    Update 2:

Got into a game at 21 minutes wait time. Game lasted roughly 6 minutes. 1 kill and lots of hooks which was nice, survivors standing at exit gates making fools of themselves as per usual.

Overall, horrible experience and not worth the wait time.

    Goodnight

This is kinda why 2v8 can't be permanent and why I think it's DOA. You need double the Killers, and you can play with friends, so more people are waiting longer for the chance to do that. Meanwhile they turbobuffed Surv side AND gave incentives AND the mode is absolute easy peasy mode for Survs as long as you have at least a partial SWF, and they still cannot make Survivors queue up to play it.

Your comment doesn’t make sense. If the core gameplay features of survivor in the past (what you describe as a time when survivors were “too strong”) are unchanged, and they are in fact unchanged, then the role would still be as popular today. Unless something has changed to affect the survivor gameplay experience.

From what I have seen here you tend to post a bit more Survivor-sided takes. Nothing wrong with that, but that could explain why you aren't understanding where I am coming from. The point is the role is not popular because there is nothing new in it for Survivors to do even in 1v4, once you understand team tactics and how to loop that's about it. Meanwhile Killer almost always has something new to learn and master across over 30 different Killers. It just makes sense that part of the reason Survivor isn't as popular and always has an incentive, is because it's not as interesting after a while. The other part being, I think a lot of long term Survivor mains miss that they can't combo certain perks anymore and get strong value, or otherwise feel shafted in some way, or that Killers are too strong. I can see the first two points, but I will never understand the third one, and I PLAY Survivor. Pretty frequently, too.

I actually have 2 killers I truly enjoy.

    Freddy

    and

    Doctor

I really don´t like M2 killers, I always prefer M1 killers but well, most time you will get humiliated with them.

Can´t imagine that got better in the last 2 years. But maybe it´s just a skill issue. Pretty sure there are even Freddy and Doc mains out there who are able to wiping the floor with survs xD

If you are getting humiliated with M1s, consider different perks or consider that you may be at the wrong MMR. Allowing yourself to pull back and lose sometimes will keep you from always getting the strongest teams every time.

  • I have noticed a lot more lag lately, to be fair…

  • Please stop pinging me, I genuinely do not care. Didn't read your post either. You just want to argue.

  • Survivors are the strongest Killer in 2v8.

Are you serious? He actually has the most counterplay in the game. His speed and stealth isn't broken. It's what makes him have an ability, which on occasion leads to him getting downs. His add-ons are much the same, and are some of the best designed add-ons in the game. He's M1 at the end of the day. If you're having issues looping M1s, I don't really know what to tell you. But he does have the most counterplay, and it's simple to understand, especially if you've played as him. Survivors can literally counter everything. He uncloaks at a pallet? Drop it or call his bluff (he wants to 99% his uncloak so you drop it, so he can break it and still remain in cloak), and the moment you do call his bluff, you're in his head at all future loops. Some loops, he uncloaks at a pallet, and you can literally just go around the loop again or detach to another nearby loop. If he's not uncloaking under a pallet at a loop, 90% of the time you can just react and beat him back around to the pallet again. He goes for a body block on you? Look for when he does this, and run to a different nearby pallet/window (because he can't block everything at once). If he tries to vault or break a pallet, you can literally spam vault back and forth, which takes away his prompt, until he's forced to uncloak.

His post-uncloak speed-up/lunge used to be actually good, and now it sucks, always coming just short of hitting people when you really need him to. Because of that, survivors have control of chase, even on short loop tiles, instead of him. He used to be light burnable, but that was stupid and broken, because anyone with flashlights or flashbangs could just stun him for free, to where he'd actually have to hide from the survivors behind a wall while uncloaking. That was pathetic for a killer, hence why it got removed. His slowdown from having to uncloak is also really dang slow, to where the speed boost breaks even at best, and usually is actually worse. He pretty much needs Windstorm/Swift Hunt as auto-include add-ons.

I think complaining about killers as weak as he is shows the skill/maturity of the playerbase. Nurse, and flick Blight/Oni are killers who actually have next to no counterplay, because they just break into any angle, past any obstacles you can think of. But M1s like Wraith, Freddy, Pig, Ghost Face, Skull Merchant? How can you say there's no counterplay? You run a tile in a predetermined manner, using check spots and playing safe, and they literally can't get you. That's who you're complaining about.

