  • Sounds fairly reasonable. I will intermittently heal and crawl if im slugged as i have no intention of being where the killer left me. There is nothing worse than someone who's been down for long enough to recover nearly all the way and then you find out they aren't even halfway.

Worse are the people who try picking you up while they are being chased by the killer. I just spent a minute crawling away and recovering and now the killer knows EXACTLY where i am again.

So it seems like you have a sound policy about a downed player, pretty much the same way i look at it.

Wait a minute. Are you telling me there is some sort of symbol that indicates when the person pulling you from the hook has healing buffs? I've been playing this game a long time and didn't know that.

Yup, bottom right next to your perks. That's where all your debuffs and buff effects from things like prove thyself and we'll make it show up. Debuffs red, buffs blue. I believe it's to do with the status effect HuD

  • Nurse. Always had fun playing against nurses, but then they went a bit overboard on the nerfs and it seems that i rarely see one these days. Facing a decent nurse was always a tense game.

  • Use whatever the heck you like. Because 90% of the time the people complaining about those perks will then go onto a killer thread and answer a similar question from the other side with:

"Play the game however you like, its not up to the survivors how you play and you aren't responsible for their fun"

Which, is true. But doesn't seem to apply to the other side. Not that survivors don't do this too. There will always be double standards and there will ALWAYS be excuses as to why what applies to one side, 'shouldn't' apply to the other.

So play what you like, and enjoy the game your way, because everyone else will.

  • @WheresTheGate said:

The problem with that is most survivors aren't running the build you are running, and we have no way to know who's running what build. In other words the majority of the time it's going to be in my best interest to get some distance between me and that hook as quickly as possible. So, while it may indeed be in my best interest to stand there if someone like you unhooked me the odds are not in my favor that is the case, and I have no way to know. That means I'm going to go with the much higher probability that the person who unhooked me isn't running your build.

We'll make it adds a buff symbol for you when you are pulled off the hook. That's the one you want to look out for, because it means they can heal you WAY faster than usual. That's the ONLY time i stay at the hook to be healed as long as the killer is otherwise occupied.

  • Honestly, no you aren't obligated to help them by any rules the devs have applied.

I think it's kinda down to the situation. If people are playing normally and someone makes an oopsie, i think its really cool of the killers who do hit, pick up and release. However if its happening more than once and seems to be a ploy to waste your time, just hit them and hook them or leave them to bleed.

Had a match today where the killer did a catch and release the first time it happened to a meg. Then I ran into the same hill like an idiot a minute or so later, didn't begrudge the killer hitting me and hooking me at this point, he'd played fair, but shouldn't have been expected to let me go at the expense of his own game. Especially when i KNEW the hill was buggy!

In this case, i was the stupid, i got hooked, fair enough.

  • About 70% of killers who want to 'punish' survivors for reasons XYZ, just want an excuse to play like d*cks

DO. FKN. TOTEMS and stop making the rest of us look bad by whining on the forums about baby killers. They have strong and sometimes OP perks, so do we. Get over it already.

Huge double standards apply on both sides and both sides like to pretend there aren't.

Most 'balance' posts only concern themselves with balance for one side while 'sticking it' to the other side is always a well sought bonus

People who whine for the 'right' to DC need a salt mine mode so the rest of us can play in peace

DBD does need a ban system or some other way to penalize or pool together DC brats. However, if your system is subject to being held hostage by hacking high profile streamers...you need a new system.

Oh Hey, neat. My original comment. I thought I deleted it somehow.

And agreed, thats why I wanted to use devour. I wanted to EARN the achievement. It wasn't easy either but eventually it stopped spawning out in the open or next to a gen and that bought me just enough time.

But I totally understand if the survivors I played against don't see it that way. To an extent. The people complaining that it was some sort of God perk obviously gave no thought towards how to handle it. And ironically, the survivors I got the 4k on were actually pretty chill about it. One dude even gave a congrats. But I guess thats kind of my the point. Have a healthy mindset about the opposing side. When I'm solo queue I'm way more angry at my team than I ever am at the killer. And I never blame survivors for absolutely stomping me either. If their toxic, sure, I get frustrated. But If I lose, I lose. I click ready again and I'm over it.

