To counter BT and DS just don't tunnel and camp plus even if they're used it doesn't guarantee your survival unless killer was playing bad in the first place. Unbreakable is the only perk which counters an otherwise helpless boring strategy but even then its a rare use perk I even did tests with it at red ranks and only got to actually make use out of it 3/100 games. Dead Hard yeah I'll give you that one lol.
"JuSt DoN'T tUnNeL"
So, if I hook someone, and before I have the chance to get away, the person is unhooked right in front of me. Am I supposed to just allow that? Where's the counter for that?
If I hook someone and they have deliverance during the EGC when the gate is opened, and they unhook themselves, but I down them...they now have DS. Where's the counter for that?
If I hook someone and go, find, and hook 2 other people, then find the first guy and down them, but they still have DS up...was I tunneling?
Lay off the entitled excuses. DS is far from anti tunnel, and BT is used FAR MORE for hook dive bombing than it is to combat campers.

OR they're survivors that know gen time is too precious to spend 2+ minutes searching and cleansing totems to avoid an unfair loss. Literally equipped or not NOED rewards bad killers
If NOED, the most counterable perk in the game, rewards "bad killers"...and isn't even a meta perk...tell me, what does DS, Unbreakable, BT and Dead Hard do? Those are all meta.

Because to some people it feels unfair. Even though it isnt.
the problem with it is the lack of feedback it gives. It is really difficult to cleanse all 5 totems in solo.
No it's not. I do it almost every game, and I play solo exclusively.
And as for feedback - it's glaringly obvious (comes with experience, as all things should) that a killer is running NOED by how they play during the match. Plus, if NOED has actually proc'd, you can see it. The killer moves FAST.

Because "whaaaaa, cleansing totems r 2 hrd fr meeee"

Just out of a match as Deathslinger on Midwich, with the survivors ending up with the worst 3gen possible on that map:
1 in the courtyard by a door, 2 directly left and right of said door.
(after roughly 10-15 min I just waved them to get one done, I have a heart after all. It's dark as the night before dawn, but I have a heart)
It's not really about having a heart. If you do it long enough, and you refuse to commit to chases (to progress the game) when you chase them off the gen for a long enough time, it's, if I'm not mistaken, considered taking the game hostage.

Not sure why that's sweaty.
I look at it differently - people use strong ######### so they don't have to sweat.

Unbreakable DS is the small PP survivor build.
Iri head, infantry belt and ebony mori. The small PP killer build.
why do either of these things exist. BHVR plz
The issue with the small pp killer build is, it's actually pretty rare.
In contrast, the small pp survivor build is actually not only common, it's literally meta.

Works fine for me, as it has for others. So.. there MAY be something wrong with the system. But it doesn't affect everyone.
Are you implying that somehow, even though we all have the same pushed codebase, your game somehow functions differently than literally everyone else?
Or maybe you're just happy facing newbie survivors/killers because it boosts your ego.

Yes. Not every idea of BHVR's makes sense, and most of them are failures...but damn it, those are their ideas.

Hexy is one of my favorites to watch.
He's abrasive, but I enjoy how he plays killer. Not only does he disregard the survivor rule book, he defalcates on it, and then burns it.
Other than that, TricksterShadow is a chill dude. As is Polysypher.

The same as I've said all the way through, since this was announced. If you care to read my posts on the matter you will find I've said exactly the same thing about it since it was released earlier this week!
What ever happened to all that "we're gathering data for your MMRs" that we heard months ago? Was that not specifically to avoid the issues we're seeing now?

This question has a lot of variables when answered (which killer, which add ons, which perks, etc). It also depends how aggressive you’re playing and you’re own skill level. Also, there’s no way to determine 4 people are all running DS/Unbreakable.
with that said:
If you’re running Ruin: the goal is gen pressure, hit, push people off, rotate. Down if they path to a bad area. Know when to take a hit or a pallet. You need a hit or pallet in 15-20 seconds or you need to drop chase and rotate. If you get a hit and they ran to a bad area, down them. If they ran to a decent area, leave them.
if you’re running corrupt, know spawn points. Go there. Follow above advice.
There’s a lot more that can said that is so dependent on game situation and skill
Even the best killers who play the game will tell you - when it comes to a decent SWF group with the small pp build, there is no win. You just have to hope to god they screw up; and even then, survivors (and even moreso with SWF) have so many outs to their own screw ups, you're probably losing anyway unless you're running some super oppressive Nurse/Oni/Billy/Spirit build, or Freddy. But if you do that, you're a "toxic sweaty tryhard".
You're damned if you do you're damned if you don't.

