Oh no they are not complex in the least they just said oh this round object needs a square hitbox....that wont cause any issues.....

But jokes aside, that's the basic idea I have seen with hit boxes. Round objects ha ring sharp corner hit boxes or some of the smallest ground clutter having a hit box in the first place.

I was being chased by a Blight who caught me in a dead zone, he dashed and right before he reached me he hit some ground clutter and pin balled away.....I actually felt bad for him so I ran to him and gave him a free hit

Random pieces of junk and clutter having collision in teh first place isntead of just being a prop with no collision is what I meant

  • Realm beyond has definately made this worse because they decided for some reason every object needs extremely complex collision unncessarily

  • I'll deal with this map every once in a while but I get it repeatedly I take the DC penalty

I'd rather take 5-10 minutes to get myself a snack than play on that map repeatedly

and I don't normally DC for maps either, even if survivors use offerings for maps I typically don't task manager tech, RPD being the exception, I will task manager tech it every time and nothing will stop me from doing that

  • I think you'll find it's not that controversial of an opinion these days that reworked ruin is stronger than old ruin

  • Descend Beyond is my favorite 100%

    Silent Hill is pretty good

A binding of kin could be great with some small changes.

I dislike all-kill but the other chapters that year make up for it.

Came close to choosing year 4 because stranger things and cursed legacy were great, ghost face is okay and chains of hate is okay.

This year could be a good contender with a couple good chapters tacked on because RE is pretty good, hell raiser is okay, portrait of a murder is okay.

  • Honestly I feel like it's just going to be replaced by some other dog whistle

  • For ghostface they do not have the lisense to the movie character they have liscesnse to the mask. The character is original, they cannot use the movie characters.

  • I'd like to see

    Healing

    Being Healed

    Self Healing

    In Terror Radius

    being chased

    doing gen

    doing a dull

    doing a hex

edit: also killer specific action, so nemesis vaccines, pig boxes, box solving, fountain. ect.

  • This but game slowdown perks also should be nerfed

    Pop to like 15-18%

    Pain resonance to like 10-12%

surge(JOLT) kinda needs a buff right now so it can stay the same or they can buff it some other way and nerf the value down

eruption nerf by 1 or 2%

ruin have value adjusted to 75% of base regression speed (so same as current tier 2 ruin basically)

corrupt have it's duration dropped by 20 - 30 seconds

grim embrace needs a buff currently so it can stay the same.

    NWO dropped to 45 seconds

Probably missing a few but you should get the idea

Isn't this an anti camping build though since gens aren't being done the killer has more time to do chases and you aren't going to capitalize on the dms if you aren't actively hooking

No? If the gens aren't being done you have 0 reason NOT to camp.

The counter to camping is doing gens and leaving.

If you remove the ability to do gens, you literally remove the reason not to camp.

Normally the reason camping is a bad idea is because while you sit there for 1-2 minutes while 3 survivors complete all the gens. So normally its preferable to hook 1, chase 1 while 1 unhooks leaving only 1 doing gens at a given time.

With this build you can camp a hook, which fast tracks you to securing your first kill and because of DMS survivors aren't able to punish you for it by popping a ton of gens while you sit there at the hook

You don't need to actively be hooking to get DMS value. The DMS value comes from the fact that every single hook is a guaranteed 100% safe camp since you know survivor CANNOT punish you for it no matter what they do.

Can anyone point at a skin that could be used maliciously?

Blackface is a literal thing, and the black community have been outspoken on this for a very long time, it has a very long history of being used to mock black people, whether you like it or not racists know black people see this skin as blackface, you may not but they do, and that's fine, it's their history.

There has been no history of people dressing up like old people and murdering and lynching old folks, same goes for murdering and lynching of trans and gay folk, it unfortunately happens but those people dont have a special outfit or makeup they wear for such occasions.

    Educate yourself.

    pride charm

    Any character that is LGBTQ+

  • Let's look at how this will play out

    The ultimate camping build

Artist with ink egg (can fire 4 crows instead of 3) and thick tar (can fire crows slightly more often)

The perks, corrupt intervention, DMS, pain resonance, one last of your choice, probably discordance to stop them finishing gens before you can get a hook.

