Cote mentioned that some license holders were actually really excited for their characters to be added to 2v8.

Now that I think about it, if Ghostface ever gets added to 2v8 the game should allow both killers to play him.
That's one of the only things that will ever remotely bring me back to this otherwise dull mode.

Using alt accounts is against forum rules and hope whoever is spamming the forums this weekend gets the banhammer on Monday. This is just going to keep happening though as long as brand new accounts are allowed to create threads and spam post all they want while forums remain unmoderated on weekends/holidays.
While they're at it can they also ban the unfortunate flood of racism on the forums lately?

This appears to be related to other mechanics being buggy lately like Staredown/Reveal, stalking, flashbangs, smoke grenades from Haunted by Daylight, Singu's biopod lock-on, and possibly aiming the Xeno Tail/Slinger's gun. I think something may be fundamentally bugged with the code that judges all of these.
-
This has been a bug for a while now, probably for the past couple months. It's also affecting the hitboxes on flashbangs (they can still for some ungodly reason be dropped inside the Killer's hitbox on pickup), might be related to glitches with Revealing Ghostface (and stalking as him) and Staring Down Unknown, and may be similar to some of the troubles that flashbangs and Smoke Grenades in Haunted by Daylight were causing.
The angle of visualization code for some mechanics, particularly Reveals, Stare-Downs and Blinds, and possibly even affecting stuff like Singularity's biopod cameras and MAYBE shooting through gaps as Slinger/Xeno, appears to have been bugged for several months (since at least Lara Croft if not before), and the Devs have still not fixed the issue. Can any other Ghostface Mains, Singu Mains, Unknown Mains, Flashlight/Flashbang enjoyers, etc. confirm? Are there any other glitches with angles happening for you guys?
-
I noticed several bugs with the cameras and uncaging in 2v8 myself, so add "heinously bugged" to the list of reasons to STRONGLY reconsider bringing this mode back too soon for a third time.
-
And the extreme amounts of generator progression speed run the Killer experience in 2v8 if Survivors even remotely SWF up and try. Your point?
-
2v8, while being a boring experience after a while, does bring up some good ideas.
This icon and effect is one of them.
-
I'm also okay if it never comes back or instead becomes its own game, for me this mode definitely ran its course. IMHO it should never be longer than one week and it certainly should not come back frequently. It's a dulled down dumbed down DBD experience, where one side turbo-stomps to the exclusion of the fun of everyone else, and it unfairly impacts the queue times.
I tried both versions. I had fun for max about four days each time. I will be sitting future ones out, the mode has LOST me. None of my Killer Mains or even Killers I LIKE will ever be in it, and Survivor is even more lifeless and boring than in regular ol' 1v4 despite the fact they have all these extra things they can do now. It lacks the hardmode/perkless nature of Lights Out (a lesser mode to most), it feels less chaotically fun than Chaos Shuffle (also popular and I'd argue MORE popular than this mode overall), and it's not as interesting as the event modes have been. The ONLY things, the two things, that will bring me back to 2v8 to give it another chance is if they a) add Killers I actually care about in it, b) stop making it easy mode if you simply turbosweat in the party mode (either side). But that would require true balance, something nobody actually wants in the party mode.
I really think it's only going to stay because BHVR and the mode's fans are super stubborn about how "we can fix it" like it's a problematic lover. Open your eyes, it CAN'T be fixed and it most certainly will never be permanent, and if it becomes permanent the queues will be so shot both sides, it would be as if BHVR slit its own throat, killing its own game, because the majority of people will not stand for 20+ minute 2v8 Killer queues AND 10+ minute 1v4 queues on both sides. That is the future we're looking at if 2v8 goes permanent. It simply cannot be, and if you want it to be permanent you're incredibly selfish to everyone else who wants to play games with reasonable queue times if you ask me. If any mode goes permanent, it should be Chaos Shuffle. NOT this one, dear God PLEASE not this one. And that sentiment, that this mode isn't all that great and the novelty rapidly wears off, is a quickly growing one. The Devs can't ignore it forever. The mode should be infrequent and last MAXIMUM one week or over an extended weekend (similar to Lights Out), be its own game, or not come back at all. Soulless DBD just is not DBD and you are never gonna ever make the Survivor side more fun when Killer with a Friend is obviously the only reason this mode exists in the first place. Keep telling yourselves that it will get better even as they continue to make Survivor even more heinously overpowered in a vain effort to make the mode less fun for Killers so more people will play Surv side despite it being a snoozefest, all while trying to balance 30+ Killers in this mode with even more heinously overpowered kits for them too so that only the most super busted combos like Billy + Blight dominate.
If you enjoy this mode over 1v4, you do not enjoy DBD. You enjoy winning DBD with overpowered kits and not having to think or strategize for yourself. You enjoy a stripped down dim experience where your side could easily with a little effort hold all the cards. You enjoy slapping around newbies to either role in a game mode where you don't have to try, and it's probably time for you to find another game.

