Let me translate your statement. "I dont think facecamping is toxic, so im going to hide that by insulting others"
-
I'm sorry to tell you, standing next to the hook and staring at the survivor, giving other survivors literally 0 chance to actually unhook even if they try outside of swf bullshit, is toxic. But continue with your bad faith arguments, this forum is full of them
-
I should clarify on PC, I do not know of those options on pc
-
I am not speaking of endgame camping. I am speaking face camping throughout the match, and you know that.
What is your goal with making this bad faith argument?
-
Hey yall, ya wanna know something? Just because genrushing is terrible, or the garbage that is deadhard+borrowed time+Decisive strike, doesnt mean we should ignore how bad face camping is either. They are ALL problems and all should be worked at and fixed.
Going 'why should we fix X when Y and Z are a problem' is how NOTHING gets #########' fixed
-
I really dont get the argument of 'survivors will just run around the hooks and swarm the killer' like... let them. That means they arent doing gems. Hook someone, let the survivors do what they will with them. Just because they unhook doesnt reduce the amount of progress toward a sacrifice.
Like yeah, as a killer it can be frustrating to get swarmed by survivors in a swf but a hook is a hook. Hook them and walk away, thats all there is to it.
-
Considering that is what determins rank, then losing the BP and the points, causes them to derank, which again... puts them in the low tiers with new players and bad players. It keeps them out of circulation.
Also this is a wonderful thing on this forums. Instead of posing options on how to fix things, you find people like SuzuKR here, who come into a thread and just play a 'corrupt a wish' where you take what the person said and just make excuses as to why it wont ever work.
You provide nothing constructive to the conversation and only manage to shut down conversation.
-
To SuzKR demanding me fix a problem the game devs couldnt. Its actually quite easy, because its already in the game. Increase the blood point punishment for killers that stay within the hook's range.
Scale it based upon the duration spend within an area and the distance from the hook. If a killer stays in a M1 range of the hook for the ENTIRE duration of a 2 hook phase sacrifice, then they lose enough bloodpoints to counteract what they get for sacrificing them.
Done and done. If survivors are gonna rush up and try and unhook, let them. Chase one of them aroudn and let them unhook the first person. The game isn't designed to be a 'one hook and dead' game anyhow.
If they arent good enough to get kills without doing this, they drop down to the low ranked matches and play with other poorly skilled players.
-
Diagetic reasons do not justify making game design choices that cause the player physical discomfort, lavars.
'its part of the game' is a bullshit reasoning.
-
I love all the people going 'I already bought this game at a full price, and had to buy more dlc for these characters, I'm perfectly fine being nickle and dimed EVEN MORE with in game purchased for cosmets!' Tell me you lick boot wtihout saying you lick boot.
-
Ill say I would prestiege my characters much more then the none I do now, if I knew I didnt have to spend weeks grinding to get the perks I wanted back up to tier 3.

So we can probably expect evil dead nfts
That is quite disapointing, and upsetting. Now not only do we have to avoid ######### video game companies that abuse their employees (I'm looking at you activsion/blizzard and ubisoft), but we also have to avoid ones that abuse the planet with nfts. The amount of games that we can ethically play is getting smaller every damned day because of ######### companies.

Don't get Identity V if you're boycotting, they're partnered with BHVR.
That is a very good point, thank you!

Without a doubt

Can we get an admin or a mod in here to handle the utter stink from all of these basement dwelling neckbeards coming in here to WELL AKTUALLY and shout a woman into submission and silence for expressing the desire to have more female characters in the game?
Cause your forum is starting to stink like an 8chan board and you really dont want that for your game.
-
Yes if it is just Jeff as an artist, no if it is meant to look like Bob Ross, I would VERY much not want to kill Bob Ross
-
Just played on the map for the first time and holy god I hate it.
Its incredibly faithful to RE which is really nice, but holy #########, being bodyblocked by other survivors in hallways, tons of rooms with no exits, or very obvious exits. Its just beyond unfun to play on as a survivor, no idea about a killer...
Like when the hallway you are in has two exits, and thats it, how are you meant to beable to lose the killer or hide? Theres a reason the big open maps work, and the tight indoor ones dont.

