Part of the appeal for dbd is the fantasy of it. It's not meant to be a super realistic game, but the animations need to sell to the viewer that they're looking at someone who's killed a ton of people. If it doesn't do that, then the appeal is lost.
So what I take from that is that every killer needs to walk like hillary clinton

I would never play Ace as well, because his skins are so bad and i can just not look at Jane's fat ass. Yes i know, people say she is thicc, but that's a kim kardashian thicc level i can not stand.
It's not for everybody, and there is nothing wrong with having personal taste.

I didn't get really into DBD until the anniversary update (most recent one). I was much better at playing Survivor, but could only get a few wins in where I wasn't dead by the end. Still, I had fun! However, my first attempt at a killer completely flopped. Hillbilly, Nurse, Huntress, Wraith, Trapper, didn't matter. I was terrible at all of them. Even guides couldn't save me.
Then, this supposed new rank system came out. I tried playing Survivor, and kept getting my butt handed to me. So much for that. So I decided to roll the dice again and leveled up my Huntress enough to have a stockpile of bloodpoints for the Hag. And besides a few upsets here and there, I've been nailing these trials.
So...what happened?
I know how the new system is SUPPOSED to work - it compares gameplay skill between players rather than the ranking system. Tbh, ######### the ranking system. Rank by hours of gameplay was just...awful, and has never paid off since Halo 2. (Which, debatable even then.) But normally, if a game switches to a skill-based system...shouldn't I be pitted against people at my difficulty? (Wouldn't I still suck as a killer?)
And the other thing I never saw explained was, how do they even measure "skill?" Everything is modified -- perks, cooldowns, terror radii, offerings, speed, hook placement, weapon mods, hell I can even change if the Survivors even see me or not. Anything that could be based on skill is reduced to Survivors camping on pallets (yall stop doing that. You know we can go around right...) or Killers facecamping (which I only learned was a thing after a last Survivor screamed at me for doing it). How is that skill?
I guess the timing when someone puts down a pallet or where a trap is laid matters, but that's very little to go off of.
Did they ever even explain how this system is checking for skill when there's so much in the game that can modify gameplay? Or am I completely oblivious to something?
a survivor's definition of facecamping differs from meat to meat, where one considers just keeping an eye out for the notification they were pulled off the hook face camping while another only does if you stand close enough to put two in the stink. Never consider a survivor's opinion to matter for anything while you are playing killers unless they're polite and not criticizing whatever means you used to beat them. If it beats them, it works, and they are only trying to discourage you from doing what beats them or bores them. That's their problem, not your problem. Throw the survivor rulebook out the window or wipe yourself with it's pages when you play killer.

Why'd you be excited for Charms anyway? Most Charms in the Rift are just recolored/retextured versions of each-other. They're just there as filler. I'd be more excited to get Iridescent Shards instead of Charms.
shards become bloodpoints (for those who use money for auric), they are useful, while charms either are something hardly noticeable on your survivor except perhaps to a killer or something on your hook that nobody is gonna be paying attention to while struggling on it

how could you deal with that all night lol without at least a survivor match or two in between
nvm I just woke up and my peabrain only focused on the swf acronym and missed the whole comment about your own versing weak killers. I suppose you could take your own swf encounters on you killers as karma, nothing personal. I couldn't delete the comment so I guess this is a nice way to fix it

I don't understand why they don't suicide anyway in msot cases. the longer you play the more points you lose and time of yours you've wasted and even if you wanna go because of a bad spawn and start you're on your way to or already ont he hook anyways. There usually is no sound logic behind dcing with or without penalty or progress toward bans unless you're the killer and tired of swf or the current matchmaking woes since you can't ######### as the killer and some troll swf will deliberately delay once you afk over disconnecting

-
that could ruin their mmr, making future matches unfun when 1 or 2 kills becomes a "good match" while most of their rift challenges still haven't even unlocked yet let alone been finished. No and/or pass. The satisfaction of knowing you just made somebody feel how you usually feel when playing killer is reward enough. I'd take some bloodpoints though. Keep the sacrifice since most rift challenges wouldn't be impacted by not getting it credited as one.

