You see though, that set up is meant for a basement build, not a general build for anything or any benefit to you at securing kills, Monstrous Shrine doesn't do very much.
it does, it forces swf to get off gens and save their friend in the basement.
I do, however agree, that if it worked on normal hooks it would be 200% better.
-
ok, it would be changing how luck works, because it would be expanding things it has a connection to. As of right now, it's used for 2 things. Making it work with other things would make the system have to be tweaked for balance. That's how life works.
second My proof is: Try it.
Like i said, wont work all the time, but more often then not, it will be the closest box to where she put the trap on you. Not where you were hooked. I think the rng coding for it is wonky and numbers the boxes based on proximity instead of all boxes having a stationary number through the whole game. I'de actually love a Dev's input on this.
@Peanits how does the rng for RBT and jig-boxes work?

That doesn't make sense. There is nothing about the boxes that a "luck" mechanic can improve.
. (the point) ==============> (you)
the rbt's would be changed to a luck roll that counts to make sure you get the trap off by the time you reach the last box. As opposed to the current system where it is usualy the closest box to where you were trapped. Yes it's random. But the randomness isn't very random. a luck roll would be a buff.

That's not how the Jigasaw Boxes work. There is only one right box. Every other box is always wrong no matter how many leprechauns you eat beforehand.
And that's why I said change the way luck works :) I know how a RBT works. I also know to check the closest box to where I was trapped at because about 70% of the time, that's it.

depends.
Hag: Ruin, Huntress' Lullaby, Devour Hope, Thrill of the Hunt.
Why?: This gives me all the time i need to set up my traps and get someone on a hook. If i still have a totem left by then, great, they will scale up. If not? Hag doesn't need perks, she just needs bait on a hook. (her name could be The Fisher) plus the more they run around looking for totems, the more of my traps they trip.
Spirit: Overcharge, Discordance, surveilance and ruin.
why?: Gen pressure. SOOOO much gen pressure. Overcharge is there to prevent people running behind me and tapping the gen to stop regression. (i call that roaching, and honestly think it's a broken mechanic, regression should take a couple seconds to stop) Discordance and Surveilance tell me which gens are being worked on.
Clown: Enduring, Spirit Fury, Brutal strength, ruin
why?: screw pallets.
If you cant tell, ruin is about mandatory at upper ranks. I can run hag and spirit without, but it's a really stressful game.
-
I love estate when playing hag.
SUUUPER easy to trap those run paths and get hooks.

Its not only the time searching that slows the survivor is also the time it takes for him to get to the chest, search it and go back to a gen, it might take 20/30 seconds easily (which is a third of a generator).
They are not a very good secondary objective because the contents usually suck unless you have Ace in the Hole so not a lot of people uses them, if you were to make them even worse noone except very new players would use them.
Totems are a better secondary objective because noone likes NOED and they dont make a ton of noise if you stop cleansing them halfway through.
P.D. they are not supposed to stop genrushing since a team that wants to do it will ignore everything and go straight for gens even if it costs them a NOED but totems and chests do slow down average teams.
that's why I made the suggestion of the perk that makes chests cursed. Guaranteed good items, but a longer search and an alert for the killer. The chests would look different, and probably sparkle, to draw the eye and tempt.
-
I get them when I play late.
There connections are better then many americans.
-
@tomikomPL They recently buffed survivor pipping, after heavilly nerfing Killers pipping.
This means that it is now easier for survivors to rank, but harder for killers.
The obvious reprecussion of this is you. Someone playing against people far more skilled then them, and using a top tier killer. (except Legion...Just hit him in the face with a pallet, t-bag till he gets frenzy back, and hop back over the pallet when he comes after you so he runs out of his frenzy again. then t bag more) (alt: Use Lithe. lithe hard counters legion)
Many people pointed out that this was what would be happening when they said they were going to do it. But BHVR knows best.

