Here's another steam achievement that just blows my mind...
and now consider people seemed more inclined to play killers on pc judging by how mu survivor queues have been much longer on average ever since crossplay lol
my survivor queues on steam were* I hadn't played on psn until long after crossplay was out already so idk how they would have been there before

uhh no, I usually have to got o the very last or next to last to get it off after it's activated, that's long enough as it's wasted minutes just to stay alive already. If you make it too annoying all you're gonna get are people seeing it as tedious as the ultra slow killer loadouts and dropping out if you keep them removing active traps more than they even get to tap a generator. You won't be getting hook points as often if they dc once they realize they've spent the past 5 minutes running around trying to get beeping traps off before their head explodes. That's gonna be pretty boring for you too once they see a match like that coming and leave it rather than sit through the tediousness of it. You might get lobbies fast but you don't wanna lose them fast either once it loads and they find out it's gonna be "one of those games"
You better consider letting one player a match "boop the snoot" and at least keep one friend lol. If they make the wrong changes to how her traps are handled it could be a justifiable gripe unlike ruin/undying, since ruin/undying falling prey tot hat is the survivor's fault but you can't ignore the beeping trap and learn to just finish a gen (unless one is already almost finished and you wanna tap it out first and have a feel for the trap timer obviously) or come back and not let it regress. If you ignore the trap you're dead and if the pig runs around after the wrong changes and decides to just keep everybody running to boxes all game they're just gonna start to dc. I can see somebody abusing that to make long drawn out games just to screw with people who already have long queues before they have a long boring game.
-
You can just doge and get another lobby in 3 seconds, it's not like killer has to wait ten minutes or more for another one lol

So after reading a post from @Dabihwow about the Clown and his personality it got me thinking, Despite Clown(Obvious Evil [BAD WORD]) just how many of the killers are willing to torture and kill, and which are hesitant.
The people I'm not sure about the most are Blight, Hag and Joey from the Legion
Game Time!
Pick any killers you'd like and say if you think they're "Innocent" or "Guilty" Innocent being for those that are being manipulated or "Forced" to kill. Guilty being those that enjoy it and love carrying out the dirty work. Try and give a reason why you believe so, Aim to come up with a unique one!
Feel free to use Perks/Cosmetics or even your own Detective's hunch(Wink) to draw your conclusion.
Example: Susie and Trapper may be considered "Innocent" by some as trapper was tortured in to killing by the entity and Susie by her best friends.
Deathslinger could be considered guilty for the facial hair alone, but also because his backstory reveals from a young age he had a dark mind, he was planning on inventibg a device that ripped eyes from they're sockets.
Maybe you see it from a different angle? Could everyone be innocent? Or Everyone be Guilty?
I know this is kind of a weird topic as some of these killers have already been revealed, but who knows maybe someone thinks otherwise... I think a good conversation may just spark somewhere! I look forward to hearing what you guys think

I play killer and i INSTANTLY get a game i try survivor and...... NOTHING. I'm getting pretty bored with this game as i am forced to simply play one side because i am stretched for time at night as i do work a full time job. All i want to do is enjoy both sides of the game and these queues are preventing that from happening.
Please tell me if i am the only one or if any of you are facing the same issues on American Servers.

But MMR is suppose to do this. If your better than the killer your level goes up which your chances of a better killer goes up.
in a game like this, either make it 4v4 or finally start buffing instea dof nerfing the killer if they're gonna do that, otherwise alot of people are gonna hate the mmr in the end when all of the matches on the lone side become nothing but sweat and not even the reasonable hope of some potatoes thrown at them here and there. I guarantee it'll wear some out to the point they won't come back eventually.

Wow I cannot possibly comprehend the seriousness of the situation. I wish we had evidence that the devs played their own game. Quick sidenote, in order for a dev team to release a patch they have to do something called "playtests". I don't know why I mention this at all, but in these playtests they have to try the new patch they made, themselves. But we have no evidence to support that, do we? Let's assume they use bots instead.
it does not mean every single one does it, it could turn out be a small handful that actually plays anything during 'testing' and most info they could wind up getting off of the public test server for all we know. Or most of them could be survivor mains, and the few that aren't, probably don't wanna get any schiff for bringing up issues to the rest. in 2021 I'd totally believe that