I believe the basement should be removed, moris should be removed or made too difficult to get much use from them, and more people should play in larger swf groups. the sooner the killers hit their mmr ceiling, run out of potatoes let alone potato killable swf, and keep seeing nerfs to their favorite killers on top of other stuff the sooner they'll leave in droves and force some good attention to the marginalized portion of the playerbase. So please use your 4 to 1 ratio, costume buying swf influence to pressure devs or convince them it is a good idea to annoy killers until enough of them quit or even better decide to only play survivor any more and clog up those queue times for the lulz. Then I can come here and read all the threads about how unfair it is survivors have to wait 5 to 10 minutes to get a match just to get plowed by the sweaty killers with them being some of the only ones left, while the killers' queues would be from instant to no more than a couple of minutes. And know that somebody dun goofed a little too good that time and that queue sequences would never be the same.

The other 10% are purple ranks. And I am not exaggerating at all

Dear devs are you trying some kind of experiment to see how long it will take before everyone leaves the game?
First you destroyed billy one of the funniest and most balanced killers in the game. Then you released an update that is one of the worst ever. Auras are bugged, frames are so terrible and there are tons of bugs. Eventually just to rub salt in the wound you released this new mmr which is completely terrible. I don't know which kind of formula you made but it's clear that even with 100 games it won't get better. A nice mmr would have had at least some kind of basic filter where people with more than 1k hrs wouldn't be paired with players with less than 10hrs. Solo is unplayable right now since sadly not everyone has the same views of your beloved fw like tru3ta1ent where even if you died at 5 gens but you made the pip its all good.
Also you told us not long ago that you would have given us a proper server sided hitreg, so my question is where's this new system?
To end this i really don't know what you're trying to get lately, i am having a lot of troubles to understand your latest choices, i hope that you will find a way to get back in touch with your community
I wonder if the reason for the matchmaking being so off at first is based on a bit of a psychological trick, one often used by mobile casino 'games'. They hit you pretty hard in those casinos with ridiculous 'offers'... and then slowly wind it down to something just as much of a ridiculous waste of money but that your brain now perceives as "much more reasonable". Once the sweaty red ranks have driven you out of your last hair follicle... you'll be content once you settle at your mmr ceiling and a "good and fun match" consists of only 1 maybe 2 kills and 2 or 3 escapes. You'll be much more inclined to accept that, rather than complain about it being hard to get a 3k or 4k especially once the ebony is also ruined or removed from the game to keep the swf spending money on auric to buy new costumes. It's clever, but not an unusually creative manipulative tactic... it's very common these days in video games. But I can be a manipulative person myself and typically see through peoples' tricks and motives.

Oh you mean like 90% of matches anyways? Every single lobby is filled with minimum 2 SWF.
not every single lobby, but most of them are. Take it from somebody that has spent close to an hour too many times quickly browsing profiles dodging lobbies because of that harsh truth. mmr ceilings will only make it worse in time knowing not a single one of them will ever be potato again nor will a rando int he lobby ever be. I guess ina fe wmonths they might do something about swf finally once the kilelrs have had enough time to hit their mmr ceiling, and face the fact their lobbies and experiences are all ######### and had been for a while by then lol. Cause a lot of them will start losing interest. and daily quests aren't gonna make any of them wanna play killer again lol. they'll be sitting on three dailies forever.