Reposting under multiple accounts isn't the greatest way to be heard. One thread on this is enough we don't need ten.

Kicking gens and leaving them for even a small amount of time absolutely decimates their progression. It might not be fun but it's really good at keeping pressure up.
All of your ideas seem rather overpowered, and there's already plenty of slowdown as-is, it's just people refuse to kick gens for whatever reason. They just need to nerf guide next time round.
"all your ideas seem rather overpowered."
Isn't the point of this mode that *everyone* is overpowered? 🤨
@Halloulle said:
ngl, the more I see of 2v8 the more I think killers complaining about gen speeds is, in fact, a skill issue. (And since this is always tit for tat: the same goes for survs claiming gens are too close and it's impossible to get one done without getting pushed off)
No matter which killer pair I've run into, if they're decent when it comes to that killer's mechanics and have a good sense of how to build pressure (aka when to be where on the map, when to go for a chase and when to protect a gen) it's always been a pretty close call; and usually it came down to some timing luck. Be that a survivor being found at an unfortunate moment - or a killer checking gens in the wrong order by chance.
"Skill issue" is not a valid criticism in a fun arcade mode where one side or the other can choose to push so hard, the other has no chance. Either this is the fun chill arcade mode or it's as sweaty as normal Pubs can be, pick one.

It's not entitlement. Wanting to have fun in a game like DBD is not entitlement. The simple fact is that camping is incredibly unfun to go against for most people. And strategies as unfun as camping shouldn't be as effective as camping currently is. It's not even necessarily about balance, but about the enjoyment factor of DBD. No idea how one would see entitlement in that.
They don't do it because they want to have fun. They do it because they want to win, because they feel they deserve to win.
I know because I used to be a Survivor like this. It 100% is entitlement… entitlement to win without ever having the risk of a loss or being "out" in the tag game.
If you really are that "bored" by occasionally being out while your friends try to come save then maybe DBD isn't the game for you.
Also, I wasn't talking to you. Don't ping me me again, I am not interested in arguing and you will not change my mind.
-
I think if the only real distinction between a 3k and a 4k is cheevos, then there's arguably little difference between a 3k and a 4k at all. One's just a "you win with style" option while the other is simply "you win". I really truly wish that BHVR would just adjust the Adepts to not HAVE to be 4ks, it seems like it should just be "win as X Killer with their own perks". That would eliminate stuff like slugging and stuff for adepts.

We don't know yet if they're going to or not, all we know is that they're not against adding them, as Cote have told us during an interview that adding licensed killers to 2v8 is a conversation bhvr needs to have with each license holder and each of them have the right to refuse should they want to.
Logically speaking however, it's a safe bet to make that certain licensed killers such as ghostface will most likely make it into 2v8.
Well then, I might be interested.
If they make the mode less of a genrush fest. Until then I am not interested.

@ReverseVelocity said:
Every class already gets pre-nerf CoB and Overcharge in terms of regression. We don't need abilities that shave off 50% of a gen's progress instantly as well.
Just kick the gens.
That would be nice to do if 2v8 were a little slower.
It's not. Killers need this sort of gen control if BHVR insists on making the gen progression this free in 2v8. We all know Guide is overtuned and the catchup mechanic wasn't implemented correctly, if BHVR wants this to be the fun chase mode we need to give Killers a reason to do that and actually be rewarded.
Because waiting 20 minutes for a 6 minute round where gens pop faster than a teenager's zits before Prom and the Survivors can undo every single bit of pressure possible in about five seconds, isn't fun. And neither is kicking gens.

