The truth is that the game could run just fine on console if the devs devote the resources to it. Plenty of games do it, with better graphics and run butter smooth. However we are merely an afterthought to them. They literally put in the bare minimum effort to get it functioning on console.

Again, not saying it's a well optimized game, but there are also other factors.

The game has an ambiance and atmosphere that needs to be maintained because it's a core part of the gameplay and balance. Map fog, debris scattering, shadows, draw distance etc. To lower any of those to help with performance (with the possible exception of draw distance, like they did with Switch) would probably create balance issues.

People don't believe me but i always say this. Pig has NO counterplay and has disgusting combo. She can't UNLOOPABLE because of this addon. You can't hide too because she always see you with WHISPERS. If you don't believe me watch this DISGUSTING video.

    Spine Chill.

Look, I found counterplay. And it's even a meta perk. POGGERS, my dude!

Imagine complaining about Pig, one of the weakest killers in the game...because one of her Ultra Rare addons is...wait...mildly powerful? You don't say!

  • A better idea - remove chat all together. Would curb a lot of the toxicity.

Well I went against my first PC huntress and she ragequit, lol

Keep in mind - the MMR was just disabled (meaning its back to rank based matchmaking), and while it was enabled, it allowed a lot of potato baby killers to get to red ranks because the game was feeding them baby survivors. So, now we have the issue of baby killers now being at red ranks. Thanks BHVR! lol

  • I won't disagree with you that he may or may not need a cooldown - but I have no issues pallet looping Pyramidheads. 90% of them fake almost constantly, and when they don't, their M2 is ridiculously easy to dodge.

    I hate these elitist comments.

Bro, my Xbox X can run Gears 5 at 60 FPS 4k no problem. But DBD plays like someone shoved a turd in my disc drive. It's the game not the platform. Devs don't give a single fat ######### about console players, if they actually devoted the resources to it this game could run at a butter smooth 60 FPS on Xbox.

It's not an elistist comment. Up until a couple years ago I did most of my gaming on a PS4. Truth isn't elitist. It's truth that your average PC is more capable. It's truth that consoles are made of inherently weaker hardware with the purpose of lower energency consumption and high efficiency. It's truth that weaker hardware performs weaker. Nobody is saying DBD is well optimized - but to sit there and expect top quality performance out of your console based on tech from 2013 (yes, even the One X is using an architecture from 2013)...my dude get real. There's a reason that RDR2, one of the best optimized and most beautiful games of the last couple years, doesn't even have graphical settings on PC low enough to match what it looked like on consoles.

    How so?

They already have this for Killers (such as Plague and Freddy/Legion).

What benefit does a male survivor have if there is a balance? Because Iron Will exists so making less noise (not always the case as well) isn't a positive and no perk shrinks your frame.

Killers are different. Killers have a terror radius.

Iron Will and survivors being shorter are not the same thing, and that's a false argument. Iron Will makes you quieter. It doesn't make you potentially invisible if you crouch in a bush - and that's already a thing that happens with certain survivors wearing certain outfits.

Survivors being shorter or taller would actually mess with balance because the game depends on killers being able to find them. More specifically short survivors. I shouldn't be having to tell you this. It's common sense.

  • @Rin_is_my_waifu said:

Nope. There still are strech resolution abusers, hackers, that program who tells you the killer before a match, game file modifications and the list goes on.

Stretched res is likely being patched out soon.

Hackers are exceedingly rare unless you're a streamer who is being stream sniped. In 3500 hours on PC I've seen one hacker.

That program that tells you who the killer is was patched. It doesn't work anymore.

Game file modifications? You mean custom perk icons? Oh yeah. *huge advantage there*.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

If you think the frame rate is "fine" for survivors on consoles you are delusional.

Get hit with Sloppy then tell me it's fine.

######### crossplay. Until DBD runs at a stable 60 FPS on Xbox I'm turning that ######### off.

