Here is the thing there simply is not enough people playing survivor. Majority play soloq and it's miserable. 2V8 was fun because you couldn't have dead weight teammates, it was easier t handle the killer, and it was pretty even in winning vs losing. Survivors can't be camped or tunneled (mostly) in 2v8 and even if the killers didn't they still won. My wait time in 1v4 killer was easily over 15 minutes during this time.

People don't want useless teammates, to be camped, tunneled and bodyblocked for the kill. It isn't game mechanics it's the players. I came back to soloq today and it was miserable enough to want me to quit and never look back.

The majority across forums and boards are majority of killer mains so of course they don't want 2v8. More people play killer because it's easier and they can get away with more and be lazy as well. All of you saying don't play fine we won't and then come the survivor buffs and you all cry.

I agreed until you added the pointless us vs. them at the end, please don't do that. I had a rotten time both sides, personally.

My main concern with many of these statements is that they place all the blame solely on the players, particularly killers, for employing certain strategies. These strategies didn’t emerge because killers wanted to annoy survivors; they developed over thousands of hours as a response to the current state of game balance. When survivors play at a competent and efficient level, the game can progress so quickly that even securing a single hook can feel like it costs the killer the match.

The solution isn’t to keep patching these issues with add-ons or surface fixes but to look at the overall balance of the game. Fun, diverse playstyles should be rewarded on both sides, ensuring neither is made overly weak while encouraging a fair and engaging experience for everyone.

Efficiency drives the meta on both sides, and these strategies are often a necessity rather than a choice.

This. This is the elephant in the room. This is what nobody is talking about.

  • Because having forever info on the Killer all round PLUS faster gens puts 4 Survivors in a stronger position than some Killers are normally. That's why Invocations can't stack.

They are that powerful. You're only meant to bring one.

  • If the perk really is this overpowered, the Devs will absolutely have to nerf it into uselessness or otherwise make it so that you can't bring any other hook perks or something. The impact of this has basically made slugging the best way to play; I don't understand why BHVR is OK with that.

This perk incentivizes slugging, proxy camping, returning to hooks, and tunnelling out people who use it, and BHVR just does not seem to care, nor do some Survivor Mains here or anywhere online. As long as Survivors get to have fun, right? But what about the Killer's fun?

The problem is, now how will they change this if it comes out that swapping hooks is THIS strong? I don't understand why BHVR keeps on removing any chances Killers have to slow rounds so they can have fun but is now giving all these free candy perks to Survivors after they JUST rebalanced everything to make it more fair.

Survivor fun shouldn't come at the expense of Killer fun, and Killer fun shouldn't come at the expense of Survivor fun. BHVR needs, needs to reconsider this super "you must win to get anything" rhetoric they keep pushing. It makes the game a nightmare.

But nobody seems to care, because "oh, those VILE dastardly tunnelling slugging camping Killers, they're so sweaty, not like us nice pure never sweaty fun Survivors, right?" That really is the vibe. That really is the feeling it gives off when perks like these exist.

All while we STILL have D and C tiers that need help.

This does happen often as a Ghostface Main, and IDK why that is.

    My guess? The reveal mechanic.

It is really, REALLY frustrating as a survivor when you cannot do what you are supposed to do because the mechanic itself doesn't work the way it should.

It was the reason why Ghostface was my least favorite killer in the game before Wesker was added, despite my love for the Scream movies. The mechanic is THAT frustrating.

Honestly that's a really petty reason for someone to DC, but then most reasons to DC are pretty petty. I mean I don't DC just because a Skurchent or Trickster ended up in my lobby… it really reeks of entitlement that people are this willing to DC because a mechanic BHVR created is frustrating.

  • It's over now, Sinkra. The mode is over. It will come back later. You can stop crusading about it because it doesn't matter now. Bone Chill and then what appears to be Chaos Shuffle is next, then maybe some other modes and then Blood Moon. It's going to be a good several months before 2v8 comes back, and you're gonna have to learn to live with that.

