I cannot hold a conversation with anybody who states that "KILLERS SHOULD NOT CARE" whether or not anybody but them is having fun, and then later quotes himself as having stated "No killer should do something just because it makes you happy!".
Don't expect another reply.

So what in your mind we killers shouldnt use lightborn because it takes survivors fun away? I'm not reading all these topics again to see what was being said, but i think thats even more disgusting attitude to have.
Anyways let people use whatever perk they choose to use if its lightborn then its lightborn. I'm not dcing because people are using DH or DS or CoH even though i truly hate those perks and guess what..they take my fun away from the game :)
I could go back through this thread right now and quote myself saying that people should run LB if they wish, at least 3 times. I think more. However, if you can't be bothered to read the thread that you're commenting on (or even the posts you're replying to, see just above), then I'm certainly not going to go and do that.
The people who DC, are the exact type of people who like a post that says that killers should not care if 80% of the people in the game are not having fun, as long as they are.
People who DC (for any reason) will be firmly on your side, I'm sure. The game is purely about YOU having fun, and nobody else, right?

That's right.

Only one type of person whines about Killers using Lightborn.
######### whine about the Killer using Lightborn, they want their free 'blind the Killer for 80% of the game' simulator.
If you're idea of having fun in DBD is just 4 manning so you can locker blind the Killer and actively spend the match making sure they are miserable, then I am simply overjoyed a single perk ruins your bully simulator. Get a life.
You believe that survivors playing like this are actively spending the match making sure the killer is miserable?
I would find that kind of a match fantastic as killer. Same goes for any other weird plays a swf might try. You might want every game to be the same but you don't speak for everyone.

This is example of why end game chat should just be removed. It's mostly used to be toxic or rag on people for their perk choices. Play whatever perks you want, turn of chat because you'll enjoy the game way more. As someone that runs both Flashbang and Blastmine I definitely prefer you running Lightborn over the more meta killer perks.
I envy you PC players, with your endgame chat. Playing on Xbox, it's rare I get so say WP to somebody, or show somebody some appreciation if they made a risky late save for me. Whatever it might be. Even if there is a rare Xbox player in my game, sending them a message is not as simple as you guys on PC have it. Most people are not actively trying to be a ****. If somebody is, just don't talk to that person if you don't want. I don't think you should ignore everybody, because some people are **** heads.
-
A flashy save from a locker grab is an "exploit" now? There is no truth to this whatsoever. Stop acting like a baby.
I personally believe that the game is in a decent spot right now. Both from a survivor and killer perspective. It's far from perfect, but if this is the kind of **** that people are crying about, then no wonder everybody thinks the game is broken. Adjust your expectations. This is pathetic.
Not everybody is insulting you. Not everybody is exploiting the game. Grow up.
-
For the people saying they use it for comfort or ease of play, I want to say again like I did before, you use what you want to use. That said, I believe I have a fundamentally different attitude when I play killer. If I want to have a relaxing experience, I'll play as survivor. As survivor, not only am I influencing only 12.5% of the outcome of the game, but most of the time I'm not doing anything where I can make a mistake or have to try hard. As killer, that IS NOT THE EXPERIENCE. I fundamentally don't understand playing as killer and wanting a relaxing experience. You're influencing 50% of the game and you're always doing something where you can screw up. If you want to play killer to relax, that's fine. You do you. That's not my personal killer experience though.