"Until DBD runs at a stable 60 fps for Xbox"

My dude - if you wanted stable framerates, let alone a stable 60fps, you shouldn't have went to way of consoles.

  • The problem with this is, as per the norm with the DBD community, they'll try it for a few games, have bad games, and "crossplay" will be the scapegoat because nobody in this community can ever accept that they just lose sometimes.

    That goes for all platforms.

Killer gets beat by a group of decent solos. Says "sick SWF" in end game chat. Loss validation.

Survivor gets sacrificed. Says "My teammates ######### me" in the end game chat. Loss validation.

Green rank killer gets beat by purple rank survivors, and in the end game chat they say "Stupid matchmaking". Loss validation. Even though survivor rank is so easy there's potatoes in red ranks.

It's a curse of the DBD community. Crossplay will be the new loss validation.

We want crossplay, just not with a platform that has double the FPS and better controls. Most (not all) console players feel the same, where Xbox, PS4 and Switch have the same issues, where no one platform has an advantage over the others. Thanks for your suggestion though 😊

Better controls is purely subjective; and the FPS different doesn't make that much of a difference, especially because you're using a controller. I've got about 1500 hours on PS4, and over 3500 on PC.

What people need to consider that is not just a mechanical (KB&M) advantage PC players have over consoles. Their version is far more optimized than console - a recent thread on FPS on consoles took 8 pages to get a Dev response so that they would just look at it.

They also have more tools to that give them an advantage in the game. Dowsey made a video a few months back - where you can enable spatial sounds (Windows Sonic) on windows 10 and gain a distinct advantage. Link below.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLy4uwyQTpU

Then you have players who play on stretched resolution on PC to gain an advantage. Adetha's video below.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szAzuH1uLB8

I am sure there are other tools that PC player may use. I am not against crossplay between consoles and PC - but they need to be on a near level playing field before you can do so.

It would be fair to have an option between consoles only available so that players can decide. Opting out of crossplay seems that your queue time may increase - as other console players may be matched instead with PC players (i.e. small matchmaking pool for platform only MM).

Stretched res will be patched relatively soon I assume; and as for spatial sound, console have that same type of technology in them. Not sure what you're on about. KB and Mouse is only an advantage when playing killer. Not survivor. There's nothing you can't do with a controller when playing survivor that you can on a keyboard and mouse. Since you're not facing other killers when playing killer, that's a non issue. The only thing console survivors will need to get used to is that good Nurses, good Huntresses and good Deathslingers exist.

  • @Sinister0208 said:

Being a 'POC' - I rather have some shorter male/taller female survivors in the game.

Short/Tall would actually mess with balance. That's why that isn't a thing.

  • To go into even more detail..

There are 20 killers in the game. 2 of them aren't even human so they *do not* count (DemoPls and Pyramidhead), 1 of them we don't even know their race (Ghostface).

    The rest:

Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Myers, Hag, Doctor, Huntress, Bubba, Freddy, Pig, Clown, Spirit, Legion, Plague, Oni, Deathslinger.

Out of those 17 killers, Wraith (Black), Hag (Black), Doctor (Black), Spirit (Asian), Legion (I believe Joe is black, and Susie is Asian..?), Plague (Egyptian) and Oni (Asian) are of color.

Again, basically half the cast of killers. Of course I'd welcome more, but knock that "this game isn't diverse" crap off. Actual virtue signalling. Literally half the entire cast, killer or survivor, is of another ethnicity.

This is a game developed by a diverse crew in one of the most diverse cities you'll ever visit. DBD has a LOT of issues. DIVERSITY IS CLEARLY NOT ONE OF THEM.

  • It's Candyman. DLC comes out within days of the Candyman movie release.

  • OR, and stick with me here, the devs can make whatever they want, and write their own lore without worrying about people saying "oh my god this doesn't fit my political views". It's called artistic and creative freedom. If they want to make a black, brown, asian or white etc character, who cares. Let them do what they want creatively.

