Yes, the problem is that this mechanic can basically be entirely negated, due to how many things Survivors have to push gens quicker in this mode (toolboxes, Guide class being up to four people with a large range and affecting everyone in that range, duoing on gens, reduced gen repair charges basekit, etc.). Killers thus have to slug from the word go or tunnel someone out ASAP because doing otherwise powers Survivors as a whole up way too much - and they already are extremely powerful in this mode.
The mechanic punishes you for spreading hooks and NOT tunnelling, it was not implemented right. It should have been something like 2.5% PER KILL, not PER HOOK. I also, lowkey, think maybe Moris on Death Hook should be basekit in this mode in general or the pickup speed should be like having five stacks of Fire Up - having to pick up wastes time, that wasn't an issue in 2v8 1.0 because you could stomp Survivors. Killers didn't need more time wasters in the mode, SURVIVORS did. So maybe, a basekit gen control, slowdown, or regression would be helpful per Killer class - maybe one introduces ruin type hexes that can relight, maybe another is lockdown-info like a buffed Thrilling Tremors, maybe one is regression per kick like Pop.
-
This would reward slugging for a long time. Rather, I think we should make the bleedout timer be something like 2 minutes instead. 2 minutes is enough for two gens or a gate, and more than enough time for someone to pick a slug up on either side. It's also about the length it takes the full sacrifice animation to happen on a hook, twice as long as Ghostface and Myers' Exposes work, and the length of endgame collapse. If 1-2 minutes is good enough for these things, it's more than good enough for a bleedout.

I still think once you're fully recovered you should be able to press the rush button to enter "Desperation" and: -
- Crawl 50% faster
- Make 50% louder grunts of pain
- Bleed out 75% faster
I also think a player in the dying state should be able to:
- Swap items on the floor and in chests
- Open chests at a 25% penalty
- Use a key to open a closed hatch
At least this gives something for the slugged player to actually TRY to escape, rather than just sit and wait to die. Also Temacity value.
I lowkey support this idea on both sides. As Surv there is nothing worse than when I am downed as one of the last two, then the Killer cannot find me so I bleed out. As Killer, I hate losing slugs too, it's legitimately my nightmare scenario and it's happened way too many times. I'm a pretty nice Killer - I still like to give hatch even with the basekit Mori and I'm just not into slugging for anything more than quick pressure. Sometimes, I will down one of the two at the end then kill the other, but give the first person downed the Hatch as a sort of "sorry about that long slug but I wanted your friend more than you, here's the hatch/gate for your trouble". I actually don't enjoy slugging unless I absolutely need it for pressure, I WANT to spread my hooks due to my build and I hate it if I have to leave someone slugged and then they crawl away and I cannot find them, so we both waste 4 minutes at the end.
I would support this idea for the louder noises and faster bleedout alone, but the basekit Tenacity, being able to use keys, and being able to swap items is nice. Though I do think with this change, Tenacity itself would need something else - perhaps it reveals where exits and the hatch or chests or something like that are if you're Death Hook, Wounded, or last Survivor?

Well, my pick for a dream chapter was Candyman, but that's never happening for tragic but expectable reasons… :( RIP Todd. You were the Sweetest way to die.
-
As an occasional Nemesis enjoyer I full-throatedly support a Mr. X Legendary/Visceral skin for the Nemesis. Please. I wanna look dapper when I punch you.
-
I am fine with nerfing regression if we also nerf progression tools. We are not nerfing progression tools, though.
-
To be very fair, Killers also do this. They also offer strong maps for themselves, however I usually only see it as ranged Killers who need open maps, or stealth Killers who like indoor maps… or Skurchent.
I feel like Map Offerings should actually work the other way and guarantee you DON'T go to that map. That way there's less manipulability and more randomness, and we don't have as much of this syndrome of "I am gonna force Ghostface to play on Coldwind, and Billy to play on RPD" or "I am gonna force the Survivors to face my Huntress on Ormond." You'd have to adjust the achievements for them, of course!
-
I feel like Blight's Hugtech removal messed up collision on other Killers as well; Ghostface's leaning has been bugged since they started addressing the Hugtech thing.