To be fair if the Ghostface in question has checkspotters, and he's any smart? He uses Shroud to hide his red stain. You can't checkspot a stain you can't see.

I don't want to repeat myself but I will. Play 100 consecutive games as Wraith and record the results. The number of games you played as Wraith and against Wraith clearly isn't enough. You are simply wrong about your assumption. The 5 to 20 games you've played as Wraith are not enough. If you are playing against noobs then you can play as Trapper and never set a trap and still stomp. It's only when you build up enough MMR to go against experienced survivors that you'll start to see a killer's weaknesses. There is a reason that Wraith isn't considered a high tier killer.

Arguably, when you go against skilled enough Survs as ANY Killer, you will start to see the weaknesses of ANY Killer. This isn't just a Wraith thing.

I will also add because others are stating this: There is no such thing as "just an M1 Killer". Every Killer has a power. The power can be countered in various ways, but they still have one. Even M1 Killers. This is Wraith's, play around it and learn the counters or you die in the round. Not to be blunt, but that's how it works.

  • I'm glad there's a dedicated fanbase for this game mode. I'm just not in it.

If it becomes the permanent mode and these queues stay THIS abysmal, I will likely not have much choice than to drop DBD until queues stabilize. I do not wanna wait 20 minutes for a game. This should probably be its own separate game, not a permanent mode. I don't think ANY of the modes should be permanent. Period.

There's enough players for both modes, people just prefer to play killer in both. Being able to play with a teammate or friend is drawing solo/duo survivors away from the survivor queue on both sides while there's nothing except a BP bonus on survivor side to draw players away from killer.

This is also incidentally why the incentive is always on Survivor in 1v4. It has nothing to do with the Survivor experience being bad or "Killers being too strong". It's just that Killer is, always will be, and always has been MORE fun than Survivor period, barring one point in the far distant past when Survivors were in fact legitimately too strong.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

the games are speed-run for survivor. the killer gets like 2-3 hooks and everyone or almost everyone escapes. that is my experience with 2vs8 mode.

overall, i don't find survivor loop engaging. i like playing vs hyper strong chase killers as challenge but i think casual player just decimated in the chase. the gens are somewhat of an after thought in the mode. when you add more player to the game, the game feels like some kind of action quest adventure game of players doing random actions to complete greater goal. the goal of finish all 8? gens and powering exit gates might be too simple to the point of boredom.

in 1vs4, the simple objective works because killer engages enough with survivor that there is tension between your survival and completing the objective.

This is basically how I feel. There's no real tension as Survivor and it feels too stressful to play casually as Killer. Not sure I have ever had a win, at least at the… ONE, that's it one, Killer I like and am interested in playing in this mode.

There just is not anything here for me. I prefer 1v4.

Ah yes the class with Free Constant Aura reading for chase, rebuilding pallets for valuable loops, iron will to dodge spirit phase is for baby Survivors.

Meanwhile we got free prove thyself healing & Stackable auto 50% healing

    Selfcare & Windows crutch perk

    Prove thyself on steroids

Every single class is catered to baby / low mmr survivors.

I actually think the version of WoO basekit added for Scout here is perfect and should be how REAL WoO works. Why do you need EVERY SINGLE RESOURCE highlighted? How does that help you improve? Make WoO operate like this, so people actually have to learn and plan instead of autopiloting to Yellow.

Yesterday I was already seeing survivor lobbies start to fill up more slowly. Since Tuesday they've been instantly at 8.

The problem is the mode gets boring very quickly. As last time, it was fun for a day or two but the same killers over and over and same 4 classes over and over equals no variety or depth.

With perks you have almost infinite combinations available if you wish and you have to think way more in the normal mode. 2v8 is DBD lite. 400% bonus couldn't keep a lot of people interested last time, less this time certainly won't. I can't wait for the mode to end and really hope it isn't extended for 3 weeks again like last time so we can get back to the normal mode again with normal queue times.

    As last time

This is basically why I don't enjoy it. In retrospect 1v4 has more depth, interest, agency, control, potential, and fun for me. 2v8 is just too light and breezy for me to really feel like I'm stuck in and having any fun. Either side.

It feels pointlessly too chaotic as Killer, and too easy for me as Survivor. So I simply will never ever play it past a few days, or if there is a tome. I cannot be persuaded to enjoy it, the only thing that maybe would help me like it is if my Mains got in. But they're all licenses, so that's basically never going to happen.