well, you already can run noed and mori right now, the only exception is... you will not even have a chance to use the noed because killing them all before finish the gens.
my problem with moris is not even have the chance to finish the gens before the killer decide rush kills ignoring DS with the mori
That's really the point of an ebony mori, especially against swf. remember that eventually most killers will no longer have weak links int heir matches once they hit their mmr ceiling. many people will stop playing, or stop playing killer and start adding onto survivor queue times instead if it becomes unfun for them. ebony mori probably should never be touched again. when the game came out, you could just mori everybody right away. That was an honest chitshow and unfair, the way it is now isn't since you still have to hook them, and then find them again against bodyblocking and borrowed time as well as new stuff like soul guard or whatever thats ieltn hill girl's perk is called. it's pretty good btw, been playing around with different builds lately and I liked it in some of the match situations I've been in on my survivor side lately.
about the mori ideas up there... a ebony mori needs to be useful, and in order to be useful you need a realistic chance to put it to use without the conditions being too difficult since map offerings would then be more practical for more advantageous maps. I like the ideas on the other moris though that you have from a balance angle if you limited cypress to one more survivor and ivory to two more with the same hook conditions you listed if they're going to require last survivor only for an any time kill. Ebony would need to allow you to kill somebody without having to work through the rest of them though, or it would be pointless and a waste of the bp in my opinion over an advantageous map offering which ironically would make it easier to power through some groups so long as mmr doesn't get in the way of that some day.

i preferr my own nerf:
Key Changes:
- Hatch only spawn when 1 survivor left, and when the doors are powered.
- Delete Broken Key spawn chance from chest and Bloodweb.
- After use a Dull or Skeleton key, instead of disappear, become into a Broken one.
Moris Changes:
- Cypress Mori (Allow to kill the last survivor, When the doors are powered allow to kill survivors you hooked atleast 2 times.)
- Ivory Mori (Allow to kill the last survivor, When the doors are powered allow to kill survivors you hooked atleast 1 time.)
- Ebony Mori (Allow to kill the last survivor, When the doors are powered allow to kill any survivor, no hooks needed.)
that defeats the purpose of the hatch and the end game collapse, which was discouraging survivors from hiding forever and standoffs over the hatch wasting peoples' time.
-
mori was already nerfed when mmr went live, the nerf just will take about a couple of months to come into full effect for most killers once every match is sweaty af when they hit their mmr cieling and a "good match" becomes only 1 or 2 kills and a 3k or 4k might happen if somebody screws up badly enough about once every few hundred matches. You need a weakest link to reall get use from amori, and with no weak links, you might as well not even have the mori and just use an offering to get a more favorable map like hawkins instead with short hook distance and easier time finding survivors.
If you like having a game to play, you should tread carefully with the moris and stop asking for more killer nerfs whether directly or indirectly. because it will not happen right away, mmr takes a while as well it takes the people themselves a little while to accept what they're experiencing won't change and to get tired enough of it. but sooner or later you'll start losing moderately skilled killers and then some of the lesser skilled ones depending on how the matchmaking compensates afterwards. That would over time trickle down to lesser skilled and eventually potato survivors, once the matchmaking would have to compensate when the sweatier killers are the ones more willingly to still play. That will be quite the I told you so moment. I honestly want it to happen at this point, because of threads like this since nothing is ever enough until the killer holds the survivors' hands tot he exit gate and holds the door open for them otw out.

Yeah it was laughable at first. I played three matches yesterday as legion and didn’t feral frenzy a single time, still gave hatch to the last guy and they never finished a single gen. They just don’t know how to play, and if I was a betting man I’d say half of them don’t even know about the tutorial.
I'll take them off your hands, 2 hooks each, and then letting them all go to hopefully not spoil the mmr too quickly while rift challenges disappear like cells in biden's brain.

Returning to Xbox, it’s been hell. Nothing but potato survivors. If you enjoy stomping survivors not even having to utilize your powers or even mind game because all they do is hold w and self care in the corner of the map, then sure, but it’s just so sad seeing a poor little meg running away passing 5 pallets.
I'd rather deal witht hat than sweat squads honestly. It would bore me after a while, but I'd have some fun with it for a little while at least. And feel motivated to get some rift challenges done with them being realistically achievable in reasonable amounts of time and/or effort. I'm afraid to destroy mmr tooe arly though, before the rest of the rift is released. But I'm also afraid to wait too long, in case they screwed something up and fix it without ever telling us about it losing my opportunity at fun matches and easy rift challenges even if I don't play killers much until the rest of the rift is available to breeze through on probably the last rift I'll buy.