Yeah I normally don't get salty because you can just hop into a different game but it's just I went through all that waiting and loading to get a game with questionable survivors a good killer and a really unlucky and dissapointing situation
But yeah when I came back on just played some mk11 ykno, gotta love it.
I loved games like the old MK and other fighting games in my teens, I used to run Killer Instinct at the local arcade where I lived back then. I mastered many of it's guys, figured out their combos at home on the snes port, knew the ultimates and once in ablue moon loved slipping in the eyedol code since I figured out some busted juggles with him at home in training mode lol. Only one person I remember was able to consistently beat me if they used spinal of all the guys hahaha.
Arcades were a great social experience back then, I think part of the problem with modern online gaming is you aren't physically and more naturally interacting socially with the other players. To us we often reduce each other to bits on a computer (just seeing each other as 'smart' npcs), and you also lack the social consequences of being too douchey in the congested modern online environments. My first mmorpg had small servers where they were more like small towns (generally if it went too far over iirc 4k players at once the server could even have trouble sometimes in some highly populated zones), where you pretty much had at least passed by most other players at a social hub or seen them at a camp or knew somebody that knew somebody that knew them in game. So the social consequences could lead to somebody having to ditch a toon completely if they built a bad enough rep on it.
These days though, that's almost impossible as mainstream as these games are with their huge populations. You almost never see the same person twice any more unless you intend to. That lets the worst in us come out frequently. Even Pantheon Rise of the Fallen won't be able to really capture that small town feel on a server if it is too successful, that's more up tot he players themselves though it's target players are more than likely to sort that that out for themselves anyways.

The point of this post was just to see people's opinions about if it was REALLY necessary to go for all that effort of blocking me then waiting out BT, even though there is someone else also on death hook literally next to me.
I guess the player was just desperate to end the game quickly or somet idk, but you can't say you wouldn't get even a little bit salty in that scenario, including the bad teammates leaving you to die for ages.
And its not really his play that annoyed me the most its the fact I have to wait till the game is over 'not gonna tell my mate to DC' and then wait 10 minutes for another game because it was a slow queue at the time of playing.
So I just ended up turning off my xbox and accepting my quote 'if a game stops getting fun, stop playing it' :)
it's a smart move in the position for the killer to do what they did to you, but it's also as smart of a move in the position you were in if you weren't having fun to turn the game off and do something else which I've done plenty of times on this game. most times I fired up the past couple of months or so I've actually turned it back off and played something else either because of the queue or the quality of teammates.

If a team is capable to stealth that strong, than there is also some skill involved. Those won't probably not be on "newbie" levels of play, that means that their average would already start higher than that. Besides that play will lead in a rise in MMR for each survivor in the swf. Closing the gap to their higher ranked friend. So facing stronger killers, that won't fall for that.
One of my first 3 matches after returning to this game after almost 4 years, shortly after pyramidhead came out, I had 3 red ranks with a high teens in their group and they pulled every annoying trick in the book on me. 2 had fleshlights, they all body blocked so I had a hard time downing and would keep reviving each other so I had a hard time keeping more than one down at a time and it was annoying af. That was the exact third match in, after not playing for four years I wasn't even rank 18 yet at that time iirc. They abused the matchmaking by 3 main accounts and one smurf account is what I realized. They weren't even doing gens, they were solely set out to screw with me. Once they maxed their chase and co-op they finally started doing gens and I'd just left it sitting by that time no longer entertaining them. I dc at the last second as they were all running into an open gate since my recollection (after not playing for almost four years) was that i was going to screw them out of items, addons, and all those points they got in the match (lol).
The way they are going to handle mmr from what I read, is it is going to be just as easily exploited by swf and smurf accounts and so is therefore pointless for anybody except for solo survivors for mmr to even exist maybe. They need to mm based off of the highest skilled players in the groups, considering they already get free voip perks anyways with voip being the most busted perk in the entire game when used well. Killers will still put up with the same bs in the end anyways. Each night I played killer and at least 3 or 4 matches, I always ran into at least one match like this. There were a few bad nights where it happened many times in a row even and those were the times I called it a night or only played survivor the rest of the night. Unless they confirm swf will mm based on the highests killed player or two players in the group I will never play killer again,, ever. Unless it's afk of course.
Nothing else will ever change my mind about it and I will never pay for a dlc in money ever again, will only use sharts to get the survivor if I like the look or want their perks and will have no interest in future killers ever no matter what they are or what their perks do until swf is dealt with. If they start pumping out more licensed dlc if they notice enough people doing that to have an excuse to make you use money and buyt he kilelr just to get the survivor, I'll just ignore those survivors too is all if I'm still even playing any more by then. I already went 4 years without playing, and expected never to again until I heard about the vault bamboozle and removal of infinites, I could easily go back to not touching this game and considering it trash again. Especially since I seem to often enjoy the discussions around it more than the game itself.