We dont need more god pallets…literally in a map with 0 god pallets
We don't need extra God Pallets in the game, period. One or two per map is more than enough. And Thompson House has a Shack, that IS a God Pallet.
They have to consider the other half of the roster for which yes, a tile like that would be a massive issue. You cannot just design the tiles like every Killer is Nemesis, Xenomorph, Wesker, Legion, or Blight. You have to consider Killers that must play around tiles, too - EVERYONE has to play on these maps.
The Cowshed Maps are a bit too Killer-sided, I agree. Mostly, Thompson due to size and Rotten Fields due to complete absence of anything useful there. I think they can fix it by adding a COUPLE more filler, junk, or line of sight breaker tiles. No more strong vaults or pallets however; we had too many last time and it made the maps pretty abysmally Survivor-Sided. Really, I do think Rotten Fields could be retired, it won't ever be good, and I think we could make Thompson House a LITTLE larger. I also think maybe we do not need both Abattoir and Cowshed, they're both basically the same map anyway. Lose one or the other?

Can someone elaborate more so on what they mean by "Negating the catchup mechanic", because I've heard this a few times and don't fully understand what is meant by this. Are you referring to the skillcheck bonus being a flat % and effectively negating it or is there something else I am not aware of? Because as far as I'm aware, Guide is by far the weakest skill for reasons I explained in the main post.
@kommandantlocke pointed it out already but the math shakes out like this:
2.5% bonus for Survivor per Survivor, per hookstage. That means every Surv gets, baseline, a stacking and increasing permanent FREE 7.5% boost to genspeed all round, on every Survivor, PER Survivor. Everyone is essentially walking around and slowly being given free basekit Resilience just for Killers playing normally. On top of this, Guide offers an 8% bonus PER Survivor running it to gen repair, as well as gifting that through its class skill to ANYONE AND EVERYONE within a fairly large radius when activated for a second. This increases if Survivors work together on a gen, and if the Survivors manage to find a toolbox, which are not uncommon in 2v8, this can increase EVEN MORE because they all stack. And the most commonly found toolboxes are browns and yellows, which increase gen efficiency by 50%. You can have up to four people on some of these gens. And one more thing - the gens take way less charges to finish, I think it's something like 60-70 seconds. Because of this, multiple gens can be done in sub 1 or 2 minutes, because of sheer number of Survs. And this is every. Time. Killers. Hook.Meanwhile, Killers only get a 5% regression per completed gen. The Survs only need to do 8. This also stacks, but baseline regression is 5%. So every time a gen is done, add 5%. Now that means when one gen is left you can remove up to 40% of a gen, but remember - there are more Survs than Killers and they can easily undo that between toolboxes, Guide, the catchup mechanic, and sheer numbers. So really, that up to 40% means nothing, because if even one person has a toolbox, enough people have Guide, and enough hooks happen, the Survs can still power through. The Killers will not and cannot win by spreading hooks, they basically have to play sweaty and hardcore, which is why you see so much hyper-aggro Killer play in 2v8. Unlike 1v4, there is no way to control the runaway genspeed besides kicking, which wastes time in this mode. Unlke 1v4, the gens legitimately do, 100%, go too fast to handle for many Killers of average skill.
In other words? BHVR screwed up the catchup mechanic by basing it on hooks not Kills, and they overtuned Guide WAY too much. They overestimated the true strength of Killers in 2v8, and this is the result - extremely breezy matches for Survivors if they have some teamwork and even remotely try, and extremely tense, sweaty, difficult matches for Killer where you wait 20+ minutes for a game that is over in 8 minutes.

Except you need to realize you'll never satisfied with what they do they have tried and even with 2v8 becoming completely survivor sided y'all still ain't happy it's time for Devs to get the belt on Survs and teach them discipline
I really am afraid you're right, I mean I've heard of people DCing in 2V8 because… they got downed first. That's it. That's all. They didn't loop the Killer(s) and got downed first.
Imagine being so entitled you DC from the Survivor-sided mode because you don't get to stomp the Killers into the dirt hard enough.