Yup, you pretty much just outlined my general philosophy on DBD.

That's Fair. And maybe I have the rarer experience of being spared moris more often. I know as far as offering moris go I've only ever burned 2. The first was a green because I just wanted to test moris out, the other was a yellow that I forgot to use.

Now, I have used devour hope a fair few times. It was a self imposed challenge that I wanted the "mori 4 survivors" achievement without burning an offering. But thats really it. And to me thats been a VERY short portion of my "killer career".

Awww come on now, Devour hope Mori's are fair, you gotta work for those babies and if survivors are smart they will figure out what you have going, and if they are just plain lucky, they stumble into your totem, totally fair imo.

The most I tend to use every now and then is probably the green or yellow mori. But man when you earn that sweet devour hope endgame....beautiful

  • @Nearic said:

Or just play the game and get over it... last time I played a match with a spirit that brought a red mori, I just accepted that "alright, ya can't win 'em all and this is one of those times."

Me and another survivor T-bagged the bill as he was being brutally murdered and looped the spirit for as long as possible for fun.

And we said our ggs after the match like civilized adults. And if you get morid super early, so what? Especially with queue times as short as they are right now you'll be in the next match in 5 minutes.

Most killers don't bring moris. I genuinely don't understand what there is to be mad about. If you get a killer with a mori EVERY game, sure that's one thing. At that rate BHVR should absolutely address that. But as it stands it seems the general consensus among killers is moris should be used sparingly. And I've only ever come across one.

I'm not going to say that the 'general consensus' thing isn't true, it seems there are different theories everywhere, and generally i have no investment in whether we get extra BP for it. But i can confirm on both ps4 and pc i see PLENTY of moris going around. First two games i played on PC ever, both mori games. Got into a standard match, then two more mori games. It isn't like that ALL the time, but it happens enough times that its more than being 'used sparingly'. A lot more in my experience.

Some of this can be due to challenges, other times it can just be mori day for more than one killer that you bump into. Sometimes your brown toolkit just ensures that you 'deserve it', whatever the reason, its not really something that happens just once in a while.

I don't have an issue with Moris really, they are a part of the game, but they sure are frequent, especially in bloodpoint or special events, then you see them nearly every damn game.

This. So much this. It used to be that waving your hands in the air was the signal for "Don't do it, leave me here" but that somehow got mistranslated into "Get me down"

If you have deliverance, or the killer is stealth / insidious camping and you can see someone about to get themselves killed and you probably downed again, this could be invaluable. It can also be used in end game to those who are happy to self sacrifice if they end up the NOED camp bait.

That's all I've been doing since I bought this game, following the changes and hoping that the game will become a horror game and not a rodeo game!

I didn't notice anything because it's always loop on loop, tbag on tbag... What change ? The ones that trap you in the rocks? The bug of the sound of the suffering survivors, the birds that do not move, the teleportations, the survivors who squat an obstacle in height... these are facts...

I've read a lot of people complaining about the generators, the distance from the generators, and the size of the map... that's a fact too! Do a search I'm not the only one!

I'm not asking to agree, I'm asking to debate! Ignore the problem and the more you play without a killer, it's a logical fact !

    I feel you a little aggressive so..😯

I have actually been rather polite. Pointing out facts isn't in any way aggressive, and if i were deemed to be so, I'd have little bars on my avatar so....

Also i don't believe i in any way denied that certain parts of the game need looking into. So not really sure why you need to underline 'facts', most of us will happily go along with changes because we love the game. Some people will yell and argue the matter but they tend to not look at things from both sides. And that in itself is also a fact.

If you wish me to outline it again, i'll do so. If you want changes then of course, ask for changes. But try doing so without the age old us v's them argument, it does nobody any good and its never a 'balanced' argument if most of your point is "It's their turn now"

  • Its a war cry that both sides use whenever someone on the opposite side actually has a valid point.

"Oh crap they are making sense...better bring out the debate kryptonite!"

  • I would be so fkn down for this!

People want the freedom to DC because the grass in this map is the wrong color, you don't like Myers' shoes or the moonlight hits your eye at the wrong angle?