@Peanits said:
I like them, I just think they need to have less luck involved. You shouldn't be able to take it off after just one box.Know how you fix that?
By making the luck stat in your game useful. It's currently only useful for Kobing off a hook and getting out of a trapper trap.
Why not have it buff the chance the jigsaw box is right?
Why not have it buff Loot Box Rolls? (who cares if it helps them pull out a purple flashlight, it's super easy to get them off the bloodweb, especially if you've prestiged)
Why not have it reduce the amount of skill checks? (keep in mind, this would technically slow gen progression down late game, but help vs ruin early game. interesting trade off)
to go with this, why not an offering for the killers to give the survivors bad luck? Kinda like the mist bottles.
-
I agree.
Cypress mori should be base (it would make mori's a lot more usable and fun)
I also think Green and Red mori's should be add-on's. Even this makes them a bit to OP imho. But it would even it out.
-
i like it. otherwise you could highlight the killer when the perk would affect him.
That being said, head on isnt that useful, unless you are saving people from the basement.
That perk can get a whole team out of a basement.
-
The killer that adds more to the game in terms of new playstyles.
-
You're wrong about both monsterous shrine and iron grasp.
I use both at high rank with my hag's basement build. With iron grasp and agitation she moves faster with a survivor on her shoulder.
With monsterous shrine the survivors team can't push gens and get them before they go to struggling.
With territorial imperative and Hag traps, they have to crouch into the basement, slowing the unhook, letting me catch them with my early warning. sending them sprinting out to trip my traps as they try to escape. now i got 2 in my basement.
That being said... Useless perk combo:
Spies from the shadows is broken atm. Doesn't work.
my fave stupid one is.... Tinkerer on Huntress. (her hum isn't her TR, so they still hear you coming, even if you reach them)
-
@Peanits said:
To play Devil's Advocate, if you make chests less appealing for Survivors, wouldn't that encourage people to stop searching them completely and do generators instead? Ideally you would want them to search chests as much as possible since that buys you time.
Chests should NOT BE CONSIDERED OBJECTIVES.
They are not a good way of padding game time. they take almost no time to search, it's like mending. fine on paper, useless in action for game slowing. A secondary objective should be like, finding a part for a gen before repairing it.
I had an interesting pirate killer idea once. He spawns cursed chests. These chests have purple items in them, but act like Thrill of the Hunt. Slower search time, and alerts the killer.
This could be an interesting perk idea since it not only actively baits the survivors into getting off the gens with guaranteed good items, it alerts the killer as to what is happening so he can react.

Devs need to remove ranks...that's all there is to it. Originally used as a matchmaking tool for player, the thought was that it was a bonus to give payers something to play towards.
Ranks have had nothing but a negative effect of players. Devs can't get the pip system down, and use it in an effort to control player behavior. Problem is, most of these actions are out of the players control. As a killer, I hook a survivor, s/he dies on hook...there went a ton of emblem points. As a killer, I did my part. Survivor made a mistake, I capitalized on it, downed them, hooked them, and get less because they made sure they couldn't get saved. Interesting part about it...survivors lose out as well. Escaping becomes more difficult, no altruism points, no co-op points.
The rank system doesn't work unless players play exactly like the system is designed to reward players for being played.
I slug the 2nd to last survivor of every match, especially if I see them working on a gen. I use them as bait to see if the last survivor will at least attempt to help, or if they are just being non-productive hidey little bitches waiting for the hatch, The Devs think the killer closing the hatch will remove the hatch stand off situation....oh hell naws! The real hatch stand off takes place between survivors long before the killer finds the 2nd to last survivor.
Remove ranks, remove pips, and just play the damn game.
I agree with the sentiment. But not the that rank needs to be removed. We have a solid playerbase. A playerbase with a range of skills.
I don't know about you, but when I'm a killer vs yellows or greens, i get bored. They don't understand the spacing for loops, how to push gens and save people off hooks, or how to juke me with lines of sight.
They absolutely need to fix the ranking system though. i hate having my points as a killer dictated by survivors. Ie: It's really annoying that I lose points for them healing. If i am putting enough pressure on the survivors to force them to heal out of their injured state, I'm doing things right.
-
I know your info was made up....
But that's actually not to bad of a power. Somewhat similar to Dokkabi from Rainbow 6 Siege. Every so often he can call up people and find where they are hiding. neat.
But they would have to add a second level to the power, because it adds no help in the chase. However, it is a nice starting point.
-
@Peanits Updated mine, I got 3 good ones.
1: When most people reach red ranks
2:Red rank populations after pipping changes (before and after, killer and survivor)
3: How long it takes to perk out a survivor and killer (get all perks on them) (show us the grind)
-
@Niitosky You do know about the icon you can look into your folders and find right now, for an offering for a highschool, right? It just recently appeared, and was not part of the "teacher" files of old.
If you are so certain these sounds, these very generic late 80's or early 90's slasher sounds, are hellraiser based. Please, post me a clip of the sounds from a movie.
The sound clips for Halloween and Nightmare on Elm street are very easily identified as from their respective series. The melody of girls singing in the meter of "1-2, freddies coming for you" The sound when Myers levels up his power, the chase music, i can find those in movies easy.
-
I voted down. You might learn why Lerys is good for survivors if you played it enough.
i think they need to remove the mist reduction from survivors all-together though. What is the point of that?
-
What do you guys think about reworking some of the old models? Like Megs, Dwights Claudettes and Jakes?
Nea needs a touched up face. She looks like she has a congenital defect.
edit: Unless this was the goal of the devs. To give some representation to this community. It took me a second for that thought to hit.
That being said, I think the original killers need their mori's updated. they are bland, and leave a handful of seconds in the animations where the killer doesn't do anything.
-
@legion_main LOL, if it helps, i reached rank 1 killer on ps4 before switching to PC :)
-
Nah, injured gives huge debuffs as it is, if the killer takes advantage of them.
I cant count how many survivors have juked me at a loop, only for me to see their blood.
I can't count how many people i've tracked down through buildings because of how loud the pain moans are.
They just need to fix sounds for this to be more pronounced.
-

