This is a hot take, considering I played three matches in a row, and out of 24 survivors, only two of us made it out, me in one match, and a Laura in another.
I definitely afree that gen regression shouldn't keep getting nerfed, but 2v8 is so much more tolerable as a survivor now. It use to be that 4 of us would be sac'd already and there'd still be 6 gens to get done. At least now we can power the gd gates.
To be fair, I haven't done killer in 2v8. But when they get the Unknown in there, I'll have my Funknown. Or Artist, or Plague, or Drackels or Michael
The problem is that the way they made it more tolerable is by making Survivors too strong.

I just realized something as well. I thought survivors just always had their 3rd skill, but since it's unlocked after first stage by not tunneling you're empowering the survs meanwhile if you do tunnel they don't really get any much value over a match.
This is exactly what I am seeing, Killers tunnelling out a few people. My friends and I both got it more often, it's not good. They really messed up this event by making Survivors get more powerful over a match and making them generally stronger overall. Survivors are overbuffed. And there's nothing to fix the gen speeds; it's really unfun to wait 20 minutes to get stomped.
I will try one more day, but I'm not having fun as Killer and I'm not having the greatest time as Surv either. If it doesn't improve I'm doing the tome and then saying goodbye to this mode. -
First iteration was better in every way. The only thing they should keep is picking up instead of stomping and adding more Killers and maps. The rest can genuinely go.
They Buffed Survivor a bit too much and they will need to adjust it for next mode. Guide especially needs a nerf, it counters the entire point of the catchup mechanic.I don't think Killer classes were the way to go at all. If they keep them, they have GOT to add an extra Killer power to all Classes that helps defend gens, it's too much. And they need to remove that ridiculous nerf to basekit genspread info, Reveal, etc. The lack of information is stifling.
Some Killers are too weak in this mode and need to be buffed. There's also still not enough Killer variety to be engaging.
BHVR did fix queue times, by making it less fun for Killer and more fun for Survivor. You should not balance it this way.

Survivor comeback mechanic is very goofy it should be based on deaths instead of hook states and guide basically nullifies killer gen debuff
This. This is the problem.
Killers need a stronger comeback mechanic than this, it needs to be a bigger debuff or there has to be a gen control power aded to the Classes. It's extremely unfun to wait for 20 minutes to get destroyed because the gens fly super fast even with the debuffs, it's just not enough time and Killers are PLAYING like it. You HAVE to be a fast Killer and ideally, not M1 or you get destroyed. Guide has GOT to be nerfed, badly, this is way too much. Or, we need a Killer class that holds gens. Killers are genuinely not fast enough to get anything done with things like this and it's not any fun.
This? This is why it can't be a 50/50 even split, for anyone wondering, on kill versus survival rate - because as shown here, it's not fair to Killers period against Survivors who even remotely know how to coordinate. BHVR has GOT to stop giving Survivors gen repair that outclasses anything Killers can DO - both in 1v4 and 2v8. I really do not understand their obsession with letting Survivors be able to pump gens however fast they want but Killers aren't allowed to hold them down just because a FEW Killers could hold obnoxious 3gens at one point in time a year ago.BHVR, this iteration of 2v8 sucks. You overbuffed Survivors too much. Go back to the drawing board, it was too early to do this again and this is not it, the first version was more fun.
-
It's okay but still not interesting enough for my taste. It's also maybe too easy as Survivor, especially if you are coordinated. I really feel like Survivors got the better stuff and after a while I lose interest in my tenth win in a row.
The Killer side feels bad if you're anyone who isn't speedy. I feel like in this iteration only SOME combos are viable. Unfortunately, I am wholly uninterested in all the Killers that feel the most viable. I don't think I have had a single match as Killer (as Wraith) where I didn't just end up waiting 20 minutes to have all the gens pop and get an 8 man out. Admittedly I played two rounds at a more sweaty time, so maybe it's just me or the game, but so far? I'm having less fun this time as Killer. As in, I genuinely do not want to play any Killer in this mode, why wait in a 20 minute Queue to get slapped around and teabagged in the endgate after 8 minutes? The BP bonus isn't THAT good, Killers don't even GET one.