If you think you "Only made one mistake" in a match, that's the exact reason why you're losing.

Dowsey literally got 100+ straight wins with the Twins.
The irony is they seem to 'balance' survivors based ont he lowest common denominator which allows some swf to abuse mechanics for their entertainment while they balance only the kilelrs based on what mostly some sweaty streamer can do with it is what it seems like sometimes. That's why it's easy to hold onto survivors or have people unwilling to try killer even with long survivor queues when they play.

Most of us know how to counter camping. Just do gens. But bad survivors dont know that. And bc they dont know that bad killer think camping is a good strategy and do it. Then they learn nothing and get demolished.
So is it possible to teach survivor to do gens?
Show gen auras when someone gets camped? Or a tutorial for camping?
Matchmaking is worse at the moment. And it hurts as a hag main when i see a rank 10 hag who chases without placing one trap. Hooks someone and uses 10 traps and her body to camp him. And gets a second down with noed and repeats camping. I needed to do 3 gens otherwise the hag would have gotten 4 kills with this playstyle.
don't worry, after a couple months of mmr if you get a bad killer you'll know it's because you're abad player since decent killers won't get to enjoy bad survivors any more.

I may have a different view on the actual state of the game but that I can totally get behind.
Some competition is needed and while I think they are doing a good job on healthy balance changes and additions there are also bad apples among these and it seems overall pretty slow. And especially the last chapter release left a bitter taste..
I understand they need money to pay their staff and for the servers, but they are pushing ot major dlc and shifting the balance through those kilelrs and perks too frequently in my opinion when they could be making costumes (they mentioned having an even more streamlined costume creating process last year too now) for some money on the side while skipping a chapter and focusing on health and satisfaction of the gameplay instead. The more players they hold onto, and new ones that keep playing, the more of those costumes they'll sell and then they could focus on new chapters again after dealing with ongoing issues in the game that only worsen at best each new chapter while ignored.

Sorry not a native English speaker, sometimes jokes fly above my head i guess..
It was an admittedly dark one I shouldn't have been trying to make anyways actually. I have a twisted sense of humor as I've had it put sometimes, especially when in person i can keep a straight face and it's difficult to tell when I'm joking or being serious. I get a kick out of it but unfortunately am gonna have to slow down on it because the world sucks. I've been thinking about other ways to channel it and try and make it profitable, which would be more practical anyways I guess.
While I was exaggerating in the first post btw, it could be healthy for the game for people to on a larger scale recognize the unhealthy trends in this game so they could respond on a large enough scale to get the devs to think about what they're doing wrong. If enough kilelrs were PO enough that the devs had to do something about it to save the game, the game could turn out betetr for everybody eventually as a result. I was hoping friday the 13th would have provided healthy enough competition that both games would be good in the end but stupid copyright change of hands involving jason killed that game unfortunately. So dbd really has no healthy competition on the market, and will always retain some players out of addiction or no lasting alternative offering a similar experience.
devs understand this, and so as long as once or twice a year they entice enough killers back or to stay and gradually appease the swf again by undoing what they entice killers with they'll always make bank off of this game as long as they don't do anything too bad in one poorly timed patch. They've had 4 years to see how much killers will put up with basically, so they know how to avoid that situation. That's why the satisfaction level from this game I don't expect to change much ever until real competition comes along and doesn't get nuked. Only a mass killer exodus would really force the devs' hand until then, and could wind up being a healthy event if devs react appropriately to it.

"stroke of genius" for a stockholder, since it's human nature to gang up and abuse the weak for our entertainment. It's a horrible design when it comes to balance, and potential fun for all roles. One side always has the position to humiliate and abuse the other, and only winds up in the victim position if it refuses to exert it's dominance over the other side out of some flaw of character like sense of decency.

