Plague has the best perks but is the most boring to play.
Spirit is OP.
Deathslinger is the most fun to play (in my opinion) but not exactly the best killer. Probably feels the best out of any killer in the game when you are popping off on him, because it is so hard to do. I have seen people do very well with him using a controller on PC.

It feels cool to bust down a wall during a chase, but in dead dawg saloon there's like 5 of them in the same building so it feels more like a chore to kick them all down than some kind of tactical option.

People were thinking about this perk combo on release, it's just a lot of people watch DbD content creators and believe those are the people that come up with these builds.
I don't really see the point of kindred or open handed. I've seen tons of people combo OoO with spine chill since the undetectable buff. I think 2 more perks for looping would be way better, since you are pretty likely to get tunneled or chased right at the start of the game.

So I've been in love with Pig for a long time now. She's my favorite Killer, and was actually the one that I used for the push to rank 1 for the first time back before BNP's got their second (I think?) nerf.
That said, despite my love of her, even I've got to admit she needs a little TLC. One of the more frequent things when I see discussions on Pig and how people would buff her is to make Rule Set 2 default. The moment this is said though, there is an uproar of people that say that it would make the traps too powerful.
Like I've said, many times before on different subjects here, my question is why?
You look at a lot of different people's videos discussing Killers, or ask someone a question who's been Red Rank for a while what Rule Set 2 actually does to you, and many of them will say, "Nothing. It's essentially worthless." The reason for this is that generators get done really fast at higher ranks, sometimes even at lower ranks, and it's almost impossible to get any real value out of it, especially for 7k bloodpoints.
Obviously I'm only a 2k hour scrub. I'm not 24/7 dedicated to the game like some people are, but logically speaking, I don't really see what the issue is? If the add-on literally is of no use because generators get done quickly, then what would the issue be in it being default to stall for a little extra time when generator progression is slow during a game?
It's great with a map offering and another add-on to make the traps more lethal.
This build I find pretty nasty. They can do gens, but then get a nasty surprise when they find out there's 5 boxes to go through when the gen pops. Or, they can wander around the indoor map being completely useless for like a minute, and then have to do the boxes once a gen is done.
If you hook someone else in the meantime, you can beeline over to them and encourage the RBT kill.
Anyone saying the add-on is weak is nuts.
-
You can get almost all the meta perks for survivor with 3 characters to level 40. Bill, David, and Laurie. And the last one you level up will probably have the meta combo before you even hit 40.
Killer you get the two most important perks with 2 characters to level 40. Plague and Clown for corrupt + pop. Everything after that is preference, but that's 2 characters to 40 to be competitive at any rank in the game with killer.
-
I'd probably just use "We'll make it" because autodidact has a horrible tendency to not give you enough tokens fast enough for it to matter. Or worse, you are trying to get a heal off and the first two token stacks regressing the heal get your teammate killed.
It's somewhat rare for the killer to injure someone and just run off to let them heal. You will mainly do healing when you unhook someone. You also need to be running something like Empathy to get your healer style build to really be impactful, assuming the killer is just hitting people with sloppy butcher and running off, and that autodidact / empathy could just be BT/DS instead.
I mainly see one person running it in a SWF, and even then it looks mediocre compared to just slapping on another second chance perk.

I've been 4k average since I started playing 3 years ago, and if there's all these potatos in red ranks like you imply why are all the killer on the forum in their collective group trying to nerf everything under the sun?
I would say there is an equal amount of complaints from both sides. For every thread I see complaining about DS, there is another thread complaining about NOED. For every post whining about mori's, there is another post crying about keys. Probably way more threads (rightfully, in my opinion) complaining about spirit, freddy, huntress hitboxes, etc, than I see killers (rightfully, in my opinion) complaining about the plethora of second chance perks survivors have.
Could also be because anyone trying to learn killer at this point in time is getting stomped on by red ranks and SWF even when they are rank 20, as evidenced by screenshots on these forums, due to the lack of killer players.

