I never said killers never do it. I love how ppl put words in my mouth.
When killers do say things, it's usually after he got bullied by toxic survivors.
"Killers don't message u and say nasty things whether they win or lose."
Nope, i took the words from your post. If you meant something different, that's hardly on me.
-
As conspiracy theories go, at least this one is better than "Reeeee Devs Bias!"
Still ridiculous, but at least amusing.

Everyone who knows what's going on, knows survivors are more toxic.
It's a fact.
when Ppl turn off communication from other ppl, they're actually turning it off becuz they don't want to hear it from survivors.
Killers don't message u and say nasty things whether they win or lose.
Survivors has ALOT to say. Whether they win or lose.
Even if the survivor does something stupid, killers are to blame.
Than they come to dbd forums to guilt trip the killer to play in a certain way.
I read the same complaint about the same exact thing, another survivor posted about few post down.
Not all survivors, but generally speaking, survivors tend to be entitled raging gamers. At least more so than killers.
While i do agree that you will receive more toxicity from survivors given that its a 4 to 1 chance and group mentality makes these idiots brave enough to do it. The statement that killers do not message you in order to spout toxicity is untrue. It occurs less often and doesn't excuse survivors doing it and vice versa, but it DOES happen.

.... shouldn't matter! I have seen so many posts about 'toxic' players and such, but I really think it's okay to play your way. I personally dislike being camped, tunneled, gen rushed, and flashlight spammed, but at the end of the day it's just a video game. You are 10000000% allowed to dislike something, I just think it's wrong to call people toxic or bully them. Debating is always great since some people are able to come to an agreement or even switch positions, but saying stuff like 'stop being so soft' or 'that's a toxic thing to do' isn't fair. As long as you are respectful and play well, I'll be happy. Yeah, I can depip and not have fun, but it beats arguing with someone over virtual murder lol! I guess what I want this post to be about is being kind and enjoying dbd for what it is: A game! You can urban evade if it works for you as long as you're being a good teammate, you can use DS, you can pack a mori, and, most of all, you can play your way!! I love playing competitively, but I think that competition and rage are very different from one another-- You won't always win, and being angry won't change that. I have gotten upset over matches, but all you can do is move on and hope for the best. So, get out there and have fun :)!!
Also, I don't mean for this post to be 'humble af' or anything of that nature, I genuinely love this game and the community, I have just seen a lot of 'so and so is toxic!' or 'this perk is bad and u suck!' kind of stuff, which I just find to be counterproductive, haha!
I've been saying this for so long now, I could say it in my sleep. You can pick any perk, power, addon or item in this game and someone, somewhere, will find a way to call it toxic. I'm a 'roll with the punches' kind of gal, I play around whats in front of me at the time, and if I don't succeed, well then I was outplayed. I'm pushing 40, I don't feel the need to cry "Unfair", because someone used effective tactics against me. However it's utterly mind numbing to watch a good majority of players do exactly that. If its within the games rules, not an exploit and you're not being a righteous butt hole in end game chat, it's not toxic, it's using the tools given to you. I'm far too casual a player to bother seeking out blame if i lose, and I'm flat out tired of both sides smacking each other about the head like a three stooges episode, with their ridiculous 'rule books' of sportsmanship. Killers kill, survivors survive, and both can and SHOULD use every means at their disposal to do so. All I ever expect from anyone in a game, is to act like an adult and not vent their frustrations at people who often have no real ill intentions, in the after game chat. Learn from mistakes, don't seek to pin the blame button on anything found remotely challenging.
-
If you want to meme or 'chill' your way through a game, that is absolutely fine. Want to do the conga instead of doing gens? Go ahead, I've done it a few times myself. Want to T-Bag the DC baby on the hook? Well they probably deserve it.
However. No killer, or indeed survivor, is then obligated to play your way. If you want to have those kind of games, you are of course welcome to, but don't expect everybody to want to play that way, and understand that they have every right to simply play the game as intended and move on to the next trial. The whole 'why tryhard' question is pointless, when the answer is usually no more complex than 'because they want to'. You made it easy for them to down you and so they did.
I know that every time i try to boop the piggies snoot, or T-bag stand off with ghostface, or play duck hunt with the slinger, that i run the risk of that player not being in the mood or mindset to meme around with me, and my actions might well result in my butt being spanked because i made myself an easy target, and that's okay. Sometimes it pays off and we all have a laugh, sometimes people just want to play the game and move on.