No matter how many nerfs she receives, her position on fan made tier lists is basically honorary. Even if they made her so difficult to play that NO ONE can land a hit, she's being placed on tier lists solely based off potential rather even individual ability of the tierlist creator. Someone who can't get a kill with Nurse to save their lives will still place her in the same spot.

Tier lists in general also don't really mean anything. You can look at tierlists all day and notice Hag jumps all over the place. Somehow 2 separate tier lists that would place Hag as the worst killer and an A grade killer both have merit when placing Nurse?

This is why Tierlists are dumb, and make no sense for DBD - They're way way WAY too subjective and don't really tell you much of anything about how good the Killer really is, since it completely depends on the player. A really damn good Trapper who has played him for 8 years is always going to be much much better than a Baby Nurse.

Take me for example. I am a halfway decent to good Ghostface Main. I'm not in the top 10% like Esskay or anything, but I AM a good one. I win most of my matches as him. I know his kit in and out. I can even use his power in chase in ways that make people want to quit because I am that good at M1 chase. I can consistently do this on just about every map, though of course some maps are much harder. I cannot do this with Nurse. I cannot use Nurse.

Ghostface is considered a high C to low B tier, and Nurse is considered S tier. But if we ranked on my skill alone, Ghostie would be S tier and Nurse would be F tier, because I simply CANNOT use her, my mind is tuned for stealth gameplay not the highly predictive super precision gameplay Nurse has. Now, I am grateful I learned her, she helped me understand Pinhead who I also enjoy, but I cannot play her effectively and win. And most people can't.

This is, incidentally, why most people tend to play M1s with a lower skill ceiling, like my main. Because although potential is lower (and tierlists pretty much ONLY rank based on potential), it does not reflect the reality that most people win more with an easier to control and master Killer.

Killers excel at different things and different people master some things better than others. If you judge a Killer ONLY by their potential f you master them entirely, of course some will look bad. If you judge a fish's intellectual potential by whether or not it can climb a tree, it's going to spend its whole life thinking it's stupid.

  • The community for this game can be demoralizing especially to Killer players, and the stronger the Killer you choose unfortunately the nastier they are if you struggle. I say screw them. You have to play for you, not for anyone else. Keep that endgame chat closed and just try, you never know if you don't try. Start on Wraith, he teaches fundamentals very well.

I enjoy Killer and first got into it because I found a Killer I really connected with, liked, and have tons of fun with. I have always liked stealth games and Scream, so eventually gravitated to Ghostface. Two years later and many other Killers learned under my belt, I still keep coming back to Ghostface because he's just the most fun to me and the one I can do the most damage with. He taught me to love Killer side, and I love him for that. Maybe that's all you need - finding someone you truly enjoy, regardless of strength, and learning them inside and out.

It can be hard. It's really hard if you're like me and enjoy M1s, especially ones not traditionally thought of as strong. I find great joy in figuring out what little things I can do to make such weak kits stronger, I see it as a challenge to best. But then, I like hardcore games, and I admit my mindset isn't for everyone. Just keep practicing and learning from really good players of the Killers you like. That helped me. :)

You say that like it was up for debate or something….they're the ones who've allowed it. Yeah?

Why don't I what? Not play the new mode they want us to play?

That is a very slippery slope. Why should ANYONE have to put up with ANYTHING they don't like. Yeah, try balancing that out and see if it works out well for you. Spoiler, it wont'. Why not allow people to avoid certain killers? Why not?

I feel like half of you are being disingenuous on purpose. I make a thread about the ridiculous killer waits and somehow that means I want to play survivor more and get even more BP? What?

Also, regardless of what this forum says. Those of you who hate 2v8 are in the very small vocal minority.

Ask the devs? Again, disingenuous. Here I thought being on social media was the best way to do that. Do let me know of the better option. Theres a phone number I can call?

"You're in the minority if you hate 2v8", but those people still should not be forced to play a mode they don't enjoy if they want to play the game at all. It's still selfish to ask that. Would it have been fair to force people to play Lights Out if they didn't like it? Many people hated Lights Out, I bet you probably did - what if YOU had to play it or not play at all just to get a chance to enjoy the game? Suddenly not such a good idea now…

You're deflecting from my question based on me saying I do not enjoy this mode, later focusing on that instead of answering me. Why do you believe it's a good idea to do something to the game that FORCES people to play a mode they aren't enjoying? I do not want to be FORCED to play 2v8 or not play at all. I'm certain people don't want t be FORCED to play Lights Out mode or not at all, either. My choice and everyone's choice should always include 1v4, or the event/mode on offer. And BHVR, the community, an everyone else besides you here pretty much agree with me.