Cool. go join the hundreds of others who feel equally entitled as you, leave the rest of us in peace to play through a whole game without a handicap, or without you leaving as the 5th gen pops!

Buffs ? Ha yes Legion, Billy, Nurse, Wraith, Spirit.. I pass Bubba, the only thing where he was excellent was the camp... This character is planned for the camp but no, we take out the only thing that made him fun and useful !🤣

I tested Bubba yesterday and it really sucks but I won, because you just have to use an obstacle to avoid your chainsaw, and as in this game it's full of obstacles so you never use your chainsaw ! You can try the chainsaw on the hook, I did it and fortunately it worked, but it's dangerous now = more frustrating (as always).

    "No mither" ?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1576285#Comment_1576285

Do you know me, sir ? No because you would know that I'm not on PC but Xbox one, so I haven't had the pleasure to know these changes yet.. If it's also on Xbox I haven't seen any change...

I didn't see any difference on the generators, the game always ends in 5 minutes, despite my relentlessness to chase the 4 survivors... I understood that my only chance against the teams SWT or SWAT or Micro, or what you want, is the camping ! If they don't come to rescue their friend in the basement I'm going to look for them, and so far it's working, because I have Billy and Legion's perk for the generators so I know who leaves his teammate in the basement or not. However sometimes I am too stubborn and only hunt one survivor (the toxic tbag), frustrating LOL... sometimes I never catch it because obstacles, obstacles, obstacles.. obstacles again ! If you say it's changed, well, that's just what I want ! 🤗

All these changes have been implemented on ALL platforms. Just because you don't see the difference or didn't bother following patch notes, does not mean that the changes have not been made. So i don't have to know you in order to point out yet again, that all the things you have complained about in your original post, have been nerfed already.

If you are going to accuse the other side of not receiving the same treatment as killers when it comes to nerfing, you may wish to do some research.

At the end of the day you are able to voice your opinions on here as much as anyone else, with the understanding that A) Not everyone has to agree with you and B) If you make blanket statements that are not based on any kind of fact you can find with about 5 mins research....your opinion will look to be on less stable ground than you started with.

I'm not being mean, but i am being truthful.

  • @Jill10230 said:

Nerve all the killers, okay, now the survivors!

Decisive strike, 4 survivors with decisive strike is boring, and the perk of David (I forgot the name) and William, and many others... no! Enough, stop, the killers have become snails, too many pallets, too many windows + the distant generators stop !

What do you think about it ? Don't tell me "you don't know how to play", if you know how to play it's because you play against randoms, you'll never be able to win against the survivors who know the game and have a microphone !

You claim to know this game and yet....

    Pallets have already been nerfed.

Mega loops were nerfed and yet bloodlust was not removed

    Healing Nerfed

    Items Nerfed

DS was already nerfed at one point, MoM was rendered useless by all accounts (I don't use either of these so pls correct me if I'm wrong)

Generators were nerfed, as per request, so that it made working together on a gen less profitable, now people complain that survivors split up and gens have to be slowed even more, way to move the goalpost to suit yourself there guys.

Now, im not protesting these nerfs. I'm the type of player who has found a way to play without 'crutch perks' (christ i hate that term), and i do fairly well with whatever changes come my way. Maybe some things need looking at, but frankly you declaring that survivors haven't been nerfed is either willfully ignorant or an uninformed view.

BALANCE, actual BALANCE, requires decisions that better the game. The whole attitude of "We got nerfed on this, so tit for tat fellas, time for the other side to get a nerf" is stupid.

Also while again, I'm happy for balance changes for both sides, and if the devs decided to nerf things like DS or DH i wouldn't complain, I would like to point out that just because its harder to deal with survivors who know the game or have coms, doesn't mean its impossible, plenty have done it.

There is a learning curve and everyone has to climb it, instead i see too many people hit that curve and people from both sides scream for the other side to be handicapped a little more, rather than using their time to beat that curve.

  • I now flat out refuse to chase people halfway across the map just to heal them. Yes I will wander a little way away from the hook if the killer is close enough that even my 'we'll make it' won't heal your butt fast enough. But if someone legs it half the length of the map, I'm not wasting precious seconds chasing them.

Do you guys have any tome challenges that require unsafe hooks right now?