To sum up, it's not a bad thing to play casually or just spend your time memeing around, no matter what side you are playing. But you can't really expect the other side or indeed your fellow survivors, to follow suit if they don't feel like it.
-
Quite frankly, the sooner people learn not to give a cats fart in a tin whistle about what other people think, the happier you will be. Turn off the chat if you are easily tilted by someone else getting offended over your loadout and play whatever the heck you want. Who cares if either side thinks your perks are a crutch? You are never going to argue your way into convincing them they aren't so why be bothered? Perks aren't there for us to nervously wring our hands over because we might make someone mad. Same for addons, powers and items.
If you want to play polite and not use powerful addons / perks / items / tactics, go ahead, its your game time at the end of the day, and the same applies if you want to play sweaty as Hulk Hogans gym shorts.
If you have an issue with something in the game, the Devs are the ones to look to, otherwise, posts complaining about perks just inevitably fall down the usual toilet of discussing which side is 'worse' for literally using the games utilities as they are presented to us.
-
When you think you're clever by throwing a pebble, only to turn and see the killer, who has just watched you throw it, shaking his head at you.
Playing as pig and sneaking up to a generator someone is working on, hiding on the other side and sloooooowly peeking around it. You can almost hear the moment where the survivor fills their pants.
The horrifying yet hilarious sight of a ghost face teabag chasing you
When you run giggle screaming out of building because you just ran into an insidious Bubba
Anytime a killer rushes forward, only to fall down a hole.
Those near misses when a killer SHOULD have absolutely seen you and doesn't, and you just sit there nervously giggling in the corner.
Huntress' little tantrum and Piggy's adorable squeak when you stun them.
-
My perks and gameplay style are literally built for safe unhooks and quick healing, however I don't tend to run BT as i choose not to unhook in the killers face unless we have someone hooked during the end game timer. I use Kindred, so if i see someone being faced camped, no im not going to run in for the rescue, however if the killer isn't camping then sure, i'll utilize my build to get them quickly and safely back in the game, the mori isn't really a factor for me.
-
You know, after being on these forums for some time now, I can tell you two things from all the posts made here multiple times...
People complain when survivors loop
People complain when survivors stealth
We get told "Looping takes no skill, it's just braindead and exploiting an unintended mechanic"
Then from the other side "Immersive is boring, why are you crouch walking / hiding in a bush, you're not even interacting with the killer, dbd is about the chases"
I'm not saying there aren't points to be made, but it seems to me survivors are caught both coming and going at this point. Some of the ideas here ARE valid, even if i think that both styles of play have merit. But the problem is, even if things were changed up so stealth became more common, I can guarantee survivors would be getting flak for playing "Immersed" and "Boring".
-
Just spit balling here, I'm not very good at taking all the mechanics into account so feel free to point out the errors of this idea. But could the survivor gain an exposed status effect after not removing victor after a certain amount of time? It's needn't be a long expose time, but just enough to incentivise getting rid of him asap, knowing Charlotte is coming?
-
I'm kinda 'meh', on the whole situation to be perfectly honest.
I'm not anxious to see an LGBTQ+ character in the game, nor would I be bothered if one was added, its one of those 'not really important' subjects to me as an individual, but i can still recognize how important it could be to others, so I don't see the harm.
If they do craft this character/s, then i would hope it would be something beyond stereotypical, with some real thought behind it, other than that i have no opinion other than some people just need to chill a little with being quick to be utterly defensive on both sides. I don't feel I need representation in this game as a Bi woman, and no, i don't really understand why orientation is important in this kind of game, like a few of your here. However i am empathetic enough to understand that it IS important to some people, and their desire to have such a character has no real impact on me or my gameplay.
In my personal headcannon, Jane loves EVERYBODY ;) . That's why I run an ambulance build, so she can get you all off hooks and run away to secluded corners to rub you back to health!
-
I don't really play him very often at all, but it always bugged me that Trapper can step in his own traps. On one hand i guess it pushes for realism, on the other hand...i find it kind of silly that he wouldn't know to step over a trap he just place.
Would love to see at least an addon that would allow him to avoid his own traps in a chase perhaps?
Probably some logistics im not thinking of here, perhaps its just easier code wise, to keep the script for trap interactions the same for killer and survivor, i don't really know, i admit i am not computer smart beyond pressing the power button :p. I just always feel sorry for the poor guy, especially when he does it while carrying a survivor. :(