What are you talking about? Why are you going on a tangent about survivor being easy? I never implied, or even stated that survivor is somehow hard, both sides are easy so I'm not entirely sure what your point is, and yea sure nurse was easy when she had omegablink / 3 blinks, but how was killer, as a whole easier just because nurse had omega?
It's like if survivors said killer got easier because doc was buffed recently, doesn't really make much sense, if any at all.
Because survivor is so easy since the ruin nerf that every boosted potato and their mom is a red rank survivor these days. So for killers who were used to playing against the good survivors, rolling the new generation of gen rushers rocking who can barely loop isn't particularly hard. So that's why saying "ooo I 4k at red ranks I am good killer" means almost nothing.
You can get red ranks who camp the shack pallet, or red ranks who know how to run every tile. And it really only takes 1 or 2 bad survivors to sink a team if the killer is good.
-
I'm waiting for someone to come on the forums to complain they got camped and tunneled by trapper-bot.

If I said, the guy who wants to kill you is nearby, or the guy who wants to kill you is looking right in your direction, which one of those would freak you out more. Spinechill is a better perk in every way, and they are similar only on a base level. They're both information perks. One just is way better and doubles as an advantage perk. The advantage being the action speed boost
Well, it kinda makes sense that spine chill is more powerful in that if the killer could just find everyone instantly it would be pretty overpowered. With some good map knowledge it basically already does that though, at least at the start of the game and at the endgame. Especially on stealth killers or doc/billy, where it allows you to spawn onto a map and get your first chase, arguably the most important chase in the game, within 20-30 seconds.
The "action speed boost" from spine chill is hardly noticeable in most situations. It is only good for the vault speed, and it needs to be stacked with resilience to be impactful. Now that dedicated vault hits seem to be somewhat alleviated in 3.7, it's even less noticeable.

He's rocking double purple add-ons, some red add-ons, and the best yellow add-on there is. Is that 7 out of 10 games with at least green windstorm? With the others fast uncloak with map-wide or silent bell?
I can win most games running a killers best add-ons too.

This forum by all means has labelled me a "survivor main", yet i hop on my rank 1 killer and 3/4K almost every game I play, a "survivor main"... better than killers... That's a Y I K E S bruh.
Oh and she had a purple key, was rank 4, and had about 75 hours in the game. Not even a few days in and she's already got the full meta combo, OP items, and is apparently winning most games. That's about how easy survivor is unless you are hitting the thousand hour+ killers who actually know how to play the tiles.

Nah, I think killer was way easier in the days of 5 blink or omegablink nurse. Or maybe during 15m lunge range spirit. Ruin + Pop was just so brutal on every killer. Being able to dribble DS or ignore it with enduring almost made up for double the pallets.
These days though, I see survivors with less than 100 hours in red ranks. All they gotta do is level up 4x second chance perks and they will waste a good amount of time even if they can't loop and camp every pallet. I saw a baby Laurie the other day with almost the full combo leveled to 3 already. BT/DS/DH/Unbreakable.
So it's not much of a surprise that veteran players can slay most lobbies even at red ranks. But will a veteran slay another lobby of veterans? Ehhhh, depends on the map and what killer you are playing mainly.

W r o n g. Spinechill is NOTHING like whispers bud. Do you only play survivor?
How is it nothing like whispers? Both give you situational awareness within about the same range, and rely on your ability to interpret that information to make good use of them. I feel like the increased action speed on spine chill is mainly there so if you are so potato you can't even notice the perk is lighting up, you get a color change in your action bar to notify you instead.

Yeah I slap on the ebony alot these days. Sure, it's OP. But who cares? It's in the game.
And to be blunt, sometimes it's the only way you are ever gonna win. Load into springwood against some 3000+ hour red rank survivors and you are playing clown? You gonna need that ebony, cause just chasing people through the first basement house alone could take 1-2 minutes which will be 3 gens popped.