@ChuckingWong said:
Because everyone wants to play the easy and unique side of the game. Not enough survivors to fill the people that just want to steamroll
Killers are steamrolling in this mode as anyone besides Blight + Billy?
-
I guess entitled people are still entitled no matter how easy you make the mode.
-
When will they add Ghostface to 2v8 so I can teabag five Survivors back when they all are teabagging me behind a pallet and we can all have a fun little dance party together? :(
-
We don't need more God Pallets in 1v4, some of the maps have enough of those already. We could arguably need more weak pallets to help chain loops, but we do not need more God or Strong pallets. Or god/strong windows for that matter.
-
Easy fix: you shouldn't be able to self-unhook unless you're running perks like Deli, Up the Ante, or Slippery Meat. Just make that fix, and now the issue solves itself.

i think what keeps them different is exposed vs fast traversal/movement speed. some killer player heavily over-value moving around the map quickly. says that it boosts their map presence or something.
It is so, so refreshing to hear someone else say this, I have always said it. Map traversal and movement isn't everything. Every Killer can control a map, some just do it in different ways. Ghostie's version isn't map traversal, it's not knowing where he might BE. Not being able to be found and thus not knowing where he could be at, is how he controls the map. It's intended to make Survivors play more carefully.
The problem is the Reveal mechanic doesn't always play nice with this idea.

@ArkInk said:
I think my issue with GF is how fragile his gameplay can end up being. Sneak around and stalk only saves you time if you don't get caught often, and sometimes there simply isn't a direction to approach from that leaves you in a stealthy position.
That said, he's one of my true favorites to play and I'll stick by him no matter what. The QoL buffs he's getting should be nice for now, so I'm content.
If there was any change I'd make, it'd be that survivors get a prompt and have to hold line of sight on GF while pressing it to reveal him, so that oblivious players don't end up busting him out of stealth.
This is part of it, I think Reveal is too sensitive and also too harsh. You NEED to keep Shroud up as much as possible; Reveal itself is not the issue, it's the fact it's so sensitive you can't keep Shroud up reliably without addons like Walleye's. It's too severe a punishment for what it is. It only seems to work if you are very close to him but not TOO close. It also needs to just… take longer to Reveal basekit and also needs to drop its progress when someone stops staring at you. I can control my stalk, Survivors should be able to be more tactical about Reveal and Ghostface should not be punished for bad ping or server issues with the Reveal.
I like the idea you came up with, I also think if they are doing stuff like healing, cleansing, repairs, etc. it should be harder for them to Reveal him - the character is focusing on something after all.

