If you're a terrible player it balances out your lack of skill and then some, you're right

I'm joking. It's ridiculously overpowered and needs a nerf. Sorry you could not catch onto the sarcasm.

Did you just post a picture where you killed everyone with an ebony mori? Is this a brag or something?

Nope. I'm saying it's a perfectly balanced offering.

I don't even know what your post means. Who said a 3k for killer is a loss? I said if I was the last one at the hatch against a scummy mori playing killer, I'd sit at the hatch all day long to prevent more groups from having to deal with skilless players that can't hack it without ez mode. If I can do it without moris as a killer, so can most anyone, noone wants to play against that crap. Ever.

I'm running mori's all night. I don't care if 1 person gets out, I don't have time to slug for the 4k.

Cool Story bro. You waste your own time rather than have to face the humiliation of someone jumping in the hatch after you mori the other three. If I was the nea I would have sat there forever, because moris are bull crap and so is any killer that uses them.

I hate people who think a 3k for the killer is a loss. Mori's are BS but are still in the game. Deal with them.

You said there s a particular way to run the tiles as if survivors are bots that always choose one rout . Its not like that.

The klller is the one who chooses the route? You can run it clockwise, allowing the survivors a fast vault for free, or you can run it counter-clockwise, making them do a medium vault and take a hit. Obviously those may not be the correct terms but that's the basic idea of running a jungle gym. You can also equip bamboozle, vault the window, and render the tile useless.

  • @Reborn2020 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1238339#Comment_1238339

10 seconds to drop the pallet? Okay tell me then. Lets take shack or jungle gym . How to run them?

Jungle gym, run it in a way they can't vault the window without taking a hit. The best killers in the game never run it in a way you are running towards the window for a free vault, only counter-clockwise to that direction.

Shack, double or triple vault the window. Hope they don't run off the tile in the meantime, most survivors won't.

  • Dumbest thing I have heard in a while. I almost don't want to explain why because it is so basic.

You can run a tile in a way it takes 60 seconds for the survivor to drop the pallet and run to the next tile, or run the tile in a way it takes 10 seconds to drop the pallet and run to the next tile. Hmmmm. No particular way to run them.

If you think looping is the only skillful interaction, you're ignoring 3/4 of the killer gameplay but whatever float your boat.

What is DBD but chasing and hooking survivors? That is the definition of looping. You need to know who you can chase, who you should abandon, and which generator clusters to protect. That is about the extent of the gameplay.

  • @Magikazam said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1238319#Comment_1238319

You said loop was the only skillfull interaction and you never specified it was for survivor side only. But I think my point stand, complaining Freddy require no brain cause he ignore any mindgame is a ######### thing to complain about when at the same time people cry that spirit does the exact oposite.

Looping is the only skillful interaction for both sides. Killer deals with loops only, survivors hold M1 and loop. I argue both Freddy and Spirit are braindead because Freddy ignores all looping, the same with Spirit. The "mindgames" Spirit have are negated by equipping the perk stridor, and wearing a pair of headphones. They see you, you are dead. There is little to no counterplay. It was the same, as still is the same, with Nurse. But at least she got nerfed into the floor so that only top tier players can use her. Any goon can pick up Spirit or Freddy and do well with them currently.

You gotta be kidding me. I play mainly killer, with plenty of survivor on the side. What makes a good survivor? How good they can hold M1 on gens? Or how good they can run the tiles? Please think before you speak.

I laugh as killer and survivor when I notice calm spirit. Brilliant to see a wasted perk slot. I'd say calm spirit isn't in the top 30 survivor perks in the game tbh.

The perks my mates commonly swap between are Inner Strength, DS, Unbreakable, Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, Spine Chill, Adrenaline, Iron Will, Head-On, Resilience and WGLF. I might be forgetting a few but these in my opinion are the best perks in the game.

Nuts. Some of the strongest killers in the game run infectious fright, which is in my opinion the scariest perk in the game. When the hillbilly chainsaws a random and you are in a deadzone 10 feet away? That's when you are happy you have calm spirit.