At least with a symmetric game, you don't have a clear cut 1 for 1 "them".
Like Jesus.
We're playing a video game.
Seeing some of the flaming trash I have here and a lot of people seem to forget that. """""They""""" aren't a literal conglomerate of hellbeasts that ran over your parents and ate your dog. And it's hilariously pathetic to decide that since survivors/killers are so actually horrible as a whole you can take pleasure and righteous satisfaction in making things as miserable as possible for """"them"""" instead of just admitting to yourself that you're just as garbage as they.
I'm not mad-- just disappointed.
yeah I've tried enough of these games, and some were pretty fun for a while, but they'll tend to die too quickly and even when not too quickly once people figure them out one side always has too much of an edge over the other and it becomes the same general experience in different presentations. no more asymms for me and I hope the genre is a very short lived one. by it's very nature it is impossible to adequately balance and will always at best shuffle between one side having too much of an edge over or power to annoy the other.
-
I hope it's op too, but for a different reason. I want it to be so busted that it even brings old killers back to the game just to enjoy it. and then I want it nerfed into the ground after they all paid for it on top of the way the mmr will handle swf just so that the game can reach it's final ultimatum. make or break. The final countdown. the final countdown.

I'm hoping the game goes as followed on MMR. Just use it like the old style to see what I mean.
Rank 1, 2, 6, 19 survivors. I'm hoping MMR actually goes off the rank 1 survivor so that you get a really beastly killer and not go for the average of the group an give a rank 11 killer. This is what's costing the game killers and players. It keeps giving survivor with 3,000 hours to killers that only have a level 15 killer with 4 basic perks.
so basically put that into new MMR system.

Well MMR is probably harder to manipulate than Ranking. That's probably why they take the average instead. It also makes sense not to go the route to take the MMR of the strongest survivor, because one strong survivor can't carry the game entirely. Time will tell how good the MMR will work out. I honestly don't think it barely will change anything to be honest.
they can if they can loop an easy killer for 3 gens and that killer is too new or stubborn to let up on them. but even if they do, that swf will probably make sure the killer never finds anybody except their strong looper anyways. that's the whole point of them trying to gete asy killers which the devs are helping them continue doing so those swf keep buying new skins. This is why I hate premades more than even lootboxes in modern online games. They ruin the experience for others and get pandered to by greedy devs and publishers. I hope this game dies this year finally.
-
After learning how the game's "mmr" will handle swf (no better than 3 red ranks running with a 17 smurf to get easier to abuse killers) they have every right to dodge suspected swf still. Or to crash the game or close the app in console on the offerings screen especially when they see them stalling to 16 seconds swap out to their swf setup bs. You're just gonna have to deal with it, or waiting forever to get a lobby if the devs ever ruin dodging for kilelrs and don't put bot killers into the game to replace them. Talk tot he devs, don't hate the player hate the game the saying goes.

@landromat said:
Do you think it's fair?
Let's be honest, people do play better and get ranks easier playing SWF. Voice comms boost your chances to survive no matter you're playing competitively or for fun
SWF needs some MMR bonus so killers are stronger for groups. Let's say you have 700 mmr and your teammate is 800. That's 750 average, But since you're playing duo matchmaker adds another 100 so your average mmr counts as 850 for matchmaker. And it adds even more for 3 and 4 survivors so killers you play against are stronger. I think that's more fair then just use your average MMR
this is basically as bad as 3 red ranks with a rank 17 smurf to get easy killers. I guess this game is about to begin it's slow bleed of players. but that's the rude awakening the devs will need. hopefully the evil dead game is decent at least. I will never touch killer again in dbd I think, and if survivor queue is over 5 minutes I won't touch survivor either and it doesn't look like I can reasonably expect survivor queues to be less than ten minutes any longer. I guess I should at least uninstall it from ps5 tonight to free the space, I can leave it on steam much longer with plenty of drives since I already moved it back to hdd from an ssd so it can still sit there for a while. By the end of the year I'll permanently remove it and hide it in my steam library if the devs have still not pulled their heads out of their arses. I should have known better than to stay after seeing the same old behavior from behavior 4 years later. That is some very bad behavior.