Every game? No.
I say this from experience. No matter how 'fair' I'll play as killer, I will always be blasted for 'tunneling scum' and 'camping trash.'
Survivor recently unhooked runs in front of me while I'm chasing somebody else? I'm tunneling.
I follow a survivor back to a hook rescue? I'm camping.
Survivor heals UNDER the hook? I'm tunneling.
Survivor plays ring around the rosy in shack while survivor is in basement? I'm camping.
Survivor abuses BT? Tunneling.
Urban Evasion near hooks? Camping.
Savior ditches rescue for strong position, leaving me with rescue? Tunneling.
Hook bombing? Camping.
The list goes on. My point is, many times when a survivor bms about tunneling/camping, the blame falls on either their teams bad choices, or their own. I'm not saying hard core tunneling/camping doesn't exist. It does, and it is a frustrating experience, especially in lower ranks where the experience pool is minimal. However, it's much less an issue than let on. It's the same as the constant 'evil SWF' posts. SWFs an issue, sure, but you aren't running into 4 man tac squads every match as the forums would lead you to believe.
Every game? yes
You can throw up some examples of people calling you a tunneler and a camper when you claim you arent, but that doenst prove anything.
Actually let me be clear, if you constantly change your target mid chase to the one you have already recently hooked, you are infact tunneling. I dont care if you dont think you are doing it, you are.

@BrokenSouI said:
Oh hey. We haven't had one of these posts today.
My response to this is 'that means there is a problem, if there is a thread like this every single day.'
They changed the old Michael perk that required you to tunnel an obsession at the start of the game inorder to get a bonus, because it was unfun for the survivors. I dont see how this is any different.

Both sides have unfair addons
Just because there are unfair ones on both sides does NOT mean that they should keep them unfair.
Also, no survivor addons are as game changing as 'you now do 2 health states for one hit'
-
The real frustrating part is normally these grinds are to get someone to PAY a microtransaction cost. For this game that isn't there so there is no reason besides forcing more engagement.
-
It is literally a timed dodge skill, the entire point of the perk is the I frames, not the movement speed bonus. Removing it would make the perk do nothing.
-
I run kindred as a survivor, so I see all kinda. When they are rotating around with 3 people trying to unhook the other, and you are just getting free hits, it is udnerstandable. Its when the match starts, everyone starts gens, and the killer gets someone. Then they stand there staring at the hook while ignoring everything else.
Again, yes it is a strategy, you can do it to win, but dear god its the most boring and frustrating thing. As a survivor theres just nothing you can do, even the best perks wont get you out of it, and as a killer, you are literally just standing there staring at a hook.
To the 'I play how I want crowd' how is hooking one survivor then standing there doing nothing while they die any fun at all?
-
@EvanSnowWolf said:
Why should a Killer leave the hook though? Every whiny Survivor fails to answer this question. You all want more gameplay time, but you think that has to come at the expense of the Killer playing abjectly stupid.
This goes double if the other Survivors have been giving him a hard time. Do I want to really go after that Ace that looped me for two minutes and hit me in the face with four pallets? Not really. You could GIT GUD me all you want for that reasoning but it doesn't change the fact that the camping in that scenario is an objectively better idea and you'll need a viable alternative to it in order for the Killer player to leave in that scenario, and teabagging ain't it, chief.
The killer should leave the hook because the game incentivizes it. The developers tell you how to play the game by how they reward bloodpoints. you lose points for being near the hook. By camping you do not get into chases, you do not hit survivors, you do not get multiple hooks. Where you could end a match with nearly 100k bloodpoints, a camping killer ends with around 30k.
From a gameplay perspective, camping a hook is not only boring, but it leaves you open to getting just quickly overrun. If the other survivors just do not care at all about their ally, they can get 3 gens done in the time you hook the one, then you hook a second, and the last 2 gens are done and 2 escape. You are losing on that prospect.
-
I run kindred. You can tell when a killer is patroling or camping the area. I am specifically talking about when a killer is in the Kindred radius and does NOT leave that area for the entire time, if they are not just facecamping.
There are ways to make the game not miserable for players, I'v brought it up many times but instead of punishing the killer w/ a loss of blood points, reward survivors for the amount of time spent on a hook when the killer is within range significantly more. Not only do you lose the match by being camped, you are unable to actually play the match, and then get barley enough BP for one or two nodes on the web. So someone wanting to actually ruin people's time can just hook them and they just have their time wasted.
I do understand that some times camping is fine, I'v camped before. I played a legion match a few days ago where I caught two survivors playing around near the basement, got them both on hooks in the basement at the same time with 0 gens finished. So I decided it was worth letting them do 2 gens to get 2 kills.
Thats not the kind of camping I mean. The amount of games of late with wraiths that just sit near the hook staring, waiting is in the double digits since the update.