Doctor is super annoying and it is a hard counter, but you will hit plenty of slugging Oni / Billy / Nurse / Spirits at red ranks running IF and it's one of the only ways to protect yourself from it. It is decent in a chase as well, when combined with iron will. It can throw off some killers to where you sprint bursted off to after being hurt.

WGLF, a BP farming perk, over just straight up not dying to a slugging Oni when 3 people on your team are downed at 4 gens left? I don't think so.

I wont deny that Freddy is in a strong position in the tier list, but seeing a killer a lot don't mean they are strong. I barely saw any nurse back in the day when she was God tier.

Then you must not have been playing at the high ranks because I saw nurse maybe every other game, if not more than that. She is still god tier, for those who invest the time into learning her.

Nearly everyone in this thread is complaining that they can't outrun Freddy because sleep or snares when the reality of the game is that you aren't guaranteed an escape. If you drop a pallet and freddy chases you around. Try to waste as much of his time as possible so your team can work on gens. If you get down, your TEAM should hide in a locker so Freddy can't see with BBQ. They call him braindead but the reality is survivors don't want to use theirs.

"I'm the killer, and I should be guaranteed a win because I saw the survivors!" Did you even see that clip I posted? What are you actually supposed to do against Freddy on a map like that? You just lose by default if he has a brain. Stealth is usually not a realistic option in DBD, so don't say that is the answer either.

If you really think every pallet is meant to be broken that you are a bad killer. There are safe pallets and unsafe pallets for a reason.

Except Freddy turns 90% of the pallets in the game into unsafe pallets. He is one of the few killers in the game who can shut down god windows with his base kit, that's how strong his power is.

I did say this earlier, but that's like placing Hag traps near a hooked survivor. It's a braindead way to play, but it is effective. There are ways of playing Freddy, or ANY killer that isn't completely mindless. If there is a way to not play into the killer's wishes in that way, then I'm sorry, but it's up to survivors to find and utilise that method.

Some of these, though, cannot simply be a "survivor deal with it" issue such as the Hag hooks and I accept that. I don't see snare-spam anywhere and I've played Freddy closer to Trapper with very pleasing results.

This might be an issue though of the community perception of a strong killer simply being ease of a 4k (which Freddy can certainly do!) compared to the devs caring more about the emblem system.

    https://clips.twitch.tv/CrowdedAntediluvianNeanderthalHeyGuys

That's me playing some "optimal Freddy" at rank 1.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1237992#Comment_1237992

Well, I generally don't consider BP gains as a sign of a killer's worth, as it can be manipulated with perks such as BBq. And while, yes, Tombstone Myers is incredibly expensive, it's a far more braindead approach than trying to set up snares or believable pallets as Freddy.

I'm also the type of player that believes that the individual shouldn't be overly punished for the errors of the TEAM in this case. I shouldn't be deleted because I can run someone and hide, but my team can't. If I get beaten by a Freddy, I KNOW that they are simply a better killer than I am survivor. Or they found the hatch and I didn't get a gate in time. They didn't get carried by a stupid add-on that removes 90% of gameplay.

If I do go against a Tombstone Myers (and yes this happened), avoid him at all costs but he catches wind of me. We're already two minutes into the match, I've done some totems to avoid the possibility of NoED, so I've only done one generator. I chase him through the Cowshed, disappeared with Dance with Me, Lithe and Q&Q. Doubled back to throw him off, but must have realised. Hid behind a tree, he found me, I tried to run, popped Tier-III, grabbed me and I was dead. My total gains? Bit over 5k bloodpoints and a de-pip. Maybe 6k. I was too annoyed at my idiot team to notice. He did nothing but stalk, and get ONE HIT to kill me. Only intelligent bit of gameplay was reading through my double-back.

Against a Freddy, though, there is still mind-gaming at loops, proper snare/pallet placement, correct teleportation and all that usual killer stuff.

It's more the fact that he can always be running good add-ons or mori's. Myers can't, nor is BBQ very optimal on low mobility killers. It's especially bad on tombstone since ideally you are not even hooking 2-3 of the survivors.

Myers can be looped, Freddy you literally spam snares as you walk and that's enough to shut down anything that is not a god-pallet. Tombstone Myers requires minutes to build power against a good team, ultra rare Freddy steps into the game and can start spamming snares from second 0.