Last 2v8 was 400% and it still had the same issue. it needs to be 500%+
Any amount of BP is not enough because the draw of the mode isn't, and never will be, 8 Survivors at once.
-
Houndmaster looks kinda fun as what I call a Modified M1, or an M1+ - a Killer that is basically M1 but has some element of their kit that makes them slightly M2. Since I main M1s and Modified M1s, she looks like she could be right up my alley - not to complex a kit, but has basically all she needs to succeed. The dog's adorable too!
Taurie looks cool and I am happy we have a finally, canonically EVIL Survivor. I mean actually cultist evil. I will instant add her to my Survivor roster, she's nifty.
The perks all look good to middling. I am slightly worried about some, but it depends.
Mostly happy with the Killer changes. Demo, Myers, and Ghostface all got some attention, I play all three to some degree. This will mean I will need to give Demo another look, I can finally have some more fun as Myers again, and while my beloved Main Ghostie is in need of more help this makes him just a bit better - I won't need to run Walleye's anymore, I can use something like Driver's License or Drop-Leg instead!
I am mostly happiest that 2v8 will be gone by then so I can finally get in a game and play.
-
And they are all playing like they have to win the $5 Subway gift card.
-
I know you're trolling, but if you think Killer is too easy?
Well, M1s and older Killers without antiloop abilities or mobility are here for you. They actually have to chase and strategize with what they have. That's sometimes quite challenging. Trying to win the game with a more limited kit is interesting and tough, and you get to do fun mindgames in chase with Survivors instead of just slap people over vaults easily. That's part of why I Main these supposed "weaker" Killers with weaker chase. Because antiloop, high mobility, heavy kit Killers make the game too easy and are boring after a while to me.
I'm not surprised you find Killer too easy if you only main Killers like Xeno and Dracula.
-
As Survivor it's these:
- Flashlight use. I can't aim a beamer to save my life, literally. I think I've maybe gotten about four flashlight blinds in two years and all of them were at pallets or on AFK Killers, or friendly ones helping me do challenges. If I need to blind for a challenge I just throw on Blast Mine and hope for the best.
- I specifically struggle HARD against Killers like Trickster or Xeno, Killers I really cannot do any looping against, they're too difficult for me to handle. But when I PLAY as them I suck and get my entire butt kicked. >_<"
- I keep getting lost on some indoor maps, specifically on Hawkins and Gideon the most. I can navigate them all just fine as Killer, but for some reason the third person perspective trips me up.
As Killer it's these:
- Learning how to lose with more grace. I am way too hard on myself and take Killer way too seriously sometimes, and that's bad because I mostly main Mid tier M1s, and my primary Killer main Ghostface isn't exactly the strongest.
- I badly struggle with M2 Killers in general; I am so used to M1ing and mindgames I can't do much when I have TWO cooldowns to worry about if I miss. I mean I haven't gotten nearly a single one to work for me. About the only two I have ever figured out and gotten results with are Pinhead and Nemesis - and Pinhead really isn't much of an M2 Killer, he's a glorified M1 with a fancy hindering tool and some basekit slowdown.
- I can't run speedy or dash Killers. Just can't. Legion is about as fast as I can stand. They either make me nauseous, or they feel so slippery on controller I can't make them function and just make a fool of myself. I've never made Wesker, Blight, or even Billy function for me.
-
It's probably a SWF who a) is salty they didn't get an M1 Killer they can easily loop on Gideon (as their setup implies they wanted to do), b) does not like Trickster. They happened to be unlucky and got Gideon which isn't that bad a map for Trickster.

Just chucking this side not here too, thank you to everyone here who's been respectful in their responses. I don't need everyone to hate this game mode too, it is nice to know there's like-minded individuals here though for sure. I do appreciate that we can all have our own opinions & actually have something to elaborate on more than just the usual unhelpful lines. I maybe could have formulated my post better if I wasn't seething at the time. But regardless I do mean it though I think the game mode sucks. It's survivor sided for the most part & much like how the Haunted event was killer sided this time around it feels like once again we're flipping stuff from one extreme to the other, it can never just be balanced can it.? I hate the lack of variety in killers too, I hate the effect it has on queue times in regular 1v4 also yes. I realised I played 6 games, 3 of each side not 5 games total but any good moments were drastically overshadowed by the constant annoyance of the game mode. It's more casual than 1v4 by design because it serves no other purpose than to be played for a limited time, that however doesn't stop killers from still using "tunneling strats" or survivors absolutely try harding. While I hear the opinions that maybe I should play more & get a better reflection on the game mode, I am in a state of just wanting to play as few games as possible to do as few challenges as possible to get the rewards from the event & then take a break till the next chapter comes out. The game mode while it's around makes playing DbD at all seem unbearable. Which is not the intended affect I'd like to assume.
Anyway I've rambled again, I said it at first but I will say it again, thanks everyone for being so respectful. I've read all the takes & genuinely think the points being said of everything/anything are entirely valid. If anyone's playing DbD I wish you luck in the fog, otherwise have a great day regardless.
Well, I don't hate 2v8. I am just extremely, extremely disappointed with it. :(
And @BlackRose89 There's literally already people, entitled people on both sides of the aisle, on these very forums asking for it to be extended longer so they can get easy wins while everyone else suffers.