@CountOfTheFog said:
My matches have all been lopsided one way or the other. Either the Killers start downing instantly and everyone is dead very early, or the generators fly and the killers are lucky to get one or two kills.
Same, I feel like the next iteration, they're gonna need to nerf Guide or possibly buff gen control for Killer. It still feels like games swing one way or the other too much.
I wonder if this means the catchup mechanic is a failure? Or maybe it needs adjusting. It seems really weird they gave us a class that does 8% repairs AND STACKS but only a 5% decrease catchup mechanic. Surely it should be more than that? Or maybe we need more than 8 gens?
-
I'm playing with my SWF as Alucard, and we get Dracula. Already based. Now, I run a Dhampyr inspired build: Strength in Shadows, Lithe, Potential Energy, and Still Sight. I wanted to have superpowers because half-Vampire. I do not run anything else on Alucard. I do not run items on Alucard. I just wanna be a cool af Dhampyr.
So we're playing on Ormond, the Dracula is okay but we're more coordinated. I have 20 stacks of PE and middle gen isn't done, Drac is defending it aggressively as Wolf Form. So go to my SWF as we're in comms, I say, "Hey, If I get in there I think I can Potential Energy that gen and finish it." They don't believe me.
However, I am a stealthy sort, I am good at keeping unseen. Yes, even as Alucard. I am a Nea Main and Alucard's one of my secondaries; I play Nea as stealth-altruist, this is just how I play DBD. So, I sneak in somehow behind Drac's back, and he notices too late. He turns, stops mid chase, and goes to pounce me… and that's exactly when I shove all 20 charges on the gen and finish it right in front of him (sorry Drac, I know how rough that feels).
My one friend goes, "SidneysBane1996 you're insane." And I go "I know." And he says, "No I don't mean that you're good at the game, I mean you're LITERALLY insane."Dracula tunnelled me for it and I only barely got out as a 3 man.
-
I don't think the pickup should have been this long either, why not basekit Fire Up? The inherent issue is that wasting more Killer time in this mode creates a situation where, as long as there are a bunch of Guides, gens will still go fast and the catchup mechanic isn't enough to compensate, at all. four people with an 8% progress to everyone stacks TOO HARD to counter the 5% basekit catchup.
Make it 10 gens to complete, make it so you may only have two of a single class per group, or nerf the hell out of Guide. It's the only way to make this fair.

i don't think generator buff is that good. it's 8% for 10 seconds. it will likely be least played class. i think you might just see 4 medic+4 escapist every match. what i was looking to read is what the cooldown of ultimate ability is.
Gens are already flying because people discovered the four Gen class thing. It's definitely too much and they should scale it based on how many people have the class, or limit it to TWO PER EIGHT PEOPLE ONLY like we asked for last time.
-
Yeah called it.
Everyone will just play the gen class.
-
They probably nerfed it for being too strong. I'm not surprised.
-
The mode was Survivor sided before this. They made it more so. Like why would a smart Surv pick anything OTHER than the Gen class?
STOP. BUFFING. GEN. REPAIR. AND ALSO. NERFING. GEN. REGRESSION.

If the gen speeds are connected to cage states instead of survivors eliminated, then it encourages killers to really try their hardest to tunnel survivors instead of spreading cage states.
For example, 9 cage states could mean that 3 survivors have been knocked out of the game, or it could mean 0 survivors have been knocked out of the game… but the killers get equal gen speed punishment for both these scenarios. It's incredibly hard to tunnel in 2v8 and win. You won't get many Survs that way.
-
Killers are also allowed to 4k the same way Survs are allowed to 4 man out.
-
They also decided we could have a catchup mechanic for gens… but then a class that BUFFS GEN REPAIR MORE THAN THE CATCHUP REDUCES IT.
I do not think this is necessary. Make it 6%.
-
But what does any of this prove? Nightlight is based on user-related stats, not on hard data of all rounds across all MMR ranges, which is what BHVR uses.
Hard data says all those Killers except Demo have a closer to 60% Killrate. Somewhere between 58-62%. They're fine. And Demo is getting a buff.Don't cherrypick based on user generated data.
-
ghostface overall is too punished for average killer player to pick up. Imagine new players buying licensed killer like ghostface and than getting demolished. that stats seem suggest that almost every single player that plays ghostface gets demolished except for very specialized killer players.
That's very true @Devil_hit11 but maybe more buffs could change that. However it's not true he's an uncommon pick, he's one of the top ten picks in the game last we saw stats isn't he? He's popular even before these changes. But yes, for most players who don't MAIN him he's very difficult to with, someone who plays him more casually may find that his skill floor is more like a wall they bounce off of. For that alone he needs more love. He's a specialty Killer that isn't for everyone, kinda like how Plague isn't for everyone or HUX isn't for everyone.