A lot of people actually don't want it permanent, and this holds true across basically every single online discussion place this community has, it's a polarizing mode and it has nothing to do with it being "better" than 1v4 which is objective statement not fact. It has nothing to do with BHVR's pride, either, because 1v4 is simply the bread and butter of the game and if you don't like it, you pretty much just don't like Dead by Daylight.

It has to do with the fact that the mode simply screws up 1v4 for everyone who doesn't want to play 2v8 (for various reasons), and it has long queue times for Killer PLUS not much new to do for Survivors. It's 100% due to the queue times - casual Killers exist too you know - that this mode can't be permanent, at least not yet, not until it's 100% ironed out AND Queue times are sorted. We've been over this many times on these forums, and every time you seem to refuse to listen.

If you hate 1v4, don't complain - just stop playing, then come back when your preferred mode is on. That's what everyone else who prefers this mode has done. It's what I did when I got fed up with 2v8, I left. That's also what YOU should do, and I say this as someone worried for you about this because you seem obsessed with being in a cycle of hatred for anyone who prefers 1v4.

The mode is over, and coming back later. Please let it go.

If you do not like 1v4, nobody is holding a gun to your head. Nobody is making you play but yourself. Go play something else if you hate 1v4 so much, you're here complaining a limited mode that messes with the game's wait times on a fundamental level isn't permanent. Or, find a way to make 1v4 fun for you, if Survivor sucks that hard then might I suggest learning a Killer you like and playing without all the perks you find so sweaty? The challenge might even be fun, there's many Killer Mains who like to play that way.

  • I'm just happy Myers got a massive change, the guy really needed it and I am excited as a Myers Enjoyer to come back and see how both my beloved Stalky Boyes are doing now after all the hype from release and my holiday vacation have died down.

  • If one Surv gives up I play as normal but nicer, and if they're really struggling I even let one go or let them get a gen or two. My usual policy though is to let someone go unless I need a Mori on a certain Surv. I just like playing hard but letting people go. :)

If two give up I take that as my tie and then 2-hook the others, then let them go. It wasn't a fair fight.

If there's Bots, I take the Bots as my Kills and let 1-2 go depending on how many people stay in the round. Again, it wasn't a fair fight.

This does happen often as a Ghostface Main, and IDK why that is. I guess people don't like not hearing the Terror Radius, because I'm not the kind of Ghostface that teabags you unless your ass really deserved it.

I don't mind Farming either, but it has to be done towards the end and we both have to decide to drop it and have a truce. I even got this Mori on a Trevor that way - I had Rancor and I let the others go, I would have let HIM go but he stayed in the gate seeing I had it to give me Rancor value. This was before the Mori update.

    Trevor (Simon).jpg
  • Yes thank you! :D This has been a long time coming.

It boggles my mind that casual survivors even play 1v4 anymore. I won't be playing again until 2v8 comes back.

We know. You've said as much on these forums about it constantly since you joined. And as a casual Surv, I LIKE 1v4. Most people are in the same boat or simply not playing until 2v8 returns. Very few of them are complaining about it.

I'll see you in a few months when I go on my designated "2v8 is on so queues are awful" break. :)

  • @sinkra said:

The only people who prefer 1v4 are killer mains who need a 60% kill rate and high mmr swfs. The devs are ignoring the vast majority of casuals who play this game if they don't make 2v8 permanent. It's a far superior gameplay experience.

I prefer 1v4 as Survivor because I can use the actual perks I actually paid for, BP offerings, and the mode isn't as info overload as 2v8. I PREFER 1v4 and think it's the superior gameplay experience for both sides by far.

The reaction this time was mixed, I'm sorry to say. It had flaws this time it didn't have before and needs much more work before it comes back IMHO.

  • Oh thank you Lord, thank you, this NEEDED to happen. The amount of people that send people to preferred maps is stupid and it's absurd that we needed to spend a rare item to halt it.

  • I feel like Houndmaster was never intended to be a high tier Killer, she's meant to be fun. Sometimes, Killers are allowed to just be fun. Not everyone has to be an A tier, it's okay for her to be C or B tier - and I'm sure some dedicated Houndmaster Main will find a way to make her into an A tier in the right circumstances.