"Correct snare placement" is ridiculously easy, and not really even needed with enough spam, as well as "correct teleportation" aka just teleporting to the gen people are working on with BBQ so you can pop it. The only real mindgames with Freddy are teleporting to a gen in front of someone during a chase.

Point was for them is that they largely require one hit with a braindead approach. And there is nothing less satisfying than having a Myers stalk you for 0.2 of a second, then killing you instantly.

Compare that to tombstone myers where your pretty expensive tombstone build, which can't really afford to run BBQ against good players, is going to be getting you like 11-12k points. But a Freddy Ultra rare game will be getting you the 50k or more with BBQ.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Point was for them is that they largely require one hit with a braindead approach. And there is nothing less satisfying than having a Myers stalk you for 0.2 of a second, then killing you instantly.

They both require so much stalk that it's alot of your teams fault. Sure, it's dumb that myers can come over, stalk you for 2-3 seconds, and then pop perma tier 3 on you. But it's not any less dumb than having a Freddy teleporting onto your generator to regress it like 3 times in a row because your team is getting bodied. Or Oni / Plague popping their power on you when you haven't seen them all game. Or legion getting a free stab on you because your team was nearby and got spotted, etc etc.

I've had games where myers comes over to me at the start of the game, and im at a jungle gym or the shack, and he just loses the game right there because by the time he realizes that im not letting him stalk me for free, 2-3 gens are 50% done already.

Freddy is a BP machine in addition to being so strong, so with BBQ you can be running ridiculous builds on him often as well. Every game is like 40-50k, up to 80-90k with a pudding; so every game is almost a bloodweb. And every bloodweb usually has 2-3 of: mori's, black wards, strong purple add-ons, ultra-rares, or cheesy killer-sided maps.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Ok. Just because I killer plays slightly differently to the rest of the cast doesn't make them braindead. You can play him like Trapper with his snares, which is what I do a majority of the time, but you also get the added bonus of not having to pick them up and can try to shut off long loops or infinites by either snaring them for a hit or psyching them out into running off. Maybe most people aren't just big brain enough to enjoy Freddy, like how Hag players spam traps at hooks.

If we want to talk about braindead killers, how about something like Infinite Tier-III Myers, or even Tombstone Myers, Insta-saw Bubba and Billy or Hook-Trap Hag.

Infinite tier 3 / tombstone myers can both be trapped in tier 1 for a long time against a good team. Tombstone grabs are super finicky on dedicated servers, and can be countered by jumping into a locker.

Instasaw bubba and billy both can be looped, unlike Freddy. Freddy can also ignore BT alot of the time, and can drop DS straight onto snares.

  • I don't care what you think, you already think Freddy is fine as he is.

    Hard Tunnel.PNG

This has gotta be the easiest to execute, hardest tunneling build that exists in the game outside of an ivory or ebony. They got rid of the old remember me + dying light specifically because of how unhealthy these builds are....but then added them right back in.

And that’s what makes Clown a ######### tier killer who’s never played. We need more killers like Freddy and Spirit who can actually do well. You complainers probably don’t play killer much or all.

I main killer at red ranks. There's a difference between a killer being powerful, and just being cheap. Spirit is super cheap too, especially with stridor.

They are for killers too bad or too lazy to learn how to run the tiles in the game. I play Freddy when I want an easy game.

  • @Kakateve said:

Reeeeee Freddy is so brainless reeeeeee. I can’t mindlessly hold down W at a loop because he knows where to put his traps and I don’t want to waste the pallet REEEEEEE.

I think Freddy is one of the only killers you can get away with never mindgaming on. You ~can~ actually hold W in chase while spamming snares, never kick pallets, and eventually get downs. Especially if you run something like bamboozle on him. Can't ever get a hit without the snare spam? Don't worry, they will fall asleep passively no matter how bad you are in chase.

Is it the most efficient? No, but the fact it can be done proves his mindlessness. At least killers like clown have some sort of resource management.

  • You should see him tunneling with black box and dead man's switch. Use DS? Well, now you are permanently asleep and will be hitting snares the second you get off the hook.