Is this a serious question? You do realize that in this game certain killers have really good anti loop. Almost nothing you can do about it. Regular Loops are a lot weaker now. God loops are gone. Maps are smaller. All of this benefits the killer 🤣 it always benefits the killer with each passing update. Survivor nerfs just get tucked away in a perk somewhere. You know it’s true2Also, DS doesn’t always give you enough time
God loops are not gone. There's still quite a few left, if you have the eye for them.
"DS doesn't give enough time" you can literally go sit in a locker for 1 minute, using no resources, and that in theory is close to 3 gens done by the rest of your team. Or, they open the locker, and you get a completely free extra life if you are not a potato and can hit a huge skillcheck.
-
@Hex_Stalk said:
Like if a survivor is looking at you within a certain radius (and they can physically see you), then the killer will get a buff to their action speed. Like breaking pallets, vaulting windows, power recharge, etc. It could be called Sixth Sense.
And I'm not talking about Whispers.
Wouldn't this just be called "Play Ghostface" and have a few pallet looping perks? The survivor is always going to be looking at you during loops anyways.
-
Stealth was always meta against the A and S tier killers. Pre-nerf nurse pretty much your only option was to hide. Same with pre-nerf spirit. Most of the maps have been nerfed enough and the new killers are so strong in a chase the best bet is to sit in lockers half the game. There's almost nothing you can do when the oni pop's his power on you, unless you have a ton of safe pallets nearby. There's very little to do if you fall asleep and get found by freddy before you can go across the map to your wake-up box.
I disagree with nobody running DS, I see almost 2 DS every lobby, sometimes all the way up to 4 DS. Dead hard is still pretty common, though I see more sprint burst now.
Iron will has always been the best perk in the game in my opinion. I haven't played a single survivor game without iron will in years. It's great for looping, and also great for hiding. Calm spirit I am liking much more now too, since IF and doctor are becoming pretty prevalent. Some of the better killers also pay attention to crows.
There's still a few maps you can offer and bring object of obsession and loop the killer for minutes at a time though. Springwood comes to mind instantly.
-
I don't think she is very good. I used to main her because she was one of the only killers who could really attack out of stealth (pre-buff wraith was too telegraphed most of the time), her and myers. But then ghostface came along.
The RBTs are little more than a time waster, unless you are running purple add-ons; or are absolutely decimating a team to the point where the people with active bear-traps are forced to go for unhooks.
The dash attack only works at some short loops and even then it's more of a 50-50 if you are going to land it. It's always better to just uncrouch and M1 instead of dash attack at gens because sprint burst screws over a dash attack so hard.
She does have some of the best cheese in the game in that you can force head-trap pops, but you can usually only afford to do that if you are very ahead.

Grabbing a blade is very different. Grabbing the blade of a knife or sword is perfectly safe if you're wearing gloves, as long as you don't run your hand along it. That will slice you hand (and any thin leather gloves you may be wearing, as in Ghostface's case) open. If knives didn't cut through leather easily, leatherworkers wouldn't use them for that exact purpose.
That doesn't mean they are actually leather though. They could be made of anything. I have a pair of motorcycle gloves I am pretty confident I could just run my hand along a kitchen knife with. Especially if I had a stainless steel mesh inner glove on as well ( I said pretty confident 😅).
-
@Fibijean said:
What bothers me the most is the way Ghostface cleans his blade. I know it's a callback to the films, but I've never seen him do it in the films in such a way that he's likely to slice his hand open in the process. I'm going to guess that BHVR's modelling/animation staff just don't do a lot of blade-wielding.
Well, in the movies he is wearing what appears to be pretty light fabric. But the ghostface outfit in DBD looks like pretty thick leather. There's plenty of cheap kitchen gloves you can grab knives with in the same way ghostface cleans the blade, let alone something more expensive.