We're arguing in circles. Answer me or don't bother responding: Why should I only have a choice between a mode I dislike and not playing at all?

I didnt say a single word about balance. And yeah, I am not playing that gamemode more than necessary for obvious reasons. But if you think its that easy as survivor, youre just dead wrong.

For me, it is that easy: Just get some friends in comms, and there's not much Killers can do in my experience. But your experience is valid too. It's just not the experience MOST people are having. Most people agree, it's Survivor-sided. Pretty heavily so. Maybe you just get really good Killers?

Almost all, or most at least, forum users are iri both sides each month. Have completed all tomes and got most available achivments, have bought all DLCs.

    Not impressed.

Also. No. Killers force constant pressure to survivors and reducing gens from 5 to 4 per 4 survs is great move, otherwise every killer game would be won.

You don't want to believe (but I don't care) but I play mostly killer (mostly means I play both sides, especially that I don't want to wait 20min que) and not slugging, tunneling nor camping and yet most my games are between 2-4k, rarely less (I'm low MMR apparently, despite gold - iri ranks depending on how much time I have). And I think changes made for 2v8 are not enough. Survs needs something more. My ideal solution is way different of what game offer and thus what BHVR can and want to do. Yet survs needs something. Maybe more roles.

All games I was participating 2v8 was at least 4k. I haven't seen anything less than that. But to be fair - I had not enough time to play much.

I don't think most of the forum users here care about pips anymore, let alone enough to hit Iri both sides every month. Why care when you get showered in BP anyway?

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

Survivors should just lose collision when they get crows.

If they can make the Twins lose collision after 30 seconds of being dormant then they can do the same here.

To other Survivors. If you're standing there griefing to get crows to hold a match hostage, the Killer should still be able to down you. If you don't do that, you will get situations where people AFK in corners and the Killer cannot hit them, forcing the match to time out as a way to grief… particularly in endgame 2 Survivor 1 Killer standoff scenarios.

  • I agree with most of this except the double tapping thing.

That's kind of just what happens when you have two Killers. It's a feature, not a bug, and doesn't need addressing.

  • We do not need to buff Survivors more in 2v8 by letting them bring items and pick their maps. Period. The only offerings that they should consider allowing are BP ones. And if Killers can't have addons, Survivors should not get to start with items.

Some people didn't like different events for the pettiest of reasons. It seems odd to me to give those people an option to split up the player base. I don't believe any of those people would've actually quit playing.

So you think since 2016 every event should've had an opt out option? Even though 90% of them impacted the actual game in the tinnniieesst of ways? Modifiers are different. The Halloween event had an opt out even though the actual game is basically exactly the same.

Should there be an option to avoid all players doing rift challenges too? That can also bother some people having to play with people only going for their challenges.

The Devs clearly agree that it is a good idea to let people who do not want to engage with events or modes have a space to do that. They and most players agree that nobody should feel FORCED to play an event or mode, or otherwise not play the game, if they do not want to. They believe it is unfair to ask players to be forced to engage with things they have no interest in just to play the game, and most people here seem to agree with them.

Why don't you? Why do you want the game to FORCE people to play in a way they do not enjoy, just so you can have more BP? Why not just ask the Devs to bump the incentive and call it a day?

If that isn't what you are asking for, why make a thread that implies that is exactly what you're asking for? If it IS what you're asking for… why do you believe people should be forced to do something they don't want to do in a game?

This may come to a shock you but some ppl don't like 2v8. Im a killer main and I HATE 2v8 bc I dont like any the killers in it, I dont like having to play with a random player, I don't like the wait time, and over all, I find the mode boring as hell. I been playing it as Survivor even just to do the challenges and I find the mode so ######### boring. I take normal 1v4 any day of the week over 2v8.

So Im happy they don't replay 1v4 with 2v8, the issue tho is that 2v8 still affects 1v4 making killer queues painful wait over there as well. Honestly, if it was up to me, I would scrape the whole 2v8 idea and think up other modes that could be fun for both sides.

This is me. I'm a Ghostface Main. He's not in 2v8. In fact, of the ten or so Killers I do actively like playing frequently only ONE is in 2v8 and it's Wraith. And I pretty rarely play Wraith because I find him boring compared to everyone else I DO play.