I haven't looked all the way through the tome so no idea, though I highly doubt it.

  • No.

If the survivors keep swarming hooks while you haven't even moved 2 feet away, then they are fair game. We've asked for a 'kick in the face' option for these types of players because it is stupidly frustrating to see them do the lemming dance while I'm hanging up there and i feel no sympathy if they get downed in the pursuit of stupid plays.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/186225/survivor-mains-what-do-you-find-fun-about-playing-survivor

I’m not a survivor main but one way to have fun is to play matches with a certain goal in mind. Sometimes I play the Dwight Knight - as Dwight I have to save the girls on my team at all costs, even if I die in the process. So I run altruism perks and will go down blocking hits or trying to get flashlight saves, and so on. I don’t throw the match or anything but I will sacrifice myself. Running meme builds can be fun (pebble is a good one), or just trying to pull off silly plays.

Ooo i do this on occasions. My favorite is 'Busty Santa'

Jane all decked out in chest grabbing perks, then amid doing gens and whatnot, i leave the other survivors cool presents. Livens up those days where i spend most of my time running after injured players with a procced We'll make it, slowly going to waste.

I've been encountering it a lot. They've even hook-swarmed against my Bubba as soon as I've hooked someone.

These are all crossplay, so could be consoles or could be Window Store combination, but all green and purple ranked survivors.

I might hazard a guess that its all just points farming, but even that would be a silly reason. I get way more points for a safe unhook than i would on a kamakazi hook run.

Some might be trying to emulate some streamer or other...though you would imagine after the 50th time it hasn't worked, they would learn.

Whatever it is, no wonder half the killers I encounter don't bother leaving the hook these days, why bother when the meat will throw itself at the mincing machine?

  • @Kilmeran said:

And is it me, or has that gotten a heck of a lot more common lately?

Back in my ps4 days it happened in waves, but it happened a lot.

I only got it on pc a couple weeks ago so i'd have to get out of low ranks (i only play here and there atm) before i could answer that properly. Low ranks is where i expect it to happen but i've seen the same awful scenario happen in red ranks too and its mind boggling.

  • Honestly? It's the narrow misses.

I run a build that is altruism based, but not moronic altruism.

I run perks that help me avoid the killers path because i suuuuuuck at chases, but I'm pretty damn good about getting people unhoooked and healed within record time, safely, and without the use of BT.

I love those moments when you are but a killers head turn from being discovered. I don't go into a game thinking me escaping = win. I see myself as a mobile ambulance, and its my job to get as many out as possible, even if you are trying to help lemmings.

Occasionally I'll throw on a locker build with quick and quiet, just for that confused few seconds of the killer trying to figure out where I've gone.

My way of playing may not be as interesting for those that enjoy the chase more, and that's totally cool. But if you like to play stealthy and actually like to be useful, the ambulance build has a lot of utility.

It is possible to express an opinion without all the edgy insults. Of course I'm sure you are a pro the minute you start up any game ever made right? I mean that's the only legitimate reason you have to make a statement like that.

  • I feel your pain, and I'm on the survivor side. I frequently run Kindred and to be honest its depressing to see 2 or 3 people circling a hook like vultures to swoop in the second your back is turned.

At that point, i simply sigh at my 'we'll make it' perk and carry on doing the gen, because i may as well get some points before the inevitable one hook, two slugged debacle...

it does punish killers survivors can just by pass it by killing them self on hook does nothing to them.

Except DCing isn't exclusive to killers. If anything, in all my time playing , survivors DC a whole lot more than killers do. Most killer DC's i see are when all 5 gens are done. Most survivor DC's are when they decide they don't like the map or get downed first. As far as hook suicides go, I'd be happy for killers to have a way to give up too. But we're not talking about suicides here, we're talking about DC's only punishing killers, which they don't. Anyone who dc's gets the penalty.

  • I'll happily sacrifice myself to a 5 min ban for the occasional disconnect, rather than having 8 out of 10 games ruined because someone didn't like something about the match.

It happens to survivors too, its not about 'punishing killers', it's an automated system, it doesn't have a bias....unless skynet is finally here...

