unfortunately, i believe this would be incredibly hard to implement due to players needing access to assets and functions that are built into the engine. licensing is also a major issue since some assets have licenses on them, and i don't think they'd be allowed for public use.
in addendum, this would require the creation of modification support, which is a lot more work to do in itself. you have to essentially create a whole new set of code and functions in order to make something open source, and you have to figure out how you'll be able to make sure that there's ways for ease of access.

we love you dude, and i personally wish you the very best. <3

i never laughed so hard at a screenshot in my life oml

as far as i can see, huntress hasn't received any sort of update. it's not noted in patch notes or anything at all! o_o'
-
with all things considered, recoding the game from the ground up would take years, even with a full team of programmers.
there's a lot of assets that have to be managed and scripted. the only thing they can do is fix things in parts at a time, hence why patches are a thing!

i believe that killers seem to come after claudettes more due to the whole stigma behind them, "claudettes hide all the time and/or are toxic players" due to how often players tend to show up like that. i'm not justifying that it's right, but i suppose it's been an ongoing reason that cannot really be easily changed, since there's always going to be that one claudette that takes things a little too far.
i'm not saying all claudettes are like this! i've met a lot of funny claudette players, it's just that it's common enough that people gain negative association. ^^'
-
it's not exactly a secret, but i simply just made it a point to smack as many people as possible. for some reason there's something satisfying about smacking someone. LMAO
-
unfortunately, i'll have to disagree. like most people have said; NOED is used as punishment for survivors not clearing totems that they come across, or at least gives them an incentive to do them. i don't think it's really meant to reward the killer for doing poorly, as it's also seen as a last ditch effort against a strong team.
-
i still play killer because i love playing as demogorgon and smacking people. :>

I enjoy playing because potatoes make killer less stressful. Of course if I face 5 non-potatoes in a row I'm swapping to survivor lol.
i understand you. it's always nice to get the occasional potato, but it seems like the more altruistic side of survivors have been coming out recently, and i've been facing them more than i have with potatoes. and i can't quite switch to survivor either, since i deal with many more problems there. (i'll save that for another thread, though.)

do what I do you don't need to go hard just catch someone and camp him and the others will come right into your beautiful hands hehehe
but that kind of takes the fun out of most of the match for me; i like to be able to move freely rather than patrolling one specific area! D:

Rule 10.
Survivors are responsible for walking and feeding the Demogorgon and letting it out. If they forget to do this they must buy the Demogorgon a new squeaky toy.
Rule #10, Sub. 2;
if the demogorgon is to not be satisfied with the provided toy, the demogorgon is free to vore the offending individual.

in my honest opinion, the only changes i can see to hillbilly is him merely getting a few new add-ons and some add-on changes to suit the criteria for the amount of different rarities you're supposed to have. i can't really see any possible way you could change his chainsaw or his mobility, since he's meant to be speedy and easy to use to begin with!

This is BHVR, there is no doubt
regardless on whether if this is BHVR or not, it's not exactly the best choice to post things like this here. if there's been an issue, personally reach out to the business at hand and discuss it with them. bringing something like this to the public can cause immense controversy, especially if it turns out to be false. some members of the community can have a mob mentality, and that's not healthy.
it's seriously recommended OP removes this.
-
hmm. i highly doubt that professional employees would say these sorts of things, let alone the fact that it's not reasonable for a worker of a company for a game you're playing to attack a single user. if you really feel you've been personally attacked by employees, however, it'd be better to email BHVR themselves with the evidence to have them review it... ^^'
-
personally, i'd love it if they replaced the theme with jon rob's fan-made version of it!
but i can see where they're trying to go with it. i'd say give them a little bit more time, as it's a music draft after all. it definitely sounds a bit unfinished, so it might need more tweaking and stuff.

agreed. honestly the flame being tossed towards the devs are way over the top.

Ghostface rework idea: I think every survivor should get a cell phone. Ghostface has a 32m terror radius, but he can call survivors and hear the phone ringing within 8 meters. This gives him incredible short range tracking. If survivors answer the phone, they get exposed. Survivors can just take the battery out of the phone by hitting a skill check at the beginning of the trial. This prevents Ghostface from ever calling them, and makes it so he's not annoying for survivors. Additionally, survivors can sign up for the Do Not Call list in the options menu to permanently block Ghostface's number.
I LOVE YOU

honestly, with the original topic point aside for a moment, the idea of having private or custom game lobbies that feature ai in general would be such an amazing thing, since it would allow people to properly experiment with builds and toy around with bots.
but unfortunately, ai isn't really a priority nor would it be a good idea to implement it right now. it'd be too difficult to create from scratch because ai would have to do what players would do in order to create at least a decent experience based on difficulty; flicking, moonwalking, countering loops, mindgaming, etc.
unless if the ai learn from a neural network that learns from actual players, it's kind of.. meh..
this goes for both killers and survivor ai, by the way!
-
let the games begin!