At the start of the game you down someone and hook them on a scourge hook, 3 gens are still blocked from corrupt, the gen with the most progress explodes, the survivor on it screams, interrupting it and causing it to blocked for the remainder of DMS, so now 4 gens are blocked. You fire crows at the 3 gens on the map unblocked, any of them that are being worked will be blocked either when the survivor dodges crows or when you force them off by injuring them with crows.

All gens with progress are blocked for 45 seconds, you occasionally fire crows at unblocked gens to make sure the survivors aren't working them. Once DMS expires survivors are free to work on gens again, however in just 15 seconds you will secure another stage, at which point you will stop camping. You then chase and down another survivor and do it again, this time you have no corrupt so you will need to use you 4th crow and a bit of gamse sense or luck to know 2 gens that cannot possible have a survivor working on it and be willing to choose 1 gen that you are okay with losing (but even then you might not lose it since after your power charges you can fire at the gens you didn't fire at before, if you've already lost 1 gen this is a non issue)

If at any point you kill someone, gens will not only not be possible to work for 45 seconds but you can actively chase a survivor during that 45 sseconds, getting a hook repeating the process.

Survivors can't avoid this. If they commit the generators, you will injure them with crows, forcing them off the gen and blocking it. They can't dodge the crow either since they have to let go of the gen which will cause it to block. You ccan't leave the gen before the hook is done either because even if the gen isn't blocked, not working on hte gen is exactly what the artist wants you to do. She wants the game to stop progressing so she can camp the person on hook until they stage without you being able to counter it.

You can't just trade hooks with the person, that's just going to result in the killer getting rapid hook states and reactivating DMS every single time.

Oh and even if the survivors manage to get some of the gens done, reducing the number of gens on the map makes it even easier to do.

All this effort from such an appreciated influencer of Dbd to improve the game, and little feedback from the devs on the important things that matter in "the real world" (of Dbd), as always.

The Twins changes (and the Twins themselves because of how Frustrating it is to play them because of all their issues) just show how detached from the reality of Dbd the devs are, or that they're purposely ignoring the frustration and the feedback.

I don't wanna list in this post all the bad and frustrating things Dbd has, just the massive hacker epidemic and circle of healing are enough, but I will say this:

We already lost some streamers during time, we'll lose Dowsey and others forever MAYBE when VHS open beta and the full game comes out, and we'll lose Scott Jund maybe( he said he will just focus on it and nothing else, maybe he could get pissed by Dbd and leave it forever) ,and Tru3ta1ent DEFINITELY (he said it himself) when Elden Ring will come out. And many little others like Marth, Space Coconut.

I don't wanna lose even Otz forever, pls devs, do something!

Save Dbd, and don't let so many streamers leave, because it's very possible that Otz could leave Dbd for Elden Ring, even if he doesn't say it.

scott jund isn't leaving DBD for VHS, he's taking a hiatus from DBD when Elden Ring comes out

You're right, I am disregarding it because, on paper, you're ignoring literally every outside factor to cry chicken little.

There are too many factors in-game to see how two powers will interact. Your theory:

    1. Ignores the skills of the Killer, which includes aiming through walls across the map
    2. The size of the maps. Which means the birds may have to fly farther and thus, aim being off by 1 inch can mean a miss over 500 meters whereas it would be a hit at 5 meters. Also; the Killer's ability to GET to the Survivors if they are across a large map.
    3. What other perks the Killer is using. IE: BBQ could give them great situational awareness, but only if they're using it.
    4. What perks the Survivors are using.
    5. The skill of the Survivors. If they know the Killer has Dead Man's, they then know to release gens BEFORE the hooking. Hell, some Survivors can keep a running count in their heads nad know if it's safe to let go for the final few seconds, or when it's safe to go back if they previously let go.

To use your ball analogy; You know the ball will fall straight down...While ignoring that there's someone nearby who might hit it, so it falls to your left. Or that you're doing it on a very windy day, with sporadic wind gusts of 35 MPH that may push the ball around.

Instead, you're ignoring every single other factor in the scenario to say 'This ball will fall straight down, and you can't tell me otherwise'.

Bro you don't even need bbq

There are 7 generators on the map, you can fire 3 crows and there are 3 survivors working those 7 generators, even by completly guessing there's a good chance you'll block a gen

Fact is with some game sense you're likely to block more gens than that. There's usually 1 or 2 gens nearby the hook you won't even need birds to pressure even if they are being worked

On top of that you may know from your patroling across the map 1 or 2 gens that you know for sure aren't being worked.