I do not know, know how to play, or enjoy even half the options in 2v8. I don't want to play Slinger. Blight and Nurse make me nauseous. I barely play Trapper seriously and don't consider him part of my roster. I wanna learn Spirit but not in such a noise-heavy mode. I suck at Huntress and do not enjoy her. Billy is hard for me to control on my console controller (I play on PC but use controller for comfort reasons). Wraith is basically my only real option and I get SICK of playing him all. The. Time. He's glitched right now anyway, his uncloak is bugged in a way that is stealing parts of his lunge-hit uncloak speed and when he does get it, his lunge is the incorrect boost.

The wait time, the gens going so fast I barely have time to breathe, only one Killer I enjoy playing in the mode or even want to play or know how to play, and all that on top of the fact that Surv side is still boring as sin and now, is too easy on top of it all. Why would I, someone who likes and mains Licensed Killers primarily and plays Killer mostly for the sheer joy of getting to be Pig or Ghostface or Myers or Freddy or Pyramid Head or Pinhead or Wesker or Nemesis or Sadako, wanna play this mode again? There's legitimately nothing in it for me.

    Obviously.

I think splitting the player base and allowing people to play normal mode during events is stupid.

However, 2v8 is the only exception to that I think. With that being said I still think it's weird to want to play normal mode over the event while it's active.

Some people do not like the Modes. This was true of Lights Out. And Chaos Shuffle. And every event. It is equally true of 2v8, why is it weird someone may not want to play a mode they aren't interested in? They are also allowed to have a game in 1v4…

I am genuine here, I don't get where you are coming from. What's so weird about the idea that a mode may not be everyone's cup of tea? :/

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

I know it's inevitable, but the last thing we need is for people to start trying to "optimize" strats to win in 2v8. Taking 1v4 seriously is silly, taking this mode seriously is absurd.

It's total chaos, and that is what makes it fun. Like some killer teams stick together all match and try to "combo" survs, which isn't effective at all when it comes to "winning" the game, but I bet it's fun as hell for a while. And I think that sort of thing is the intent here.

And as totally grab bag as the matchmaking is, getting all competitive in 2v8 just seems like an exercise in total futility.

Now it sucks that killers have to wait forever to get into one of these goofy-ass matches, and I hope they find some way to fix that, but if you're sweating in these matches you're doing it wrong.

The problem is it's very easy to sweat in this mode. Both sides. :( It's already ruined for me because of that.

  • I actually agree, had more fun the first time both sides.

  • Calling people who don't want to play a mode they don't like "lovely people" in a sarcastic tone because you're mad you don't get more BP in the mode you prefer is… a take.

    There isn't a point when you have a 20-minute queue for a 6-minute match.

I've beaten killers who try to slug everyone quite comfortably.

Ultimately you still need to catch survivors to down them, and if they're going down fast in chase, the you'd be just as hard winning if you hooked. The weak players would get knocked out fast and once you have a couple of survivors dead 2vs8 starts to really turn the killers direction. Survivors putting up resistance however will cramp your ability to slug everyone pretty hard.

If you are coming at me with both killer's, your pressure sucks, and I'm running to comp corner, and I'm still gonna make it hurt to slug. We eventually started to outpace their slugging and it's always quite the amusing moment they realised it wasn't gonna work and started trying to hook people too little too late.

So sure you can go ahead and slug, it's not a bad strategy, took me and my fellow soloQ survivors a few minutes to adjust. Of course survivors with a spine is becoming rarer and rarer in this modern "I quit because boo hoo killer is a threat" attitude they have now, so that may help your slug strategy...

However it ain't a free win, and all I can say is:

    https://c.tenor.com/RaNSPyq9JnIAAAAd/tenor.gif

The thing is, if you decide to make yourself a nuisance, the Killers may decide "screw the game, #### that Surv in particular" and you will STILL be slugged out, tunnelled out, and have a bad experience.

    How do I know this?

Tried it. Had a bad experience. Killers told me they outright didn't care, they just hated me for being THIS SWEATY in the casual mode.

That's how it feels to play M1 killers, exhausting and unenjoyable even if you win.

Also, whether it's on a hook or on the ground, you're sitting out either way. Are you not?

What's truly confusing is that you get angry about having freedom of movement and more than 3 chances to play if you're "slugged."