@Zuiphrode said:
I'd kind of like to know where this strange idea came from that survs should be able to have a completely safe unhook and killers are not allowed to be in the same time zone as the person they hooked.
Entitlement. It comes from entitlement.
You see, hardcore Survivor Mains are still smarting from the fact several broken, skilless aspects of some of their perks got nerfed recently, as well as the fact maps were made more fair (less Survivor-sided overall) and many Killers got much needed updates so the Devs could design new, fun perks for Survivors AND Killers without destroying the weaker half of the roster. This has been happening for about a year and a half now, and unlike Killers who lived for 7 years with this sort of thing happening Survivors aren't used to it.
So now, they come here to whine and complain about mechanics added to the game to help them not get actually, legitimately griefed because they still somehow believe that they deserve easier wins on everyone, since the Devs have handheld and coddled them for 7 years until actual rational people stepped in and said "hey, we should actually balance this HORROR THEMED GAME in favor of KIllers a bit, shouldn't we?"
Then whenever someone who plays Killer, any amount of Killer, calls them out on their entitlement, they all get angry and deflect the idea that "Killers all just wanna win they always play so serious Killers are no fun." Uh no… look in the mirror. Most Killers are fine with a mix of results. Most Killers play for fun.
It's Survivors who are always playing like they're so desperate to win. Almost all of the time. And then they like to deflect that back on Killer players.

And they found a way around it to camp while not getting punished, next question?
That's called "pressuring hooks". It's not camping.
The AFC is meant as anti FACE camp, not anticamp… because there are strategic reasons to "camp" a hook like that, because as the devs have said, camping is valid. The devs have all but said guarding hooks, proxying hooks, defending hooks IS VALID INTENDED GAMEPLAY. And yet, we still have people who think Killers MUST be 20 zipcodes and five days away from hooks before it is no longer "camping".
Time to admit it, long past time. Being near hooks, leaving people down for split seconds, and chasing weak links are ALL valid strats. There is no such thing as a true facecamp, a true tunnel, or a true slug anymore; the Devs have continued to work to remove those. All that really remains now, are tactics. If you cannot play around these valid tactics, it's a skill issue. Time for the Survivor players to actually learn the game the way Killers had to for some 7 years, playing around all the crap Survivors had until very recently. It's REALLY long past time.

Could you explain what you mean by progression tools?
What Killers have for gen regression: Basekit kicking, about 4 (nerfed) really good perks to combat genrush, a handful of perks to slow or limit generator progression that are not as strong, that one Ghostface addon.
What Survivors have: Toolboxes that can do half a gen in about 20 charges with the right addons AND be recharged with the right perks, BNPs (STILL for some reason), perks that reduce charges, many many perks that buff generator speed in various circumstances and all have some utility, a perk that punishes the Killer for chasing them with a gen buff to everyone else while they are being chased, a perk that that instantly put up to 20 charges on gens and pop them in the Killer's face, perks that permanently make every generator have the equivalent of a BNP on them, an entire mode where generator progression is so buffed you can pop three gens in under 1 minute if enough people take the relevant class. Oh, and all of these things stack together for even faster generator progression.
That. That is what I mean. Survivors. Have. Too. Many. Generator. Progressing. Tools.

At the start specifically, you go the opposite direction to where you spawned, towards where you suspect the survivors spawned.
I mean, I run Lethal Pursuer a lot, but without it that's what I do.
What I don't do is start making a loop of the generators, because that's wasting time. I go towards where I strongly suspect the survivors to already be, not searching each gen in turn. At the start of the game, it's painfully obvious why you wouldn't do that; you already have a really good idea where the survivors are likely to be.
My point is that the rest of the trial is like that too, you just have to do the legwork to have that information instead of it being pseudo-guaranteed because of spawn logic. If you already know where a survivor is, patrolling generators would be a waste of time, and you have a lot of control over gaining that information… ergo, relying on patrolling generators is a waste of time, and a last resort you'd only turn to if your other methods of finding survivors have left you without information in that specific moment.
I get that, but my point is that while you shouldn't patrol as a habit (yes, of course, just standing around the same gen cluster wastes time except in specific scenarios), there ARE reasons you check gens and it's definitely not just "as a last resort".