The OG strat with old freddy was to tunnel off the obsession with remember me + dying light and the black box; but this new combo is just as bad.

Because you cant convince people to get into chases when they dont want to. What you can do is make it so a single chase doesnt take 5 mins with decent tiles, promoting NEW chases frequently.

You act like you are not liable to get facecamped by bubba the first time you go down in this game.

Killers can just slap on Freddy and win every chase as it is. But let's nerf all the tiles to promote new, healthy freddy and spirit chases lmao

Imagine complaining that Killers want a secondary objective so that gens don't get done in under 5 minutes. Survivor are FAR less perk-reliant than the vast majority of Killers, they can survive without having a 4-pack of second chance perks and use something to actually counter the Killer perks that they love to complain about so much

In solo Q? Nah. You usually need the 2nd chance perks to have a chance when your team is full potato. Gens can get done in 5 minutes but an IF billy can down an entire noob team in under a minute. Even at rank 1 you get put into green rank teams against a red-purple rank killer.

Teammate gets downed in 20 seconds and now the killer is camping them, but using BT/DS to have a chance is crutch right? I would actually not bother with solo Q survivor if I could not be running stuff like left behind + key. I'd only play killer.

  • @MegMain98 said:

Nurse has one of the lowest kill rates, but does that make her a weak killer? I take those statistics with a grain of salt.

“A few good pallets”. You mean every pallet on the map? Maybe two of them are mindgameable, all of the other ones are uber safe.

If you want to do nothing but kick pallets and have no opportunity to mindgame pallets then be my guest, but you’re gonna be really hurt when you’re an M1 killer on the game against a good team.

The map is only killer sided if the survivors use their resources quickly because they have nothing left to work with. Good survivors will most likely always win on this map, but the majority of the playerbase are causal and don’t have 1000+ hours so they aren’t that great. So most of your matches will be pretty easy as killer regardless of the map you are on.

The Game is so boring that most people don’t even try on that map. All the indoor maps have statistically high kill rates but I wouldn’t say that they are the absolute BEST killer maps. I would argue Azarov’s and Shelter Woods are better maps for killer.

I run the game as an offering on many killers, with super cheesy builds. You ever try rusty shackles hag on the game? Survivors just suicide. It is very powerful when you play to it's strengths. Even m1 killers can slap on brutal / enduring and be totally fine. No god windows, great totem spawns, just a few good pallets, and a ton of LOS blocks for easy hits.

  • @MegMain98 said:

The Game is NOT killer favored in the slightest. The map is nothing but safe pallets that are basically endless that the killer has no opportunity to mindgame at all. You must kick the pallets to advance in a chase and if the survivors can preserve pallets and keep chase for a long time then you will lose. The Game is nothing but pallet kicking simulator 2K20.

A lot of killer have no opportunity to use their power effectively. Billy? Forget about it. Oni? Too many sharps turns. Huntress? That’s laughable. Deathslinger? Not with all those pallets. Plague? They are already behind a wall by the time your puke is charged? Nurse? Good luck not getting your blinks shortened by debris. Spirit? Even she can’t deal with safe pallets.

The map is boring for both sides so nobody likes it besides stealth killers and maybe big terror radius Doctor.

If it's not killer favored, why does it have one of the statistically highest killer kill rates? There's a few good pallets, and that's it. Other than that, it's a stealth killers dream and as long as you avoid the god room it's a pretty easy time as killer.

Silly for iri head huntress to run noed, but take the L and move on to the next game. Noed is pretty much the only counter and deterrent to the gen rush.

Or you know, playing well. But keep crutching on overpowered perks and thinking it's skill.

  • @CosmicParagon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1234733#Comment_1234733

Perk build means almost nothing for survivor, there are MANY red rank survivors who can consistantly escape perkless. You can stand to lose a couple of your second chance perks, considering the Killer is already playing with 3 perks for 90% of the game.

I think trading off 1 perk for a guaranteed kill at the end of the game if you lose is a pretty fair trade. Perk builds for survivor are needed when you run into competent players running any of the myriad of overpowered things killers can muster. Sure you can run around perkless, if the killer is mediocre and playing nice. But when you run into a good camping tunneling freddy with a mori and red add-ons? Yeah, I think you are gonna need the perks.