Hear me out. I know people find the term genrush as a meme or not a thing but when I chase one person and 3 gens fly, I think that's genrushing.
But why do it? Yeah you escape and do all your objectives but dang, me as a killer, I barely got to play. All genrushing does is get you out the game faster. Why even play at that point?
Because it's not up to the survivor to slow down the game. That's your job.
-
I guess I land in the minority. I don't find her any more difficult to evade than most killers. Sometimes an extremely good spirit player will stomp me, but most of the time I find the results either pretty even (2 or 3k to the killer) or a majority escape.
So i don't really have a beef with her to be honest. But everyone's experience is individual i guess.

Selective 'concern' at its finest.
-
Oh good grief. These kinds of posts are becoming so formulaic it's gotten past the point of embarrassing anymore.
Also the irony between the post title and actual post.....
-
A new chapter reveal / PTB is simply not complete until several people have declared that the DBD sky is falling because of reasons a through z. At the end of the day i reserve judgment until its been tested, perhaps adjusted and then put into play. 9 times out of 10 most of the complaints end up being about very niche situations that turn out not to be half as concerning as people think.

As a killer, if I smack a generator or a hex totem it's clearly an indication that these things are up for grabs and I'm wanting us to farm blood points. It's even worse when survivors pretend to go along with it, only to teabag and exit gate or hatch. Not dropping their item at the end is just icing on the cake, no matter if it's a brown or purple item with addons. As the killer, I gave up hooks/sacrifices. The least you survivors could do is drop an item as a sign of respect.
You draw the line at dropping items? I always give the killer the last kill in a farming situation, only seems fair...
-
Yes and no.
I honestly don't care about anyone's opinions on perks, unless they intend on paying my dlc fee, its nobodies business, made up rules or not.
That being said, i don't purchase characters that don't have perks that interest me or i don't like the look of. For instance, while the above statement stands, im not a heavy chase orientated survivor, so things like DS or dead hard don't interest me, so I don't have Laurie. I am not a fan of how david looks, but WGLF is nice to slap on the end of a build now and then. Its generally a case of, will I utilize their perks , or do i love their look (Jane, Cheryl's nurse lisa)

We are definitely on the same boat there, it would be my last straw if they decided to do that. I'm glad the people coming to this post don't want them in game so I can kind of put my point across better knowing people are agreeing that it's wrong.
I have seen it here a small handful of times, but they usually don't reply when someone asks why.
At the end of the day all you can do is try and be respectful of someones opinion, which is possible to do without compromising your own stance on things. For me, like i said, I do a lot of true crime research, and the mindest of these people are alien to me, hence the fascination, because deep down we all hope to find reason in what we consider complete madness. So i have a full scope of what these people have done and eventually came to the conclusion that time does not really change the horror of what was done, therefore I wouldn't enjoy seeing them marketed in a video game, because it stops being fun when you know how people suffered irl.
Now I highly doubt BHVR will ever cross this line, it has too many potential pitfalls. But if they ever did I would just walk away with no fanfare or rage. I can't change peoples minds on such a subject, but I wouldn't compromise my own stance for something as frivolous as a video game.

Were serial killers ever really wanted?
In all the years I watching those forums by now, I can't remember seeing much threads about them. Not even a handful in this time...
I personally would not like to see them. I sometimes like watching documentaries about them, but thats it. Wouldn't like to be one. Also I think that would give those more attention as they already have and that is imo not a good thing.
There have been posts here. They are pretty spaced out as majority opinion tends to be 'no thanks' but they do appear from time to time.
Personally it would be a final straw for me and i'd simply quietly uninstall. I get the appeal, i really do. I love true crime stories because the psychology always fascinated me, but i don't really have any desire to see them in the game. I wouldn't shout about it though, everyone has differing opinions and occasionally those who are for it, do come up with interesting and sometimes compelling points, it's just not for me and i'd be somewhat disappointed if the company stooped to this.
-
Yeah sorry, not going to lay there right where the killer dropped me because someone else thinks its more efficient. It does not take long to crawl at least out of sight and then recover if said killer is distracted. If the killer has legged it after someone else then fine, i recover rather than hide. But if they are close enough to still see me, im going to make it at least somewhat difficult for them to simply waltz back to me and pick me up again.
Everyone has their own playstyle and while you can give advice, its up to an individual player as to how they play. I survive a lot more by crawling away than I do simply laying there.