Out of curiosity which story would you be repeating? The first one, the second or the third?

The answer is - you don't.
Just take the L and accept that you got "outplayed".
But don't you dare use any killer "crutch perks". Cause that would make you "sweaty" and "boring".

Just open up matchmaking to everyone. No ranks, nothing. Prioritize queue times.
Sometimes you'll face newbies, sometimes you'll face god squads/god tier killers. Who cares? It's a video game that's 2 steps away from being a party game.

Friends aren't always available. Besides, sometimes the point of map exploration is research. Best done alone, IMO

Great response. 10/10 lol. And no i am indeed not new. So unless you wanna continue talking I'll take that as you having nothing to respond with
Most recently, the MMR system. They told us, outright, months ago, they were collecting info for our MMRs so the situation were are in now would be avoided. Now they won't even acknowledge that and have actually said everything is fresh, indicating an outright lie.
Again - get a clue, then talk to me.

Uhh, got any evidence? They have been pretty transparent about what they can answer.
Sure people can get mad at the game having a lot of bugs but that doesnt mean their company is shady and dishonest. I would assume the worst recent event is what they described as a legendary set but that aint an actual problem. Everyone knows why they are linked anyways.
Please do tell me when bhvr has been dishonest and shady
You must be new.
Get a clue, do your research, get some experience, and get back to me.
Transparency has never been their MO.

It's called constructive criticism. A bashing thread provides nothing constructive, nothing productive.
It's also done much in HR before you hand out bad news, you say something they're doing great, something you LOVE that they're doing, and then you give them bad news.
One could argue that in BHVR's case, bashing is almost warranted. I don't think they've earned the right to "constructive criticism" with their...work as of late.

It doesnt matter the MMR is a blank slate, a newcomer shouldnt be put against someone with 500 hours no matter what, even if they never played the Killer they selected, a M1 Killer with no power and no perks in the hands of someone with that time will totally obliterate people with less than 50 hours, and Im talking about people with 500 hours that are not even that many, if we go to people with 2000 or 3000 hours the thing becomes like putting a regular person against Muhammad Ali in his prime in a boxing ring.
Actually lets compare this to boxing, you go to the gym, see they give courses for amateurs, you try it, you like it, decide to give it a try, congratulations, your first sparring match is against Muhammad Ali and boy he is in for some really sweaty time and ready to beat you in a way you didnt even know was possible, Im not sure if anyone would keep learning boxing after that first experience.
The algorithm should have a failsafe to avoid veterans being paired against/with newcomers, especially if they have been collecting data for 1 or 2 months like they say.
It wasn't supposed to be a blank slate. BHVR told us they were collecting MMR data MONTHS ago to prevent this discrepancy from happening. Now you can't even get them to acknowledge that they said that, cause their know it's horse #########.

I'm sorry that you had this experience, it's obviously not the type of experience that we want our players to have in their early games.
The new MMR system went live a few days ago, it's obviously going to take some time to get the system to where we want it to be - but I appreciate that's not what people want to hear right now.
All I can do is assure you the Developers are receiving this feedback and that I sincerely hope these mismatched games will soon be a thing of the past.
So basically, you guys flat out lied to us that MMR tracking was being done in the background prior to it's release to prepare for the MMR?

I think it's excessive to recommend this after 3 days of a new MMR system. In theory, if the system works, they might get stomped for a few games (which was normal before too, let's be serious), and then they'll start 1) learning how to play and 2) getting matched against worse killers. If that doesn't happen agreed, the algorithm probably needs work.
Could it be improved to better take care of new players? Sure, probably. In theory, though, if the algorithm works, the experience will just get better and better for everyone as time goes on.
It's not just the MMR system. Even without that, the game is straight up inaccessible to new players.

They said they want to add separate voice to Legendary skins so it is possible. And it would make more sense for Legendary characters to be based on someone from the same license..
It's more than possible to have different voices per cosmetic. They did it with Legion nearly 2 years ago.