I want to see a universal monsters DLC, with the classics, w/ a black and white killer adn black and white map.
-
Because I am noticing them not spawning in places like 'between the two boxes against the wall' on maps with stone walls, they arent in the little [___] hiding areas on coldwind anymore. They still spawn on coldwind in the corner w/ the trailer and the barrel next ot the wheel but significantly less.
I am personally finding it frustrating, they were already fairly pointless ot hunt for without the perk, now TRYING to find them its difficult, so they will just be totally ignored unless you are trying to find a lit one.
-
As someone who has recently recruited enough players to the game to beable to do a game wiht 4 survivors and one killer all within the friend group, knowing that we cant play together and earn points is beyond frustrating.
Ever consider... not allowing BP increasing items custom games?
Also you say it affects game times, but do you know how infuriating it is to wait 10 minutes for a match just to get a killer that wants to farm BP, and then the next match is the same? There goes my time for games to people taht want to farm. If they want to farm and skip the grind let them.
If people are trying to activly avoid the grind you put in, maybe the grind doesnt need ot be there/shouldnt be there. This isn't a free to play game, having to spend hours grinding on a tree just to make the new character work the way I like is not fun, especially when you buy that new character with real money.
-
I second that bug.
-
Is there anything more upsetting as pig, when you kill someone who was being weird and ask after game what was up, and they go 'I was trying to boop the snoot'
-
As a player who already has very bad eyesight, these are near impossible to see, and since the devs outright refuse to put in any kind of accessibility options, this has cut off a large portion of the game and the perks I used to use, from being usable.
-
Bumping and echoing this. DBD needs this and more accessibility features in general. It is beyond behind the times when it comes to these things.
-
The problem with the addon that breaks pallets is that it extends your terror radius to the whole map, making the heartbeat ping from survivors useless because you cant tellif they are two rooms away or a map away.
The build I tend to run is BBQ and Chilli, Ruin, Surveilance, and then the last one I dont really have something fixed dont know whats good.
I find her addons to be kind of weak all together, nothing really feels helpful other then duration and cooldown reduction for FF.

I turned on my Timer on my phone and I waited 5 min. 30 sec. to find a match as Oni against 2 people with a key. The match was shorter than the queue since I took a Mori with me. I basically waited almost 6 min. to get an extremely boring match.
I mean, you brought a Mori and expected it to be a fun game. Whos fault is that?
-
Being a queer as ######### as I am, can they just lean into Huntress and give us an outfit for her that like... is sleeveless and shows off that 6 pack she clearly has? The sapphic community demands it.
Also to those saying 'ummm so what about the lesbians/bi who play?' yall do realize that Meg Nia and Yui radiate gay girl energy, right?