So sorry some of us want our normal queue times back. Personally I wouldn't care less if this mode was extended if it didn't ruin the mode I enjoy playing but it does and that is why a lot of us who want it gone don't want to suffer another week or two. But hey enjoy your 20min queue times while the rest of us cant even enjoy the game bc we dont have alot of time at night to spent in queue.
I think this person rarely plays Killer, judging by their post history.

I bet if they did a poll the vast majority of players would want 2v8 extended. It's only the small minority of 1v4 killer mains who want it to end.
Not to be rude but you are wrong. Simply look at who is getting upvoted here more. It's not you or anyone else who wants the mode to stay being upvoted. It's everyone who wants the normal game back.
Let it go. The mode is not good for the game, and should never have been two weeks. We have tried this twice now. It doesn't work. It needs to be its own game, not this.
People are bored with the wait. They're bored as Survivor with NOTHING TO DO EXCEPT GENS AND LOOP. Games are STILL one-sided stomps, either Survs get their act together and win or they do everything else and lose. There's not much new for Survivors and Killer feels stressful this time around. That isn't good for game health no matter HOW much you like the mode or how much you despise Killer players (and you DO, you do despise Killers based on your post history) and wish for them to suffer.
The rest of the community across Reddit, Youtube, Discord, EVERYWHERE is saying the same things we are here. This isn't a fluke, I'm sorry. The vast, and I mean VAST majority of ALL players, not just "Killer Mains" (newsflash exclusive one side only mains don't exist, almost everyone plays both sides at least a little), want this mode gone so we can all go back to 1v4.
Now cut the Us vs. Them. It's a really bad look. You're better than this.

Majority of killers: *camp, tunnel, bring 2-4 slowdown perks* hmm why are my ques so long? 🧐
That… that has nothing to do with 2v8. You can't bring slowdown in 2v8.
Unfortunately.
The queues are not long because of Killers "playing scummy", the queues are long because of everyone wanting to play Killer with a friend which is the only ACTUAL appeal of the mode. It sure isn't the lacklustre Survivor side gameplay…
And queues in1v4 are totally fine, near instant for most people, in 1v4 with no mode or event on even with Killers camping, slugging, tunnelling, AND bringing slowdown. People still queue up.
Your post makes no sense and adds unneeded us vs. them for no reason.

I would be playing it as surv non stop (by non stop I mean every second I can play any game would be 2v8 until it leaves) if the BP incentive stop fluctuating that much. There's some hours that there's 0%.
My Vecna is not p100 yet.
Playing as surv is fun, specially if you do like me and listen a OST from your character while you play (Jill while listening Sad, but True both from RE5 and MvC3), but I prefer to use my time in it when the incentives are at least 250%
What about a 800% BP for surv? It's certainly nice for gaining BP as Surv. The problem is, the mode is really only fun as Surv because if half of the team has half a brain, the wins are free since Survivors got extra buffed and Killers got slight nerfs this time.

I believe they need to remove this mode and come up with something else. While I know that a lot of people enjoy this mode, it's negatively impacting the main game. Players will eventually tire of the long queue times and may end up quitting the game altogether. Bringing this mode back for just two weeks isn't beneficial; it's causing frustration among players during that time. Steam numbers didn't seem to change much like when the first iteration of the mode was released; it needs to be scrapped, in my opinion.
I know for a fact I am not playing DBD at all right now. The mode is a snooze, and it's literally impacting the rest of the game.
Literally, just make it its own game. It shouldn't be a mode, let alone permanent. The people who like it are mostly Survivors seeking easier wins and people who want the easiest possible version of DBD anyway.
-
Turbobuff him and make him and Legion the only two that can duo with themselves. Just do it BHVR. Would instantly redeem this boring and soulless mode.
-
Guide is actually more overtuned than Escapist, Escapist is fine. Guide is broken with the catchup mechanic because it can NEGATE the catchup mechanic for Killer, plus stacks with it and toolboxes for Survivor.
-
You already get it for two weeks. Just like last time after the extension.
The rest of us want our normal queue times back so we can enjoy the game with all the perks, maps and other 30ish Killers we paid for. It doesn't need an extension, it needs to remain limited. The game cannot handle it.