There is no such thing as F tier, LMAO. There is only S through D, and with the buffings Myers and Freddy will get pretty soon ONLY Trapper will be an actual D tier.
Ghostface is a High C to a Low B, played correctly. He does need buffs, but he's not as weak as you think.
Pig is a high C tier. She could stand buffs, but she's not as weak as you think either.
Trickster is around a Mid C to at best, low B. He's fine too. I'd argue he's a bit stronger than Ghostface. He could use a passover to make him more fun for both sides, but he's not as weak as you think.
Antiloop, map mobility, and M2 hits are not everything, my guy, and just because a KIller makes you work harder to make the most of their kit against good players doesn't make them weak. Also, B tier is balanced, far from weak. Not EVERYONE needs to be A or S to succeed, I'd actually prefer it if more Killers were designed and buffed to stay within the A-C range, no higher or lower. No Killer is "too weak to be viable", all Killers can 4k. I actually pull 4ks as Ghostie pretty regularly to the point I have to be careful to not skyrocket my MMR to the point he actually IS too weak to do anything for my personal skill level. That's not "he's too weak", that's "Survivors that know your counterplay and have more skill than you at the game."
Learn to play the Killers you think are "too weak" properly before you call anyone "F tier".
-
I usually don't get these guys, and when I do I just ignore them. They often just leave or they get curious, come closer, and damn themselves to a quick death.
-
You're never too old to play games, adult animals also still play. It's normal to want to play sometimes.
You did nothing wrong, this dude is just an ageist a-hole, and probably Gen Z or Gen Alpha - an ACTUAL KID - if they think 30 is old. I'm personally 33 and I have zero kids, also you're not really "old" IMHO until you hit like 50 years old. In any case that doesn't mean games aren't for anyone over 50, gaming is for everyone. There's actually evidence that videogaming can help preserve reflexes and prevent cognitive decline in older people, because it keeps you always engaging your hands and your brain. Ignore this person or report to BHVR and move on.

Yeah I've found it's always been a little annoying but absolutely ever since certain releases the Unknown being a big one in this for sure it just breaks or seems to get worse. So it is fixable & I would like it to be. I played Ghostie after I posted this & couldn't believe the marks I was pulling off myself actually. It's a gripe only to Ghostfaces's mechanic not the players or any of his stats as it were. Maybe/hopefully we'll see it addressed properly at some point.
I'm getting the opposite, I keep being revealed from angles I KNOW I shouldn't be. It goes back and forth on that, it was broken this way on HUX's release, then they tweaked him and it got fixed. Unknown came out and suddenly I wasn't getting revealed at all, then they tweaked both and it broke, they tweaked it again he got better and they did it AGAIN and now he's broken again.

Imagine walking in to a Halloween store to buy a costume and the clerk is really Michael Myers and not some employee in a mask?
😂😅😐😥🫣😰😱
Bruh imagine shopping at Myers' Halloween store.
"Dang is where is the fake blood, I can't find it anywhere, this shop sucks." You turn to leave muttering, "Guess I'll go to Spirit Hallow-"And here's Michael standing five inches behind you with a gallon of fake blood in his hands, breathing heavily, and you just about lose five years off your life from the jumpscare.
"HOLY #### where did you come from?!"
"…………"
"… Oh. That's where it was. Thanks." -
You aren't mad at the Mori, you're mad you lost out on a chance for final BP. To fix all the issues Survs have all they need to do is make them gain BP at 400% to the Killer's 100%, basekit, so that every round even lost ones feel worthwhile
-
I'd like more charm space on hooks too, so many cool charms and I can have only three? :(
-
I think it would be appropriate to make this change now that we have a perk that alters who has what number of hookstages. I am really tired of making good tactical plays or being more than fair and not tunnelling at all, and still being accused of tunnelling. Like my guy I am trying NOT to, I have ADHD and I can't always remember who I hooked last very well… 😭
-
Agreed. Can we pretty please have more loadout slots too?
-
The only change Franklin's needs is it doesn't make you lose your item at the end of the round; it's fine as is.
-
I love this concept and love the buffs to Myers. But I don't think this is the change Ghostface needs, I think he needs more. I also thik there are other issues with Demo to address, but mostly related to shred hitboxes.