-
@legion_main Well, d/cing ont the hash-mark screen costs you nothing but your offering. And that's what the connection issue is. Beyonfd that, you can see the ping before you start the game.
ie: When survivor i never play vs a killer with higher then 140 ping
as killer i don't play vs survivors with above 150 ping.
I just leave the lobby
-
@peanits Dedicated servers can make catching D/cers easier sure. But that wont be the ace for your straight flush. You need other cards to make that hand sir.
There are real, solid, answers on the forums for this problem. That go beyond bans. Since Bans are a bandaid.
-
Is this also the reason we have had reports of a few threads being deleted? (maybe some unforseen side effect?)
OMG weird science! I loved the movie, and the show.
-
Scream did a LOT for the slasher subgenre of horror, by subverting the expectations of the genre.
Slashers were always this being who was infused with pure evil. And unstoppable. But in scream, it was a couple fanboys copycatting their favorite genre. This let them add a bit of comedy into the equasion, which worked wonders. It's hard to have fear, without happiness.
As for power, on my thread someone suggested being able to "call" a generator, and appear there. If they went that route, it would be a nice twist for a power.
But i predict it will be a better version of Legion. Like Hillbilly is a better Leatherface. But backwards, like most people think it should be.
-
Most of my SWF friends are Survivors I killed, but didn't throw hate after the game.
A lot of the time I will offer tips to survivors if I notice they make the same mistake over and over. Most of the time this is met with ass-holes Sometimes I get a new friend.
You just got to understand that peoples pride can be sore after a game.

I will be the first to admit. I'm not great at datamining. I avoid it because i've broken a few games in the past.
But if you tell me how, I'de love you like the plague loves Vick's Vaporub
-
@not_Queen All those things you've said you want to re-integrate would be amazing for the community. I know it costs money, even if it's in the form of time, but this sort of thing does a lot for advertising your game.
I personally look forward to what's coming if you are hiring to meet these challenges. I know i can be rough like sandpaper at times. But it's just me trying to smooth out the game I love :)

@Peanits said:
You would see something much like the beta where people would queue at the same time as their friends, check if they're in the lobby together, and then leave if they're not. It would greatly increase queue times for everyone. Survive With Friends was not around in the beta and it didn't stop anyone then, anyone who's really determined to play with their friends will still do so. The only difference is that you would annoy and chase away all the casual players who just want to play a game and chat with their friends.
and NOW we finally get the real reason for SWF. it wasn't "always intended" it was a fix to a legit problem. Even if it's caused many more.
-
Alright I just want to say first that is is just my theory, but you can get hyped because of the last picture. They all speak by themselves.
I have a thread on this too.
There's actually a LOT more tweets from Torbert about this. He says things like "Wouldn't everyone love it if Ghostface came to a succesful horror game?" and a bunch of others that got deleted.
Add into it, BHVR has an active agreement with Lionsgate already. The other half of the Ghostface copyright.
-
@GrandpaBill24 I'm sold that it's scream. The sounds found don't match up to hellraiser like the halloween sounds match myers, or the freddy hum matches freddy.
I'm still wondering what their power will be though.
-
the sound bugs and the phasing bug has made a lot of spirit mains switch to other killers for a while.
But they will be back on the spirit once they fix her....If they fix her.
-
I was going to make the arguement that Bill's perks are actually just common pool perks assigned to a steam exclusive survivor, so doesn't actually dilute the perk pool.
But then I counted the common pool perks. 14 survivor, 11 killer. So, you are right. We should have one more killer.
-
@theshape78 Nice find! Do we know who found it?
it does look legit. Usualy the fake icons that surface are to clean. BHVR offerings and such have a grainy feel to it like this one does. So I feel it's legit. But knowing the source would be great.
-
This is why i as a survivor, never play with a killer that has above 140 ping
And as a killer, I check all 4 other pings to make sure they arent above 150.
I want a fair game.

EGC as it is is fine. it needs some minor tweaks to get the best out of it. Which is something that's going to take a couple months of live data to figure out. I look forward to perks that effect it, on both sides. Left Behind will hopefully get reworked now.
I am going to keep stating loudly that they should revert all changes on Pig, and get some hard data on her power level in the EGC.

Thanks, i was far to lazy to type things out with that kinda detail.

