  • I love Resident Evil, but this game is all about giving different horror icons a chance to be in the game. We already got a pretty big chapter up ahead and I'm grateful for that, but I'd like to see characters and locations from other series/movies/games in the future.

Still, I wouldn't complain if more RE content is given to us, it's just that it'd feel a little unfair to other horror icons.

  • It's an A for now, good presentation and all, but I'd like to see how much of it will be changed after the PTB... that's why I won't vote just yet.

Either way, it's a breath of fresh air after the last 2 ones, which were kinda disappointing imo.

  • Trapper needs some kind of buff, rework, change... ANYTHING that can help him a bit. He's first on my list, the game's mascot deserves better. Then...

2- Trickster is just too weak, he desperately needs some changes or buffs. As of now, it's painful to play as him in mid/high ranks.

3- Twins are terrible. Great idea, poorly executed imo. Winning by slugging sucks.

4- Myers is kind of an outdated Killer, although his snowball potential is still quite high.

Oh and I'm glad people don't play too much Plague. She's super annoying to go against, and somewhat strong. Maybe she's not super fun to play as? Not sure why she has such a low pick rate. Anyway, she surely doesn't need changes as much as the others I mentioned.

  • If you're a completionist, you dig the prestige bloody clothes, AND you like to have a better chance at getting rare stuff in your bloodwebs, then yeah, go ahead and prestige whatever Killer or Survivor you main. Make sure to use your rarest/best items before you prestige because your inventory resets for that character, tho you probably already knew that.

If you don't care about all that, then it's not worth it. Tho bloody clothes do help some specific survivors with being stealthy, however some people don't really like to play stealthy (You'll see people with flashy and colorful clothes in half of your matches).

So in summary, it's worth it for some people, worthless for others. It all depends on the things I mentioned above.

  • I may do it with other games, but not with DbD. Sound is super important for both sides, and while you can still play the game with some chill bg music, it could potentially make you mishear or not hear at all an important sound cue which could ruin your game. Some sounds are very subtle, yet critical. Like a Myers breathing on your neck.

I also like to keep the game's atmosphere untouched; even if it's not a "scary" game per se, I'd feel less involved with the current match if I'm listening to some tunes while sacrificing survivors, or being sacrificed by a Killer.

  • If you're the average "click the flashlight everytime I see the Killer and taunt him any time I get a stun", expect a basement proxy camp, and pray to your favorite gods that I'm not using Bubba. Otherwise, I only do it if the game is going south.

  • Wraith's in his best state right now, and even then he's not the best Killer out there. Just a lot more enjoyable and less underwhelming than before.

  • Boring for survivors (yay, 4 minutes studying the ground), stressful for Killers (gotta catch 'em all before they use dem Unbreakables or heal each other). There's nothing I like about it, no matter which side I play.

South American servers are great, although sometimes (usually during the afternoon) they seem to get temporarily disabled and the game sends us to NA servers for like half an hour.

I always wondered about this. I've been in quite a number of games were both survivors and the Killer had a fixed latency of 200ms or so. Ah well, yet another bad thing of living in South America. :(

Also the further you are from Brazil (which is where the server is located, I'm fairly sure) the worse your ping will be, so I'm not sure about S.A servers being that great. I always have an average of 90. It's not terrible, BUT it makes the difference sometimes, y'know that window or pallet you've already vaulted years ago, yet you get hit anyway... things like that.

  • Starstruck hurts sweaty SWFs with flashlights/sabo toolboxes, it mostly guarantees that no one will get in your way while carrying someone, and if they try to play the hero, they may give you a free down.

Agitation is also really good, and it's specially effective when you need to do basement related missions. Great to use on Trapper or Hag to get survivors into your "trap nest". Buuut I like scaring people off with Starstruck. It's possibly the best perk we got from the All Kill chapter.

  • Nemesis!

    OR... Wesker B)

  • Love Resident Evil, but I'm worried about aesthetical changes. We all know how licensed survivors looks now, so... yeah. I do think the Killer is going to look as good as in their own game, but I'm not too sure about the survivor. I'm also worried about the Resident Evil Killer being weak, hope they make them justice with the powers.

Regarding the other debate going on here... While Jack Baker was a good and scary antagonist, he's definitely not as iconic as Mr. X, Nemesis... or Birkin, Wesker. RE7 hasn't been around for that long, it doesn't matter if it was a good game or not. I'm not saying Jack doesn't have a chance of being the Killer for this chapter, cause really, he does. But in my personal opinion, Jack won't attract as many players as the other ones I've mentioned before. Hell, even Osmund Saddler is probably more remembered than any Baker family member.

The big problem here is that, not all of us RE fans think alike. Some players love all the games, no matter what directions they took. Others hate the originals. Then others hate the newer ones. THEN others hate the ones who changed the survival horror formula. And so on... My point is, no matter what Killer they choose for, it won't please everyone. However, I do think they have a bigger chance of success with a Killer from the PS1 era, where it all started. Anything can happen, tho.