That leaves only 3-5 gens you even need to bother firing crows at, and there are 3 survivors who are usually all working on different gens so chances are most of the time you're forcing at least 2 survivors off of their gens and wasting their time.

Virgin deadlock, block 1 gen for 30 seconds 4 times in a match

Chad deadman's switch, blocks 2+ gens for 45 seconds 6+ times a match

Getting off the gen early to hide only gives the killer EXACTLY what they want, for you to waste time not doing generators.

Honestly it will probably be a pretty strong strategy to throw 1 survivor on the hook, sit there and camp them for 45 seconds and just spam crows at gens to basically completly stop gen progress for 45 seconds while you camp someone to stage 2 then leave them to chase someone else.

Edit: Oh and also she has an addon that lets her fire 4 crows at once, throw that on and now you can stop repairs on 4 gens at a time instead of 3

  • My favorites to go against are blight, billy, and demo

    favorite to play is blight

  • Yeah pinhead has some really useless addons, it would be nice to combine some of his current ones into a single addon (like gateway range and chain range addons) and using the freed up space to do something like this.

    ie.

Frank's Heart gains the current effect of Larry's Blood.

Larry's Blood reworked to put you 2 meters close to the surv

Flickering Television gains the current effect of Spoiled Meal

Spoiled Meal now puts you 1 meter closer to the surv

Impaling Wire made green replacing slice of frank

New purple addon made that causes the teleport to be replaced with the ability to make the box inflict injury + deepwound on a survivor who solves it + incapacitated for 15(?) seconds

  • I assume what you mean by this is if the killer is bodyblocking the pallet throw prompt, which is intentional. You can't throw the pallet if the killer is standing in the spot you need to stand to perform the throw animation. 99.8% of the time it's better to not throw the pallet though because after a killer hits you they are on a 3 second cooldown from swinging and you just got a speed boost so by choosing to throw the pallet you are just wasting it and losing out on your speed boost.

  • As a side note lots of perks that are more useful in SWF than they are in solo could use a similar buff, ie. Deliverance, if your deliverance is active while you are on the hook, your aura will be yellow for other survivors instead of red, indicating you have a deliverance ready to use.

Unbreakable could get the same, an unused unbreakable could cause your aura to be yellow instead of red while slugged, so other survivors know they can let you recover if they need to.

  • Filters actually create a more fair playing field than not.

Without filters, you game visibility is determined entirely by the quality, and settings of your monitor. So if you have a $700 monitor with an incredible set of post process settings that allow you to dramatically increase image visibilty compared to some dude with $50 monitor you are at a drastic advantage because you spent more money on hardware.

Using filters lets the dude with the $50 monitor get a comparable visual experience, even if he is lacking g/freesync and image quality/refresh rate compared to the $700 monitor dude still.

  • A combination of being difficult to play, less effective on a controller, auric cell only, and decent but not top tier, and having an NFT controversy surrounding them likely all contribute too being an unpopular killer but none of those aspects probably on their own make that the case

Thanks for your comment. I've tried doing Low and was okay with it, (Since i only care about gameplay.) however, the icons suddendly looked crusty and for some uncertain reason simple effects of the game were suddendly removed. I've tried doing an 1600 x 1080 stretched res with the graphics, since it's still has an 1080 Resolution and the game then looked good like in 1920 x 1080. However, i noticed that when doing so and playing survivor this gives me kind of more view for some reason and an unfair advantage, which i did not aim for. Is this an unfair advantage? I also tried going with 1600 x 900 Resolution, however, then the visuals of the game suddendly became not really viewable and hard to make out. Im not sure why, when it is with other games its still the same just not as unviewable as Dead by daylight. Also, with the bannable question i meant the Options that are avaliable at the start of the page. Are they really not bannable? Because i read somewhere that changing them, does give an chance of being banned whenever starting up the game with these settings. I enabled an screenshot this time to show which settings i meant. For the other already awnsered questions, thanks for awnsering them. (If needed i can also upload an picture of the 1600 x 900 Resolution if needed.)

Stretched res will give you a bit more vertical FOV, it's not bannable and if you were to simply own a monitor that uses that resolution you still get the benefit so it doesn't really matter

you can change those settings yes. 1= low 2= medium 3= high 4= ultra

  • The change twins needs is for the ability to switch back to charolette during victors fatigue and to have no wake up fatigue when doing so, same as when victor is kicked. This avoids the painful 8 seconds of fatigue after downing someone if you decide to hook them and rewards the twins for NOT slugging. BHVR got their original nerf wrong. Twins players weren't slugging because it was ecessively effective. They were slugging because they ate a 3 second fatigue into another 3 second fatigue after getting downs with victor for not slugging, and only a 3 second fatigue for slugging.