That's why you go near other survivors before looking at the killer, so they think it was one of them with OOO.
If you get a stealth killer you just take extra care to not look around.
And as someone who has been using Red Herring for a few days now, it's not as effective as you think at luring the killer. Maybe at the start of the game but it's value is in having the killer second guess if they kicked a gen or not.
I am pretty sure OoO takes priority over DS in terms of becoming the obsession, or it feels that way. So the killer probably won't fall for that. You can also see the outline clear enough to know which survivor character the object user is playing as.
If your team is all dead and you have OoO, even one glimpse is liable to get you found against a stealth killer. Only sole survivor will protect you in that case, it's a shame it's been broken for months now.....
And I find the most use out of red herring in losing games, after a few people are dead but there's still gens left. That's when you can red herring a gen on one side of the map, walk to the other, and red herring before starting a gen on the other side. Otherwise there's usually too many other survivors around to distract the killer instead.
-
I could never get over how they just hold it like a regular knife instead of using the safety ring.

Sole Survivor is complete doo doo butter. Anyone knows that. You can't be serious with that statement? Just don't look in the killer's direction.
And you want Deliverance/Unbreakable because other survivors will refuse to help you.
There's tons of stealth killers in the game, and it's almost impossible for the killer not to catch any glimpses of you when you are running object. It's not like the other survivors will know you are running the killer into them either way, they will probably just think it's coincidence. There's also a chance that the killer just tunnels you and ignores everyone else because you have object.
Sole survivor is great with object imo, because if the killer just ignores you and kills off your weaker team members you are in a really bad spot. You can also get stopped from making saves with object, especially against 1 shot killers. It's super powerful having 3 stacks when everyone is dead, especially if you have left behind and a key as well. I'd only use object by itself along with a map offering, to make sure I don't get stuck using object against a ghostface on lery's or something.
Either way, I think red herring would be just as good for luring the killer into your team. And they would have no idea you were doing it as well. You could have like bond, open handed, left behind, red herring, your key, and just enjoy the show while sitting next to a locker.
-
@thesuicidefox said:
Bond, OOO, Unbreakable, Deliverance.
Lead killer to other survivors. Safe rescue at least 1 guy and you aren't reliant on other survivors.
Uhhh, yeah you are. If you are running OoO without sole survivor even if everyone else dies it just means the killer is going to instantly come and kill you and you don't get a chance to find the hatch. And sole survivor doesn't even work right now.
The toxic build would be something like bond, red herring, deliverance, spine chill and a key. Find survivors working on gens, red herring the gen, spine chill to avoid any aggro yourself, and take the hatch out once everyone is dead.

"I don't ever go for a 4-man slug"...then everything you said before that is irrelevant because this situation doesn't happen to you. If you catch and hook every survivor individually before they can save anyone...by all means, put them out of their misery. But slugging is a totally different animal.
I do like your admission that your enjoyment is clearly your sole focus.
Trying to draw a comparison between an FPS and DBD is not comparable. They are two completely different games/mechanics. And actually, if you want to draw that comparison - YES, in competitive BR tourney's players DO give their competitors a pass to get to end game as a means to avoid unnecessary fights that might take themselves out of the game early...because its more advantageous for all involved to get higher placement. They'll pass and meet them in end game later on. Just like you might be able to slug a full team and death hook everyone 1st hook in the first 2 minutes of a match, but it would be more advantageous for everyone involved NOT to, to secure your rank and theirs. You'll see them in no time later in the match and still probably win.
The OP said absolutely nothing about toxic behavior or killing t-baggers. You are straying way off topic to try and prove some point that is not in line with this thread. Should you kill someone being a toxic #########? Sure. Should you do everything on your power to full slug a 4-man team and death hook them before any gens are done? ######### no. Idk why thats even up for discussion, since it's apples and oranges, but whatever.
Just because I don't go for 4 man slugs, doesn't mean i'm not capable of doing it. I slug opportunistically. I'd much rather go for something more sure-fire, and not counter-able by a single perk. Every 4 man slug attempt can be countered by one unbreakable. So 2 unbreakables means you will probably have to get 10+ downs for that 4 man slug, which could have just been 10 hooks. I don't get procs of some of the best perks in the game, pop goes the weasel and BBQ, with slugging. You never know when SWF will be in your lobbies, so knockout is unreliable at best.
You will only 4 man slug a survivor team if they are horrible at red ranks. Or you are running a cheesy build like perma tier 3 myers + IF + the game offering. It's really as simple as that.
-
Give him a slowdown or cast animation for the snares. So it's more rewarding to set them up in advance instead of mindlessly spamming them down at every loop and automatically winning if they stay there or if there is nothing else nearby.
Make the box spawns RNG instead of always spawning across the map from you.