  • Why even include Tinkerer? Every Killer and his grandma have it in their loadout, it's as common as Corrupt Intervention or Noed.

I'd personally go with Franklin's Demise. It used to be a lot more popular a few years ago, but of course, there were less perks back then and it was a tad bit different. Also, it's useless to bring Franklin's if survivors don't use items.

However, you wouldn't believe how incredibly good it can result against SWF teams fully equipped with items. Those survivors just looove their precious items, so you make 'em drop it down, and if it's a rainbow map, a key, a good med-kit or any other kind of decent item, you can count on them coming back to it. They waste time in doing so, and if you catch them right on the spot, it's a free hit for you, specially if you're playing as a stealth killer. Also works wonders with Hag.

  • I always found it annoying that Freddy could spam traps with 0 downsides, while Hag and Trapper have to wait their sweet little time to set everything up. I don't mind the other changes, but I'm glad that they adressed this.

  • The more you play, the less powerful and more balanced you realize this perk is.

Not saying it's weak, it's actually very decent. It's just that there are other strong, nearly broken perks available for both sides that could use a change or two... and BBQ isn't one of them.

  • I play both sides, more survivor than killer, and yeah I've been camped and tunneled lots of times.

With that being said: Having more perk slots is a terrible, terrible idea.

  • Otz's videos are awesome. You have regular gameplay, maybe with some spiced up perks... then you have challenges he proposes to himself, experiments, informative videos of many hours long. He's also usually a very kind and chill person, I got to know him last year but I can say with confidence that he's the best DBD content creator I've seen. As for honorable mentions:

    • Big kudos to Bricky (who doesn't seem to be doing DbD content anymore), back when I started playing, I always watched his videos and they helped me in making builds with certain killers and other stuff.
    • Vinc3ntvega is also pretty funny, tho I suggest to avoid watching him if you're eating... xD
    • PainReliever is also ok, I used to watch him because of his informative videos and chill voice, but then I met Otz and I haven't watched a lot of Pain's videos since then
    • Finally, Paulie Esther is pretty cool and I like that he hunts secrets and easter eggs hidden inside the game

  • I'd rather have more things that affect gameplay than mere aesthetic changes. There's already a lot of those to mix and match, and they'll keep coming anyway.

  • Okay, but why post this in the polls section?

  • My very first time seeing the game in action was at a friend's house, but at the time I didn't pay a lot of attention to it (This was back in 2017 I think). Some months later, for some reason, Instagram kept showering my feed with DbD videos. I eventually ended up watching a couple of them and I liked what I saw. So after like a month of randomly seeing DbD videos via Instagram, I decided to buy it, and here I am after 2 years.

  • Hag's a better camper and has better add-ons. Also, she doesn't have to "collect" her power around the map. Plus smaller terror radius and small height can take survivors by surprise. And she has potential map mobility, even better with some specific add-ons.

I don't dislike the Trapper but he has too many things against him. Tho it IS more satisfactory to trap people as him than getting your traps triggered as the Hag.

  • While boring to play as/against, Freddo's most definitely the 3rd strongest one. He's effective at every little thing a Killer needs to do in order to get those survivors and stop those gens. Add a few strong perks and you're good to go. You don't even need add-ons.

4th place would probably be Oni. Players who know how to use his power properly are really scary; it's like once he activates it, no matter how good of a looper you are, you will go down. But only against the best Oni's out there. Overall he requires more skill than Freddy and not many people play as him, so it's a bit harder to judge.

The new system is certainly more fair than the previous system. However, it still has the potential to make frustrating situations for both sides. I think it would be much better if the RNG element was removed altogether.

I agree. Something like, completing 5 difficult skill checks in a row to be able to free yourself? Or anything that doesn't involve RNG. I don't dislike the current mechanic but it's true that some frustrating moments can still happen.

  • It's better than what he had before. Personally I always had the worst luck:

    • As a survivor, I was never lucky enough to free myself from a trap before the Trapper got me. Sometimes with 6+ attempts.
    • As the Trapper, survivors aaalways escaped on their first attempt. Always.

The current system feels a bit more fair for both sides, at least to me.

  • I do play Jeff. Don't ever disrespect him again.

As for Adam, I don't feel like spending resources on him just to change his white, default coat to something a bit more stealth-friendly, as I already have other "main" survivors I usually play as. Maybe I'll use him in the future if I feel like getting him to, at least, prestige 2.

  • Terrible idea. Most Killers you mentioned already have the necessary tools to catch up to survivors or negate loops to get a second hit. You also have add-ons, perks, mindgame possibilities at some loops... if none of that works: you either got outplayed by a good survivor / You are not good at playing that certain killer/ Or both. I agree some Killers can potentially have a tougher time to land a 2nd hit than others, but the M1's cooldown is not the issue.

    @Seraphor said:

I'm gonna say no. M1 killers main difficulty is closing in on the survivor. Once they've done that, they don't really have any need for a buff in hit speed, they've got the upper hand in having reached the survivor in order to M1.

