, then tunnel. I find it weird that the majority of killers (and to some extent i agree with this) say that you should play how you want to play regardless of complaints, and then make threads like these to try and justify it. You don't need a silly excuse to tunnel, it is part of the game. Is it fun? Heck no, but we've already established why that is a moot point if you are the type to tunnel.
These silly definitions baffle me. Stop telling each other how to play, your rule book does not contain actual rules.
Survivors, you may not like getting tunneled, but it's here to stay regardless of whether you like it or not.
Killers, sometimes survivors get as much out of getting that last two seconds of a gen done in your face as they will in a chase. It's that "F**k it, i'm commiting moment"
Stop telling your own sides to play how they want while making up silly rules or declaring "If they use this, i can use that"
Use what you damn well like as long as its part of the game. And if the other side don't like it, just turn off the chat and keep doing you. It's got to be easier than this eternal and often hypocritical debate that comes up for every part of the game.

Like an option to refund items for a percentage of what they cost in a bloodweb. Even half would probably be acceptable.
This. I don't use flashlights, i'm a terrible aim. I don't bring keys, no point when it pretty much makes you a tunnel / camp target 80% of the time. Map offerings will sit there till the end of time, along with all the associated addons to the items mentioned. I can deal with bloodweb grind but for the love of god please let us refund the useless crap we're forced to take in order to progress the bloodweb, even a portion of it, or a set amount of BP if you collect so many of a certain item or addon, or do the same collection thing but now you can swap it for a cake or streamers. At the moment we are literally forced to pour BP down the drain on items we will never use.
-
The worst ones are when you have a strong start and then people suddenly seem to loose their minds. Just had a game where we were at 4 gens done. One nea goes down at the basement so the kate goes running in and cue hook swapsies down in the basement till they are both dead. I've managed to unhook and fast heal all three of them at least once before this. I finally get caught by the killer, we're still one gen to go, im on my first hook and the vomit comet isn't camping.
I get a front row seat as detective tapp proceeds to move from locker to locker for the full length of my hook and struggle phase.
The game could use some tinkering, but as far as coms go? If it had a mute button sure, because it would be permanently on. I've seen how people talk to each other on the forums and in after game chat, i don't want to hear everyone's rage insults because they got downed first or i didn't play the game exactly the way they want.
-
I use a tag team of Kindred and Empathy, they compliment my medic build beautifully. Bond is very useful for a lot of things, especially what @Inji mentioned, regarding steering people away. I'm not very good at chases though so i stick with empathy. It tells me where the newly struck are being chased so i can work on a gen or get out of the way if their running towards me. I can find my injured bros and apply some botany.
But kindred? Kindred is a freaking godsend. Killer is camping, you usually know it unless they stealth. I had a scratch mirror myers try and hide out near my hook just yesterday. Did not work out for him. If you're running a hook rescue, you can see the exact moment to ump in, and if you aren't, kindred gives you a heads up on which direction the killer left the hook.

Clearly you didn’t read all the comment.. not only myself but other people as well have commented on the homophobia that people have commented on this post..
Actually i did read it, and found myself disgusted by the responses, whipping out the word homophobic like it was a shield that could end an argument.
You want to toy with the characters sexuality? You go to town, come up with whatever you fancy in your head. But the minute you put it up on the forums, asking for opinions then get mad and start throwing out the H word when opinions aren't to your liking, that's where you end up in the wrong.
That kind of attitude doesn't encourage tolerance or understanding, it just makes everything combative when it doesn't have to be.
If DBD want to make a little LGBTQ representation in the future, more power to them, and hey, it might be one of those small steps that build to big things in the gaming world, I am all down for that, and I garuntee you the REAL homophobic attitudes will be the vast minority, who will quickly get squashed. They always do.
But disagreeing with your opinion, does not a homophobe make.