Let me ask you guys something if you say NOED is "OP" and it needs a "nerf" and all that stuff. Why is it that you have time to go hunt a totem to bless it with a Boon Effect and you keep Blessing some of them all game why don't you have enough time to cleanse the other totems to prevent NOED?
Like yeah it's strong I get that but, saying it's OP is a bit much considering it can never be activated at all sometimes in some games. So if you Bless them why can't you Cleanse the others?
There have been good replies already, so if I miss something it's likely not that there aren't 10 valid ways to reply to this, just that I feel the others have been said already.
Why don't we have time to cleanse?
- If the description of NOED was simply: "The exit gates remained blocked until all five totems are cleansed.", it would be a strong perk. The amount of time that would waste is enormous. No speed boost or status effect, just time wasting. Yet you're asking us why we don't voluntarily make this effectively part of the killer base kit, by going out of our way to do this every game anyway, just on the ~20% chance that the killer has NOED? How strong must you believe NOED to be, to make an argument like this? We're talking around 5X as strong as my hypothetical perk, that I believe would already be strong. That's how strong YOU surely believe NOED is, to be phrasing your post like you have. But it's not OP, right?
- If I go around cleansing the totems in my SQ games and two of my team mates brought CoH and the killer didn't have NOED, I have singled handily thrown the game for our team. Actively taking away strong perks from my fellow survivors, whilst taking a hell of a long time to do it that could have been spent on gens. This is your advice? You advise survivors behave like this? These are the words of somebody trying to defend NOED and claim it isn't OP? It isn't OP, because you can throw games to make sure you don't face it, even though the killer probably didn't even have it. That's your logic?
"...saying it's OP is a bit much considering it can never be activated at all sometimes..."
Assuming this is referring to the games where you 4k before the gens are done and not those 1% of games where there was no dull totem to bless, you have no argument here whatsoever. If Chelsea FC were found to have broken financial fair play regulations and their punishment for this was to have the results of any PL games next season that they won by 2 or more or lost by 2 or more goals, changed by awarding a goal to their opposition post match, all that would be affected at the end of the season is their goal difference, which is virtually no punishment at all.
-
I couldn't have come to this thread 15 minutes sooner? You know, before there was common sense?
As everyone's been saying, you run it if you want. Most of the survivors who give you **** for it are just ****s. I'm sure some just have a joke about it with you afterwards, because that's probably what I'd do (and I'd hope you're not taking those people the wrong way) but whatever.
The reality though, is that that game described in the OP was probably turned from a fun 4k into a boring 4k, by you running LB. I don't just mean for the survivors either. Unless you're the kind of person that gets off on that **** head power trip from seeing them try and fail to flashy save, you've made the game less fun for you too. Nobody ever escapes from trials with extreme altruism.
-
They could probably do nothing other than simply making the cross play setting set to off by default, rather than on. I think that's all they would need to do. It depends how legitimate these 30 minute survivor queue time claims are I suppose.

Don't see that option on Xbox. It's just a single box to toggle it on and off, doesn't let me pick between Playstation, switch or pc
I must've misunderstood your previous post. You would have them create additional pools of players, despite most of the current ones being too small to be viable?
-
OK Elite, just so we're on the same page:
- You agree with me that turning cross play off is not an option.
- You "don't understand why the current option is not sufficient if you don't want to play against PC players."
We're on the same page, yes? Glad.

So many threads about MMR 😂
Honestly, this experience that lots of people are having where their team mates are the opposite end of the skill spectrum to themselves is not happening to me. That said, I don't remember the last time I played survivor during peak hours. I play killer at those times. I also just play a lot less at those times in general.
My personal experience of the game currently (I'm Xbox ~700 hours, ~65% survivor):
- Survivor off peak - Typical killer and typical team mate are both decent. Mostly strong perk builds. I escape about half the time.
- Survivor peak - I can't remember the last time I played. N/A.
- Pig off peak - Typical survivors are decent. Mostly strong perk builds. I average around 2k.
- Pig peak - 4k every game. Every game. Something like 1 in my last 20 games (it might be 0) after ~9pm have not been a 4k, not even a hatch (I do slug to prevent hatch).
This experience of having thousands of hours under your belt and being teamed with babies makes sense to me, if playing during peak survivor queuing times. I believe the MMR gets at least partially turned off during these times. So if you're someone playing during those times, and you've stated that this has been your experience, I believe you. That seems very logical to me.
If you play during off peak hours and are still struggling with MMR, then I kind of just don't believe you. It certainly doesn't line up with my experiences, at least. I'm finding that most games contain mostly other players around my level.
P.S. Jean, what are you talking about? You either play in a very strong SWF every game or you're the best DbD player on the planet.
JeanCharpentier - "...escaping like 80% of my trials."

Three escapes is a win. It's kind of as simple as that for me.
Winning isn't the priority obviously, having a fun and close game is, but on a purely fundamental level three escapes is definitely a win.