Fun chill arcade mode my behind.
-
They're never going to add licensed Killers nor will they ever add any sort of generator control for Killer, and thus I'm not coming back to it. Ever.
-
You get free infinite pickup against slugs. It's fine as it is.
-
Cool, don't care, still not interested in this mode and still will not play future iterations.
Enjoy your 20 minute queues, BHVR has lost this player and I will be taking a break every time 2v8 comes around again from now on. It's just never gonna be good and never gonna be anything but "sweat or lose" for Killer and ultra-free winmode if you try for Survivor. It's not a "fun chaotic arcade mode", it's just soulless stripped down DBD with everyone being stupid overpowered. Where is the fun?
And no, nothing anyone says in the community will ever convince me otherwise.
Basekit some Killer generator control and add my Mains, or I'm not coming back to 2v8. And since all my mains are licensed, I'm not holding my breath.
-
Yes please.
Maybe also no pallets really close to other pallets or vaults. Not only does it screw Survivors out of actual plays, it screws M1 Killers over with pallets and vaults being too dense. It's good for nobody.
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3844222#Comment_3844222
Yes, last resort.
It's something you can use but should never be your first call, because the other options are so much more effective and less time consuming on average that you're really leaving value on the table if you choose to patrol generators instead.
Any generator you walk to that does not result in a chase is more time you're spending without pressuring survivors, and survivors who aren't being pressured are more than likely going to do generators. Patrolling generators is a good way to lose against halfway efficient teams.
If you have no other information, patrolling generators is a good last resort, but in those scenarios you should really be asking yourself what you could've done/brought to have information at the time you needed it.
So how do YOU know where to go to find people at the start then? Guess? Go in the direction of crows? Lethal Pursuer?
No. You go the direct opposite of where you spawned, usually towards gens.
I rest my case.

Yes I agree. It's still not a 4K though.
If there is to be any meaningful distinction between a 3K and a 4K, then there should be a meaningful amount of effort to obtain it, just like escaping.
But I mean there really isn't that much distinction though, a win is a win is a win. But I do see your point, the effort is there - it's in finding and downing and killing that last Survivor. That's not negligible.
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3843902#Comment_3843902
Even using them as a way of finding survivors is a last resort when you don't have any other method of finding survivors, because every other method is so much better that you should be trying to avoid relying on generator patrol when possible.
Disengaging is important, but part of knowing when is knowing when getting into another chase would be fast enough that it's worth doing. Disengaging from a bad chase to spend half a minute or more looking for another survivor is not actually a particularly good trade, in my opinion.
That's my overall point, you don't focus on the generators, you focus on your objectives directly. Generators can be a useful tool, but not the primary tool or concern.
Last resort? It's the Killer's basekit tool. Part of several basekit tools Killers have, like crows and unhook notifications.
Fortunately, most of the time, Survivors make it very easy to find them.

It's definitely excessively survivor sided, so this makes sense. They might have tried to fix the killer queue problem by making it far more attractive for survivors to play since it's easy wins. Still didn't work - 8 survivors for a single match is a lot. It's likely more of a population issue than a popularity issue.
That being said, it's just a silly game mode. I don't think we should worry all that much about balance. Let survivors be superheroes for a limited time game mode.
Oh they can indulge their superhero fantasy all they want. Without me.
I'm not interested in easy peasy games as Survivor or being the dance monkey with a friend as Killer. The people who want it can have it, it's just not for me.

And also hackers.
Don't forget the influx of hackers.
-
No thank you, I prefer not to play with people who need to sweat-grind for BP. But thank you for the offer.

An uncomfortable DBD truth: Tierlists are incredibly stupid for an assym game, and tell you next to nothing about how good a Killer is. They're meaningless weapon-measuring contests and shouldn't be used for balance. The only people who need DBD Tierlists are people who play comp DBD, everyone else can do just fine without knowing how weak Legion is or how strong Spirit is.
-
There ARE reasons to check gens but yes, especially on some Killers ( *coughLOWMOBILITYKILLERScough* ), it's better to disengage and use them solely to find Survivors, maybe kick if need be. Knowing when to disengage is very important. Why else do you think Killers use stuff like Pain Res and Grim Embrace?