I'm really sorry to say this, but both times this event has happened have proven why it never can be permanent - because the queues legitimately cannot handle it, no matter how many things they add to entice Survivors to play. The Survivor gameplay is just that boring.

I agree with you that 2v8 sucks and honestly I think the mode is overhyped. For me I don't like how it affects the game as a whole, not only is killer queues painful long for it but it also causes queues be long for normal mode as well. Then you have the game play, for killer I find it unfun having to depend on some random to pull their own weight in the mode and the killers available are none I enjoy playing. For survivor I find the gameplay extremely boring because all you doing is fixing gens just like 1v4 but now you have double amount of teammates who will just let you down.
As for those who claim that the mode is "casual" I have no idea where ppl getting this idea from. The matches I have had both on killer and survivor have been extremely sweaty and unfun. As killer I had matches end in 6 minutes and then back into a 20 min queue, fun right? Completely worth the wait to have 6 minutes of getting your ass handed to you, SO MUCH FUN and totally chill... Then as survivor you run into meta killers all the time especially blights who just mow down your teammates in matters of minutes. The mode is just as try hard and sweaty as normal 1v4 so do kid yourself. There definitely a meta forming in the mode for both sides.
Overall I HATE the mode and it ruins the game for me because I can't even ignore the damn thing since it affects my queues in normal as well. The mode is overhyped bc it new and ppl with friends can finally play killer with them... Good for y'all but your enjoyment is subtracting from my own bc I can't even play the mode I want be the queue times are to damn long....
This is kinda my issue with it. It's the casual mode, but the Survivors I get don't treat it as casual. Nor do the Killers I get. It is genrushing, looping the broken extra strong tiles and pallets you can rebuild, and the sweatiest combination of tunnelling Blights and slug Billies nearly every round for me. It is actually LESS fun and MORE sweaty for me because everyone I run into keeps PLAYING it sweaty. In the casual arcade mode. And like, for what? You can't pip in it, is the 8 man out/8k really that important to you all?
Everything is more powerful, but also way more obnoxious. Being tag-teamed isn't fun gameplay, period. Being genrushed after waiting 20 minutes isn't fun gameplay, period. The rounds are over so fast, it was barely a game. And it keeps messing up queue times for everyone across the board. Oh, and then there's the fact I either stack with my friends in a SWF and we destroy, or Iget double the random potatoes who are allergic to both generators and Terror Radii, so what is the point as Survivor? Free wins do not feel like actual wins. The whole mode just feels like such a bland stripped down experience, reduced to just "chase Survs"/"Do gens". And none of the Killers I actually want to play are in it, and likely never will be, because almost all my Killer Mains are licensed. There is legitimately nothing in it for me but disappointment.
I tried. I really did try. I tried to have fun with it last time and got bored after one week, then they EXTENDED it so I had to go on break for a month from DBD because the 2v8 queues ruined 1v4 queues, too. Not a single game could I get into, for the entire time it was on. Now they're doing it again, the same stupid thing is happening, and I got even more bored the second time around. Nothing really changed, the same issues as before are there, and it still doesn't feel that good to me or have anything interesting for me whatsoever. I just cannot and do not get the hype. At all.
I am very happy for the people that enjoy this mode. I'm glad you have it and I'm glad it's limited as well. But the vast, I mean the VAST majority of players, I think, just want normal DBD - a growing sentiment I am seeing from others in the community across Reddit, these forums, and various Discord servers and social media sites. The mode is not good, and this is not what people want, they actually prefer 1v4 DBD. Not this stripped down, soulless husk of an arcade version. And the fact is, the only reason it's actually successful is because it's a chance to play Killer with a friend. That's it. That's the only real appeal of the mode. If you like it for any other reason, you don't like DBD - you like winning DBD with busted toolkits.
2v8 sucks. It frankly, just sucks. And I really do not think it's going to get much better by just adding more classes, maps, and Killers. It's always going to just feel like more of the same bland, soulless, half-experience compared to 1v4. Always.

