  • has anyone actually considered that DBD is a party game....... that is asymmetrical. it's meant to be a randomized game to prevent you from getting bored.

you will always have outliers that make the game seem "unbalanced" or sweaty, but that's just how it is.

the point of SWF was to be able to play with your friends, idk where people got this notion that it's purposefully meant to ruin a killer's day. trying to balance something that has an extreme amount of variables (casual players, competitive players, people who understand fundamentals, people who don't, people having different reaction times, people who are sharp on their controls, etc.), let alone with a game that has a bunch of variables (RNG, spawn systems, map tiles, offerings, killer perks and powers, etc.) is unorthodox. showing who's in a party and who isn't simply because skill-based matchmaking hasn't gotten a chance to regulate itself is completely unnecessary.

SBMM has only been out for maybe a week. it takes about a month for it to put players where it needs to be. making changes to parties, exposing them, etc. won't make matchmaking's algorithm resolve itself any faster.

  • more than likely evan. the reason being because of his hyper-aggressive personality and build, as well as him having more to work with

amanda is more of a loyalist than someone who went out and SOUGHT to kill someone personality, and she's more stealth reliant and ambush-heavy, but she isnt as strong as evan is. ^^'

  • unfortunately, this is the mindset of people who don't like things nowadays. if we don't like it, instead of trying to improve it, we straight up want nothing to do with it or try to get rid of it entirely. this is just something we have to learn to ignore or try to improve on on our own time.

as for the twins, i don't play the character enough to know what they were like before and after the nerfs, but i don't have issues playing against them as survivor once in a while. :'0

i agree though, things that people don't like shouldn't be nerfed or deleted, but rather just be improved where necessary and tweaked 'till its right.

  • i feel like this would be a great thing to implement! i would especially love to have this feature as a way to be able to have fun with friends without worrying about a partial survivor deficit in custom games, and could fill up the slots to at least have a full game that can be somewhat played compared to a 1v1, 1v2, etc.

since the AI already has pre-coded scripts that can be ran, they can be modified to incorporate different types of survivors as well as being able to adjust their builds. the problem, however, is that there's so many variables that determine how a player can play, and the AI can't always replicate that. so while you'll be able to get some practice in with a specific killer during the custom match, you'll also need to be able to know how to play against different playstyles, and i don't think they're capable of bringing that into question yet.

there's still quite a long way to go for bots, so time will tell!

Trapper isn't my main, so I don't feel qualified to give tips on him. But.... Otz obviously knows his ######### and taught me a few things.

Now, ask me about the Doc and I can write an essay....

As someone who used to main Doc when he first came out before switching to Demo.... Hit me up with that essay some day. 👀

You need to look up anything Otzdarva has on YouTube about the Trapper. Easily one of the best Trapper's out there and has good guides.

I do watch Otz! He's very helpful, and that's how I learned how to use my traps a lot more effectively than I used to. I'll rewatch some of his videos.

    @BronzeHandModel said:

It depends highly on Addons how you play him. 40% per Match? When you get 3 people with your traps, thats totally fine. Sometimes you just use traps to end loops and to force the survivor to run into a dead Zone. But traps on windows are maybe obvious, but in chase most of the time survs run into it or run around them and give u a free hit. I recommend most of the time the Addons to darken your traps and to carry more traps. And when chasing on the shack, always trap the pallet. Most of the survs stop looping around it when they know there is a trap. Its not always about catching survs with a trap, instead you force them to make mistakes because of the traps. Gl

I'll keep this in mind, thank you! <3

  • your idea makes little to no sense to me.. if all generators were 10% during early-game, it'd lead to a lot of confusion and way too much power in the survivor's hands, because they could easily spread out and massage the gens into higher percentages to get them done faster by the time the main game come around.

also! the pallets wouldn't exactly make sense either. having all of them dropped early could easily have them shredded through by chainsaw killers, demogorgon, nurse, etc., brutal strength would have too much power during a time like that. you'd end up with less pallets way too early. putting them back up in their upright position afterwards wouldn't make a difference. ^^'

the ruin changes would be nice, but i don't think it should be only an EGC thing, nor should i think that it should be a normal perk, it would need to remain a hex.

blood favor wouldn't exactly be as useful because of the ability for killers to shred through pallets early game, or survivors just not using the pallets at all.

i don't really have any changes to offer, only criticism, because some of this isn't really ideal. ^^'

  • just ignore 'em! life happens in the background, and its much more important than a game.

it'd be no different from participating in a team sport IRL, only to have to drop out of a game for a day because of an emergency. sure, it sucks and degrades team performance, but it's necessary because you need to take care of something, and they can't control that.

    so don't feel too bad!