That applies to crossplay off on every platform, and this wouldn't change that. Most people simply do not care if they're facing other platforms
I'm struggling to understand what you're trying to say, to be perfectly honest.
I think you're trying to say that you believe my description of the cross play off experience is accurate, and that it is comparable on PS and PC too. I don't know what you mean by "this wouldn't change that".
Assuming I interpreted your post correctly, it sounds like you're calling a lot of people on these forums liars. I'm new here and even I have lost count of how many PC players I've seen talk about them playing with cross play off. It sounds like the standard is higher (obviously lol), and the range of killers you face is narrower with more Blights and Nurses (again, super obvious lol). I've never heard any of these guys describe their cross play experience to be anything like how I described mine.
As for people not caring, well I honestly don't know. Before I came to this thread, I never knew that this game didn't always have cross play and I found burt's post very interesting. I hadn't thought of any good reason why cross play existed until I saw that, so TY burt. The list of advantages that PC players have is almost endless. How much people care about that though, IDK. I certainly do care. Not because of hackers though LOL just #########. 700 hours and I've never knowingly seen one. Grow up.
-
The whole concept of boons falls flat for me. Both sides can use bones, but only one side can remove them? I find it fundamentally painful to wrap my head around. I personally would attempt fix both this and the balance in one simple change:
When a killer snuffs out a boon, they break the bones.
That's it. That's the change. Neither side can stop the other from using their bone perks. Both sides can remove after they've been used. The survivor can still use the perk again on a different set of bones. The killer can't break unlit bones.
Any further balancing that might be required would also very straightforward to implement; simply adjust the healing speed of the boon. Nothing else.
-
@DemonDaddy said:
Not that I would turn crossplay off, but would be nice if you could enable the setting for individual platforms.
You can. Most posts before yours talk about it.

@SkeletalElite said:
I don't understand why the current option is not sufficient if you don't want to play against PC players.
Then you've never tried it. You're part of a pool of about 10 players. Even the most confrontational of people wouldn't argue your point, if they had experienced that mess first hand. You will literally wait 20 minutes to be put in a game and then probably be put in a game in which the other survivors are playing with the killer. No, that is not an exaggeration.
-
Several people in this thread have shown us legitimate and mature ways to talk about why they always or sometimes run this perk. Why couldn't the OP just do that?
-

ITT Survivors desperately trying to stop people from using Lightborn by passively-aggressively saying they 'must' be low MMR, whereas the normal party line is about how 'impossible' it is to know anyone's MMR.
Knowing your approximate killer MMR really doesn't take a genius. You basically just look at your kills when you play in the evening. If you average around ~2k during the day, but ~3.5k in the evenings, you're probably decent. If you average ~2k during the day, but ~1k in the evening, you probably run Lightborn.

After having constantly seen myself being T-bagged and made fun of by survivors who constantly save their teammates by using flashlights, I finally decided to say "whatever, I just sacrifice one perk slot for Lightborn if I must"... And oh boy have I had a blast hearing post-game cries from every single survivor afterward.
It's like you are not allowed to run this perk, else it is not fair for survivors or something. Seriously, survivors get so mad seeing me run this perk, even when I don't get any value out of it if it so happens that survivors don't bring a flashlight with them or can't find one in chests, they still find a reason to make a case how I am a bad killer for bringing such "useless" perk. What's more fun, if I say "I just like to run it even if it does not bring any value" - they still try to make a case how I don't know what I am doing and will go great lengths trying to convince me how I should not use it. This happens almost every single game in high MMR.
"What's more fun, if I say "I just like to run it even if it does not bring any value" - they still try to make a case how I don't know what I am doing and will go great lengths trying to convince me how I should not use it."
This sounds to me like you're describing people genuinely trying to be helpful...
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't believe you're a high MMR killer. I do think it's possible to have a good idea of your MMR, I just don't believe that yours is correct.

What hackers? What are you going on about? 🤣

I think I have about 50 of these. I used about 10 of them shortly after the change, which feels like quite a while ago now to be honest. Those games were tough. 100% this iridescent add on is a nerf of her power. In a lot of those games I played it with the add on that blinds survivors from the boxes until the traps are active, which sounds like it should work so well. The way the gens seemed to fly later on in those games just felt like nothing I've seen in any other games.
I'm sure I'll try it again at some point to refresh my memory, however I definitely remember this feeling like quite a large self nerf. I run no add ons quite often, or at least I used to, and that felt better than this.
-
I'm honestly just guessing at the basement thing😂 It just seems logical to me.

