As a killer main who’s never touched Huntress I’ll definitely be asking for help from survivors 🤣

Who else will be in the same boat throughout Tome 3?

I’ll address the obvious before someone stated it ChALlEnGeS ArE MeAnT To Be ChAlLeNgInG

Uhh the only one I see is "hit 3 hatchets in a game". That's not even 2 downs? Assuming you are not a green rank killer running into red rank SWFs that seems doable in 1-2 games, even if you don't play huntress ever.

  • @DwightOP said:

Nope nope nope! Stay away from her. Before her nerf it was already a difficult killer to learn. But at least she wasn't that boring and frustrating, you were fast all the time. Now it's just a super annoying and frustating killer. Even when you master her at one point and shred every lobby I will guarantee you you won't have any fun. That's my experience with her. I destroy lobbys but do I have fun? Nope

I disagree. Before her nerf she was insanely overpowered. I remember feeling great about murdering people with some perfect predictions through walls.

Now? You put on "im all ears" and get wallhacks for free.

She has been nerfed, but rightly so. I don't kill people as fast as nurse on any other killer in the game. I don't play her often, because she is so easy, and also annoying with the constant self stuns. It usually takes me a few games to warm up on her though.

But if you want to 3-4k? Nothing is better. Not even Spirit.

  • @Fibijean said:

It really depends what you're trying to get out of it. You're right in saying that other killers, like Spirit and Freddy, can do almost as well as Nurse for a fraction of the effort, so she's not the right pick if you're trying to maximise your reward to investment ratio. People who put the effort into learning Nurse usually do it because they enjoy her playstyle, because they want to feel like they've really earned their wins, because they like the challenge or the prestige of mastering the hardest killer in the game, or a combination of the above.

Or they just played her before the nerf and have the muscle memory down. She really isn't that hard if you have the map knowledge of the game, and have a few hundred hours on her. I started off with billy, then swapped to nurse many many years ago because she was just that overpowered.

Sometimes I still mess up a blink but nail a survivor anyways and it looks like I outplayed them from their side.

  • On PS4? No way, not worth it.

On PC? I still see some nurses running around perkless/add-on-less at red ranks absolutely slaying people.

Camping only works as well as Survivors let it.

If the camped Survivor is using Kindred, the other three teammates might choose to gen rush and escape in the two minutes it takes to die first hook because the Killer has zero map pressure. No BT or DS needed for a three person escape at all. The Killer gets their one kill and de-ranks.

"if the survivor is using this one perk, in this one situation, everyone wins!" Except if they don't, it's a totally free win for the killer. I don't consider that argument.

It doesn't happen in the majority of games. That's why it keeps working for me. It has worked for years after years. I can count on one hand the amount of times kindred has stopped a camping killer, over 3+ years of gameplay.

  • Maybe quit losing, because if they are at the exit gate already, they deserve to win. Killer can BM just as hard as survivors.

  • @gatsby said:

Uses Perks to avoid bad scenarios and Uses Perks to bail out of bad scenarios.

    Here are some examples:

Kindred- ensure a safe rescue. Borrowed Time- make an unsafe rescue into a safer one.

Inner Strength- keep yourself healed. Iron Will- minimize the disadvantages of being injured.

Spine Chill- get a head start on a chase or prevent it from happening. Dead Hard- buy extra time in a chase when it happens.

    etc.

Mmmm, but BT/DS are also about a requirement in some situations. Someone is getting camped in the basement? BT/DS or it's a free kill.

"Just don't go down into the basement in the first place" except half the maps are empty as hell now. Killer has never been easier, and I say that as a killer main used to dealing with the pallet filled maps.

Now the maps are pretty empty for the most part, bar a few specific ones. Toss someone in the basement, camp them, and you are good to go unless it's a highly coordinated SWF, or it took you 3 gens to down them.

The counter is too do gens. Yes you may depip, but so will the killer.

There's no way. Unless the survivor has kindred, you have no idea that a stealth killer is camping. Before the kindred buff? You could fake leaving as wraith, then just stand there for your free mori. You can't expect people to run 1 perk for a super specific situation, even if it is super overpowered. There's too many situations like that in DBD to justify it.