I think that's the point though dude. You pretty much answered your own question there. Differing personalities will have different responses to toxicity. Some people find it to be the icing on the cake, others don't and simply wont embrace it.
-
Nah, i can live without it. I don't need to butt dance at the exit gates and i don't need to hit people on hook. I certainly don't need to be racist/sexist or just plain nasty to my opponents in endgame chat which is what i consider to be 'true toxicity'
Each to their own at the end of the day.

Initially, I was pleased with the updated NOLB. It was leaps and bounds better than what it used to be.
Still though, it simply doesn’t provide enough for the one period of the game it’s active. Particularly now that Desperate Measures is in the game, providing a benefit all match round (when needed). It’s been fun experimenting Desperate Measures + NOLB for super fast endgame hook rescues, but in truth it’s still so rare that unhooks are required AFTER a gate is open, that NOLB is not worth the perk slot.
Why can’t it activate upon the exit gates being POWERED, not opened?
If they’re stringent on sticking with the “once one gate is open” caveat, it really needs to be way stronger than it currently is.
- constantly see the killers aura in conjunction with seeing the survivors auras?
- Up the altruism action speed to 100%?
- Gain endurance so that you can take a protection hit for others if you’re injured?
Currently, of all the endgame perks, NOLB is the weakest. It’s also one of the weakest perks period! At least Hope, Adrenaline, or Wake Up can still be helpful to the last survivor left alive if the killer closes the hatch.
I mean while people are calling for perk variance, it's not an unreasonable request to add something to the more niche perks.
-
Had a very close game with a Bubba. This guy was pretty damn good, made us work for every second , had hooked the others at least twice each. He did all of this without camping or tunneling, he was a freaking surgeon with that chainsaw. My build is specifically for safe rescue and quick healing, he just never seemed to see me, or got distracted by my team mates. In the end he downs two just as the gens are done. I am finally downed JUST as the gate im on opens and of course i go on hook.
Now at this point the remaining Jake has the other gate open, he's free and clear. But bless him, he wasn't going to let me go on my first hook without a fight. He tried three times to get to me, and was chased off each time. Eventually i had mere seconds before i was going to hit struggle phase and i wanted the jake to at least make it out, he'd tried and was still try it. So i figured I'd just die on hook by trying to unhook myself and jake would finally get out the gate.
I kobe'd. It was my very first real kobe after months of playing. I was so surprised i actually stood there for a couple of seconds thinking...#########?
Right up until i heard the distant sound of an approaching chainsaw, only then did i think to start running to the gate. I swear i felt the wind of that saw whiffle the hairs on the back of my neck as i made it out the gate.
-
Seriously, were we really THAT hard up for survivor conspiracy theories?
-
How is it the killers fault if they manage to get 4 people slugged? I agree that slugging and just letting all 4 bleed out is a bit of a d**k move, but I don't understand your reasoning at all when it comes to the killer getting multiple slugs. It also hugely depends on the scenario at hand too. If you are all crowding the hook and the killer gets you all, that's on you and the rest of your team, it's a risk you take when being that bold. If the killer is slugging and camping the body, why are you falling for it? If the killer is slugging and not camping the body, why aren't the survivors getting their team members up?
Unless you are all grouped together, which is highly inadvisable, it should be extremely hard for the killer to slug all of you and keep you slugged. Even insta down killers still have to exert a certain amount of skill to get and KEEP that many slugs without having to play whack-a-mole.
Now i admit, there may be a scenario that i'm missing, and if there is, i ask with 0 sarcasm what it might be. But under most circumstances, most teams should be able to combat a total team slug wipeout. I certainly have only seen a few times where this has happened in the years i have been playing the game.
-
I don't expect killers to play anything but their best, and if that includes camping tunneling or any form of perk combination / addons, so be it. Sure, it might not be my greatest match if i get a stridor mori spirit, but hey, you win some you lose some and I don't expect ANY killer to hamstring themselves just in case someone might have their feelings hurt.
Game utilities are not created for us to wring our hands over because someone might not like the particular set up, and made up rules of conduct are indeed...made up. You can take someone else using something you don't like personally of course, that's your prerogative, but that's where it stops. Making a big deal of "If my opposing side doesn't want me to do this, then why do they do this thing I don't like" is pointless. Use what the heck you like and simply accept that the other side are at liberty to do the same.
Similarly, while I don't use what people irritatingly call "Crutch perks" because i have a playstyle that doesn't involve them, I'm not going to handicap myself because a certain killer might think my perks or playstyle is unfair. If you are not on my ass, I WILL do gens and totems as quickly as I can. If i hear you coming, I am going to hide, and if we have the gates open and there is someone on the hook, i will likely aid in rescue if i think its a sensible option. Just as i would expect and accept you camping someone on the hook at end gate. And if you should manage to slug and hook the whole team for being overly altruistic...so be it, it was our risky play and you got us for it.
This trend of made up rules is almost impossible to follow and changes from day to day. I honestly got flak once for using we'll make it and Botany because it happens to be a very good combo for safe hook saves and quick healing.
-
As a survivor, a good 8 if i stick to my role of safe rescue, fast healing, decent gen management (knowing how to break up the gen pattern so as not to get 3 genned is something a lot of survivors miss) and bones. When it comes to chases it drops a bit to 6 because sometimes i have amazing chases and other times i get all anxious and turn potato.
As a killer, i'll be generous and say 6. I rarely have matches where i barely get to hook anyone, and i play hag well without putting a buttload of traps under the hook, but again, i get easily anxious and sometimes playing killer can feel like trying to plug 8 leaks with only 4 limbs.