  • hi, demo main input here!

knowing the properties of shred (damaging 1 health state, capable of destroying pallets and breakable walls, capable of sending demogorgon flying off of platforms, the speed of which shred allows you to move and recover can be altered through addons), shred itself is a pretty powerful honing and herding tool, and that's really it should all be used for, it's not exactly built to serve any other purpose.

using shred on pallets or breakable walls is not ideal because of this-- shred on any of these objects causes demogorgon a slightly longer stun time than normally breaking these objects through manual input, and it's for good reason. shred is only meant to be an option for things of long range that have significant value to the killer, whether it's speed and distance, or landing a hit and preserving tokens for addons. (if you use shred for pallets and walls tho, no judging! i do it too, it just costs you x)!!)

from character perspective, it also wouldn't just make sense for demogorgon to fly through walls like he did have a chainsaw; he has claws, so he needs to use them! picture a demogorgon bulldozing through a wall like its swiss cheese, it's almost cartoonish. LOL

also, taking pathway maps into consideration ('lli call gideon's an example pathway map because you're able to make your own route with these breakable walls and enforce it.), tightly knit corners, etc., it would be extremely disorienting and hard to get demo back on track since he's going to continue to fly through the wall with no stun. this would cause him to fly further than intended, and is harmful on maps that have jungle gyms or tight corners past a doorway, is a pathway map, etc. (like gideon's, dead dawg saloon, etc.).

you're also making this a little busted at the same time in a survivor encounter, because if we were to apply these properties, demogorgon would be able to fly from pallet-to wall-to pallet and always guarantee a hit due to how quickly shred is able to recover at base. it'd be significantly worse had the demogorgon using this addon also have a shred cooldown addon too (if we're ignoring pallet stuns). the survivor would be downed in about one two seconds from full health.

overall, a change like this would heavily affect muscle memory for the demogorgon's shred and coordination, cause bad habits, and also would spell awful for the survivor who happens to bump into him. :'(

  • may someone tag me with a source for freddy changes, please? i see people talking about it, but i can't find information on it anywhere.. (maybe because i've been out of the community for a hot minute :'0)

  • people will be people, your best shot is to just play how you want to play and call it final. it's not worth catering to everyone who tries to bait or be a bully. ^^'

  • i enjoy it, personally! i love interacting with community members, especially if i'm streaming or recording and they're also live, it gives me a chance to compare our gameplay side-by-side!

once in a while i run into a salty individual, but i don't really let it get to me, since i'm generally just happy to be able to play with others regardless of the circumstances.

we're always watching... the upside down is very comfortable and welcoming, trust me!

real talk though; i do wish that the twins did get a bit of a touch up. they deserve it. their concept is really cool and i don't see too many twins in matches. :(

  • i don't seem to notice this happening as much whenever i play demo (and only demo, who else do i play LOL)

i DO notice, however, that people tend to disconnect randomly during matches mid-chase, out of nowhere after having not interacted with anything, or a minute or two after they die to death hook. i have a feeling that there's probably some bugs going around that definitely influence survivor disconnects more than the DS changes.

i'm not sure if this is a connection instability type of thing, or if people get stuck in pallets, etc.

i'll have to report back to this thread in a bit. x)

glad you liked both of them, and i'm sure hunnybear likes that you enjoy her concept too!

  • i personally think clown is actually pretty good for a killer like him. he does struggle a little bit here and there, but he can make for relatively fun games.

i wouldn't exactly consider him the best killer, however, but in terms of being fun? yeah he's one of the best killers in my fun list. :D

  • i love how this thread went from "david sounds like a gremlin" to our personal bdsm kinklist in just a few posts.

  • i don't really see anything different, as i use mori's strategically anyway, and i always wait until death hook to use them, like i've already been doing so. so this change didnt really affect me, though i can't say the same about others!

  • i can only partially agree with you when it comes to bloodfavor being transformed into a perk instead of a totem. the reason why i say this, is because removing the ability to drop pallets for a survivor or two during chase is one of the strongest things you can do in the game. it makes survivors completely defenseless against certain powers or playstyles, especially if they manage to get bad tiles or are unsure how to loop someone.

now, with that being said; it makes sense that the perk is a totem and that it would be something that could be removed during the match due to how strong it is inside of chases if used correctly. having it consistently on as a perk, but on cooldown, would put way too much pressure on chases, especially since the average chase time is usually somewhere between 15 seconds to a minute. that cooldown would be detrimental on the survivor because of how quickly it'd be able to recover in and outside of chase (unless if i interpreted your statement wrong, then disregard this line! x'D)

  • picture this;

demogorgon with the ability to use a chainsaw to get across the map, or run at someone with feral frenzy. combine that with shred as well.

Nobody cares about how hard of a time you are having with camping bud. If you don't want to hit the hooked survivor practice using your mouse better.

you're under the assumption that he's camping. i, too, have dealt with the same issues OP has when returning to the hook after spotting a survivor running towards it, and i wasn't even remotely camping either.

    it's not a matter of "using your mouse better". there's times where you even purposefully swing far enough to hit the unhooker, and you'll still manage to hit the person being unhooked, depending on where the unhooker is located. it's frustrating to deal with at times.. ;;

  • i just wanted to kill survivors... not get an eye-full of nipple...