Besides - if you really want to play the "representation" card, there's literally one hispanic survivor, and one "brown" survivor. I wouldn't mind some representation for my identity, being hispanic myself. But at the same time, I really don't care. I'd just assume keep maining Bill because it's a video game. A creative work.

Stop telling artists what they should and should not create.

Wrong, Ebony Mori is toxic by design:

    1. it requires very little effort to pull off 1 hook, and the individual survivor gets severely punished without having any counter.
    2. even in a 1v4, having a free instakill is more game affecting than instaheals(and they removed instaheals because they were "too punishing for killers"). Using them, by default, knowing their impact but ignoring that for personal pleasure, is toxic. So the use of any Ebony Mori by default is toxic.
    3. Let alone that there is a perk that has the same effect as an Ebony Mori, and you have to get 1 extra hook to kill everyone and it can be removed from the game by any survivor at any moment of the game. Meaning there is a nerfed version of an offering, that requires a perk slot by its own and is a removable perk, that is balanced use. So in what universe is using an Ebony Mori not toxic? Non-toxic players do not use Ebony Mori, period. At best they use it to scare people when they are playing a weaker killer, but even then its just to keep survivors on edge.

I could continue on others, like iri head huntress. Any slug camp build is toxic. Those all exist. Yes, players are toxic, but its the toxic build that gives away toxic players. Non-toxic players do not, I repeat, DO NOT use toxic builds. I've never seen someone like Otz run Iri Head Ebony Mori Huntress when he plays Huntress, the only time I've seen him do things like that was to show people why he doesnt run it.

And ever heard of hyperbole? If you did read, then you would see that later on I state the following:

"And ofcourse, you have people who abuse the lack of dc time penalty to avoid matches vs killers they do not like. However, that percentage is far lower than the amount of people who abuse the dc time penalty to torture survivors as much as they can. As long as killers act more toxic with the dc penalty in place than survivors dodge matches by dc'ing early in the match, the dc penalty can never be implemented the way it is now."

Just like your "every other game since the penalty has been disabled, has someone disconnected on first down, regardless of the build? Last night, it happened 9 times, in 3 hours. 4 of which were with PIG, one of which was with Clown, and another with Wraith." Is hyperbole, because I play killer too, and I have only encountered 1 dc on the first down after playing 7 hours of killer, using a build that some people would find terrifying. In fact, the only reason I can think off that you could have that many in such a short time was being matched up against people of a much lower rank. Because guess what? That 1 dc I had was from a yellow rank while im a red rank killer.

Point being, the penalty being in place is worse for the game than the penalty not existing. Sure, the penalty being in place might be an improvement for killer only players, but as someone who enjoys both roles roughly equally, the punishment is much, MUCH worse for the game overall. I mean, what is 9 dc's over 3 hours vs 6 killers slug camping as many people as possible over the course of 2 hours?

Assuming the average matchtime being 10 minutes, meaning 18 matches, with 72 survivors and 9 survivors disconnecting is at most 12,5% of matches being from anywhere between ruined to okay(lets not forget the fact that 1 survivor alive can screw over an entire team, meaning they are better off dead early game anyway), while you have 12 matches, 6 of which ruining the game for at least 1/4th of the players. Thats at least 12,5% of matches being bad. And the 12,5% is assuming the killer only is able to slug camp 1 survivor over the entire game. All they need is an iri head huntress, billy or bubba to get a second slug quite quick. That leaves only 2 people left to do gens while the other 2 will be angry at the killer and the other 2 survivors for them being downed, even though the other 2 survivors cannot possibly pick them up. Now, thats 4 people in the game that are affected by 1 player, while a dc doesnt neccesarily impacts the other 4 people. So even with just 1 person slug camped with the killer trying to force a dc penalty on a survivor will have a bad impact on everyone no matter what and is common enough to be game breaking.