Finally someone who understands where I’m coming from!!! <3 I completely agree with you ! and the fact that so many people attacked me because “it means nothing” and “we don’t need representation in this game” was soooo frustrating! Their clearly straight, probably homophobic and made that very clear.. they’ll never understand the struggle of not having anyone to relate to in a game or a movie because there’s no one that’s really like us in it and it shows.. I’m glad the worlds getting to a point where it’s getting better, The last of us with Ellie and Dina, apex with girbilator or however you spell his name and the fallout games by making it to where you can romance any companion you want.. I’m hoping dbd will follow through with what they said they’d do soon and add some lgbt characters, but dewight and David should defenitly be cannon lol i love the ship and could totally see them being the cute lil jock and nerd couple lol.. also I really appreciate this comment it genuinely made me really happy to see someone who could see how I felt and understood me <3
"Now that i have people who agree with me, i feel safe to brand everyone who didn't agree with me as homophobic"
Bisexual myself by the way.
I find people who throw around the homophobia word casually like that, just as f***ing bad as the actual homphobes. It cheapens the word beyond measure and you have absoloutley no idea the actual sexuality or beliefs of anyone in this forum. You're just pissed everyone isn't agreeing with your head cannon.
Pretty despicable to be throwing homophobic around like a two dollar word on an internet forum because people don't want to play your game.
-
Honestly wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I don't take keys into trials, if i find one in a box..yay, otherwise who cares? If i drop a key, i drop it with the knowledge that i risk someone picking it up. If i carry a key around, i live with the fact that if a killer spots it, my ass is getting hooked and tunneled. If an item gets knocked out of my hand and someone picks it up, well lets hope its useful. Yeah some people can be real cheeky about it, but i tend not to stress and get petty over an item i likely have dozens of in my inventory.
-
I like my medic build, I can move around the map without being spotted by the killer most of the time. Perform safe unhooks, fast heals, determine the killers location via injured survivors and the kindred perk. If i get found and chased i use the environment and by playing carefully, it's usually late game by the time I'm on my first hook.
I leave the match with a decent amount of points. Medic builds can be a great boost to a team, and more importantly I have fun with the build. No need for exhaustion perks.
-
Swing and a miss. I also love how you call people entitled survivor mains, while asking for the game to reveal survivors locations via the first gen with no effort on the killers part. Bravo, you hit the irony jackpot. I advocate for killers as well as survivors but this is a ridiculous suggestion.
There are perks that will help you locate survivors quicker, you don't have to use them, but not using them doesn't mean the game has to give you a massive hint at the start. I've seen literally hundreds of killers from yellow to red ranks do just fine.
-
I don't really play Kate, but if we let this go on....my Jane could be next!!
Who else will play the Busty Santa meme and deliver the happy little flashlights and toolboxes to the survivor girls and boys with a smile and maximum bounce?
#JusticeForBoobPhysics
#JusticeForKateDenson
-
The simple answer? Because it isn't about the counterplay at all, it's about getting the last word in and 'winning' at forums. Just like most posts when one side has a suggestion or complaint about the other side.
Kinda sad really.
-
Honestly, using whatever perks, addons or tactics you like is technically allowed, but I don't think i would have fun playing with you in a match. Then again given your build and the silly childish move of closing the hatch in a downed survivors face, i get the impression that this doesn't concern you much. You do you at the end of the day, no rules to say you have to play nice, but a game like this would be a disappointment to me since I'm the sort of survivor who tries very hard to avoid their own side's 'toxic' stereotypes.

no no my point is the person sending the message will tell you it’s not toxic you deserve the death threat for winning and I don’t mean in a toxic way
I mean like say their team farmed them or forced the killer to camp instead it ever being the survivors fault to them it’s always the killers but if you ask them why they think the killer just playing is toxic and not them messaging death threats you get “you deserve it for tunneling/camping”
so my question was for those that have this mindset or even for those with a logical mindset why do people think this way? And it seems a lot agree if you beat someone in a video game you deserve death threats because as killer you have to follow the imaginary survivor handbook
Why are killers exempt from this scenario exactly? I have had some truly horrible things sent to me for daring to win in a match against a killer, WITHOUT using meta perks or BMing, or even getting a hatch escape. Like you just described, all i did was play the game and happened to win and apparently that was more than enough for several death threats, and worse.
I'm not excusing survivors acting like d**ks because killers do it. I agree that people doing this over a video game is pathetic and childish. But i find it very telling that you seem to believe or want others to believe that survivors alone are at fault for this behavior. Which begs the question, do you believe ALL toxicity of this type is wrong and that BOTH sides have people wielding 'imaginary rule books' to justify this kind of abuse?
Or are you here to simply bash survivors?
-
I loathe the toxicity in gaming in general and like @Gylfie mentioned, I simply don't have it to be mean to people in general, let alone in a damn video game.
I think a good portion of the toxicity comes from several sources. Some people are actual children, some people simply take advantage of internet anonymity and lack of consequences to vent their inner frustrations or simply their inner a**hole. A good few people do it because "Hey this really cool youtuber does it" and those people really can't be helped. Others have anger issues and cannot cope with losing or even winning with any amount of grace or dignity.
I combat this cess pit of childish taunting and misplaced anger in several ways, but the best way for me is to just try and prove that there are decent survivors out there. I don't BM. I see no point in it, im nearly 40 years old for christ sake. If a killer wins, i say GG no matter what, even if the game frustrated me. That's a person on the other end of the killer, i have no interest in making them feel like poop for any reason. If a killer kills 3 of my team mates and there is no reasonable means of escape, imma give myself up rather than make you hunt me down for ages. You want to farm? I'll make sure you get my 3rd hook rather than escape because fair is fair and 3 survivors likely just walked out. If im playing with my friend and 2 people DC, we'll try and make you laugh and then allow you to hook our silly asses.
Basically my advice is, don't take the toxicity with you. You can't stop people from being toxic, but you CAN make sure that you don't let it effect you. Set an example, if not for everyone else, then for yourself.
I'll um....get off my soapbox now :D