Tierlists are for comp, anyway, and DBD has been trying to push in a slightly more "let's have fun" direction for about a year now. If the Devs just changed things like MMR and Emblems to match this more chill idea, we'd be fine. The issue is they haven't yet.

  • Because the last time Survs got a really strong perk it was MFT, and we all know how badly that impacted the meta.

Sorry, it's nothing personal. But due to how the game is and due to it being a 1 versus 4, you simply can't be giving the 4 too many perks that have strong impact on the 1, it creates extreme unbalance and breaks the game. We saw this with original OoO, original DS, original DH, and original MFT.

Killers get overly strong or bad powers nerfed. Look at Skurchent. But SURVIVORS, who have no powers, get their perks nerfed. Because that's just kinda how you balance this game. The 4 have GOT to have weaker things than the 1, otherwise the 4 overpower the 1 if they build just right.

  • @Mandy said:

For the release tomorrow the Live Changes will be as they were in the PTB - however, there will be space in the hotfixes that follow to make changes to those live balance adjustments. We need the feedback on them once they are live.

I do hope you consider looking at Ghostface more then! If not here from feedback with this, then in coming patches. I have all the faith in the world you have more planned for him, Demo, Myers, etc. and Freddy too when he gets his changes in January.

You guys have been killing it, working hard with creating all these crazy modes, taking risks and chances, and making the experience so so so much better for Killer. Genuinely, thank you. This has been the best year of DBD I've had, both sides, genuinely. :)

  • @Matherios said:

Instead of relying on chill players maybe we should nerf those syringes and some survivor perks.

Someone speaking sense; Survivor items are a little too good for how easy they are to get.

I think the perks here are fine though. The problem is that some addons and items when combined, especially toolboxes, give too much value. I genuinely do not think BNP needs to be in the game anymore with some of the perks we have, and I think all the syringe addons need to be toned down. Or maybe we need to limit some items to being the ONLY item, the way Killers bringing Blight Serum are limited.

I know the queue times are unacceptable as they are with the 2v8 on right now. I get it 100%. But sadly it's a part of it. Look back then before MMR was introduced, which turned the game into a sweat feast. Before the MMR queue, it would take like 5 minutes before you could join a match, that was how it back then. But people still played the game, if people dealt with it back then as survivors for years, I'm sure people would deal with it for the meantime. And back then the survivor was the role that would take like 5 to 10 minutes to find a match. I still remember during nighttime how long it would take to find a match, pretty much after 8 PM it would take a while to join a match.

That's kind of the issue though. 15-20 minute queue times for a mode where rounds can last 8 minutes simply isn't acceptable. It's also not acceptable to see any mode gravely affect queues in the non-mode that way. And no other event or mode has EVER created the issues with 1v4 queues the way 2v8 has.

It's a fine mode. It just cannot be permanent, like all the other events and modes. I am perfectly fine with it staying limited like it is.

id prefer if they were a B tier as a fair Standard for killer

That's fair, I think B tier is a good solid place to be at. C and A are also fine, just not too far to S or D.

  • I'm excited for her. Killers don't need to be S tier to be fun and valid and do okay, they don't even need to be A tier.

This is why I think tierlists screwed the community up hard, everyone is so up their own behinds about "strong Killer this" and "weak Killer that" and "balance for A tier MINIMUM" like you can't do anything with a weaker kit. But people main weaker Killers anyway… so what does that really say? That strength doesn't matter as much. Skill does.

  • @Memesis said:

It probably wouldnt hurt to slightly increase the rate that the bar fills when the killer is within 16 meters. Abusing the system to achieve the same result as an old facecamp is just a bad time for everyone. But, there should also be some sort of killer buff that rewards getting completely away from the hook. Think haste from devour hope but more restrictive, or something similar.

I'd support that; it would encourage and reward not camping, even spreading hooks. :)

  • That's fine and all but the issue isn't the mode.

The issue is the queues. People who AREN'T as Trickstaaaaa points out, 2v8 Mains, DO NOT WANT a mode that they don't play to become something that ruins it for everyone else. Those people dislike 2v8 not because it's not fun, but because it messes with the mode they find MORE fun - and that just isn't fun at all for anyone except the 2v8 Mains who want the mode to stay because they like it.