So yes, the dc penalty is worse than the lack of dc penalty. Even though the lack of dc penalty is bad, the current dc penalty is worse. That was the entire point. And if you refuse to read the rest before ignorantly responding to a comment of mine, just dont leave a comment at all, because that makes you part of the problem.

Writing an essay doesn't make you right. It just means you take yourself too seriously.

You're still wrong. If it's in the game and being used as intended, it is not toxic. Period. No other answer is correct.

You not liking something does not make it toxic.

    Geez so malicious.

    Its just a game, remember.

If you feel that badly about it you don’t have to play it.

No need to make a team of people feel terrible as well that are just trying to make the best game they can with their resources whilst also trying to make a living out of it.

I can like something at it's core, and still recognize awful/half-assed decisions. The two aren't mutually exclusive. It's not malicious. I don't want, or intend to do them harm. It's called tough love. I love the game, I'm just pissed off they can't seem to do what's right for the game and it's health.

With BHVR - this is a company that even it's own partners, the Fog Whisperers, actively state "they don't listen to anyone, including us". They pump out DLC after DLC, cosmetic after cosmetic, battle pass after battle pass, and yet there's issues and bugs that have been in the game for years. They have actual open betas (PTBs) and do almost nothing to rectify most reported issues in them (see Oni release). They outright lie to us and say "we haven't touched Hillbilly's animations" (Deathslinger patch), when they clearly did. They didn't listen to community veterans when they said an MMR will NOT work for an ASYMMETRICAL GAME with no binary win condition based so much on RNG. That's not even mentioning the whole "we're collecting data so when the MMR system goes live you'll have a roughly calculated MMR" crap we heard from them months ago....that they won't even address now, because it either never happened, or it was clearly disregarded.

White Knight all you want, but after 4 years, people need to stop pulling punches.

  • I don't feel bad. Screw that.

They have such a huge track record of half-assing things, they deserve everything they get.

  • Guess that makes Otz toxic - since he does much the same thing when he's being defeated in game.

As well - the guy had no idea it was your girlfriend. So you're taking it a tad bit personal.

The counter to DS is slugging though. When I smack a survivor that has just been unhooked, I don't do it because I expect to immediately re-hook them. I do it for the extra pressure. I expect them to get back up. If they have Unbreakable, so be it, at least they've been down and useless for a moment while I go find someone else and they now have 3.5 perks instead of 4. If they need someone else to come pick them up, even better.

I don't use DS myself because it doesn't do anything in most of my games. I find that, against a killer who plays correctly, the only time you could use DS would be if you've been unhooked next to an opened exit gate and they have no choice but to pick you up. That situation just doesn't happen often enough for me to waste a perk slot on DS. I also don't know how often survivors escape on you like that for you to be so upset about it (in one of your later comments), but this has happened to me exactly once in the eight months I've been playing this game. I can live with that.

Finally, I'd like to add that providing logic and reasoning doesn't necessarily make someone right about something. You can't be objectively right about something subjective like 'is this perk combination too strong?'. You might say yes, and others might say no. Both parties would have their own logic and reasoning. Neither party would be objectively right.

If the counter to DS is slugging (when there's even a counter to that, which is currently high up in meta), then the counter to getting camped is "lol don't get caught".

Thats exactly the one situation i talked about. But okay, i guess youre not happy without a free kill.

I don't think you know what "free" means. Consult your nearest dictionary. It wouldn't be a free kill - the killer earned it. It's called the survivor getting a free escape. Despite earning nothing. There is no version of this where you are anything other than entitled - and you're certainly not right.

Wait, if there is 1 survivor left that isn't hooked, why did you even let the unhook happen? There's literally no reason to leave a hook at that point in the game.

And why are you not staying close to the survivor in this scenario? This seems like a series of mistakes by the Killer.

Dedicated servers being what they are, even if you don't leave the hook, there's a 50/50 chance the grab will actually work.