I'm not refuting that. Clearly some level of mistake was made, even if the Killer brought knock out. But going hard against a team that's obviously handicapped in some way is like winning the special olympics as an olympic gold medalist. If that makes you feel good, you have issues. The point is, a team like that is clearly not a threat, so there's no logical reason to slug them all down when they have accomplished exactly nothing, unless you are trying to be a dick. There really is no reason to ever slug an entire team at all. Its incredibly counter productive for everyone's progress, including the Killer.
If the survivor team is that bad, I am probably not having fun chasing them anyways. And would rather just kill them and get onto the next game. I don't ever go for a 4 man slug because usually there's 1-2 unbreakables per game and I play like every survivor has unbreakable (some lobbies do).
Also, can you imagine applying that logic to any other PvP game out there? Would you not shoot the other team in CS:GO or Call Of Duty because they are bad? Why do you think all the smurfs in League of Legends are celebrated?
I have people teabagging me at 5 gens, when they have "accomplished nothing". I saw a rank 4 survivor today who could not loop, camped the shack pallet, and then teabagged after they threw it. I would not consider that a threat. But if you expect me to feel bad about depipping people like that, I don't think so.
-
@LALYTHIA said:

I actually do get sacrificed in matches where the Killer played well but was out played. Not only will I do that, the one person I play with occasionally will do it also, because we figure 2 out / 2 in is fair and it's likely we'll PIP.
I don't recommend a style of play I don't readily use myself.
Also, when a Killer slugs everyone with 5 gens undone, people didn't even get to play the match. When survivors best the Killer and leave, they did all 5 gens, giving the Killer ample time to get their job done.
If the survivors are getting 4 man slugged at 5 gens left, they are making massive, massive mistakes and the killer is probably infectious fright hillbilly. Every map has enough safe pallets you can camp them like a bot and still get a 1 gen chase out of it.
-
What's wrong with making the survivors depip? I feel like in plenty of my killer games the survivors would not bat an eye if I depipped.
I would say at least a fourth of my games have someone teabagging or clicking a flashlight at me, and I will hear footsteps of people following me as I bring someone to the hook.
I don't mind getting brutal killer or even depipping, I feel like tombstone myers is the most hilarious way to 3-4k depip in the game. I have played from rank 8 killer to rank 1 killer recently and...the matchmaking is exactly the same. Even at rank 8 you will still hit full rank 1 survivor lobbies. So the rank is nothing but a flex honestly.
The pip system is also arbitrary. Sometimes I feel like I did super well and get brutal killer, other times I feel like I did nothing and got a pip. 5 hooks camping the basement with trapper in purple ranks was enough for a pip. 10 hooks with deathslinger at red ranks was a brutal killer.
-
Nothing is worse than hitting a great shot as the slinger, but oh whoops there's a tiny little object in the way so no down for you.
There's some cool situations where you can spear a survivor on one side of the pallet, then slowly drag yourself all the way over and get a down.
But then again, huntress would just down them instantly over the pallet. Huntress with add-ons can get to 7 hatchets in a row with reduced charge speed, 90 second exhaust, or built-in wallhacks. With iron maiden and 7 hatchets you can pretty much just lob them nonstop.
Deathslinger with his best add-ons gets....a slightly faster reload and a slightly better chain. I believe dead-harding his spear resets the dead hard still. I won't compare iri coin to iri heads since iri heads are just on a completely different level.
Huntress is just better in every way except that deathslinger is a cooler character to play, and has built-in BM with his laughs.
-
A completely free kill, or more, for 1 perk slot seems like a pretty good trade-off. It means that pretty much no matter what you do, you will always get at least get 1 kill.
If you could equip 4 perks that all gave you a free kill that's the whole team.
There's so many killer builds that are strong enough to handle only having 3 perks all game, if they even needed 4 perks at all. Even if you somehow manage to screw it up so bad with an overpowered build it gets to the endgame, you can still get another free kill or two even though the survivors outplayed you all game.
-
I think this build is pretty spooky. The knock out is mostly there to scare people, could probably get replaced with something else if you are more tryhard. Make your choice being 32m + 32m wallhacks with the mirror goes so well together, and lets you build up to the devour 3 very quickly.
Then you are 1 shot jumpscare myers, only 2 hits away from murdering everyone, and you can defend the totem super easily with the mirror.