Like, I want Chaos Shuffle to stay forever, but if it affected the queue times I'd be here telling the Devs to keep it a limited time mode, too - because I'm not selfish and I won't put my fun over everyone else's by insisting a mode I like has to stay to the exclusion of everyone else. These modes overall, while awesome for a little while, really should be used as a week or two here or there modes between events, or for a single week or so over one month, but certainly not every single month and not for multiple weeks with multiple extensions like events.

And 100% NONE of them should be permanent.

  • @Trickstaaaaa said:

Chill some people are 2v8 mains. Some of us don't want to touch the 1v4 mode. And ironically they might benefit from the 2v8 mode since it's new player friendly. Think about it in this game you need 1000s of hours to get most of the perks unlocked now. With this mode if your new, you just buy and it play it at an even playing field, everyone has the same perks and whatnot. Hopefully they make it permanently with all the maps and all the killers, which it seems the most likely that this game mode will get implemented permanently. They extended which was surprising, so they got to be seeing some numbers that we are not.

It cannot for the reason of queue times be permanent. None of the modes should be. I'd be fine with some people being 2v8 Mains if it didn't literally ruin the queues for everyone who ISN'T.

Im only to cover one part since the rest is meaningless to me.

"Well if you've already decided you can't be convinced, I'm not sure how helpful this is going to be on a discussion forum, but I'll do my best."

That is where we differ…Im not here to convince anyone to change their mind. In my experience, you never will change ppl minds over video games or on a forum so I don't even try. Im here to vent my feelings about a mode that ruins my experience of the game bc it makes queue times unreasonable. If you love 2v8 then more power to you and Im not going to try to change your mind on that but your enjoyment is taking away from my own bc I can't play the role I want to play. I do think ppl only find 2v8 fun bc it's new and it allows them to play with a friend but in my experience, it has been the worst mode I have played in dbd, light out is more fun imo than this mode. The mode is just as sweaty as normal, as a soloq killer you end up with bad teammates all the time, Survivor is boring bc there is nothing new to do other than do gens and heal ppl 2x as fast, and there are no mmr or matchmaking so you get SO many bad players(for a lot of matches I have died on my first cage bc no one would come to get me) and getting double team sucks esp when you have been doing well in the chase and you get punished with the other killer ambush you.

That all I am saying, my exp with the mode has been some of the worst gaming exp. I'd rather play comp ow and deal with toxic players telling me Im bad than play 2v8.

This has been my exact experience and I just am not having fun with it this time around. I tried, I really did, but I'm not interested. I'm sorry, BHVR. Give me something more than this arcade mode, this IS NOT what I bought the game for.

  • I left when MFT was meta for half a year and the Devs did nothing about it. Survivor was too easy if the good chaser slapped on MFT, Killer was awful if you played anyone other than chase-heavy M2s, and it just was not great. One of the worst metas the game has ever seen. I was gone for three months.

I also take a break whenever 2v8 is on, starting with this one, because I'm not interested in a half-experience of DBD that is super fast and doesn't even have Killers I want to play in it.

For me, a big part of this is the class system. No agonising about the intricacies of builds or meta, just chose a class and go.

I really love the class system and think it should be an option for regular DBD, when you just want to "play a healer" or "play chase".

Or imagine if, let's say P25, unlocked a characters class for themselves and P50 for everyone else

I feel the classes would be better if at least one for Killer simply had a LITTLE generator control, because gens do be flying.

  • They probably saw the aura of you getting IN or OUT of the locker, it's not a hack or a perk or anything like that. Just the Killer using info from their perks. You can confirm this for yourself playing Killer with those perks.

  • Always did, they brought it back way way way too soon. But I think you're complaining a bit too much here.

There's a couple of killer perks and add-ons that can shift who's the Obsession is So all a killer would have to do is make any other surv the Obsession and the prior one's load out now becomes useless.

Synergizes with some builds based around Obsessions too.

Since it's the end quater of the year with 2 guarenteed, long, festive events it will feel more congested than normal. Once the xmas event goes past, it will probably be a more even pace until we hit a more cemented event like Blood Moon or the Games anniversary before returning to the October Marathon.

