I find legion and huntress annoying but only because of legion having no chase interaction and hatchet hitboxes being the size of small planets.
I like to refer to them as "cadillacs".

Moris: You can't live with 'em, you can't live without 'em. We love to watch our favorite killer inflict some gory punishment on those darn toxic survivors. But let's be honest: moris just aren't fair. So, here's my suggestion to try and balance those bad boys:
- Cypress Mori: Leave as is. I think this one is about right.
- Ivory Mori: "Allows the killer to mori survivors who have been hooked twice." This would make it similar to Pyramid Head's Final Judgement. It's strong, but not TOO strong.
- Ebony Mori: "Grants the ability to kill one survivor who has been hooked by your hand during the next trial." This is the old Ivory mori. In my opinion, taking a survivor out of the match early enough is pretty darn strong, and should be an iridescent offering.
What do you all think? Are moris too strong? Are they over hyped? Should my Ivory and Ebony ideas be swapped? Just some ideas for ya. :)
If they have to be hooked twice for the ivory, it may as well not exist, or count as a full on sacrifice, points wise.
A better idea would be to make it so you can only use a mori after everyone has already been hooked once. Not one at a time, literally, unless you hook all 4 survivors at least once, you can't use it.

I agree that killer takes more skill but survivor does take skill as well and obviously is an asymmetrical game so of course survivors can make more mistakes. This doesn't take away from the fact that although you say you just press E the survivor does have to use it at the right time for distance or it will be useless.
Of course they have to use it at the right time, but the window that we call "the right time" in terms of using it for distance, even you have to agree, is pretty heckin' big.

I'll apologize for that but it's annoying when people act like only killer takes skill. DH for distance is the same as enduring or spirit fury because they have similar impacts. I understand what you're saying but don't downplay that it is hard to loop a killer when realistically killers have every advantage in chases.
I never said only killer takes skill - but objectively speaking, killer does require more strategy, time management and attention, and thus more skill. I don't think that can be argued. Survivors have a lot more freedom and room for mistakes in that regard.
As for DH for distance having a similar effect to enduring/spirit fury, yes, they do - but enduring/spirit fury have become exceedingly rare lately unless its being run on a killer with existing mobility in their kit (not nurse and spirit, though, for obvious reasons); because slower killers need slowdown perks in order to even have a chance to apply gen pressure. Unless of course, they tunnel and proxy a 3 gen with a hooked survivor in the middle, but believe it or not, most killers don't like to do that.

if you think using dead hard effectively is really as simple as just hitting E you're an idiot. No one had unbreakable. He went out of his way to message me and I was running Quick and quiet, lithe, DS, and BT. I literally didn't use DS because I didn't need to.
I don't see any reason to insult me like that, man; and it's a fact that with dedicated servers the way they are, dead harding for distance, which has ZERO counter, because it's done way out of reach of the killer, does NOT have a counter and is also the most effective way to use it these days. There's a difference between dead harding for distance and simply using it to avoid a hit. And yes - all you do in order to dead hard for distance is hit E.
If you're going to call someone an idiot...well. Never mind, I'm not like you. I don't need to insult people. :)

The 3 survivor perks have even easier direct counters.
Pop has no counters. The gen is being regressed no matter what.
DS has a direct counter that isn't slugging? Even if the exit gates are opened and they are within crawling distance to get there before their DS runs out? What if they have DS AND Unbreakable? Do tell.
Dead harding for distance has a counter? Do tell. And no, baiting doesn't work when it's for distance. Unbreakable has a counter, sure. Don't slug. I suppose. However, slugging is a key part of playing killer. So unbreakable is a counter, to a counter, that forces killers not to use their counter. My god, lol. In any case, saying "don't slug" as a counter to unbreakable is like telling a killer to slug as a counter to DS. It's stupid, and like a book full of plot holes.
Pop DOES have a counter. It's called repressed alliance, it's a perk that just came out with Pyramidhead. The survivor can block the gen from pop. Kind of like their version of thrilling tremors. Except this perk blocks the gen for 30 seconds instead of 16. Brush up on your game knowledge, bud. Then come back and try harder.

Ruin is not the only slowdown perk.
It's not, but all slowdown perks have counters. Literally, direct counters. Even pop.
-
@CWill22 said:
I just had a killer complain about the people on the team having DS, BT, and DH. But how do you complain about that and have NOED, Pop, BBQ and Ruin. How do you whine about meta builds and run a meta build. I've seen survivors do it too.
It's not really "meta builds" that are a problem, if you're running DS, BT, DH and Unbreakable, you definitely have a small penis.
Also, BBQ has a counter. A very easy counter (requires no perks, but there is also a perk that counters it). Pop also has a perk that counters it now. Ruin can be destroyed, and has multiple perks and items to help you find it, and NOED...well, NOED is literally the most counterable perk in the game. It can be destroyed before it's even had a chance to be used.
DS can only be "countered" by slugging, but slugging isn't a counter, cause that counter has a counter. It's called unbreakable. Even if they don't have unbreakable, DS can actually have situations where there is nothing but the killer can do but accept that they are going to get outplayed by a skillcheck and that survivor will escape. Dead hard can be baited, but baiting a "Deadheard for distance" play is nigh impossible, and can extend a loop by half a minute if done right, all because they hit "E". Borrowed time has counters, so I'll give you that.
So these aren't really good comparisons.