The nerf that we all needed! Clown was OP! No seriously, what the hell?
As for balance;
The current matchmaking demonstrates us perfectly that matches with players of different skill levels are incredibly unfair. So is it the game that is unbalanced or is it the matchmaking that created unfair matches in all those years?
To find out if the game is balanced, the system needs to put TOP TIER players against each other. The best Killers vs the best Survivors, that is a representation of "balance" because the matches are FAIR and the players know how to play, how to abuse mechanics.
It's no coincidence that in tournaments you mostly see tunneling Spirits, Hags and Nurses. If they played other Killers and didn't tunnel, they would get destroyed.
lmfao I bet some "top tier" are gonna get pretty tired of 1 to 2 kills being a "good match". prepare for an inundation of afk killers, macro killers which I like since it's easy bloodpoints and some types of rift/compendium, and farmers when they decide there's no point in trying and hope you at least help them get some bloodpoints before they decide to just stack up on the survivor queues instead. Having too many potatos might ruin the game for a lot of survivors, but never having potatos ever again ruins the entire game for some killers without some major, major overhauls and changes in a lot of ways. When you're expected to spend weeks or months in training, and put on performances and entertain others even when you're no longer having any fun yourself... it becomes work. And people expect to be paid to work. Or they'll work elsewhere. Paid doesn't mean in cash in this case, it's figurative, the payment is fun, enjoyment, satisfaction. Not stress, abuse, and tedium.

Opie discovered it already.

All my survivor games since the MMR system introduction have been me (green rank) + grey ranks vs a red rank killer who stomps the entire team because I cannot do everything alone. Its not fun.
last night that started changing me, purple rank here, the matches started having some a bit closer together as well as the killers becoming purple and green mixes in ranks. I still got some reds though, but even earlier int he week the red kilelrs weren't always a death sentence. though those times they snowballed early off a couple people trying to save each other it usually was a 1 or 2 rank killer I think. The funny thing is rank never really meant a lot anyways before this week, although to some degree it's still not something to excuse some of the blatantly whack matchmaking recently. had some matches with a red or two, and a 20 or 2 myself recently on the team. It was weird, and ironically, sometimes the red was being tunneled first. Maybe the red killers recognized them and singled them out or something as a strategy. I dunno. I would have in their shoes to make it an easy game, so I don't blame them.
once in a while I got the last gen or an exit gate from killers when I was the last alive, and got a hatch last night too from one. That helps keep you motivated lol. I feel sorry for some of the low ranking killers with just a perk or two that I've also seen lately though... if I had known some of those guys were gonna suddenly be so low I wouldn't have done some of the ######### I did like killing all the hooks in one game that turned out to be against a rank 20 with a souped up toolbox with sabo addons and the sabo perk. I've been doing some odd stuff after becoming bored or losing a couple or few games too badly in a row like even trying no mither injured builds and stuff. Keeps it fun still. Also, spine chill is your friend these days. Lots of meyers, spirits, and even at least a couple of ghost faces as well as some wraiths.
-
moderately skilled killers might begin having a rough time once their mmr gets too high. The reason for that is once there's no longer a random potato to crack the door open with a sweaty duo or trio, you might find yourself having a very hard time getting more than a couple of kills in a game any more rendering a lot of rift challenges effectively impossible to complete without sympathetic survivors or pretending to farm and then morying all of them.
in the end the matchmaking will not be any better once it reaches that point. Especially if they don't change future rift challenges appropriately to compensate for the increased overall difficulty killer will be going forward. That's before they ruin moris even to keep swf happy and buying costumes. They're gonna need to act fast to keep the killers feeling satisfied and motivated to play killers or the game at all once the mmr singularity comes. The point it becomes aware of how pointless it is. Once people quit games these days, they rarely come back to them. I honestly don't expect a lot of killers to stick around once they realize they'll never get any potatos again without afking to offset their good matches, let alone potato swf... if you don't like the idea of swf now wait until then. Being a killer is gonna be even more frustrating and unrewarding a few months down the road once the mmr smooths itself out, especially if they don't finally let you opt of facing swf. I can't wait to see the threads 2 or 3 months from now. And with how polarized asymmetricals are, it is gonna be entertaining. I'm gonna have some doritos and beer ready to read as much of it as I can for the lulz.