2v8 is the exception as it's supposdly meant to be permanent at some point, so until there done iterating on it and adding new things people want to try and see, it'll effect the queues for its breif run time, unil its full implementation.

I sincerely hope the full implementation is its own game, not a permanent mode. I don't think we have enough people to support it as its own side mode.

I'd really rather have Chaos Shuffle as its own permanent mode. Plus if 2v8 becomes permanent, what happens to the other modes and events? How the hell is the game gonna handle THREE queues when it can't even handle 2v8?

  • I generally agree, the mode is Survivor-sided if they even remotely try, but Killer-sided if you play the strongest ones.

I'm not sure what BHVR thought they were doing here but they did it wrong, they should have gone with weaker Killer choices and LESS powerful Survivor tools this time around.First iteration was way more fun.

You are 100% correct any thing thats killer side ani event, chaos mode, void event amd 2 v 8 ofc they want it to extend but its ok ifnthe like 30mins queues, who are we to stop them?

… The Anniversary event is the only one of those that was remotely Killer sided. Chaos Shuffle is pretty balanced, Haunted is a little more balanced leaning Surv, and 2v8 is balanced towards Killers if they are good and Survivors if they SWF and get their act together resulting in unfun onesided stomps even with all the balancing done.

  • I think it's very possible to have fun and win in 1v4. The problem is nobody else seems to think so.

But for what it's worth I feel like all my games in 1v4 both sides have felt better than 2v8. That's just my experience.

  • All I know is I enjoyed the first iteration much more than this one. Something's off with the balance here and I gave up after a few days.

  • I stopped playing out of boredom after about two days so I don't know.

  • @Deathstroke said:

Why some are you so negative over fun game mode being extended? You guys could chill a bit.

I'm not negative over a fun game mode. The game mode is fine enough and a good idea, and yes, popular and good. I'm not a fan, but I think it's fine. I'm just very realistic about how bad the mode has screwed up queues, and I'm worried if it's made permanent it will ruin the game to the point of killing it.

My comments aren't said out of negativity or hatred for the game mode. My comments are out of love for this game and wanting it to not die because some people prefer a game mode that is half of what the actual game is, because they don't want to admit they don't like really hard games and they simply need a break from it.

I criticize stuff I don't like in the game, in the hopes BHVR will look at why I and others are saying this, and prevent the game from suffering for a limited event mode that is slowly growing more people that dislike it over time with each iteration. I don't doubt there will be an even larger group of people who don't like this mode next time, same as with the other modes and events. It's very likely this mode will lose its novelty if made permanent, too, meaning only the people who want easy Killer stomps and simple Survivor gameplay will play it. That's not bad, and would fix queue times, but is that really the experience you want for the game? It's not for me.

Most people complain about camping because of how unfun it is to go against. Of course there are people that also complain about it because they feel it's overpowered or what not, but that's just a small minority, I am pretty sure.

Trying to make it look like entitlement won't help your argument in any way or form. People play a game for enjoyment, and not getting to play the game because of a camping killer is indeed something most players don't like, and of course that's not entitlement. As a dev you would want a game to be as fun as possible for players, and currently it isn't because strategies like camping and tunneling exist, that are unfun to go against, strong and also take very little skill.

I'm a killer main myself but can see why people hate camping and tunneling.

But it is in fact entitlement. It's true people dislike camping and tunnelling because it's unfun. But people also dislike genrushing, which is also unfun to go against. Those are all valid tools the devs allow, it's like getting upset at flashlights.

  • @Efrost said:

There just isnt a very viable option for this. If you drop to 4 survivors. The amount of buffs you would have to do is insane. Simply because of the sheer amount of pressure you could do as 2 killers. Each find 1 survivor and down them now the other 2 are in an almost unwinnable situation. Or tunnel one out easy. Hook states do nothing to fix this problem so they arnt good nor is dropping gen counts down. Even with 6 player you still have these problems. If the fantasy is the killer being powerful. you are then removing that fantasy because you have to buff the survivors by a large amount to compensate the 2 killers.