If this is your experience with M1s, maybe it's not M1s that suck, but the fact you just… don't enjoy M1s? I feel this way, unironically, about M2s - I hate that now I have TWO miss cooldowns, and I have people who just Hold W more instead of actually try to engage me around loops. How do you M2 Mains LIVE like this?

Pallets are greater in number and rebuildable in this mode, and loops are more chainable than ever because there's more in this mode.

Your argument here does not compute.

  • Make the mode wait better by ruining the fun for the side I don't play! Genius!

What exactly do you want them to do though?

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more people want to do the 2 killers over the 8 survivors. Short of making survivors stupidly overpowered to make playing killer less appealing, I don't know what else they could do to fix the issue.

Problem is in doing this, they made the game unfun for more casual Killer players like me. I just do not wanna wait 20 minutes so me and my friend can be genrushed in 8 minutes and get no Kills because the mode is THIS Survivor sided. It's also information overload, my poor ADHD/Autistic brain cannot HANDLE this. It's not fun for someone like me at all. :(

This is, incidentally, also why we can't have a 50/50 kill to escape rate in the main mode. Because it would feel like this. Bad.

It's not supposed to be balanced but chaotic and fun instead, otherwise killer queue would skyrocket even more.

The problem is they decided to make it "chaotic and fun" by making it feel like easy mode for Survivors, and making Killer feel bad compared to the balanced 1v4.

Anyone calling this mode "Killer-sided" truly doesn't play Killer at all, or only plays the strongest ones every time. Most people are in agreement it's more Survivor-sided, and deeply unbalanced. Whether or not you find it "fun" is pretty subjective; it's still boring as Surv in my opinion. They were closer to the mark in the first iteration; go back to that and stop actively making the mode worse for one side in some misguided attempt to make it more appealing for the other. I don't play Survivor to stomp all over Killers, I play Survivor to feel like I need to try and survive with my friends.

You are policing though. In your mind, escaping is the only thing that matters and if anyone feels or plays differently, they are wrong. 2v8 isn’t ranked or competitive, no one is obligated to sweat every game because you say so. You can’t MAKE people feel the way you feel, which is kinda what you’re trying to do with this thread. I have fun winning, I also have fun racking up points and plays. If you only have fun when you win, are you really having fun? And if not, can you stop sucking the fun out of it for the rest of us?

Arguably, 1v4 isn't competitive either, everyone just decided to make it be competitive because it's technically ranked… for as much as grades matter in terms of rank. And they don't. They're not even ranks.

So really, 1v4 isn't competitive or ranked, either. The entire community just BADLY wants it to be for some weird reason. :P

If being able to get points and pip in other ways besides gens and chases is viable - and it is, BHVR made sure it is - then that would seem to indicate we're all taking this game much, much too seriously and need to calm our entire asses down about needing to win. Both sides. BHVR can further fix this by making losing sting much less when it does happen. If they truly care about making the game feel casual and fun, let's see them implement stuff like easier pips and changing the defeat sound for one, and by making Killer success oriented on number of hooks for another.

  • Yeah because it's totally fair to me, using a Wifi connection to play, to be paired with people abusing VPNs and from other countries to mess with their ping. Totally fair! /s

Its common sense, that last time it was totally killersided. Its still killersided by now cause there is no coordination with 7 other players. You cant pretend that its survivorsided just when you have a full communication team. The mode is just extremely annoying for survivors cause its just a big clusterfuck and you often get tagteamed, which both is entirely impossible to solve.

That's not how balance works. "Last time it was sided to one side, so this time we will make it sided to another side."

If you hate it that much, then don't play it. I find it terminally a bore and much too easy as Survivor if I SWF, and an extended and enhanced version of being stuck with a bunch of non-hook-save potatoes who won't do gens as SoloQ. I also find it boring as Killer because of 30 minute queues, not having ANY of my Mains in the mode, and games lasting 8 minutes because all me and my friend ever get are good Survs that do gens before we can ever get a single Kill (we prefer to be nice and spread hooks, which powers Survivors up and means we lose, we just frankly lose every round).

It's not fun, I am not having fun, so I am not playing it. I suggest if you're also not having fun, instead of complaining the Survivor easy mode is too hard for you, you simply don't play.

    Not everyone is playing casual

This is the problem with 1v4 and it spills over into 2v8 as well. There are casual players who don't care about winning and the more serious players who do care about efficiency and winning. Two separate queues for each type of playstyle would never work, so it stays as it is and the two groups are mixed together so neither is happy.