Pretty much a well known unwritten rule at this point, but if you’re the LAST survivor alive, stop struggling so we can carry you to hatch!
From now on, just a fair heads up, if you struggle now I’m letting you bleed out to death.
I mean I don't tend to struggle on principle if im the last person. If you have me bang to rights with no real means of escape on my end (i don't use DS) then at that point its job done, and lets get on with the next match. I do get quite a few hatch gifts but i can understand why some do struggle. Those few extra points do build up.
I won't go for the hatch if im not dropped right on top of it, too many hatch closes in the face, but most who are genuine get the message and drop me on top of it, or i just do a wee spin dance for them till the entity gives me a spiky hug.

-
Because twiddling my thumbs until my opponent feels its 'fair' for me to touch a gen isn't in my role description?
-
I could go into a detailed analysis of why i agree with this dude, but it's just easier to simply state; He is not wrong, on any of his points.
-
Its actually quite depressing to witness, and why i take so many breaks from the forum in general.
There are only a small portion of posts that try to look at balance from a perspective of both sides, but eventually these too get overrun with accusations and sweeping generalizations about both sides. Add in the 'Dev Bias' conspiracies that change every week from side to side and it almost seems like people are trying to make the forums an extension of the game, where you win if you get the last word.
Balance must always be discussed with both sides in mind, instead of turning every idea into one that only benefits one half of the game, while simultaneously trying to stick it to the opposing side. Half of said arguments are in themselves, quite biased, hypocritical and disingenuous.
It's quite embarrassing to watch sometimes, and while I do believe that BHVR have some shaping up to do in regards to game health and yes, even balance, I can also see why some ideas or complaints aren't taken seriously, when a large majority just want to beat each other over the head with their own opinions.
-
Use your knowledge as a survivor. This is one of the best pieces of advice i was given when i started to learn how to play killer, and it can be invaluable if you don't let the early game frustration get to you. If you have spent enough time playing as a survivor, you already know most of the areas a survivor will hide in if they hear the killer coming or lose you at a chase, It isn't 100% infallible and I'm not saying just play a guessing game using your survivor knowledge, but if you add what you know as a survivor, to the tools you are using as a killer, it's surprisingly effective.
As for hag. Some will say to use a camping strategy which...i guess works sometimes but not always. The trick here is again, use your survivor knowledge. Got a guy hooked? Yeah okay you could trap under the hook and waste their time, but you could also trap their exit routes. Ask yourself where you would run to when you thought you had reached outside of the 'trap zone' after a rescue. Most people playing against a hag will assume you trapped the hook anyway and crouch and if they don't crouch, their just going to run to a safe spot, which suddenly isn't safe anymore.
Use her addons wisely. I'm terrible at remembering the name for addons, but there is one that allows you to draw traps faster. Now some might find this useless, but if you're in a never ending loop, quickly place a trap and they will either run into it, or run away from the loop. You can also fake draw too. Quite a few times players have seen my Twiglet bend down and have legged it before the trap can even be placed.
If you can herd the survivors into a 3 Gen with hag....that's an ouchie situation for them.
You don't have to camp as hag. Sure it might be an easier strategy, but its pretty agreed upon that this is an unfun match all around and it isn't necessary to secure a win.
I admit i haven't played killer in a good while so i can barely remember the perks i used on her, but Monitor and Abuse was always a firm favorite. There are much better hag players than me out there, but using the above strategies, i found i came out on top more than i lost.
Another tip, if you have a group of friends, spend some time in KYF with them. It's a low pressure way to test your skills with none of the toxicity or frustration you might get when playing against nameless avatars.
Hope something in this babble is remotely useful to you.
-
Yes. Because if you pick killer, you are knowingly choosing the harder role. If anyone chose killer and expected it to be the easier role in a 4 v 1 game.....
That isn't to say there aren't balance issues. There are. But even if you fixed every single one, you are still playing a game against 4 other people. I prefer simple logic to conspiracy theories.