Probably cleanse if you're in solos because of how unpredictable they are, and teammates can be bad in solo queue, allowing for Plague to snowball more easily. If you're in an SWF and your teammates are good, not cleansing would be the better option.
Basically the opposite of this, is my view. If I'm SQ, which I usually am, I don't know who/what I'm playing with. I could easily with with a 2 or 3 man SWF who want to not cleanse. I'm not going to ruin the game for them. I'm comfortable enough being injured all game, if that's how they want to play it. If others start to cleanse, then I'll cleanse. Dino said it well, everybody should be on the same page.
-
Agreed ^
Just about the only time a survivor should actually be searching a chest to benefit the team surviving is when they desperately need a heal for a late save and they can't find anybody/it's just them left. Since I'm going to go ahead and assume that the basement chest is always the one that is left, cut coin barely even influences that situation positively, as that's where they'll look for it anyway. So therefore the only real influence it has on the game is to stop the survivors from being their usual idiot selves and force them to actually try to escape. 75% of the time, you're making the game harder for yourself by bringing this offering, whilst making the game less fun for 80% of the players in the game.
Also, having the middle option as 50% of the time you own one is crazy talk. The middle option... The top option should have been maybe 25%+...
P.S. At least 95% of the killer offerings I play are BP. If I don't have any, I'll sink a couple of million more BP into that killer so that I do.

That's all there really is to it. This game is so survivor-sided at this point that playing killer just isn't worth the headache and frustration anymore. I used to enjoy playing killer before dead hard validation, constant boons, borrowed time's changes, just everything that has made playing survivor easier. The cherry on top are these stupid snowmen. I'll be inches from a person and they hop into a snowman to tank another hit and make enough distance to start looping again. I feel like BHVR has made all of these changes to make playing survivor more fun since it's the statistically more played role, but they don't take into account that playing killer is just as necessary and needs to feel rewarding. As of now, it feels absolutely dreadful to hit someone, they scream, you go into cooldown, but they pressed Dead Hard on their McDonald's wifi and have now made it to another loop. I'm just sick of feeling like instead of having to outsmart 4 survivors, I have to outsmart 4 survivors and all of the game's second chances to at least get one kill. Am I alone in thinking this?
Erm, my post has apparently disappeared. Fun fun. Let's try again...
Playing killer is definitely still fun. DH hit validation was a very badly needed change. Hitting survivors as they enter the snowmen (which is a slow process) still injures them, so you have clearly never been in the situation that you wrongly claim sucks. Fortnight is nothing like DbD.

Playing killer is fine. It's fun. DH hit validation was needed, a huge improvement. If you're an inch away when they get in the snowman, you'll hit them as the animation to get in is slow and you injure them during it, so you're just full of it. Fortnight isn't anything like DbD. Next.

As killer, I used to use any excuse to give hatch. I almost never do now. It's just effort and a time waste. I also want the hardest games I can get with this MMR system.
As survivor... Honestly, in most cases I'll just give up. I'll probably play normally until I'm hooked, then I'll likely just self kill. It depends on my mood, but usually I just CBA if the game is over. It's no fun for me if the result is decided.
-
They don't even tell us what platform people were playing on, but you think they might give us this? lol
-
Probably the most well balanced killer in the game right now.
-
This has been bugging me. I just had to come back and comment again sorry lol.
If an average chase is ~ 2 mins, then I think it'd be fair to say that the first chase of the game would be ~ 3 mins. You have all the pallets on the map, the killer has broken no walls to help them and none of their perks or powers such as StBfL or main event are tiered up, compare that to chases late on and if the average chase is about 2...
80x5/3=133. That simple maths means that of you can hold chase for 3 mins, you really should be somewhat annoyed with your team mates if all 5 gens havent popped. If this poll had been answered accurately, the average DbD game would be a 4 man escape with 1 or 0 total hooks.