The problem is that the hatch exists for a reason, and slugging to prevent the hatch spawning is circumventing that mechanic.
Getting the hatch might not involve "skill" but it is still a fair shot, it's pretty much a 50/50 chance, slightly in the killers favour. (Unless it's a high mobility killer then it's heavily in the killers favour)
Slugging the third survivor doesn't require skill either, nor is it a fair chance, it is a stalling tactic to guarantee a 4K when you've so far only earned a 3K.
"Only earned a 3k"
LMAO a 3k is still a win. That's a Killer win, you already earned a win. There's no "only" about it, YOU WON. Slugging for a 4k is kinda lame, unless they brought the sweaty/bully energy first. Then it's pretty valid. -

I'm not saying the map needs a god pallet, I'm saying the maps needs more pallets. The main building is the weakest of all the maps, plus the rest of the map is a complete deadzone
Then the fix isn't making Main stronger, the fix is adding a few weaker fillers and making the map a little bigger. If the issue is that the map is a big deadzone, concentrating more and stronger pallets in the main doesn't solve the issue - it just makes an overly frustrating and stronger Main while the rest of the map is STILL a deadzone.
I've also lowkey NEVER seen anyone here or elsewhere ask for further Survivor nerfs to Haddonfield. The general consensus is it's a Killer-sided map for the most part now.

maybe you should learn to play against with killer. there is something to be said about weaker killer though because a lot of reason why these maps are problematic is because they exaggerate the imbalanced mechanics against weaker killers such as safe pallets, infinity windows and god pallets.
Macmil offering is fishing for god windows like growning storehouse. Badham is god pallets with buildings and eyrie of crow is like outside gideon's with safe pallets everywhere. these maps just make you never want to play m1 killers that are mediocre which is like a good half of killer roaster.
At the same time, sometimes survivor use a map offering and it is like soloq baby squad that you demolish anyway.
Not gonna lie, as a M1 Main I dip from the lobby in the loading screen if I see any of these offerings. I am not ashamed. I know that what you're looking for when you offer these are busted setups and some poor inexperienced newer M1 Killer player that you guys can easily bully into a free win - just like sabo Squads who offer petrified oaks. And if we get this map randomly and I even see one little hint the team is using strats like these, it's a 1 way ticket to tunnel and slug city - you brought the energy because of favorable RNG, I just matched it. I refuse to be taken advantage of just because someone and their SWF wants an easy win or some TikTok clips.

I'm also sick of people who grief this way, wasting everyone's time. Like, you're dead on the ground, your friends are dead, you lost, please just let me end the round so we can all move on. I always crawl under a hook if I end up the slug in this situation, or at least crawl into an open area. Shack should not count since almost all maps have one, and the maps that don't have a killer shack definitely have several other god pallets, so at the end of the day Thompson House is probably the only map with 0 god pallets
But Shack DOES count and IS a God Pallet. Saying "But that doesn't count because not all maps have a shack" is like saying "Well the easy 3Gen on the I-shaped maps should not count because not all maps have an easy 3gen." And besides, most maps have God or Strong pallets regardless of there being a shack or not; the point is moot because every map does in fact have at least one God Pallet, several strong pallets, a shack, or a pretty strong Main that creates a safe zone.
Besides that, what is even wrong with a map not having any God pallets? Do you really need a God Pallet, or can we make do with some strong Pallets and strong tiles instead? I really don't think every map even needs a God pallet, God window, or super strong Main, let alone ALL those in combination. BHVR has been trying to move away from that sort of design for good reason - because it's obscenely frustrating on Killer Side, especially for those who play M1s, to know there's some areas you just can't chase in because they are too safe for Survivor.

What does this have to do with the Guide skill in particular though? They are still effected by the mechanic and the 8% speed boost is not a permanent effect, it is only available for 10 seconds every 90 seconds, which is virtually nothing. And the only other ability the guide has that gives a personal bonus to gen speed is after being hooked once and doing a gen near other survivors, which is more gimmicky than it is useful. That's it, that's all that guide does, read the description in game, a single use of Medic's ability saves more time than 8 uses of the Guide's ability when alone on a gen (0.8 seconds of time saved with 8% gen speed boost for 10 seconds vs 8 FULL seconds for half a single heal's worth of time).
TL;DR Medic is somehow better for rushing gens than the Guide skill; Because both Medic is overpowered and Guide is really badThat's incorrect, it's not that simple. ALL Survivors within that range get the benefit below already, ON TOP of whatever repair bennies they already get from other classes, items, and the catchup mechanic. "Saving time" on the order of a couple seconds does not matter when progression is this rapid. That 8% bonus may be for only 10 seconds, but it hardly takes that long to buff a toolbox, another Guide, or to stack bennies to create an over 50% buff to a gen for that 10 seconds… and this is how you get things like three gens done in under 10 seconds in this mode.