  • At the end of the day play how you like and ignore all the whining. Because all through my time here on the forums i have seen people complain about every aspect of what the other side uses, then these same people announce "Play how you like, its not your job to make things fun for the other side" when discussing their own side.

It's all double standards and backpedaling and at the end of the day, the only people who can disallow a game mechanic, is the devs.

  • Sadly i can't post a pic, i've migrated from ps4 to pc recently and have to earn all my cosmetics back (sadface)

I tend to go understated with colors (not invisible, trust me killers find me just fine)

Hair doesn't matter much since....yeah she needs better hair. But i like the Biker jacket and Baggy denim pants combo, from different outfits but they work really well together.

  • I suspect they will keep trying as long as people keep DCing for the myriad of excuses that seem to grow every day.

  • @Buttercake said:

But if someone's playstyle is to camp and tunnel. Eventually they are gonna have a same player again. It doesn't mean They are targeting you as a human being.

They would literally have to camp and tunnel the 1 person the whole game and then not do anything else to other survivors for several games, to even consider they are griefings player.

How often has anyone seen someone facecamp\tunnel the one player and cease to do anything else after they have died? I've only seen it twice.

But that's the point, it is rare because we aren't talking about someone who's play style is camping and tunneling. The 'griefing' model of this strategy is someone who goes out of their way game after game to ignore all other players in order to find, tunnel and camp the person to death. Nobody is saying everyone who camps and tunnels should be banned for griefing.

The few players who may have earned this ban are the kind who will refresh lobbies till they are in the one containing the player they have a beef with, will throw their games (because face camping one victim at the expense of all the others isn't profitable) and do it over and over again. That is what people mean by griefing. Not camping and tunneling itself. I've seen it done by a streamer I won't mention.

Now i will say, chances are, that the person who made the inquiry may have just had the bad luck of bumping into the same killer with a camping / tunneling strategy, and that's for the devs to decide. Since someone actually being banned for camping and tunneling would be raged about on the forums, I'd say its pretty rare the devs agree with most complaints. Certainly not without proof of actual griefing.

  • Ignoring the actual explanation in favor of fueling outrage...seems about right these days

  • The infinite Tier 3 Myers with an ebony Mori that i had in both my first and second games ever on PC. I'm not bitter....I look good in red...

  • I mean...its better than the "Usual DS,BT,DH" build isn't it?

Whats the point of crying out for variety if you're going to complain about someone trying something different?

  • Slug away, that's your choice and I accept it. Just don't be surprised if i crawl away halfway across the map. I've actually gotten hatch escapes that way. Alternatively i'll lead you as far away from the other players as possible so you can either chase me in the hopes im ratting out a player and waste your time, risk carrying me around in the hopes you'll find the hatch and then hook me with it in sight, or hook and camp me and i'll either hang around for you to waste more time, or just let myself go to the entity depending on whether i believe the other guy found the hatch (and no I'm not complaining about killers camping a 3rd hook guy, it makes sense in some circumstances.) Alternatively you can just hook me and risk walking away whereupon i might potentially be saved if the survivor is altruistic.

You have your strategies, survivors have theirs and everyone uses them in different ways with different scenarios. You aren't going to 'save the survivors' a boring time by not having hook suicides, and you have no control over what survivors do in those scenarios, just as they have no control over what you do.

Just play the game. So tired of people fussing over every single aspect of the other sides play style. Just work on your own and deal with what comes, because the reality of the situation is that this is the ONLY choice you have.

  • This community is hilarious.

Not satisfied with all out Killer V's survivors war, we now have PC players V's Console.

    Humble them?

    For what?

For not being able to afford a PC or perhaps not having the money to buy another full set of DLC? Because those are the only reasons people weren't playing in the 'real world' before cross play came into play.

Players adapt to their medium and you want to 'humble' people because they got halfway decent on the platform they had at the time? Oh and i see below you have DECIDED that anybody who turns off crossplay because of FPS issues is lying and just wants easy games?

Wheres your proof? You have the gall to make the statement, so wheres the proof. Not rumor, not your say so, where is the concrete proof that the many, many people who have complained of fps issues and longer que times, are lying? Are the PC killers who have reported how janky console survivors look in their games lying too?