I don't find that tense, I just find it annoying.

Had a twins that did the famous knock out and not hooking people at 5 gens yesterday and this was on solo q so nothing could be done.
Ofc my team and I was disgusted and called them out and they make 1million excuse and pathetic gg ez use expo use soul guard use wglf(the same thing that already got gutted back after 1 week after its buff cause killers wah wah wah get withgood etc( and this is on hawkins the most garbage indoor killer sided map like midwitch so its not as if juking victor was impossible.
Am sure they the same pathetic trashcan though who cry swf bully or dc and gave me 4 bots post which occur to me why I and those guys didnt as I wouldnt blame them I guess like me those three dont dc for everything as 45 seconds would not be bad
So help me god if I see that person as survivor or killer cause karma is a ######### all that for 10k points and when you see their steam its all negative comments. Some people really just have no ambition.
I genuinely don't understand people who play Twins that way, why wouldn't you just go for fun cool snipes with Victor or something?

So I know it is easy to say but imho the key is to change your mindset.
- instead of "performing" (and aiming to win), try to focus on “training” and getting better. This way even if you lose it is alright cause you will still learn about your mistakes. That’s what I am doing currently as Plague.
- be nice to survivors, even when they are toxic. Pretend they are your friends you are having fun with (even if you don’t have any). That Ada Wong is furiously tbagging and clicking, trying to lure you at shack ? Haha, she is so funny and quirky thinking it’s going to work (let’s pretend she is absolutely not toxic). Let them say their insults in the end game chat and then drop a "gg you were all very good, have a nice day" and now, if they are decent human beings they will feel like fools.
I every so often go back into training mode and let myself lose more by "throwing games" to sharpen my skills. Basically, that would mean I try to win with my power only, not just my perks and addons. I give them a game but I'm not trying very hard, so if they win, cool - free win for them, no pressure while I practice and some extra BP for me. For extra vibes I'll throw on music, so I can't hear much, so there's no real pressure to perform and I KNOW I am handicapped anyway. I actually have playlists for each of my most played Killers, and I use that to kinda just… vibe and practice.
So, if I need to derust as Ghostface, let's say, I would "throw" by trying to go for Stalking and Marking, rather than too many chases. If i lose, I lose. If I win, cool, and then I keep doing this getting better until the games start to improve or I can pretty easily 8hook and chill without feeling stressed. I do this for any Killer I need to get better at or feel like the game is too hard with. It seems to work.
When you play nonsweaty and force yourself to do so, then you not only get better, you get better less sweaty games. Turns out, nice guys DO finish first… eventually.

Where exactly is it stated you get a DC penalty for being AFK all match? Never have i known that to be a thing in DBD and never seen it stated anywhere.
There has been an issue with AFK killers in 2v8 who are doing it just to be malicious but I do think an auto kick feature would be good for afk killers and survivors. It happens after about… 2 minutes I believe, kicking with a penalty. And I have not heard of ANYONE AFKing as Killer in 2v8 to be malicious on purpose, I think people really are just that bored of waiting in Queue, they get up and by the time they are ready the game is half over because these matches last so short it's deadass not worth the 20 minute wait time.