All factors need to be taken into account.

For ultimate SWF destruction, you need Agitation, Iron Grasp, Mad Grit and a perk of your choice to go with those. We call it the "Fruit Ninja Build". Much fun.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

So what? DS is just remarkable under a specific situation, otherwise its just ineffective. Same goes for Unbreakable. It brings Zero benefit if the killer doesnt play wrong. Stop complaining about non issues you make up cause youre bad.

You have 2 kills in the game. Exit gates are opened. You have a third survivor on the hook, and you want to ensure your kill. They get unhooked, but you immediately slug them. Except, the door is opened...and they have DS. So, no matter what, unless they miss that skill check, they get away for free.

Guess the killer played bad. DS clearly had zero benefit there. It was "just ineffective".

  • We both know Huntress is getting an overheat mechanic on her hatchets. They'll call it the "carpal tunnel system", where if she throws X amount of hatchets, she ends up with chronic pain and can no longer throw hatchets for a 60 second cooldown. You can speed up this process by going to lockers and retrieving pain killers.

Funny because Pop has a 60 second CD and so does DS.

POP gets activated by hooking a survivor and DS activates by being unhooked.

Invincibility? How so? Can't you slug? Can't you go for someone else? Why are you bitching about ONE survivor out of 4?

    I don't understand your complaint.

I notice you, as per the norm, failed to address the entirety of my post and instead cherry picked things convenient for you. Typical DS reliant survivor.

    But, to humor you:

Funny because Pop has a 60 second CD and so does DS.

Pop is earned. DS is not. You didn't earn anything by getting caught and getting unhooked.

Invincibility? How so? Can't you slug?

As I said, unbreakable exists. You can't "just slug". There's literally a counter to the killers counter, therefore the killers "counter" isn't really a counter at all. Even more, what happens when they have DS, and get unhooked when the door opened during EGC? Did they "earn" that escape? Is there a counter to that? No on both accounts. Be less one sided. I want DS to be anti tunnel, not free invincibility. I would have ZERO issues if it functioned as anti tunnel and had conditions on it to make it so if you parade yourself in the killers face or do anything to progress the game, it was disabled.

Can't you go for someone else? Why are you bitching about ONE survivor out of 4?

It's not about going for someone else. Anyone who plays a lot of killers KNOWS they get hit with DS when the killer isn't even tunneling. Do you know how often I have hooked 1 person, kicked their gen that was about 70-80% complete, went and hooked someone else, came back to the original generator I kicked just to get DS'd and have the gen done in my face? I guess *i WaS TuNnElInG!!11!!".

You don't have a valid opinion with your texas sized bias.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

You have to get hooked to get your DS and it's only 60 seconds, then it goes away.

Pop and BBQ can be used at most 12 times. Not saying their OP, but neither is DS.

DS is OP, though. It needs conditions, like both Pop and BBQ have. All it is now is 60 seconds of invincibility. What did the survivor do to earn it? Screw up by getting caught.

Pop has a condition - you have to chase, hit a survivor twice, pick them up and hook them to even use it; and survivors still have a counter to it in Repressed Alliance. Same with BBQ - except in addition to the aforementioned conditions, the killer also has to hope to god the survivors aren't doing one of the many counters to it's aura reading (which isn't even the main reason people use it).

When it comes to DS - it has a "counter". Slugging. Though, saying slugging is a counter to DS is like saying "don't get caught" is a counter to camping; but I'll humor you and say sure, the DS counter is slugging. But then Unbreakable exists. A counter to the killers counter. Both of which are high up in survivor meta.

But yes, a perk that has one counter, where that counter has it's own counter, isn't overpowered. You have no idea what balance is.

Because i feel like if they dont learn to not ######### around the hook and learn when to safe unhook, then i am going to get called a "camper". I just want to ask, is this camping?

Im just posting this since this kind of made me question all this.