No, the perks are the problem. There is no time to 12 hook against meta survivors who actually do gens if you are not playing a killer like nurse or spirit. With meta perks you can't slug, you can't camp, you can't tunnel. So you are forced into trying the 12 hook but it won't work when a single hook can take a minute against a survivor who is actually good.

Stick to an original story, please. This is just ridiculous now. Huntress takes so much skill to use and she's a slow killer, so please stop changing your story to benefit your agenda.
No, she doesn't. Huntress is literally a guessing game for the survivor. Is she going to M1, or pull up a hatchet at the pallet? That is huntress 101. Sorry to break it to you.

I wish these people would play against the full red rank survivor lobbies with a killer that isn't S tier. Even if you are slaying, the game is going to be over in 3-4 minutes. You can spawn in, walk to a gen, 2 tap a survivor, and that will cost you the first generator.
Then you got the survivors being invincible for 2 minutes of the game? Balanced perk. It's why I use the very balanced mori's any chance I get.

Huntress here. DS is fine.
Almost just as bad. At least the other killers have to earn the hits instead of throwing hatchets in the survivor's general direction and getting downs.

"Im a killer main, I spam Freddy and Spirit, DS does not impact my games at all". Git gud gg ez baby survivors.

Nope. Dev's will never change NOED because DBD is never meant to be a competitive game. It's a party game, or late night game to play when you are drunk.

On survivor yes, they look pretty good.
On killer, no, gotta keep the hooks looking spooky.

Shirtless ghostface please

I explained it earlier. The killer has to be constantly in motion and constantly thinking. As for how to fix it, I admit that is a much more difficult thing to do. I am, open to suggestions.
Listen, when I started playing this game maybe 3.5 years ago, I got stomped on. Absolutely stomped on. But as time went on, I got used to the stress, and learned to embrace it. It is the only way to improve yourself.
But you can always take the easy way out (play Freddy). Or, you can come and complain on the forums instead.

"The fact that you say they would win in solo as well also shows there is an obvious imbalance between Killers and survivors"
Coming from my statement to this is kinda...meh. Sure, if they are better, they should win. Only because they are playing Survivor does not mean that they cannot be skilled or simply better at the game than the Killer.
This is a major flaw in this community - only because the Killer is playing the Powerrole does not mean they cannot lose.
I mainly play killer, and I fully believe that survivors should win if they are better than the killer. There are plenty of mechanics in the game for the killer to stomp on almost anyone, even SWF.
You see the entire lobby join at the same time? Slap on the ebony mori. It's really that simple to deal with SWF. You can even check profiles before the game if you want.