Looping, getting gens done, and escaping gives more BP than doing pointless side objectives and then dying.

Looping only gives points if you're good at it; if you're not good at looping, or if the killers tag team you, you get very few points for chase. Gens don't give many points unless you're doing co-op (anecdotally, when my friend was playing 2v8, every time he tried to co-op the other teammate ditched the gen). Escaping is the big rewarder of points, but it requires escaping. Many players assume they won't escape. Chests don't reward that many Bloodpoints, but bones do reward a good amount of Bloodpoints.

If you think you're going to die no matter what you do, bones and altruism are the point earners.

All this. There's more to having fun in this game than mobility, map pressure, and looping in order to win EVERY ROUND all the time forever. Winning is not the only way to have fun and get results in DBD. And the Devs have pretty much done all they can to ensure that aside from literally outright tell the playerbase this is so.

This game is casual, but the players keep wanting it to be competitive, so the Devs have to balance around that, meaning nobody is really happy and you get posts like this one.

This mode was hilariously killersided in the first iteration. And it didnt changed much at all, otherwise killer queues wouldnt be 30 minutes.

If you struggled that hard in 2v8 last time, IDK what to tell you, because my games were pretty even both sides last time if a bit harder and quicker because Survs had more tools. And now, it's hilariously Survivor-sided if you have even remotely some teammates with you and some coordination.

The mode is 30 minutes for Killer because you can play with a friend. No other mode has that. That doesn't mean the experience is any better.

  • The Mori isn't the issue, slugging or tunneling for it is. Fix the real issue.

  • Absolutely not. I want to play the 1v4 version without queues being utterly destroyed, plus it's boring because it's just stripped down soulless DBD at the end of the day. I hope this never ever becomes a permanent mode and stays a limited mode. It genuinely would kill the game.

    Hey!

Thanks for taking the time to write up your thoughts, I hope everyone's been enjoying 2V8 V2! There's some really interesting ideas in here and I'll make sure this feedback gets back to the team ❤️

The biggest issue is that Guide is too strong, the catch-up mechanic favors Survs not being hooked, and there's still not enough for Survivors to do so Killer queues are long because everyone is there.

  • @tjt85 said:

I don't know how your games have been going, but in my experience 2 Vs 8 is a total sweatfest. Worse even than the main game.

I did enjoy the first iteration a lot more than this second one, but to be honest I've come to the conclusion that this game mode is a bit of a failed experiment. They don't seem to have found a way to bring the Killer queue times down or to make the games feel anything other than completely one sided. Aside from playing a few Killer games as Legion, I'm not really looking forward to playing future versions of 2 Vs 8. I have a feeling I'm in a minority though and that's fine.

Chaos Shuffle is still the best time limited game mode they've ever done, imho.

I'm with you and in think our minority is getting bigger than we think, I'm seeing a lot of frustration with the mode here, Reddit, even on Steam. I agree this is nice, but a failed experiment they should have rarely and certainly not all the time. It's clearly not ready yet and came back much too soon.

  • Medic is slightly too strong. Guide is completely overtuned.

And make the catch-up mechanic apply to Survivor deaths, not hooks. It never should have been hooks.

  • If survivors get extra Gen stuff they really do not need on top of taking less charges AND a catch-up mechanic that favors forcing the Killer to hook you? Then yes. Killers need Gen control basekit in 2v8 or HUGE basekit speed buffs to movement. It's unfair otherwise.

  • This mode was Survivor Sided but fair in the first iteration. It's currently even more Survivor sided in this iteration. Killers got nerfed basekit info, must pick up, and now have to worry about classes. Many of the buffs got reduced from the last version too. If you hook you power up Survivors and reward them with an extra skill AND faster gens if you do it too much, so hooking is punished.

Meanwhile the catch-up mechanic can be negated for Killers by just running Guide no matter how hard they pressure gens.

The tag teaming by killers with buffed powers is why survs aren't flocking to the mode to begin with. Chase is 80% the fun of dbd as survivor and you have no agency vs 2 killers. Killers and survs can both win if they want to but the way to win isn't fun for either side. Killers avoid stacking up on their buddy too much while defending gens & survivors afk hold m1 to heal/repair all game.

Then that means the mode is DOA and needs to be scrapped if one whole side is still not having fun even with all the buffs they got this time.