If they could, why wouldnt they have fixed it long time ago? Cause frustration is so much fun for players?
Probably because it's a complex system, I suggest looking up how it works on the DBD wiki, the write up there is very good. TL;DR - it's based on how many pixels of him are on screen, if there is line of sight, and how distant he is.
The real issue isn't reveal existing. The real issue is that it's too sensitive. On both sides the sensitivity needs reducing. It should work if the Killer is right in front of you very close, and no other time. This could easily work by having it be a cone focused on the Survivor's head (not the camera), as well as based on how many pixels of Ghostie are on screen. It's currently a vague oval centered on the camera, which allows seeing more than the person should and ends up with the "revealed through walls" effect.
-
@DeBecker said:
They cant.
I want a source on this and why they can't, because frankly that's BS. How do I know?
Am a Ghostface Main, have been for several years now. And every single time they adjust HUX or Unknown, the Reveal and Stalk mechanics break somewhat. Every time, since these two Killers were added. Because they use some of his mechanics. To make all three more consistent, the mechanic needs to change, or at least they can fix it by making Reveal less punishing, take longer, etc. They absolutely CAN fix it. They just don't seem to want to now.
-
Events and modes use MMR to matchmake, but you do not gain or lose any. If your rounds were bad your overall MMR was off.
-
I feel like the Halloween event was a lot sweatier than normal from both sides, yes. After a fashion people realized the Void isn't that worth it for either side and just wasted time, and that since the other side was playing to win all the time they had to play to win, too or they wouldn't get much of anything out of the event. If BHVR wants events like these to be more than a sweatfest, they need to make interaction with the mechanics mandatory the way they do for modes - see Lights Out, 2v8, Chaos Shuffle, etc. All the changes for those modes are unavoidable, match-altering, and affect every player equally. Stuff that's a fun sidequest like the Void or Blood Zones in Blood Moon just do not do that.
Twisted Masquerade altered the trial as it went on with Tryks tricks. Haunted by Daylight didn't do stuff like that enough and in past events like older versions of some events, Blood Moon, and Scorching Summer BBQ, there were not enough new or game altering mechanics that did anything to force people to interact with it and slow the game down for both sides to breathe a little. It did the exact opposite actually.
-
Stop self-ending on hook and DCing when you go down first, and people would stop doing this. The Killer cannot "tunnel" you if it's the first chase, the Killer doesn't magically know who to target first chase, they need to learn as the round develops and react to it.
Honestly this whole post feels like whining because you're mad you got outplayed by a Killer. The Penalties are there to punish people EXACTLY like you. Stop handicapping your team because you're mad you got caught, not only does that make the Killer hate you, it makes your teammates hate you because you ruined the round for all four of them.
-
Ghostface will sell you any information on ANYONE… for the right price. That being information about yourself or a favor.
That or he has a photography shop or newspaper stand.
-
His power is Cloaking and being a bit quicker. It's not that strong.
He has no real antiloop. He has ok map mobility. He has not the greatest stealth. He can't Hinder, Expose, or do much else. He's incredibly mid.
The Wraith's power is simply not an issue. He's a simple Killer with good return on investment until you find anyone who knows how to loop half decent, which is the same problem all M1s face. He's a B tier and a lower B tier at that. He doesn't need a nerf.
-
Anonymous mode exists to combat exactly what you're asking for. I don't think we want people targeted as Killer the same way Survs can be just because they have TTV in their name.
-
If we're going to have perks that manipulate hookstages, then yes - the Killer should see hookstages, even if it's only while they are hooking. It's just QoL at this point. There is SO MUCH Killers need to keep track of: how to use the power and when, map knowledge, what perks FOUR DIFFERENT PEOPLE may have, how long they have, hookstages, should I slug here or tunnel here or not, should I brute force this - and they cannot offload any of that onto teammates.
Regardless of the info you get, this wouldn't make tunnelling any more appealing. We all thought that giving Survivors the Sabo buff would make that more appealing too but no, most people just use toolboxes on gens. Most Killers don't actually tunnel that hard on purpose, so hookstages being shown wouldn't be an issue either. I don't need hookstages counted when I tunnel, I need hookstages counted when I am NOT tunnelling especially when there are four of the same friggin' Surv in the same cosmetic.
Besides, it's an accessibility issue. Some people like me have ADHD and forget who they hooked last easily. Some people have issues with split second memory. Some people like me have Autism and get overwhelmed and overstimulated by a lack of info, or don't process some kinds of information the same as a neurotypical person does. A tool like hookstages giving visual feedback is helpful for these people.
-
There are, frankly, FAR too many generator perks that tip the game in either sides' favor and they are ALL far too strong.
But this is not evidence of much except for a cheating group. I don't think this gen speed can be or is legit.

Myers is a special case where people don’t really care about him being weak. They find him fun regardless because people feel like they are playing the actual character. Any buff he gets are just a plus.
i feel like Ghostface, Pig, and maybe the new Killer are this way. Fun is important, the Killer doesn't always need to be strong as you point out here.
-
Actual lore accurate Myers that means I don't have to be up in their butts to get value from 99ing someone. I can play him like Ghostface, hang back, stalk, and finalize coming in for the kill just like he does in the films. And his power limit is effectively gone, he tiers up more, gets his power more. All he needs now are some addons improved, fixing Tier I, and making him not lose stalk at all but these are good compromises I will happily trade out tombstone items for. I hardly even use those.
BHVR ate.