Anybody else get the feeling that the OP has about five hours of game time?
Now I know, from selecting the option to record the last five minutes on my Xbox when I've been hooked after a long chase and seeing the chase not yet started, that I have lasted more than five minutes exactly twice in my 700 hours (65% survivor) of playing the game.
It's just a funny question that's been asked very badly. I don't consider myself bad in chase. In fact, I'd bet my house on me being above average in chases for my MMR, as I'm frquently taking hits and hooks for randos and going for risky late unhooks that result in random people playing with me getting "my" escape instead of me. I don't value my escape above the escpes of my team mates and I do value taking risks and making mistakes to learn and have fun. My MMR will most definitely be below my skill level and therefore the killers I face will typically be weaker players than myself and yet my "mean" chase is definitely not as long as two minutes.
A lot of people have lied in this poll.
Edit: Oh and typically all four perks I run are the help in chase. DH IW Resilience Windows is my current most popular build. Oh AND I quite often play with my GF, who sucks, sometimes having me matched up against genuine baby killers, who honestly I could sometimes run for 10 minutes, but they either repeatedly lose me (I try to help them find me again) or they're snart enough to break off chase intentionally, or simply the game ends and I escape. How do you really have 5 minutes chases?
-
I guess all the Billys and Hags just queue up when I do then... I face them both plenty.

2) Freddy
3) Deathslinger/Oni/Clown
Third is tough for me to call. First and second were easy. IDK where Hag came from...

I think survivor sounds are fine with the minor exception that I think Iron Will 3 should be 90% instead of 100% sound reduction since it being 100% breaks Stridor. (90% sound reduction would still be significantly better than Iron Will 2, but also allow Stridor to still increase those sounds.)
They should revert the Stridor nerf. They clearly just wanted to nerf Spirit, not the perk. It was a bad decision by the devs.

I have never seen this perk go off. I'm Xbox so no PTB. I've played against this killer probably around 10 times. I usually don't check what perks the killer ran. Has it never gone off because they're not running it? Has it never gone off because getting 4 BBQ stacks often doesn't happen? In either case it's clear it's just weak. You can tell just from reading the description that it's obviously weak. Should I see it go off in one of my games will it change the game? Probably not. Everyone is just going to hide/heal/rescue. If all survivor auras were revealed and if the gens were blocked for 60 seconds... Honestly, it'd still probably be average at best.
I mean, the 5 seconds of seeing the obsession part of this perk is just a joke 🤣. The obsession could be dead. The obsession could be hooked (we know at least one person is). The obsession could be in a locker to avoid BBQ. The obsession could be more than 40 meters away and revealed by BBQ anyway, which you're almost certainly running too, so this does nothing. Once approximately every other game, when this perk activates, you have actually quite a small chance of seeing the aura of a single survivor for 5 seconds? 😂 Just wow, what is the point?

They even respawn. So even if you were somehow dumb enough to waste your time going around popping them in advance...

I think you misread the "shouldn't get mad if their team lets them die" part, I'm not sure why that's a Blendette thing when they are saying Blendies shouldn't get mad if their team gives them a taste of their medicine. Also, I'm not a stealth player and I don't find anything wrong with stealth when used well, so I hope you don't want me in your games either.
If I misread it, which after reading it back a few times just now, I would say is definitely possible... Why would multiple people spend effort insulting me, rather than letting me know that, like you just have.
I think it should be very obvious from everything I've said, that if HB meant that Blendettes shouldn't complain about being left to die on the hook, that I would whole heartedly agree with that. Clearly.
Thanks for pointing that out. I suspect you're right. It would make sense of people liking and defending that post. It makes no sense to me that people wouldn't see that I'd clearly misread it, but what are you going to do?
-
Right OK. So these forums are a place where comments such as "...one shouldn’t get mad when the team leaves them to die." get defended and liked. Good to know. Everybody loves a Blendette apparently. Who knew?
-
So, you understand that the emblem system is nothing more than an indication of how much a person has played since the 13th, and is in no way related to their hidden MMR that affects the matchmaking?

One second you're talking about MMR, the next you're talking about pipping. I just to check that you know the two things aren't related. Your posts seem to be intertwining the two things a lot.