  • @CornMoss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1243790#Comment_1243790

Wraith gotta hit his bell so its a confirmed unhook, the survivor can then body block the unhooked one. Ghost face you can look at him and that whole "strat" that is OP you are talking about is completely gone

It's pretty easy to nail the unhooked survivor with the wraith speed-boost even if someone is trying to bodyblock you. I got called "el camperino" many times years back specifically because of how stupid easy it is to mori someone off the hook with wratih.

Now you have ghostface, who has no uncloak animation. With a good hook, you can sit literally around the corner and listen for footsteps. Then boom, instakill off the hook with a mori. It's way more clean than wraith can ever be, given the right hook.

  • @Cheers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1243770#Comment_1243770

I'm a rank 1 survivor and killer, and this is how I refer to them as.

I am as well. Tell me how you counter a stealth killer or 16m terror radius killer proxy or facecamping a hook? BT will not work. Very few people run kindred, and relying on 1 perk to counter an overpowered strategy that most people will not be using is a bad argument (which is why I think "do bones" against NOED is dumb).

Wraith can camp hooks pretty hard, but ghostface is the king. You can down someone about half a second after they get unhooked. Wraith? People can see it coming during the uncloak, but ghostface no. If DS did not exist, camping ghostface would be meta against solo Q teams. I am almost certain of it.

  • Solo Q survivor is very hard. Much harder than playing killer once you have gotten good at both sides. You can't rely on your team for a damn thing.

Killer you can know what to do in each situation, and the only real challenge is going against a coordinated SWF.

Solo Q? Well, you might just hit 2nd stage or just outright die on your first hook. After someone else fed the myers tier 3 and you ate the 99% stalk.

  • The best killers in the game practically ignore these perks. Nurse / Spirit can down a survivor again within 10 seconds. Freddy does negate BT sometimes, and can drop DS into a snare.

Killer second chance perks include spirit fury + enduring, and NOED. I would want to include play with your food + nemesis as well, because it is equally as brain dead. But at least it takes a while to charge up and you can see it coming with the obsession swap.

Also used to be Sprint Burst/Borrowed Time/Decisive Strike/Unbreakable four time ov-

    Oh wait.

Also not the point of the thread.

That your potato team DC's? People just kill themselves on first hook now. It's not much different, trust me. Solo Q is as annoying as ever, even worse now that you can't run a bad killer indefinitely.

At least, not on half the new maps. I've already run into a new god window. Springwood is still pallet town.

  • Old DBD at high ranks was.......nurse nurse nurse nurse nurse nurse / billy / nurse nurse nurse nurse / billy / nurse nurse nurse.

  • No, serious. The outfits offer an advantage over every other character in the game. You will notice when the killer misses you hiding in plain sight.

I've had games on Yamaoka where my teammate goes down 5-6 feet away, procs an IF scream on me, and I can still urban evade away no problem. Or games where my teammate is looping something near me and im literally crouching nearby as they both run past me, the killer touching me with every loop.

It's clearly the best skin for stealth, and if the dev's want a stealth meta, you may as well play into it? Some of the maps you can still loop a bit on, others are map-wide deadzones where being spotted is a death sentence no matter how good you are. Only blendette can comfortably survive in those areas.

  • @csandman1977 said:

I've read that many if not all killer breathing noises have been raised.

It's dumb because they left the default breathing noise in as well. So I am playing myers, hear the constant spooky breathing, and then a random female breath every now and then too?

  • @Desh said:

I'm going to go out on a limb and say 99% of people do not use Spine Chill in the red ranks for the skill check. They use it because it nullifies any possibility of being snuck up on by stealth Killers and it's honestly the best counter to Spirit. Stake out makes sense because it's solely based on getting great skill checks. It's also an actual teachable perk from a character unlike Spine Chill which is universal.

Yeah, basically. It's probably one of the best, if not the best, perks in the game for solo Q players. Otherwise you just get merc'd by stealth killers on indoor maps or when working on generators with lots of LOS blockers nearby.

The added vault speed to help counter-act dedicated window hits is just a bonus to me.

Sometimes it's a heartbeat killer on an open map and it's not really needed. Other times you hit ghostface on Lery's and it's the only thing stopping you from getting murdered.

Is your 70-80% through the Exit Gates or is it primarily a hatch escape?

I play a lot more altruistic than you do for certain! 🤣I try to unhook people unless it is outright suicide. I also never bring keys unless it is for a challenge because I think that keys are just the Survivor equivalent of a mori and I hate moris.