You should never just play one side. I fully believe if you only play one side then you have absolutely no room to make any remarks on balance in this game. Sometimes I’ll complain about a survivor perk and call it “brain dead and ez mode” and then I switch to survivor and realize that that’s not actually the case and I was wrong.
Like when Huntress was getting her buffs and people said it was brutally overpowered and unbeatable and I asked how much they played the PTB buffed version of her or played against her and they said they didn’t do either and yet they made posts calling for nerfs 🤦♂️
Too many people only play one side and don’t see the other sides point of view and it’s what’s crippling this game honestly. I would slug all the time too before I started playing survivor more and realized how lame and boring it was. Now I only slug toxic survivors but even then I barely do that because it’s so boring for me too.
This.
This is ultimately the problem. Too many people not actually playing both sides equally enough to see the real, serious issues the game has and why NEITHER side is fully braindead EZ mode as so many claim. It's a self-report if you say one side is EZ mode, though I will say I think SOME perks on both sides do encourage bad playstyles and braindead play. Knockout and WoO, for example, can become crutches.
And this whole problem is exactly why I don't BM as either side, I just leave, I don't teabag. And, even though it's inefficient, I almost never slug (at least not to bleed out, for pressure is a different case and situational), I try very hard not to tunnel unless a situation calls for it and certainly not from the word go, I don't hardcore camp unless I am punishing extreme altruism, and I try my damndest to spread out hooks. I might use these to win if I have to, but I don't ever start this #### at 5 gens. I don't immediately go hardball from the start, and I certainly don't do it with malice or on purpose if it happens that I DO need to do these things. It's also why I sometimes give hatch, show mercy, etc. I don't need the Mori, I don't need to hardcore win every. Single. Game. And I sure as hell don't need to make the game miserable, as Killer OR Survivor, for anyone else. I just wish BHVR incentivized MY playstyle, too. Now, if you come in to make ME miserable, then yes. You get exactly what you give. I'm nice, that doesn't mean I won't match your energy.

I had 3 survivors in the same match try to do a pallet stand off against me.
As Nurse.
Legit sitting there for up to 10 seconds, waiting for a pallet stun.
I'm losing my mind.OK but the mental image of this is pretty funny, you have to admit.

The more chill mode attracts newer more chill less experienced players? Not surprising.
The more experienced Survs stopped playing due to boredom from it feeling too easy to win, leaving only the ones who want to chill and vibe. The Killers left have dealt with the tougher Survs already, learned the game mode better, and are pushing really hard because the mode conditioned them to SLUG TUNNEL SLUG TUNNEL GO HARD RIGHT NOW YOU HAVE NO TIME due to the quicker gen speeds, and less experienced Survs just CANNOT handle that from two Killers going hard af.I am not surprised we're seeing this happen, the same happened last time - the super intense Survs, TTVs, and hardcore SWFs all played for a bit and stomped, then Killers started to dominate when those guys left and now there are only ACTUALLY casual players left because all the ones who just wanted to win really hard or look good on Stream got bored of free wins if they even remotely try.

My point is that having literally no available counter play as a survivor just feels boring, you can get tunnelled out of the game (even with hook protection) in less than 2 minutes, furthermore I think double tapping incentivises a play style that is actually causing killers to lose.
From what I have seen killers who walk around the map together getting double taps lose because they don't get enough pressure, usually only managing to get 2-3ish kills from tunnelling, this problem may be exacerbated as more low mobility killers are added. In games where both killers exert pressure on a greater area of the map games are much closer, usually only 2ish escapes.
Furthermore if the killers are just losing, giving a survivor endurance doesn't make them immortal, they can still be downed in 3 hits it just means they have the opportunity to run and maybe make it to a loop (still unsafe if both killers are there).
Fair enough, your opinion here is valid and I see what you mean now.

to be fair, the mini-modes are not necessary meant to be balanced, they're usually there to have fun playing killer or survivor. despite the game being harder for killer, i don't dislike playing killer in the mode. i feel like most of killers besides deathslinger and maybe to some degree trapper are ok individually but the game is seemingly more fast then original mode. So the killer you play as don't have much time to be fun.
"You don't have much time to be fun."
And that's ultimately why I don't like this mode. I genuinely hate having to play as if I MUST slug, tunnel, camp, and do every trick in the book JUST to get a single kill of eight. It's not fun, and not engaging, and stresses me out. I don't understand what people SEE in this mode, tbh.
So I refuse to play 2v8 again as Killer until my Mains are added, or until they fix the turbospeed gens so me and my friend don't have to become the most Sweaty McSweatFaces alive in what is supposed to be the fun, casual arcade mode. And about that, I ask, very sincerely… casual for WHOM? Sure doesn't feel casual to me. At all.

Because it isn't worth it to wait 20 minutes for a stripped down 6 minute round of DBD that you are likely to lose if you try to play nice. Can't wait for it to go so we don't have hideous queue times across both modes.