I think the mmr changes are nerfs enough considering the fact that any non brain dead killer will sooner or later reacha point int heir mmr where the game iwll no longer throw them a bone with apotato filling out a 2/3 man swf lobby and the only swf they get in the future would liekly be sweat squads as well. No more potatos for playing decently for too long is punishment and a nerf enough. unless you enjoy a half hour queue on survivors with the only killers left playing to be matched with being the sweatiest regardless of how potato you are once the rest of the killers stop playing much in between chapters. . . which can happen once they run out of potatos and swf doesn't become an opt-out for them.

ha ha I feel compelled to apologize and let somebody know I'm on a rift challenge in those situations too. Especially when I had the longest flashlight one on the last rift. I had gotten 1 or 2 a game till the last one where I hit the killer 5 times with it and found another in the basement and I had hoped to be able to say "sorry for that rift challenge" fast enough after the rest of the game ended lol. I stayed spectating just to be able to be sure he knew it wasn't to intentionally troll him and I just wanted a rift challenge gone.
-
they just say these things, probably often after matches they don't enjoy, to simply scare killers into playing the way they want them to just tell them to shove it int heir twitter holes and back out of the chat and start another match and forget you ever met them. if you ever get banned for playing to win or working around design flaws, that is not your fault and it simply tells you it's a game not worth playing and they saved your time from being wasted on it in my opinion. that's how I look at it.

Disclaimer - I have all perks on all killers, but these are some hypothetical situations off the top of my head that instantly came to mind when seeing this.
just dodge the lobbies, when it happens to them oftene nough they'll wonder why it's happening and either change their loadout accordingly or get used to longer waiting in order to rush or pull off their swf antics. If they ever do something crappy like start counting lobby dodge as a disconnect, then see if killing the process mid load works, and if not, just start to afk those matches in a corner looking into the sky until once again hey ask themselves why it keeps happening to them and change their approach until it stops. That should also offset your good matches enough that you should take longer hitting the point where there is no potato ever filling out a 2 or 3 man lobby, and where no swf will ever be potato again. so that you'll still be able to finish the harder rift challenges.

I'd prefer to keep it a slow as I can on killer, at least the killers I'd rather use, and as high as I can usually as survivor so I can mooch off better teammates and have some good scary moments.

If you read the title and guessed this would be about Hex: Devour Hope...give yourself a Milky Button.
This perk promotes and encourages the most dullest style of gameplay in dbd. Get a hook, leave with an intention of not going anywhere far in particular (maybe PGTW a gen because every boosted sod runs that perk now) and then come right back, either for a tunnel or to get a free chase and hook off the rescuer, because Hex spawns are typically trash they feel they need those tokens asap, thus making every Devour Hope match the crappest thing you could possibly vs in DBD. This perk needs hard nerfing, it really does. 24m away 3/5x for an insta-down/kill - that range should be 32m at least. This perk is disgusting. I'm making this post about it because it would seem like some tit of a streamer is clearly using this perk on every build they do because almost every match lately has had this perk used in it. Agree with the post or not, this rant is very valid in it's basis, Devour is a disgustingly boring perk to find yourself vsing in any match. Not to mention most players have the attitudes of "oh, my Hex is gone. I guess I have no reason to leave the proximity of the hook now." Jeez that perk really riles me up XD
if you get tunneled like that, just don't struggle if nobody seems to be doing anything (or able to) and you miss the ds or used it already and start another match. with mmr change you'll probably be rewarded for that anyways being less likely to deal with similar killers eventually, one could hope. so it really isn't too much of a bother. until then, try and not get tunneled, and start using others as bait while getting as many gen points as you can and keeping an eye out for the hatch as you move around between since it's probably a hatch match. obviously if you find the totem, and you see by the UI the killer is involved in a chase or you already know where the killer is, kill the totem for it. Then be prepared to get focused hard for it if they catch you near the area afterward ha ha.