Like I said it is scummy but scummy plays are optimal in a competitive game.
DBD isn't a competitive game, though. It's literally 2 steps away from being a full fledged party game, lol
-
I mean, sometimes a killer has to play "dirty" - even though it's only really dirty by survivor standards. You shouldn't feel bad for it.
I don't go into a game of killer OR survivor thinking "Man, how can I make this fun for everyone?". I go into it thinking "Man, how can I maximize the fun factor for myself". You could call it selfish, but at the end of the day, killer or survivor, you paid for the game, to have fun. As did everyone else. It's not your job to provide them with a fun experience. You're not a babysitter. You have an objective, and you do it to the best of your ability, in any way you see fit within THE GAMES rules, the ones set by the devs. Not the imaginary book of spewed horse ######### written by the players.

I agree, but I don't want to overlook the idea that some survivors do play differently.
@jisp3r What? I had no clue. Been playing killer for three years and never realized that.
Try reading through and you will see the very real reason this is an issue.
Spare the silliness please.
They do play differently, but that's on a per person basis, not a per character basis. A Claudette crouched in a bush, who runs away at the slightest light up of Spine Chill should absolutely be making LESS points than a Nea who isn't afraid to get into a chase. Chasing is work, you get a LOT of points for it if you do it right - and yes, sometimes that requires using pallets.
-
Killer is the harder role to play, simply by nature of having to spread your pressure, and be strategic. There's only one of you as killer.
-
PoggU!? YOU MEAN RUNNING IN A CIRCLE IS NO LONGER UNREALISTICALLY POWERFUL? POGGERS?
-
The consensus is, only survivors are allowed to have devastating synergy with their perks. Can't have ruin working while a generator is taken over by thrilling tremors for 16 seconds, though. Nope. *too stronk ruin be*

This is completely untrue. First of all, both sides have to invest to get perks. As survivor, you max as many as you want, same as killer. I have 5 killers maxed and will likely never max any others. They are the five I like to run. I know several killer mains who have only one killer maxed because it is the only one they like to run. Nobody HAS to max 20 characters. That is a choice.
It's a choice, yes, but unlike survivors, killers actually have a unique reason to max out each character. They are all separate characters with separate strategies and abilities. Survivors are just reskins.

Killer is not that hard. I mean I have played many rounds as killer and dont even hook anyone once. I run around fooling around and maybe slug and let the people go and get an easy 15k without trying. How is that hard earning what Survivor side gets while they work and trying. I mean survivor side can do a ton of work and at average get 14-22k. As a killer we can literally run around acting foolish and get that in our sleep. lol
You are right killer side is harder though if you are a killer who needs to get that 4K every match and the 30+ k BP every match but it is super easy to get what the survivor side gets while they work hard while not trying at all as killer. I still enjoy playing survivor though from time to time. =)
I didn't say killer was "that hard". I said it was harder than survivor. Which it is. There's no arguing that.
And because it's harder than the opposing role (says every experienced player literally ever), and more is required of them, they are rewarded better.
-
@KnotEnthusiast said:

Yes, literally that. I should be rewarded as a player for mastering the mechanics of the game, and my experience should matter and help me win chases. Killers like Spirit, Deathslinger and PH all can get downs with very little possible input from the survivor, unless the killer is bad. And that's not the way the game should be, and therein lies the problem with BHVR's current design philosophy: They're so obsessed with making killers "anti-loop" that they've essentially removed survivor skill from the equation. It's just like old Legion, where going down isn't an "if" but a "when". So yes, when my thousand hours in this game is suddenly meaningless because the killer ignores survivor input, it is very boring.
Spirit and Deathslinger I can give you. Neither of which have any real tell. Pyramidhead is easy to loop though.
-
@Kellie said:

When people call a killer "boring" they don't mean they cant use the looping meta on them. Nurse for example is fun to play against. She has counters that are simple and it feels good outplaying a good nurse. She also requires you to play more stealthily instead of the usual aggressive gameplay. And at the same time she is still a strong killer
The Spirit is also a strong killer but she is considered boring due to her lack of counters and information. Without information or counters, the survivors will usually just go down in less than a minute of the chase.
Do you see why survivors call other killers boring and some not now? :)
Survivors also call Freddy, Legion, Huntress and Oni boring to go against. What's the excuse for that? lol
They may be powerful/annoying, but they have plenty of counters.
-
So basically "Give them slight buffs, but nerf all their good addons into the ground".
OOF. Awful.
-
I mean, this is one of the most ridiculous suggests I've ever seen.
-
If they want to do it RIGHT, they can NOT have it be an average of everyone in the party.
They would need to matchmake based on the highest MMR in the party. That's the only way for it to be fair.
And before you chime in and say "how is that fair for the lower skilled survivors?" - you have no ground there. Survivors make the choice to create an SWF party. Killers have no choice. Therefore, a lower level killer who didn't get to choose shouldn't be punished.
Period, end of story, any other answer is fundamentally wrong.
@Kai6864 said:
I’m going to have to say it will be highest MMR rating. That’s how SWF match makes now I think. You could have a rank 1 with 3 rank 20s and it could be easily abused. Although an average is a good idea, you can exploit the system by having newer friends and it’s likely that the rank 1 would be able to run the killer around the entire game.
The MMR system is for fairness and it isn’t exactly fair for the killer to be matched with someone so high above their skill level. You could say the same for the other 3 rank 20s if the MMR was based on the highest score but they chose to go as a coordinated team, the killer didn’t have a choice.
This guy gets it.

With this game, no. DBD is very inconsistent. One side can be doing more work than the other team.
So, again, you don't think that the killer role, which requires more attention, skill, strategy and work (since they are ONE person) shouldn't be rewarded more points as that one entity than the survivors, who are a team of FOUR??
Okay there, Captain Entitled, lol. 100% of the time, the killer is required to do more (unless they use a mori, in which they get significantly less bloodpoints anyway).
Go play killer, get good at the game, and you'll get more bloodpoints. If you don't wanna do the work, quite whining.

Why should that matter?
You don't think you should be better rewarded for having to do more than someone else?
Hello?
-
@SpaceCoconut said:
The easiest solution would be to average the MMR scores of the group and then match them to other players with a similar mmr.
100 & 10 swf duo would get matched up with 55 mmr solos & killer.
That kind of defeats the purpose of the MMR.

Devs really lifted bp and matchmaking block? really?
They lifted the DC penalty weeks ago, because hackers found a way to add ban time to big twitch streamers. It literally happened to tru3ta1ent on stream. They will be back at some point, but as of now they don't exist. There was no "patch notes" about this. I imagine it's not something BHVR want to advertise as it makes them look, well, incompetent to release a system with such a huge security hole.

@SloppyKnockout Yet Survivor is plagued by incredibly long wait timers. Why is it after a DLC drop, survivor wait times drop drastically? Because the killer sided population increased. Now, a month after SH, I'm back to seven plus minutes in survivor lobbies, and seconds as killer. Survivor holds the larger playerbase. Again, just look at the wait times. Sure, poor matchmaking attributes in part, I won't deny, yet that isn't all of it.

@SloppyKnockout It does matter. Survivor has the larger playerbase. Yes, you need both sides, but you cater to the larger side IF it brings in more cash. In this case, it does. The added draw of being able to party up with your friends is just the cherry on top.
No, it does not matter. Both sides must exist for the game to exist. If killers didn't exist, survivors would have no game, money would be dunzo.
And even more, I'll quote this again:
If you want to be technical, even, this game makes it's money from DLCs. Mostly. People mostly only buy the game when it's on a MASSIVE 80% off sale these days. Why do people buy the DLCs? I'll give you a hint - it's not for survivor perks. It's for the new killer.

You need 4x the amount of survivors for every killer. You can party up with your friends on top of that. Survivors are where the money is.
Doesn't matter how many of x side you need, you still need both sides. What you said doesn't invalidate my point. Both sides must exist, and be happy, for there to be any "money". Business 101.

The survivor is dependent upon the killer for good BP. If the killer face camps and the remaining survivors do gens and leave, as is the constant advice of killers on the forum, then the 3 escapees are hosed for BP at no fault of their own.
I'm just pointing out that survivor BP truly needs a bump, specifically in the o objectives, healing and non killer engagement aspects. There is tons of BP for looping the killer already.
It's the reason I moved to killer 3 years ago. The difference is astounding.
Both sides are dependent on each other for a good amount of BP. Again, what is your point?
@Peepo said:
I got 32k only a few times in 1k hours of playing survivor. Feels extremely imbalanced and depressing compared to killer bp.
It is not in any shape, or form imbalance. Killer is the harder role. They have more to do, and require more strategy. Therefore, they get more bloodpoints. Killers getting more BP is also seen as an incentive to play killer. So, if you want the BP, play killer. Earn it.

No, it was a rank 17 in the match getting tunneled to death by a rank 7 killer. The rest of us hit gens and escaped. You can't get BP if the killer is too focused on the one character. We tried body blocking and protecting her, but he did not care at all for anyone but her. So, yeah. It is what it is.
It's why I am playing killer though.
If the killer tunnels one person, they aren't getting a lot of BP either. What's your point?