  • @Dwinchester said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1234733#Comment_1234733

Exactly. You spend the 3-4 minutes, which gives the killer time, or you gen rush and risk the noed.

And what about when the killer is just an overpowered character, running overpowered items, or running a mori? You want to give 3-4 extra minutes to an iri head huntress with a mori? It's just a dumb, braindead mechanic that is completely RNG based in solo Q. The only people defending it are people crutching on it, I believe that.

Hillbilly is pretty well-balanced. He has very strong map pressure and can instadown, but his instadown isn't almighty and mostly relies on deadzones to work well, and his chainsaw constantly broadcasts his location which is an extreme disadvantage especially at high levels of play.

By "broken", I'll take that to mean overpowered instead of with truly broken design (IMO Plague is the most "broken" character, because she doesn't actually work to her original design), to which I would probably say Freddy.

Freddy is not totally ludicrous or unbeatable, but he IMO gets results that are too good for an extremely basic level of play right now. A Killer getting good results is fine but I would prefer a greater level of strategy and player skill be involved in the process.

As for Survivors, they're just differentriated by teachables, so there isn't really a proper answer to that QUENTIN.

Hillbilly is only balanced on the older maps. And even then some of them make him super overpowered. You get hillbilly on Shelter Woods, the map with like 3-4 good pallets? Terrible and boring game no matter what happens, he sees you? You go down. He probably has spirit fury and IF as well, along with built-in brutal strength in the form of a fast saw.

Better hug a locker to block BBQ or you are screwed.

The new ones, which give survivors very little to work with, also make him pretty bad. Hillbilly is why I think the 3.7 update is going to be a nightmare.

Nothing like deciding not to complete a secondary objective that gives a lot of bloodpoints, then complaining about getting punished for it

Good luck finding all the totems on the indoor maps, or a map like springwood. Good way to waste 3-4+ minutes without a dedicated totem hunting build which will be useless 9/10 games because you don't see NOED too often at high ranks.

Killers will always make excuses for this perk. And I main killer, I know it's BS and I don't even try to deny it.

  • Nothing like not seeing or dumping on the killer for the entire game only to get 1 shot and die on your first hook. I still think it's the biggest crutch in the game.

I run self care and don't consider myself a potato teammate. But when you're playing alone there's situations where I feel like self-care is needed. If my teammates are on death hook and I haven't been hooked once. It's my turn to take the killer on the chase. So you self care up and go track him down and make him chase you. If you need to go in for a save at the end of the game, self-care so you can rush the hook. I don't really think that self care means you're bad. It's just harder sometimes in solo to get your teammates to heal you.

It's not that it makes you bad for having it, but there's just so many better options. It also enables really, really bad plays alot of the time. Usually the only time I ever find myself needing to selfcare is when my teammates are all dead, in which case you should just be looking for the hatch instead of healing, or standing on a door. I always have iron-will so I don't mind staying injured sometimes.

Just a day ago I had a meg who tried to get me to heal her when the gen I was working on was like 85% done. There was ruin as well, and instead of helping me finish it she sits there selfcaring and boom, the killer comes over. The self-care didn't finish, the gen wasn't finished, she goes down anyways and then gets hooked on the gen and it gets regressed back to 0, resulting in a hatch game. It's those kinds of situations where I really hate the perk.

And if you were to call him out on his playstyle. He'd stutter over his words as he tried to defend his play. Eventually coming out with 'WELL NERF KEYS!"

It's not like survivor ranks mean much too. The fact all those red ranks had self-care is pretty telling of how boosted survivor ranks are these days. I still get tons of urban evading, gen-phobic, selfcaring potatoes in my red rank games. They make the games pretty much impossible to win when you finally hit a red rank killer, cause they are the kinda people getting sawed by billy in the first 15 seconds of a match and then not having DS so they get tunneled off at like 4 gens left.

The thing that bothers me about that picture is that they brought a mori to a lobby without Items. Yeah, maybe it was an SWF, but idk, a mori when nobody is playing items (and then tunneling right of the first hook) sucks. Sure the matchmaking sucks too, but it's not like they knew which ranks the would get when they equipped the mori.