Which ability let's you open the gate so quickly? I thought that Wake Up was a perk like Leader which affected Survivors near you? I cannot check the game right now. <3 so I apologize for asking a question with an easy answer.

And definitely a ton of hatch escapes. You can tell pretty quick if it's going to be a hatch game or not in solo Q. Load into Hawkins, 2 people are hooked at the same time, with a 3rd being chased, in the first minute~ of the game? Yeah, it's going to be a hatch game.

Load in, someone literally gets 2 tapped within 20-30 seconds, and then the killer comes over and pops your gen, deleting the barely 20 seconds you put into it? It's a hatch game.

Wake up is just a flat 15% faster gate open speed. Resilience adds another 9% onto that if you are injured. For about 25% faster open speed or ~15 seconds. If you are already standing on a door when the killer closes the hatch you have a pretty good chance of getting out.

Sometimes I do play for my team, and will run the usual meta perks. But if your team is bad, or the killer is just dominating, they won't help you as much as perks that help yourself.

There's way too many solo Q games where someone kills themselves on first hook or DC's for me to want to run my entire build dedicated around team play. I will usually only do that if I am in a SWF.

Alot of the times when I die it's because of getting caught with infectious fright, mori's, a killer who slugs for the 4k with whispers, or a killer who let's my teammate go or something so they can come rat me out. There's pretty much nothing you can do in those situations.

  • Quite a bit, maybe 70-80%+ of the time. But I also usually run left behind, a key, spine chill, blendette, and am willing to let people die on hook so I can get out the hatch.

It's not needed alot of the time, but there's also plenty of games where your team is getting 2 tapped into your gen getting repeatedly popped and there's actually nothing to do except wait for the hatch. Especially now that looping isn't really too viable anymore, been seeing solo Q teams get stomped harder than ever.

If I don't have a key, I run plunderers until I get another key. Or maybe wake up + resilience and just stand on a door until the killer finds the hatch. Opening a door in ~15 seconds is a pretty good alternative to left behind key.

  • @DwightOP said:

Who would have seen coming that once the speed of working together gets nerfed (which is already a bad strategy to begin with because spreading out is more efficient) will make the last potatoe realise it's not worth it and genrushing solo is the better option?

Probably not the same people who thought nerfing healing speed will make gens go slower lol (hurray to resilience + adrenaline meta).

Yeah, I saw it coming no suprise. And it's just day 1. Give it a few weeks and everyone will solo pump gens

Resilience is meta because it is the only thing in the game that will save you from dedicated window hits. Not for the 7~ seconds it takes off a generator.

There's nothing about killer that is braindead easy, especially at Red ranks. Yes those killers you listed are strong, but you still need skill to use them effectively. I'm not "complaining" about a medkit. I'm just describing in detail the level of difficulty of playing with survivor, which is very LOW difficulty. And you misconstrue that as complaining? Ok. And at the same time your counter is Bamboozle Legion? One of the weakest killers in the game? And Oni in his power? Oni is so easy to juke in his power as long as you don't put yourself into choke points. And god windows actually completely nullify Oni's power so I have no idea what you're talking about. You're seriously just showing off your lack of game knowledge here.

As for Nurse, she's only passable on PC and completely dreadful on console, and Spirit was nerfed into the ground and isn't nearly as powerful as she was before, I'm not sure how you missed that. And did you seriously just say Windstorm Wraith like he's some weapon of mass destruction? I'm sensing incredible bias here and you're seriously reaching here. Wow. Just wow.

There's plenty of killers that are braindead easy. I consider Freddy and Spirit incredibly easy. Nurse is also pretty easy once you have the muscle memory for her, which I do since I have been maining killer for 3+ years now.

I'd argue solo Q survivor is significantly more hard than killer. It's not uncommon to die on your first hook in red rank games, and you will be going up against the most overpowered things killers can muster regularly.

Windstorm wraith can bodyblock any infinite. Bamboozle legion hard-counters any infinite window, as well as anyone running bamboozle really. But him extra hard since he just vaults it and blocks it straight after you for his free hit.

As I demonstrated in the post above, you can almost be running a mori every 1/3 games if you wish. A tunnel mori at 5 gens instantly ends the game.