NOED - Even as a survivor it annoys me to no end because there IS a counter, and just because it isn't a GUARANTEED counter doesn't mean it is a bad perk.
Survivor Crutch Perks/Killer Crutch Perks = The game gets harder as you progress, people optimize their play style, that's how games work. If there are issues with a perk, that's on the game designers and should not be used as an excuse to bash on each other for playing the best way to survive/kill, which is what cheeses me off the most about these threads because hardly anyone is going to refuse to use the tools that best helps them win.
Nerf Killer - Why? Why not adapt or simply accept that among the large variety of killers, you are going to come up against some hard to counter issues, just as the killers do when survivors run strong perks. The whole culture of 'nerf this because it makes my life hard' is insane to me after playing games for nearly 30 years.
Devs are Killer/Survivor biased - A nonsense idea that would never work if you wanted to run an actual business. Don't get me wrong, there are issues in this game but the whole 'biased' thing is ridiculous and whats worse is that half the people who make these threads know it.
Mori V's Keys - I don't have a horse in this race one way or another, i rarely use either. I'm just sick of seeing them and sick of it being brought up as an excuse whenever anyone attempts to have an adult discussion about the subject.
If you use (Insert perk, killer. game mode, survivor, clothing choice, add on, item) you are (insert childish name) - Simply F off with this kind of garbage. The only 'rules' any player has to follow are the ones set down by the game devs.
Killer/ Survivor toxic - I don't deny that there are toxic players out there, but stop lumping everyone from each group as the same and STOP pretending your own side isn't just as bad. Especially with the Killer/Survivor rule book nonsense.
Balance threads - Not all balance threads, some people have some good ideas, but the majority of these threads is someone suggesting something that will help only their side with NO consideration for balance on the other side. If you aren't considering and adjusting your idea according to the ramifications of the other side, you aren't asking for balance, you're asking the devs to 'stick it to those nasty killers/survivors" Also the "We got nerfed on this so they should get a nerf" threads are simply childish.

While I agree with you and have always maintained spirit is fine to play against, i find it quite disturbing that you have to make your point by spending most of this thread bashing other survivors.
That doesn't help. And some of these comments sounded very much like you were baiting survivors to come on in here and argue with you, which also doesn't help anyone. It's just more of the same "Survivor/killers are whiney babies" that keeps the inability to even entertain the other sides ideas going.
Good points were made here, but the execution just seems like bait.

I run both empathy and kindred, and sometimes it just makes me sad as i watch 2 people swarm a hook while i stand there, we'll make it hand. Or when empathy shows me 3 survivors self caring in separate corners.

Why can the killer do this?
Because your video PROVES that it's still possible to save a survivor in this scenario. Your team mate had ample time to move out of the way of a telegraphed hit. They didn't. Ergo the fault is their own and the other 3 team mates who were not quick enough to get to the cage before a killer who couldn't even SEE the cage, managed to find it on the other side of the map (please correct me if im wrong but i do believe they spawn a good distance away?)
I've also seen enough team mates teabag and flashlight blind at the gates that getting annoyed at someone dancing on a DC'er is just silly.

Gen rush = rush squad, newbie killer, survivors not running into chases on purpose and alternating gens when pushed off one
Kill rush = Really potato survivors, overly altruistic survivors, killer who knows what their doing.
There are several explanations for each, probably more than what I put here. It amazes me how many people scramble for the explanation that makes their opposing side look bad.
You can't boil these things down to "Grrrr survivor / Killer bad" Especially when blood points and pips don't matter to some people, and while the playstyle might seem boring to some, to others, it's just fine.

yeah we finally found someone clever enough to understand the point, well done mate :=) (no sarcasm)
Not agreeing with your idea does not equate to stupidity. For some people this simply wouldn't feel fun. Sheesh.

At the end of the day, who cares if its toxic or not. If it isn't a cheat or an exploit, then anybody else's opinion is their own and you don't have to let it influence you.
Like DS, NOED is a perk designed to be used, some call them crutch perks and perhaps they are, but survivor / Killer rules are not the same as actual rules and the bare bones fact is; You paid for the game, you play how you wish.
There are some good points in this thread, both for and against, but at the end of the day you do you when its within the rules of the actual game, not rules of etiquette that change from one week to the next.
-
Yeah sorry. Imaginative ideas, but stuff like this would be the final straw for me.
-
Unless yous specifically paid for my game, I'll go ahead and use what I like. I'm not going to stop using a perk just because other people use it in an ineffective manner. If we went by that rule, no perk in the game would be allowed.

I'll usually knock down the unhooked (sorry) to deny the unhooker their emblem progress, then I'll chase the unhooker for farming you.
Oh don't get me wrong, i thoroughly believe its killers choice at this stage, you're just doing what you do and the blame never gets thrown your way for someone else being a d**k :D
-
Both sides believing that everyone on the other side is toxic for pretty much everything they do, while denying that their side were just as bad. Or @PigMainClaudette 's answer. Take your pick.
-
It's fairly simple from my perspective. If you unhook me while the killer is chasing you, ESPECIALLY without BT, I am going to assume you are either hook farming me or trying to get the killer off your back by giving them an easy rehook (and gods bless you legends who leave the farmed player alone in favor of chasing the farmer).
Now. DBD gives you a choice on whether you play as a team or screw people over, and if you are in the latter category...well your playstyle is legitimate i guess.
However if you pull this s**t i will leave you high and dry for the rest of the match.

God no. I barely see nurses played anymore as it is. She doesn't need to be crippled any more than her last nerf did. Leave the poor girl alone!