By allowing the twins to avoid this insane (now 8 second) fatigue by choosing not to slug, it gives them some massively needed QoL fixes a lot of their issues with picking up survivors before you're physically able to do anything about it and incentivizes not just being a slug lord, all things the twins needs badly.

As for blight, I have no idea what stretched res has to do with blight, and I am blight main with 15k lethal rush hits.

Billy I kinda want them to shorten the cooldown after ending a chainsaw without a hit a tiny bit or adjust the speed curve during the cooldown to speed up a little quicker.

For deathslinger, I don't see why you would want a 32 meter lullaby over 32 meter tr. You can hide or reduce your TR with perks or use perks that affect survivors within your TR more effectively without having a lullaby and keeping the big terror radius.

  • You should definately play on low with those specs, honestly should probably play on a lower res or stretched res as well, as the extra performance will go a long way to make the game smoother.

You can change whatever you want in the.ini it's not the game files it's just how the game stores your settings, there is nothing you can change in the .ini files that will get you banned. Only editing .paks will get you banned, that's not something you're gonna do by accident either.

I'm struggling to understand what you're trying to say, to be perfectly honest.

I think you're trying to say that you believe my description of the cross play off experience is accurate, and that it is comparable on PS and PC too. I don't know what you mean by "this wouldn't change that".

Assuming I interpreted your post correctly, it sounds like you're calling a lot of people on these forums liars. I'm new here and even I have lost count of how many PC players I've seen talk about them playing with cross play off. It sounds like the standard is higher (obviously lol), and the range of killers you face is narrower with more Blights and Nurses (again, super obvious lol). I've never heard any of these guys describe their cross play experience to be anything like how I described mine.

As for people not caring, well I honestly don't know. Before I came to this thread, I never knew that this game didn't always have cross play and I found burt's post very interesting. I hadn't thought of any good reason why cross play existed until I saw that, so TY burt. The list of advantages that PC players have is almost endless. How much people care about that though, IDK. I certainly do care. Not because of hackers though LOL just #########. 700 hours and I've never knowingly seen one. Grow up.

My point is that even if there was an option to allow console only crossplay there would still only be 10 people in it, hell if you split the options into 3 categories it would probably reduce the amount of players in both of the queues making the problem worse. Most people do not care to play cross play off and that's why there's so few players there. Even on PC, crossplay off matchmaking is pretty bad unless you're playing during peak hours.

Also people who both read and post on the forums are a very different group from the people who play the game. The vast majority of players really just do not care to turn off crossplay, the people who care to play with it off are almost certainly more likely to be active on the forums than those who don't care to change it

  • @OverratedFool said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2703962#Comment_2703962

Then you've never tried it. You're part of a pool of about 10 players. Even the most confrontational of people wouldn't argue your point, if they had experienced that mess first hand. You will literally wait 20 minutes to be put in a game and then probably be put in a game in which the other survivors are playing with the killer. No, that is not an exaggeration.

That applies to crossplay off on every platform, and this wouldn't change that. Most people simply do not care if they're facing other platforms

  • I think a cool ability they could add to the key is the ability to expend an amount of charges (like 10 or 15) to "vault" a breakable wall.

It could have an animation where the survivor touches the wall and it partially fades out of existence and the survivor jumps through before the wall fades back into existence

  • I don't understand why the current option is not sufficient if you don't want to play against PC players.

  • This map is just kinda bland and boring with no real flavor to it other than a single unique object in the middle that doesn't affect gameplay of the map at all.

In terms of balance I don't mind it as killer, I do dislike getting it as survivor though.

  • nurse: if you get lightburned you are bad

    wraith: fair enough

myers: just look down and keep the survivor on the edge of your vision

ghostface: if you're getting flashlighted you're getting revealed anyway

legion: it ends feral frenzy but it does NOT stun him

    hag: hag deserves the downside

spirit: wrong, it has never done this although I believe they recently made it so you can get rid of the husk but the spirit can continue to phase walk

nemesis: fair but zombies are annoying and terrible gameplay anways

artist: extremely easy to play around

Also it takes 1 second to blind the killer not 4

  • While I agree with removing perk tiers, it is kind of just kicking the can down the road.