Killers still have a ~ton~ of super overpowered add-ons to use. There's the obvious culprits like perma tier 3 / iri heads / rusty shackles / etc. But there's also some other really bad combos like extra box + tampered timer pig. It's literally a set-and-forget mori. You get time to search 4 boxes when there are 5, so there's a 20% chance you just die no matter what from it.

Survivors have.....keys, which are endgame only. It's also incredibly hard to both find and gather up a solo Q team to the hatch.

Any killer who is bad in chase can still equip spirit fury + enduring. Or NOED. Those are some of the easiest downs in the game currently.

  • I'm not a survivor main but here's how im dealing with solo Q currently...

It's a horror game. Get used to dying I guess. I'm just tired of killers complaining all the time and I'm hoping this update can appease them. Obviously it's not working, even with everything they asked for they still are extremely unsatisfied. Sad.

I mean look at some of my average bloodwebs. Keep in mind with BBQ I can clear out about 1 of these per game.

Every single thing I circled I consider a super easy game. So you can nearly always be running OP stuff at least every other game as killer currently.

You must love the new patch. Way more mindgame potential and not just braindead god loops.

Yes many mindgames as I crouch around with blendette.

I love how people think killer is hard to play. It is hard to play fair, but it's not hard to play dirty.

Otzdarva just had a video showcasing how you can guaranteed 2k every single game with bubba getting 3 M1 hits. 2 M1's to down the first guy, facecamp him with a chainsaw. 1 M1 with NOED at the endgame, facecamping him with a chainsaw. 2k+ for doing basically nothing, and that's if the team is playing unaltrustic which usually isn't the case. But killer is hard. Keep telling yourself that.

  • @ChainsawCharlie said:

Urban Evade for 10 minutes, then immediately run towards a god loop the first time the killer sees you. Rinse and repeat, then complain about getting tunneled the next time you get chased, and go for that same god loop. Don't forgot the Medkit with 48 charges or the Skeleton Key. Yeah killer is definitely soooooooo much easier in comparison (sarcasm.)

The fact you are complaining about a medkit that's not instant is hilarious to me.

Complaining about god loops is also funny when pretty much everyone at red ranks was playing a killer or build that could nullify them. Go ahead, run the god loop against the nurse, spirit, oni in their power, windstorm wraith, bamboozle legions, etc.

Killer is easy, and most of the red rank killers were already 4king solo Q teams with ease before this patch. I'm not saying survivor is hard, but making killer braindead easy across the board encourages the blendette meta. And that's actually the most resident sleeper thing I can think of.

  • @NursesBootie said:

I just throw in the nurse, spirit and ruin nerf. Most survivor players from 2016 feel like the game gets killer sided, because survivor takes more and more skill nowadays.

I don't know how people thinking urban evading around as blendette is skill, compared to mindgaming the killer for 5+ minutes straight. But you do you.

No, you're exactly where you appear to be. Pressing it early doesn't give you any benefit over pressing it later, the vault doesn't start until you're actually at the window. Pressing it sooner just makes you run towards the window like you normally would.

Pressing it later does give you an advantage, in that you don't get sucked into a nearby locker instead of vaulting the window, which is a common occurrence if the vault is right next to a locker.

  • Capture.PNG

This build is mad strong with dead mans switch. You find / make a new obsession at the start of the match, snare spam them down. Put snares at the hook, BBQ over to another gen (class photo locks every gen being worked on for 45s), get a hit if you can.

Go back to the hook, tunnel the guy off the hook. Drop DS into a snare. If you down them before dead man's is up, wait a few seconds for it to be off cooldown. Hook the obsession again, rinse and repeat until everyone is dead. A good game will have gens locked up for almost the entire match.

  • lol.PNG

To be fair, this could happen before on Swamp Maps. Those can spawn with nothing in the middle, leaving the Grim Pantry Window as the only option as Survivor. But we know what happened to this.

(Because of this, Swamp was horrible for both sides... Now it is only one side...)

I've never seen a swamp this empty. There was the shack, 1-2 filler pallets, and I think a pallet under the staircase. Maybe a 4 walls (aka unsafe) jungle gym in the corner of the map, but I didn't check. That was it. There were usually 2-3 pallets in the center area, and a few rock pallets where the Jake was hooked.

There's no way the number of pallets was not reduced.