My correction your argument is sound. Throughout this tread i have been called ignorant and naive and slightly insulted because i refuse to believe this game will fold if the swf change happened. The ebb and flow of new players with new content only lasts for so long. Calling me thin skinned is insulting because i see your points but refuse to be swayed from the idea that the game would die off Or killers would rein supreme if the option was implemented. Granted some perk changes could help. If not the swf option then what suggestion would help balance the toxic levels in the game?
Honestly?
This game has changed from what the devs originally envisioned. Some allowances have been made and while some have been good for the game, others have tipped the balance, and some things cannot be removed or the balance gets tipped even further and the whole thing collapses. Personally, and this is from a standpoint of someone who admittedly couldn't tell you how much work this requires, i think the whole thing should be rebuilt from the ground up.
Instead of splitting up the player base and crossing fingers that the game doesn't die out from lack of a multiplayer option, because i'm sorry but its very evident from countless posts about SWF, very few killers would choose the SWF option, incorporate swf properly, balance it properly, allow multi killer matches where the other side can also have the advantage of comms. Use what has been proven successful and adjust what is causing the most arguments between killer and survivor. At the end of the day its very hard to satisfy everyone, but slapping on a patch by splitting your player base to keep one side happy, is only going to work for a short while before half the games population head off for a game they can play together without having to wait christ knows how long to get in a match.
This probably isn't the answer that you want, but its the most honest answer I can give.
As for calling you thin skinned, I believe my actual words indicated that i DONT believe you to be thin skinned enough to consider my words an insult. I try to be as objective as possible, and pointing out cold hard facts isn't insulting you. It's simply being realistic.

I will never forget the legion who was chasing a meg while i was on hook. Of course they straight up farmed me with the killer still on their butts and legged it the second my feet hit the ground. I just sorta stood there because the killer was now a gnats hair away from me and running was pointless. The Legion nodded at me, span around and went tearing after the meg.
At the end of the day, no killer is obligated not to take the easy win, but its always memorable and highly appreciated when they do.

Naive, willfully ignorant, not wanted on forums. Because i believe this game should options. This is my last post on this tread. Insulting someone for have a different view then your own is the behaviour i am trying to tone down in this game. Wishing you all a good week.
Actually no. Nowhere on my post implies you arent wanted on the forums because you believe in options.
All i have done is use your own arguments to prove that your particular solution to this problem is flawed. If you want to make a difference, take your idea back to the drawing board and try again, and no im not being sarcastic. I'm all for change in the game, and calling you naive because you seem to be willfilly ignoring that group play is a large part of the game and the game itself would be negatively affected by a player base split, is not insulting you or telling you to get off the forums. It's asking you to recognize that you might have to rethink your position.
If you want to pretend the mildest of perceived flaws in your theory and character as so offensive as to chase you away that's fine. Personally, while i don't agree with you, i have seen you hold your own throughout this whole thread and don't believe for a second you are quite that thin skinned.