It's simple math. What's there to be confused. You are the one confusing Death Hook with Struggle Hook phase. Even the devs call it that. In the Hint screen they call it Struggle Phase. There ARE 3 stages to hooking. 1 you hang and bleed out into 2nd stage you struggle.
I didnt word it any more different. It's common sense ... Death Hook is the 3rd last time they've been hooked and die to. Death. 🤷♂️
Your original post was "mori should work after *2nd unhooked status*".
Which would mean, their next hook being their death. Making the mori essentially useless. So again, it's an awful idea and you should just remove mori's at that point as they will no longer be worthy of an offering.
-
Of course they should.
Your MMR shouldn't go down drastically if you spawned into Blood Lodge as Wraith. Nor should it go up drastically if you spawned into the same map as Huntress.

Find another game? I've never heard so much groaning and so on. If you think the game is that bad, leave. They do a pretty darn good job and apparently it is thankless one too. Seriously, would all you people hating on the guys supporting the game you play for a ridiculous number of hours like a little cheese with your whine?
Grab yourself a pen and paper, and write a rebuttle instead of antagonizing me. Then you'll be allowed to have an opinion.
Okay, pumpkin?
:)
-
If you're new to the game, the best thing I can suggest to you is to get a refund.
Don't get me wrong, I love Dead by Daylight, and I hope one day it's in a state where I can recommend it to others...but as of now, ESPECIALLY for new players, it's just not a fun experience. Thanks to BHVR's broken MMR (and it's broken, cram it up your rectal cavity with this "it's evening out" crap) you'll be having precisely zero fun no matter which side you play, as a new player.
Pair that with the fact that the game is just plain inaccessible for new players. The investment required in both time and money to get to even a half decent spot in this game is FAR too much. It's an excessive grind.
-
I think it's time BHVR stops blatantly insulting our intelligence, and be transparent with us.

I've never heard a video game company say that hacks are easy to detect. What are you basing that info on?
point 2 is a general rule of thumb that companies use
I'm basing it on reality, and the fact that public hacks exist, and usually result in fairly immediate bans. Hacks are, as I said, easy to detect, unless they are private hacks that haven't been added to a database of known hacks.
You didn't use your second point as a "rule of thumb". You stated it as fact, when it's not.

3rd hook is Death Hook. Automatic sacrifice to the Entity.
2nd hook is Struggle Hook. You are fighting off being sacrificed but have the chance to be rescued still. I say Struggle Hook Saves activates a Mori. My suggestion is either Hook them a 3rd time to sacrific to the Entity. Or go with your instincts as a killer and Mori the survivor, but for less points (Which some Altruistic Survivors still do when seeing a Struggle phase friend. And if they let them die during a Struggle Hook phase. Well 🤷♂️)
You worded your original post poorly, then. We have widely accepted terminology for these things and you went and created your own ultra confusing terminology.

I'm still not sure if MMR is inconsistent or if all of the potatoes on the forum are surprised they're not as good as they think they are lol. I haven't played much killer with the new MMR, but with survivors my teammates have been consistently competent. That has never been the case before even at rank 1. I've been loving it.
There's elements of both - but when you see someone like ANGRYPUG (who may be an ass most of the time, but it can't be argued he's one of the best streamers to play survivor) for example get paired with rank 20 survivors against rank 1 killers consistently since this change, it's shows the inconsistency.

To be fair. I suggested 2nd Unhook. Meaning Death Hook is 3rd, Given a Mori option (which is less points) or finish them off anyways on 3rd final hook as a sacrifice (for the amount lotted for Sacrifices) (that said. I personally do hook all 4 and not tunnel, before I decide to start using Mori, so I technically agree to hooking them all first. But also for that one buttnut who seems cocky. I tend to be done with them quickly. That's just me. I Do however feel activating a Mori would work once a Killer has chased a Savior away a certain amount of distance, possibly been looped but got the upper hand. Much like activating Bloodlust, which then allows the use of a Mori kill. But I'll assume even that solution will be debated)
If you're unhooked twice, you are on your death hook. Again, making mori's useless.

A Nancy Thompson legendary skin for Quentin is one I would actually pay the $15 for. THAT would actually be one worth the money.