The real problem is that every time you add a new character, you

    1) Add a whole new character to unlock ~100 perks on.

2)Add 3 perks that must be unlocked on over 20 previous characters. This of course gets worse and worse with every release because you add 3 to 20 and then add 3 to 21 then 3 to 22 then 3 23 and so an and so forth.

Sure removing tiers cuts down the work each perk adds by 1/3, but the grind still has a problem with it's growth rate where in every time a character is added to the game, the grind gets worse.

I think a final solution would have to be something like, remove perk tiers, make it so prestiging a characters unlocks 1 of their 3 perks on all other characters without having to level those characters, and make it so you don't lose your stuff for prestiging anymore.

at 8 knives per down, he effectivly had potential for 7 injures per reload with a half of wiggle room for misses.

at 6 knives per down, 60 knives would have been 10 which was way too much.

44 knives is 7 potential injures per reload, it was an adjustment to keep the injuries per reload the same.

killer instict only happens on a near-miss. If it doesn't hit but came close, it will cause killer instinct. The crows didn't hit that guy, but came close to him.

  • rework it to do something else. Like add a "regression shield" to the gen. So instead of adding 25% progress to the gen it makes it so the next 25% worth of regression applied to the gen does nothing to the gen.

  • Range should be dropped 4 meters to 20 meters.

The totem's sound should be audible within the entire AoE or it's aura visible to the killer within it.

You should be able to use pentimento on boon totems and not just destroyed ones, however it should be changed to be possible to bless a rekindled totem instead of just cleanse.

  • You could very easily make a killer with a similar theme, such as killer from Victorian London, but making it entirely or too close to the real person is just kind of disrespectful to the victims and also glorifies their actions, it'd be like Dahmer or Bundy to the game, very bad taste, people really only give Jack The Ripper a pass in their mind because he's got a spooky nickname and is infamous and happened over a hundred years ago, but the reality is he was a sick individual.

To be completely honest, giving serial killers nicknames like that is a total mistake, not that they knew that back then, but those names glorify the killer and those individuals are pretty much all complete narcists as far as I'm aware so it really feeds their ego.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2665212#Comment_2665212

None of that is the point. A random player may know or not know how to get into that spot, depending on if they're active in the game's social media. It doesn't matter if the killer knows and the survivor doesn't because the killer needs to be chasing the survivors if they want to win the game, so going into the spot achieves nothing. If both players know how to reach the spot, nothing happens beyond some minor time-wasting trying to get the right path up. But a survivor that goes into a spot a killer doesn't know how to reach is invincible. They cannot progress the game while in that spot, but they are a distraction and they can go into the spot while being chased for an automatic 'haha screw you' button. The killer has to either waste loads of time experimenting (giving the others free gens) or give up whenever the survivor goes there. This is why survivors go into these spots. It is deliberate use of an exploit in the hopes that the other player doesn't know how to deal with it. The purpose typically isn't hostage-taking, it's to win the game through unfair means.

Treating it like it's an intended part of strategy that has fair counterplay is BS. A player usually won't know about this until they encounter the glitch themselves. That's the point. Players can't be expected to know how to handle this. I don't understand why BHVR is chill with players abusing exploits to win as long as it doesn't result in 3-hour long games. Why is 'the game can still end' the bottom line of what's acceptable gameplay? The game could still end when Charlotte could bodyblock survivors in the basement while Victor hunted the ones that weren't, because she'd still come back to clean them up eventually. That didn't make that okay. BHVR should take a stance against it because it's against intended gameplay design and clearly in bad faith. Their current 'eh, whatever, we'll get rid of it eventually' mentality encourages people to find and abuse exploits because the only possible punishment for doing it is having the exploit removed after a month or two of trolling players with it.

Even killswitching the map is better than letting this keep happening.

Intention is irrelevant, if something is part of the game, it's part of the game whether to devs intended it to be that way or not, it's called emergent gameplay. Is maneuvering yourself into this obscure unintentional position to try and avoid a killer that doesn't know better cheesy? Absolutely. However it is part of the game and you can't really fault players for using everything the game gives them to try and win, kill switch the map until it's fixed sure, but this is absolutely a moment to hate the game and not the player.

1 … 17 18 19 20 21 … 47