I mean arguably they already removed that fantasy judging by how well Survs could outright STOMP on Killers in this mode if they even remotely tried.

I’ve had no issues as killer in 2v8, especially when there’s a blight in the team. Sounds like a skill issue to me.

"I've had no issues, especially when the strongest Killer in the mode is there, so it's a skill issue and you just suck."

Of course you have had no issues. Blight is there. If you wanted to insult me you could just do it outright… or you can acknowledge the mode's issues and how unfun those issues are.

  • This mode will never truly succeed until the Devs make it so queues aren't uttelry destroyed for 1v4 every time the mode is on. They managed it with every other event and mode, so why is this one so problematic? Is it because it's double the players? It has to be, it's more than just the mode being very popular.

At least it's literally only three days this time.

  • I am dreading the inevitable third iteration of 2v8 even more. Deeply so.

The queues are just gonna get worse. :(

Honestly, the only reason I'm still playing 2v8 is because of the Bloopoints. I need to get my Mikaela to P100.

Because this 2v8 is way worse than the previous version, and I still can't play a killer that I actually enjoy playing.

That's really the only reason for players like us to play though isn't it? Bloodpoints and easy Surv wins.

  • I think that's my big issue with 2v8 in general - that it's just DBD but… you know. Less.

I feel like if you prefer and only wanna play this mode you probably shouldn't be playing DBD, but something like Overwatch.

I know these accounts eventually get banned but unless something changes with the forum rules and who is allowed to post, this is just going to keep happening every weekend/holiday when forums aren't actively moderated. When people are banned they just come right back with alt accounts and the cycle continues. There needs to be some sort of minimum amount of time and/or minimum amount of comments posted before someone is allowed to create a new thread. That might not completely solve the problem but would at least serve as some form of deterrence. Hardware banning would be ideal but I have no idea if that's even possible on this forum.

I think that's more than fair, yes.

  • I only play Myers with low TR + Gen control, and double shards. My playstyle will not change but I am looking forward to using some of the new perks!

  • Killer sided?

    Please tell me you're joking.

  • There are actually only three S tier Killers. Dead Hard helps against 0 of them, never did, never will.

Dead Hard dodges may have been fun to watch, but were misery to play against for 95% of the then current roster and wouldn't be effective on much of the now current roster anyway. It was so bad that it made lunge hits a useless play and a time waster, making chases worse for Killer overall most of the time and punishing good chase plays by rewarding the Survivor with way more distance than they should have gotten had they not had Dead Hard. Like old MFT, old DH needlessly extended chases to the point some were genuinely unwinnable as some Killers if people brought this. All bringing it back now would do is unnecessarily weaken anyone with lower chase potential than those handful of really strong chase-heavy Killers, and do nothing to the current batch of Killers.

We do not need things in the game that make the game miserable to the point some Killers aren't viable at all.

Yes, Pallets or vault points too close to lockers lockers. If you turn your camera angle even the slightest angle, it switches the action on you. I've been screwed over by this many times. It has nothing to do with "button spamming" as some idiots say.

It happens with Killers too. Someone goes down near a Vault, Locker, or downed Pallet and - oops! You can't pick them up gotta break it/open the locker/do the vault! The only difference is, it just wastes Killer time and doesn't screw them over like it does Survivor. Still annoying.

I hate that some survivors have taken bhvrs acknowledgement and solutions for actual problems and decided that means there should be no scenario where the killer has an advantage if they dont like it.

    We all hate that.

It really is time, 100%, to learn strategy now. They had 7 years to learn, none of you did, now they want the game to coddle you more.

BHVR's not gonna coddle people like this anymore. LEARN. Grow.

  • What did I tell you?

People who miss the broken older versions of maps do not miss those maps - they miss them being free easy wins against certain Killers.

Am I one of the few who actually liked 2v8 this time around?

This is not meant to be rude here: Yes. Yes you are. The growing consensus is that this version is pretty mixed, you either enjoy it heartily and never want it to leave, or you kinda enjoyed it but are over it, or you don't like it at all. Most people are in camps 2 or 3 from what I am seeing.