Also I'm not sure why you included Billy, Bubba, Huntress, Freddy, Plague, Oni, Demo and Pyramid in there. They all have powers or secondary attacks way better than an M1. I'll give you Trickster though, he's basically an M1 killer.

    +1 to this too.

  • A Rainbow Map with that add-on that lets your teammates see what you see is awesome, however that's an ultra rare item with a very rare add-on, so it's not something I run often.

So most of the time I go with toolboxes. Can be good for a sabo save and of course speeding up gens, however they're also great against killers who run Tinkerer, and we're having lots of those lately.

Usually, Killers with Tinkerer arrive just in time to prevent that gen from being completed, however if they're not near enough and you use a good toolbox after 70% of the gen's progress, you'll probably get away with it.

  • If that other survivor was a good teammate and played nice, I let go so they can try and find the hatch.

If they were a nasty player (farmed teammates, urban evaded the whole match, didn't work on a single gen, etc.) you bet I'll struggle as much as I can, cause usually those kind of players only look out after themselves and will probably let you die to find the hatch.

  • I've met the most disgusting survivors and killers in red and purple ranks. Tho green ranks? Yeah, you can get a sweaty player in green every now and then, but it's not as bad, and not as frequent. Problem is, pipping out of green ranks doesn't require much effort, so I'm always stuck in purple/red ranks.

Solo queue in red ranks as a survivor can be a total disaster, and a complete waste of your time depending on the players you get matched with.

  • The rewards are just not worth it.

  • Too soon to tell, honestly. I'll wait until he goes live and I personally play as him, then I'll be able to give an answer.

  • I see someone watched Otz's video

  • You can never go wrong with stalky boi.

  • 1- Haddonfield for obvious reasons. This nightmare has to end.

2- Coldwind Farm cause all their maps are usually survivor sided.

3- Backwater Swamp, not so much for balance, but for visual upgrade.

4- Red Forest for a better balance (I don't think it looks bad visually).

And imo, Hawkins doesn't need a complete overhaul, just some small tweaks here and there.

  • I'd only change some of his add-ons, I don't mind the rest.

  • Running is a "safe bet" where you'll always buy a bit of time (or potentially a lot, depending on your skill level and the Killer's) for your team. Stealth is a risky bet. If it works, then great, wait for the Killer to get away and then you can continue with what you were doing, however if you do get found, you'll be gifting the Killer a free hit. Or even a down in some scenarios.

With that being said, there are some maps that are more stealth-friendly than others and I may opt for that choice more often if I get to play in said maps. Dead Dawg Saloon for example. Those bushes came from hell.

  • The new info we get is neat. The way that info is shown is not.

And while I do like that you can re-scale the size of the HUD, I feel that it's a bit limited. For example, at max size: portraits, your item, and perks look huge, but things that appear at the right/upper right are really small (Bloodpoints scoring events, Hex debuffs, etc.).

Hopefully this won't stay completely intact. While I don't completely hate it, a bunch of small changes here and there could make a huge difference. Time will tell I guess.

  • None. All of them are more bearable than the actual OoO.

Also, Soul Guard meta? I've seen more Spine Chill than SG.

  • Huntress has 1 potentially useful perk.

    Wraith has none.

    I rest my case.

  • DH saved me sooo many times. Dedicated servers kinda screw the timing a bit but it's alright.

I hate Balanced Landing with passion cause it's situational, and there are maps where you can't even use it (I swear, I've been to some maps with no falling points, except for the basement. Good luck trying to use it if no one's hooked there). So it can potentially be a wasted perk slot.

It also encourages survivors to do gens near hills or high places, and after finishing that, they're too scared to wander too far from their "safe" spot. It's more annoying than survivors who walk everywhere to save their Sprint Burst. I don't have to worry about those things with DH or Lithe users.

  • Not good, not bad either. It's a double-edged sword (Killer can use this knowledge too) and it may not spawn at all where it's supposed to.

Still better than mist or luck offerings.

  • To a certain extent, I enjoy going solo. Sometimes, hearing your teammates talk via Discord kinda takes away the charm of the game. Being completely on your own relying on 3 strangers is thrilling. Frustrating sometimes, but still, it's way more unpredictable and interesting in some aspects.

That being said, I mostly play SWF when my friends are available cause we have fun 99% of the time, doesn't matter if we survive or if we get facecamped to death. Some frustrations are non-existant when I'm with my pals, and that's one of the main reasons I usually play with them rather than going solo.

However, as someone said above, if I'm on my own, then I might go for some Killer rounds instead.

  • It's been centuries since I last faced a Blight, and I don't use him very much.

Demogorgon is a close second. In terms of content, the Stranger Things chapter was really big. However, Demo isn't a very common killer either, so I also tend to forget about him.

  • In terms of gameplay, I'd go for Haddonfield. Needs an overhaul urgently imo.

In terms of visuals, Backwater Swamp.

And I don't think Hawkins needs a big update. Just a small one to correct some things that may make the map annoying for both sides.

  • Boring for both sides.

Necessary at certain times? Yeah, maybe. Doesn't change the fact that it makes the game tedious, specially when they do it for the 4K.