Mori, NOED, playing one of the stronger killers in the game. The mori'd guy got 4k points so was clearly tunneled off hook. And he is still complaining lol.

Yeah. I don't know why my game ALWAYS crashes when the killer uses a mori. Or when survivors switch to a key. What a weird thing.

Really? Your game freezes right in front of the hooked survivor that swapped to a key too? It doesn't usually crash but I just can't move.

I run Surveillance, STBFL, A Nurses calling and BBQ though for Spirit. Should I switch one for Pop goes the weasel?

I don't like nurses on her without monitor or sloppy. It means you see them at 28m but have a 24m terror radius. Without sloppy you are realistically only going to get any use out of it by beelining back to unhooks and hoping they are healing nearby (which they usually are).

STBFL is kinda meh on her imo, and is meh in general, since it is really only good for getting rapid hits in succession which will usually only happen against red rank survivors when you are camping hooks.

BBQ is also meh, mainly good for bloodpoints. But if you are looking to 3-4k, I think thrilling is better for perfect information when combined with pop.

If you are running surveillance you may as well run ruin as well, it's one of the best combo's for a high mobility killer. Spirit has OK mobility basekit but turns high-mobility with add-ons. I usually use it on Freddy or maybe with an indoor map offering on a stealth killer. Ruin + Surveillance + Sloppy is very good for shoving people off gens and playing an attrition game.

I'd recommend finding a place for stridor, many red rank survivors will be running iron will and not being able to quickly nail them with your power if they are walking can be crippling.

  • A few minutes timeout practically is a warning. It's only with 4-5+ DC's in a day or so you actually get penalized. I almost never get a random DC ingame, it's usually during the loading screen I get crashes.

It's also pretty easy to distinguish between a ragequit and a legit DC for the remaining players. Did the person who left just get dunked, or just randomly DC at 5 gens left?

I have found myself slugging an obscene amount when playing Spirit or Kazan, to create pressure. Is that normal or is it a bad habit I need to get out of?

Oni yes, spirit not really. The cookie cutter build for oni is infectious + monitor so you can slug hardcore during your power activation.

Spirit I feel like has enough chase potential and mobility she can just pop goes gens after every hook for her pressure.

  • Best killer hands down but super annoying to play as. May as well use spirit who is almost as good but also feels way better to play.

  • Fun to play, but just a weaker huntress. He can land some cool shots but most of them will only result in an injury. Long range spears are typically punished by them breaking out, unless you have purple or green add-ons.

For the same purple or green add-ons, you can get 90 second exhaust huntress or 7 hatchet huntress. Or 90 second exhaust 7 hatchet huntress. Hatchet hitboxes are also the size of a truck, and they actually down people at range even if there is are some tires nearby.

You never "have" to tunnel or camp. You choose to, to supplement your own lack of skill and effort. A good killer doesn't have to play like that to get 2+ kills the vast majority of the time. "If I leave the hook I'm doomed to a 0-1k." That's exactly why you'll never improve at this game. More importantly, what could possibly be fun about camping someone? I don't play killer to mindlessly stand in one spot for 80+ seconds, doing nothing. That's just boring. Isn't it more fun to actually go and try for more kills, instead of giving up on the 4k right away because you saw something you didn't like? Yikes.

It's about your only choice if you are hitting red rank object SWF squads, and are not playing a top tier killer. Just downing one person can eat up 1-2 minutes, and that's half the gens already done. Let's see, I cleared out all the pallets near this 3 gen and got a hook next to it. But I should leave and go run the infinite loop with someone who hasn't been hooked yet instead?

Against solo's maybe not so much, but again, gens can get done in 3-4 minutes if you are not dropping people immediately at the start of the match.

You know that cause of the latest change to SWF it isnt possible to bully low ranks? They would get matched according to the highest ranked survivor.

Yeah, more often than not it's the opposite way around. Sometimes I will get 2-3 red ranks and like a rank 16 who just gets destroyed and probably doesn't continue to play the game because of it. I had some baby meg earlier running into walls during chases and she killed herself on second hook lol.