It's sad to see how bad they have become. They were already starting to slip in their lore before that, but the Activision acquisition put it all into warp speed. Blizzard has always been a company that steals its core lore from other stories/games/movies. I mean, Arthas is pretty much a rehash of Elric - Prince of a kingdom who gets a cursed sword that feeds on the souls of its victims.....But, at least it was fun and entertaining. Then they just decided to shoot holes in their lore to make their next expansion (whichever one you choose) work. Sad, really sad.
The one thing I will give the developers of DbD is they have created very interesting lore as it pertains to the Entity and it's created killers. The survivor lore is meh, with the exception of a few - Ace, David, Meg, Claudette, Jake and Dwight being the best of them, IMO. The whole conflict between the Entity and The Trapper is really good stuff. I wish they would really pull that information out. We need a graphic novel or short films on their created killers and their stories. I'd be willing to buy those up.
that would be anice way to act as a sort of advertisement for a future dlc chapter actually, bringing in new players to the game around the time as a goal. we're starving for decent comics these days at some points.

Wait, you lost me at WoW. Their devs are the kings of not giving a flip about their player base. Yeah, you went from the frying pan into the fire. Nice work.
when you find out how much they're paid versus the cost of living in their area, let alone compared to the pay others get from other companies and outside of games period you might understand their lack of enthusiasm. blizzard became a pretty greedy company that doesn't care about it's employees or customers once activision swallowed it up, which is why I refer to it often as just activision now and why the activision comes before the blizzard (activision-blizzard) in their name. It's probably one of the absolute worst worst game companies to work for, along with ubisoft after some of the stuff that came out about that one recently.
ubi had the gift of a dragon age bioware dev, and literally drove the guy away from the company because they wouldn't let him put his gifts to use. I both laughed and felt p*ssed off when I learned why that guy left and what we may have missed out on, all because of another suit that probably never touched a video game in it's life and doesn't know a thing at all about them telling a creative and seasoned game developer who also plays the games what they can't develop. and then you wonder why there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm and effort in recent years, when you hear about the bs going on at companies like blizzard and ubi. I'm not surprised at all any more. I almost feel bad for them at this point. Your dream job turning out to be one of the most chit jobs.

Whiny killer as usual the game would be fair if instant kill perks and add on like tombstone would be removed, or killed perks had limits just like survivor , hell the game would be fair if they removed Mori and instant downs but no one is complaining about that now are they . I play both sides , get good
great bate

Viilisca Axe Murderer might also be interesting, especially they could be much more liberal with it since iirc his identity still hasn't been confirmed like The Ripper outside of some strong speculation about a potential German (I think he was German, and later returned there with similar types of murders afterwards over there) suspect that I remember reading about. But no confirmed killer tot his day, so they could make something really interesting and use those murders as a basis. Even an explanation for why the killer was never found, heh.

He would certainly have an interesting mori, especially against the female characters. Before anybody flips their lid over it, it doesn't need to be raunchy or even graphic. The camera angle could hide most of it, just remember who the ripper was lol. If he was lame, it would be preferable he didn't exist at all within the game.
I think H.H. Holmes would be more interesting though, mainly because of the accompanying map that could be designed based on his hotel of horrors with it's lovely trapped rooms and dead ends.

Thank you very much for taking the time to link me those Q&A.
I find it a bit frustrating having to learn new Killers in such a way BUT after reading through it, I guess I can take is as a compliment. It does make sense to use the "overall rating" as a rough estimation but it's still tough and kinda scares me to try out new Killers.
Luckily Deathslinger is not a complex Killer but I can only imagine what it must be like for someone that wants to get into Nurse, Oni or Hag, for example. Weeeell gg I guess, time to play Survivor.
E: Also a bit confusing that Killers like Otzdarva face relatively new Survivors with barely any hours of playtime despite him having thousands of hours and surely played every Killer hundreds of times :-/
plus I think he recently did a 4k with every killer stream, didn't he?

The 1990 movie version of shredder ha ha ha.