    Thanks for reading

There is no rule against camping. Whether or not you know they are close to the hook. You should be playing how you want.

edit: Also, your friend is a dick.

Evolve was an absolutely incredible game completely ruined by aggressive over-monetization, severe lack of tutorialization, and awful balancing.

Sounds kind of familiar, when I put it that way...

Indeed. Was sad when that game died.

When they unveiled that the best monster in the game was behind a paywall, the writing was on the wall - cause they nerfed all the other monsters up to that point to the point where even a half decent team turned it into a pushover.

That being said, Turtle Rock, the company behind Evolve, is making a "spiritual successor" to Left 4 Dead called "Back 4 Blood". I hope they don't screw it up the same way. L4D is very close to my heart. Some of the most fun I've ever had in a game.

  • We've known their PR department was ass for years.

One of the most recent best examples of that was how they explained the ruin nerf, and the Doctor rework earlier this year. Sure they turned out great, but there's no way they looked at how the patch notes for each were worded and thought "nobody will hate this".

  • We've been asking for at the VERY least a colorblind option since LITERALLY 2016.

BHVR doesn't give a crap; HOWEVER, they need to realize, it's 2020. If you're going to blatantly ignore those with disabilities, you can get cancelled over that. So they better hop to it.

  • I'd imagine they are probably trying to implement a way to put charms in the store as well before they do this.

  • I have a set of reasons I'll bring a mori:

    1. Blendette (one or more)
    2. Someone I know to be an arrogant survivor.
    3. Someone I know who is a friend and will find it funny.
    4. Daily to kill by my hand.
  • What has BHVR learned? That Dead by Daylight was a 1/1,000,000 one hit wonder. BHVR hadn't had any real success before DBD, and has a zero percent success rate after DBD.

just finished a match as killer. A Quentin told me he reported me because I “teamed” with a survivor. So last 2 remaining. A feng and the Quentin. They were both at a gen. I went for Quentin and killed him. Then I gave feng hatch. He said I was teaming because I avoided the injured feng and went for him instead. Is this bannable?

    No.

You killed one and gave the other hatch. If that was bannable, there'd be no killers in the game. Dude is just uber-salt because you didn't give the hatch to him.

Low key - I wouldn't give any Quentin hatch either.

Pop should not be nerfed! I didn’t suggest a nerf! It still the same: you have 60 seconds after hooking someone to kick a gen and make it lose 25% of the entire repair progress. The idea is to close the gap between pop and non-pop users!

Oh - I misread. My bad. Either way, I don't really think it needs to be touched for now. When the time comes, if old maps are ever properly balanced (and believe it or not, BHVR, aside from Midwich, has been doing a decent job of that lately) in size/accessibility, I'd say nerf Pop, even if slightly.

  • Maps need to be addressed before Pop is ever touched. Maps being addressed would also remedy a lot of what Unbreakable is used for, because a lot of killers tend to slug PURELY for pressure because gen pressure, with certain killers on certain maps is nearly impossible.

You can't rip off the bandaid before fixing the very thing the bandaid was designed to remedy.

Besides - Pop has a direct counter. It's called Repressed Alliance.

  • One thing nobody else is mentioning;

It's been confirmed that every cosmetic on the rift will appear in the store at some point. So unless you're a die hard completionist (in which case you wouldn't be complaining) or you just really want those charms for some reason, there's really no reason to complain.

I can finish the entire battle pass of apex legends when I do the entire season NOTHING but start playing 1 week before it ends. Try that with dbd. Oh Wait, you telling me I have to play EVERYDAY multiple hours (not even considering lobby times) and I don't even get that great stuff compared to the battle pass of apex? Oh damn.

I mean, maybe DBD isn't your type of game if you don't think the stuff you get is so great. Even more, if you don't think the battlepass rewards are good, why are you complaining? Just don't do the rift lol

  • The best killer in the game is free.