This argument is illogical, but I dont like typing so I will wait for someone with enough patience to respond.
The more you do in a match the higher your score is going to be, the more points you are going to do. Also the higher rank you are going to get. If you forgoe all the categories just for speed, you are going to lose ranks, instead of gain them. There is no upside beyond just getting games over with faster.
-
As someone who plays a big knowledge stealth build that I use to work on gens when the killer is within touching distance, the Doctor is my BANE. He ######### up all of my plans every time.
-
because its a team game and you are refusing to participate in it. If you are stealthy and hard to find, then you should be using that to sneakily unhook your fellow survivors.
-
Look, am I mad that it ins't JAAAAAAAAAAMES SUNDERLAND, yes. Am I upset that pyramid head is a manefestation of his guilt? Yes.
Am I happy that we get heather ######### mason and pyramid head in dbd? ######### YES! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
-
I have three levels of hatred.
One is ones I dont like playing against because they really challange my gameplay style, which is Doctor and Ghost Face, because I play a big information and stealth style of survivor.
Ones I dont like playing against because they are frustrating are those that get easy exposed triggers. Michael for example. One hit KOs are not fun at all to me.
Lastly are the ones I dont like because they encourage god awful gameplay, which are trapper and wraith. I'v had more wraith and trapper campers then any other killer.
-
I second this. DBD's system is built like a system for a game that uses microtransactions to boost bloodpoints, but it doesnt do that. I have no idea why the grind and filler items (I'm looking at you pouches!) HAVE to be taken.
Selling back items would be amazing.
I have also mentioned this in my own thread about the same topic before. BUT you should let killer on either side spend bloodpoints POST MATCH before going back to the lobby to keep the addons and items they used, but only if they earned enough BP in the match.
You could even keep it thematic. 'Burn two offerings to the entity inorder to protect an item/addon/offering of your own' and it requires either 2 of the same rating, 4 of the rating below it, or 6 of the rating below that.
-
LOL are you serious with that argument? OMG SWF is perfectly fine and balanced because the killers have some special abilities. Get the ######### outta here with that.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/151626/an-option-to-make-swf-bearable
Separating SWF teams into a category killers had to opt in to would end SWF teams. Very few killers would choose that game mode. If Killers cared about BP, they wouldn't insidious camp. Ending SWF teams because of queue times would cost the game significant revenue.
Also, providing an additional perk, on top of their existing perks is a no go. If for no other reason than it would alert the Killer to the fact that they are facing a SWF and give them the opportunity to lobby dodge.
I do like the idea of introducing perks you can use specifically to counter SWF though - like the one you mentioned. But I dont think you should be able to know whether or not you need to use it. Thats how perks work now. You don't know if you're going to go against a Doc, you just have to choose whether or not you want to bring calm spirit because thats a killer you really have trouble with. You dont know if you'll need DS but you bring it just in case and risk it being a wasted perk slot. It should have the same risk/reward.
All I'm seeing from you is reasons to keep it the same and make it a miserable experience for killers. Also your answers as to why not to even try this dont really fly.
-
I personally think that shes a bit all over the place, and thats me saying that as someone to whom the pig is their main and favoreite killer, though I'm clearly not an expert at her.
Personally I dont think the bear traps actually work that well for either game play or her theme. If the survivors know what they are doing then you shouldnt be chasing them down at trap boxes at all because if you do your wasting time while others are doing gens. By that I mean if survivors are focusing gens and one goes off to box, if you chase after them you might get them and get one kill, but at the expensive of 2 or maybe 3 gens (which is a big ass trade off for a single kill).
I have had the most fun using her with the 'amanda's blackmail letter' addon, which lets you see survivors when they are within a very close proximity to you, I would love to have the bear traps reworked into some kind of variation on that, where if you kill someone you put a device that lets you mointor them and see their auras when you are within a very close radius.
-
The more I play the more I start to think that negative reinforcement doesn't work well. So I'v kind of changed my stance on this. What I feel is that unsafe unhooks shouldnt reward bloodpoints, there should be no bonus for it, but you dont lose any, BUT safe unhooks should get a big bonus.
I fleel the same way about things like camping as well. Chases, time away from hooks should grant extra bloodpoints. (like a bonus if you hook someone and move out of line of sight of it and outside of a radius within a period of time). It encourages good and fun play.
-
I'm honestly fairly new to killer I play a few rounds of killer maybe once a week? When I do I normally just stick to the Pig since shes the one I'm best with. I grabbed a game or two with huntress because I like her design the most and I had a daily ritual for her. I suppose this is my rank, but I am new enough to this game to still not have any idea if thats even good or bad...
-
Gotta echo another comment here. Problem isn't flashlights, problem is SWF groups using them. Its when you get someone down after players constantly harassing all game, and they bodyblock you in and flashlight.
-
The biggest issue for me comes from the exact points you laid out, no matter what point of view you are looking at, its not a fun game. If you are hooked its not fun, if you are one of the 3 left its not fun, if you are the killer its not fun.
There are some situations when camping is okay, like the post game collapse for example.
I personally think that the game should encourage instead of punish. Things like 'time speant near hooked survivors shouldnt punish you, but instead time spent AWAY from hooked survivors should reward you. If you hook a survivor and leave the area to find more, you should given a tangable and visible benefit akin to the safe and unsafe hooks.
Especially since Bloodpoints dont really affect anything monitarially (except MAYBE the shrine of secrets) they should start giving them more freely when you do things that make interesting games, vs just trying to win.
-
If you look at more modern games, spiderman for Ps4 for example, you see a wide array of these mechanics that have options. For example you can button mash for things in the game BUT if you go to the accessibility settings you can change it to a hold button instead.