  • What3.png

This is going to be the urban evasion, sprint burst blendette meta. It's worse than I ever thought.

  • what1.png What2.png

Whole maps are deadzones now. They say they didn't reduce the number of pallets but I honestly don't believe that from what I have seen so far.

  • Crap.png

Welcome to deadzone by daylight though. Good lord. There were 2 pallets on one entire side of the map, and 1 of them was a crappy one?

Free wins for killer now. No wonder killer Q times are so high.

Worst update I have ever seen in this game, and there's been some pretty bad ones.

  • Freddy is the best killer for ruin. Or billy / windstorm wraith. But Freddy especially since they can either stay asleep and do gens, or have the gens regress as they run across the map to find a clock. If they don't wake up? Begin the snare spam.

  • Rolled some people as spirit fury instasaw billy. As expected. Long killer Q times.

  • As solo? I'd run deliverance and left behind. Save someone for the deliverance proc. If it's not up, assume you will die on your first hook. Because in plenty of games, that will be the case.

  • lols.PNG

You have to find some humor in that

  • @Peanits said:

Simply put, because there's more to pips than just the end result. There's a big difference between someone who struggles all match and just barely gets two kills in the end game and someone who does really well, has short chases and gets 10 hooks.

I'm pretty sure i've gotten 9-10 hook black pip games as deathslinger at red ranks. And actually scoffed at the endgame when it didn't give me a pip.

Meanwhile, you can still just run around spamming stabs as legion and pip almost no matter what you do.

  • @NursesBootie said:

It got no counter. Currently only a few people use this tech, but after more people learn to use it there will be an uproar and a nerf probably.

You can put on lightborn or franklins if you see 3+ flashlights in the lobby. I don't, because I still don't mind flashlights enough to waste a perk slot to counter them, but it's still something you can do.

As I said, you can tell it's SWF if the entire lobby joins at the same time, and you can sometimes check profiles to confirm your suspicions.

I am way more scared of keys than I will ever be of flashlights. I was way more scared of toolboxes than flashlights before they got nerfed into the ground.

  • Most of the people I actually watch never had TTV in the name, I just checked the profile after seeing a particularly good performance from them; and noticed they were also streaming.

  • Eh, it's a huge risk to run in solo Q. If your team is garbage you just lose, if the killer ignores you and kills off your weaker teammates, you just lose. Sole survivor is bugged and still doesn't work, has not worked for months, doesn't even look like they fixed it in 3.7 either.

If you play enough you will know who the object SWFs are. And they will mark you with a program with called loop when you bring in an ebony and ghostface with NOED to murder them.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

So you never understood the difference in killing and ranking?

Killing = playing tombstone myers and 4k depipping

Pipping = playing legion and getting a pip with 1 kill

  • Overpowered, but needed. Tunneling people off would be way too easy without it. The strongest killers already can basically ignore it. Nurse / Spirit just down you again in 10 seconds, Freddy drops you into a snare.

  • It means nothing. 99% of the time an obsession just means some random in the lobby has DS (or at high ranks, just everyone has DS).

It's almost never the killer is running PWYF, pretty much the only relevant obsession perk.

  • Never seen it, in 5,000+ hours of DBD at rank 1. If it's a SWF you can tell because the lobby fills up at the same time, and you prepare accordingly (aka slap on the ebony).

  • Are you going to address the ‘dead zones’ (spaces between maze tiles where players don’t have anything to interact with)? (from @Vampirox)

The short answer is yes. As with many of the other map changes, it’s something that the map designers want to look into at some point, but have been unable to thus far due to time constraints. The current tile diversity system used on newer maps “to keep things fresh and exciting” is not in place on older maps, meaning that the dead zones on those older maps tend to be less consistent. They would like to implement the same tile diversity system on the older maps at some stage, but again, it’s just something they haven’t yet been able to find time for.

Listen, the dev's are too busy adding in new deadzones to deal with the current deadzones.

Mainly cheaters. This guy keeps referring to one game as an example. But let's be real. DBD would have the same problem.

I rarely see blatant cheaters on the PC. A few per thousand hours of playtime. DBD is very casual. You can equip wallhacks as a perk or add-on. I would play on console to ensure there are no cheats, but the FPS is so garbage I can't tolerate it. Nor do I notice it enough to be a problem. I would never play an FPS game seriously on the PC though.