Back when the devs were doing live streams every week, they mentioned it a few times, as a way to help with queue times. However, it barely makes a dent in the issue.
it honestly makes 0 sense. Most people keep their dailies and do a couple at a time.
So it wouldn't help lobby times, since they would be skewing the next days lobby pools. Or next weeks.
If you said something like "it gives you dailies for things you own but don't play much" i could see. Since I rarely get the hag daily, but get Wraith's a few times a week. And because it wouldn't be expected to effect que times.
-
Back when BT was first introduced, when your timer wouldn't pause unless you were healing, I thought it would be a cool idea to introduce that concept as a replacement for some instadowns that everyone complains about.
thing is, that's how Legion worked. But people thought it was to strong.
In truth the strength of legion was in his add-on exploits. Franks being op, Both CD add-ons stacking even though they shouldn't, both mending add-ons stacking even though they shouldn't, and ofc, moonwalking.
Thanks to outrage and ignorance they neutered what I thought was a fun killer that needed some tweaks. (like each stab to a different person having a shorter bleed out timer, as he gets more excited in his frenzy)

I worked hard during those events to get those cosmetics. And most games make event cosmetics exclusive. The only reason DBD hasn't, is because they, for the longest time, didn't have many cosmetics to choose from. Now that that isn't the case I think it's a good time to start making event things exclusive.

Agreed, I'm not buying into the Pinhead stuff either. I feel that it could be fake, not saying that it is, but there's a good chance it could be. Compare that with all the evidence we have for Ghostface on the other hand, which is far more convincing. Still, I just don't know what power Ghostface would have. The only thing I can think of though, would maybe be something where if he's at a distance from a survivor, you activate this power, and basically highlight a survivor, and press another button to select them. Then, the survivor would hear a 90's cell phone ringing for a few seconds, and Ghostface would basically appear right next to the chosen survivor, if that makes sense. Something similar to the Nurse's power, or the Hag's jumpscare ability.
@TheShape78 oooohhhhhhh.... Not a bad idea. You could tie it to a generator even. Kinda "calling it" and appearing there after a couple seconds of eerie music/ sounds.
Sounds like the ones found.
nice one sir.

So has anyone here seen pinhead and can point out what they soundeffects are/come from in the movie?
i've heard the sounds. Paulie played them on stream last night.
They aren't taken right from hellraiser.
Or scream for that matter.
If they sound like anyhting, it sounds like generic late 80's early 90's slasher sounds that sound identifiably electronic.
There's one that sounds like it would make a decent custom heartbeat.

There aren't too many rarely-used perks that can change a game outside of some specific encounters, but people are finding a lot of the other perks are pretty powerful, which is nice. It's boring seeing the same things all the time, so when a rare Devour Hope triggers and surprises you all halfway through a game, it can be a great scare.
I started using Hope on a character that had no other perks unlocked and it's fun. It's not as strong as Adrenaline, it's very situational, and it really only helps you make it to a gate most of the time (if you even survive to the end) but when trying to make a save or mind-game a killer standing between you and the exit, it can be pretty neat to have.
I also started using Distortion since I got it, and I love this perk. The info I get whether or not it triggers is worthwhile because I know if I have to try and hide or not. Sometimes I'm medkit healing myself and I know the killer has Nurse's Calling since it triggers. Or if I have to hide later on because of B&C. I wish it gave a temporary distorted effect in your survivor like the graphic but I still like it.
No hate on this one, I prestiged and the only perk I could get beside base was Deja Vu. I slapped it on as a joke and I keep it now (until much better stuff comes). This perk will prevent you from ever having gens clustered together. It triggers for a minute every time a gen is done, showing you the current closest gens, no matter where they are. At the beginning it stops the tri-gen strategy Doctor makes so irritating, but later on all the gens are so far apart it really helps the survivors lose some of the pressure, especially with slower killers. I'd recommend everyone giving it a try.
I know the topic says one perk but there's a bunch of rarely seen perks that can be helpful. I'm trying to spread the word!
distortion is SUPER strong. and I run it in higher rank survivor games. anyhting that removes your scratch marks is sleeper op.
try this build once or twice.
Distortion, Poised, Dance with me, Lithe
just try it.
-
@ProfoundEnding said:
I thought there were leakes in the game files of Pinhead?
You are talking about the sound files. Those sounds don't exactly point to pinhead. They do kinda sounds hellraiserish, since they sound electronic and not made with real instruments like scream did. But i think that's a studio choice that people are reading to far into. Plus the sounds could work for Scream as well.
Add into it the tweets from the liscensing officer for ghostface stating that the guy asking for ghostface to be in DBD will have a huge ghostface announcement at the end of next month because he keeps his promises... Then pulls them down a day later?
It smells like he got a little to excited and BHVR was like "hey, let's get the dlc done first"
-
They should do this. or at least give ever killer there own heart beat.
They already have a couple examples of it in the game, and it didn't break nothing.
-
what i'm saying is that Ash evens out the roster, because we already had Leatherface on the killer side who didn't have a survivor.