  • yeah, unfortunately the story behind freddy is more than just your typical slasher, but at the same time it adds more to his gross character.

a lot of people tend to forget that detail about him..

The devs have already decided they want to confirm which characters are LGBT (because, according to the devs, there's at least one in the game, they just haven't been confirmed.), as opposed to just the non-LGBT ones. Nobody's pushing anything.

Personally, I don't care what people think about this unless they also complained when non-LGBT characters were outed. Anyone who didn't complain about non-LGBT characters lost the right to complain about LGBT characters as far as I'm concerned.

There isn't more to it than putting a specific pronoun here or there in a character's lore, or saying "boyfriend" instead of "girlfriend" (or vice-versa). This is all lore, which apparently nobody ever reads, yet everyone claims to care deeply about when it comes to LGBT representation.

fair point! i'm just more-so thinking in terms of respect as to why people possibly wouldn't want to get their universe involved with LGBTQ+ topics and identities. i'm glad to hear the devs want to confirm who's part of the community though! that makes me a little excited. :0

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1725487#Comment_1725487

Given that the game already has heterosexual representation, why not LGBT representation as well?

oh i'm not saying "absolutely no lgbt rep!!!"! nor is it a bad thing, i just say we shouldn't (personally) push it because it really comes up to the dev's decisions, and sometimes some people don't want to misrepresent something they aren't too knowledgeable about or don't know how to incorporate into a character without stereotyping.

i'm not saying that the devs don't know, though, because i don't know where their stance is on this and all, it's just one of the many reasons!

and this is coming from an lgbtq+ member myself (trans ftm and pan, hello fellow trans+pan individuals <3), so i can understand that some people may not be as keen or feel like such a thing could be just easily slapped onto a character if they're going for a sexuality or identity that requires some research.

also, you have to take into consideration the community too. i don't know exactly how received that sort of thing would be, and i personally wouldn't risk it if i were a dev, so maybe the devs also might see that as a potential issue too.

there's a lot that can go into this aside from just saying "hey this character is mlm/wlw/trans/ace/etc."

  • yui can be anything and everything we want her to be.

    lesbian rights? hell yeah

    trans rights? hell yeah

    nonbinary rights? hell yeah

while we shouldn't push lgbt rep into everything, its good to have personal headcanons!

  • very pretty! i love her <3

  • the entity just wants money. haven't you heard of the fine arts of capitalism?

  • the plausible reason why is because of how powerful killer's instinct is on legion, especially since there's add-ons that can manipulate killer's instinct, and tracking perks that legion is capable of using.

i feel that it's a necessary evil, since legion already has a lot of power when in frenzy as it is!

  • even if it's alphabetical now, i still take just about as much time looking for a specific perk i want like before.

*cue me flipping through the same 5 pages trying to find shadowborn for 8 minutes*.

  • yeah, i definitely noticed that queue times have gotten a little bit longer, ever since the bloodhunt was activated for the weekend. i think that's the norm, though, as this happened with almost every other bloodhunt. x)

No idea. I reported a killer for holding the game hostage and provided video evidence, but I have no idea if that ever went anywhere.

    double-post, apologies!

but i see what you mean. i have indeed reported someone before for something similar a long time ago, but it's difficult to tell whether or not that reports actually are handled because there's no communication after the fact. x(

  • @YaiPa said:

it's literally pointless. You can't report for lagswitching because someone might just have really bad internet (even when it's clearly on demand); reporting someone for harassment and hate speech takes way longer and results only in a 1 day ban; the game is full of cheaters, so the EAC is worthless. Devs take action only against legacy cheater, because they cheat pixels, seems right considering their priorities...

i mean, the legacy skin mods make sense to be easily bannable. all skins that are earned legitimately, as far as i'm concerned, aren't client-side. they're linked to an inventory database. so it's easy to see whether or not if someone truly earned it, or if it's something that was modded in through exploits or changing codes.

as for everything else, ouch.. that's a bit unfortunate. i wish there was a more efficient way for the devs to be able to handle these sorts of things. a built-in replay system that saves all match data to a cloud would be wonderful for being able to catch in-game cheaters. x_x

can you teach us how to play against her efficiently? a video would be appreciated. ty

unfortunately, i wouldn't be able to do so, as i don't play survivor often enough to play efficiently against her myself and i'm not confident in teaching others like that! x(

even i'm still trying to figure out ways to counter her aside from faking out traps and avoiding certain areas, using flashlights to my ability, and perks that i feel could be useful so i could take that experience to my own hag killer games. i do, however, know that people don't take the time to learn like i do, so it's part of the problem as to why people think she's so busted. it's kind of similar to how people act when a new killer comes out, because people don't really know..

hag is relatively tricky to go against because of her spider-like gameplay, but i'm sure there's ways to get around that!

  • there's nothing wrong with hag! the problem is just that people don't know how to play against her efficiently, since every hag player is different. don't worry too much about it. ^^

  • @Buttercake definitely satisfying! i get a lot of asmr-like feelings when listening to hag gameplay while things are quiet.