Just DC. You're not forced to play a game that's not fun. If the killer is being toxic face camping or tunneling just disconnect and join a new game. Even block the killer if it makes you feel better.
But coming on here complaining about killers to killer mains isn't gonna get the job done. Get your double bloodpoints and move on
encouraging disconnecting isn't the way to go, and is in fact, against the rules. please don't.
-
honestly? i'm not quite sure due to how challenging playing against survivors have gotten recently.
perhaps im just not that good of a killer. owo''
-
personally, i stopped focusing on the challenges and simply have them as a side objective. i mostly focus on playtime to gain shards, and it actually feels a lot better since you're gradually earning as you play. it becomes a subconscious thing in the long run, and before you know it, you make it to the end of the rift! i got to tier 60 this way :0
-
it's fine the way it is. unless if the forum managers personally see it as useless themselves, it's going to remain here. :)

Punishing afk players and DCs is standard practice on any team game. Not people who afk once in a blue moon, but honestly, if you're displaying that kind of behavior often then you're not doing any good to the game or the community and you should probably be punished.
even if it's a standard practice in most games, that doesn't mean it should apply to every game. especially if someone HAS to afk often or gets interrupted. (for example, i deal with it very often because i live in a household with 4 other people, and they consistently interrupt me.)
i can understand where you're coming from, but it's not exactly a good idea regardless of how you go about it. sure, it can apply to disconnects on a base-to-base scenario, but afking?
what would be the threshold? how many minutes/seconds/etc should a person be afk before they receive the penalty? what would be considered valid reasons to punish this afk person? how will you be able to determine that this person is going afk on purpose or on accident? how would you be able to adjust the system for those who do have to go afk one in a blue moon but wouldn't want to face the penalty?
you'll never truly know the reasons a player has gone afk as well, and that's what will make the penalty hard to apply and almost nonviable.
there's too many questions to ask, too many things to consider, and it would be a terrible system to implement because you're forcing players to remain in-game at all times, and some cannot manage that.
-
i don't see the point in applying punishment to those that are AFK, whether by accident or on purpose. the killer isn't holding the game hostage, breaking the game itself, or anything, and it's not like the survivors still can't get their points or escape. the only issue i have with it is for those who are seeking to depip purposefully and choose to afk for that reason.
i really wish others would stop taking this game so seriously and find ways to punish others for even doing the smallest of things. real life stuff happens, people forget they're in queue, etc.
it's unreasonable to jab a finger at afk killers when survivors can also do the same thing as well; afking in lockers, corners of maps, or simply just not being active at all and staying in place.

I don't see how people can make this argument. Just because the teams are not balanced player wise does not mean it's not a competition. Games by their nature have a winner and a loser. This means people have to compete to win. Even if it was 100 vs 1 it would still be a competition between the two sides, regardless if all players are friends or not.
In other words, my parade remains quite dry under my umbrella of logic.

How can you hold a debate without knowing the meaning of words ? Competitive is the opposite of collaborative. A game involving one side against another is competitive by essence, it has nothing to do with casual or asymetric aspects.
There's a casual mode in dbd, it's called kill your friends. But you can't make it collaborative either as in the end some win and some lose...
regardless on how it's gone about or how badly i may have worded it/attempted to explain; my point still stands. dead by daylight wasn't meant to be competitive and is solely made competitive due to its playerbase and the nature of it. by gameplay based on the whole "fighting to escape/fighting to capture and kill", yes it can be competitive since that's typical of most vs games, but by environmental standpoints, it is not and shouldn't be, as the game is not built for that.
we can agree to disagree, however, i'm just merely making it clear that dead by daylight being meant for more casual play, both online and offline, is a very real thing, and has been that way since its initial release. i suppose it's a matter of individuals simply taking it way too seriously as well, as that could be another factor to the competitive output most people tend to see.
-
i feel you, op.
some rngs just don't exactly feel the best, even if they're in the killer or survivor's favor. but, unfortunately that's how gate rngs are. :'0

@FabV said:
Sorry but the mistake you make is that it IS a competitive game
howdy! sorry to rain on your parade, but this game isn't a competitive game at all. it was forced to be due to how the community sees and takes it.
dead by daylight is an asymmetrical 1v4 game, and it was originally ruled as a casual party game on various sources until people started taking it way too seriously, and that it was eventually advertised as competitive. only once, however, though i do not recall where.
but my main point is that because dead by daylight is as asymmetrical as it is, it cannot be competitive, hence why it was originally made for casual play.

dwelf gang dwelf gang!

ELK STOP MAKING ME BURST OUT LAUGHING RANDOMLY
-
nope! i wouldn't believe so, op.
there's been various occasions where survivors and killers have both brought map offerings (sometimes full lobbies trying their luck with their own map request), and one was randomly chosen.
shrouds can work alongside each other. coins simply either reduce or add chests, if two were to bring a shiny coin and a scratched coin, it'd register both and merely just bring the chest amount back to its default. oaks are the same way.
there's really no "rigging". it's all based on chance.
unfortunately, you may have not gotten that RNG luck or had the offerings in your favor, and that's okay! there's always a next game.
happy holidays!
-
i personally don't think they're going to touch hag. even if they do, it's most likely to increase trap-setting distance rather than straight up butchering her add-ons or basekit.
she's reasonably constructed, and those who complain about her playstyle simply don't really know how to play against her, considering she's not as commonly played as other killers.
-
[cries in my love for feng min because she's genuinely one of my favorite survivors]
-
unfortunately, as much as i love nurse, i'll have to make my statement too. nurse is genuinely unfun to play as now. she's way too clunky with her movement, and it seems like her blinks are more randomized than anything now, even when paced. her blink cooldowns slow her down a little too much, and any stuns, line of sight breaks, etc. just completely kill her no matter how well you play. sure, i've gotten good games with her before, but now she's overall just kind of terrible and it's sad to see that..
there has to be some sort of workaround for this rework of hers. the addons were fine to be adjusted, but the basekit she has now slows her down and forces her into bad positions practically all the time, and this should not be how a killer should play.
their powers are meant to assist them after all, not to hurt them.
-
that's what bloodhunts are for, fortunately! ^^'
we may be due for one soon anyway due to the christmas event coming up. fingers crossed, though!