Not trying to say you're wrong but as OP had said many SWF console players didn't care if the console killer could play at all. Even if they did they best with the low FPS they would still bother him and sending a message "LOL, noob. Baby killer" and etcetera. I am not saying every player is a salty one but I do believe it's justice when they did as they pleased on console and now as PC are "better" than them they opt to DC due to how "unfair" It is. Now they didn't care how unfair it was on a console nurse, as an example with the click click and stuff and their toxic behaviour.

I believe most people learn that two wrongs don't make a right round about the time they left school if not before.

I'm sorry but nothing excuses the attitude in the original post and the ones that follow it up with the 'Hell Yeah!' Attitude.

Should I go onto my game system and start sending killers sexual assault threats, wishes for cancer and their mother dying, because the killers who used to routinely send that to me, a player who never used a meta perk or BM'd a killer, didn't seem to care that it might make my gaming experience less fun?

There is no 'justice' because you have no idea if the player who's life you are making miserable, actually in any way deserves it. So i mean....justify it however you like if it makes you more comfortable, i can't control your actions, but you'll never convince me there is any justice to this childish behavior, and that goes for survivors who taunt their opponents too.

  • Are we supposed to gasp and applaud your massive gamer bulge or something?

You know that not all survivors are in any way, shape or form toxic, right?

Your post makes you seem like the type of PC elitist that the average console casual (like myself) bring up whenever we share issues with PC gaming.

By all means, go and destroy TOXIC console players, or just toxic players in general, but most of us are here for fun. If we don't annoy you, don't grief us.

But....but....whats the point of having a massive, superior E-Peen if they can't swing it around???!!

    Oh the humanity!

But seriously as i mentioned before, this is just a good way to chase away the console players that do want to try out cross play. Because the message im seeing in this post is.

"Lets put those console survivors in their place. Who cares if they are really toxic, we have to show our massive PC boners of eliteness so that they know whats what and....wait...where are you all going?!"

Really hope they can get PS/Xbox saves in too. I want so bad to migrate to PC full time but I don't want to lose 3 years of progress. I just can't justify starting over without all the stuff I've earned and bought.

    Right there with you dude.

  • So let me get this right. You get cross play, which increases que times and might improve things a bit, and your first response is to purposly rally people to go out and teach people a lesson for daring to make the best of the platform they are on.

To directly quote you on another thread.....

"the things we were talking about was about the pc killer mains making console survivors miserable"

A good portion of console players are opting out due to FPS issues. Keep up this kind of attitude and the players that have decided to stick it out will just not bother. And I'm not talking about you winning or knowing you have an advantage, I'm talking about the general attitude. Because nothing will make console players feel unwelcome more than crap like this thread, making the opt-out button far more desirable.

  • Is there really any need for people to be insulting this guy for asking a simple question?

It is entirely plausible that someone has come back to the game and might find some things have changed or discover something they didn't notice the first time round.

Geez, the desire to be d**ks to each other on this forum is astounding, people find the most absurd reasons to belittle someone, are egos that fragile that they need this constant upkeep of bringing someone down for no good reason?

  • I mean, as long as they added an opt out option I'd be fine with it. I honestly have no desire to listen to NoobSmasher56 berate the whole team because they got downed in 5 seconds, but as long as i had that magical button I wouldn't really care if they implemented it.

ATM the way they are going. Breaks for people will be permanent. Hence why they need to stop and get their act together.

Hag is cool. I love piggy best though - I have to admit that roar is so lovely!

I love it when I epic fail. Oh the laughs I have - hopefully others do too. LOL

It's never been about the winning for me, always the laughs. I'll enjoy a match more for the moments that made me laugh so hard i miss a skill check or run into a wall, than i ever will getting that perfect 4k or 4 man escape.

    Shineyyyy :-)

Hold out hope. They'll get slapped in the head with a wet fish if they keep going this route. That much should also be painfully obvious to them.

Things can fall as quickly as they rise.

I really hope that's not going to be the case here though.

Love the people here and the game can be very good.

I hold out the same hope. I've met some stunningly mad friends on DBD and have had too many hilarious games to want to see it fail in some vindictive manner just because the game isn't working for me right now.