So my friends and I have lately been complain about matchmaking. So today, we kinda sat down and started trying to figure out queue times. When we noticed something odd, at least we thought so.
So we realized during our test time it took between 9-11 minutes to get a match. So we then tried lobbies with 1 and lobbies with two people. Both the single person and the duo still averaged 9-11 minutes.
Lastly as we are PC players, we decided to toggle off "Cross-Play" and guess what, as a lobby of 4, 3, 2 and 1 we still averaged 9-11 minutes... The thing that confused me was, "Cross-Play" says "If this setting is disabled, you will only matchmake with other user on your platform who have opted out of cross-play" basically, you can only match with other people who also disabled "Cross-Play"... So my question is, why is our queue times the same with it enabled or disabled? Are you honestly saying it takes the same amount of time to find me a lobby with 60k players as a portion of 30k?
on steam some of the talkon one thread led me to think many people (since plenty commented int he thread about dong it and testing it) on steam were switching crossplay off to sometimes shave a few minutes off their survivor queues and avoid getting console survivors as teammates when solo . that would imply many pc killers also switch it off. I had been noticing a lot of my kilelrs were console for some reason the last times I played so that's possible they're doing that. once enough have done it on both sides, it would have diminishing returns especially after enough pc survivors do it.

of course thats how it should be, however the devs care more about survivor retention rate than killers, since survivors are far more in number and will bring in more money. So if new survivors are forced to play against red rank killers that just kill them every game they are less likely to keep playing. Instead they allow red rank SWF to manipulate the matchmaking allowing new players and their thousands upon thoursands hours played friends to queue against new killers.
If that killer gets frustrated of going against imbalanced matches and quits so what, they will just be replaced eventually.
you just described survivor privilege in a nutshell as well as why the system is designed to hold killers back

That is objectively false for i have not returned to actual game. Only the forums because watching the forums is like watching a dumpsterfire
yeah the dumpster fires are more amusing and satisfying than games often these days, same with tv and film, and forums don't cost me any money either lol

That usedt be a big problem, but now the game just tends to throw the solo reds and purples at you anyways even without them deliberately abusing swf matchmaking with a low friend to get at you which is why I tell people afk a game or two to depip before hitting rank 16, since they are stuck there once they hit it won't let them derank only depip and they're screwed for mm.

only if people 99 the gate
well I do it, it's habit now. I see a lot of others tend to do it too. usually when they are on gens enought o power it and don't dance around he kilelr and hook, they tend to get the gate going. I noticed a few stopping at 2 lights though even without the killer around which kind of ticked me off.

Played huntress on the game map he was the only one left with one other survivor had a 3 gen I was patrolling...proceeded to hold the game hostage for almost 30 minutes not doing anything but crouching around a avoiding doing anything. I made sure to take a video with timestamps....the developers need to do something about this I want going to disconnect and take a penalty because they didnt do anything for almost half an hour but hide
well the 3 gen explained it, expect him to hand himself to you? I spent 15 minutes on gens trying to get em going in a 3 gen against a blight once with one other guy around and it took me that to give up on it and hide (I knew where the hatch was it was the killer shack) hoping the other guy got killed so the hatch would open. It went on another close to ten minutes after that maybe then suddenly things opened, the blight said he got tired of looking, lol'd, then said he opened it for us so we could all move on. It was pretty much impossible to progress a gen too much without having another chase, I even tried to get him to chase me away from the gens so he other guy could get one but he broke off and stayed bouncing between the gens lol. You can't expect any other sort of result if theya ren't hopping themselves ontot he hook for you and theyd on't deserve to be banned for not standing there letting you kill them. just open the gate and move on or take a risk and leave the gens to catch one and settle for one and not both.

Opposite prove thyself, 15% penalty to repairing gens, cleansing speeds and healing for each teamates in the SWF lobby, doesn't affect solo Q's.
jesus christ for each? 15% should be the max applied even for a 4 man, and if it were up That high it should be the co-op repair penalty applied while the solo (in gen repair, obviouslys till only applied to a member of a swf) penalty shouldn't go over 6% or 7& for the 3 or 4 man and duos should never be penalized at all. duos are very, very rarely a trouble even with double duo lobbies. It's some 3 man and 4 man teams where the problem can be. duos, even double duo lobbies, there is only one other person for each to conspire and callout to each other with and if you are columbo you can identify the person from you need to kill or just tunnel one out period and the match gets easy instantly. 15% total combined is pretty harsh, let alone Per Player. That is hella unfair even to the ones that deliberately coordinate to screw with killers or tryhard. Those few Yt channels you may have seen with a guy and a friend in a troll duo, what you don't see are the tons of matches they screw up before cherrypicking the matches they wanna montage.
